200X and SPOP Hordak
Despite some visible differences, I do think 200X version of Hordak (as did other versions) did inspire in part 2018 Hordak.
Design-wise, there is a number of similarities, with SPOP's Hordak's life support armors resembling 200X Hordak's metallic or stone-like armored skin:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The the armors of SPOP Hordak, mixed with his blue skin also reference that that Hordak was depicted as both having blue and grey skin in his various incarnations.
There are also other similarities, design-wise. Capes and collars of both have fairly similar designs, and (in armor 1) SPOP Hordak has diamond shaped gems in his bracers, while 200X Hordak has either round gems (in the cartoon) or diamond shaped miniatures of his head on his gauntlets (on his Emiliano Santalucia/Comic design used for the NECA statue/toy).
Hordak's LUVD crystal also resembles the crystal Hordak started to wear on his collar since his 200x comic/statue design (earlier it was just an empty diamond/deltoid space there, or lack of it).
Both versions also wear a crotch flap.
SPOP Hordak's arm canon, while largely based on the arm canon Filmation Hordak changed his arm to (as did several other latter versions of him), also resembles the crossbow-energy canon 200X Hordak wields in his statue and Santulicia art accompanying it.
The idea of Hordak having hair, is also something 200X comics thought about, in Hordak's original body would be revealed as indeed having it:
Tumblr media
Though this fact could also inspired by the fact early Filmation concepts did give Hordak hair, instead of a fin, spikes or ridge:
Tumblr media
From story and personality, both Hordaks are banished to/trapped in Desponos, which is the cause of them invading Etheria (this element was used in MOTUC and DC comics too, but first appeared in the 2002 cartoon).
In the 200X comics, Hordak would be revealed as loyal, even seemingly devoted to Horde Prime, like SPOP Hordak, and both would not have plans of usurping him (as do several other versions). (At least from what we know about the plans in the 200X comic for Hordak.)
In his original body, Hordak could hide among the Horde Wizards/Wraiths, suggesting they look quite similar. This possibly inspired the idea of Horde Clones, even kinda translating to their design resembling Horde Wraiths

A WIP closeup and linearts of a Hordak piece I'm drawing together with the awesome Draculadana (Instagram collab post here.). This combines attributes and ideas from most of his incarnations, including the CGI He-Man. He's wielding the Sword of Horokoth, claiming the Power/Havoc for his own. We decided that the wings are spellcast. XD

If Hordak is going to appear in the new season does that mean we could eventually see She-Ra again? Or is there still some legal issue keeping her separate from He-Man? I'm pretty out of the loop with these things.
YEP. Pretty much.
This is one of the several reasons I don’t care for Dreamworks She-Ra. I think it has wonderful designs, and I really enjoy the diversified body types and the color palette. But the story I couldn’t stand, and it made the lore of She-Ra far less interesting, at least in my opinion.
For one thing. He-Man and She-Ra are twin properties. Literally. They’re twin siblings. Their stories are intertwined. She-Ra was created after He-Man so that there could be a feminine counterpart for all the girls who loved MOTU. I think it’s one of the most genius ideas that anybody at Mattel has ever come up with. (Let’s be real, it was just to sell toys and broaden their demographic, but you get the idea.) But when Dreamworks produced their She-Ra, it severed the possibility of them ever being shown together again, at least until the legal issue is resolved.
I know very little about copyright law, but I do know that Hordak has been a part of MOTU without the inclusion of She-Ra before, and has been featured in stories just on Eternia, with the original cast of MOTU. He was also featured as an important character in the 200x series, without any mention of She-Ra. I think he’s in a weird spot with copyright, because he features heavily in both properties. So MOTU and SPOP being separated for whatever reason is nothing new. Even in the 1987 film, She-Ra was originally meant to appear, but was cut from the script at some point.
At this point it seems silly of me to blame Dreamworks for the properties being separated, but I do really think it was the final nail in the coffin when the show was produced.
All these poor decisions led up to each other, and now we can’t have a story with them working together the way they were meant to be. It just makes me sad and frustrated. Sorry if you were hoping for something more idealistic, but it’s one of my biggest frustrations regarding my most prevalent special interest.

Hordak was also in the 200X cartoon. There he was an ancient warlord from Preternia in where he along with his Evil Horde were defeated by King Grayskull (the ancestor of Randor, Adam, & Adora) & banished to Despondos. He would have some spiritual power however in where he tutored Keldor & eventually turned him into Skeletor.
He would've been the main villain in Season 3 but the series was canceled due to the whole 200X stuff not doing well.
which is the iteration of Hordak voiced by Keith David?

sooo in these AU it is the 200x he man btw everything happens the same except Skeletor and evillyn adopt adora instead of giving her to hordak. Everyone in snake mountain love adora as much as she dose them she loves playing and learning about animals with beast man, her and tryclops make invitations and listen to rock music, she is still an over achiever she loves to fence, read, do math and Science, sing and make dresses. She and Skeletor are very close and she is just as close with evillyn. Adora is a very happy girl she loves to use her magical powers like healing and growing flowers. And she knows that she was taken but dose not care she dose not hate her brith family except for randor and mrio for she sees that they only look out for humans not for freaks like her father. Everything was perfect until her 16th brithday.

Revealing Hordak in Prima Materia's main story and having to go like full in on creating new work for it so that I do not accidentally invoke the CURSE (introducing Hordak then getting cancelled) upon my 'series' like 200x and CGI.

Clearly the Bad Guy
Tomorrow’s my birthday, which, as you can imagine, I’m super excited for. Already, I’m getting birthday presents in the mail, and so, I decided to talk about one of them today. It’s fitting that the last review of 2022 is this dude, considering how we started 2022, and also considering what a dumpster fire the year turned out to be. Let’s end the year how we started it: looking at a creepy skull face. Now, let’s delve into “Masters of the Universe Origins 200X Skeletor” and see if he deserves a spot on your shelves.
Tumblr media
My first exposure to “Masters of the Universe” was as a kid in 2002 when Cartoon Network aired the rebooted series. I absolutely adored Skeletor. He was sinister, proudly evil, comedic, and also a legitimate threat. His own minions lived in fear of him and he rode around on a panther. Unlike the Filmation Skeletor, who I am also very fond of, he was funny without being a joke, and viewers knew this was someone to dread. In this series, we did see an origin for Skeletor. 16 years ago, Skeletor, then called Keldor, tried to conquer the world and found himself opposed by the man who would be He-Man’s father, Randor, leading the other heroes. In the final battle, he tried throwing a vial of acid at Randor, who deflected it into Keldor’s face. Yeah, that was a bit intense. Keldor fled and made a deal with the demonic sorcerer Hordak to be transformed into Skeletor, since acid to the face tends to be a bit deadly, and Keldor wanted to live longer than the next hour. He and his minions were sealed behind a mystic wall for 16 years, though they eventually escaped to do battle with He-Man and his band of do-gooders.

This Skeletor will be old enough to drink next year!
This figure’s really interesting to me, because it’s an Origins figure, meaning that it’s an updated design from the original line of figures in the 80’s, but it’s meant to emulate a figure from 2002, released in honor of the 40th anniversary of the “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” franchise. Skeletor does come out looking good, but if you know the 2002 figure, you can really see where the designers had to make compromises with the design to make it work with the Origins toys. On the upside, if you don’t know the 2002 figure, then you won’t notice this at all, since he’s just a straightforward Skeletor with no gimmicks. He looks exactly like how Skeletor should look, he has a very basic design, and he honestly works as a good first Skeletor figure for people looking to get into the Origins line.
Like all Origins figures, Skeletor has fantastic articulation. He’s very posable and fun to play with, and his chest piece and skirt, which are removable with some difficulty, don’t get in the way of his movements. Just know that they’re made of a softer plastic and can be bent out of shape if you’re not careful.
Tumblr media
Once sold out his entire team to see if he could hire actually competent staff.
Skeletor comes with two accessories: his magic Havoc Staff and his sword from the 2002 cartoon. The Havoc Staff is unchanged from every other Origins Skeletor, so not really much to say there. It’s a purple staff with a ram’s head, and it fits in Skeletor’s hand. His sword, meanwhile, both looks cool and is my one problem with the figure. The 2002 Skeletor’s sword could split in half into two swords, and in their combined form, they actually had two handles. Each side of the sword even looked different, to show kids that they were two swords stuck together. This Skeletor’s sword has the two handles, the different designs on each side of the sword, and even sculpted line down the middle of the blade like the combined sword from 2002 had. The issue is, though, this sword doesn’t split in two like the 2002 one. It looks cool and fits in Skeletor’s hand, but the fact it has all the signs of being two swords but isn’t bugs me. I can live with it, but it’s still something to note if you’re getting this toy.
Tumblr media
Dark plastic really does not photograph well. I mean, at all. Pretend you can see the detailing.
Other than my issue with the sword not being able to split, there is one other problem I have with this toy: there’s nowhere to store the sword. Most Origins figures don’t have a place to store accessories, so that shouldn’t be an issue, but my most recent Origins Skeletor is Battle Armor Skeletor, who has a place to store his sword, so I can’t help but be a little annoyed, especially since the 2002 figure did have a storage spot on his back.
Now for the moment of truth: would I recommend this figure? Absolutely. He’s a really solid Skeletor other than a few details that I admit are me nitpicking and comparing this figure to one from twenty years ago. He’s also only about $12-$18, depending on where you get him. I know that’s a wide range of prices. Toy prices have been kinda weird lately, and most stores with a toy aisle have He-Man stuff. But I would definitively recommend this toy for fans both young and old, and I for one really enjoy him. Also, it just hit me that I watched the show this guy’s from over 20 years ago. It’s seriously been over 20 years. I’m 31 tomorrow. Oh God, I’m old. Anyways, this is JS, signing off and wishing you Happy Toy Hunting!

Can you imagine 200x adoras grandfather meeting 200x Catra and she was the recantation of Mrio ex mistress (aka Keldor mother) imagine the how cool that would be
It would definitely be an interesting met up especially with Catra working for Hordak, arguably the biggest threat to Eternia in the 200x world(since Horde Prime doesn’t appear to be a thing)

Rare blue-skinned 2002 Hordak
...in the 2020 Master of the Multiverse #3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's an interesting coloring choice, as he was otherwise presented with gray skin in other media (meant to be stone in comics, due to Hordak's original body being destroyer, and he was in a body made of stone his skull, and metal armor). Though I wonder if it's not a mistake, but an intentional artistic choice. Possibly inspired by the 2002 He-Man series comic bible, were Hordak would be described as getting a cyborg body (described as semi artificial), specifically to his Filmation counterpart (that would have blue skin like his living self ?):

Entrapdak Positivity Month/Hordak week entry for "Dramatic", arranged by @maireadralph.
Younger Hordak from my longfic series, where he served as Horde Prime's ferocious second-in-command and rampaged through battlefields uncounted in his berserker rage. Inspiration from MOTU 200x and Hellsing Ultimate.

How did you get into MOTU? Have been into before you got into SPOP, or did you fall down the Entrapdak rabbit role? (*coy wink*)
My story with MOTU involves several things, including a complete amnesia of having even watched the classic show, and also falling for its remakes by reading spoilers.
With SPOP 2018...
I can totally say I feel for the ship, not the show. At first, at the beginning of 2020, I was lurking in tumblr affter long time avoiding the app, I saw them as trendding when everything I saw before was C*tradora. I was pretty much indiferent to C/a so I often did not care about the show, but then I saw a post in my feed about Entrapdak and I asked myself "what the hell?" because I had zero idea of their existence until that point.
It did not help it was the post about Hordak destroying Salineas, followed by the art made by @chickennoodldoodl (x) which *fueled* my imagination regarding what the hell was going on. Then I went to ask some people and their response was:
"Yeah you see, we are expecting the final season because the latest was raw as hell.. you see she is a Gremlin Princess obsessed over science who no one understand and everyone seen to use, and he is the Dark Lord trying to destroy/conquer every kingdom. he fell in love with her even when she is supposed to be his main enemy. She was betrayed and sent to die by his right hand, and he thought she left him for the Princesses, now he is heartbroken and angry, also there is a biggest Dark Lord coming"
Falling down the Entrapdak Rabbit Hole was kind of an euphenism from that moment if you ask me.
Now with MOTU...
This is actually a funny story, but I vibily remember playing with He-Man toys when I was like 4 years old, also briefly watching the Mike Young show (MOTU 200x) and even the 80s She-Ra in the same time period, I think the first was due to me lurking through FoxKids when I was 8 years old and I wanted to watch Gargoyles.
But I remembered nothing of this until very recently, when MOTU: Revelation was announced! I went to watch 200x via Youtube and I kind of remember certain scenes and characters? like I had seen that same desing in a past life.
Also with She-Ra, I have no idea if I watched the show but I remember having seen her transformation, same with He-Man, during the same period I was in preschool. But everything is very blurry!
