Going to rewatch all the HP movies in honor of Robbie Coltrane.

As an adult I definitely view many things differently than I did as a kid. Especially since I read the books which I'm also rereading.

In the first film, I hate this scene. Especially as someone who loves kids and has been a teacher. People aways say its fine because Snape favored his house (someone has to since Slytherin is so hated) and they think Slytherin is always cheating, but at least in the books, if you look at the actual facts, Snape doesn't award a single house point in the series EVEN for Slytherin and takes a total of about 270 in ALL of the 6 school years that we see. 12 in PS/SS. In PS/SS, McGonagall took 150 points from her own house and 20 from Slytherin. If anything the other teachers take more points than Snape throughout the series. Also, according to one of JK Rowlings interviews Snape also took the most points away from his own house. And the mostly minor point deductions he did to Gryffindor were hardly game changing, for every Gryffindor point he deducted for whatever reason was most probably regained that same day by another student. And we never really see the Professors awarding Slytherin many points like they do to Gryffindor. And since Snape doesn't award points even to Slytherin, we can assume they are fairly earning the ones they won since its other unbiased professors who are awarding them points. They were winning the House Cup for many years straight for a reason and only began losing after Harry entered the fold in which he continuously gets extra points and unfairly so.

But what I hate the most about this scene is not only did Dumbledore let Slytherins believe they had won, but he let them celebrate their apparent victory, complete with decorations that he put up. He sat there knowing he was going to wait until literally the last moment to pull the rug out from under them. Dumbledore pretty much just dropped massive loads of points on Gryffindor when it was impossible for anyone to gain anymore.

Slytherin rightfully won. It was unfair for Dumbledore to award points for a school competition knowing that the points he was awarding had nothing to do with the school or the rest of the students. He knew that no other students had the opportunity that Harry and his friends had. He knew that only Harry really could have gone up against Voldemort as he's the child of prophecy. Awarding them points was straight up cheating. And unfair to the rest of the children. Harry may have helped save the Wizarding world, but he broke school rules to do it (which is fine) but under normal circumstances a different student would have had points deducted for breaking those same rules and from a school competition standpoint he shouldn't be awarded for something that has nothing to do with the school and it's competition. He can be rewarded in a different way that doesn't involve house points and the end of year house competition. Slytherin shouldn't have lost. Dumbledore calculated the exact points needed for them to win on purpose.

Headcannon time!

okay, so.

Muggle James Camp Councillor.

He would be known as the ‘cool councillor’ and ‘Prongs’ by all of the kids.

He’d help all the homesick and hurt children endlessly, wether it be just sitting with them and talking or going on a walk through the woods!

He’d make the best activities, and especially love archery and any running around.

Effie and Fleamont would work in the kitchens!

Fleamont also is the owner of the camp, and so he puts all the boys and girls in their favourite activities.

Remus, Sirius and Peter being the opposing councillors of the male cabins and constantly having competitions between them.

Lily, Marlene, Dorcas and Mary are the Councillors of the female cabins!

Regulus, Evan, Barty, Frank, Pandora, Alice, Emmeline and Molly Being C.I.Ts! ( councillors in training) ((Ik it doesn’t make sense Year wise but that’s what it ended up))

All the kids getting deeply invested in their councillors love lives, and shipping them ( the wolfstar ship is the largest, aswell as Jily and Dorlene, but there’s the Marylily shippers holding strong!)

Some kids shipping Councillors with C.I.Ts too, like Jegulus!

at the end of camp, there’s a massive ‘Cup Week’ where all the kids get into their Houses ( the Hogwarts houses ) and compete in all sorts of activities to get the most house points.

At the last day of Cup Week, the kids choose 4 councillors(one for each faction) (( the councillors don’t have set factions)) and they each go head to head in a series of 5 challenges, and who ever wins gets 100 points!

the councillors confirming/denying any ships in the last week too, making kids go wild! ( The wolfstar shippers were elated, but no-one expected Jegulus!!)

Nonbinary/Genderless children getting to go into which ever cabin they want, and the councillors making sure these kids have people using the right pronouns and aren’t being bullied.

Today was the last day of Harry Potter camp (I was a counselor there) and for the last day we had this "Dobby Fashion Show" where all the kids could wear funky/mismatched socks and show them off

Except

Three of the kids (who were all my little Hufflepuffs, thank you very much) didn't just wear fun socks. They created entire OUTFITS with them. They had them on their clothes and in their hair and on their little owls that they got at the start of the week- they were covered in socks. And keep in mind, this isn't just one kid, this is THREE and (as far as I am aware) it was uncoordinated. They each had an idea and all came in with it in their own style. One girl had socks on her hat, one girl had socks bobby-pinned to her hair, and one girl had socks on her ears. There were socks on feet and socks around necks and socks (two pair or more!) on hands and socks stuffed into pockets. Just socks. E V E R Y W H E R E.

Needless to say that Hufflepuff crushed the Dobby Fashion show

60. Let's make the house cup slightly more meaningful than a trophy that sits in the Head of House's office.

The train that takes the students home at the end of the Hogwarts school year is recolored to match the house that one the house cup that year the cup... additionally, the pennant flags at the top of the castle towers also change color until the day after the start of the next school year when they randomize back to each house color, instead of just the winning house.
