Let's Play a Game!
You've probably noticed that at the beginning of each chapter of Vérzavar Ház I include an excerpt from House of Sky and Breath that I feel fits well with the chapter content.
Today I thought it would be fun to tease you with these excerpts for this week. Can you guess what's going to happen based on these????
Chapter 21: Lids
“Next time, I’ll bring us some psychic beers and a TV. We’ll get you normal again.”
She laughed, the sound like clear bells. Something male and primal in him sat up at the sound. “I’ve only ever had wine.”
He shook his head in mock horror. “Come visit me in Lunathion sometime, day. I’ll show you a good time.”
House of Sky and Breath, pg. 385
Chapter 22: I'll Take Care of You
He dipped his head, kissing her neck, breathing in the subtle scent of her. His cock instantly hardened. Fuck yes. This scent, this female–
A sense of rightness settled into his bones like a stone dropped in a pond. Her hand began stroking up his spine again. His balls tightened with each trailing caress.
Then her mouth was on his pec, flaming lips grazing over the swirling tattoo there. The pierced nipple on his left pec.
-House of Sky and Breath, pg. 724
Chapter 23: Help Me Forget
Ruhn Danaan knew three things with absolute certainty:
He had smoked so much mirthroot that he couldn’t feel his face. Which was a damn shame, because there was a female currently sitting on it.
He had downed an obscene amount of whiskey, because he had no idea what the female’s name was, or how they’d gotten to his bedroom, or how he’d wound up with his tongue between her legs.
He really fucking loved his life. At least… right now.
-House of Sky and Breath, pg. 54
Chapter 24: Too Late
Ruhn reached for her hand. Took the flames within his own. They parted enough for him to see her slim, fiery fingers as he stroked his thumb over them. “My mind found yours in the darkness. Across an ocean. No fancy crystal required. You think that’s nothing?”
He glimpsed enough of her eyes to see that they were closed. Her head bowed. “I can’t.”
-House of Sky and Breath, pg. 723
Chapter 25: Fix You
She laughed, harsh and hollow. “No. My fate is bound to his.”
“Your fate is bound to mine.” The words echoed into the darkness.
-House of Sky and Breath, pg. 723
Looking forward to another great week! Thank you all for reading!!!

HOSAB SPOILERS!!!
So we know that SJM herself said that CC3 will set up the next acotar book.
I think it’s clear with the events of CC3, it’s going to have an impact on the next acotar book, it just makes sense. & I think that the events of acotar 5 will take place after the events of CC3. And we know it’s going to be a time jump from acosf to CC3, but Im not sure we know the exact timeline.
We know that with CC3, it picks up like almost right after CC2 and SJM has changed her stance on whether or not you should read acotar when it comes the CC series and she now has said yes, you will want to read acotar before CC. And if she’s saying that about CC then she might want readers to read CC before the next acotar book as well. Could be wrong tho, but we’ll see once we read HOFAS.
And I think that it’s clear that SJM wrote CC & acosf around the same time. She uses the same wording in certain parts of both stories and I think acosf directly connects to CC the most out of all her books so far.
With this recent teaser we see once again, Nesta and Azriel are being pushed in front when it comes to the acotar characters in CC3, especially since we’ve seen that Nesta and Azriel are a part of a bonus chapter with Bryce. But if you read acosf, I think it just makes sense why Nesta and Azriel are in the forefront. A lot of people keep freaking out about Cassian, saying where is he. He’s probably around but just not with Bryce, Nesta, and Azriel. That doesn’t mean any thing bad has happen to him.
It’s just that Nesta & Azriel’s plotlines are directly connected to CC already, more than Cassian. More than any other acotar characters in my opinion.
Nesta’s story arc is the one that really connects acotar to CC. We heard about the daglan from Rhys in acosf and SJM confirmed that the daglan and the asteri are one in the same.
In acosf Nesta went against a daglan/asteri, Lanthys, in the prison and killed him with her death sword. We also know that the sword gwydion in acotar is the starsword Bryce now has, which was dipped into the cauldron so I also think it’s considered a death sword since that’s where nesta got her power from.
We know that Nesta still has death magic in her. So I wonder if she can still create death swords to help Bryce in some way. Or maybe what if the asteri/daglan can be killed by death magic and that Bryce uses trove since they were cauldron made too and they are also death magic?
Also, the 8 pointed star. When Nesta & Cassian made a bargain, it appeared as a 8 pointed star on their bodies. The harp in the prison sat on top of a 8 pointed star when nesta went to go retrieve it. Bryce has a 8 pointed star on her chest. We got more about the star in CC2 but I think SJM will tell us more about it in HOFAS as well. But this is what Rigelus said about the star:
That star on your chest—do you know what it is?” “Lets assume I know nothing.” Bryce said grimly. Rigelus inclined his head. “It’s a beacon to the world from which the Fae originally came. It sometimes glows when nearest the Fae who have undiluted bloodlines from that world. Prince Cormac, for example.” “It glowed for hunt,” Bryce shot back. “It also glows for those who you choose as your loyal companions. Knights.” “So what?”Bryce demanded. So that star will lead us back to that world. Through you. They overthrew our brethren who once ruled there—we have not forgotten. Our initial attempt at revenge was foiled by your ancestor who also bore that star on her chest. The Fae have still not atoned for the deaths of our brothers and sisters. Their home world was rich in magic. I crave more of it.”
We see that Bryce’s bloodline hails from prythian. And the fae are originally from there. And the asteri want to use Bryce to get back to prythian. Rigelus is also speaking on the war that went on when Enalius, the Illyrian in acotar who fought against the daglan to protect that black stone on top of ramiel. The asteri wants to go back to Prythian to slay the illryians and the fae.
I personally believe that Bryce, Nesta & Azriel are in the prison in the teaser. I could be wrong because obviously illryia can come into play because the Asteri/daglan wanted to get to that black stone so bad during the war for some reason. But here’s why I think they’re going to the prison:
“Danika realized that the shifters are Fae.” Bryce blinked. “What?” “Not your kind of Fae, of course—your breed dwelled in a lovely, verdant land, rich with magic. If it’s of any interest to you, your starborn bloodline specifically hailed from a small isle a few miles from the mainland. And while the mainland had all manner of climes, the isle existed in beautiful, near permanent twilight.” (CC2, 762)
Rigelus is talking about the prison isle. It’s an isle away from the mainland of the night court. We know that the prison isle was there before high lords existed. And we learned that the daglan/asteri were in control before the high lords became a thing until they were slayed by both the fae and illryians. I’m pretty sure Bryce would want to go there to get some answers.
“You are Starborn, and have the Horn bound your body and power. Your ancestors wielded the Horn and another fae object that allowed them to enter this world. Stolen, of course, from their original masters—our people. Our people, who built fearsome warriors in that world to be their army. All of them prototypes for the angels in this one. And all of them traitors to their creators, joining the Fae to overthrow my brothers and sisters. A 1000 years before we arrived on Midgard. They slew my siblings.” (CC2, page 761)
So I wonder if the other fae object is the harp that helped them into this world. We’ve seen that it has many strings and can open doors to places. It makes sense for the harp to be used for them to get into the CC universe. And I of course think that Bryce’s horn is the fourth dread trove. And we see here that rigelus says that they created fearsome warriors that were prototypes for the angels in CC, who are fearsome warriors that already have wings in acotar? The illryians.
Now with Azriel, we know that truth teller is the twin knife to Bryce’s sword. Just for that alone he’s connected to CC. I now believe that Azriel would permanently give Bryce the knife. I just don’t see any acotar characters leaving prythian to go to Bryce’s world. They would literally be out of their element and the knife completes the prophecy in Bryce’s world.
Especially when at one point SJM said HOFAS was split in between prthyian and CC (and I know that could be subjected to change) and I don’t think the acotar characters need to take up many more page time in this story with so many open plot points from the other 2 CC novels that need to be solved.
But anyway, Azriel is an Illyrian. Rigelus (the asteri) himself stated that he and the other asteri bred fae & the demons from Hel in CC to make the illryians. We see that the demons in Hel had leathery wings and so does Apollion, the 7th prince of Hel and that’s why Bryce thought she was in hell when she saw Azriel because of his leathery wings.
We see that the illryians were the prototypes for the angels in CC. And that the asteri want to go back to Midgard and pretty much slay the illryians because they turned against the daglan/asteri in the war and aligned with the fae to take the daglan/asteri down. And the daglan/asteri were trying to get to the top of ramiel for that black stone, which is sacred to the illryians.
The illryians & Illyria are obviously a plot point for CC & could be for the next acotar book. The asteri literally created them. I might be wrong, but I could have sworn I saw some where that SJM pushed back the illryian storyline in regards for Azriel’s story, I could be wrong, but it’s clear that is in unrest in illryia with what happen with the war in acowar and how they’re not happy. Then Cassian and Azriel having illryians come and watch the valkryies in the blood rite qualifier and we know how they feel about women being warriors, and then the valkryies being thrown into the blood rite, the illryians aren’t going to be too happy and I can see a rebellion happening with them.
And if CC3 sets up the next acotar book then to me it’s just seem more likely that’s its Azriel’s, especially since he’s literally going to be in it with nesta, helping Bryce.

For the Elucien Fans
Who really want an Elucien book
Every time anything is released, this fandom goes wild.
SJM wears a Bambi sweater? Elain's book is next!
Az gets a Bonus in SF and CC? Az's book is next! (Even though both the SF bonus chapters revolved around Elain, even though Tharion had a bonus but people still theorize Ruhn and Lidia's romance will be the main romance in CC4, even though Lucien had his own POV in the actual ACOTAR series yet people still think Az will have a book before him).
SJM places the copy of HOSAB on top of a book about flowers? Elain's book is next!
A HOFAS teaser is revealed and it has both Nesta and Az? Az's book is next because she's drawing our attention to him!
But CC is not the ACOTAR series and SJM at one point drew our attention to the Elucien setup in ACOWAR, made a big part of the first third of the book about Lucien trying to get to Elain and the second third about him helping her through her depression yet some still think Az will get his book before them.
In an IG Live, SJM said when you get to the end of Silver Flames, you'll know whose book is next. Not when you get to the Az Bonus Chapter, not when you read CC3. When you get to the last book in the ACOTAR series.
Yes, she she said she's excited to write Az's journey but a side characters journey starts well before they have a book in her world (i.e., Chaol's journey started in book 1 of the TOG series, Cassian's journey with Nesta began from the moment they met in ACOMAF, Lucien's journey has been ongoing since ACOTAR. etc).
Crescent City isn't the ACOTAR series. They don't market it as such, there's no reading guide that tells you the order you need to read ACOTAR and CC books in for them to make sense.
Yes, she did say CC will set up future ACOTAR books but, we have no idea which "future" books she's referring to as she's often talked about not knowing if she'll be able to stop after the remaining spin-offs she's contracted for. I could be wrong but I'm almost positive she didn't say it will set up for the very next ACOTAR book after SF. She once said her initial plan for the spin-offs hadn't changed so she could be telling us that her plan for Elain and Nesta's story remained the same and CC3 now opens doors for what happens after she closes out the main story of the Archeron sisters. She could be telling us that once the threats on their world are resolved, then there will be a new threat introduced (that new threat dealing with those outside their world). And Az being a focus of CC3 could simply mean that when it is time for his story, that's the direction it will be headed but it doesn't mean she's ready to tell his story before she closes out Elucien's story and the issues with Koschei, Beron, Spring, etc. At the end of the day, CC3 is still Bryce's book and I don't imagine it will heavily set up for Az's even if hints are dropped. Just like hints have been dropped for both Elain and Lucien's journeys way back when.
We kind of knew that with Bryce arriving in Prythian and the Asteri (in CC2) saying they've trying to find their way back to the planet their brothers and sisters were living on in order to get revenge it already set up future ACOTAR books. And that was directly addressed in SJMs Live HOSAB spoiler interview. She said that yes, now the ACOTAR characters will be concerned that if Bryce can find her way into their world that means others might be able to as well.
But that doesn't mean SJM is going to end CC3 and start ACOTAR 5 after Bryce's arrival and departure from Prythian. That wouldn't make any sense, not when you consider how SF left off.
I hate this fact about myself but I am probably a good bit older than most in this fandom. Sometimes I feel a bit embarrassed as I realize it seems an odd hobby to have when I'm probably not in SJMs target age range but what that does mean is I know a few people who have never read the Crescent City series and don't plan to. I know those closer to my age who don't follow SJMs Instagram or follow posts on TikTok or join groups in FB. The majority of the fandom is younger and many do engage in online groups, her IG, etc but there are some outside that target age group (and maybe even some within it) who read ACOTAR and that's that. My oldest child's friends father is an ER doctor and he's read the ACOTAR series but hasn't dug any futher into the Maas Universe as he waits for the next one to be released.
He knows nothing of Bryce. He knows nothing of the Az bonus from SF or the Az / Nesta bonus that's going to be released with CC3 or Az's part in CC3. All he knows is that Nesta's story ended and the remaining plot related questions we were left with were "what about the peace treaty?" "What about Beron allying with Koschei?" "What about Spring and Tamlin?" Even the Illyrians weren't much of a focus at the end of SF because Gwyn and Emerie were laughing about it saying they'll be angry for decades and Cassian said they wouldn't be ready for battle training for many years. He has no idea that Az and Gwyn had the hints of a mating bond introduced in the bonus, has no idea that Elain and Az almost kissed (he thinks she's ending up with Lucien though). Literally, the end of SF has Eris saying the things they need to be worrying about are Beron, Koschei and the treaty.
So imagine if he picked up the next ACOTAR book and it was talking about a traveler from another world having landed in Prythian with the focus being on Az and TT and whatever was discovered in CC3. He would be completely confused.
Also, there was a sense of urgency surrounding Koschei, Spring, Beron, and Vassa in SF. CC3 picks up 6-9 months after that. If an Az book were to take place 10 months to over a year after SF then does it seem realistic that they've just stopped worrying about Koschei? That they no longer are worried about Vassa being taken back or the fact that they said they needed Springs forces to be ready yet have done nothing about it? That the bad guys have just been casually waiting around in the background putting their evil plans on hold so SJM can first address time travel and the Illyrian plots?
To me, it still makes more sense that that SJM would begin the next ACOTAR book shortly after SF, resolving the major issues that were left open ended, then segue into the events of CC3 which would lead us into ACOTAR 6 and anything related to time travel and others worlds.
It makes less sense that she would have introduced the Vassa and the destruction of Spring storylines in ACOWAR, the Elucien bond in ACOMAF, remind us of how they are still issues in ACOFAS and ACOSF ("tell my Vassa I'm waiitng", "You've been trying to bring Tamlin back for awhile but he's barely improved", "We need a strong ally, we need the Spring Courts forces") then delay them yet again in order to first move on to a plot that, while very subtly hinted at in SF, is really being introduced in an entirely different series.
At some point, doesn't it start to feel just slightly ridiculous to keep pushing Tamlins arc and Spring to the side? Vassa's arc to the side? The Elucien bond to the side? Lucien's father reveal to the side?
I could definitely be wrong, I own that. However, I do think there's some logic in what I'm saying and that could mean that Az playing a major part in CC3 still doesn't guarantee him the next ACOTAR book the way some are claiming. All it guarantees is that at some point, the information introduced for his storyline will eventually be addressed. If SJM introduced Lucien and Elain's storylines way back in book 2 yet still haven't resolved them 2.5 books later then there's nothing preventing her from the doing the same with Az, introducing his storylines but not resolving them until a book or two later.

Ok so I have been a bit inactive lately, and that’s because I have been keeping away from social media until after the release of HOFAS because I know that this fandom can get wild coming up to a new release. And I was right.
The entire book got leaked (I think it was an accident), but people are now deciding to go above and beyond to spoil the book for everyone else before the release day. If you like spoilers, that’s fair enough. But going around and spoiling the book for everyone else who has been waiting 2 years for this book is just ridiculous.
I remember being spoiled for hosab because the person who leaked it saw the words “bread” and “roses” and just automatically assumed that it was confirmation of their favourite ship. And I think that’s a lesson for everyone. Regardless of what happens in hofas with the acotar characters, it is still a CC book. We can assume and theorise for future acotar books, but knowing Sarah, we won’t have full confirmation until the next acotar book is out, regardless of what we see between Acotar characters in hofas.
So idc what happens with the acotar characters in hofas. Idc what ship gets confirmed, if they get confirmed, it’s still a CC book so it shouldn’t matter. This ship war is getting so ridiculous to the point where if you’re not involved in the ship war, you’re still suffering from it. We must remember that there are Crescent City fans who aren’t involved in the Acotar fandom because CC is what they read first, and all of these spoilers and the behaviour of the Acotar fandom surrounding the release hosab and hofas, is making it a bad experience for them too!!!!
Now good thing I didn’t get spoiled for hofas so you won’t be getting any spoilers from me or on my page. It’s a spoiler free space!!!!
(Also, if you commented on Sarah’s HOFAS teaser on instagram, get off instagram now because people are replying to comments on that post with CC3 spoilers. That’s how I found out about the spoilers. My friend who commented on that post got spoiled, and as you can imagine, she’s really upset. So be very careful!!!)

So, the fandom seems to be disengaging quite a bit. Marketing backfire? I along with so many others are tired. This is a good reminder on why starting an unfinished series can be disappointing and painful
I think people are tired of the pull and push. It's been years now, going on to 2 years without any news about the next book. HOSAB doesn't interest people as much. Yes, HOSAB came out this year, but I don't think people remember much of it. Or didn't bother with it.
I think everyone is just tied. Tired of these shitty interviews. Tired of the back and forth. Tired of lack of previews, answers, teaser. Just. Tired.

So my fellow Elriels please bear with me for this one
I frequently look at SJM Instagram account and more specifically the comments to see what’s happening in the fandom ( looking at likes and most popular comments) it’s annoying for the most part.
But I have been going back to this one post
Tumblr media
In the comments section there WAS way more pro-gw/nriel post/comments, but NOW those pro-gw/nriel posts/comments are mostly deleted ( specifically the ones with lots of likes)
The only post/comment left is from an amazing Elriel account, Azriel_elain, now. That post is not about Elriel but from a clear elriel account. It has the most likes.
Tbh most of the shipping posts look like they have been removed.
Also this post was this FIRST teaser for HOSAB.
I am fully aware I am reaching and that the administrator of the account probably deleted “shipping” posts.

I was scrolling through Sarah's ig and noticed that on days previous to release she promoted the hell out of hosab, but that doesn't seem to be the case so far with this book? Do you think we'll get more teasers in the coming days? We know she ain't too worried about spoilers lol
I don't think she promoted it very heavily, tbh. I think they did a few teasers, she did an interview after the book was released. I think last time around we were complaining about it too--lack of engagement. But I think there was less excitement too, since there wasn't a crossover (or at least no one knew about it).
There might be maybe one more teaser? But I don't think she'll do much more than that up front.
I imagine the ending of HOSAB will be bombastic as well. I have some ideas about it, but I imagine SJM will do the bare minimum so that once it hits, it REALLY hits.

not me over here getting ready to start writing my post CC1 canon divergent AU fanfic, because HoSaB scares the hell out of me and I can’t read it until my friend has her copy anyway. So we’ve both been indulging in gratuitous world building and RP of our imaginings. (So I live in limbo like I don’t already own the book. It has yet to be released for me. I don’t know what you all are talking about. So you can have my canon divergent AU fics and enjoy those while I pretend I don’t have HoSaB collecting dust on my bookshelf.) They will feature Quinlar being absolutely happy. Bryce offering a plethora of fuck yous to her father and his bullshit. Bryce and Ruhn being sibling goals. Bryce and Hunt having a daughter who makes them both very very happy. Ruhn x OC content that rocks my damned socks. And the world not falling to shit until after they’ve had 27-ish years of relative peace. Comes complete with all the soft shit this fandom is NOT known for, with a good dose of the angst it is. All triggers will be tagged as necessary. Be looking for Teasers. <3
