(anon about Wyll getting hells-tormented and transformed in front of everyone) I'm just going insane about him and think I misremembered his first dialogue after the scene a little dkjsk (got mixed up with another backstory line perhaps? about how he doesn't regret the pact and would do it again? or another one maybe it's been a minute since I played :((( ) BUT STILL

just!!! Mizora keeps dishing out torments and he keeps taking it and keeping up his brave heroic face!! and he keeps trying to be as good as possible no matter the sacrifice and augh my heart HE WAS WILLING TO GET KILLED!!!!

and everyone in camp just watching that happen like.. that's Quite A Moment for him to go through right in front of a bunch of people he's only known for (usually) a handful of days at most? and Karlach is right there realizing he was 100% willing to get killed by his patron for her to live! and everyone else in camp is also witnessing all of this!

it's kind of an insane thing to meet a guy and go "oh he's cool and hot and has the tadpole he can come with :)" and then find out the "devil" he's hunting is actually another tadpole buddy and then shortly after that you watch his patron torture and transform him in the middle of your camp and he gets back up and keeps going!! and you're standing there like,,,,, your man just got marinated in all the hells at once,,

and you can talk to him afterwards and reassure him and all but listen. listen.. I just think people who talk about Karlach or a tiefling Tav (or the grove tieflings? do they talk about the grove tieflings?) helping him out with horn care are onto something I think he could use a little more... is the word 'aftercare'? just wouldn't his skin and muscles hurt after all that... what if he needs a little massage :( a gentle head rub :( he needs to go to a spa in Baldur's Gate (and it goes without saying that he (and every one of the tadfools yes but this ain't about them) could use a good therapist)

(technically Mizora was "within her rights" to give him whatever punishment wherever she felt like it but she should also consider dying a thousand deaths and letting him have nice things and leaving him alone forever) (I'm taking him away from her and holding his hands tenderly and– ahem)

...hmm that was more words than I meant to,, I was trying to be hinged and levelheaded in the first ask but then I thought about him more and that just... it happens when you've known him for a couple of DAYS... idk thinking about it made me go feral a little. hope you have a good one I love seeing you on the dash btw <3

it really is kinda crazy to think about all that happening, esp if you also recruit karlach on the same day you meet him 😭 you've known him for less than 24 hours at that point and he just up and makes a huge sacrifice in the name of doing the right thing. just another tuesday for the blade methinks! (also, obsessed with the wording on that - "marinated in the hells" 😭)

honestly, no wonder wyll sulks at the beach during the tiefling party. he has had no time to process everything that's happened - from hunting karlach in avernus, to getting tadpoled, the nautiloid crashing, saving the druid grove from goblins, helping the tiefling refugees, sparing the person you swore to kill, getting transformed into a devil, infiltrating the goblin camp, killing the three goblin leaders, rescuing halsin only to find out they have to go to moonrise towers anyway. all in - what? a week or two? not to mention he has a mindflayer parasite, the threat of mindflayer transformation looming over everyone in camp.

so the one time the party finally has time for rest and relaxation and celebration - that's the time it all hits wyll. he's permanently changed. because he did the right thing. he can't bring himself to celebrate despite all the good he's done. will the people still trust him to protect them? or will they only see a devil?

and AAGGHHH there really should've been more [tiefling] dialogue for wyll... comforting him... giving him advice on horn care... or even as a flirt option to just offer to take care of it for him. yknow. he deserves it and more!!

a/n: im sorry this took me so long to get out! i got busy and had a bunch of stuff come up and didn't have the time to write this until now. i hope that it's all you wanted lol!

you and quinn sat in the choir room, along with the rest of the glee club. schue was late (as always), so you all tried to entertain yourselves for the time being. "so, quinn, how did you and y/n even start dating?" artie asked. santana added on, "yeah, you know i'm curious how you started dating all star y/n who's the captain of the only winning team at the school."

you looked at each other before shrugging "i don't know, i think we just kissed and knew that that's when we knew were dating" you answered their inquiries. quinn nodded "yeah it was when we were studying in my room, i looked up at her and knew that i wanted to be with her, so i kissed her" she said, reaching for your hand that was resting on your thigh.

you shook your head "no, it was when you were watching my soccer practice and you walked onto the field while we were doing suicide runs because we lost the last game. you just walked up to me and kissed me." the cheerleader shook her head, gently playing with the fingers on your hand. "no we were already dating then, we had our first kiss before we started dating" she looked up at you "before we started dating our dates were study sessions"

"you walked on the field while they were doing suicide runs?" puck interrupted, dumbfounded that she interrupted one of the hardest practices. "i have that power" quinn replied. you laughed and nodded "you're still wrong about that being our first kiss but you do have that power" you added on. the blonde cheerleader shook her head "you're misremembering darling"

"how do you not know when your first kiss happened?" rachel asked, you only shrugged in reply, "yeah i remember my first kiss with rachel" finn said with a smile, "yeah it was in the auditorium on this little picnic i made" she said returning finn's smile, leaning into him. "barf." santana spoke up, rolling her eyes back to you and quinn, removing them from the now cuddly couple "i remember my first kiss with brittany, it was while i was dating puck" puck looked at santana, "whatever i cheated on you too" he mumbled.

you laughed at how puck seemed hurt by santana admitting her cheating. quinn slapped your chest to stop you from laughing. you shook your head slightly before looking back at the blonde. "wait hold on, i think you're right" you started, "the study kiss was before and it was our first kiss, but the suicide run one was our first kiss as an official couple"

quinn smiled and looked at you. the rest of the glee club groaned "that's lame, it should've been y/n's. it was more interesting" mercedes says as schue walked in.

"what should've been y/n's?" schue asked, unknowing of what you were all previously talking about. santana answered the man before you or quinn could "y/n's and quinn's first kiss, they didn't know what it was" schuester laughed "i remember mine and emma's" he reminisced. before he could continue you cut him off, "what's the lesson this week schue?"

Hi. Thanks for loving my posts. The few times I was near enough to sniff him (and of course I did), was at Star Trek conventions in the 70’s and 80’s and during a few outside events in Hollywood in the 80’s and 90’s—he did not smell of cigarettes. He wasn’t smoking during these sightings.

The one time I actually met him (shook his hand and chatted with him) was when I visited the set of Star Trek V. Between filming scenes (in the hour or so I was there), he was smoking like a fiend and even then he did not reek of cigarettes. But I was so near him, I might have forgotten to breathe. They probably had great air conditioners inside the soundstage.

I did acquire a few of his clothing items during the recent eBay auctions (sweater, light jacket, shirts). Kris Smith said that after De passed away, she took these items out of his closet and bagged them. Although there is a slight smell to them (which I can’t describe, but I like to think that’s what he smelled like), there is no cigarette odor.

I was told he wore Drakkar and Carolina Herrera colognes. Perhaps he smelled more like those.

what else is on your character sheet?

oh my gosh. i was in the middle of answering this when i went to check something and clicked a link without realizing it was a tumblr link. it's gone. and. well. i'm sure you were not expecting as MUCH answer as i was putting there, anyway, so maybe it's for the best.

my character and worldbuilding sheets have an unhinged level of detail, because i use them not as a "fill this whole thing out before you get started" tool but as an "organize the information you include and thoughts you have so you can reference them later" tool, because (1) audhd and (2) i'm hoping the book i'm working on is the first in a huge expansive world that i'll still be playing in when i'm 70.

the character sheet is broken down into Basics, Role in the Story, Appearance, Communication, Backstory, Family,* Relationships, Personality and Psychology, Just for Fun, and Other (which is just a spot for if i need it, it doesn’t have any questions or prompts). and each of those has a ton of questions (except Other, as established in the previous parenthetical aside).

it's hard to say what i have in there that's the most important, or my favorite, or whatever, because it all depends very much on the character's answer. for example, most of my characters don't think they're in a story at all, they would say "this is my real life what are you talking about i'm not playing a role i'm trying to get to tomorrow," which means the questions you mentioned aren't all that fun for them, but they become very fun for a couple i'm writing, because Nat thinks he's living his best gay musical romcom life and Zari is convinced down to his bones that he's a lead in a deeply tragic romance - in reality, they're more like Merry and Pippin, and if they'd stop for a brief reality check maybe they'd reconsider picking up the Palantir.

these questions fall under "Role in the Story," which also contains fun gems like: personal goal, interpersonal goal, and team goals, because i get annoyed at character sheets that act like people just have one goal. and the full list of D&D skills and sets, even though i've never played D&D, because they seem useful. it also has "how much do they know about what's happening?" and "are they having a good time?" as some more example questions.

i have a lot in the sheet that would probably seem repetitive, but having similar questions in different categories means i think about them differently. i have "health" under Basics, for example, and that means if someone's using a cane it'll probably get mentioned there. but i also have "medical devices and mobility aids" under Appearance, because it tells me one thing that House has a bad leg because of muscle death and uses a cane, and another thing that the cane has flames up it and a skull handle and he uses it wrong. (if i'm misremembering House's cane please don't come for me it's been over a decade since i saw an episode of that show he's just still the most recognizable character i could think of with a mobility aid which is kind of sad)

possibly my favorite part of my character builder is this:

a cartoon by Tom Gauld (@myjetpack). it's right in the middle of my "personality and psychology" section. it's important for me to define what my characters do and don't know about because otherwise i end up with them knowing everything, and that's so boring. this comic just perfectly broke it down for my brain, so i plopped it in.

and a lot of my favorite questions focus on the contradictions and tensions and perception gaps inherent in being a person. what do they hate about the people they love, or love about the people they hate? what do they bring to their relationships, and what do they think they bring? what do strangers/authority figures/children/etc think of them, and what do they think people think of them? what's their biggest flaw and what do they think is their biggest flaw?

i could honestly go on forever about these; in fact i think this is still shorter than my answer that got deleted. so i'm going to cut myself off, but i'm happy to share more about them, and someday i may even post them for anyone else who might want them. i want to use them a bit first, though, to see what can be fine-tuned. in addition to character sheets, i've got sheets for Setting, Species, Religion, Nation, Magic System, Subculture (any group smaller than religion/nation/species that might have its own culture), and Scene (less worldbuilding, more to keep the details and goal of a scene straight in my own head, but still). these are all significantly less detailed than the Character one, but significantly more detailed than any one site i could find included when i was searching. and all my sheets, questions and prompts are gathered and compiled from all over the internet; i would not be able to provide sources because i did not bother to record them.

Another amazing meta. 💙❤️ Every time I feel doubt creeping in on whether buddie will go canon, I head to your meta to remind myself that it'll be a crime not to follow through.

And this week's was... wow. So much happened in only a handful of scenes. That "solid ground" line from Bobby. The second I saw the GIFs for it I instantly thought there's another Buddie/Bathena parallel.

But the moment that really got me was Eddie return to the couch with beers only to find Buck asleep. It reminded me of the trope where the couple who haven't seen each other for a while, are all set to get jiggy, one goes to the bathroom and comes back to their partner sparko on the bed and sighs. So when you said it's the most naked they could be without removing their clothes, I understood you completely.

I honestly looking forward to the rest of the season, especially their date night. ☺️

YES! Hon, that is exactly it. Because whenever that trope happens, we're not meant to read it as "these two aren't interested in each other," we're meant to understand that they have reached THOSE levels of domesticity, of comfort. And that's what we see with Buddie in this ep.

I'm very much looking forward to their date night as well! I still can't believe no one else posted this spoilers pic of their poker night before I did. I was so sure I couldn't be the first one, it's why I phrased it as a question... But it makes me so happy the entire fandom went crazy over it, 'coz yeah, same! That poker game scene is gonna DELIVER. I just know it.

Omg that anon just made me realize that it's not just the couch Buck hasn't really picked. So he was living with friends (frat house as the anon called it), then Abby's apartment, and then he chose the loft with Ally, obviously expecting it to be there home (and I may be misremembering but wasn't it her choice). I can't believe I never realized that.

I don't hate the loft either, and your right, it fits his bachelor lifestyle. It definitely feels like a bachelor pad, but now I can't get over the fact he didn't choose it alone, for himself.

This is in continuation to the anon asking about the loft. You're both absolutely right! From the way Buck and Ali interact with the sales lady, it's clear that Ali HAS a lot of say, and that she saw Buck's loft as the place that would be her other home. Did she have the final say? We don't know. But at the end of the day, the way he presents it is that this would be the first place he gets on his own.

So IDK, I'm still mostly positive about the loft. Did he choose alone? No. 'Coz he did have a gf he was committed to, and even if they weren't at the stage of fully living together, they were on the road there (a bit similar to how we saw Taylor in his loft in 5a, TBH. And yes, that very much strengthens the similarity to how he didn't choose the couch). But he was so enthused about being "an adult" who supports himself and is paying for his place on his own. I can't overlook that. And much like the whole idea of how a journey through the wrong r/s is needed in order to find the right one, that's how I kind of feel about the loft. It's not Buck's ultimate destination (that's Eddie's house), but it is an important step on the way there...

I might be misremembering, but I feel like I recall Jessica saying something to the effect of not being able to locate a couple of the Yellowjackets? Meaning there could be a few more outside of the core 6 who are still alive? I might be delulu but if anyone outside of the core group survived I'm hoping it's Akilah. I feel like she would have had the strong family support to reintegrate into regular life and probably also would have gotten the hell away from everyone else at the first opportunity.

Well, I hope you don't mind but I would like all your thoughts on the Charlot/priest incident in The Charioteer. In particular, is it the beginning of the end for Laurie and Andrew, or a sign that their relationship is actually growing in strength?

Thanks for the ask! I do enjoy these excuses to go back and read this book. So! I went into this remembering the scene as kind of a low point for those two and was reminded very rapidly of how brutal it was lol. Like yeah, Laurie's getting pissy at Andrew cause he is kinda being a useless. (To which I'm forced to say, yeah fair, but what are you expecting out of a 19 year old blond twink, laurie? They're not exactly known for their usefulness) Then he realises that one thing he's come to really love Andrew for (his tendency to slip into a quiet thoughtfulness) is not something he can rely on when times get Real - probably especially for a relationship. There's this bit in my notes where I went fully stream of consciousness mid-sentence that made me laugh my ass off:

Much of this chapter has Andrew hurrying out of the room back and forth from somewhere else, the nurse, the laundry, whatever. I think this absence really gets to Laurie.

And then we get to the meat of the scene, where Laurie wants Andrew to impersonate the priest, since Charlot would recognise him if he tried to do it. It's a very… pragmatic idea, and rooted in compassion. All things very Laurie-core. But any semi-religious person would balk at the idea, I know my raised-catholic ass cocked a brow in surprise when I first read it. And unfortunately for Laurie, and perhaps Charlot depending on where you stand, Andrew is quite a bit more dedicated than just "semi". He declines, obviously.

Now, when Andrew starts standing up for himself and denying Laurie's frantic request to impersonate the priest (thrice! somebody fetch that rooster!) I was like… we're so back!! It's even stated how hot Laurie thinks Andrew is when he's putting his foot down like this. But I think the plaster's already been ripped off at this point, and Laurie's much too frustrated with Andrew. There's much difference between how the two are as people, and he's been quite forcefully shown that divide in this situation. He's already wished that Ralph was here in the scene like twice by now. That's where he's most comfortable: "Ralph would've understood."

After their row, Laurie does apologise but the damage is already done. Fwiw, I'm not very convinced by his apology, like I do think that he believed those things he said, he's just such a people pleaser that he wants Andrew to not be upset. Andrew's still hurt from all of that, though, despite saying, "It's alright" a couple of times. But he doesn't really know how to express it, so he goes for the o2 cylinder. There's some cool foreshadowing of Andrew doing violence with that. We're reminded how he's actually quite strong, and how he's said to be "attacking" the cylinder. And there's something Laurie sees on his face described as "something of a revelation", does Laurie see those latent impulses for violence there, which he can't express because of his beliefs? Ties in with the son of a soldier thing etc. Anyway, Charlot then goes unresponsive. Andrew leaves again, to get the nurse. When they're back, she scolds Laurie and orders him to bed - leaving him with no chance to talk things over with Andrew.

Now, the scene in the kitchen. On my first read through, I was so in shock from the kiss that I hadn't really absorbed what else was going on here: this reads like a breakup! This is such a breakup! Laurie's going away, the way it's worded… the vague promises of visiting again and staying in a farm nearby. The bittersweet reminiscing of the Mozart, which was originally what they thought was the oboe quartet, but Laurie misremembers it as a concerto. But then again, things have changed now, haven't they? That one line, "I've never known this place with you," gave me a head rush so strong I thought I had covid. And then he goes to call the Mozart piece, "One of those tunes that people have" [that they associate with a lover who's gotten away from them??], and I went visibly pale lol. And then that line about Dave moving to the east end, where the Blitz is in full swing? 'Does he have to do that?' 'He can go where he likes, he's years over military age. It's because of Cynthia, I know.' Andrew gave him a strange bewildered look and added, 'I know how he feels. No, that must sound stupid. I mean I--' Did he just compare Laurie moving away to Dave losing his spouse?? im gonna explode???

There's so much good stuff here, these two really are so sweet! It starts to feel like Andrew's coming around, he's almost ready to figure it all out, he's opening his heart to Laurie here. He trusts Laurie and only feels normal around him etc. And Laurie is even moved enough to kiss him, to enlighten him. Maybe it'd be a goodbye kiss, just like what Ralph did to him, all those years ago. Only, again, they're interrupted. It's not meant to be.

-- Random thots that i'm gluing onto the end:

There's a lot of this disconnectedness between the two that I've brought up before a hopeful laurie/andrew dreamer. They don't really get a chance to communicate here because Andrew has to go off and do things/get the nurse, and when they try to, they just end up fighting and not really resolving anything. Other things I noted down that tie into this theme - the line to the priest being cut, and no communication can get through, the nurse separating them, and then interrupting their kiss! Even Laurie's transfer kinda smoothly fits the idea on a larger scale.

Another thing I've brought up before is the whole "keeping Andrew in the dark" thing, which crops up here again. When they're talking about Ralph and what he'd did to get expelled in the kitchen, Laurie doesn't clue him in. Now obviously because it was quite the scandal, and he wanted to protect Ralph, but also he wanted to protect Andrew from learning about himself and not bring up anything gay! This is another of those times that people pulled the wool over his eyes.

Dont think I didn't notice Laurie purposefully avoiding sleep so that he can wait up in the dark just to get a chance to see Andrew, TWICE! That's my girl...!

A completely random thing to notice, but whatever, it's there. In this chapter, Charlot keeps getting these quite... animalistic descriptions in his appearance. His "thick chin", his "oxlike brown eyes," "blunt hands," "coarse, curly hair", (like a sheep? admittedly lots of reaching going on here), and his "animal state" giving Laurie the impression of "watching a dying dog". That last one of them is ALSO crazy because doesn't the wedding, where Laurie finds out about Gyp, happen after this chapter?????

Hiii!!! I love ur Dead-phone au thing (Where all the dead phones are basically in a limbo server together!!) and I had a couple questions I hoped you could answer!! No pressure ofc, I just rlly adore the concept of the au and wanted to know more abt it :D! 1. How long has this Limbo-like server existed for? I'd guess quite a while but has it kind of always been a thing or did it only come into existence recently? 2. If its existed for awhile, has 4 ever been there? He was only really dead for a short amount of time, but perhaps he caught a glimpse of it? 3. Does Corn man know about the servers existence or is it kind of quietly running in the background? I've kind of been assuming its a server they connected to at some point / some back up server with all their data in it and I think you said it was something like that at some point??? but like if im misremembering anything I'd love to know lmfao :'] Thats kind of all my questions for the meanwhile!! 2. Yes! I had a silly little idea where he and 5 wake up in it, make incredibly awkward eye contact for a few seconds, and then he just evaporates from it when 4S downgrades lol

3. Cobs knows about the server since he set it up and has the Meeples' data backed up to it, but I'm not yet sure if he knows specifically about them being conscious and in a digital-world in there... Either way, they haven't caused any problems, so he leaves them alone

Hello, I’ve sent in a couple asks before, I hope you don’t mind me sending another one.

I have a female ball python who is about four and a half years old (her name is Pi!), and I’m wanting to move her into a glass Vivarium, not because it’s much larger than what she’s currently in but it’s just more accessible for me as an owner.

I remember reading something where, and I apologize if I’ve misremembered, you said that heat lamps are preferable to heat mats for ball pythons? Why is that? I’ve been using a heat mat for the past four years, but it’s needing replacing and I figured I would do that with the enclosure change.

Also, do you have any recommendations for how to cover up the top of the enclosure so less moisture escapes?

Heat bulbs are generally preferable to heat mats for snakes like ball pythons because heat mats don't raise the ambient temperature in the enclosure much at all. With heat mats, you get a small area that is the hotspot temp, but the ambient temperature might raise a few degrees at most. With heat bulbs, though, the entire hot side of the enclosure is heated to the correct temperature. Snakes like ball pythons generally eat better and are more active when they have a higher ambient temp.

For adult ball pythons, a PVC enclosure (I recommend a 4x2x2 at least) is generally the best enclosure option! Glass tanks with screen lids can really bleed humidity and struggle to keep heat in, so I recommend looking into a PVC enclosure if you're able and if it suits your needs! PVC enclosures really make life easier for ball python owners and cut down on the maintenance needed to keep humidity up.

If the glass vivarium is the best option for you, though, there are a few things you can do to help keep the humidity up. Covering a portion of the screen with a plywood sheet cut to size (or wrapping it tightly with tinfoil) is an option. Make sure you use a humidity-retaining substrate, and keep an extra water bowl on the warm side so that the evaporating water releases moisture into the air. Always make sure your snake has access to a humidity box!

To be honest, I haven't really thought about her in a while. I've been trying to get away from the things that don't bring me joy. Pathetic, I know. I think the last time I really gave her any thought was a couple months ago when a coworker of mine who's a self published author and I were discussing our journeys as writers and the advice we'd gotten. The subject of Jenna came up when discussing booktube and author advice channels. Despite being drastically different genres, we both watched her videos and similarly, outgrew them.

My dislike for her boiled down to a couple things.

1. She's a hypocrite and probably doesn't realize it or at least, I hope she doesn't. She peddles advice but when you read her books, she hasn't followed any of it. One big one is the Insta-Love problem. Maybe she doesn't see it as such but it is.

2. She's a prude, and if you like something that she doesn't, you're wrong. I've made it no secret here that I love monsters. She doesn't and has said in her videos that monster romance is gross and no one should write it. I may remember this wrong, but I think she even said that if you like monster romance, you should get help. She also, and I'm not misremembering this, reduced Shape of Water down to the fish sex movie and called it gross. I won't give an entire TED talk about the movie, but it shows how little she actually knows about it or the care Del Toro put into it, and maybe she should keep her mouth shut. She has entire videos that are just tropes or dynamics she thinks should go away, and it's basically every single popular romance trope. Now, if she just said that they weren't her cup of tea, cool. But she doesn't. She gets really shamey about them. She's one of the examples of people in the fantasy romance community that fall into an unpopular opinion I've been brewing for some time.

3. She hates women who aren't her. Every woman in her books, besides the self insert FMC, is talked about like they're horrible. There's no nuance to her thoughts about them. It's clear that she views women as competition.

4. This one is just a small gripe... she calls herself a full-time writer. She isn't. She's a full-time YouTuber with two books to her name (three if you count the one she's trying to bury), one of which is just book one told from a different character's perspective.

5. The way she writes men is horrible. The way she writes men is like how men write women. She writes them the way my Christian parents talked about men when I was in high school. They lack nuance or complexity. They all talk and act like 80s movie Frat boys.

6. She comes off super arrogant. I lied about not thinking about her in a while. She was mentioned on a podcast I listened to on Friday. My bad. They mentioned that they've spoken to people who were former beta readers of hers. Those betas said she would just dismiss their thoughts and criticisms. Girl... you gotta keep learning if you're gonna get better.

7. When giving examples in her videos, she uses her own books. That just seems weird to me. Pick a book more people have read.

That's basically it... I just stopped watching her stuff. There's probably more I'm forgetting, but yeah... I wanna get back to bg3.

Sorry, I always see your posts late. More thoughts on to be the knife? Character moments you didn't get to include or backstory that didn't make it onto the page or how do Xiazi and Xiao Hua end up crossing paths again?

(you don't see them late, and there is no expiry on asks or ask memes for me. you just need to link to it if it's a numbered question so i know which post to refer to for example. i just explicitly post inviting asks because i have limited energy, have recently been travelling abroad and this week have the requisite flare-up, and i also sometimes just want to make it clear when people will get a timely reply. and often, if it's a message i want to really think about, it'll take some time anyway! so yeah, you're all good <3)

OH, OH THERE IS SO MUCH. especially because i'd ideally like to write another fic in that universe, with the proviso i have a Backlog and a promised heist au because of that one poll. i'm tagging @difeisheng mostly for the sake of it being a shared baby so they can pull me back in line if i've forgotten/misremembered something.

i think the most fun thing to focus on in this reply is how they cross paths again, which is that the victim in the current murder case is, in fact, an ex-employee of xiao hua's. xiao hua has a spy network throughout the city, and a large number are women and men who were previously indentured sex workers, and xiao hua bought their contracts and destroyed the contracts, usually dramatically in front of the people, then offered them a job working for him in some capacity. this means that even if the person chooses to leave sex work and say, open a business (which he might give them a loan to open) or work in a hotel etc (he'll assist that too), they can still accept working for him as a direct spy. or otherwise, they know they owe him a favour he can call in. the women in the brothel in that fic have actively chosen to stay in the profession. he isn't helping people find jobs or open businesses or get married out of the goodness of his heart, it's because hope is a valuable currency to buy extreme loyalty, and often is more effective than fear in certain cases.

so, xiao hua is pretty concerned that an employee of his has shown up dead. and he doesn't like the implication he can't take care of his own. so he ends up helping wu xie solve the case, and this involves him and hei xiazi infilitrating a western-style dance hall, posing as a couple. xiao hua in this is still very trans, remember, and so he decides to dress in western women's clothes of the time and pose as a short-haired ingenue, and hei xiazi sees this and just about drops dead, since i apparently only write one kind of cross-dressing.*

we just thought it'd be fun to have xiao hua in a typical 30s ballroom-appropriate gown sitting in hei xiazi's lap to perform brainlessness while hei xiazi has no clue where to put his hands given xiao hua could cheerfully cut them off with the knife he has strapped to his thigh next to those stockings. then they break into the owner's office. and make out in there. and then get caught. and then escape. and then fall into bed together back at hei xiazi's apartment. i'm pretty sure that's the next meeting. i feel like ash will correct me if i am wrong.

*i'm using the term cross-dressing, btw, because contextually that is how the character views it, and how they are operating within their understanding of it, attraction or kink or complicated feelings or otherwise.

StrayGods!Anon here, and first of, Congrats on The Offspring!! ❤❤❤ I wanted to say thank you for answering and that "finding compassion" and "forcing our side to do better" are very much possible in ST:TRM and that the kiddos changing together is very much the point of the Freddie Lives storyline, so I think you may enjoy them. And also, I honestly wasn't gonna ramble about my very specific OCs but honestly that's the best excuse ever to rec a few fics which I think every MHA fan deserves to experience at least once so, yeah, rambling it is. Hope that's ok.

I haven't been keeping up with BHNA in a while so I may be misremembering but I'm pretty sure at one point is mentioned there was a Third World War which, as a plot point, it is a great way to explain how technology may have mostly stagnated but they can still have crazy support tech and can send holograms in acceptance letters. But, last I checked, it wasn't a plot point that got explored and keeping the ST:TRM's take on Aphrodite would allow for that exploration and for just the right context to plop this OC on. Besides, it's a much more interesting (and heartbreaking) version of her than that of PJO and the themes of her storyline are heavy enough to make the seriousness of their situation impossible to ignore. /AKA: If you check nothing else about ST:TRM please let that be "Stray Gods 鈥� The Ritual 鈥� Red Path".

The OC I'm talking about was always meant to be an Aphrodite kid who was very disenchanted with his mother and demi siblings, someone who seemed just as untouchable as All Might from a distance but was just as flawed and vulnerable once you got close (if in different ways), and he was always meant to die. He was inspired by a bunch of different things and while I hadn't considered him for an BNHA AU before but he fits like a glove here. I kinda themed him around The Golden Apple of Discord, which got reflected in his appearance, personality, the sheer amount of plot hooks he could generate, and his last name being linked to an apple variety. He got the name Prospero Fortunato Worcester (aka Lucky) because just around the time his dad realized who the mother was he also realized his boy was gonna need all the luck he could get, and he wasn't wrong. Just like many other Aphrodite kids, this boy had a lot of unwanted attention sent his way and it was what messed him so badly in the end. I sort of envisioned him as having golden brown skin, reddish hair and the kind of eyes that make think of firebenders, but what really made him stand out wasn't his good looks but his charm and hard-earned skills.

Personality-wise I want you to imagine what would happen if a pan version of the very gnc Angel Dust from Hazbin Hotel was a deceptively angry couples' therapist who isn't so much interested in helping you solve your problems but in judging/punishing you for not treating your partner as they deserve. He's totally the kind of person who during a quest would have at one point have to make a choice between chucks and stilettos and may've actually chosen the chucks 'cuz practicality... unless someone questioned his ability to *use* stilettos. Then not only he'd have chosen those but he'd make a point of use them as improvised weapons as much as possible regardless of impracticality. If some asshole ever tried taking off a ring before flirting with him he'd flirt back... and then use the distraction to steal said asshole's ring, wallet and maybe even car. After all, even tho he didn't get involved in many quests, he was on the road a lot and would definitely be more *appreciative* of what he gets.

His reason for being always on the road was inspired on a really interesting fic I unfortunately don't remember the name of. The premise of the fic being an investigation of where did the kids of the less easy-to-turn-kid-friendly gods went and what their powers may be. Some of those kids were the children of Eros, and while I have trouble imagining PJO Eros having kids outside his marriage I can easily see it coming from ST:TRM Eros, whose wife doesn't seem to be in the picture anymore. The power/curse of these kids was in their allure and I couldn't stop worrying about the kind of mundane monsters some defenseless kids who don't understand their heritage could attract outside the safety of the camps. Considering satyrs are the children of the god of Lust, Mischief, and Wild Things, they may not have been the best match to ferry those kids to safety... and that's were Lucky comes in. His life was basically those first 4 seasons of spn that were a constant road-trip of killing monsters to save people.

As for why he had sucha distinct role, well... that's tragic backstory territory. Baby Lucky was a charming little boy born as the oldest kid and only boy from a loving family so mixed they lost track of ancestry and a very MLK reverend who made sure to pass down the right values onto his children. Y'know, someone who was very much about equality and social justice but with a dash of God Is Love And Love Is Life that would have appealed even to ST:TRM Aphrodite despite the different religious background. The only reason they were ok with letting him start camp young was because they hoped it would give him the best chance at safety; they were wrong. He never quite fit with his Aphrodite siblings, only partly because that whole "completing" someone that Piper stuck them with reeked of codependency instead of anything his family taught him about love. But other than that he had no problems making friends *without* Charmspeak. Yes, he did have it but consent was a thing he cared about too so he only used it when absolutely necessary. And he was so talented and eager to learn that he got skilled fast; maybe too fast, who knows how his life would've gone if he hadn't gone on a quest so soon.

Regardless, on his very first quest this Angel Dust met his Valentino. A very magically powerful being took a liking to our lovely Lucky boy and did *not* took rejection well. They cursed him with a suitably heroic fate whereupon everyone he loves would be fated to die, except themselves of course. Now that would be a terrible fate for everyone but for a kid from the Godess of Love... yeah, our boy was wrecked. And of course the camp couldn't turn its back on him, especially since it was obvious to everybody that Aphrodite could have lifted the curse if she bothered so, evidently he was on his own to fix things. Therefore he pretty much cut ties with basically everybody, including his mortal family, and dedicated himself to finding a way to reversing the curse or, failing that, to perma-kill the bastard who cast it. In order to do so he got closer to the Hecate kids while still keeping his self-imposed distance as best as possible. It helped than one of his best friends from before then was a very respected Hecate kid that was as understanding as possible of his situation and wanted to see him go back to his old self. And he was granted his new role as a way to help him train and research while keeping himself and others safe as much as possible since life on the road shouldn't allow for many deep interpersonal connections.

A more self-imposed social distancing attempt was his habit of calling people just by nicknames and having them call him by his own; no learning of names. Although perhaps the fact that everyone but his godly siblings got a personalized nickname defeated the purpose of that. As for the other children of Aphrodite they all just got called Dove; which was cute enough so long as you didn't know he called *actual* doves winged rats. Or that he would unfailingly take hairspray and lighter to any suspiciously gathered flock of the things for being enemy birds. He resented his mother treatment of him and the general parental neglect from Gods but he knew there was nothing he could do about it. So he dove right into magic and used it to take that old God Is Love And Love Is Life to the extreme of being able to use his godly powers to either heal, inflict seemingly unending emotional torment on monster and human alike, or even siphon the life-force from anything living through direct contact and use it to empower/heal himself and add it to the strength of his attacks. And he complemented this already OP arsenal with any and all magical trinkets he could carry, plus amazing fighting/weapon skills of his own. Maybe he was trying to distance himself from her mother's perceived legacy but if anything he was the son to most closely resemble her, at least in her Aphrodite Areia and Venus Genetrix aspects. She may've been proud... had she bothered to be part of his life.

Despite this he was never assigned nor invited to any quests after that first one (and would likely have declined any invites anyways) since quests are bound to forge strong bonds between people. That is until a new prophecy demanded it and kinda hinted he'd face the bastard who cursed him then. The way I envisioned his plotline he'd join the MC in their quest and have plenty of chances to show off his badassery and protectiveness in indispensable ways, right alongside his charm and self-destructiveness. Needless to say it wouldn't have taken him long to touch everyone's hearts despite his best efforts. And at some point the confrontation with his Valentino came to pass but no one managed to catch more than the tail end of it where a conversation seemed to have taken place and our Lucky boy started laughing before perma-killing the bastard. The actual objective of the quest got fulfilled as well and for a while everything seemed more than ok. Our boy dropped most of his more self-destructive habits and seemed to have gone back to who he was as much as it was possible for someone who'd changed so much. He reconnected with all the family and friends who'd have him back and seemed to revel in their company. But soon enough the contents of that fateful conversation came to light and not by choice. He'd never claimed the curse had been lifted but as it turns out, it got reversed. In an attempt to save himself the bastard threatened to make so that if he were to be killed by Lucky and he dared to love anyone afterwards then he'd be signing his own death sentence. So now his former quest partners are on a self-imposed quest to reverse *that*. Lucky himself couldn't care less but tags along 'cuz he doesn't want his idiots to get killed in his behalf. Everyone else gives it their all. They still fail. Just as Lucky thought they would and never blamed them for.

In this DOZI/ST:TRM AU I think he should be death since well before Izuku was offered OFA but that his presence should still be felt. And, I'm just spitballing her but, since this Izuku never developed a hero-worship for Bakugou, can you imagine how that offer would've been affected by Lucky filling up that role for Izuku instead? If this boy had already seen one of his imperfect but amazing and seemingly untouchable heroes die before meeting an All Might that's obviously holding by a thread he'd jump at the chance of keeping him from a tragic fate. After both the eidolon and daddy dearest he wouldn't even question quirks being transferable but he may have questions about whether or not anything besides power is passed down with OFA. Also, this Izuku would probably have some very conflicted feelings towards The Godess Of Love.

With that essay over, I just wanna say that looking back I found a really answer you gave about what you'd like to explore if you were to DOZI and it being either amazing crack or thoughtful dive into heavy themes and since I've always been a "Why not both?" kinda gal I'm gonna get straight to reccing those fics I mentioned. First off, I think having had Lucky in his life would鈥檝e made Izuku a lot less tolerant of Mineta and therefore far faster in helping the girls pull the Fury level power play they threw down at the creep in "Mineta's No Good Very Bad Vibes (or: where enough is enough)" by hannahbal. But also that ask about everything about the funky bean being contagious reminded me of "don't you just want to go apeshit?" by kkachis, MargaritaDaemonelix, which is an amazing read for anyone who has yet to see the potential of memes as a tool of psychological warfare. And lastly, the "god Izuku needs a nap" series by Universal_stoat has the Vestiges pulling some UA Unsolved bs that ends up convincing a bunch of people of Izuku's godhood which, kinda fitting for any Greek Gods AU.

Lucky sounds like a very fun oc, and I agree it would definitely fit for Izuku to really look up and admire some older campers, which means statistically... Well you know their life expectancy. It would be a fun aspect to consider with Izuku's looking up to All Might in another but similar way
