Reincarnation is kind of a mixed bag overall, but although it took some time to get used to it the voice actors are all really good. Suwabe is really amazing as Jacopo tbh. I’d even say it’s one of his best roles (I’d kill to hear him voice the entirety of Requiem). (Also Yui Horie voiced Maria Umineko too, which is kinda funny. And Mell’s VA is the same one as Keiichi Higurashi)

All of them are really good actors so I have no doubt they all did an excellent job... for me with Suwabe, it’s really more that he’s just so far away from what I imagine Jacopo’s voice to be like when I read his dialogue? But that definitely makes me all the more interested to hear for myself, especially since it’s been a while since I’ve heard him in a really truly dramatic and emotional role, and yeah, with that in mind I’d love to see him voice all of Requiem because it’s very heavy on that.

(Oh yeah, I forgot she’s Umineko Maria too! I was actually surprised when I looked her up and saw her huge list of roles over the years.... It makes a lot more sense to cast her knowing now that she must be pretty versatile and apparently a full on veteran seiyuu.. And I totally remember Soichirou Hoshi as Goro Akechi first and foremost so I forgot he’s also Keiichi... so many different connections... )

Character Voices & Speech

Some time ago, I saw a character voice meme which inspired me, but I decided to go for freeform descriptions instead of doing it four times for my more important characters. Hopefully this is both interesting and amusing to read!

Marika is originally from Lordaeron, and a hint of the accent still remains in her voice. Her speech tends to be fairly casual with colloquial expressions although she avoids crude language and seldom swears. She has a mid-range, lively voice, and when she gets excited or irritated, she tends to speak faster and with a with a slightly higher pitch.

Robyn Addison could be her English voice, and she seems to have the kind of lively tone as Sera in Dragon Age: Inquisition which I imagine Marika to have. As her Japanese voice, I can’t help but think of Megumi Hayashibara, especially as Lina Inverse in Slayers, because Lina was one of the inspirations for Marika.

Merces speaks like a foreigner who has learned the language but solely from books: his speech bears little traceable accent, and his mid-low range voice tends to be calm - almost to the point of monotony. He also tends to very formal, using honorifics unless told not to, and conveys uncertainty or similar emotions mostly by keeping emphatic pauses (e.g. “It was... interesting.”)

Matthew Mercer was originally a joke suggestion from a friend, but I discovered that his tone actually reminds me quite a bit of Merces, especially with characters like Chrom in Fire Emblem: Awakening. Hiroyuki Yoshino as Allelujah Haptism in Gundam 00 is my choice for Merces’s Japanese “voice claim”, once again partly because Allelujah reminds me of him.

Aenor tends to speak with a quiet and soft voice, and it may have a slightly melodic tone to it. His vocabulary is usually quite refined and he uses honorifics with most people, but he uses a lot of filler words like ‘um’ or ‘ah’, especially if he is embarrassed or surprised.

Yuri Lowenthal's voice has the kind of softness and emotion that I associate with Aenor, especially in his role as Cecil Harvey in Final Fantasy IV. The same can be said about Hoshi Soichirou as Eisen in Harukanaru Toki no Naka de, whose way of speaking (with the polite terms and occasional stutter) also fits him.

Viridiel's voice reflects his somewhat rowdy and hot-tempered personality. His speech isn’t usually very eloquent and he swears semi-frequently, and his pitch and tempo can vary quite a bit according to his mood: from the low muttering when he is thinking to the high-pitched and sharp barking when he is angry. He also tends to be snarky, and it shows.

Troy Baker is a man of many voices, and his role as Hawkeye in Avengers Assemble is almost a perfect example of how I imagine Viridiel to sound like. A slightly(?) alternative take in Japanese would be Takahiro Sakurai as Haseo in .hack//Roots, who is good at displaying a variety of emotions with his voice like Viridiel.

Prince of Tennis Seiyuu Comments about upcoming TeniFesta 2013 (part 4)

LAST PART! :D Anyway, Biwa Lake performance is today (JP time)! Are you ready? :D Taiten (Sanada) said he would eat a lot to have a lot of power. I wonder how he will look ww XD

31. Hoshi Soichirou (Mukahi Gakuto) – Happy~! Long time no see! It was decided that I’ll perform at TeniFesta, I’m doki doki from now! (End of May) The performance is still far, but we have to start preperations in advance! Just what kind of show it will be this time….I don’t know though (laughs) Look forward to it!

32. Sueyoshi Kazuya (Chinen Hiroshi) – Yeah, everyone good day! This is Sueyoshi Kazuya, role of Okinawan Chinen Hiroshi from Higa Chuu! Not only for one time, but for second time we’ll be able to make a big uproar with everyone in that Budoukan again and we’ll do it at Biwa Hall too, right! It’s so cool! (italic things were in Okinawan)

33. Oosuka Jun (Chitose Senri) – TeniFesta! 2013 ! Biwa Hall & Budoukan ! The thing is that today that I turned older (written Mai 24, his birthday)… and the difference between me and Chitose-kun is 20 years! But from now I’ll challenge myself to be 20 years younger. Like that “Don don ikubai!” feeling ♪

34. Tsuda Eisuke (Yagyuu Hiroshi) – Your heart’s gentleman, it’s Yagyuu Hiroshi here. I was looking forward eagerly to meet with you all. That’s Hiroshi’s deep wish. Look forward to the very day. Adieu. Ah, speaking of this, as always, we’ll go crazy. That’s my resolution.

35. Takemoto Eiji (Yanagi Renji) – Before we jump to Tokyo, we’ll go to Biwa Lake? Why? Where will be our base? Even without much thinking I can solve this ♪ Well, because personally said I like Lake Biwa (because of past experience). Look forward, okay! Ah, but we’re doing this in Tokyo too? Wherever it is, let’s enjoy it together!

36. Namikawa Daisuke (Ootori Choutarou) – Good evening. This is Namikawa Daisuke, role of Ootori Choutarou. We will fight as one, lead by Atobe. I’m relieve since Shishido-san will be there too. Let’s enjoy this together! Ikkyuu nyuu kon!

37. Kaida Yuki (Fuji Shuusuke) – To be honest, right now, I’m just nervous, full of expectations, anxious and anxious. But! This time, at the venue, with teams from whole country and TeniPuri fans, our hearts will be like one “If there are more Festas, I’ll go there!” Please treat me well!
