yayyyy i drew thh finally wakaka (someone stop me from using this 24/7) anyways i've been mostly drawing wholesome stuff so i'm doing something kid of bittersweet this time? i'm trying to interpret makoto and the others rebuilding hope's peak and finally being able to fix chihiro's laptop and sort of reviving alter ego, leading to the reunion between makoto, kyoko and chihiro! makoto makes the perspective kind of hard to adjust because he is tiny lol (ignore how i'm literally the same height as him) but drawing something more emotional for once is pretty fun! also have a pink chihiro that i accidentally recoloured they look like candy ehe

I could seriously see the debate club being how Kyoko finds out she has romantic feelings for Makoto.

Like, up til then, he's the guy who somehow became her close friend even though she wasn't particularly looking to make friends, and she feels very affectionately for him, and that could have easily been enough.

She knows he's in that debate club thing that her dad keeps saying she should join, but she's been avoiding it because she has other stuff to do and also because she resents her dad. Her classmates start talking about the debate club more and more, though; Mondo and Chihiro have started regularly going to cheer on Taka, and Byakuya goes every now and then as kind of an indulgence (like, "This project I've been working on has gone off without a hitch, so I'll crush some weak arguments as a treat."), and Hina feels like she has to go because Taka and Makoto cheer her on at swim meets, etc. The debate club becomes A Thing, and it reaches a point where so many people are talking about what a good job Makoto does at debate club that she feels like maybe she's a bad friend for not having been more curious about it before?

But she goes to one of their...meets? Competitions? (She decides she's going to read up on debate club terminology.)

And whoa, they weren't kidding about Makoto shining at it.

i am in Full Support of the theory that the DR universe (Hope's Peak Arc) was already mostly a dystopia anyway, which is why for example:

Junko was able to topple things so quickly

all of DR Kirigiri

Hope's Peak openly had an Ultimate Soldier who was, by all accounts, a child soldier (whether or not you think Mukuro chose that path, she was certainly underage at the time)

Hope's Peak also openly had things like Ultimate Yakuza, Biker Gang Leader, Gambler (who took part in other fucking killing games!!!) etc

the broadcast of DR1 to the world was meant to be particularly Painful

"luck" seems to be a Scientific Measure worthy of being studied

the world needed a place like Hope's Peak in general?
