Norwegian vs Spanish 2: The Imperative
Norwegian: So the imperative is basically just the stem of the verb in all persons
Me: ...that's it?
Norwegian: Yeah, I mean, sometimes if the verb stem ends in a double consonant such as -tr or -dr or -kl you can stick an -e on the end to make it easier to pronounce. That's about as irregular as it gets.
Me: Great! Okay Spanish, whatcha got?
Spanish: ...
Me: Oh no
Spanish: So the ending changes according to person
Me: Standard yes I expected this
Spanish: And whether it's formal or not
Me: Mhm of course
Spanish: The endings are kinda similar to the present indicative but like, you swap them over, so -ar verbs take -er/-ir endings and -er/-ir verbs take -ar endings
Me: Okay logical and not confusing in the slightest
Spanish: Also the negative imperative is different
Me: What why?!
Spanish: And now for the irregulars
