My shift to Bnha

I’ll start with the basics. For starters my reality is a bit different. The legal age is 25, so therefore school duration is longer, and our ages are different. I start UA when I was 19 years old, which made me a year 1 student. my parents are both prominent figures in hero society, and I was an only child to them. I only add this because I think it’s important to acknowledge background information because it shapes your experience and your placement in society, especially in a world filled with heroes everything is ranked and merit based.

Contrary to popular belief, at least in my reality school is very much emphasized and just as important as hero work. For me a typical day looked like, getting up at 7:45 to prepare for classes that started at 8:30 and ending at 5. We do have a one hour lunch break, and a specific period to work on our specific quirks alone any way we see fit. A lot of people do use that time to slack off and hang out with friends, but they’ve recently become very strict about it. Credits to to Tenya Ida for informing the board of what people were really doing ! A lot of people were mad but honestly I am a teachers pet in this reality so I kind of appreciated it.

I can’t speak for the other classes, maybe it’s because of everything we went to, but we are not a class we are genuinely family. I am closest to Izuku, Sui, Ochacho, Mina, Todoroki and MoMo! Not in any particular order. I’m not going to talk about everyone but here are some of the reasons I love them <3

•Mina is just as extroverted quirky and bubbly as you would expect. Shes one of those people you meet and you can’t help but adore because they energy is so welcoming and they’re so loving. She’s kind of a prankster and a rumor starter and I find it hilarious. You can’t keep anything from her, though but once she has a narrative she has narrowed upon, you have a better chance of changing the devils mind.

For example i talked about this in a different post, but she started a rumour that bakugo is in love with izuku and that’s why he’s mad all the time. It got back to bakugo and he threatened to turn the cafeteria into a live bake oven. It’s honestly hilarious how she can make a whole room laugh. Or make anyone mad.. I guess it’s a talent regardless.

•Sui is the sweetest girl ever. She kind of keeps to herself but she’s honest and what you see is what you get. She’s also kind of emotional and I am kind of a cry baby too there so we get each other. We really just want to do our best and see everyone succeed. I would say both of us made friendships are bigger priority than hero training and we have both been called out for it too.

•Ochacho is very similar to Mina but she can also get down to business when she needs to. Everyone loves her, and her powers are super helpful in any situation, like for sneaking out quietly… but I wouldn’t know anything about that. I vividly remember having a conversation about our hero progress and she’s deeply insecure. She grew up impoverished and Monterey compensation is one of the reasons that really encouraged her to be a hero. I remember one time she was telling me how impressive I was during the first few weeks of school because I had a better handle on my quirk than her. She said something of how I was meant to be a hero. It made me sad because I admired her will and determination more than anyone. I had so many factors that put me ahead in some of my peers. My mother is a pro hero and I went to a profound middle school that molded me to be ready. I told her she was born to be a hero and I was made to be a hero. I was being honest and I didn’t think it meant anything but she always reminds me of how she thinks about that anytime she’s in a situation where she needs help. Nothing made me happier

•Momo and my quirks are very similar. My quirk is called clairvoyance somnium, and my hero name is dreamer. Kind of what she can do but I visualize whatever I need. I can also do more things that I won’t get into but a lot of it, I was inspired by my shifting methods ! Anyways she’s the sweetest and we live pretty close to each other so I’ve seen her around for a while. She’s honestly very gorgeous and we both struggle with insecurities and anxiety, so she really is someone I relate and rely on. Maybe it’s because our quirks or so similar or we have similar backgrounds and personalities but… she’s probably the person I am closest with! But I really do love everyone equally

Bakugo .⋅ ۵♡۵ ⋅.

Ok lots of people ask about him so let’s go.

Yes he’s so loud and always angry. You know I thought i would be scared of him but I honestly even I even give him snarky remarks sometimes (in a nice way because I am so nice in this dr) but wow he is the loudest person I’ve ever met in any dr but his powers are amazing we all respect it

Contrary to popular belief..no one is scared of him. As angry, loud and aggressive as he is he has proven time and time again all he wants to do is be a hero. Honestly it surprised some of us but everyone knows he has kind of good intentions under his wrath ??

He also makes everything a competition and he’s actually good at eveything. He’s good at school I’m pretty sure he placed after me in mid terms ! I got third and he got fourth. He’s a great cook and baker. We had a baking competition and he placed after sato. We made ramen and he made the best ramen ! Like he’s not as dumb as he looks. He’s also in a one sided competition with Todoroki but as we have all noticed he doesn’t give a fuck.

Powers .⋅ ۵♡۵ ⋅.

This may be egotistical but I could not imagine not being a hero in a world with 80% hero. Don’t let the league of villains hear this it will fuel their fire. 🥲 in all seriousness we are lectured that we are not better than anyone, and we are simply stronger than other people and that is it so we shouldn’t let it conflate our egos. The only way we would be given the green flag to pat our own backs is when are abilities begin to save millions of lives. But then I guess if we’re only being heroes to look good then would that really make us heroes. At least that’s what I wrote about in my English essay. Present mic did in fact eat it up, I got an amazing grade on it. But that’s not the point. The point is it’s easy to get a big head but we were simply genetically lucky, not better, smarter, etc.

Now that philosophy is behind us, having powers is so cool and coming back here the limits of other realities having no bounds never fails to amaze me. Our quirks are an extension of ourselves and literally are us. It’s not second nature, it’s first nature after having these abilities for so long. Especially my quirk, if I wanted I could “dream” 500 million yen, and well I wouldn’t be able to put it in the bank but I digress. Finding out what your quirk can do and how far your cbs push your limits always allows us to be going through moments of self discovery. Having a quirk is honestly it’s own life alone, and I genuinely could not be happier.

My favorite classes .⋅ ۵♡۵ ⋅.

As a student in this incredible universe, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to pursue many amazing topics of study.

One class I took was Hero Studies, where we learned about the many different hero theories and methods of justice, as well as what it takes to become an effective hero. We also discussed the history of the hero world and its evolution throughout the years. It was a fascinating subject and definitely one of my favorites!

The next class I took was Quirk Studies. Here we learned all about quirks, their effects on people and how they can be used to help protect civilians and stop villains. We even discussed how to best work with a partner with a different quirk, and how to combine two quirks to create a unique and powerful attack.

Finally, I also took a class called Combat Training. This class taught us all about combat techniques and how to use the environment and our natural abilities in order to survive any situation. We learned how to effectively dodge and block attacks, as well as how to use our quirks to create powerful attacks.

We of course also had the general classes of math, English, science, math, and music

The classes at UA High were some of the most interesting classes I have ever taken and I am so grateful for having the opportunity to explore them. Not only did I learn a lot about the world of My Hero Academia, but I also grew as a person and as a hero.

Random funny story .⋅ ۵♡۵ ⋅.

I’m going to tell you one of the funniest most embarrassing things that happened during the UA sports festive. This happened during the third event, when we were in teaams.

I was with Izuku, mei, Ochako, and fumikage. Everyone is trying to steal the headband from us because Izuku has all the points ! Everyone was targeting us and it was so unfair. during the last few seconds I started running to dream us a tower so we can hide and to grow into to the skies. Then someone came so they threw me the headband and i I was waiting for them but then they got attacked and they told me just go without them !?? I was literally shaking and my anxiety was at an all time high time so I quirked my tower or whatever and made it grow and then the time ran out! I had the headband and we thought we won and we were cheering but umm no. I was the only winner technically because I wasn’t with my team. BUT because that took away FROM the point of the team work part I was deducted points from my own Individual points because that wasn’t the point of the challenge. Honestly you win some you lose some. It was a fun experience regardless.

Also honestly i shifted here around the time of the World Cup, which I could not care less about, but I get the hype of sports witnessing Izuku’s fight against Shinso (manipulation guy.) it was so awesome !!! I was at the edge of my seat the entire time!!! So I guess Now I understand how some people feel about sports lol. By the end of the festival, I got third place overall and my mom was so proud of me. It was the honestly a great feeling.

Random dump with no correlation

my mother (Uwabami’s) Quirk gives her a trio of live snakes growing from her head. One of the snakes have acute senses, allowing her to locate hidden criminals and disaster victims.one snakes also has a scent that can make her victims mindless slaves, one snake produces poison and attacks her victims.

my father who also attended UA with my mom has Squirmy Fingers (can precisely bend and control his fingers, giving him great dexterity) As well as a High Scientific knowledge Skills IQ in engineering. I found this interesting because usually children are a combination of their parents quirks or either or, and mine has nothing to do with either lol.

Todoroki’s pretty smart though he places after Bakugou in the mid terms. he also loves to read ! He’s also politically educated and actually had profound knowledge on the history of heroes and how and why he believe hero’s and villains came to be so.. surprisingly he is more philosophical than I would think. He doesn’t really talk about it or bring it up because if you have a good conversation with him and get him to open up it is always worth.

Food

Tbh to no surprise the food options were eclectic and varied. There was something for everyone! I had everything from traditional Japanese dishes such as ramen and sushi, to western and American-style dishes like pizza and burgers. I even had access to a variety of international cuisines like Indian, Chinese, and Korean.

One of my favorite places to get a good meal was the school cafeteria. Every day it was full of delicious options, from freshly-cooked dishes to the convenience of pre-packaged items. There were also lots of drinks and snacks available. On certain days, the cafeteria also served special meals such as curry or tonkatsu.

If I was looking for something a bit more fast-paced, there were several food stalls and restaurants around town. I could find an assortment of things like ramen, takoyaki, and okonomiyaki. There were also locations that offered more unique dishes such as Japanese-style hamburgers or omurice (Omelette Rice).

Although I often ate at restaurants, I also cooked meals in my dorm room. I could make simple dishes with ingredients from the local grocery store, like fried rice, or make something more complicated with ingredients from the nearby specialty grocery store. I even tried my hand (well with sato as well) at making dango, the traditional Japanese dessert.

Tbh No matter what type of food I was looking for, UA had it though. With all of the different options available, there was something to satisfy whatever cravings I had.

I also write and speak in English so don’t ask any language questions because I do not know

What BNHA Got Wrong: Love Interests + Character Bonding

So the poll has spoken and this was the most picked of the options. Also don't worry I WILL be covering those in the future so don't be discouraged if the one you picked didn't win, I'm not Minecraft!

But anyways, Love Interests!

A completely optional thing to have in your story to either give the main character a form of happiness or to show what a healthy relationship looks like to not only the MC, but to other people as well.

But there're also the toxic relationships that act as a cautionary tale as to what can happen if you're not careful in choosing who to date, but it's not the victim's fault for not knowing better as the abuser can be clever in hiding their true colors. So in a way, there're many ways to write relationships in your story.

But the way BNHA handles love interests and relationships... leaves a bad taste so horrible in your mouth that it makes eating garbage sound like the better option.

Let's start with the obvious: Izuocha.

It's bland as plain bread, that much is obvious. But it also tends to suffer from lack of screentime and not having Izuku and Uraraka share enough genuine moments to sell me on the potential of them being lovers.

And it also doesn't help when there are scenes of Uraraka calling him plain, expressing her disbelief when Izuku was about to fight quirkless, and even not retorting her female classmates when they talked about Izuku being a bad boyfriend because of his obsession with All Might.

To me at least, in order to sell me on the idea of two characters being a couple, I need genuine scenes of them together, see how they interact with one another and to see if they have that spark. Hopefully some of you know what I'm talking about when I say spark, as in they have that thing where them being a couple makes perfect sense.

But when it comes to Izuocha, I don't feel that spark. Best friends maybe, but not lovers.

I can name a few others that have better chemistry with Izuku that would've been cute and good to see

Shoto (The Sports Festival and how they interact feels more natural)

Aoyama (Their friendship is cute and honestly Aoyama should've been the one to discover the OFA secret and suggest ways on improving, and Izuku would do the same for him.)

Hagakure (If they interacted more, their relationship would've been interesting to see and see how they help each other with their insecurities)

Rody (The movie... It's obvious)

Okay okay, let's move away from shipping and romantic relationships and get to friendships and familiar love.

Or... lack there of.

Everybody in 1-A acts like great friends and a found family but we hardly get any scenes of them hanging out outside of the outros. If we have to rely on outros/intros to get a feel of the characters bonding, then there really isn't much of a friendship to show off.

And if the fight between them and Izuku during the Dark Izuku is anything to go by, that just throws this found family shit out the window and it literally makes my blood boil as someone who wrote a found family story.

If we're supposed to believe that everything they went through has brought them closer, how come we never see any of them bonding and doing normal teenagers stuff?

Oh yeah, it's because Hori doesn't bother with any of that and just wants to get to the exciting fight scenes. Just throw in some misplaced flashbacks and have characters say shit to trick people into believing they DO have this nonexistent bond!

But overall, it's just really hard to get into the dynamics of these characters if we never see the characters bond or share genuine moments, without moments like this... the big moments are just going to feel hollow and the relationships artificial.

BNHA Dragon Pageant Au

Just wanted to draw dragons, also im trying to spread the dragons are puppies agenda. Also i imagined this au to be rather fluffy :D

So in this world people and dragons coexsist peacefully. That being said people tend to favor dragons that are more colorful and bright that can fly long distances while more muted/duller color dragons with disabilities are seen as very unattractive. Katsuki being raised by Mitsuki has a good eye for dragons and collects the most colorful beautiful ones and often puts them in dragon beauty pageants lmao Katsuki's childhood friend, izuku, generally just loves dragons and hopes to become a dragon veterinarian! So imagine his surprise one day when his best friend kacchan comes barreling in carrying 4 eggs he found when he fell into the river lmao and says he needs "useless deku to not be useless and help him hatch these dragons" cause he claims they will "be the most beautiful fucking dragons youve ever fucking seen and my old hag will finally start taking me seriously after she sees me win the pageant with these suckers" And so they hatch the dragons together and while Izuku learns more about the pageant scene due to Katsuki, he realizes how sad the dragon bias and discrimination is. So when he finds brown, dull color dragon Uraraka with her cute lil face, Izuku makes it his goal to also win the pageant with his "unattractive" dragons to prove a point. But of course Katsuki thinks Deku's new goal is a direct challenge to him and his precious dragons and that deku looks down on Katsuki's dragons as if he thinks his dull dragon can win which causes a tear in their friendship and their rivalry begins. Throughout the story, Izuku saves Tenya when he is being poached by dragon slayer Stain and also befriends the beautiful, but dangerous Shoto after he finds him running away from his abuser who bred him through illegal breeding markets.

I like to think the AU ends with Katsuki and Izuku showing off thier dragons at the pageant but then Izuku realizes that pageants are dumb and he doesnt want anyone to judge his poor dragons for things they cant control, not to mention he hates that his friendship with Kacchan was ruined over something so stupid, and so he forfeits the pageant. Izuku honestly just really wants his best friend back. Which means Katsuki ends up winning.... but of course KACCHAN IS STILL UNHAPPY with his victory. Much like in the beginning, Katsuki barrels into izuku's room, this time the eggs are now lil adorable dragons, and he yells at Deku for "giving him that pity victory and not giving the middle finger to all of those discriminatory dragon assholes" Izuku explains everything and they talk it out before eventually becoming friends again (in the bg their dragons are shaking their heads at how stupid their owners are and how they had to sit front seats to the shitshow that is their friendship lmao)

In the end, they say fuck the pageant and izuku runs his vet dragon clinic and katsuki runs an dragon adoption center/dragon egg daycare. He makes sure to beat up anyone who doesnt meet his standards for adoption and gives any injured abused dragon he finds to izuku to take care of. The End (*^▽^*)

Izuku: ...no? (literally has Shoto sitting on his hair hissing at Endeavor)

Endeavor is so utterly humiliated and in order to save himself from this migraine inducing boy, he simply lets him go. Shoto is pleased by this victory.

So apologies if I missed a post regarding this, but what your thoughts on the canon LOV regarding “found family?” Especially in the newer chapters, I’ve seen meta writers different pov’s of how they are a found family, or that they were never one (I think you may know some of them lol.) I know you do many head canons of them being one which I absolutely love reading. The way I see it is in a sense they could be one, but obviously not a healthy one in a way you would see one normally act. With today’s chapter on Toga’s “love” for the LOV, I’ve seen opinions of how that solidified their disconnect, but they also say they cared for each other in the first place. Which I agree, but in a way I find they do have some form of “care” for each other, but since they are all so mentally unstable right now, they can’t really help each other out since they need someone to help themselves first, hence the kids they are paralleled to (if that makes sense?) But I feel it doesn’t take away the fact that they are friends in a way. I would love to see the LOV at the end of the manga be together again, but build a healthy friendship together and truly start to understand each other, because it is Toga’s turmoil right now in this new chapter even though she does care for them. I guess looking back at what I wrote it isn’t a “found family” perspective I’m viewing, but just friends that are to broken to see each other until they are healed. But anyway, what are your thoughts on the topic and new chapter?

I'm currently not in the best condition to be riding this meta, since my right hand is broken and the cast doesn't allow me to properly cry like I wish I could. I'll try to do my best with the voice to text function of my phone board, so please forgive me for whatever crazy mistakes or misspells I'm about to make.

First of all, I think the complications come from what every person believes is the definition of a "found family".

For me the trope doesn't have to be pure or be innocent, you know? A found family is not the "healthiest" version of a family. What it means for me, it's a group of people you decide to stick with because you feel you belong with them. You feel better with them, you decide to take their side for wherever reason instead of your biological family or whatever. In turn, those people's welcome you in. They give you a place among them, they treat you like you're one of them and they value you.

I don't know when along the line people decide found families were only for heroes and "stable" people characteres? And honestly doesn't make sense. Found families started with the weirdos, the outcasts, the ones who didn't belong or felt like rejected by society. It was for the ones who were deemed dangerous, even. For me it is more a villain/anti-heroes trope on its roots.

Important addition: having a found family doesn't erase the importance of the biological family. It's not a game of one or the other, okay?

So, what that being said, let me deep dive in the complex dynamic of the League of Villains and why they are my favorite bnha group <3

There are different levels of affection.

That's a fact.

Among the big kinds, there's romantic affection, platonic affection for your close friends, familial affection, etc. There are the little specifics, like the affection you may have for your pets or for your belongings, or for your favorite movies or foods, that affection you may have for your teachers or for your neighbors... I think you get me.

Toga's struggle comes from not knowing the difference between the affections she feels. She doesn understand the variations in her dinamics with different numbers of the League of Villains and even with different heroes. Of course you can argue that she grew up with her biological family and with her classmate and friends— so she must know, right? I will say no, because her love is (in her mind) tied with her quick. We know she pretty much repressed her quick for all her childhood and for half of her teenage years, until she ran away.

She knows when she's not feeling affection but does she understand that not all her love is the same?

This chapter tell us that she wants to feel as strongly with Tomura and Dabi as she fell with Twice. She was hoping for it, she was upset when she couldn't use the quirks, she's crying because of that. There's definitely affection there. Even when the member's of the LoV weren't mentally stable or good relationships of any type, there's manga evidence that they care for each other. The went out of their way to do stuff for each other that wasn't really justified even if they tried to lie about their intentions.

I've said before that Spinner is the best example, but he's far from being the only one.

The manga paralleled Overhaul and Tomura in the way they treated their subordinates. Overhaul did not care, they were sacrifices to be made for him to achieve his goal. Tomura took it personal, as the League did. Compress and Tomura reacted immediately after Magne died, not just in their defense, something Tomura confirmed when he told Overhaul Magne lost wasn't the equivalent of one of Overhaul's dead men, she was worth so much more. Toga threatened Tomura when she thought he'd treat them like Overhaul treated his people. Jin and Toga want to take revenge on Magne's behalf and corrected Overhaul when he misgendered Magne on purpose or because he really didn't care. Tomura and Compress cut both his arms for it. Every member of the LoV helped ruin Overhaul.

That's just one arc —not even the arc that solely focus on their dynamic, I must mention.

I want you to think about how many mangas create a whole arc to explore the dynamic of the group of villains. An arc just for them, because the heroes has nothing to do with the arc!

My Villain Academia aims to get the readers and watchers to be more invested, more emotionally involved in the dynamic of this group of villains. Direct parallel to class 1A and Deku, to the plus ultra value, to the origin story explanation of the MCs. Twice overcame his greatest trauma to save Toga. Toga was fighting following Tomurq's values and that's the arc that made a Spinner is so close emotionally tomorrow. That arc was strategically made to give greater impact to all that'd later happen in the War Arc: Twice's death, Toga's despair, Mr. Compress sacrifice, Dabi's big reveal, Spinner desperation to save Tomura and Tomura losing control of his own body.

I can continue listing every single evidence that Horikoshi wrote the League of Villains to be a very fucked up found family, but I prefer to invite everyone reading this to re-read the manga and try to see for themselves.

So there's affection between the members of the League? There is, canonically. It's not a take, the manga says it itself. Is it enough to make of them a found family? Following my definition, it is.

Most members were rejected/isolated by society. They decided to join the League, they decided to stay with them, they sacrificed themselves to save their teammates... So listen carefully: the League was a pit of Insanity, but the only member who actively purposely tried to harm his partners was Dabi. Threats were a common thing, yes, but only one person went as far as to use the League and let one of them died and state he didn't consider himself as part of the whole .

Dabi is a tricky case, since he felt affection but he wouldn't let it get in the way of his revenge or his very suicidal, self-destoying fantasy-plan where he gets to punish his father and at some extent himself to death. Seriously, with how similar is his case to Sasuke from Naruto, I'm not surprised the fandom found a way to misinterpreted his whole character. That's another post, tho.

Like I say, we know the League wanted to be with each other, respected each other in their own way, were willing to protect and cheer and listen to each other... They had alternatives they could— no, would have taken if they wanted to.

It's NOT healthy, they were all making it worse. They actively made each other worse. A fact.

They ruined each other.

And I want people to finally get that love can destroy. Genuine love has no morals, it is not a person taking decisions, it doesn't subscribe to your belief system or culture, it has no agenda of its own. Affection, as a sublevel of love, is just the same. You'd do anything for the people you love and I'd do anything for the people I love and we could kill each other, start a war, whatever, all because we held our love higher than others' love.

Back to square one: Toga's affection and quirk.

Twice was genuinely gentle. It was easy for him to feel affection, to consider someone a friend. That was his downfall with Hawks, both loyal to the end to a group of friends or a cause.

That's not Toga's case. She's emotional, she's selective, she doesn't know how to connect with others after so many years repressing herself. She's desperate to become someone else in the sense she's desperate to connect.

As much as Dabi and Tomura connected with Toga, they weren't that close, were they? Their traumas couldn't allow it. Like you said, they were incapable of moving forward, getting closer. On the other hand, Toga's relationships with Ochako and Twice felt personal.

Twice got past the only thing holding him back, cementeing his friendship with Toga MVA. They were absolute best friends, no doubt.

During the War Arc, Toga and Ochako held a conversation that changed them both forever, a leap in their character progression. But even in the MVA arc, Toga's absolute desperation and desire to more like Ochako drove her to achieve a new quirk level.

The League is Toga's found family. Look back at the War Arc and how they worried about her. Look at how Tomura has treated her through the manga, at Dabi cheering her up and burning her old house. That's more than anyone ever did for her, as fucked up as it is. They care about her.

However, they've reach their limit.

There's no much they can improve in their current state. There's not getting closer, not evolving in their dynamic. In the villain path, the only thing left to do is die for each other.

Enter the heroes and redemption, in the sense they all need to heal if they want to ever continue their relationship.

Now, I believe Tsuyu's theory is roughly explained. "Not enough love" could be simply "not enough intimacy / not as personal as it could be". As a demiaro-demiace, I personally hate when people express love differences in terms of more/less. I don't believe in best friends, don't believe that romantic involvement means "being more than friends", etc. It's stupid for me.

I'm not looking forward to the discourse this will generate. The LoV dynamic is my favorite 'cause it's messy and complex and has many layers and grey areas. I don't enjoy when people erase those facts so it'd match their opinions.

So I have been reading Mashle: magic and muscle and i really love how they handle the “no magic MC” it’s a gag manga but the action and storytelling is very good

And I can’t help but compare Mashle and BNHA; there are lots of similarities and differences but the why they are written makes Mashle so great.

I remember very little of bnha now because it’s feel really over the place, so Mashle going to be the topic.

Mash, was born and STILL is without magic. He uses brute strength to solve his problems; and it’s works. (Again it’s a gag manga) the slice of life and school life is handled so well beside all the action, the characters don’t feel one dimensional.

They still follow a certain character archetype of course, but honestly??? It’s makes it better?

Their friend group is so funny together, and I got so refreshed by the supposed “perverted” character who character archetype I dislike in every story but like… he drink respect women juice every morning and I adore him so much??? Best boy.

The sole female character in the friend group, loves the main character but she adorable and so funny really and has strong grounding of her character (The author did say he trying to improve how he write female characters)

The crybaby? Knows his weaknesses and doesn’t afraid to use them.

The cold character? A family man that care for his little sister and want to make her better.

Like you can FEEL how close their friendship is! Been shown and not told it’s making so much difference …

A kinda antagonistic character has a better redemption arc than bakugou…

The main villain??? Acts like a villain should?? And doesn’t run from the main fight???

And lastly the story knows who the main character of the story is and isn’t trying to replace him.

It’s constructed on the same principle of normal shounen but it’s deconstructed and reconstructed them at the same time (while some stuff still staying the same I guess)

It has its flaws of course but It’s used the full potential of the idea it build off and yeah.

It’s a short manga (162 chapters) but it’s rebuilt a little bit of my hope in the shounen genre that I lost long ago it’s also has an anime!

The sky rumbled above as Denki happily watched from the balcony of his dorm. The storm would be pretty bad, so classes had been cancelled for the day. It was early in the morning, since classes had been cancelled quite last minute unfortunately. The electric blonde didn't really have anything to do today. Actually, he probably could do homework but we all know he can't sit still long enough to do anything or the sort.

He happily bounced around his dorm room before getting bored and leaving. It was probably about noon when he left his dorm. Upon arriving at the common area, it seemed quite busy. Some people hadn't been in the dorm since they decided to head home to the parents. Denki rather stay there, since his bros were there. He flopped onto the couch, listening to the rain pound down on the building.

" Oh hey Kaminari! " he was greeted soon after by a familiar spiky red head.

" Hi Bro! " he responded happily, which only made Kirishima beam in response. Calling the dude bro just made his day fully.

Before Denki could do much more, he was tugged over a bit to the side by Yaoyorozu. He gave a puzzled expression, remaining tilted just enough so he didn't fall over.

" Have you seen Jiro? " she asked, clearly stressing about the case.

All Denki could do was shake his head. They seemed like such an odd friendship pair. His eyes flickered over to Sero as he fully fell off the other side of the couch. Honestly, he couldn't help but cackle at the scene.

" Could you check on her? You guys seemed really close lately, " Yaoyorozu spoke up again as she pulled on his sweater.

The pulling brought his focus back to her. With a heavy sigh, he nodded. She is right, to be fair. They had started dating but she didn't really want to tell anyone- not yet anyways. It didn't help that they both tended to be busy with their own individual friend groups more than anything else. Slowly, the blonde peeled himself off the couch and made his way to Jiro's dorm room. It only took a few minutes, thankfully. When arriving, he was a good boyfriend and knocked. It wasn't like Denki could open the door anyways since it was locked.

" Jiro, it's Kaminari, " he called out after the few minutes of long silence. He couldn't help but fidget with his hands while listening to the sky angrily rumble again. It shook the building a bit from how deep toned it had been.

Soon enough, the door slid open. The smaller girl wore a band t-shirt that was a bit big on her and some shorts. She looked very tired, which never failed to upset him. Denki frowned, but before he could ask what was wrong he was tugged into the room. He shut the door behind himself and watched her hide under the sheets of her bed as thunder striked once more. The sound was very loud, but didn't really other the electric blonde. The girl under the sheets on the other hand, she was shakin like a leaf under the pile of blankets.

" Jiro? " he asked as he made his way over to the bed. He watched her before gently shaking her shoulder. " Jirrrooo, " he called with a soft huff. After, she peeked her head out from the sheets.

" Scary, " she mumbled in a childush tone.

The pair had discovered their regression only a few days before. It was quite funny to them both, though they quickly began to learn it wasn't easy when both of them were regressors and weren't really good at being caregivers. Even so, they tried their hardest to support each other. Denki felt the familiar anxiety of not knowing what to do boiling in his stomach. He was really not good at this sort of thing. He took a deep breath before opening his arms.

" It's okay, the storm can't get you inside, " he reassured with a smile while Jiro shuffled over to be hugged by him. He was glad to ingulf her in his embrace.

" Loud, " she complained while nuzzling into him.

" Yeah, it is. Maybe we could do something? " he offered before the sky rumbled angrily for the hundredth time that day. Jiro cried and hid into him. She didn't usually regress younger than five, classifying her as a little but today she seemed to be so scared she went younger.

" It's alright, I'm here to protect you, remember? Now let's see, what should we watch, " he asked as he slid into the bed.

Denki wrapped the little up into the blankets like a burrito then got up to spin her around playfully. This seemed to cheer her up, mostly because she smiled and giggled. He sat back down after grabbing her laptop and getting comfortable. The storm was quite loud each time she flinched and hid into him while he looked for something they could watch. Soon enough, he put on a movie that he knew they'd both enjoy. Then he cuddled her close. Each time the storm angrily rumbled and hugged her tighter and pointed out things in the movie. Every time it never failed to distract Jiro and get her to talk away about it.

By the time the storm had cleared Jiro was playing happily around the room. She even dragged Denki into playing dress up with her. While it was fun for her, it made him embarrassed. Even so he kept smiling. Seeing her happy made her happy. The sun began to fall, and she seemed to have settled down to quietly watch the rain out the windows. He gently ruffled her hair before planting a kiss on her head.

" I think it's time for bed my little Rock Star, " he informed her happily. Though, she pouted and shook her head.

" I want to play! " she announced as she got up to try and play again. However, she was scooped up by Denki and placed into bed.

" I don't know, I think you look pretty sleepy to me, " he teased as he watched her yawn. She pouted and crossed her arms.

" No fair! " she claimed, but he only laughed and sat down with a brush.

" Okay okay, how about we watch cartoons and I'll brush your hair? " he offered.

After some, clear, debating she nodded and settled into his lap after. Denki put on a random kids show before brush through her hair gently. This is probably one of the few things he has learned to cox her into falling asleep. As usual, she was asleep by the time the first episode had ended. He waited until it did end, then tucked her into bed. Denki picked up the dorm room the best he could before turning the lights on and laying with her. Of course, he'd be an awful boyfriend if he left her alone like this. Especially since the storm was getting a bit loud again. This didn't seem to bother Jiro though. The little was so in asleep through it all.

The beauty of volume 29 cover

I honestly can’t say enough good things about this cover and the “potential” draft of it that Horikoshi drew. Both of them kind of emit different emotions but he NAILED it with this one he picked... Why? Because this cover is the best version that represents the Kacchan in the Bakugou Katsuki Rising chapter.

When I first got into the Bnha fandom and eventually read ch 285 and found the volume 29 art for it, I shed a few tears because the drawing of Kacchan in this cover art is just so beautiful and heartfelt... I wasn’t used to volume cover art making my heart wrench this much and the feelings this stirred in me were several.

1. A Person in Need is... Still A Person

This is a big one for Kacchan. He has not been able to wrap his mind around being a victim for his whole life. He felt like accepting help from others is putting himself below them. But no... everybody needs help in some way or another at some point. Sometimes we need a helping hand to get through the trials of life and in the JT arc it definitely felt like Kacchan was starting to understand what it means to give help and receive it. It doesn’t make him lesser of a person. I think this image is a full acceptance of the concept that it’s okay to need somebody. And he looks like he wants to take the hand... but at the same time is wondering, this is okay, right? Do I deserve to? (You do bc Izuku already forgave you and loves you so much🧡)

2. The Acceptance of Deku 

How many times has Kacchan slapped away Izuku’s hand when he tries to help him up? He wasn’t only rejecting kindness from others, he was rejecting Deku himself. This is the answer to the concept that Kacchan might have never been saved if it had been Deku reaching out at Kamino. The current him would take Deku’s hand. This cover portrays Kacchan accepting Deku’s hand... and Deku as a person he desires to be by his side... finally.

3. The Heroic Heart

Deku was the person who helped Kacchan find his heroic heart. In a sense, this image is almost a symbolism of him receiving it from Deku. Because that’s all he has been seeing from Deku, during the times Kacchan misunderstood him, when Deku was just doing his best to help Kacchan or other people. Kacchan was witnessing his heroic heart this whole time, but Kacchan only knew it then as a /something/ he was missing and that always made him feel inferior to Deku which is why he was relentless with him. This art and Bakugou Katsuki Rising symbolise Kacchan’s ascension into true heroism because of and for Izuku, respectively.

4. A Wish. 

I see a wish in Kacchan’s eyes and the way it’s his then ‘current self’ and not kid self facing Deku. His wish is to show Deku he wants to grab his hand and not slap it away anymore. To show Deku his personal growth and acceptance of his kind heart... if given the opportunity to. The distance of their hands gives a feeling of so close, yet so far. Because they haven’t quite made it there in the material.

Now let’s talk about this draft one... 

I think the feeling this image was supposed to elicit was regret and an impossible wish to re-do it all over again.

Regret for not having taken his hand. Kind of like, if Kacchan could go back in time, take Deku’s hand in this moment, and erase the way he treated Izuku, he would do so now in a heart beat. This is regret for not understanding and accepting Deku’s kindness and heroism. Regret for rejecting someone he cared quite a lot for due to that lack of understanding. 

Because this was the start point of the breakdown of their friendship, it feels like he wishes he could have always stayed friends with Deku without the huge mess he made of things in between. Wishing he had looked up at him a little embarrassed but accepting. For Kacchan, it’s time he lost from not cherishing someone he knows now is and always was so precious to him. They would have grown up together as best friends the whole time... so I think inside, Kacchan wishes him and Deku were best friends who could communicate easily and he knows if he had taken his hand back then, that would be their reality right now.

But Horikoshi decided to go with the first one because he can’t go back in time and fix his mistakes, all he can do is change for the better going forward. And I agree with his decision, it was a well thought out choice because the imagery of it is so very beautiful. It’s prettiness and thoughtfulness to the story moves me so much. Ever since they reconnected with the apology, they are closer than ever to Kacchan’s wish of being true besties. They are also now equals in being motivated by their pure love for one another. And Izuku is so very touched with how hard Kacchan has been trying for him. How could he not be?

I value mostly trust and friendship. I want to be able to joke around and have my lover be my best friend! But they also need to be calm and collected because I have trouble doing that. Acts of service and being told I do well is certainly my love language. I prefer taller people but everyone is taller than me lol since i’m only 5’2. I also don’t mind a man in glasses.

Generally when i meet people i am shy and nervous. Don’t really know how to break the ice. With friends, I laugh loudly and love to listen rather than talk about my own life. I love reading, drawing, and writing but spend most of my time immersed in video games. My taste in music I believe is trash because I listen to the same damn songs over and over again and most likely never get tired of them. I also take lots of naps because i tire easily and it’s been difficult because of my chronic illness, lupus. Every day is different and honestly the last month or so I haven’t been feeling the greatest…But I am doing better!

Jungkook would just be such a fun boyfriend for you

He’s quirky and lots of fun, going out of his comfort zone to do the most daring things, and he’s definitely inviting you along for it all

As Future King of the Devildom, he uses his power and connection to get the best doctor for you when your lupus gets particularly bad

He’d go as far as to call help from the human world if the doctors in the Devildom can’t help you

Though he’s incredibly busy as President of the RAD student council and Future King of the Devildom, he’s never too busy for you, and goes out of his way to ensure he can always care for you and be there for you when you need it

He walks you back home (whether you live in his castle or with the brothers is up to you) since he knows how dangerous it can be for you to walk alone since not everyone there agreed with your presence in the Devildom (not that anyone would be dumb enough to mess with the future leader’s woman lol)

But yeah :) I think he’s a great match for you!

I think far too many people analyse the content of MHA without considering the context.

That is not to say that there is no meaning beyond that, that it's immune to criticism or that it's simply not for anyone else - it is first and foremost a weekly shonen manga. Yes, I would say it has it unique edge in that it's a "battle shonen" that places a particular focus on sympathising with *all* characters - which are they the way they are? What does it mean to be a villain? Are people a product of their upbringing etc etc - but again, I think this is more than that.

This is a story for young adults+, a story about trying hard, accepting help, friendship, teamwork and becoming the best version of yourself within your means. I think that's important for kids and young adults to see these stories, to know they don't have to fight all of the time and know that they will have support even if they're disadvantaged in life. It's a story that shows changing perspectives and understanding. I think too many adults on the internet see media and automatically view it within their own limited worldview without remembering that they are stepping into something that was not necessarily created for them. This isn't a story that benefits from debating powerscaling (not that many do!) nor complaining about "talk no jutsu" - because it's not for them. You see the same reactions every time vocal westerners get involved in certain types of media. They just need to take a step back and think about why the media is presented in the way it is. Why their opinions differ. Just, they just need to be normal about it!!

Oh my gosh, yes!!!

Even as a Westerner, that's one of my peeves about what other Westerners do. They tend to forget that not everything is made for them and if they don't understand it, try to. Still can't? Don't be an ass about it.

Everything you just said about BNHA, it's how I feel. Now I know some asshat is gonna be like "You're giving Horikoshi too much credit, yadda yadda", happened before and that person is blocked.

But no. No one is saying Horikoshi has perfect writing. But who really does? I write and I say I have flaws. Yet, that doesn't mean that my writing isn't enjoyable to me and to other people.

That's what I feel towards BNHA, as with other stories. It's enjoyable, perfectionism be damned. I also don't know Horikoshi personally, so I don't know how his mind works. Sure, I get confused sometimes and I'll cringe. It happens.

But honestly? Whatever flaws I or someone feels about BNHA, it allows for exploration. It brings fics and art from fans. Criticism doesn't allow have to be a weapon.

Example! Not necessarily a "flaw" I guess, but I liked if Miruko got just as much spotlight and backstory as someone like Hawks. What did that do to me? It got me motivated to writing fics and making posts about her.

There's also the fact cultural differences play a part here, just as much as gender and age does.

I'm a black woman who has never been to Japan. So I know when watching BNHA, created by a Japanese man, I'm not gonna catch and understand some things.

That doesn't stop me from trying to understand so I can follow along. And it doesn't hurt to learn. I don't have to relate to it to understand.

What if the Todoroki family has the same situation as the Hargreeves family...? It's fun to think about like... Maybe different premise (emerging both families personality) or just the same personality but what kind of interpretation you have about it...?

Honestly - aside from all the other obvious reasons - I think Endvr is an idiot for having decided on having one perfect child instead of just having all his kids become a group of heroes, but oh well what can you expect from a desperate pile of misery?

Ever since season 1 I've been thinking about whether Viktor has more parallels with Touya or Shouto - I just can't decide. Because on the one hand, the physical isolation part definitely reminds me of Shouto, but the whole mental isolation part - not having full control over his powers because no one ever properly taught him, being considered some big evil villain instead of uhhh someone that needs a hug (and therapy), both having revealed their family secrets to the public, this parallel that we still have to get back to, etc etc reminds me so much of Touya...

To be honest, it might be my Touya obsession that causes this but most of the siblings remind me of him - Touya and Klaus probably being the most similar in terms of personality (and Touya 1000% would've played "catch" in the middle of the road with his dad if he had gotten the chance - RIP). Besides, I still do NOT believe that there is no Touya fanclub in the bnha universe. I know it exists and Hori is just a coward. But he absolutely could become a cult leader.

Also, can you IMAGINE if those two families met? Maybe after the Sparrow Academy, next season they meet the Todorokis lmao. And Reginald Hargreeves can be added to everyone's favorite friendship/lovers group (Endvr, AFO and AM), they'll all be besties and exchange ideas on how to best fuck up kids~

TL;DR Every fictional character ever reminds me of Touya, I think the Todofam and the Hargreeves siblings would be a chaotic mess and I would love nothing more than to see that.

[And the whole Öga for Öga scene would definitely be Natsuo and Shouto, only for Touya to walk in and tell them what it actually means.]

Hot Take: If two men or boys are seen standing next to each other, BNHA shippers automatically think that they're gay for each other. They also do that when two girls are seen standing next to each other.

Typical shipper behavior, not only in bnha, but anime/manga in generell. People tent to ship everything, no matter if the characters have chemistry or not, if its toxic or not, if its the same sex or not. Im not saying people cant ship, I just think its kinda sad, that so many people seem to believe that romantic relationships are better or are automatical deeper then platonic ones. Many of the best relationships in mangas/anime were platonic and romance would have destroyed them. Espicially if its about a relationship between 2 boys. There seems to exist this weird believe that boys cant be friends with each other and shippers turn it imediately into something romantic. But to be fair, there are also many shippers who just ship the friendship and know there is nothing romantic between them.

Again Im not saying people cant have gay ships, but honestly I think it has sadly lesser to do with people wanting to see gay representation in anime/mangas and more with grown up ass woman lusting for 2 boys having sex with each other, the same how a lot of men lust for girls to have sex with each other.

As a non shipper who really tries not to ship or at least not to focus to much on it, I just think people should focus more on the story instead of headcanons about which character fucks which character in the end, espicially if the story is actual directed at children and not horny adults. If you focus to much on a ship no matter if its same sex or not, people will just end up dissapointed when it doesnt happen and it will turn the story automatical bad.

The warmth of the sunlight seeping through the curtains did little to no effort of being welcoming to the new day. Tired of all the late night homework being done the previous night y/n decided to have breakfast on the way to school.

Passing by through the hallways of U.A was nothing special on this typical Wednesday morning. Y/n made their way to their desk but not before bumping into a certain broccoli haired boy.

"S-sorry, L/n"

"Oh, No problem" I mean it ofcourse wouldn't have been a problem, but oh, how you loved to toy with the poor boy, seeing his flustered face when he stutters through his apologies and covers himself already knowing-

"ahhhh" the poor boy shrieks when he's suddenly pulled by the hem of his shirt collar.

"Watch it, dumbass!" Holding him up wasn't very easy, being 2 inches shorter and all ... But how you loved to show your authority and dominance over the boy was beyond anyone tall(and short).

You throw him to the ground snarling a 'be careful next time' before walking away.

For the love of All might, you couldn't stand the boy. Maybe it was because of the way he actually got here to U.A without a quirk , honestly you didn't know if you were impressed or irritated that a quirkless weirdo was allowed to attend this school, or maybe it was the idea of how you would try to hide the small tinge of pink on your nose, cheeks and tips of your ears whenever you held him close about to punch him. And now was definitely no different.

To say the green haired dork was cute was an understatement, even you had to admit it.

-Time skip-

After school , your walking home and see Izuku on the floor shouting at the tall figure above him, bakugo Katsuki, jackass of the class.

You see Bakugou walk away , while Midoriya is still on the ground wipi g off any blood left from his nose. 'ouch, lid really gets beat up, huh...' .

You ponder over whether you should help him up or just walk past, even though you don't want be involved in their antics- it wouldn't be very future hero-y of you to just leave him.

So you opt for the first choice and walk to him.

"L-l/n... I-i, what are y-you doing h-here?!"

I roll my eyes at his stuttered out question and stick my hand out to help him up, only, he doesn't accept but flinches back.

"tch, take my hand, dumbass"

He takes my hand reluctantly and smiles that oh so adorable and annoying grin.

"Thank you, L-l/n..."

"Don't mention it, seriously, don't!"

He shakes his head up down aggressively, wow- , a little too aggressive...

"I don't know y/n, seems alot like a friendship blooming" Akira says wiggling her eyebrows at me pointing to the green haired by I didn't bully this morning due to being too tired.

Yeah, No... That wasn't the truth. On the way home I had (at the time, unfortunately) been forced to listen to his whole life story of why he came to U.A. After that, maybe a round a week, I had stopped bulling him and unfortunately Akira had noticed.

I walk past Broccoli boy rolling my eyes at my best friend who's walking next to me, I turn my head around and give myself a small smile for what's to come this weekend...

regarding bnha and bakugou/izuku you speak all facts and thanks for doing so. :) Their whole thing always seemed a little off, do you think more than a little when it's paired with the themes of the story?

I honestly really hate the way Horikoshi writes the relationship between Midoriya and Bakugou for multiple reasons.

1. I think the way he portrays all the situations between them like it's Midoriya's fault, and Bakugou never getting real consequences for his actions, while Midoriya also acts like nothing is happening. Like should Midoriya have just left Bakugou alone like Bakugou wanted him to? Yes. But does that justify the way Bakugou treats him? Apparently so.

Example, the first class battle (Bakugou and Iida Vs Midoriya and Uraraka), Bakugou literally almost kills Midoriya in that fight. Kirishima is begging All Might to stop the fight before Midoriya gets hurt. And after that fight? Nothing happens. Midoriya acts like 'oh that's just Bakugou it's okay!' and Bakugou gets no consequences. This is the case literally everytime Bakugou lashes out at Midoriya. The only person who ever really called Bakugou out on his bullshit is Kirishima.

And this would be fine, if Midoriya started to grow and realize it's not okay, and started to stand up for himself, or even just started staying away from Bakugou, rather than purposely putting himself in front of Bakugou, someone who has made it really clear he wants Midoriya to stay away from him.

At no point in BNHA has this ever been the case. At no point has Midoriya realised that the way Bakugou treated him wasn't okay.

2. The fact Horikoshi does keep trying to push them as besties without actually giving the audience anything to believe that to be the case. Like, always having them fight together, having the teachers pair them together. It doesn't make sense.

Bakugou actively bullying Midoriya, the teachers see this, their friends see this, but the story still acts like everything is fine.

Even the apology, a moment I adore, we don't see Midoriya coming to terms with everything. We don't see him and Bakugou have any sort of conversation to rebuild their completely broken relationship.

Bakugou's main friendships are Kirishima, Kaminari and Sero or at least it was in the first half of the manga. They're the ones he spends his free time outside of training with.

Midoriya's main friendships are Uraraka, Iida and Todoroki, they're the ones he spends his free time outside of training with.

Neither Bakugou nor Midoriya try to hang out outside of training, and the only reason Bakugou even started training willingly with Midoriya was because of All Might and OFA. It was nothing to do with Midoriya. If Midoriya didn't get OFA, Bakugou and him never would have started training together. Bakugou would have left him behind in middle school, just like he had wanted to.

It makes absolutely no sense storywise to suddenly push that Midoriya and Bakugou are best friends, when before this point Horikoshi has never shown that. All he's shown is Bakugou literally just starting to care about him, something that is entirely based on the quirk Midoriya holds and not Midoriya himself.

I see people arguing that Bakugou stopped bullying Midoriya ages ago in the story, but that's actually just not true. It may feel like that because of how many chapters are between now and the Class A&B training arc, but it's really not been that long in-story time. In that arc Bakugou still seemingly hates Midoriya, throwing his head things at him because he's annoyed at him.

I'm all for Midoriya and Bakugou becoming good friends, love the idea really, but I just feel there needed to be more moments where they were actually friends before Shigaraki's whole 'you're the one closest to Midoriya' and have me actually believe it. Midoriya and Bakugou aren't close. They've never been close.

They needed a chat between when they saved Midoriya and the final battle. Maybe then I'd believe it. But even in the chapters following the saving of Midoriya, Bakugou struggled to just be nice. He struggled to call him by name, he struggled to treat him well. I wouldn't call that "close" behaviour. When in that same chapter and the chapters before, we had Uraraka yelling at civilians for him, Iida holding his hand to keep him safe and Todoroki covering him with a blanket to keep him warm. For Horikoshi to then turn around and act like Bakugou is his closest friend is like a kick in the teeth to the people who have actually given a shit and cared for Midoriya from basically the beginning.

The fact it's seemingly completely ignored by both audience and characters that for the most part Midoriya is terrified of Bakugou, flinching and getting scared anytime Bakugou even slightly raises his voice (even if the anger isn't directed at him personally). But they still push like the relationship is healthy and normal.

I can't really speak on the themes because I don't really understand what the themes are, but I know if friendship is one, Horikoshi has done a pisspoor job of portraying a good friendship between his two main characters, the same ones he's trying to act like they are.

Sorry for the long answer, I just really do hate the way we never get to see Midoriya actually stand up for himself, or talk to Bakugou about the way he was treated.
