The Dishes of Firene
The offerings of Firene in Cafe Terrace have a French theme.  They are all made from ingredients found in the kingdom and demonstrate their self sufficiency. Many of the dishes are based on dishes famous in certain regions or they have regional variations. In Louis' support with Pandreo he mentions that his home region is famous for grape pastries and Jean in his support with Celine talks about his home region's infamous tea. There are peasant dishes which can be made quickly and cheaply as well as luxury recipes. There are also dishes that can use up food that is out of season or stale, it seems that the Firenze do not like to waste nature's bounty. The season ingredients are harvested is important with dishes to represent each season. The Firenze loves buttery rich dishes and bread based recipes are a staple meal item. Potato, onions and wheat are the three most common ingredients. The Firenze also have a gastronomic culture of dining out whether it be from snack stalls, picnics,  restaurants or something light in a tea room. 
Onion soup - This dish is inspired by 'French Onion soup' and seems to be a peasant dish. Normally the onions are caramelised to differentiate it from the English version.
Bean and Veggie Consomme - A consommé is a soup or broth that has been clarified egg whites creating a crystal clear liquid. The origins of consomme fits with the Firenze appreciation of aesthetical beauty. Louis XIV of France is said to have been responsible for the invention of consommé when he ordered his chef to create a soup so clear that he could see his kingly reflection in it.
Minced meat dumplings - This dish is inspired by 'quenelles' which are crammed meat with breadcrumbs with a light egg binding made into an egg shape then cooked.
Potato soup - This dish is inspired by 'vichyssoise' which was a French staple. The dish is a cheap dish, simple to make and enjoyed by the peasantry.
White sausage - This dish is inspired by 'boudin blanc'. In times of war and famine and people had to make do with whatever they had, found In blanc was a popular way of using all cuts of meats and leftovers.
Salted meat stew - This dish is inspired by Pot-au-feu (fire in the pot). This dish is a household staple, (pot in the fire).  In your commonfolk household a large earthenware pot would be suspended by a hook over a hearth. In the morning the ingredients would be torn in and left to slowly cook. At lunch time the meat and vegetables would be eaten. The rest of the broth would be left to bubble over the fire and then served as a thick soup for dinner.
Cream Croquette - This is based on 'French Croquettes'. Croquette is derived from croquer, which means 'to crunch'. It was a way for using leftovers as a tasty snack or light meal. French king Louis XIV, made a more extravagant version using ingredients such as truffles, sweetbreads, and cream cheese.
Smoked freshwater eel - This dish is inspired by the eel caught in the Loire river. Traditionally eel dishes from this region were cooked or stewed in wine. Fisherman would eat eel as a quick, cheap and filling dish. Smoking is used to add flavour and preserve the fish. 
Pickled herring rolls - This dish is inspired by 'pickled herring rollmops', a popular Northern European dish. Pickling is another way of preserving food so that it can be eaten out of season. The rolls can be filled with any local ingredients. 
Deep fried carp - This dish is inspired by 'Sundgau fried carp', a local specialty with a famous tasting route. I can imagine this being a regional specialty which is famous throughout Firene. 
Apple pie - This dish is inspired by Tarte aux Pommes. It is a simple, industry dish of Apple slices under a buttery crust. The more indulgent version, 'Tart Normande', is smothered with a thick layer of cream. 
Pickled cabbage - This dish is inspired by 'choucroute garnie' (garnished sauerkraut), which is basically fermented cabbage. It is a specialty in the Alsace region of France. I can imagine a region in Firene where this would be a popular accompaniment to heavy meats. 
Potato pancakes - This dish is inspired by pommes paillasson ('doormat potatoes') also known as darphan pommes. The name comes from the shredded potato resembling a straw mat. In medieval times this was a dish eaten by farmers.
Steamed dango. There is the Japanese version of steamed dango that is made with rice flour and glutinous rice flour made into little dough balls and placed on a skewer. The description of the dish sounds like it is inspired by 'Brioche' (to knead and stir)rather than Japanese steamed dango. In France each region has their version of the recipe. I can imagine this would be true in Firene.  
Onion quiche - This dish is inspired by 'quiche Lorraine' which is a local delicacy in the Lorraine region of France. Purists believe that the addition of certain ingredients do not create a true quiche Lorraine. I can imagine there being debate about what makes a true Onion quiche and what additions are acceptable.
Apple and Cheese Toasties - This dish is inspired by 'French toast'. In France it is called 'pain perdu' which means 'lost bread' because it is a way to use stale bread.
Peach cake - This dish is inspired by peach Moelleux (soft). It is an easy to create cake that is satisfyingly gooey.
Caramel nut cake - This dish demonstrates the Firenze love of everything rich and buttery. It is based on a recipe from the Aveyron region of Southern France. The walnuts are roasted with caramel, and the cake is topped with a light, icing sugar meringue.
Syrup simmered berries - This dish is inspired by 'compote' which means 'stewed fruit'.  It is easy to prepare, made from inexpensive ingredients and contains no dairy products. It was believed that  fruit cooked in sugar syrup balanced the effects of humidity on the body.
Jelly doughnuts - This dish is inspired by 'Beignet' ('bump'). They can vary in shape, the flour used for the dough, and the filling. 
Emporer's mess - This dish is inspired by 'Kaiserschmarrn' ('Emperor's Mess') and it is a lightly sweetened pancake that takes its name from the Austrian emperor Kaiser Franz Joseph I. 
Omelette - Once again this dish demonstrates the Firenze love for local specialties. This dish is inspired by 'Provençal omelette'. The omelette is filled with ingredients that represent the region. 
Crepe pizza - This dish is based on French savoury crepes. With Firene being nature and season oriented, I like the idea that the Firenze have traditions surrounding the making of crepes like the French Dom In France Pope Gélase I distributed crepes to pilgrims and The tradition kept going and became known as Le Jour des Crêpes" ("The Day of the Crêpes"). The day is also celebrated by many as the day that marks the transition from winter to spring. I can imagine the Firenze having dishes that represent the changing of the seasons. The colour and shape of crepes is meant to symbolise the sun after winter and using the wheat of the previous harvest is meant to bring good luck for the next harvest. If you flip a good coin while cooking the crepe it is meant to bring good fortune. We know that the Firenze have many little folk tales and superstitions from Celine's supports with Alear. It is not unreasonable to assume that similar tales apply to food. In a pastoral country, Harvest would be a very important time of year.
Steak fries - This dish is inspired by French fries. A quick, cheap hearty meal.
Grape pastry - This is mentioned as the specialty of Louis's home town. I wonder if this is based on grape clafoutis made with a golden variety of grapes from the little town of Moissac, in the south-west of France known as 'Chasselas de Moissac'.
Tea rooms and folk food stalls (snack stalls) are shown to be popular in Firene by many of Celine and Chloe's support conversations. From Chloe's support conversations we learn that the nobility can have a snobby attitude to some local delicacies.

Yelena + pregnancy cravings = Kate going to the ends of the earth to look after her smol queen
Kate sits in a meeting. Her phone is on the long conference table. Screen lights up and it's Yelena. Kate sends the call to voicemail. Thirty seconds later, Yelena calls again. Kate rejects the call again. Not ten seconds later the screen lights up one more time and now Kate is like "m'kay well that's not normal..." so she grabs the phone and tries to sneak out but the entire room turns to look at her. She gives them an awkward smile but keeps walking. She exits the conference room and hastily answers the call.
"Babe...what's wrong?"
"Tuna sticks."
"...What?"
"I need tuna sticks."
"Babe...I...what???"
"Tuna sticks. I'm craving tuna sticks."
"Yel, what the hell is a tuna stick?"
"It's a mozzarella stick but with tuna mixed in with the cheese...a tuna stick."
"Love, you can't call me three times in a row because you have a craving. I thought something was wrong. I'm in a meeting. Can I call you back in like an hour?"
"You're always in a meeting."
"Kinda what happens when you're at work."
"Okay, well...I want tuna sticks."
Kate sighs.
"Can you get some delivered???"
"No. They don't exist."
"What do you mean?"
"I keep googling and it doesn't seem like anyone has ever made them before. Can't find them anywhere. It's tuna mixed with cheese and fried. You'd think someone would have thought of this before. It's like a fried tuna melt."
Kate sighs.
"You're asking for something that doesn't exist and you want it while I'm at work..."
"Correct."
"Okay...that's a stretch. On both fronts."
"Fine. Just say you don't love me then if that's easier. Not like I'm carrying your massive baby or anyt..."
Kate forces a smile and nods at the co-worker that just exited the conference room and stares at her.
"Can I get you a tuna melt and mozzarella sticks? That sounds close enough no? If you take a bite of both at the same time it could..."
"No. Tuna sticks, Kate."
"Where the f...okay. Okay...I'm leaving now. Let me see what I can do."
"I love you."
"Yeah yeah."

Kate goes to three diners and two restaurants. No luck. Everyone looks at her like she's a fucking lunatic.
She gets to this small deli ran by an old polish man and his wife. Kate's asks and they're like "Nope. Don't sell that." Kate is about to leave when she doubles back from the door and she's basically like "Listen...my thirty six week pregnant insane but beautiful wife NEEDS THIS. She has texted about a hundred and twenty times asking where I am. If I come home without this I will never know peace again. I will pay you a thousand bucks if you make me SOMETHING that even remotely resembles what I need so I can at least say I tried. HELP A BITCH OUT!!!"
The husband and wife look at each other and laugh. He speaks in his cute little accent like "ohhhh, yes. This one had crazy cravings all the time too. I would get in trouble if I didn't find. Let's see how we help." Kate's ass unclenches because she knows she was in for a hormonal induced rage shitfest if she walked into that apartment empty handed.
So little grandpa takes Kate to the kitchen and half an hour later they've made some Frankensteined fried croquette type thing with cheese and tuna and Kate's like "THIS WILL DO! RING ME UP!" but they're like "On the house!" And Kate's like "nah fam let me pay you." But they're like "Go feed your wife!"

So Kate gets home and she's like..."Your feast, your majesty." Needless to say they're a HIT with the wife (and beeb). Crisis averted.
[This was a whole thing but you can just imagine it now lol. Again...suing tumblr for today's emotional distress]

Kate goes back to the deli the next day with cash in an envelope and gives them five thousand bucks - one for each little "Tuna Stick" they made - and pops and moms start getting emotional cuz they obviously needed the money. And from that day on, Kate always goes out of her way to come visit them and get some food at least once a week. She takes Yelena like a week later for more and they're like "AH YES THE FAMOUS TUNA STICK LADY!". It becomes one of their spots.
Then one day they come with beeb and they find out they're gonna close and Kate's like "?????? Why????" And they're like "we got priced out of the lease" but they've had this shop for like 30 years and lowkey Kate's like "NOT ON MY WATCH." So the next day she does some sneaky work, finds out who owns the place and calls them up. She's like "Hi, yeah, I'm their business manager...the fuck is this I'm hearing about a rent increase???" (But actually she was charming as hell lol. That's how Kate rolls.) Not only does she get them another year at their current price, she pays like two months of their rent and she also tells the owners that they go through her now for any rent negotiations.
So then she goes back and tells them and theyre all 🥺🥺🥺...But then pops has a stroke and dies like five months later and there's no way moms can do this alone so the shop has to close anyway. Then Kate is like "but what are you gonna do???" And the lady is like "I'll just go back to Poland. I still have family there." And Kate is like ☹️☹️☹️ Then she leaves and she promised to stay in touch but never did and Kate never hears from her again.
And that's the story of how Yelena's crazy craving led Kate to a pair of adopted non-homophobic moms and pops for a while. They def added the Tuna Sticks to the menu lol. The gays forever miss those dumb "sticks" after the deli closes. Kate watched pops make them like a hundred times but for some reason she can never replicate it exactly. Must have been magic hand touch or something.

Our routine in Holland is to use our mornings to ease into our days. To sit up in bed, breakfast a little, coffee, tea, reading, writing, listening.
As in December, our morning soundtrack is a Christmas YouTube video featuring delicate piano and music box carols and an animated interior Christmas living room scene: fire in the fireplace, wreath above the hearth, fully trimmed tree, presents under the tree, and heavy snowfall blowing outside the floor to ceiling windows.
Some of yesterday morning involved doctoral program writing. Some of it was blogging. Some of it was reading the first draft of a documentary on youth incarceration I'll be cutting soon. Some of it was installing WhatsApp on my phone because my cousin Theo could not, could not I say, believe a functional adult isn't already using it for messaging. Some of it was installing Google Lens on my phone because, on the advice of my cousin Thamara, Google Lens will translate, overlay dutch text on signs and packaging with English text...
And so on.

Around noon we get ourselves ready to rejoin civilization. Around 1 we walk over to my aunt and uncle's house. It would've taken what Google Maps predicted, twenty minutes, only Kimmer insists on taking pictures of everything along the way.
So yeah. We take a little longer than twenty minutes.
This time around, we're joining my aunt and uncle joined by my aunt's brother-in-law from England who speaks flawless dutch. Then it's my aunt and uncle's daughter, her husband, their two "kids", and us.
On our way into her home, my aunt hands us the coupla boxes of oliebollen mix she picked up for us the previous day.
Score!
And the lunch spread? Dear God. This was an amazing meal my aunt set up for us. Breads both hot and room temp. Meats. Cheeses. Spreads. Butters. Soup! Coffee. Tea. Fanta.
My cousin set me straight about the best combo: a kaiser roll (any roll, really), cut it in half, spread REAL butter on it, spread sandwich spread on it, then set strips of roast beef over the top.
Heaven. ☺️
At the end of lunch, my aunt pulls out a bag of mandarins to pass around and finish the meal.
As always, our time got away from us and, before we knew it, we were fifteen minutes from our next stop with my mom's sister's son at our hotel bar at 4. This is my mom's sister who passed away twenty years ago. My mom's sister. The reason for our last short notice trip to Holland twenty years ago.
So we show up at the hotel bar and it's my cousin, his wife, his dad, and his dad's companion.
And they come bearing gifts.
From my cousin and his wife, a package of full-size stroopwafels. From my uncle and his companion, a print of that iconic photograph of myself and three of my cousins on the boat to or from Slot Loefestein Castle when we were children.
Talk about a trip down memory lane.
One of the best.
Next thing I know, my uncle's pointing toward the lobby and saying
"Look who's here."
So I look up and there's my cousin from waaaaay up north and her boyfriend. She places a Proef Drenthe Drentse Turfjes on my table, a fruit cake specialty of the region of Holland in which she lives.
Her brother orders a coupla plates of bitterballen (mustard and on the side) for us. These are deep-fried, highly seasoned meat balls. About 3-5 centimeters in diameter, bitterballen are small, round versions of meat croquettes.
We also order drinks and, as we wait for the drinks and after those drinks arrive, we talk kids, pandemic, parents, family history, work, travel, and so on.
Eventually we run out the clock and, at quarter after six, we all pile into a pair of cars and head for the center of Gorinchem.
Not long after, we're looking for parking next to the Great Church of Gorinchem near the market and skating rink. After a bit of walking (including a couple wrong turns) we arrive at our destination: restaurant de Hoofdwacht.
It's 630.
I didn't actually know who would be here. The restaurant set up a long table for us that allows for everyone from the hotel bar, my oldest cousin and his wife, the two sons of my aunt whose home we visited the previous night, the sister of my oldest cousin and her husband...
And us.
A full house.
I wish there was some way to capture the experience that ensued. There's just too much happening at the same time from one end of the table to the other. What I can tell you for sure is that saté with pinda sauce is a table favorite for everyone's main course while Crème Brûlée with ice cream on the side is the table favorite for dessert. My cousin sitting next to me introduces me to the "tradition" of fist bumps between everyone who ordered that specialty dessert... although I'm pretty sure he made that up on the spot.
I'm also doing the pumpkin soup for a starter.
To properly set the scene, my older cousins and their wives are down at the wall end of the table catching up. Sitting across from me to my right (ish) are my uncle and his companion. Sitting across from me to my left (ish) is the boyfriend of my cousin from far up north who's an artist and a craftsman. Next to him are my female cousins who make for quite the duo who share an epic story of a night on Queen Ann Hill gone inexplicable and catastrophically off the rails. If the two, the one on the right is the one with her artist/craftsman boyfriend. The one on the left is with her husband who's sitting at the end of the table. To his right which also happens to be to my left are both the youngest and the tallest of all the cousins.
They're brothers, these two, and I'm not super confident I have their names right. So I send a text to my cousin sitting at the corner of the table to my left next to her husband. I catch her attention at the table, tell her to be cool, to check her texts, and laugh about it later if you please.
She laughs right then, of course, but to her credit texts me the name of the cousin sitting next to me...
And all is right in the world. 🙂
And I'm only mildly humiliated. 😐
In the meantime, conversations are happening across the table, side to side, and criss-cross... organically shifting between different family members and back again. I talk to my cousin on the left a bunch, covering a broad range of topics from deep family history to ChatGPT. His brother on the other side of him joined us for the ChatGPT portion of our evening, by the way. 🙂
Sadly, I can't do full justice to this table scene other than to characterize it as controlled chaos punctuated by laughter. As relentless conversation powered by genuine interest and affection. As motion and passion and energy shaped by personal history and relationships. As the bonds of family wrapped in easy best-friendships.
I don't know how else to say it.
I don't know of an easier way to say it.
These people are unique in my life. They are specific to me. And their presence is thoroughly addicting in the best way ever.
And yeah.
I could get used to this.
By 10:30 that night, four hours later, it's time for us to say goodbye which takes another half hour out of our seats, near the table, standing about in further expressions of farewell and love and gratitude.
By eleven we're out the door, back onto the wet cobblestone, walking to our various cars.
Eventually it's just Kimmer 'n I walking with my oldest cousin and his wife. I'm not sure what we're talking about just then, but I remember we're walking a narrow lane at night when my cousin asks
"Do you have plans for Friday?"
And while we continue walking, thinking about what plans we might have, his wife pitches us with
"Do you want one?"
Oh dear. Yes.
So they conjure the outline of a plan for Friday that, well, we'll see what happens Friday.
Soon enough, they're dropping us at our hotel and we're making sure we stay connected beyond our stay. That we continue to be helpful to each other, present in whatever way we can be in each other's lives.
And then we're waving goodbye as they drive home.
The end of our day in our hotel is straight-up anticlimax after what we just experienced this night. But it's still important.
It's my dad's birthday, you see. And, after about an hour of troubleshooting with T-Mobile because I'm no longer able to make international phone calls, I reach out to him through my mom's Facebook messenger wi-fi calling function.
Amazingly, my dad picks up after a few rings. I really didn't know that this would work but—
Huzzah!
And then I'm talking to my dad, wishing him a Happy Birthday, giving him the abbreviated version of the day we just experienced...
And the family with whom we shared that experience.
Because seriously.
I could get used to this.

VEGETABLE CROQUETTES
1/2 cup vegetable oil, approximately
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 cup chopped cooked cabbage
2 chopped, cooked carrots
10 ounce package frozen spinach, thawed
3 cups mashed potatoes
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
1/2 cup matzo meal, approximately
Heat 2 tablespoons vegetable oil in a sauté pan over medium heat. Add the onion and cook for 3-4 minutes or until softened. Spoon the onions into a bowl. Add the cabbage, carrots, spinach, mashed potatoes and some salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly and shape the mixture into 1/2-inch patties. Place the matzo meal on a plate. Press both sides of each patty into the crumbs. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. Heat 2-3 tablespoons vegetable oil in the sauté pan over medium heat. Fry the patties a few at a time (leave plenty of space between each) for 3-4 minutes per side or until crispy and golden brown, adding more vegetable oil to the pan as needed.

I haven't seen my "man" in the 5 solid months since we "got together". At this point I wasn't even sure if I had one anymore. We've talked almost every single day but for the past month, Yoongi has been irritable. I left it alone after that and just decided to make him American dishes. I'm making my favorites and various meats. Honestly i'm making too much and I started very early this morning at about 4. Now it was 2 pm and my dad and little sister were here.
"Honey, that's a lot of food. You say you and this young man have only been together for 5 months and you're going all out for him. Are you sure this isn't....too much?"
"Dad, I don't know what he likes so its not too much, plus I'm giving you and Joy some of everything. You won't have to cook for at least a week. That's a good thing."

I was making mashed potatoes, cornbread, corn beef and cabbage, chicken (both fried and baked), steak, corn, string beans, broccoli, asparagus, macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes, ribs, spaghetti and salmon croquettes, rice, pork chops and biscuits. I know its a lot but I don't know what he likes. I also made a gumbo.

I stepped out of the shower at 7pm on the nose.  I didn't want to see him for the first time in months smelling like chicken and grease. Major turn off.
Assuming it was safe to dress comfortably I put on leggings and a graphic tee. Then I combed my wet hair into a single braided ponytail.
Next was for me to wait. I sat down in my living room and texted my sister. She was asking me how the date was, to keep her updated and to ask about the other guys in BTS.
I texted her back telling her that she doesn't need any type of feedback on my dating life cause she's too young. But I told her I will ask about her "boys".
I was switching between different apps when I finally got a text from Yoongi. It said he was close.
I stood up because I was feeling way too anxious. Pacing back in forth between my couches.
Finally the door bell rang. Quickly, I walked to the front door. Taking a deep breath, I opened the door.
In front of me was Yoongi. His face was pretty expressionless but he looked good. Better than I remembered. As I stared at the handsome man before me I began to smile. "Hey Yoongi." I said as I stepped aside so he could come in. "Hey." He said walking in. He watched me close and lock the door but didn't say anything else. "You.....you look good. How was the flight?" I asked as I tried to think of something to say. "Thanks. It was....long. So..." he replied as he adjusted his bag. "I'm sorry. But atleast you get to relax and get comfortable tonight right?" "Right." He said dryly. I could see he was still irritable and grouchy like he's been all month. Hopefully food would fix it.
"Well, you can just drop your bag right by the stairs and we can eat. I know you're hungry after that long flight."
He nodded his head as he walked slowly to put his bag down.
I lead him into the kitchen. "Okay, so there is a lot of stuff here. I didn't know what you would like so I made lots of different stuff. So eat what you like." I handed him a plate and stepped back.
He took it and walked over to the island. Every time he opened a lid or top I would tell him what it is. Occasionally I would apologize because he didn't know what it was. It was a nerve wracking thing, I felt so nervous watching him.
Once he filled his plate he asked for another one. After handing him one he filled it with all of the meat I made.
He walked over to the table and sat down with both of his plates. "Do you need me to heat anything up?" I asked.
"No." I nodded once before I walked off to make my own. When I sat down in front of him I was shocked to see how much he had already eaten. I didn't say anything though, and we ate in silence because I didn't want to upset him. ————
After dinner he had got up and went straight to the sink to wash out his dishes. I began putting food away in the fridge. Thank god for my dad taking home half of everything cause I wouldn't have had enough space for this.
When I found a place for everything I noticed Suga was leaning against the wall by the doorway watching me. "You okay?" I asked as I walked over to him, "Yeah. Where can we sit and talk?"
I led us to the living room and sat down on the couch. He stood a few feet in front of me. He was just looking at me, standing there with his hands in his pocket. "What's wrong Yoongi?" "Thank you for dinner." He bypassed my question. "It was my pleasure." I told him genuinely.
A few moments of silence passed before he spoke again. "You have a nice house." "Thank you." I replied. "It's um....really nice. Like, big and extravagant." "Yes.....you could say that." "How are you able to afford it?" I was taken aback. Like what was this about? Why was he concerned? "I don't have to "afford" it." I use air quotes when I said afford. "It's mine. I bought it, I own it. I'm able to pay my bills thanks to my job." I could feel my attitude coming on. "As a hairstylist?" "Yes." "Hairstylist money bought you this house?" "Not completely, but hairstylist money has provided me with all of the things inside of it." "Okay, so what did you do to get money for the house." "Excuse me?" "How were you able to afford the house?" "Okay. Wait just a second. What is this about, and what are you getting at? It seems like you have something to say and it would probably just be easier if you get to the point."
"Okay..."
I shrugged my shoulders in a "ok and i'm waiting" gesture.
"Well what I'm really trying to ask....is.....do you do anything else to get money?"
I stared at him unblinking for quite some time.
"Say it."
"I did."
"No, say what you think I do for money."
Now it was his turn to stare at me, unblinking.
"hello?"
"Alright, fine." He took a deep breath. "Are you a stripper?"
5...4...3...2...1.
"Are you fucking serious right now?"
He looked surprised by my outburst, but then he covered his reaction with a stoic expression.
"People who shouldn't even know who you are do, and a few of my friends from Korea say you look familiar and they only come to America for 1 thing. Lets not forget to mention the types of pictures you take and your.....butt."

I stood up and walked past him out to the foyer. Before going up the stairs I turned around. "You can sleep in whatever room you want, and anything you may need should be in there. If you don't mind being in my fucking stripper house." Then I proceeded up the stairs.

An hour had gone by since I came upstairs. I was in my room fuming when my phone rang. It was Yoongi. I waited until it stopped ringing so I could continue watching videos on my phone.
A few seconds later my door opened. I looked up from my phone and seen Yoongi standing in my doorway. He was wearing a white t-shirt and shorts so I'm assuming he just showered.

"I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. Very sorry. I don't know what I was I thinking. Or why I thought what I said made sense. I'm sorry for my disrespect."
I wanted to forgive him but I just couldn't shake my attitude. I was so mad. Just as I was about to express my frustrations he began talking.

We live so far apart and have such different cultures it was overwhelming to think of all of the work we have to do to actually have a relationship. "So now what?"
"I don't know. We can't cram everything into my free days. We just don't have enough time to truly get to know each other. So....I don't know."
"Sounds like you know to me." I said.
He looked down, then off to the side.
"Well, whatever you decide, I'm....cool with." I lied. "But as I said before, make yourself comfortable anywhere you'd like. My home is still open to you while you're here."
"Thank you." He said.
There was brief moment of silence before he waved and then walked out of the room.
I wanted to cry I was so mad. I just felt like we haven't even tried. But that's what my forward ass gets for always tryna make something happen.

"You play basketball?" "All throughout grade school. Stopped in college." I said wiping the sweat off my forehead with the towel I kept in my pocket. "You never told me that." "Oh." "Can I play?" "Sure." I was about to turn and leave but he stopped me. "I mean with you." He said. "Oh...yeah. Sure."
As we were playing one on one I noticed that he was a really defensive player. So far I had just been playing politely but the more the game went on, the more I saw his face, the angrier I got. So now, I was gonna play for real.
My shift in stance and seriousness didn't go unnoticed by Yoongi. He smirked. He thought he would by pass me but he couldn't. I was there, guarding him at every turn and move he made. The only thing he could do was try to take the shot. When he went for it, I stole the ball. After making my shot his mouth dropped open. When I came back to him and passed him the ball I told him to close his mouth before something flew in. Immediately he closed it shut. His face changed too and I noticed he was now determined to win. Good. He'll be crying by the end of this game.
I won. Much to Yoongi's dismay. "You're good." He told me as he stood there breathing heavily. "So are you." Before he could say anything else I went into my house. I went straight to my bathroom to shower. Maybe 10 minutes of being in there I heard a knock on the door. I ignored it. I was still in my feelings so I really didn't want to talk to Yoongi. I inwardly rolled my eyes as I washed my hair. "Nothing. Cause you obviously didn't take much interest in our conversations to notice." "It hard to notice someone's characteristics through the phone. So if you don't say it directly then I don't know."

He was quiet for quite some time. The whole time it took me to wash the conditioner out of my hair it was silent.
Not caring to wait for his response I stepped out of the shower. I grabbed my towel off the rack and began drying off quickly. Then I wrapped the towel around my body and walked over to the mirror to view my curls I've worked so hard to make prominent. The mirror was too foggy to see out of. I turned to the door, where Yoongi was frozen. His cheeks were slightly pink and his mouth was open.
I didn't care that he saw me naked. "Excuse me." I said. He stepped aside from in front of the door and opened it for me. I walked out into my room and grabbed my hair towel that I keep folded tightly by my vanity and dried my hair to stop it from dipping. When I saw my curls I smiled. "Yessss. Okay now curls." I said to myself. I was very proud that my natural curl pattern was a lot more defined now.
I walked over to one of my dressers and started taking out clothes to wear when my phone rang. It was my little sister.
"Hey Joy." I said using her nickname mom gave her. "Hey Pride. Um....I know Suga is there but I need your help." "Now what does Suga being here have to do with anything? You know you can come over here no matter what. What do you need help with?" "My hair." She laughed. "Oh I'm thinking it was an emergency or something, but okay. Is dad gonna bring you?" "Yes. We'll be there in like 30 minutes." "Okay." "Bye love you." "Love you too."
I hung up and began getting dressed. "Do you want me to leave?" Yoongi asked. "You already seen me naked there's no difference now." I said. "No not because of that because your family is coming over."
I looked at him, and noticed that he wasn't looking at me. I sighed.
"Of course I don't want you to leave. You only have one day left to relax. You can stay here." "Okay." He said before he walked out of the room. ————
"Wow." I turned around and saw Suga near the stairs behind me. "What?" I asked as I finished locking the door my family just left out of. He didn't answer me right away. He walked over to me and stopped when we were practically touching. "You're.......amazing." I blinked. "Why do you say that?" "The way you are with your family. It's......adorable....and I like it." I thought about how Suga watched very interestedly as I did my sister's hair, how he talked to dad about music and both of their careers and how he seemed to really enjoy the conversation. It was so attractive to me, to see him being so pleasant with them and seeming relaxed. That didn't matter now though.
"Thanks." I said "Sure." He smiled at me. "You know what I know about you?" He asked. "What?" "You're caring." He kissed me. My body, moving on its own accord made me kiss him back immediately. Unfortunately he broke the kiss. "You're protective." He kissed me again. "Silly." Kiss "Outgoing" Kiss "Smart" Kiss "Hot headed" Kiss "And beautiful." Kiss. Every time he pulled away from me I felt like I was being deprived of something. His soft but passionate kisses made me feel weak in the knees. Before I could deepen this kiss he pulled away from me. "And you know how to play basketball." He laughed. "Shutup." I laughed before pulling him back to me for another kiss. I was finally able to kiss him the way I wanted to. It turned into a full blown make-out session in my foyer. After what felt like hours Yoongi broke the kiss. "You know what else I know?" He asked me. "What?" "You have a stripper booty." He said as he grabbed my butt playfully. I straight faced him and pushed him away, causing him to laugh out loud. "Too soon? I'm sorry." He said between his laughter. "Ha ha ha." I said dryly trying to walk past him. He grabbed my hand and pulled me back. Back into a kiss. Making me forget I'm supposed to be mad at him.

1. What’s the last thing you ate? Mom cooked up a feast for breakfast and we had fried rice with bacon strips, sweet ham, beef tapa, and scrambled egg. Had mine with chili garlic oil and every bite had just been chef’ssssssss kisssssssss.
2. What’s your favourite cheese? I really like feta cheese. Could eat it on its own for days.
3. What’s your favourite fish? I’m gonna guess this is in the context of food considering the general direction I can see this survey going – I like tuna, eel, and tilapia.
4. What’s your favourite fruit? If I really had to pick, avocado. But still, I can only appreciate it in very limited forms.
5. When, if ever, did you start liking olives? So I hated olives for the longest time, but starting last year my view on them softened a little bit when my dad made up a certain dish that included olives that ended up tasting really good. I might still take it out of pizza and stuff but at least I’m not as disgusted by them as I used to be.
6. When, if ever, did you start liking beer? I still hate beer. I do have it just because it’s the universal socializing drink lol, but I’ve never found genuine pleasure in drinking it.
7. When, if ever, did you start liking shellfish? Early teen years when I was growing up and my tastebuds were expanding and all – my mom was making me cheese-stuffed baked mussels by the time I was 11 or 12. 
8. What was the best thing your mum/dad/guardian used to make? So my answer isn’t something that was made from scratch, but my mom used to buy Pillsbury’s chocolate chip cookie mix and our househelp used to have them baked and ready every afternoon when I’d come home from school. That recipe was *INNNSANELY* good and I was gutted when my mom said that they probably discontinued it since she gradually stopped seeing it at the grocery :(((
9. What’s the native specialty of your hometown? It’s so closely associated with my hometown that if I name it I feel like it’d then be too easy to narrow down where I’m from, so I’ll just name some dishes that my country is generally known for hehe – we have adobo, kare-kare (my fave), adobo, sinigang, bulalo, sisig, balut, nilaga, what have you.
10. What’s your comfort food? Dynamite rolls with spicy tuna salad on the side. I’ll never get tired of sushi.
11. What’s your favourite type of chocolate? Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, if it counts. I’m not really a fan of pure chocolate, and I tend to enjoy it more if with peanut butter.
12. How do you like your steak? Medium rare or honestly just rare. 
13. How do you like your burger? Spicy mayo or any mayo-based sauce, coleslaw, caramelized onions. But when it comes to ‘burgers’ I also actually prefer chicken sandwiches over beef burgers, so.
14. How do you like your eggs? Scrambled or over easy.
15. How do you like your potatoes? French fries and croquettes. I’m not super big on a lot of potato dishes.
16. How do you take your coffee? Iced coffee is the standard for me now, but flavor-wise I really can go both ends of the spectrum – some days you’ll see me ordering a whole ass Americano; and other days I’ll have more of a sweet tooth and get something with lots of sugar and flavoring and whipped cream and all.
17. How do you take your tea? I never liked tea. I’ve tried, but it’s just not to my liking.
18. What’s your favourite mug? I have a purple mug that is actually an excess unit from a client that they just decided to give away to us when it didn’t have any use anymore, and I’ve been using that since I received it.
19. What’s your biscuit or cookie of choice? Starbucks’ Dark Chocolate Macadamia Cookie fixes all my problems. AND REENA’S COOKIES. THEY ARE THE BOMB.
20. What’s your ideal breakfast? Fried rice with a whole smorgasbord of options – eggs, hotdogs, bacon, luncheon meat, hashbrowns, the whole heavenly shebang. I miss hotel buffets but luckily my mom makes us breakfast ‘buffets’ every Sunday :)  21. What’s your ideal sandwich? Banh mi with lemongrass chicken.
22. What’s your ideal pizza: Quattro formaggi, if I’m spelling it right? Haha but four-cheese pizza, essentially. Never really was a fan of meat on my pizza unless it’s barbecue chicken.
23. What’s your ideal pie (sweet or savoury)? Chicken pot pie. No sweet pies for me because most of the time those contain fruits anyway.
24. What’s your ideal salad? Spicy tuna salad is the way, the truth, and the life.
25. What food do you always like to have in the fridge? I can’t speak for foods, but I do always want to keep an ample supply of soju in the fridge just in case I have friends come over, or...simply just in case I want to drink on a work night haha.
26. What food do you always like to have in the freezer? My mom and sister are obsessed with ice cream so we always have a tub or two in the freezer.
27. What food do you always like to have in the cupboard? Canned food for emergencies.
28. What spices can you not live without? I don’t cook but generally I find spices super essential haha. Cumin is a particular favorite of mine.
29. What sauces can you not live without? Spicy mayo.
30. Where do you buy most of your food? It’s a local chain of grocery stores you wouldn’t have heard about.
31. How often do you go food shopping? I think my mom does the groceries every other week.
33. What’s the most expensive piece of kitchen equipment you own? Probably the fridge or maybe the range? I’m not sure, my parents paid for everything we have in the kitchen.
34. What’s the last piece of equipment you bought for your kitchen? I think it had been the microwave.
35. What piece of kitchen equipment could you not live without? I don’t cook so I honestly don’t have an answer for you, hahaha.
36. How many times a week/month do you cook from raw ingredients? Zero.
37. What’s the last thing you cooked from raw ingredients? I haven’t tried doing that yet.
38. What meats have you eaten besides cow, pig and poultry? Crocodile, frog, carabao, lamb. I think that’s been it so far.
39. What’s the last time you ate something that had fallen on the floor? Idk but probably recently as I don’t shy away from doing this as long as it’s only been like, 5 seconds.
40. What’s the last time you ate something you’d picked in the wild? I don’t think I’ve ever done this.
41. Arrange the following in order of preference: Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Indian, Thai, Sushi. Indian, Thai, *Japanese (why is ‘Sushi’ its own category??? There’s a whole ass Japanese cuisine that exists?), Chinese, Mexican, Italian.

47. Pick a city. What are the best dining experiences you’ve had in that city? Japan. We had this amazing sushi platter that was a bunch of fish that I still don’t even know about to this day since the entire menu was in Japanese. But it was great and I’d love to go back to that very same restaurant if I find myself back in Fukuoka.
48. What’s your choice of tipple at the end of a long day? Soju.
49. What’s the next thing you’ll eat? I won’t be eating anymore tonight so my next meal would most likely be dinner tomorrow evening already; and I still have no idea what I’ll be having.
50. Are you hungry now? No, I just finished dinner.
51. Do you eat your breakfast everyday? No.
52. At what time do you have breakfast? I skip it.
53. At what time do you have lunch? I also skip it most of the time but sometimes I’ll take a few bites during my lunch break at work.

55. At what time do you have dinner? 7 or 8 PM, depends on what time I start feeling lightheaded honestly, lol.

57. Do you light candles during dinner? I’ve never done that and don’t see why I should.
58. How many chairs are there in your dining room and who sits in the main chair? We have six chairs and we have dad sit at the head of the chair.
59. Do you eat and drink using your right hand or the left one? I can do either but it’s predominantly with my right.

62. What fruit and vegetable do you like the least? I don’t like any fruits; as for vegetables, I have no plans in trying ampalaya.

69. What’s your favourite snack? Pringles! That is for junk food. As for food to snack on, I really like pizza, mozzarella sticks, and spicy chicken wings.

71. What’s your favourite ice cream flavour? Chocolate chip cookie dough with cookie dough chunks YUM, and also cookies and cream.
72. What’s your favourite potato chip flavour? Nothing beats salted egg ever since I tried it for the first time.

74. What’s your favourite pizza? Four cheese or barbecue.
75. What’s your favourite type of dish? Something spicy and savory, like chicken curry or anything with kimchi.

78. Do you eat homemade food, or food delivered from outside? I have both, but the former more often because having food delivery everyday for every meal just sounds so wasteful.
80. Who cooks at home? Parents do. Nina will sometimes cook too.

82. How do you keep yourself fit? I...honestly don’t. I’m naturally petite so I’ve always felt little need to exercise and all, but I do really need to stop neglecting my health in the little things, like actually remembering to drink water throughout the day or doing stretches here and there.
