I know you've played a lot of pretty obscure games, you've mentionned a bunch before, are there any that you would recommend? I'm want to try and support more indie games, or just creators that make games for fun, but they can be hard to find
i have another blog for that! @ratedjo!
i rarely update it nowadays, cause i just dont have much time to play games, but there are some games recs there!
On this specific post you can get basically 2 pretty big archives of indie games.
I always check this page for weird games, that are usually pretty obscure!
And for a tip on finding indie obscure games, always check Game Jams! The games are often short and free, but very full of personality

can you explain that one post about “the authors philosophy contracts the lore”
-a longtime fablehaven lover who is very new to the fandom
In Fablehaven there was this big thing with light =/= good and dark =/= bad, the primary focus of this was on the dark of course, but we saw aspects of light not equalling good with things like the fairies being petty and the naiads drowning people. The lore was a big fan of it's the *person* who decides who they are, not what they are.
In Dragonwatch... That gets thrown out the window. The demons are Bad, they're helpful when it suits them but they're Bad. Seth being dark? Bad. It's so Bad in fact that the ending for him is *no longer being dark*. He becomes someone who *gets rid of the dark* rather than living in it.
A lot of this comes from all the religious symbolism and philosophy that Brandy was shoving in. It wasn't there in Fablehaven, or well, it was to a certain extent but not in the way it is in Dragonwatch.
Innocence is now the Big Thing (even though loss of innocence was a heavy theme in Fablehaven), Dark is Bad and really needs to be fixed. The magical beings system got entirely redone, contrasting heavily with Fablehavens system, because he needed his Mormon system for heaven to fit in.
Hell, Ronodins fall is legit just like Eve in the Bible and he's demonized heavily for what is effectively shown to he... Him doing his best but making a mistake.
I could go on for awhile in how his religious philosophy led to a lot of plot holes and lore discrepancies, I've done so in the past and others have too, but the basic idea is it just... it doesn't fit with how Fablehaven was set up.

Hi 😁! So I recently saw ur posts on Twitter and a recurring thing that I’ve seen is u HC Leo with Autism.
Not that I have a problem w/ that ofc (I’m autistic myself lol)! It’s just that I’ve seen almost everyone in the fandom HC him w/ ADHD. So I just wanted to ask why do you think or HC him with autism?
Have a great day/night!
I have talked about Leo having ADHD before, but it's not anything special I headcanon him having autism too.
So, to explain, here's some things I've noticed.
He has the traits, as so with special interests (it being illusion magic, as he seems to have been having a knack for it for years on end, along with Jupiter Jim too), stimming, hard time understanding cues, impulsive behaviors, being unaware how other's feel sometimes. He even seems to have a hard time reading books as well. I know that can bleed into ADHD, but it can also bleed into autistic reading comprehension difficulty, as he exclaims that "Hey! I know book words!" like he didn't understand certain words before. Leo even gets attached to objects- such as when he mentions his "lucky rock" in Air Turtle. Autistic people tend to get attached to items, and latch onto them. Leo has even said that he had gotten out of ruts due to this rock, which means that he holds that rock dear. He even starts singing about that rock.
Leo has trouble understanding people's POVs, going back to not understanding cues- as shown in the ROTTMNT Movie, and when he's mainly seen with Raph and Donnie.
He seems to also know prior knowledge about his brother's behaviors even when they don't notice. They don't believe he can do things, and when he proves he can, they're surprised. Leo is a very strategic and information holding person, which can be said to be one of the many "positives" in autistics as well.
I hope this explains some things. Some of these symptoms do overlap ADHD but I headcanon Leo with both. I have talked about it in the past. And if anyone asks, I have both ADHD and Autism!

haiii idk who to ask so i saw u in my tl and wanted to ask how to get into Lifesteal smp and maybe recomendations? /nf!! also love ur art it insires me very much :)
omg thank you!!! so lifesteal rn is in its 5th season, but theres not many videos on it so id recommend watch season 3 or season 4 videos, both are really good but i think people consider s4 a bit more lore heavy
depends on what you wanna watch really, but my personal recommendations are reddoons, rekrap2, princezam, or if you wanted to see the current season, jumperwho. i think they have playlists with their lifesteal vids on them but sometimes they wont divide them by seasons so its a bit hard to tell. any of them are a good starting point tho!!

hi this is so unrelated but I’ve seen you post about being a stem student (I think) and literally how do you cope with finals 😭😭 i did so bad last sem and I need advice (1st year chem eng) if you have any!
i am so unqualified to answer this but here’s like …. my tips … for having written 8 finals in like 6 days last semester in the same boat as you basically SO!
this might be different because I’m a biochem major (technically bio with a chem minor now but still taking courses for introductory BSc requirements) and not chem eng BUT my friends in chem eng share a lot of my courses right now SO:
for math, physics, chem: practice problems until u want to die. like until you seriously want to scratch your eyeballs out. i aced my physics final by JUST doing practice problems FOR HOURS and watching theory videos on youtube for long-answer questions!! if you get stuck (ESPECIALLY on physics) take a break or get a fresh set of eyes to set you in the right direction. if i ever got stuck I literally just left it for an hour, came back and could do it
for calc (calc 2 especially because jesus fuck) i do active recall on a whiteboard for all of the trig substitution stuff (power reducing, product sum etc) because there’s a LOT. also the trig subs for like 1+x^2 and all that. OR i remember one and learn how to get the others from that but that’s kinda hard … mainly I focus trig because that’s what i think is the most dense but reddit forums can help you deal with any problem areas you have!! discord math help servers rock too
if you’re taking biology or psych as an elective or pre req, ACTIVE RECALL. bio pathways on whiteboards especially!!!! so good for metabolic pathways (we did a baseline coverage of them) and the krebs cycle!!! acronyms and rhymes are super good for bio (mainly bio 1 but you know)
also biochem if you’re taking it before second year: the app ‘amino acid quiz’ is a LIFESAVER i memorized them by doing it like once a day … i could draw them in my sleep right now i swear to fod
OVERALL: prioritize yourself overall! also do not compare with your friends outside right before the exam, i found it could be helpful but overall just stressed everyone out because we all studied the content in different ways. you’ll do great!! 🤍🤍 be kind to yourself always, university is hard!
drink water and you got this!!! sending you hugs for finals season friend!

Do you use Procreate? If so, what brushes do you use? 👁️👁️
Yep, yep! It’s my go to art program :>
I mainly use a lot of default brushes as well as brushes from jingsketch, but here’s a breakdown if you’re interested :V
For sketching I switch between the square mechanical pencil and the default 6B pencil. I only use them because their textures remind me of actual art pencils.
Tumblr media
For lineart I use modified versions of the default dry ink and mercury brushes, that I tweaked to my liking. I also use the clean sketch brush if I want to do smooth lineart 👀
Tumblr media
For coloring, I use whatever honestly. I tend to stick with the clean sketch brush if I want to do simple coloring, but for more complex stuff (like my lineless art) I play around with the previous brushes listed and these extra ones from Jingsketch’s brushset

uhhh hi! Idk if your still doing these sorta like f/o dilemma stuff, but the thing is that I have these two f/os that I love sm, but the thing is that they both have these ships that are very close to canon. As in like the creator sorta hinted at it themselves. I’m not like the jealous type about any of that stuff, but it’s impossible to go through their tags without seeing the ship (especially for one of them). I’m just really embarrassed about posting any art of my s/is with them and idk what to do.
Hello! I understand the whole thing with going through a f/o tag and getting hit with canon x canon ships at times. Especially if the characters are hinted at. Now I still struggle with this myself at times, but what I learned is that AUs exist for a reason. That not everything have to go according to canon in AUs. And I know sometimes that can be a struggle, especially when seeing certain ships that may have the chance of being canon can make one embarrassed to want to post stuff because it’s then it like what’s the point? But your self ships are special. They teach you self love and that’s what you got to remember is to be gentle with yourself when it comes to these sort of things. I say just post the art anyways because if it bring you joy to create your self ships, others will see it too, and what truly matters is your happiness and sharing the things you love. And expressing your love for your f/o(s).

Hi. I have seen a lot of people call MAME's shows trash but people still keep watching them. I watched DSN to understand for myself why this contrasting opinions exist and I liked DSN. I didn't see any issues. They don't linger on the conflict, they actually communicate, Fiat is a bit of a baby but the who Norma Bates of his mother explains that. His father's lack of communication gets solved. Fiat actually realizes that he was the bad guy for the step mom (something I don't think I've seen in step mom - step son relationships). The friend groups is really good. The episodes are quite self contained in that the issue raised last episode is dealt with the very next episode, they don't lie or drag the issue out.
I wanted to ask why it's considered trash. Is it the amount of sex scenes? The comedy?
Like with TharnType I get coz of the whole rape thing. (I haven't watched it, only heard about it. This being the primary reason to no watch despite the chemistry of the leads and how popular and ~liked~ the show is.)
Love in the Air, I am watching and I kinda get why Payu thought Rain was hitting on him in E1 and @lutawolf explained the kink elements of the bathroom scene and it makes sense (from what little I understand).
So yeah, why is Mame considered trash?
So, first I wanna say that trash isn't an insult most of the time from me, it's much more just a specific description of a style based on the very popular romance novels of the 80s and 90s. And MAME follows that style to a T in every way where there's questionable consent, lots of dominating without permission and the idea that love erases all sins is hugely present in ways that don't always feel true to the characters.
DSN is a fun show... until the last few episodes where the problems they have stop making sense for the development we've seen over the course of the show because MAME writes problems for characters to have and not characters to have that problem and doesn't take into account any kind of order to them. I enjoyed DSN overall but wish it had been more thought through and ordered because after the big art gallery birthday present the rest of the show kind of felt... over and yet it wasn't, there was so much more that no longer held together well for me.
TT I won't comment on, being absolutely oblivious to chemistry means I ended the two shows hating Tharn and wishing Type would just dump his ass, especially after the accusations of cheating and the apology the never came in TT2 and Type definitely deserves better than what he got. But that's what trash is about! Trash is about how the romance works because the actors work but not because the characters or the plot works.
Also, oh lordie, do I have to talk about the 'kink' in LITA?
You cannot have kink without agreed upon consent.
Let me repeat that.
It is not kink unless the consent is agreed upon before it happens.
There is currently no kink in LITA because there has been no discussion or agreement to a kinky relationship. They cannot be acting on a no kink when Payu has never checked in with Rain even fucking once or created a safe word (no, obeying him and being polite is not a goddamn safe word, that's just PART OF THE KINK as @thequeenofsastiel would agree) or made sure that he wants it.
Yes, we know he is partially enjoying it because of his internal monologue but unless we're gonna find out that Payu is a goddamn mindreader none of the matters. Because he can't know without talking about it first!
Look, I cannot deny that post-episode 3 I am likely to enjoy more of LITA than I did before because they now at least have some kind of agreement. But before that? It's not kinky if there's been no discussion and acting on a 'no kink' without a discussion or safe word is just sexual assault because there's no way to do that.
Payu is fine to think that Rain was hitting was hitting on him but the instant someone says no you stop.
But, again.
MAME is considered trash because her novels are more about drama, often betray any character growth that may or may not happen (@absolutebl talked about this in my choice about Jittirain versus MAME aka 'pointless secret keeping with a shitty resolve' versus 'sexual assault as flirting' post in which that pointed out that MAME's real issue is characters while Jittirain's is plot and you have to pick a priority) and always have a huge miscommunication issue at some point that feels like it should have been solved in a different way.

hi what are some activities you recommend doing while high 🫧 i always end up sleeping but I wanna have funnnn
read below cut !!
funny thing, ive only been high like twice/thrice before, since it's just not something i have time to do/want to heavily rely on. so yh, my fics aren't entirely from experience and are more fantasies lmao. but from the very first time i did, it was with friends so we just listened to music, played a bit of cod, ate and slept. may seem generic but everything is sooo much better when stoned. you'll most likely be tired to do much anyways, so leds + music + a good companion is the way imo.

Hey Rayne! Just wanted to drop in with an ask about writing. I'm curious if you have any unusual or uncommon advice about the writing process. I guess I'm looking for some suggestions that go beyond 'read lots' and 'just write', you know? Any experiences or methods you'd be happy to share would be great! No pressure though! I'm just curious. ^.^
Hey there, Anon!
Thanks for your ASK -- and for your patience with my delayed reply.
I'm curious if you have any unusual or uncommon advice about the writing process. I guess I'm looking for some suggestions that go beyond 'read lots' and 'just write', you know?
Tumblr media
Wow. Ok. Before I throw some ideas out there, I gotta state the small caveat that: when it comes to writing advice, any experiences or methods I suggest are to be tried, tested, and either kept or thrown out according to how useful you find it. I don't think there's a one-size fits all -- which is kind of what the "read lots" and "just write" no-brainers possibly attempt to be? It's a very safe suggestion, right? Just read and write...there's no mention of ritual libations (using questionable and highly-flammable liquids) or moonlit sacrificial offerings to the ink-demon, Scribonian, that lurks at the bottomless well of Lost Writer's Tears...
Not that I do that... *sidesways look*
Seriously though. Experiences and methods that have helped me as a writer which aren't standard suggestions are:
fanfic writing (for developmental purposes and feedback)
And, believe it or not, RP. Roleplaying.
Ok...so when I say "roleplaying", I'm not talking about whip-me-whip-me games in Christian Grey's Red Room of pain (I mean, if you're into that and it inspires the inner eros and passionate writer in you, go for it -- whatever works, yeah?)
I'm talking about old-school RPing, which used to be done on link-based forums (with threads and replies) on some quiet little back-alley website, usually crafted by a dedicated fan; these 'threads' migrated occasionally onto chat platforms like AIM (Christ, I feel old).
Now, back when I was flexing my muse muscles with other writers who wanted to try out their OCs or just have fun with canon characters, it was often AIM where the 'stories' played out...and LiveJournal was the social media hangout.
It was a blast!
Tumblr media
A regular OMG event back then. Especially when your co-writers would come up with a killer response...
Tumblr media
I've never experienced anything quite like that when it came to exploring my characters...I mean, you're writing that shit in REAL TIME. You're responding AS your character, AS things unfold, with very little time to think/plot/plan in certain instances...I guess it's kind of like method acting...it forces you to be extremely present and very much in the character's skin.
Aah, I miss those days, as it's a helluva rush being able to transport yourself into a world that is unfolding as the other writer(s) respond. You have no idea what's going to happen, as you're not in control of the other writer's responses. And when you're writing action scenes or romance scenes, it's nail-biting. I used to love throwing twists in there, just for shit and giggles. It's also a co-creating experience and if the other writer/s are on your wavelength, it can be a fabulous method and experience of creative engagement when it comes to developing and exploring your characters -- or, if it's for a ficlet / fanfic purposes, it's cool for writing a joint fanfic with another writer.
Now, I have no idea if any such chat platforms exist for that kind of back-and-forth RPing...after AIM died and LiveJournal became a ghost town, I didn't come across anything quite like that -- that's not to say it doesn't exist somewhere else.
But, if you know a bunch of writers who are happy to start up an RP with you, there's an idea: writing in 'real-time' is the most intense and awesome way to do it, but not necessary - sometimes it might not even be practical if you live in different time zones. Either way, RPing, like fanfic writing, is a cool way to explore characters -- for me, it was super-awesome, as I'm insanely character-centric in my creative process...that's not the same for everyone. So do what works for you and your process.
I'm not sure if those two suggestions are helpful?? I mean, you could always try the ritual sacrifice and blind-drunk writing route, if all else fails. I joke, I seriously joke.
My grim humour aside, whatever tickles you, DO THAT THING. So long as you're not harming yourself or others -- I mean that quite seriously, as writers can get into godawful, stupid habits when it comes to their practice. My RPing days regularly ended up with me and insomnia doing the dirty tango at Stupid O'Clock due to syncing up time zones with other writers -- it became a bad 'I'm-invincible-(the fuck you are)" habit I took into my later writing practice that did some hardline damage that I still struggle with. So yeah, if that singularly self-inflicted part of my burnout has taught me anything, it's that self-care has gotta come first, even if you have to pause your writing in the middle of an intensely fabulous scene. Makes for good stuff to come back to the next time. Does that count as advice?? Serve as a cautionary tale?? Both??
Tumblr media
Ok, Anon, I've waffled on. I hope there's something of use here in my ramblings. I wish you every success and joy in exploring whatever ideas and methods tickle your inner writer. Feel free to let me know what's worked for you as you embark!
All the best, sweetie. Thanks for this interesting ASK! x

hi anon!! I can't speak for absolutely everyone, and "gone" can have different definitions. some people really did up and leave (jan dwter, mel lovej0ys, cj inniter) while others are just posting about other things (kaisa daggryet, hari sahara4k now girlfictions). again I can only really speak for my mutuals circle because those were the people I was talking with the most.

[Hello again sorry I'm just a little confused]
If im a trans man and I use he/him it's still fine that I look feminine but I'm still a man right?
Everyone keeps saying that if I present femininity that im a girl
Send help
plainly said, gender expression and gender identity are two different, separate things.
It’s absolutely okay, I wouldn’t try to take much advice from people who say that type of stuff. Present however you want, masc, fem, neither, whatever.
one thing that helped me is internalizing that I foremost am the expert on myself, and my identity. It doesn’t matter what someone else thinks so long as I feel happy.
I use whatever labels make me feel happy no matter what, because being queer is complicated and there’s no excuse to try and force someone to present a way they don’t want or to try and force them to use or not use a label that they want to use.
