#hondo would be so proud of Hera
Text
Chapter Thirty-Two
The taller Lasat glares at the Imperials, growling, “Where are you taking us?”
The officer supervising the Troopers answers, “To a detention facility for a nice, long stay.”
The Lasat scoffs, “More likely a blaster squad.”
Popping up behind two Stormtroopers, Zeb attacks, knocking them both out in one swift move. Kanan, Hera, and Sabine leap out from behind some crates, shooting three more Stormtroopers. Keen leaps off the top of a crate, knocking the sixth one to the ground, punching him, with the Force making it a harder punch than should be possible from a person her size. The Imperial Officer gulps, as three blasters are levelled at his chest. He slowly begins to back away from the rebels, unaware of the Padawan behind him, who immediately shoots him with his lightsaber.
From behind the boy, a very familiar Weequay appears, waving slightly, “Hello, hello! You arrived just in time, as I knew you would.”
Keen’s thumb and forefinger move to the bridge of her nose, sighing deeply upon seeing Hondo Ohnaka.
“You could have warned me the Empire was here,” Ezra comments.
“Ah, but I sold the Lasats to the Empire knowing the heroes would save the day,” he waves his index finger in the air as he speaks, pausing to chuckle, “You being the heroes, of course.”
Ari’abel rubs a hand over mouth, commenting, “Hondo is your contact?”
“To be fair, he contacted me.”
“Yes, Quinara, to be fair. Because I knew these two,” he points to the two Lasats,  “belonged with that one,” he finishes by pointing straight at Zeb.
The taller Lasat, his eyes landing on Zeb smiles, “It is him. Captain Orrelios.”
The older, female Lasat gasps, “By the Ashla. The Prophecy!”
Ignoring the female Lasat, Ezra turns to Zeb, and asks, “Captain?”
“Yes,” the older Lasat replies, “Captain Garazeb Orrelios of the Lasan High Honour Guard.”
The Ghost crew’s Lasat groans deeply, placing his head into his hands. The Jedi Master smiles at him, and Hondo taps her on the shoulder. He smiles at the Lasat’s, commenting, “A reunion! I was right again. How wonderful.” He then nods down at the unconscious Imperial at his feet, “Hondo could use a little help.”
Keen rolls her eyes at the Weequay, grabbing the Imps shoulders, while Hondo picks up his legs, dragging him into the crate that the Lasat’s had just left. “What are you doing, Hondo? You’ve never been this nice to anyone, not even Obi-Wan.”
“Ah, well. The Empire has been bad for business. Yes, very, very bad.”
“So you’re helping the Rebellion, so that you can help yourself.”
“Exactly,” he proclaims, flailing his arms out. “And here my crew always talked about how idiotic you Jedi were.”
“Oh, thanks. I’ll try not to be insulted.”
“Now, now, Quinara,” the Weequay comment, wrapping an arm around her shoulders, “Hondo himself would never say such a thing about you, no, no, but, Hondo has no control over his crews.”
The Jedi smiles at him, shrugging his arm off her shoulders. “Yeah, whatever you say, Hondo. I’m shocked to say it, but I am glad you survived the Clone Wars.” She steps out of the crate, joining back up with the rest of the crew. Sidling up beside Kanan, she quietly inquires of what all she missed.
“Zeb was a Captain of the Honour Guard of Lasan. Gron, the taller one, served under him. The other one is Chava the Wise.”
“Got it, thanks.”
“I didn’t know you were a Captain,” Ezra comments.
“He never told any of us,” Hera tells the boy.
“It was so long ago I...I forgot.”
“We have not,” Chava informs Zeb.
“That’s all well and good,” Keen comments, “but the Imps are gonna realize pretty soon that something is off. We should really be getting you lot out of here.”
“Yeah,” Ezra says, “We gotta go.”
“Oh. Wait, wait…,” Hondo calls after them. “Does this mean I am not getting my finder’s fee?”
“You never were,” the Padawan informs him.
“Perfect answer. I am so proud of you right now. I never had a student learn this quickly.”
The group leave the Weequay alone with the cargo crate, filled with unconscious Imperials. After they round a few corners, and walk a little way down the corridor, Ezra turns to their passengers, “So, tell us where you’re headed.”
“Our new world, Lira San,” Chava says, waving her arms around her head, “Prophesized in the ancient Lasat writings. It is a safe system where our people can begin anew.”
Zeb groans, leaning his head back, looking at the ceiling, “Look. The only safe system for us was Lasan and it was destroyed.”
Keen cocks her head, musing on what the Lasat’s said.
“It was transformed as part of the future destiny of our people,” Gorn argues.
“There’s no future destiny. Everything is gone.”
“Everything can’t be gone, Zeb,” Keen states, pain clear in her voice. “You aren’t gone, and neither are Gorn and Chava. As long as you three exist. As long as one Lasat exists, your culture, your people will carry on. Lasan lives within your heart.”
Chava looks up at the Jedi, “It almost seems as if you speak from experience. As she said, Captain. Lasan is within us. Everything is happening as it was meant to.”
The transmitter Chopper is carrying crackles to life, Hondo’s voice sounding through, “Ezra, my boy. It's your pal, Hondo.”
The astromech grumbles, shoving the transmitter into Ezra’s hands. “What is it, Hondo?”
“Just so you know, there are, uh…” the Weequay pauses, sniffing, before continuing, “...Stormtroopers on their way.”
“How close are they?”
Hondo doesn’t get the chance to respond, as blaster fire flies at their heads. “Pretty close.”
The team race around the corner, only to be met by more Troopers. “They’ve got backup!” Kanan yells back to the other, whilst he, Sabine, and Hera shoot at the Imps.
“So do we,” Sabine replies, tossing two blasters at Gorn, only to have them smack against his face.
Keen glances at him confusedly, from her place behind him. “Oh, no. We do not fight. It is no longer our way,” he explains. The Jedi Master shrugs, jumping over him, running along the wall, before dropping into a crouch right near Kanan’s feet, whipping a modified blaster out of her bag. She begins to shoot at the Troopers, hitting two of the ones in front of them. Behind her, she can hear Zeb lecturing Gorn on the ways of the Lasat.
From the corridor the rebels just left, a group of Troopers appear, instantly firing at them. “This just keeps getting better,” Hera snarks.
“We’ll never get through now,” the Jedi Knight grumbles.
Keen turns around, shooting at the Troopers who approached from behind  them, tossing over her shoulder, “No way we can go back the way we came.”
It’s then that her eyes spot Hondo at the door controls just behind the Troopers, and she smiles at him, offering a two fingered salute.
“What happened?” Ezra asks the team, although the transmitter is still in his hands.
“Another rescue by Hondo Ohnaka!”
“Thanks, Hondo! We owe you one.”
“No. We don’t,” Kanan enthuses, as he finishes clearing the path of Troopers. He then leads the way back to the Ghost.
When they arrive in the docking bay, a whole platoon of Stormtroopers greets them. Ezra and Kanan automatically whip out their lightsabers, keeping the blaster fire off the others. Keen follows suit, leaping on top of a nearby crate, drawing fire to herself. She deflects the blaster bolts, as the team moves closer to the ship.
It's a quick trip to the Ghost, made all the easier by the lightsabers, and the Troopers inability to hit any target.

Writer's Ask Game:
7, 5, 6, 3, 4, 22, 24, 36, 10
Thanks @bucketking for the asks! So many! I'll do my best, but I did skip the duplicates though, sorry!
3. What are some tropes or details that you think are very characteristic of your fics?
Sappy with a side of angsty whump. 😆 I really like gross medical details and bodily functions. Probably not in all of my fics, but still fun to write.
5. What do you wish someone would ask you about [a secret kept]? Answer it now!
Question: Does Hondo actually care? My answer: yes, in his own way. He is always out for himself, but if lifting someone else up benefits him then win-win. He may also deep down actually care about Obi-wan, but just a tiny bit!
6. What’s one fact about the universe of [reset the dominoes] that you didn’t get a chance to mention in the fic itself?
There wasn't really one thing that I didn't get to mention. Lots of little world building things that didn't have a chance to add because it didn’t flow. Clone culture mostly. I can't wait to both figure out what's up with Nan and Gramm and share it though!
7. Any worldbuilding you’re particularly proud of?
Hmmm, good question! I have absolutely no idea! XD Maybe more of Nan and Gramm's little 'organization' ? Most of it is vague in where they ask Echo and Fives questions, but I want to connect it more in later fics with different characters.
Come up with HCs for clone Trooper culture is fun too!
22. Who is your favorite character in [any fic] and why?
Prooooobably Hera! She's been in two fics so far and is adorable. It was a fun challenge to write a kiddo.
24. Are there any easter eggs in [saybyou feel the same way too], and if so, what are they?
Colt/Blackout, lol? Not really an easter egg, but a fun surprise and my new favorite rare-pair.
36. Do you visualize what you read/write?
Sort of? I see the main idea of what is happening, but outside of that is very vague. Kinda like a vignette almost?

AU where Ahsoka was Kanan’s padawan and Ezra was Anakin’s.
Ezra:
- [ ] Ezra’s parents are killed by Speratists when he is 7.
- [ ] He ends up living on the streets of Lothal for a few years.
- [ ] Plo Koon finds him a few years later while on a mission when he’s maybe 12.
- [ ] He then lives at the Jedi temple and although he is quick to make friends he can’t really connect with the other kids there since he knew his parents and has been surviving by himself for years.
- [ ] The other kids do think he’s cool though for living by himself and for doing these cool slight of hand tricks using the force. Especially a young Caleb Dume.
- [ ] When Ezra is 14 the clone wars start and he is assigned as Anakin Skywalker’s padawan.
- [ ] Anakin can relate to him about joining the Jedi order later than the other children so always feeling out of place as well as loosing their parents.
- [ ] Ezra wants revenge against the Separatists for killing his parents and Anakin knowns he should discourage this but as the same time he knows this would make him a hypocrite so ends up encouraging this.
- [ ] Ezra still makes his lightsaber that also has a blaster and Anakin is impressed by his creativity and engineering skills (as well as being really proud that Obi-Wan is annoyed that it’s not a traditional lightsaber. Annoying Obi-Wan is a right of passage in both realities)
- [ ] Ezra is still very connected with animals and keeps upstaging Obi-Wan when he connects with random creatures but connecting with a whole group of them.
- [ ] Like Anakin, Ezra also has issues with attachment. Party due to them both growing up with a family which they miss when they join the Jedi order. But also because of their shared interest in attractive people, like the cute son of the senator and a miriliaran padawan who was so badass that she’d tattooed her face!
- [ ] His pickpocketing skills and sneaking into ventilation shafts proves to be very useful in battles against the separatists.
- [ ] The 501st see him as a little brother and Ezra gets along better with them than the other padawan as they understand what it’s like to have and loose family.
- [ ] Ezra’s dissolution with the Jedi council starts a lot earlier than Ahsoka’s.
- [ ] It begins when the council in prison baby Boba Fett, because Ezra sees himself in that kid as he wanted to avenge his parents deaths too, but also because he’s a kid who’s just lost his parents who doesn’t have anyone else in the world.
- [ ] Side note, he also gets along really well with Hondo in this au thanks to his pickpocketing skills and charm and the Weequay always asks him to join his pirate crew whenever they meet which Anakin is totally not jealous about at all.
- [ ] His dissolution is further amplified when Obi-Wan fakes his death. He gets really angry at his grandmaster for making him and Anakin go through loosing a family member again and at the council for going along with it.
- [ ] When he’s framed for murder he is more shocked over Barriss’ betrayal then the council’s arrogance and stupidity.
- [ ] Anakin feels more alone because he lost the only person in the order who could relate to him.
- [ ] After Ezra leaves the order he actually does join Hindi’s crew for a while before returning to help the Republic for the Seige of Mandelore.
Ahsoka:
- [ ] Like canon Ahsoka is kidnapped from her home planet of Shili by a slaver when she is very young.
- [ ] On a mission Kanan and Hera come across the slaver and rescue her. They had only been working together for about a year and Ahsoka was only four. They take her back to Shili but can’t find her parents and since she’s Force sensitive they decide that she can stay with them on the Ghost.
- [ ] She stays in what would have been Sabine’s room.
- [ ] Ahsoka is raised as a fighter in the rebellion and in the beliefs of the Jedi by Kanan.
- [ ] Because if this she beacons very talented with her lightsaber but prefers form III like Depa and Kanan did instead of her use two lightsabers.
- [ ] She is confused when Kanan tells her that Jedi shouldn’t form attachments when she sees Hera and Kanan as her parents and the loving looks they share between them.
- [ ] She is less confused when she is 14 and meets a fierce Mandalorian with a love for art and explosions.
- [ ] Ahsoka gets along with Zeb a lot quicker than Ezra did because she didn’t steal from them when they first met. He sees her as the little sister he never had.
- [ ] The the person Chopper likes the most after Hera since she treats him with respect and fixes him regularly.
- [ ] Sabine is the last person the join the Ghost family in this au and it is Ahsoka who coaxes her out of her shell, especially since they start sharing a room. Over time Ahsoka’s crush on her fades and she stars to see the other girl as an older sister.
- [ ] When Ahsoka meets Hondo he helps her because she reminds him of a padawan he used to know.
- [ ] Ahsoka rises through the ranks of the Rebellion quicker then Ezra did as she has been involved with it longer and is a more natural leader. She becomes the youngest Commander in the alliance and Hera and Kanan couldn’t be more proud.
- [ ] Ahsoka experiences a lot more harassment from the Empire than Ezra due to her being a nonhuman and isn’t used as often for undercover missions.
- [ ] She’s really excited to meet Ezra when she finds out that there’s another force user out there. But behind his charming appearance she can tell that he’s lived through a lot of stuff and that’s he’s too grey to call himself a Jedi.
- [ ] Ezra becomes the Ghost crew’s cool uncle and he is happy to have finally found a family again.
- [ ] He teaches Ahsoka that the Jedi ways can be wrong and that she should do what she believes is right which confused her since he contradicts what Kanan has taught her
- [ ] However, she still loves training with him and wishes that she could have known the offer before it fell.
- [ ] On Malachor, Ahsoka isn’t as easily manipulated by Maul as Ezra was but she stills helps him since Master Yoda told her to come here.
- [ ] When they get the holocron, Ezra wants to use it since he’s willing to do anything to protect his family again and Ahsoka thinks that this must have been what Yoda wanted.
- [ ] The temple gets activated, Kanan gets blinded and Vader shows up.
- [ ] Ezra can’t believe that the man he loved like an elder brother could become this monster, bust he also feels partly responsible for abandoning him.
- [ ] After the ordeal Ahsoka now has a mistrust in the Jedi teaching as she thought she followed Yoda’s wants which lead to Ezra’s “death” and Kanan’s blindness.
- [ ] She starts to use the Sith holocron as Kanan hasn’t been around to guide her and becomes noticeably darker.
- [ ] It takes longer for her to reconcile with Kanan as she isn’t just upset with him but with Yoda and the whole ideals of the Jedi, especially since Kanan isn’t adhering to the lessons he teaches her.
- [ ] She eventually stops using the sith holocron because she realises it is corrupting her, but doesn’t return to follow the Jedi laws. Instead she follows her own code and Kanan couldn’t be prouder.
- [ ] When they learn that there is a TIE-defender factory being built on Lothal she is insistent on destroying it since although she couldn’t save Ezra, she could still save his home world.
- [ ] She’s distraught when Kanan dies. He was the only father figure she ever had in her life and she now understood Ezra’s greyness due to the loss of his family.
- [ ] When she saves Ezra in the World between Worlds they are both very confused but happy to be alive.
- [ ] Palpatine tried to coax her to open the portal with an image of the parents she never knew to give her the family she never had. But it doesn’t work since she already had a family.
- [ ] Instead of using the Purrgil she destroyed the Chimera’s navicomputer with her lightsaber causing the hyperdrive to malfunction and send her, along with Thrawn to an an location.
