Okay hear me out—Mike takes a turn watching Max at the hospital, and he accidentally falls asleep. He “wakes up” to the monitor beeping rapidly and then just flatlining. He’s screaming for help, but no one seems to be coming and all at once he realizes that it’s not Max on the bed, it’s Will. And then we just hear, “See, Michael? See what happens?”

Re : homophobia in the fandom (I'm a different anon, to be clear)
People constantly get upset when others call Soleil gay/bi and it's honestly so exhausting to the point I don't even post about her in public. Understanding the (lesphobic) context in which she was written (as a straight girl whos courtship of women is a signifier of innocence and ignorance) is important to understanding her character, but that doesn't mean people shouldn't HC her as gay anyway. She'd honestly be better (see : less homophobic) if she were written to be queer. It's just annoying how insistent people are on saying she is straight. She isn't, not to me. I think she kisses the fujoshi girl silly style.

nah but helluva boss is unironically the mspec rep i've dreamed of for years. a big anxiety around bi/pan characters is worries that if they end up in a same gender relationship they'll be assumed monosexual gay, and in a different gender relationship they'll look 'straight', or that their same gender attraction didn't count/was fetishizing or queerbaity (which is SO wrong but unfortunately people will make these biphobic assumptions)
hb addresses these issues by showing a wide variety of mspec characters with different but equally valid experiences. we have pansexual blitzo, a loving father, chronic flirt and casual hookup king, with a masc presentation and a history of mostly men, but still very much pan and his general leanings don't change that at all. we have millie, bicurious based on how excited she was to know what sex with verosika was like. verosika and her entire gang of kinky succubi with no gender preference.
we have moxxie. moxxie moxxie moxxie my sweet sweet beloved moxxie, the vanilla, happily monogamous with his gorgeous wife he thinks he doesn't deserve but would do anything for. who scoffs at stereotypical assumptions of him being a 'sissy' and his wife being a 'beard' just because of his past relationship with a man, his traditionally feminine interests and submissive bedroom leanings. who indulges in crossdressing without embarrassment, who loves theatre, phantom especially, has a crush on michael crawford he is able to share openly with his wife, who he loves and is committed to and she understands that. WHO IS PROUDLY BISEXUAL AND SAYS SO TO HIS ABUSIVE, HOMOPHOBIC AND BIPHOBIC FATHER. i nearly sobbed.
beyond the examples i've talked about here, basically everyone in hb is clearly written with the intent of "mspec until said/shown otherwise" (eg stolas). it makes sense how true it all hits when vivienne medrano herself is bisexual.
basically the solution to Avoiding Stereotypes of a marginalized identity in your writing is...put a lot of representation and show the width of experiences there can be. even crass, largely unsubtle helluva boss understands that. be better!!

AITA For not taking in my ex-best friend?
So I (mid-20s M) was recently approached by my ex-best friend, V (also mid-20s M), where he asked me for a place to stay after his now ex-girlfriend kicked him out (for reasons unknown to me). We've known each other since we were kids, but we ended up cutting each other off. For context, I'm gay and V's sense of humor makes me extremely uncomfortable. He says he isn't actually homophobic and that they're just jokes, and he also tells me that I take things too seriously. I think he took it as a huge betrayal to our friendship, and now he "jokingly" threatens to out me to our mutual friends. I could never get over it, and when he asked me for help, I snapped at him and told him that he shouldn't expect such a huge favor from me. He has nowhere to go now, and I have no idea if he'll survive on his own.

hii !! Could u tell more ab ur oc laurel/griddlebone? :3
haiii i hav some bullet points for a list i haven’t posted yet, so here’s what i hav for laurel/griddlebone (warning for mention of religious abuse, homophobia)
- 22. Goes from 5’9 to 7’1 after becoming Griddlebone. She/it lesbian. Doesn’t rlly care about gender. agnostic, forced to participate in her family’s church-going or they’ll out her. has bpd. Born in Tennessee. Nordic descent
- Ate part of the carcass of a wolf, which had genes from a pet Maine Coon cat it ate, which had genes from a millipede. Was abused by a church member, ran away into the woods to escape, hid out for a couple days, ate the carcass to try and survive. (the wolf was infected n is important to other characters, will talk ab that in another post)
- Weapon: none —> her own weapon (claws, teeth, etc.) as Griddlebone.
- Mostly resembles a white Maine Coon in her transformed state. Long and lanky like a centipede though, n has those millipede legs along the bottom of her tail. (shown in a drawing i posted) Tail never visibly ends. Has a ribbon on it from Ibyang. Hard of hearing due to white cat genes.
- very romantic, obsesses over her crushes but isn’t very social. gets a bit more open after meeting ibyang n her friends (adelaide n jo.) also ummmm eats ppl … hehe
frequented the restaurant ibyang would do drum covers at, but never met her before she became griddlebone. that name is in reference to the Cats (musical) character, a name given to laurel by ibyang (a big fan of the 1998 film n knows a lot of Cats trivia.) laurel looooves rock/metal/punk etc.
my inspo for her comes from a lot of lauren bousfield’s mewsic, n my own experiences growing up in Tennessee, such as the homophobia n other things i experienced from christian ppl around me (also to clarify, what i create isn’t ever anti-religion, just critical of the ppl who shared those bigoted views)

on [2 grump 2 furious] @imkirb said: objectively these high temps suck cus global warming, but ngl i like the heat much more than cold so im kinda grateful fjgjgh
that is totally valid, living in a place where the weather is Not For You sucks regardless of what type of weather you prefer. (and really the unseasonable cold is also a symptom of climate change, the jet stream that tends to keep the cold arctic air to canada and the northern us is becoming more unstable and more able to wobble waaay down south compared to where it’s previously been, that’s likely what caused those massive ice storms at the end of december)
@ceylonsilvergirl added a [caption] to [shrug] that says “time to say FUCK IT!”
sometimes you really do just gotta say fuck it.
on [facedown] @passiveturmoil said: me after losing family scrabble
I’m very bad at scrabble, and anything involving anagrams etc. my brain sees the letters in one order and goes “I mean like that is probably a word” and just leaves them there.

that’s very sweet :’) but even the ones that didn’t live long got to share a tiny bit of their little bug life with you and I think that’s still something to be happy about.

thank you! I don’t remember if it was at the time or not. (today is okay though. our other partner gave us the info for their plane tickets for next month and after I finish catching up on the little things I’ve put off I get to play more lego game.)

on [isekai] @northeasternwind said: SLIDES IN WITH MY USELESS KNOWLEDGE the reason for the absurd titles is because most of these are published as novels first on a specific website..... which does not allow authors to write a summary, description or synopsis. so you literally have to choose what to read based on the cover art and the title alone. (sidenote, my favorite type of Isekai is otome Isekai, with the more specific subgenre of villainess Isekai, in which the main character is reincarnated as the villainess of an otome game and then proceeds to girlboss her way into happiness. Unfortunately, only a couple of them have the OG heroine actually be a decent person :c) also I'm sure we know this but Kirby and the Forgotten Land is of course an Isekai. 😂😂😂 oh this is not me trying to change your mind by the way I'm just infodumping in the replies because this post activated my brain oops. you may even know all this already 😂 apologie
lol you are totally fine, I love it when people are excited about stuff! I’ve seen a lot of villainess otome isekai being officially translated into english lately, so it’s good your favorite subgenre is so well fed right now (at least in the english-reading market), even if it’s still hard to find the ones that fit just the right niche.
katfl falls into the same isekai niche as a gentle noble’s vacation recommendation (at least as far as the first volume lol) in which neither the home world nor the otherworld are basically the real earth modern day. one could argue that katfl’s otherworld is still earth, I’m p sure many have, but as it’s a distant future earth it’s really not the same thing imo. (I do not personally like when one of the worlds involved is basically real earth modern day.)
on [goo] @hobgirl said: i know this is abt chronic illness, but summer also.
it can be about whatever makes you feel like you’re slowly dissolving into a pile of goo, that’s how art works -u-
on [goo] @northeasternwind said: /gathers you both up and sets you  in a nice breathable supportive pillow fort :(
that sounds so nice ty ;n;
(and thank you to @ceylonsilvergirl, @opportunity-strikes, @macro-microcosm, and @0-jayless-0 for the well wishes on [sick], and my condolences to the person who reblogged it with “MOOD AGAIN” XD I may never be truly Well, but at least I am much less nauseous for now!)
on [lego] @ceylonsilvergirl said: this is a situation I’ve found myself in with my son multiple times. thank goodness they’re nontoxic
yeah good thing they tried to plan ahead for that. (this reminds me of that one post that’s like “what would you do if you had a box with a little bit of god in it? well that box is your body stop eating markers.” lol)
on [lego] @jeaniechibi said: i get the urge to eat them as well buddy with how shiny and yellow they are; but there's better actual cheese out there! so which lego games will you get? 👀 i loved lego star wars as a kid and lego H*rry Potter! (before i learned that JKR is. y'know. like that)
I used to bite them to pull stubborn pieces apart, like those little flat blocks.
my wife and I bought lego hp years ago and then stopped playing it when jkr decided to dump her whole public image in the toilet for good (and cuz the split screen in the second half was making me nauseous >n< ), cuz it really destroyed my wife’s relationship with the series. (personally I’m of the opinion that while it is genuinely important and valuable to be aware of a creator’s Terrible Opinions and not just sweep them under the rug because they made a thing you like, you’re not like, ethically required to publicly disavow the thing and burn every tie you ever had to it. I grew up with hp, and while as an adult it’s much easier for me to see how her assorted Terrible Opinions made their way into the series and that the whole thing is overall pretty mediocre at best, I still have a lot of affection for the time I spent with it and some fandom works and so on and I don’t think it actually helps anyone to throw that away or pretend it isn’t true. but then again I also grew up deeply enjoying orson scott card books while knowing (and hating) full well even at the time that he was homophobic, so maybe I just have more practice at letting my affection for a piece of art and my disdain for the artist coexist without either one swallowing up the other.)
so, anyway, we already had a copy of lego hp that was like half finished so I 100%ed that during the beginning portion of this month since not playing it doesn’t affect whether or not she got paid for it years ago, then a couple days ago I bought lego city undercover which I’m having a lot of fun with (although some of the humor there too has uhhhhh Aged Poorly we’ll say). I’ve played the versions of lego star wars and lego indiana jones that were on the ds and enjoyed them a lot but I have trouble playing handhelds now with my vision and joint issues, and my wife said we can get the new version of lego star wars to play together instead but she hasn’t quite gotten around to it yet lol. I think I’ll get the dc and marvel ones too, even though I don’t personally care much for superhero stuff, just cuz I really really like lego gameplay and they’re on a really really good sale. (and we’re in kind of a holding pattern until mid-march when we find out where my wife has to move for work next so. might as well do nothing but keep up with bare minimum chores and play lego games until then.) maybe even the lego movie 2 game, just cuz. more lego gameplay. they’re good for me to have on hand I think, especially when they’re 80% off XD

The fire emblem fandom believe itself to be open and LGBT friendly but it's not.
There's this type of people who dismiss gay ship like Chrom x M!Robin or Marianne x Hilda by saying they're just friends or like siblings and despite always saying that for gay ship and never for straight ship, they keep maintaining that there's no homophobia at play... Once had one of the very same person with such stance, defended by the other too, ask me in DM if I was raped as a kid because I'm gay.
There's this slightly popular artist who portray lesbian as predatory all the time, who get into argument to say Shamir is straight and who immediately changed his OC design once someone pointed out they had the color of the bi flag with not even the slighest pushback.
There's all those M!Edeleth fan who act like it's a great injustice that the gay version is more popular. I saw them getting confronted, one them went on rant about modern feminism and one of them that was a mod banned one of the comment for being "scathing to straight guy".
There's all those conservative twitter user with the vatican flag in their name and a fire emblem pfp which stance I don't think I need to describe.
There was this harassment campaign towards a F!Edeleth fic on Tumblr and AO3.
There was pushback against a M!Dimileth fanzine because it didn't include F!Dimileth.
This is only a bunch of personal experience, but this type of stuff is common in the fandom and it's genuinely sad. I didn't mention other relating to aphobia or transphobia because it's already a long ask, but those are just as present, why does it have to be like that?

he is on my brain so here's John Fawcett!
John lives in a small costal town in England around the late 1800s/early 1900s! He ended up getting socially ostracized for homophobia reasons and took up the job of being the town's lighthouse keeper.. he starts off very lonely and bitter (reasonably so), and especially hurt bc it seems like his childhood friend Roman broke a promise they made to always be in contact (Roman left the town for university). So he's just kinda stewing in this for a while until one stormy night when Roman shows up on his doorstep-- and it looks like he's turning into some kinda. Fish? Thing?
John naturally takes Roman in and tries to help him figure out what is going on with him, they become very good friends again and eventually become partners (and they do get married! even if it's not legally recognized. They also have a kid!). They make a nice life for themselves and are very much happy and in love :]
Oh yea also John is gay and trans! I feel like that almost is implied w/most of my ocs svdbdgsvs. Here's some pics of him that I have on me phone

in a similar vein of “suggesting any degree of nuance feels intimidating sometimes” the flower that seems to truly dance was pretty sweet. it’s set in the early 1940s in japan, and it’s mentioned that the protagonist was working in germany with his father prior to the beginning of the story. (he and his father are both architects.)
but wouldn’t you fucking know it, the average civilian life in japan in the 1940s was an awful lot the average civilian life in, say, england in the 1940s. fears of conscription and air raids, personally dear arts venues being shut down, rationing, and so on. almost like a lot of the people were just people trying to live their lives while suddenly tossed into this enormous messy war by a specific handful of powerful men.
there is some... not homophobia, not transphobia, but just general queerphobia I guess? directed towards the love interest, as he was an effeminate child who was skilled in a type of dancing in which cross-dressing is a feature rather than a gender-based prerequisite. there are some flashbacks of random neighborhood boys bullying him for being effeminate and being given preferential treatment for his dancing skills, including a panel in which the protagonist slaps away his hand asking him to help. (which doesn’t feel swept under the rug when they get together.) there is also a single panel that to me gives a strong implication of csa, but it’s not at all discussed or even directly mentioned it’s just him dancing for a visibly adult man as a child and being called cute and thinking about how only the protagonist can call him cute.
the art is very pretty, and the story feels mostly quite emotionally cohesive. there is a happy ending. (in more ways than one :v )
I enjoyed it, it was very sweet with just a little bitterness.
