Servamp headcanons, ice cream edition! Because my grandma got an ice cream maker and we’re all super eager to try it out but then she broke her back (she’s fine, don’t worry)
Mahiru: plain old vanilla. Misono introduced him to vanilla BEAN ice cream though and he’s feeling a little guilty about wanting to splurge a bit for the more expensive, creamier stuff… Kuro is an enabler and his encouragement is the only reason he’s still managing to resist. Just do it Mahi!
Kuro: Cookies and Cream is his favorite, but he’s also partial to cookie dough, or crumbled chocolate mint cookies as topping. He likes both the taste and the texture
Misono: chocolate lol. He’s predictable. His absolute favorite though are those ultra decadent brownie batter type of chocolate ice creams. Yknow the ones. Chocolate pieces, brownie bits, hot fudge swirl… He gets sick off the stuff easily though, so even though he loves it, self control is everything
Lily: vanilla bean with strawberry topping and cheese cake bites! He loves fresh strawberries in his desserts, and often he and Misono will trade bites if they’re getting flavor fatigue. Also very rich but the strawberry helps cuts through the sweetness
Tetsu: a Basic Boi who loves GariGariKun the most. Prefers popsicles over dairy treats. Yeah technically this isn’t ice cream but like. It’s the taste of summer and after bath refreshments. I’m not taking that from him
Hugh: vanilla with hot fudge sauce (and/or blood). He still prefers his chocolate parfaits, or better yet for this scenario, a milkshake
Licht: yknow those ultra sweet cotton candy flavors? If it’s ice cream by itself, he loves that. But if it’s a float, it’s gotta be vanilla in melon soda. If you take him to marble slab or similar place that lets you mix in a bunch of toppings, he will make a beeline for the gummy bears. Gets disappointed every time that they turn hard and unpleasant to eat, even though he already knows the outcome
Lawless: he has two favorites. Coffee bean (distinct from just plain coffee flavor) and moose tracks. I’m not sure what that’s called in other places? Basically it’s vanilla with peanut butter cups and fudge. Only goes for this when he’s depressed, if I’m honest. Otherwise it’s too sweet.
Mikuni: haagen daz amaretto almond crunch and their hojicha latte flavor. Forever sad that the former was limited edition and doesn’t make seasonal returns. It was absolutely perfect for his and jeje’s terrible Netflix movie nights (with the occasional appearance by johannes so they could make fun of the bad science together)
Jeje: since Mikuni only buys haagen daz (spoiled pretentious shit) he’s grateful they a rich pumpkin flavor that becomes available during autumn. He also really likes horchata milkshakes for the comforting taste of cinnamon.
Iduna: Tried butter pecan once and was hooked. The crunchiness of the pecans is her favorite part. It’s her go to for when Haagen Daz Creamy Vanilla Pudding flavor isn’t in season. Back home, though, it’s got to be the rather… Unique. Salty licorice flavor. She gave some to shuuhei one time just to watch him gag. She knows what she’s doing to that poor boy.
Freya: the simple freshness of strawberry ice cream is her guilty pleasure. She been thinking of making her own with an old hand churner. It would be fun, right? And it’s not like it would be difficult to get the ingredients she needs.
Nicco: Pistachio gelato, though he also enjoys the tartness and slight bitter aftertaste of limoncello flavor. He likes taking Ildio with him whenever there’s a new flavor he wants to try but isn’t sure he’ll like. Even if he doesn’t care for it, his servamp probably will. Does that make him mean?
Ildio: No preference as of yet. He’s still figuring this whole… Tasting your food thing out
Tsubaki: as expected, he loves matcha and red bean flavors. REALLY excited some of the Hagen daz hanamochi series is becoming a permanent flavor
Sakuya: rocky road. Sweet, crunchy, and a little bitter on the back end from the chocolate. Refuses to admit it but he also enjoys the hanamochi series. He’s stubborn. Whenever he wins a free popsicle he gives the stick to Mahiru, so inevitably when they hang out, that’s what he buys if they stop at the konbini, just for the chance to maybe earn some good boy points with his best friend and crush. And he thinks he’s subtle—

Confusion's Octopath Traveler 2 Headcanons Masterlist that I'm getting out into the world a day before the game's release right before the canon makes it impossible for them to happen
Agnea is insanely good at handstands. Partitio, half drunk, once asked her to do a handstand on a chair, which she did, and then proceeded to shock the rest of the group by removing one hand from the chair and slowly placing it behind her back. Everyone was freaking out
Osvald doodles in his books. They're usually little faces of his deceased wife and daughter (followed by the words "I love you" or "I miss you very much"), but there are sometimes messy doodles of flowers and even some of the other travelers. The other travelers once found one of the books with these drawings in it. Osvald had forgotten to draw Paritio's hat in one doodle, and the group promptly mistook him for Temenos
Throné sings lullabies when she can't fall asleep. She sings very sweetly, but she has threatened all who have heard her sing out of embarrassment. Her audiences are usually herself or the occasional stray animal she finds out on the streets
Hikari loves birds. The birds also love him back. He once tried to feed a few and ended up attracting an entire flock, resulting on him being covered in birds and feathers, which made it extremely difficult to walk around
Temenos Does Not swear in front of kids. The other travelers found out when he stubbed his toe in a room full of children. After it happened, he simply stared at the ground before shouting "FUDGE" very loudly, sending the other travelers into a fit of laughter
Ochette doesn't eat chocolate. No one knows why. It could be because of her canine features. It could simply be because she doesn't like it. When asked, Ochette simply shrugs and responds that she doesn't know either
Castti has Everything in her apothecary satchel. Everything. People think the "take out all your weapons. *watches them take out one weapon* all of them *watches them take out the rest of their weapons*" person is Throné or Ochette. Wrong. It's Castti. No one has ever questioned her about the blade sharpening rock in her satchel. No one knows how Castti can lug the small but heavy rock in her satchel all day. No one truly knows how much her satchel can hold. No one will ever know.
The other travelers once made a joke about Partitio's last name. Once when they were traveling in the Winterlands, they saw him wearing a purple scarf, and they proceeded to call him Partitio Purplewil for the rest of the day
Ochette has a special whistling pattern when she calls for each of her creature companions. Over time, she also made one for each of the other travelers. Now, whenever each of the travelers hears their specific whistling pattern, they'll know what Ochette is calling for them. This is especially great if people get lost in a crowd. Unfortunately, no one has made a whistle pattern for Ochette yet
Castti bakes a lot. Due to her experience with her concoctions, she knows how the chemical compounds work and can make all sorts of fancy desserts. Whenever Ochette makes something, Castti is quick to follow up with a small cake or pudding. She also makes really good hot chocolate
Throné likes to have quiet tea sessions with her fellow travelers. She used to do it with a few friends during breaks as she found it relaxing. Now, she can quietly sip on her tea and engage in conversations with the other travelers. From time to time, she enjoys these sessions on her own. Those sessions are her do not disturb times. If anyone does disturb her, Throné will be very sure that there will be consequences
Osvald memorises at least one sentence of every book he's ever used for his research. It's not necessarily the first or last sentence, it's just any random sentence in the book. Once, one of the travelers was reading a book out loud. Osvald, upon recognising a sentence, asked "is that 'A History of the Winterlands'?" without even looking up from his current read. From that moment onwards, no one dared to question his memory again
Partitio likes stargazing. In his younger days, he used to stay up to stare at the stars in the sky until his parents told him to go to bed. To this day, it's a small hobby that he continues to do when he's finished with a long day of work, or when he can't fall asleep. He can recognise some of the stars, and constantly points them out to the other travelers
Agnea is really good at tying and untying knots. The knots she makes are always secure, and no matter how impossible it seems to untie a knot, Agnea can always get it undone. At first, no one knew why this was the case, or how she managed to learn this skill. The answer soon became clear when the travelers found her trying to untie a knot in one of the ribbons she used to tie her hair
Temenos sleeps with one eye open at all times. No one knows why. They all found out one morning when they found Temenos sitting asleep at a table with one eye open. They started a conversation thinking he was awake the whole time until he actually woke up and proceeded to scare the living hell out of all of them. Someone once asked him if he could see in his sleep. Temenos' answer to that question was simply to shrug and to walk away
Hikari likes folding origami cranes. It was something he used to do a lot as a child to pass the time. Now, whenever he's bored and has a piece of paper in front of him, he starts absentmindedly folding the little paper cranes and handing them to the nearest traveler. Each traveler has at least 20 of these

Shanks had to do some shady shit with big mom and she invited them for a tea party or something. She must have been craving chocolate or something because everything was chocolate mean chocolate cake, chocolate ice cream, chocolate fudge brownies anything and everything was chocolate including silverware and even the cups or chocolate.
She notices him not eating anything or at least picking at it and confronts him. Yasopp admits he doesn't like chocolate never had a taste for it and thinks it's gross. She insist that he tries it because you've never tried chocolate made like her (insert kid here. maybe pudding's chocolate idk). They make the best chocolate, he tastes it and is immediately disgusted. He tries to lie and say that he likes it but then gets caught spitting it out in a napkin offending the fuck big mom.
After some back and forth and some threats shanks tried to come everything down by trying to make a compromise that instead of chocolate he gets caramel. Unfortunately the answer was NO!! if she wanted everyone to have caramel she would have served caramel He's going to eat the fucking chocolate or everyone is getting killed (which sucks because roux was having the time of his life eating a chocolate table) those are his only options. So yeah, in short this grown man was force fed chocolate. They were later chased off the island when he ended up puking behind a bush (that bush might have been sentient💀). He's hated it ever since just looking at chocolate makes him sick and also angry. The red hair pirates and Big Mom are now enemies because yasopp didn't like her chocolate that's one of the biggest offense there is to big mom
Another story is that during usopp's first birthday on the ship Sanji made him a dark chocolate lava cake with powdered sugar and vanilla ice cream with hot fudge on top. He ate it anyway and said nothing about not liking chocolate. Sanji found out of his distaste for chocolate when usopp backed away from him, Nami and Luffy. All three of them still smelled like chocolate when they made it to wano.
Sanji still thinks about that one birthday at night and it just eats them up inside. Like why didn't he say anything? He could have made him something different If he didn't like chocolate. why did he eat it it's not like it would have gone to waste with that human vacuum we call a captain on board. Why did he do that? He did that just for me??? why??? it was his day! He shouldn't have been forced to do that!!! . Did I force him??? FUCK! Did he feel pressured to eat it? Am I a bad boyfriend? Hop: Hops favorite treats are the butterscotch oatmeal cookies. He doesn't admit they are his favorite but he always buys them when he stops by the bakery. Steve always makes sure to bring a box when he visits the Hopper-Byers household.
Joyce: Joyce always gets some snickerdoodles and a cup of hot chocolate at the cafe/bakery but she also loves when Steve makes a 7UP Pound Cake for any get togethers they have. The snickerdoodles are also in the box of cookies that he takes to the Hopper-Byers household anytime he visits.
Claudia: Claudia LOVES getting a slice of Steve's coconut custard pie. It's not one of the most popular pies in the cafe but Claudia always makes sure to get there early to get a slice or two. She has a weakness for his Chocolate Chip Cream Cheese Bars and he makes sure to bring her some when he visits or picks up Dustin.
Wayne: Wayne will not, not ever, admit he has a sweet tooth, but he is one of Steve's regular and best customer's. He particularly likes anything with pineapple so he always gets a slice of the Skillet Upside-down Pineapple Cake and the Creamy Pineapple Pie. He also loves the finger buns and maybe he calls Eddie if he's on a tour or working on songs in the studio, if the boy is home he will drive over there to tell Eddie to date Steve. Eddie brought Wayne a full cake Steve had made when he had mentioned to Steve that he was going to see his uncle for dinner and Steve asked if they had dessert, they did not and Steve just so happened to have more than half of the pineapple upside-down cake left over before he closed and just gave it to Eddie who tried not to swoon.
Charles & Sue: Sue loves to get a Raw Raspberry Slice when they stop by and Charles always gets a couple Chewy Chocolate Cookies. If Lucas is helping out Steve will send him home with some of the treats that he saved for the couple.
Robin: She loves when Steve makes Pumpkin Bread and the Lemon Tarts! But for her birthday he always makes her Hummingbird cake like her grandpa used to make her and she always has the biggest smile when he brings it out for her.
Nancy: Nancy loves the Apple & Fig Butterscotch Puddings that Steve makes around fall and looks forward to getting some when she's down for Thanksgiving break. She also loves to get the Apple & Blackberry Bars, she loves the hazelnut crumble on the top so much.
Jonathan: Jonathan would die for the Chocolate & Spearmint Caramel Slices. The kids tease him for liking chocolate and mint together but he loves it. He also really likes the fudge and Steve is always ready to bring him some when Argyle comes down for a visit.
Argyle: Argyle will argue that he loves everything Steve makes and Steve would be obliged to believe him because the man has literally tried everything in the cafe, but he does eat the fudge a lot but that could be because that's all that Steve brings to Jon when he hears of Argyle coming down for a visit. But Argyle does love one specific fudge, he loves the Fudge Krispies. He also really like the Bee Sting Cake.
Eddie: Eddie would also argue that he loves everything that Steve makes but he does tend to get the Sticky Toffee & Strawberry Tarts and the Chocolate Hazelnut & Frangelico Tart Slices. He loves the taste of the last one but he especially loves the smile Steve gives him when he orders it and the way he asks him if he told him that it was his Aunt's favorite dessert and she used to sneak Steve extra pieces of it. Eddie always says he doesn't think so just so he can hear Steve talk more and watch the way he lights up.
Eddie also loves when he's back around Christmas time or Valentine's Day because Steve makes him these fantastic Chocolate Rum Balls that are to die for!
Dustin: Dustin will take a little bag of Golden Thumbprints to school because of course Steve brings him some for his lunch when he gives him a ride to school. Dustin is also another person who fiercely declares he loves everything Steve makes. But Steve knows his kid and his kid loves the Golden Thumbprints most. That and the Banana Split Cake that he would make him for his birthday.
Max: Max really likes the Honey, Lemon Curd & Blueberry Tarts. Steve always packs her some for lunch. She also just loves everything Steve makes because she knows he loves making everything. She's not great in the kitchen but she does love when Steve tries to teach her how to cook and bake. When they make dinner together and dessert she always feels so happy and loved. She also has a soft spot for when he makes rice pudding since it's something he only makes at home.
El: Besides the waffles she gets when she spends the night at Robin, Steve, and Max's house, she loves when Steve makes her a Chocolate Raspberry Profiterole Cake. He always makes it for her birthday along with birthday waffles! She also really likes to buy a mini Orange Trifle. (She likes the different textures)
Will: Will loves getting a slice of the Peanut Butter & Jelly Loaf, he just loves that it's something simple made better, plus it tastes fantastic. He also really likes the Bombolonis which Steve is ecstatic about and always makes sure he has some for Will when he visits, or if it's ready he will send some with Max to school for Will.
Mike: Mike kinda loves the simple treats the best like the Peanut Butter cookies chocolate brownies but he does have a soft spot for the Neenish Tarts and will be absolutely upset if they are sold out before he gets any.
Lucas: Lucas loves all the cookies but the Super Chocolate Chunk Cookies have a special place in his heart and they were the first recipe that Steve taught him when he started helping out at the cafe. He also really likes the Blueberry-Pumpkin muffins when Steve makes them in fall.
Erica: Erica would die for the Teddy Bear Bread. Yes it's just bread. Yes it's in the shape of a teddy bear. It's the best bread ever. Ever. She also loves the chocolate mousse because Steve give her two cups and always surprises her with the fruit topping. He also will sneak her some Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies.
Corroded Coffin: Gareth, Jared and Jeff adore everything Eddie brings them back but they freaking love the Peach Cream Puffs. Though they do want to find this mysterious cafe/bakery and this "Stevie" so they can actually order for themselves. They are planning on stalking Eddie next time he leaves.
Steve: Steve loves the Chocolate Hazelnut & Frangelico Tart and the Apple frangipane Tart, he loves the salted caramel sauce he puts on top. Those are his top favorites but he also claims that the new treats he is selling in the cafe are his favorite everytime there is something new or something seasonal

Gluten-Free Chocolate Mug Cake (0 Spoons)
I've been quiet here for awhile, at least in part because it's been a long month or two. There's been overtime at work, which I should not have been doing but because we're understaffed and half the office got sick, I had little choice. Also I went to what will probably be my last convention a couple of weeks ago, which was objectively hellacious but I got autographs from the entire cast of Critical Role so I regret nothing. But of course I came out of that with a serious pain flare and what might have been con crud but was also quite possibly the flu, so that kind of murdered any chance of my being productive the last couple of weeks. But I have this week off and I have some plans. Mostly because I got cookbooks and very much intend to use them.
Side note - I've been contemplating doing a thing to raise money for Fibromyalgia Action UK, and weirdly, my main thought about something sponsored has been "cook through an entire cookbook in 12 months", like The Julie / Julia Project. I came up with that idea least partly because Julie Powell died a couple of weeks ago, which ... I mean, she was barely older than me, what the fuck? But also because cookbooks don't exactly give a chronic pain-friendly rating to its recipes, and part of it would involve doing an adjunct-document with spoon ratings like I do on the recipes here. Still toying with the idea, at least partly because butter and eggs are expensive as fuck. Don't even get me started on the pecans I need for a recipe I got my mother to bring me Jell-O pudding from North America especially to make. Also there's too much that needs buttermilk and that's not so much a thing over here.
Which brings me to today's bit of cookery notes. See, I have new cookbooks, and I've been trying to decide what I want to make from them. I'm having serious executive dysfunction about so much of it, so for the most part I've been sticking with chocolate chip cookies. But I didn't want to do that this time, but there are so many cookies to try. Eventually I got tired of indecision and just really wanted a sweet treat, and one of my cookbooks (Quick + Easy Gluten Free by Becky Excell, which I heartily recommend) had recipes for mug cakes. I'd never tried one, so I figured, why not? I went for the chocolate one instead of the jam doughnut one because I didn't want to use an egg for just the yolk until I found something to do with the white. (Which probably means the next recipe you'll see here is gluten-free cinnamon roll sugar cookies, but anyway.)
So! Chocolate mug cakes! Here's what you'll need:
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
4 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons caster sugar
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
3 tablespoons gluten-free all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon gluten-free baking powder
1 tablespoon chocolate chips
I imagine you could replace both the all-purpose flour and the baking powder with gluten-containing versions and have it be fine. But note - no xanthan gum, no egg. You could probably add the tiniest drop of vanilla extract, though.
Here's what you do:
Put all the ingredients in a microwaveable mug; mix well
Cover the mug with plastic wrap; poke a few holes in the plastic
Microwave on high for 60-70 seconds
Let cool for a couple of minutes (the mug will be really hot)
FEAST (they recommend topping it with ice cream and / or chocolate syrup, so maybe do that and then FEAST)
There is no earthly way I could make this any easier. You could probably add various bits of additional flavour - replace the chocolate chips with fudge chips, a drop of vanilla or orange or mint extract, maybe a pinch of cinnamon - but it's pretty well fine on its own. The only thing I can add is that the cookbook says microwave on high in a 900W microwave, but mine is 800W so I just put it in for 70 seconds and it was fine, so maybe add an extra 5-10 seconds if your microwave is lower wattage than that.
So yeah, this is the perfect spoonie dessert, really. If you're having a bad day and are tired and you just want something nice that requires no effort and isn't a £3 brownie? This is the way to go.

So I was watching Dylan B. And it dawned on me. Ansi is from the 80s. The 80s. She's from that generation where they came up with those weird food concoctions like throwing cheez whiz into cornbread. And yet she'd be there doing it too 😭.
Whenever the three of the 3 of them are hanging out at HQ or just vibing on Hobie's boat she'll bake something. And at first it starts off with your typical 80s treats like monkey bread or some blondies. But sometimes she'll walk out of Hobie's kitchen looking like she's holding toxic waste with the biggest smile on her face.
And it's always a gamble on what you're gonna get, because sometimes her baked goods, while unorthodox, are actually really good. Nobody thought the Velveeta cheese fudge would've turned out well but they were pleasantly surprised. Sometimes though she makes things that are so foul that Hobie, I'll eat anything, Brown debates throwing it overboard after she leaves. (Diane probably has Hobie poison taste test before she tries anything and even then she's skeptical because of his Britishness.)
They give her their honest opinion for each thing that she makes as calmly as they can without hurting her feelings. And since she's trying to learn how to bake using her own groceries they don't have the heart to stop her. However, Ansi is straight up banned from making jello salad because of all the vile concoctions she kept coming up with.

Hobie is all hesitant and she's like 'Weren't you eating spotted dick yesterday'. 'You're bugging out, it's like Yorkshire pudding and all that.' Then she stands there waiting for him to eat it even though she was the one who was all excited to try jhhfjjdkf
And when she does like it the house Never gets quiet for there. She's all "Yeessss, snaps to this!!" or going "Okay, chef!". Everytime Ansi come in the room she's complimenting her (with another piece in her hand)
But on the inverse, since Diane LOVES soul food and is so greedy her food is A LOT.
Everything need Adobo and Larry's and Old Bay Seasoning. (Yes all three) Everything needs butter. Salty as hell and if it's spicy it's damn near too hot to taste.
She loads up the plate with cornbread AND yams AND mac & cheese, then hands it to them like it's lunch. Why'd she make so much goddamn collard greens? Wakes up in the morning like 'ya'll want sum grits and shrimp?" Ma'am it's 9am.
She makes all this heavy ass buttery food, eats the whole thing then looks at Ansi and Hobie like
"Ya'll not hungry?? - I'm hungry. This is good food - Hobie you okay you ain't finish"
and it's like yeah cause it looks like you deep-fried this burger in lard the man has heartburn
Pavi says she's tryna fatten everyone up like the witch from Hansel & Gretel but she's just trying to make sure everyones soul is FED OKAY
