I’m still on the Danny Phantom/Batfam AU train and personally I think it would be 💕fun💕 if Danny managed to get super injured in his human form, likely by sticking his nose into some arms deal he stumbled across and getting shot for his efforts, and he was promptly discovered by several bats. The bats are very alarmed. Danny, who is already dead and has enhanced healing anyways, is a little loopy from blood loss but not terribly concerned.

Tense moment of suspense on a quest:
Leo, listening to the whispering sounds: What’s that sound…?
Jason, dramatically: It’s the winds. They’re speaking to us.
Leo, enthralled: What’re they saying?
Jason, still dramatically: I don’t know. I don’t speak wind.

no because you don't understand, light yagami was not right. the reason you think he's right in the english musical demo is because "where is the justice" fundamentally changes his moral stance. in the song, light expresses frustration with the rich and powerful being able to get away with their crimes, and how letting them off easy just because of their influence is deplorable. this economic dimension reflects the values and concerns of the demo's american audience. his issue here is with people who escaped justice being passed down in a court of law. this change isn't necessarily a bad thing, and you're not wrong to agree with the sentiment behind this song. i think you're probably meant to. but it's important to me that i note this as a point where the musical diverges from the rest of canon.
however, in the source material, light doesn't single out the rich and famous for abuses of power. he equates all crime with an innate moral corruption on the part of the perpetrator, regardless of socioeconomic status. he has a very naive and overly simplistic view of the world, and he does not acknowledge or comprehend the societal factors and circumstances that lead people to commit crimes. the one aspect of his morality that stays consistent is his tough-on-crime attitude, that punishing the wicked will deter crime and pave the way for the morally righteous to prosper. regardless of how you feel about the viability of that, light still goes about it all wrong.
light kills people have already been convicted and are already serving out their prison sentences. for those people, justice has already been served, and they pose no immediate threat to the outside world, but he kills them anyway because he sees their lives as worthless. he kills people who have been recently arrested and have yet to go to trial, but they never will because he decides who's guilty. he kills people even if the court acquits them.
sure, he might do his own research on these cases, but how thorough is he being? he kills thousands of people every week. are we honestly supposed to believe he thoroughly vetted every person, on top of his responsibilities as a full-time student-- and later, as a detective? this isn't even mentioning all of the people he killed for simply getting in his way. light is the privileged son of a cop. he has never had to reckon with the real world and its complex moral dilemmas. he may be a genius but he is so fucking stupid.

FUCK my brain is on random of md fic ideas train tonight
I can't decide if i should actually write this one tho?? like. okay. me at ages 9-13 would love this bc it's god. Dumb but whatever y'all KNOW I'm dumb so this isn't a rattling event here anyway
Modern AU, v Babysitters Club level sort of plot, but:
Alma has her first period, at school, during class, and Stepdad Ed you gotta understand Dad wasn't answering and Mum wasn't answering and Stepdad Doug wasn't answering and you did and now my stupid uniform skirt has blood on it and i feel so gross-
Cut to Ed who isn't like. Unaware of what to do here of course, like. He was raised by a single mum lmao, and so he knew getting involved with a guy with a kid Alma's age might mean a moment like this, and he was prepared for it
but yet, no he isn't? bc she's crying and he doesn't blame her one bit, and he was supposed to just bring her period supplies and send her back to class but...she feels gross, and her skirt has blood on it and they won't give her anything for her cramps
So naturally he has to use his power as one of the trusted adults for Louis and Alma at their school to sign her out for the day (with a promise to pick Louis up later at the end of the day of course lmao)
Because she needs to go pick out the period supplies herself, really, because maybe what he grabbed on the way to the school is wrong! And she'll need ice cream after that. A new skirt, since they're already at the store, even if it isn't one she can wear to school. Maybe a new comfy robe too, since she'll want to clean up and lay down at home right?
Cut to the two of them in said new comfy plush robes, sitting on each end of Stede's huge expensive couch, eating through personal pints of various ice cream flavours. Ed has the pain killers (like motrin or ibuprofen or something, idk i used any and all i could when i still got my period lmao) by him and dispenses when appropriate and as needed
That's as far as I have it fully in my brain, but additional disjointed scenes include:
-Stede wondering what the fuck is going on when he goes to pick up his kids from school and the receptionist laughs at him bc surely his own bf told him that he already picked up the kids?! (Ed, at home, Realizing: OH FUCK)
-Izzy on the phone with Ed, standing in the period aisle of some big box store. Explaining in loving exasperation that no, Ed, she really has enough for now if you bought like. five boxes. Yes Ed, I would know of all people. Edward you literally helped do my first T shot at twenty, you know about-. Ed. Ed. Jesus fuckin christ Ed it's not a gunshot wound pouring blood, I know you know this, why are you panicking?!
...oh. she's still crying? Well. Maybe you do need more ice cream then, and a heating pad for her stomach. Sit tight and no you cant fuckin pay me back, Ed. It's my treat.

Episode 1 Repost!
Welcome to Goth-Pod! Join host Juda Boone discuss all things Gotham City. Today we dive head first into one of Gotham City's more relevant mysteries: Who is The Batman?
[goth-pod is a fictional in-universe podcast based on the DC comics universe. Juda Boone is an original fictional character, not based on any real person or known comic book character.]
Transcript under the cut
Hello everyone! Welcome to our first episode of the season. If you're new here, hi! Thank you so much for joining us here at Goth-Pod. Unfortunately we are not a gothic-lifestyle podcast, though I do understand the confusion.
Goth-Pod is a Gotham City based podcast for all discussions of Gotham. The weird and the wild, the rogues and the rakes, the heroes and the heretics.
You are listening today to your favorite non-binary holy heretic, Juda Boone. Yes that is my real name and yes I did pick it myself, thank you.
For the first episode of the season I wanted to start us off with something that has been a heavily discussed topic, and therefore something comfortable for our Gotham residents. The age old question, the thing that gets people more up in arms than the moon landing- Who is The Batman?
There's this idea that almost all people have, that heroes have to have a secret identity. Which is fair. We watched things like Cinderella, or the Mask of Zorro all our lives. The idea of changing the outward appearance in order to do something one normally couldn’t.
If you’re fighting for your life every night against some of the most dangerous people in the world, you don’t want those people to know your home address. So you don a mask, and a new persona and you do what one normally couldn't.
But the Bat, as most Gothamites know, does not follow the normal rules we see with other heroes. Less of a mask, and more of a.. casing. Not so much a persona, but instead a state of being.
The Bat is. Weird. That's why we love him. That's why he’s ours.
But what if that went further? What if Batman wasn’t much of a man at all? Batman, or, The Bat, as I like to call him, is more of a.. Manifestation of Gotham. Or of the justice Gotham needs? An earth-bound spirit that haunts just as strongly as it interferes.
You know I used to have a belief as a kid, that Monsters would just disappear when light touched them.
Strangely, I’m not alone in this weird meta-physical belief. I actually adopted it from a good friend here at Goth-Pod. Of course, I don’t speak for everyone at the podcast and definitely not for everyone in Gotham. My uncle still texts me blog posts that try to explain the crack-pot theory that Batman is in fact, world-renowned reporter, Vikki Vale.
But what do you think? Does the Bat have a face behind the ghostly white eyes and inhuman abilities to cling to the shadows?
Unrelated, but did you know that Gotham is one of the only cities that has an urban bat population? Something to think about tonight.
Thank you for joining! If you enjoy this podcast, let us know! We love to hear from our neighbors in Gotham, or if you're listening in from outside our home city. I’m Juda and you’re listening to Goth-Pod. Until next time, stay safe, Gotham.

My theory of what the latest Starkid musical is about based on my own deductions and past Starkid productions (huh, that rhymes):
Tumblr media
Based on the words in the top left corner and the style of Bryce’s clothing, it is very easy to deduce that this musical will be medieval inspired, but I can dig deeper. Bryce’s outfit does not look as put together as a typical princess gown, so I’m guessing that our protagonist is wearing armour, if I had to nail down a time period I’d say Ancient Greece or Rome, making her a gladiator. That would already be a fascinating musical, but I’m going further, stay with me. As someone very rightly pointed out in a comment/reblog that I can’t quite remember, the text used for the date resembles the 1980s movie Labyrinth, which plays into Starkid’s love of nostalgia… we’re getting close. Starkid’s musicals are filled with nostalgia - classic Disney (Twisted), Harry Potter (AVPM trilogy), Star Wars (Ani), Batman (Holy Musical B@tman), classic video games (Trail To Oregon), classic horror/sci-fi (Hatchetfield series), VHS/classic stories (VHS Christmas Carol) - but what do most of these also have in common? They are, to borrow a word from the latest Hatchetfield musical, ‘nerdy’. So, what do we have here? A team that prizes both nostalgia and nerdiness, creating a musical about a woman in armour, perhaps a gladiator. We also know that Team Starkid are returning to parodies after Hatchetfield, returning to their roots you might say. This has led me to one conclusion… the next musical produced by Team Starkid will be… a DnD parody. Think about it! It’s nerdy, it’s nostalgic, and it’s hot right now because of the recent Honour Among Thieves movie making more people interested in the game, and Stranger Things as well - a Starkid member was in a Stranger Things parody recently (was it Jaime?) so yeah. That’s my best theory, and no matter what this musical is actually about, I’ll love it, and Bryce will rock her first true lead role, she deserves this.
Edit: I just want to date the release of this post just in case my theory is correct so I can show people this post and be like “See? I’m psychic!” So yeah, this post was released on Saturday 23rd March 2024, around 11 pm, and this edit was made on Sunday 24th March at precisely 13:54 pm. Also I want to tag @the-real-team-starkid just in case they see this :).

Reapers (Mass Effect) "Spoilers for the entire original Mass Effect trilogy.
At their core, the Reapers represent the insignificance of humanity (and other sapient creatures) in the face of an ancient and unfathomably wide universe.
The Reapers have some superficial similarities with the Extinction: namely, that their driving goal is to "Harvest" (i.e. commit complete genocide against) space-faring species. That said, their role in the text fits better fits the Vast.
First, the Reaper's plans play out on an incomprehensibly Vast time scale. In the Mass Effect universe, humanity experienced First Contact less than 30 years before the start of the first game. Contrast the Asari, who were the first species in the current cycle to reach the Citadel, reached the Citadel in approximately 580 B.C.E.. Operating on a still larger timescale, Protheans, the ancient species credited with leaving behind the mass effect technology, "disappeared" (spoiler alert: it was the Reapers) c. 48,000 B.C.E.. The Reapers' cycle makes even that timescale look like grains of sand. They show up every 50,000 years or so to carry out their "Harvest" and vanish into the darkness beyond the galaxy to bide their time. The Mass Effect wiki puts the years where their creators killed one of them (and therefore the approximate beginning of the Cycles) as c. 1,000,000,000 B.C.E..
Next, they're really, really big. Freaking ginormous. A helpful Redditor posted an illustration comparing one to skyscrapers in modern LA: https://www.reddit.com/r/masseffect/comments/2e3qui/a_reaper_to_scale_with_modern_day_downton_los/. The only ways Shepard manages to take one down on foot: (1) pulling a Mothra v. Godzilla thing with the terrifyingly large and aggressive Kalros, Mother of Thresher Maws, (this was a small one, BTW) and; (2) using a targeting laser and letting an actual fleet of spaceships do the firing. Sovereign, the Reaper vanguard, is several times larger than the largest ships galactic society has to offer.
(MAJOR SPOILERS FOR MASS EFFECT 2) You know Simon Fairchild's gargantuan person made out of people? The Reapers did that but even more gruesomely. Well, Shepard manages to put a stop to it for humans specifically, but each Reaper is a superstructure built around a giant representation of a species the Reapers Harvested, made out of matter collected from that species. It's their way of "preserving" the species. (Also, remember the part about cycles being every 50 thousand years and the cycles starting 1 billion years BCE? They've done The Great Beast thing around 20 thousand times by the time Mass Effect takes place.)
Then, there's the entire first conversation Sovereign has with Shepard. I'll be happy to send a video of it on YouTube via ask if the Reapers make it in, but highlights include: --Sovereign claiming to be beyond sapient comprehension. --Sovereign calling organic life "nothing but a genetic mutation." --This part: "The pattern has repeated itself more times than you can fathom. Organic civilizations rise, evolve, advance, and at the apex of their glory they are extinguished. The Protheans were not the first. They did not create the Citadel." --And this: "We are each a nation - independent, free of all weakness." --And this: " We are legion. The time of our return is coming. Our numbers will darken the sky of every world. You cannot escape your doom."
Holy existential crisis, Batman!
Anyway, in the text of Mass Effect, Reapers serve as a literalization of the existential fear borne of recognizing that in the vast scale of the universe, humans aren't likely to be the first or only intelligent species--that we're young and tiny and only just beginning to understand the natural world. In the face of that enormity, are we capable of being meaningful? Or are we doomed to be void of meaning and impact?
The One Who Wanders And Waits/The Wanderer (Space Boy) "The Magnificent Bastard behind an Ancient Conspiracy to ensure humanity someday reaches the Monolith. It's intentions are unknown due to its Blue-and-Orange Morality, but it has used it's emotion-manipulating powers to slowly brainwash the entire staff of the FCP so they'll be easy to manipulate so it can achieve it's goals. When he was a child, Oliver encountered The Wanderer, who drove Oliver to a five-year-long existential crisis over the vastness and emptiness of space. He made Oliver see the world in terms of “The Nothing in between the stars […] a vast Nothing. An emptiness.” Oliver thinks that most people willingly ignore the “Nothing” because they’re frightened by it, but he can no longer ignore that “The universe is almost entirely made up of Nothing. Even the atoms in our bodies consist primarily of empty space. We are all just bits of matter, floating in the void.” This post explains it better."

no malice meant here but like. hey. sometimes when someone makes a joke about something publicly, it is actually not about you/the person you're imagining is the victim of the joke. when trans girls talk about eggs, they're not talking about "men who are feminine" or "men who should identify as women actually" or "men we want to pressure". like that's why people get upset or laugh at you when you equivalate the two. it's seeing someone talk about their own life experience and assuming they are talking about someone else entirely, and then getting mad at them for being so mean to that someone else. and more importantly (the motive for my call) the reason trans women are so bothered by the modern condemnation of "egg jokes" is because people condemning them (like you) are equating a joke about lived experience to an active malicious effort. like yeah are some people gonna make a joke of this genre that's in poor taste? maybe. but people attack trans women for these jokes way harder than they would anyone else for making a bad joke. it's making a mountain out of a molehill and frames all trans women as malicious, just for talking about their own experiences (as so-called eggs) in a way that may be relatable to others. a woman saying "haha liking X thing is so eggy/doing X things means you're trans!!" is simply NOT pressure to transition. it is NOT saying that men can't be feminine. it is NOT telling the reader of the joke to /do/ anything. when you see a woman making an egg joke and respond with "umm don't pressure men to transition!" you are, frankly, accusing that woman of something she is not doing, whether you meant to or not, and quieting her when she attempted to talk to a group of likeminded people about herself. It discourages other women to talk about their own lives and makes a lot of the transfemme community feel as if they must walk on egg shells if they dare crack a joke in public. even if you believe the joke was in poor taste or implies something you disagree with about gender, there is a need to meter your response according to the severity of the situation. is an egg joke, made by trans people for trans people to see, actually worth a public negative response? particularly a response that implies that trans women are manipulating, sinister people who want to convert you and laugh about it? even if someone thinks the jokes or one specific egg joke was bad, you can see how the severity of backlash to it (ie current egg discourse) might be disproportionate to the offense. how trans women might feel that they're being punished too much for something that was very obviously not meant to be taken that way. if you think egg jokes are "the same as conversion therapy" in any way at all, youre asserting that trans women have ***any*** realistic intent to "forcibly convert" men to transition. you know that's not true right? like, think about what you imply by interpreting so MANY women like this. would you assert this about trans men who make jokes about seeing signs of their transness in their past? or men who wishfully entertain the idea of an afab celebrity being trans masc? that's what these jokes are, it's really not malicious, I promise. Again sorry for dropping in here I'm not trying to be mean or angry or anything at you, just informative bc I think a lot of people really don't understand how shitty it feels to be on the other end of this. Have a good day!
Holy mother of text wall batman, but I'll try to parse this.
My biggest thing is I did not read the OP as being ABOUT jokes, or as being a joke in and of itself. Whatsoever. I was taking it as a criticism of anti-egg culture as a whole. There is a non-insignificant amount of people who do genuinely attempt to pressure GNC people into identifying in a way that they simple do not, in either direction. The long and the short of it really is just that I was not taking it as being referring to jokes or memes. I was taking the post at face value, especially since it was also directly comparing "men can be feminine" to 1-to-1 conversion therapy rhetoric, when that is extremely contextual.
Also, any trans person can participate in the harmful side of egg culture. The friend I was talking about was a cis dude being badgered by a trans man. He was outright harassed by that person actually simply for asserting that he himself did not identify as trans just for being a crossdresser. I think it's fucked up to pressure people to identify in a way that they do not, no matter who's doing it and for what ends. I don't want cis people telling me, a tranny, how to identify. We shouldn't tell cis people how to identify either. I do not think of shitty Reddit memes or trans people talking about their childhoods when I think of egg culture. I think of people I know personally who have been harassed by people who take it upon themselves to 'crack eggs', so to speak.
TL;DR: I did not interpret the post as being about what it was later (albeit rudely, not by you) clarified to be about. People seem to be taking my response (which said that it is bad to say "but men can be feminine!!!" to trans women/amab NBs) as me having an issue with Reddit trans memes about personal discovery, when that's just not what I equate egg culture with. It's also extremely condescending to act like this is coming out of a place of "oh, the evil trans women are going to convert the cissies into trannies!" when I, 1) am trans, and 2) do not associate egg culture exclusively with trans women by a landslide.

[everyone has a skeleton] chapter 2
fic: everyone has a skeleton
chapter 2: me, myself and i (we don't need nobody else)
Dick starts digging into the heroics system here-- and it’s a real, government-run system, ugh-- and frowns at his computer. He doesn’t stop until Tim nudges his thigh with a socked foot and gives him a concerned look. Right, an impressionable youth is present. Dick gives Tim a reassuring smile before going back to his deep dive.  And boy, what a deep dive it is. Heroes are ranked here. Someone looks at what heroes do, who they fight, how many people they save, and ranks them. It’s like the trolley problem if someone assigned point values to human lives. It’s the worst idea Dick has ever heard.  Would watching Bruce, Clark, and Hal Jordan arguing over rankings be funny? Sure, but god . Thinking about Dick’s entire vigilante career and how the Japanese ranking system prioritizes limelight heroes makes him want to scream. The government can’t quantify the change that a single hero can have on one person’s life. Are people genuinely okay with reducing heroism to a glorified points system?

Percy: Who’re you?
Octavian, cryptically: Oh, you’ll find out in due time.
Dakota, coming over: Hey Octavian :)
Percy: *looking to Octavian*
Octavian: The time has come. I’m Octavian.

Silly/Dumb Things that Make Me Irrationally Angry
disclaimer: the key words here are “silly” & “dumb”
The “Narnia Kids are the Founders of Hogwarts” theory
The “it was all a dream” theory
Thinking protagonist = hero
When fandom villainizes a character simply because they’re “in the way of a ship”
Character in relationship starts pursuing a different character (typically the MC) but doesn’t break up with the character they’re currently dating?????
Speed running enemies to lovers trope (that’s a trope for slow burns wtf are you doing put it down!)
Calling Disney’s Beauty & The Beast a story about Stockholm Syndrome
Calling any diverse media “woke” to undermine it
Misunderstanding how tags work on ao3 (particularly the / and & for pairings)
Misunderstanding the purpose of tags on ao3
Calling Lucy Heartfilia weak
Forgetting that Dick Grayson was a mathlete
Basing all of Jason Todd’s personality on his anger and ruthlessness
Misunderstanding Jason Todd’s anger
The DCEU butchering my boy Batsy
The “I was accidentally eavesdropping and left believing they were talking shit about me but turns out I missed the most important bits” trope
Being a military historian who loves the Civil War (I don’t trust you)
Using the word “females” to sound smarter (you just sound dumb also “women” is right there)
Spring Break being colder than usual (IT WAS THE MIDDLE OF MARCH IN TEXAS WHY WAS I SHIVERING)
Calling me by a nickname that I already refused to (you gotta earn that shit)
Ep 2.08 is never really touched on again after it’s “resolved”
vld’s lost potential (while i have made my peace, i will still bare my scars)
text blocks in fics
dialogue with no quotation marks
“Oh lookie, we got this wonderful fantastical world (that takes some inspiration from history) with it’s own politics and world building BUT we keep the sexism and racial prejudice bc the inspiration we pulled was medieval times :)” <- i will fight you for sport
mistaking rivals to lovers for enemies to lovers (similar flavor just R to L is slightly tamer. can they blend? yes, but they are not the same thing)
the blatant disregard for internet safety on tiktok (why tf would you announce your age, show your face, and air out your dirty laundry to everyone??? where is your caution? this is not vine, lil beans, y’all are stressing me out. did you miss the pbs episode about the dino agents and stranger danger??? or the fever dream computer game our 1st grade class had to play at school???)
if you have the sniffles, for the love of all things holy, please stand up and get a tissue. no one cares if you get up. i honestly prefer hearing you blow out your nose than hearing you suck up snot every 5 minutes.
taking the backstories told by Macaque and Azure about the Monkey King in lmk at face value (biased narratives are a thing! unreliable narrators are a thing! i will give the biggest sigh if Sun Wukong is placed as the sole character at fault in another fic i read with this)
“redemption” arcs
“sympathetic” villains
missing the fucking point about why Batman chooses mercy and rehabilitation over baseless violence (this also coincides with my issue with how some people view Jason as the Punisher 2.0 bc it suffers through the same fucking glorification of justifying apathy of human life and rejection of 2nd chances)
missing the fucking point about what makes Superman super (here’s a hint: it’s not his fucking power)
the fact that i missed most of Vine’s peak bc i wasn’t allowed a phone until middle school
i lost my post canon script of Cinderella in the prince’s POV that i wrote in 6th grade (rip, i should have created a personal gmail so much sooner, i could have saved you T^T)
understanding a motive does not equal justifying or excusing said motive. you just now understand why a person did what they did. maybe you find justification in it, maybe not, but it’s not absolute!

@crimsenza making a whole post about it because why not-
it started with me thinking about how batman and superman embody two of judaism's core tenants respectively. "tzedek, tzedek, tirdof" and "tikkun olam".
"tzedek, tzedek, tirdof" means "justice, justice, you shall pursue." it's about how imperative it is for us as jews to seek justice.
"tikkun olam" is "to repair the world." it's the idea that at the fall, the world was broken. and it's our job to fix it. in modern times, this is considered that jews are responsible for upholding our own welfare but also working toward the welfare of society.
and then it mostly spiraled into me thinking about the batfam and judaism. bruce, we know, is canonically jewish on his mother's side of the family. and i like to think that alfred tried to keep that aspect of the wayne legacy alive within bruce, despite not being jewish himself. and then that bleeds over into his kids.
like dick would probably call himself agnostic but he spent a good portion of his adolescence being raised culturally jewish by bruce. and it's bled over into how he treats people. his particular brand of kindness and his focus on community.
and i think tim considers himself an atheist but he's fascinated by the philosophy of judaism. by the theology. and he regularly studies jewish texts and engages in dialogue with bruce's rabbi every few months. he doesn't convert because of his uncertainties about religion and also about his place within the wayne family (i could write a whole different post about this) but he's intimately familiar with a lot of the teachings.
and then there's cass. i think she learns about the community aspects. how when someone converts, they are considered just as jewish as someone who was born and raised jewish. that we were all there at the mount that day. and the idea that actions are what defines you, not some weird moralistic thought crimes. and there's just something that speaks to her. so she converts. she struggles hard with the learning. it doesn't come naturally to her. but the rabbi sees how much she wants it, how much she cares.
and i just think about how it brings them together as a family. even when they're fighting, they have this in common. thinking about them celebrating the high holy days together. dick making damian dress up with him for purim. kate challenging tim to a drinking contest on purim and drinking him under the table. damian being pissy about having to read the four questions on passover because he's the youngest but then listening, enraptured, as bruce answers. cass stumbling her way through the prayers as she lights shabbat candles.
i just. i get very emotional about jewish families. particularly the found ones.

(Warning: the last couple times I tried to do a separate paragraph it somehow condensed into one paragraph when you posted it for some reason so I apologize in advance for what might end up being a huge wall of text lol)
Omg my top five starkid musicals?? That’s so hard 😭 I definitely don’t have a set ranking so these won’t be in order just general top five.
Obviously I have to have AVPM in there. I mean it’s a classic and was the show that introduced me to Starkid when I was a big Harry Potter fan and found this show. I was obsessed with the Very Potter Trilogy in middle school and would listen to the soundtrack every day while getting ready for school lmao. Honestly if I could put all three in my top five I would (like Coolest Girl helped me get more confidence and is so important to me) but I gotta save some room for other shows cuz they’re all amazing. But AVPM gave us “Hufflepuff’s are particularly good finders” and Quirrelmort and that alone is enough to put it in the top five (not even counting all the other iconic parts of the show)
Maybe an unpopular opinion but Holy Musical Batman is definitely in my top five. Idk what it is but I just love that show. The puns, the costumes, Nick Lang acting, Joe walker (I miss him ok), Jeff Blim debut in arguably one of his best roles? It’s all SO good. Also the opening number is *chef’s kiss* like Dylan didn’t need to go that hard. ALSO THE ACAPELLA SECTION IN DARK SAD LONELY KNIGHT?! It’s amazing. Anyway I love that silly little show.
Maybe it’s recency bias but I love NPMD. I literally have the soundtrack on repeat. One of the best StarKid soundtracks FOR SURE. The show is just so funny and has good characters and has amazing songs what more can I say? Also Angela as Grace is a standout
Idk if this counts since it’s shorter and not written by the Lang bros but A VHS Christmas Carol is so special to me so it’s in my top five. I love the 80s soundtrack (lowkey Clark’s best work) and vibes in general. I also love how we get to see some older Starkids who aren’t in the current stuff anymore again. I literally screamed (ok maybe not literally but internally I screamed and freaked out lol) when I saw the video announcing the cast for the first time bc omg my favs are returning!! Also I am obsessed with Brian and Lauren as a duo (SIBLINGS) so seeing them actually play siblings and the little spin hug they did just warmed my heart.
Honestly for fifth it’d probably be whichever I watch most recently bc they’re all so good and I can’t decide so I’ll at least say tie between Trail to Oregon and Black Friday. They’re both so good but so different so it’s hard for me to decide but I love them both. OMG AND TWISTED!! Bro I literally can’t pick a fifth they’re all so good 😭
THIS IS WHAT I WAS SAYING!!! ITS SO HARD TO CHOOSE!!
I feel like anybody that like Starkid has to have AVPM in the top 5, it’s usually the first introduction to them!
You’re making me want to push Holy Musical Batman further up on my catch-up to Starkid musicals! I skimmed it a while ago and it didn’t grab me so I watched something else, BUT IT SOUNDS SO GOOD WITH HOW YOU PITCHED IT? It’s next on my list for sure!
NPMD really is pretty killer, I LOVE the music! I put it on some playlists and everything! from Lauren's solo to Grace’s “bully/Bury the bully” THE INTRO?! JON MATTESON !!! “I’M NOT A LOSER!” LIKE DUDE?!
moving on
GOSHDAMN ANOTHER ONE I HAVENT SEEN! VHS Christmas Carol! I ALSO skimmed this one and didn’t finish it! I’ve really gotta start watching stuff! You make it sound so GOOD!
RIGHT ITS SO HARD TO CHOOSE. I’ll agree to have all Starkid musicals as our #1 beside “me and my dick”.
