Posted 🐺💥👣📼 @superrobot74 . TMNT VHS Here is something different, I thought I’d share some prop work. These are packaging, labels and stickers for the different VHS tapes laying around the Tmnt lair. Every tape was specific to its show run era that we were copying. The Super-Robo show was designed by @riekoga_ as it’s an authentic anime! The Bradford designs are @irineos_instacrap_doodles and the space Heroes TNG were done by @glenmurakami . I remember making that family home entertainment style video box art for a white clamshell for SuperRobot but I think the rest were laid out by @tomservo84 . There are lots of laughs here with some of these titles. We were always inspired by wacky packages trading cards. When the series ended I had actually pitched a show called “Mikey’s Cartoon Calvacade” where every week you would get a mix of the shows they watched and it would cut back to the actual Cg turtles commenting, it would have been like watching tv with the turtles. I don’t think that was ever taken seriously at all, but I would have loved that for a long time. This is an idea I came up with, I think it has the potential to be an amazing lawrusso fic. The idea came from me listening to Take It On The Run by REO Speedwagon. I’d write it myself but I’m terrible with time management and would never get it done, so maybe a dedicated writer will want to do this and do it justice.

The combined dojos students are snooping through Daniel’s stuff at the dojo and find a bunch of tapes labeled JL-DL 86’ (any year, it doesn’t matter). One of the kids figures it’s about their sensei’s so they put it on the tv and it turns out to be a video of Daniel singing the song with a fake mic in Johnny’s pajamas (it would be cool to see someone point out some of the similarities between Miguel and Daniel if they are made to be around the same age) the kids can tell it’s Johnny behind the camera. Once it gets to the guitar solo Johnny sets the camera down and goes up to Daniel and they start to dance to to guitar. (At this moment the present Johnny and Daniel could walk in a start getting in their feels seeing the video) The kids are obviously in shock and seeing them act like a couple so many years before they all met and got to know the duo. As the solo ends Daniel turns and starts singing to Johnny as he hands him a random object to makes his own mic out of. The kids watch as they sing like complete love sick dorks to each other. While watching their younger selves, Johnny grabs Daniel and wraps his around around his waist, and Daniel puts his own hands over Johnnys. Once the song finishes all the kids are in their feels. They all decide to go and find their sensei’s but as they go to leave they all get shocked to see them behind them. The ending is writers choice.

Whoever wants to writes this go ahead just let me know so I can read it :)

you can see how much more budget the last few vhs films had, and while i miss the simplicity of the first one, i'm not complaining either - the series comes across like a huge playground that everyone seems to have fun with & i like that they use different directors for every installment

#the shorts with the sentient zombies and the serial killer family being interconnected is fun actually #they are stretching the found footage aspect a little bit but it's fine imho #i like how they use the look and the vibe of the different decades re echnological progress when it comes to tv/film and homevideos #also the 'commercial breaks' and 'documentaries' in between are fun #it's definitely gotten away from the first one #but there's something loving it's like a big collage
