okokokok so i just had an idea

so i’m gonna use rosekiller as an example for this

so regulus is deaf and barty is his sign language interpreter. and regulus is set on getting barty a partner because he’s tired of hearing barty complain about being single.

they’re in a coffee shop (or some other place) and evan is the barista. and from barty’s blush and fumbling, he finds evan hot. so regulus starts signing/flirting with evan but guess what. it’s barty who has to translate everything.

this does provide some miscommunication but regulus successfully writes evan a message about what he’s doing.

on the other hand, barty thoroughly enjoys flirting with james on regulus’ behalf :D

I’ve been especially busy this week with life so here’s something I started a little while ago that I’m itching to write for when I have the time 📄 Hopefully I’ve found a good balance between the español and english that I can leave you without a translation atm ✍🏼

He pauses to consider TK’s question but his thoughts are interrupted as a loud, “Carlitos mijo,” rings across the crowded produce section. Carlos says a silent prayer that it’s not who thinks, the plea obviously fallen on deaf ears as he’s greeted by the to be expected presence of his mother, his wishful thinking dissipating as he sighs heavily. He’d know that voice and warm delighted expression anywhere, and he’s happy to see her, really he is, just not right now. Not with TK in tow on their totally casual just friends non-date.

In seconds she has rounded the aisles, past the crates filled with fruits and vegetables, a sage canvas bag gripped in her left hand. She comes to a standstill in front of the pair, and Carlos greets her with a wide smile plastered across his features. Hoping his slight displeasure is non apparent and thankful when she doesn’t seem to notice. She tugs him into a tight hug and a kiss to both his cheeks.

“Mamá it’s nice to see you,” he manages to stutter out. “What are you doing here?” he asks, as she releases her arms from their embrace.

Andrea frowns as she begins to recant a familiar story. “Your tía Elena y su novio Javier are coming for dinner,” she answers. “Pero ya sabes cómo es ella,” she adds with a roll of her eyes. Carlos can’t hide his grimace either. “Lo sé Mamá,” he says, all too familiar with his aunt and her many opinions. Especially regarding his mother’s cooking, a complaint always found on the tip of her tongue that she can’t help but to verbalise. He wishes Andrea would stop keeping up appearances with her, or that Gabriel would at least have a word with his sister.

“I need a few things for pozole rojo,” she finally answers him before Carlos interrupts, already irritated on her behalf. “Sabes no debes dejar que ella te trate así,” he implores. “Tienes toda la razón,” she agrees and he raises an eyebrow in surprise. She usually isn’t so quick to agree and he knows there’s more to the story this time but he doesn’t want to press. “Sé que lo soy,” he affirms, as she offers a tight smile patting his cheek, apparently grateful for his level-headedness. Though it’s obvious she wants to move on from the conversation.

TK bounces slightly beside him, not moving to speak before prompted and clearly not wanting to interrupt them. Andrea seems to finally take notice of his presence, chastising Carlos in the process as she introduces herself. “You’ll have to excuse my son as he’s obviously forgotten his manners, I’m Andrea,” she says holding her hand out. TK halts his nervous movement and raises his hand from his side to take her palm in his for a warm polite handshake. “Te juro,” she laments, “I taught him better.”

“It’s nice to meet you,” TK returns with a small genuine smile on his face, before dropping her hand, his own falling back into place against his hip, brushing for a moment against Carlos’ own. Carlos curses internally, awkwardly waving his hand in the direction of TK’s body. “Mamá, this is my friend TK.”

I drew some vons in some of my mutuals' style becuz i wanted to prove that i do look at their fanart on the daily and im totally sane guys @pogostikk @ceephorsshitshow

technical style and cringe von ramble under cut

Pogo's style was the easiest to try and replicate, and very entertaining. So much FLOOOOOOF and very round. I'd describe the experience like drawing cotton candy, my lines being as light and round as clouds. Von's features have a lot of Steven's chub cheeks and sweetness, with Connie's flair. I can see this von trying to eat candies very often and be quite disgruntled being in prams. They are also very squishy, i want this von as a plushie. Lan's style has the most chaotic looking Von, and has already taken my liver. Lots of ovals for the head and very noodly limbs. Literally Gregory from fnaf. This von has quite the unique features compared to how Lan draws Steven and Connie, the head structure and ponytail being more oval and wide than the usual round. They give me Dr. Doofenshmirtz vibes and will have a gun in their pocket somehow. c423 (aka ceephorshitshow) was the hardest to replicate as the way they drew von evolved over time. But the process of figuring it out was very rewarding. The over all style puts emphasis on the head and hair, really highlighting that they are CHILD. With that, this style really brings out the Connie part of von with the TINY AHH LIMBS AND REALLY SMALL BODY- PLEASE THEY LOOK LIKE THEY CAN SNAP IF YA PUT TOO MUCH PRESSURE PLEASE HANDLE WITH CARE. They do have steven's flair, I see his optimism in them, the connie energy in them is very much apparent though and it makes me feel very soft.

Content notice: this post is going to discuss sexual violence, sexualisation and kink related to Astarion's storyline and personal experiences

When making certain posts + writing my fic about Astarion, I knew it was only a matter of time before people would come at me for the content. It was never a question of if, but of when. Because we all know the internet lacks nuance when it comes to certain topics and there are a lot of people seem very invested in being the online morality police

Today I received the following comment on one of my Astarion posts. And whilst I don't wish to give air time to rando's on the internet and don't need (or quite frankly want) to defend myself, there are some points I would like to make in relation to this

The first point being a big reminder that: if you don't like something, DNI. There are plenty of other posts and fics about Astarion that are all fluff and love and treating him like a pretty little princess. Currently, my Astarion content is not that. There are many reasons as to why that's the case. And, again, if you don't like it... go somewhere else cause I ain't about to stop posting what I'm posting just because people disapprove or want to label me as problematic or "not giving a fuck about victims of SA"

I hate to break to ya but life ain't so black and white. Cause here's the thing - trauma + kink are irrevocably intertwined with one another. There are a lot of academic works and smarter people on the internet who will have said this better than me, but the main point that I want to make is that people who create particular kinds of content are often playing in the spaces that they were forged in. It is in the very act of creation that we process things we've experienced, and it's up to us what kinds of narratives we want to explore/tell and what kinds of experiences we want to have (on and offline)

Not to get all TMI on main but I am someone who is actively and unashamedly engaged in many kinds of kink. Do you know what I adore? Being treated like shit in quite domineering and violent ways. Do you know what else I love? Topping little brats who need to be forcefully put in their places. And do you know what else I have? A lifetime of experience of domestic, intimate partner, and sexual violence. This is actually incredibly normal and okay. People who have experienced trauma are multi-faceted beings.

Kink is often a place where people can safely experience untold levels of catharsis (and by extension I am including writing + gameplay in this too). This isn't the case for everyone, though it is certainly true for me, and ofc there are healthier and unhealthier ways of doing this. There was a period of my life not too long ago when I was putting myself in very risky situations to get my kicks, and now I write about fictional characters experiencing these instead bc that's what I want to be doing with my life right now

And nobody gets to tell me shit about what I enjoy, or tell me how to enjoy it, or try to make me feel guilty for it

When I say that I get off on seeing Astarion bloody and bruised, when I say he deserves to be punished and write fic about that, when I play in the space of ownership and toxic relationships, I do so from a place of lived experience. I do so from a place of being well-read and well-practiced in kink. I do so from a place free from shame and fear of what other people will think. Because I have every right to say what I say, to write what I write, and to enjoy what I enjoy. And actually, it doesn't and shouldn't matter. Even if I didn't have those experiences or knowledge, I'm still allowed to create whatever the fuck I want to create and it doesn't make me a "bad person" bc it doesn't subscribe to this puritanical moral agenda that's been seeping all over the internet (Side note: I put this in the tags but it bears reiterating here. This also reeks of the kind of shitty comments that get made about how dom's are perpetrators of abuse and violence, or that subs are victims who are being taken advantage of, which I don't even have time to go into here bc there is a lot of history behind that. but just fyi. don't. just... don't. and if you wanna know why go ask google)

I also say/write/create from a place of my personal interpretation that I think Astarion gets off on masochism too. Have you met the guy? There's so much in his character that indicates that he likes to get slapped about and teased. And yes, I do know his story, I know his background, I know him. Because there is a lot about Astarion which is a mirror of myself. And I am playing with that reflection in lots of different ways (yes, that's an Astarion joke)

There will be a time when I have a very different kind of romance with Astarion, but that's not the kind of experience I want to have right now and maybe, in some ways, I'm not ready for it. Just a few weeks ago I wrote the below piece at 3am (which is now part of a sakuatsu piece about self-acceptance and love) when I woke up crying my eyes out and needed a creative outlet for how I was feeling at the time

Not that he calls it quits. Because the messages never stop coming, they flow freely from the tap. Anytime, anywhere. Whenever he wants it. He's always in demand. Because they all want him, they all want something from him. But he doesn't care. Sometimes he loves it, gets off on it, can't get enough of it. Sometimes it leaves him feeling cold and empty and broken. At the end of the day, what does it matter? It's all that he's good for anyway

And tonight I got hit with Astarion essentially saying something very similar:

The moment I met Astarion, I knew that what we were seeing is a cleverly constructed performance. It's a facade, stitched together of hypersexualised behaviour, witty banter and a charming smile. I would know that performance anywhere, because it's one I've been playing for over a decade. It's a survival mechanism, a mask; something which endears you to others, which makes them like you, sometimes even love you. This performance is something that Astarion has become so very good at that it's become etched onto his soul. He doesn't know who he is without it, he doesn't know what he wants. But now he has the chance to find out.

And here's the thing: he doesn't have to suddenly become some super reformed character or stop getting his kicks in sadomasochistic ways. You can be all about bodily autonomy, self-love, and healthy boundaries, and still also have big ole' ownership, degradation, pain, and praise kinks actually. And there sure as hell ain't nothing wrong with that. Because, again, people are multi-faceted.

There is space for people who want to give Astarion a hug and tell him that he's loved, to have a really tender soft romance with him. And there is space for people who think that Astarion is a horrendous little man who is in need of objectification and punishment. Both of these stances are super valid and fun.

So now, if you'll excuse me, I shall depart from this very long personal essay (that probably no one will read, but which needed to be said anyway). I've got a dungeon scene that's not going to write itself.

Since today is apparently speak your language day I figured I would share some of the expressions I use most often, some of them even daily, enjoy!

When something goes poorly: Det sprack som ett byxarsle- This ruptured like the ass of the pants

When somebody is Mistaken: Nu sket du en grov lök- Now you shat a thick onion

When someone or something disappears: Dunsta som en avlöning i brännvin: Evaporated like a salary paid in booze

When you knew something would go poorly because of course it would- Det kunde man ju dra ballarna i backen på: You could smack your balls on the ground on that one

Somebody messes up and there will be Consequences- Nu har du sålt ballarna till räven: Now you have sold your balls to the fox

And last but not least, if you are Doing The Thing (whatever it may be) and you might even be fast: Här hoppar inga halta löss- Here no lame fleas are jumping

God I miss the days when you could show up to a stranger’s farm and he’d say “What’s your name, boy?” and you’d take off your hat and hold it to your chest to better let him see your face and reply “Why I ain’t got none, sir, on account of my mammy passed on before she could give me one” and he’d tell you he’s real damn sorry to hear that and ask what he can do you for and you’d tell him that you can’t read nor even write neither but you’re mighty good with horses and can mend them fallen fence posts what you saw on your way in and won’t ask for nothing much more than a hot meal and a warm barn to sleep in and he’d keep his wife and daughters inside but send his boy who ain’t got married yet even though his mama tells him he needs a woman out with a lantern and some stew at night and the two of you’d get to talkin and he’d throw you his flask to take a swig from and watch you drinkin from it while he leant against the door frame and when he finally got called back on up to the house again he’d take a sip from it too real slow-like like it weren’t the whiskey what he were tryna savour

I had no idea how or where to begin to parse this, so me and my partner tried to break this down to the best of our ability

Me and my piss poor artistic skills trying to draw what I'm picturing in my head Warlord Ava wearing in my All's Fair in Love & War fic.

What I imagine her more everyday outfit looking like. Kinda similar to Keiji (the leggings and such) but under a shorter kimono with very high slits on the sides for ease of movement and a cold shoulder look. Then in white, pink, and black. I also imagine where the pink is there being flowers (Sakura blossoms possibly). But trying to draw those would look even worse (I swear I actually used to be halfway decent at drawing clothes).

Her armor. Tried a couple of different things... but yeah didn't turn out too well.

Armor on the shoulders and around the waist and supposed to be hakama pants. Black and pink and white in color (when I started drawing this my daughter decided she needed the black colored pencil so that's why it's drawn in brown lol).

And finally this piece thar I think I like a bit better.

Chest plate, shoulder armor, and armor around the waist. Hakama pants. And sticking with the black, pink, & white color scheme.
