Race was whistling Spot's favorite song as he crossed the bridge into Brooklyn. It wad his favorite time of the day, time to see his boyfriend. Race went to their usual meeting place, but Spot was nowhere to he found. Race also took notice of the fact that no one was out selling like they usually were.he shrugged it off and decided he would try the lodging house.

Race needed to visit the lodging house anyway, he had a new deck of cards to give to HotShot, and she was always the one to open the door.

When he arrived, he knocked three times, just like he always did, but no one answered. Race immediately knew that something was wrong.

He cautiously opened the door to the devastated faces of several newsies. Some of the toughest boys he knew were cuddled together under blankets, trying to hide their tears. Race's stomach turned, he needed to find Spot immediately.

He ran directly to the roof and began searching. It didn't seem like anyone was up there, but Race knew better. He kept searching until he heard a small stiff come from under a pile of boxes.

"Spotty?" Race asked quietly. The pile hiccuped. Race quickly moved the boxes to find his boyfriend sobbing in fetal position.

Race's mind filled with questions. What had Spot so upset? Why hadn't Spot sent someone to get him? Why wasn't HotShot there to comfort him like she usually was? And then, it clicked.

"HotShot" Race whispered under his breath. His eyes welled with tears.

"Oh Spotty, I'm so sorry," he whispered.

The two spent the rest of the night crying on each other's shoulders. They knew in their hearts that nothing would ever be the same again.

I have both! One of my favorite headcanons is that Spot has a baby face and looks way younger than he actually is. I just love the irony of the most feared and powerful newsie in New York looking like a short, scrawny, 10 year old.

This time not someone in Jack's crew but of the Brooklyn bunch! I thought I had to draw my Hotshot for once and isn't she great? She usually has more flintlocks too but she isn't in full battle gear, so to speak. Will just say you might be afraid of Spot due to his reputation but... beware his big sister too. Just a little heads up.

The Team Rocket looking dudes are Kit and Kat, OCs that were already in my fic "Rumor has it, someone tried to dethrone Spot Conlon" as little menaces of twins that like to argue. And here they argue less but are still menaces. In "Toss a coin to your pirate" they are about 18/19 but here I wanted to draw them so it is obvious they are a bit younger. sometimes, hotshot feels like he’s playing second fiddle in ike’s world. which, well, he is. and hotshot should be used to being second, just the same as he is in brooklyn’s hierarchy, in his whole life, and really it usually doesn’t bother him. but sometimes it wears him down. between everyone in brooklyn only listening to spot and ike’s world revolving around his brother, hotshot gets it in his head sometimes that he doesn’t matter at all. he doesn’t do anything for brooklyn aside from repeat spot’s orders and try and go by their word for his own, ike’ll blow him off without a word if mike needs him more - he just gets distracted, hotshot knows, he doesn’t mean it, he’s just so used to dropping everything for his brother - and hotshot’s nothing. a placeholder, the sort of thing that could be taken away without really affecting anything else.

so. hotshot goes a few days without being able to get ahold of ike at all. he passes message after message to manhattan that he wants to meet ike on the bridge like they usually do, wants to know if he’s free that night, wants to know if he can just come see ike, but only ever gets passed messages back that ike can’t make it then for some reason or another. he’s busy, he’s tired, he’s told everyone that he’s not seeing anyone tonight, told everyone to tell hotshot that he’s sorry but he can’t meet for a while. like he expects hotshot to just wait.

ike is wildly relieved when things finally blow over for him - maybe mike was sick or something, maybe it was a whole bunch of things that kept him busy and stressed beyond belief - and how much he missed hotshot crashes over him like a wave. he immediately tries to return any of those messages he’s been blowing off, tries to get message to hotshot that he wants to meet again - wants to make it up to his boyfriend, kiss him until he can’t breathe, hold him for hours to make up for the time they’ve been apart and apologise until his tongue goes numb. he wants to explain himself finally, rather than the silence he’s been unintentionally providing. but now it’s his messages that aren’t going through - everyone brooklynside is only offering shrugs, saying they don’t know where hotshot’s at, blindly guessing that maybe he’s busy or something. nobody’s seen hotshot - but nobody seems to care.

and maybe hotshot can handle silence like this, can sit and wait like a second-in-command does, when ike goes missing. but ike can’t. he heads straight to brooklyn to find his boyfriend, who wholeheartedly believes nobody is looking.

first post! these are some spot headcanons.

-he hates Jack and admires Jack at the same time. Like they fight all the time but Spot cares about Jack as he would care about his own men.

-he actually doesn’t sleep in the lodging house because he wants more little kids to be able to have more shelter so he sleeps in an alleyway

-he does not cry. he cries twice a year at most. sometimes him crying is just because he’s yawning or something.

-he puts the Brooklyn boys’ life before his own. No matter how much they suck. He will always give his life for his men.

-hotshot and him are the same age and joined the newsies at about the same time. they’re basically brothers.

-he hates birds.

-the brooklyn boys INSIST he sleeps in the lodging house during the winter so he does… reluctantly.

-he always wants the top bunk. he never takes the bottom bunk. spot is not a bottom boy. not like that.

-he actually felt hurt when jack betrayed the strike. he fought with him all the time of course but he still was close to him.

-he swears A LOT.

-his key necklace actually does nothing. he just thought it would make him look and seem more mysterious

The United States is turning into a warzone against the uprising of the infected and the twin brothers, Mike and Ike, are separated from across the country as they fight for their survival in their own way. Mike becomes a nomad and escapes his old college campus with his friends, while Ike hunkered down in his campus with his friends and fortified it even further . One was constantly on the run to look for a place to settle down, the other was shielded while desperate to look for answers to the apocalypse they're in. The chances of them running into each other are low, however it's never zero...
