Never in my life did I think that re-tweeting resources for SA, and supporting victims would be considered problematic or performative.
I should not have to bare this, but I'm going to tell just one of my stories, because I need you to understand where I'm coming from. TW // Sexual Harassment
--
When I was 15, I had my wisdom teeth removed. I wanted to avoid using the pain medication they prescribed. I struggle a lot with sensory issues, medications and substances made it worse.
However, my surgery was for impacted teeth, and only two days in one of my stitches fell out. I was in so much pain, and couldn't eat solids w/ out pain for up to three weeks.
So, a week into my recovery, one of my friends invites me to their house. They were having our friend group over, it was just a little bonfire get together kinda thing. I took my pain meds a few hours prior, and only half a dose, but I was out of it to some degree, and somehow still in pain.
I was sitting on a lawn chair outside, when one of my close friends came over and asked to sit on my lap. Honestly, I said yes at first, because this was my childhood friend, someone I trusted, and I thought our relationship was incredibly platonic. Then he started to shift/grind about in my lap, and I started to feel things of theirs I did not want to. They made a noise that deeply unsettled me, and I told him to get off, they didn't. It was only when I told them that he accidently triggered the emergency call shortcut on my phone (it was in the pocket of the lawn chair, yes they were moving that much and I was moving trying to push him off) that he finally got up.
I was bewildered, and a bit confused, and also embarrassed that my phone nearly called 911. I claimed I wasn't feeling well, and went home early.
That was the first time someone touched me in a remotely sexual way, but I didn't dare to label it until I talked to my therapist. It made me dwell on a lot of experiences with this person as well. How obsessed they were with being taller than me, how often they'd grab me and force me to see if they were stronger than me. At the time, I was in a friend group of predominately non-men, and they were all friends with this person.
However, when I told them about this, when I expressed the discomfort it brought me. I was brushed off. "He's just like that!" oh "He probably didn't mean it" etc.
I didn't feel comfortable in the same room as this person. My friends would continue to invite them to hang outs. One of my other friends told everyone about what happened without my permission. I started having breakdowns in my classes with him. I had panic attacks all the time. I felt as if I had to continue this façade of being nice to him, or else I would lose my friends of years and years.
I was happy when covid started, because for the first time I had breathing room, but by then so much of my trust was dismantled.
Due to my friends association with this person, and the fact that not being their friend excluded me. I eventually got over it, and told myself I'd grown past it.
Three months ago, this same person admitted to me they hold extreme grudges against me, that they projected their "mommy issues" on to me, and quite literally said the words, "Yeah yeah, you're a woman who's outspoken and challenged me and that bothers me yeah yeah." in regards to that. They said it with sarcasm, like it was something they knew, and their mother was reminding them for the 12th time.
--
I bring this all up, not to make you feel guilty, but to discuss the harm of not supporting victims, not listening to them. It puts them in a position of isolation, and in a position to potentially be hurt again.
So yeah, I'm gonna be a little upset when people say I'm being "performative" about supporting victims of sexual harassment and SA. I'm not doing this because it benefits me, in fact it's caused a lot of backlash, horrible dms, and very triggering memories.
I'm doing it because I was once not heard, and i've sat with Caiti behind the scenes for months watching her lose passion for something she loved (content creation).
I didn't do this because I'm secretly sniveling behind the scenes tapping my fingers praying on peoples downfall. I'm not a Disney villain dude lmfao.
Honestly, this narrative that is being pushed, that people are doing it "because it benefits them" is quite ironic, considering most of the people talked about within the last 72 hours were under Wilbur's weird ass apology doing just that.
I hate it, I hate it, I hate it, I hate it. I hate how people are okay with this narrative, the misogynist undertones of it. I've seen people admit that they didn't like me or my friends the entire time, while simultaneously "calling us out" about this, so I ask you,
Are you calling us? Because it benefits your motives? Your feelings?

Exposing SVSSS Fanon: 25/∞
VIOLENCE AS COURTSHIP IS A PART OF DEMON CULTURE
Rating: CANON
A nearly universal trope, especially in Moshang fics, is the fact that courtship is performed through violence in demon culture, and that the misunderstandings between the pair are because of cultural differences. The fact that demons mistreat the targets of their affection is canon, however, it is important for fans to note that this sort of characterization and worldbuilding is rooted in racial and ethnic stereotypes.
This is one of the most-requested topics I've ever written on this blog, and I took a long time to think about how best to approach the subject in a way that both keeps to the intention of this blog (referencing canon & providing quotes) as well as raising awareness to the very real problematic aspects of what is a well-loved and often-used trope in fanon that I don't think most western fans are aware of.
First, the canon analysis:
“If you hold unique feelings for a certain person, how can you make them understand your intentions?” Luo Binghe asked. Obviously, no one dared to tear down Luo Binghe’s facade and expose him directly, but this question was really very…unsuited to the demonic approach. After a long moment, not a single person had answered. In fact, the answer was so simple that any normal human could have given it to you. If you liked someone, you should just tell them. Unfortunately, there was not a single “normal” person on the scene—and aside from Shang Qinghua, there also were no “humans” either. Mobei-Jun thought about it. With the paths his mind was given to take, there was no telling how he had interpreted “unique” feelings. “Beat them up three times a day?” (7 Seas, Ch. 26)
Most of the fandom remembers this passage, and some may think that this is where the interpretation of violence as courtship comes from-- however, that is not the case. This passage might actually not refer to courtship at all-- while that is one possible interpretation, Mobei-jun could also be interpreting "unique feelings" to mean something different than "romantic feelings," since Luo Binghe didn't specify romance directly.
The "violent demonic courtship" idea actually originates much earlier in the novel, just after the invasion of Qiong Ding Peak:
In truth, Shen Qingqiu didn’t intend to tease; he thought himself very straightforward. The one who’d tampered with Luo Binghe’s dream realm was Sha Hualing. Though she did have some harmful intentions, her underlying motive was obvious. Naturally, she was driven by a young girl’s secret yearning for love. Otherwise, she would have directed her aggressions toward others, not specifically Luo Binghe. Demons were compelled to viciously bully the person they liked. Only if the object of their affections failed to die would the demon accept them. If their target died, that meant they were useless and not worth nursing any lingering affections for. (7 Seas, Ch. 3)
This, in fact, has somewhat more serious connotations than the way I have often seen it interpreted in fanworks-- it is not merely beating up a potential partner, but pushing them to their limits, nearly driving them to death, and it is certainly implied that it is not uncommon for the object of a demon's affections to actually die.
Now that the canonical basis of the idea has been established, let us move on to the second, and arguably more important part of this post: the racism.
I would like to add a disclaimer here-- I am going to discuss this in hopes of raising more awareness in the fandom, but I am not North/West/Central Asian myself, so I will only mention things in brief and somewhat generally-- if anyone who belongs to the affected cultures would like to make corrections, or more detailed explanations, or any other additions to this post on this topic, I greatly welcome that, as I feel it is an important issue that should be addressed.
In Chinese fiction, particularly fantasy genres like xianxia/xuanhuan/xiuzhen, but also in historical and wuxia fiction, there is a pervasive, prevalent tendency for authors to use racial and ethnic stereotypes against Central, Northern, and Western Asian cultures such as Mongolian & Arab cultures in their worldbuilding regarding the North, while stereotypes against Southeast Asian cultures are used in worldbuilding regarding the South. These stereotypes are most typically applied to villains and villainous groups, and are so widespread as to be ubiquitous within the genre. MXTX has used these tropes before-- notably with the Banyue people in TGCF, with adaptations of both TGCF and MDZS including design stereotypes, such as CQL's portrayal of the Qinghe Nie (combining their tendency toward violence and 'unnatural' cultivation method, with design traits typically associated with Northern/Central Asian cultures).
It is worth noting, though, that most authors do not intentionally use these traits as racist stereotypes in their worldbuilding, especially when regarding a non-human species-- in the same way that western fantasy authors use goblin and orc characters and tropes without realizing or acknowledging their racist origins and connotiations, these stereotypes have simply become genre tropes without that direct connection to their origins. Nonetheless, it is still worth noting-- and worth trying not to fall into the trap of leaning into stereotypical traits in fanworks' character portrayals.
Stereotypes include but are not limited to barbaric and brutish cultural traits, association with animals/having animal features, dark or corrupt magical/spiritual practices, certain types of braided hairstyles & other fashion choices, and originating from the far north or south.
Some of the prejudice and stereotyping of Northern Asian cultures likely originates from the fact that in the past, China was invaded and subjugated by peoples from the north (under Mongolian rule during the Yuan dynasty, and under Manchurian rule during the Qing dynasty) as well as having many conflicts with these peoples throughout history. In fact, the Qing dynasty only ended in the early 1900s, so some of this oppression is still in recent memory-- nonetheless, people belonging to ethnic minorities in China are still affected by this negative stereotyping today, so regardless of the origin, racism is still racism and should be addressed, and China today is a majority Han Chinese nation-- even if Han Chinese are considered a minority and affected by systemic racism in other places in the world.
Additionally, many tropes specifically applied to the southern demons, but also used for demon culture as a whole, are tied to stereotypical portrayals of Southeast Asian culture, which is rooted in a long history of Imperial China's invasion and oppression.
All of those stereotypes listed above apply to SVSSS' demon culture. Even in Mobei-jun's name-- 漠北 meaning "northern desert," which is the real-world name for a region in the north of the Gobi desert in Mongolia.
Therefore, it is important to remember that though violence-as-courtship in demon culture is canonical within SVSSS' setting, it nonetheless originates from harmful racial and ethnic stereotypes. It would be a good idea for fans to keep this in mind when creating their fanworks, and to treat the topic with sensitivity-- but I will leave any direct suggestions on how to handle this to those who are actually part of the affected groups.
--
(thanks to @flidgetjerome for additional notes regarding SEAsian stereotyping and author intent!)

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I swear to God, Twitter being able to accumulate so many brain-dead, malicious, pseudo intellectual low lives all in one place at the same time is a phenomenon worthy of being studied under a microscope in a science lab. And no, that is not a compliment.
Thankfully people have already spoken out against this bullshit-- the fact that people needed to is already maddening to think about-- but as someone who got the basic gist of what happened literally yesterday I'll also put my voice out there: Don't you fucking dare try to paint Hbomb as a murderer over this situation.
Somerton may be a lying, misogynistic plagiarist and conman, but he obviously doesn't deserve to die and while I do make fun of the guy, I genuinely hope that he continues to have a life after the dust has settled on everything. Not on YouTube or any social media platform for a long time at least, but just a life nontheless. I don't wish what he's potentially going through on anyone, and I hope that he makes it through this. But regardless of if he does or doesn't-- and God forbid he doesn't-- none of this is Hbomb's fault. It's not his fault, or Kat's fault, or Jessie's fault (because apparently there's people blaming her too cuz WHY NOT), or anybody's fault. All they did was call out his actions, hold him accountable for the harm he's done. They have done nothing to deserve having to carry this on their shoulders should the worst happen. They did nothing wrong. They didn't kill James (he's not confirmed dead yet either btw). They are not murderers. And to the people saying they are: say those words out loud, listen how they sound like, and re-evaluate. Just cease.
And to people like this:
Tumblr media
''Oh I'm not blaming him for anything I'm just blaming him for what his audience did because according to HIM you're responsible for your audience'' Yeah, you people can shut your mouths too. Of course you're responsible for your audience, and that includes Hbomb too. However, your tiny, godless little monkey brain can't see why your argument is still rubbish even with that in mind. The difference between James, Internet Historian and Hbomb is that Hbomb never promoted problematic behaviour to his audience. If you promote problematic shit like harassment or misogyny or racism, then yeah, you're absolutely responsible for how your behaviour influences your audience. But that's not what he did. He made it very clear where he stood on those things, literally stating that ''if anyone were to harass Somerton on his behalf they are worse than him and will not see the light of heaven''. He's done his part in making it clear that harassment is wrong, so if someone went out of their way to go against that and harass James anyway that doesn't reflecf on him at all. Also, what the hell do you mean ''hatemobbed'' to suicide? I don't doubt there are people who went to extremes because those bad apples always exist, but most of the things I've seen are valid critisisms, memes and call outs about that guy. If holding people accountable for their actions and poking fun at them a little counts as 'hatemobbing'' (which has Filip calling his critics a ''lynch mob'' energy tbh) what the hell do you call actual hatemobbing then? Do we just let people continue being shitty because calling them out ''damages their mental health'' or ''drives them to suicide'' then? Is that a world you want to live in?
Same thing goes for people like this:
Tumblr media
Criticing someone for their objectively bullshit content and wanting them dead are two seperate things. What the actual hell is wrong with you. The plagiarist in question is a person. Those ''harshest critics'' are still people. And because we're people, we care. I'd rather James pump out more plagiarised slop than commit suicide. I'd still hate him for it, but I'd prefer him being alive over the alternative any day. We all do. None of us would sleep easier knowing he's dead just because he wouldn't be ''committing the cardinal sin of putting out a 'pure content mill' video'' because someone taking their own life is horrific-- especially Hbomberguy, how dare you even try to imply that?
And this gets me to the reason I'm furiously typing all this out in the first place: Hbomb is the fucking victim here, so stop treating him like he isn't. He tried making things as right as possible by compensating those that were burned by James through a video where he revealed everything there needs to be known about the guy so that less people fall victim to his actions and lies. To just ignore the harm James was causing while he had the evidence to prove it and platform too big to threaten into non existence should he speak out would've been bad. So he didn't. He did the right thing by sticking with the people James had stolen from, giving them a voice and making them known after they've been scrubbed from the picture by decidedly being uncredited for their works or bullied into silence. He shouldn't have to deal with this for doing the right thing. He shouldn't be labelled a murderer for doing the right thing. He shouldn't have to have the death of a man on his conscience for doing the right thing. People claiming otherwise are obviously wrong, but I can't imagine what all this must feel like right now. Because even tho they're wrong, guilt isn't a rational thing, and I know that if I were in his position I'd still feel like a morally bankrupt individual were the worst to happen even if I knew that it was not my fault. This isn't a funny story. So to add to this dumpsterfire by using it as a prop to bash on a creator you don't like and immediately write Somerton off as dead even when he's not even been confirmed dead yet to do that shows how little these people actually care about the thing they're talking about. They don't care a guy potentially killed himself-- what they care about is using it to paint Hbomb in a bad light because they don't like him. Here they are, posting memes and ill jokes about this very delicate situation while barely a day since the news broke out had passed. It's opportunistic, it's sickening, and literally the exact thing he criticised in his video when talking about 'content mills'. Like, I know none of these clowns bothered to actually watch it, but have some self-awareness. And some shame too, while you're at it.
This long story short: I'm writing this to contribute to the narrative not getting twisted to make Hbomb out to be the villian. Same goes for everyone else. Don't let these people paint them as the villians. If I see another person pull this shit again I will literally bite you and shred you into salad and spit you back out because I hate you so much and I mean that wholeheartedly.
To Hbomb: you will never see this but if you do, take care of yourself.
To the asshats this post is about: Delete your account. Cease all together. Stop talking about this. Just leave him the fuck alone.

Dating Yandere Bi Han Would Include:
Tumblr media
As a Yandere, he's obsessed with his love interest to unhealthy degrees. He'll do anything and everything to make sure that you're all his and only his, no matter the cost. If anyone so much as looks at you or tries to be close to you, he'll quickly and violently make sure that no one will ever come between you. But that side of him isn't something he always just shows off right away. As a Yandere, he can pretend to be pretty normal and even friendly at first, slowly slipping in those intense and possessive tendencies over time.
He'll have this sense of ownership and control over you that he feels is completely justified. He wants you to be his in every sense of the word, from keeping you all to himself to dictating how you should behave.
He can become extremely possessive over you. He'll demand that you spend time with him, always put him first, and never pay anyone else any attention. He can also be very controlling, trying to dictate what you eat, wear, do, etc.
He can also be very manipulative and calculating, using everything at his disposal to make sure that you remain under his control. He'll use guilt trips, threats, intimidation, and even physical violence to get what he wants. He doesn't care how selfish or even downright cruel his actions may be, as long as it ensures that you stay with him. Even if that means hurting you, someone else, or himself in the process.
But the thing that truly amplifies his Yandere tendencies is jealousy. Jealousy can unleash a whole host of intense emotions in him and can cause him to act irrational, aggressive, and even violent. Seeing his loved one with anyone else can make him extremely upset and frustrated to the point of no return.
He's not always just going to lash out in anger. He can also have these moments of vulnerability while acting as a Yandere. The intensity of his feelings and fear of losing you can lead to bouts of depression, anxiety, and even paranoia.
He's already fallen too far down the deep end when it comes to these tendencies. So he can end up having this hidden side where he's acting out these tendencies secretly and trying to hide the existence, such as when he's stalking you or sabotaging your other friendships.
He can get extremely competitive with other people over you. If anyone dares to get close to you, he'll immediately go into defense mode and do whatever he can to keep them away. That can include being rude and mean towards other potential lovers, spreading rumors, or even being physically aggressive if necessary. He won't care that there might be consequences for his actions—all of that matters less than making sure that you remains his.
It's not uncommon for him to ruminate or obsess over every detail about you. He might have these elaborate fantasies about your lives together, or he might constantly think about ways to get and keep you close to him.
He has a tendency to lash out not only at those around you but even at you as well. In moments of high intensity and irrational thought, his feelings can get the best of him and he'll start to show this obsessive, demanding, and controlling behavior towards you.
His obsession with you can cause him to develop an extreme sense of dependency and attachment towards you. He needs to know exactly what you're doing and who you're talking to every minute of the day. To get this information, he'll use whatever means necessary and can become extremely manipulative in this regard. This includes things like snooping, spying, tracking your movements, etc. Even if he has no real reason to doubt you, he'll always justify this behavior in his mind as being necessary, because of the extreme jealousy and possessiveness.
He has to constantly fight with this internal conflict. He knows right from wrong and he can recognize that his actions and behavior are problematic. But there's this sense of irrationality and obsession that always takes over, no matter how hard he tries to think it through. He may eventually realize how wrong he was and that he should change his behaviors, but quickly spirals back into his intense, obsessive, and possessive behaviors. It's a vicious cycle that can only be mitigated by him truly opening his eyes and changing for the better.
He needs to be constantly around you. It can get extremely unhealthy, to the point where he'll refuse to let you have any time alone, even going as far as locking you in rooms, basements, cabins, and other secluded areas so it's just the two of you.
He's constantly on edge and in a state of high alert, watching and waiting for any signs of competition in your life. Even the smallest thing can lead him to feel suspicious and lash out, or to suddenly develop extremely controlling behavior. He doesn't trust easily, and any tiny gesture you make may send him spiraling into panic mode. Besides fear, suspicion, and jealousy, there are also other intense feelings he experiences. Love, of course, passion, obsession, excitement at the prospect of seeing you, etc.
His behavior as a Yandere often becomes really obsessive. He can find himself doing things that are very irrational and unhealthy in the pursuit of being with you, and he can do this to the point of hurting himself. His obsessive behavior can lead to all kinds of problems for him, like neglecting himself and his own needs. He can skip out on eating and sleeping just to be with you all the time. It can also affect his work and social life, where he becomes so focused on you that he'll start avoiding everyone else.
He can be very good at pretending to be nice, sweet, and caring, just to break you down and get you to do what he wants once he has you fully emotionally vulnerable.
He usually rewards you when you do something that pleases him or just simply when you do something that he likes. This can be anything from gifts and treats to more intimate and special rewards. But on the flip side of that, he may also have a more twisted definition of rewards. He may reward you when you do things that he deems as good behavior.
When you don't comply with his demands or you do something that he doesn't like, he can become very harsh and cruel toward you. This can range from verbal punishment, such as insults and ridicule, to physical punishment, such as slaps, hits, and even more severe forms of abuse.
There are times when he would definitely use his powers on you. He can be extremely cruel when punishing you, so having the element of hurting you physically can be something that he resorts to as a means of establishing control. He would definitely use his powers to entertain you as well. He could show off the various things he can do with powers and put on a whole show just for you.
He would definitely want to eventually get married to you, either by conventional means or through force if he had to. Getting married to you means having ultimate ownership of you and ensuring that you can't escape him. It's the ultimate expression of his love for you and a way of making sure that you're his forever (whether you like it or not).
Bondage - He enjoys using restraints and other gadgets to enhance your pleasure and add an element of control.
Edging - He loves being naughty and getting his kicks from pushing boundaries with you. One of his favorite things is to tease and deny you for a long time before finally letting you have your release.
Size kink - He enjoys using his size to dominate and overpower you during sex. He's especially into rough play - pushing boundaries, teasing limits, and making people submit to him completely.
Making movies and even using his powers- He dreams about being so caught up in the moment that he loses control completely – letting himself go wild and unleash everything he's been holding back. And then there's the idea of having sex right there on the screen while you both watch – making your own private movie that only you will ever know about.
Food play - He also loves playing with your senses - teasing your taste buds with naughty foods or edible body paint, covering you in a mix of sweet and spicy scents, and using blindfolds and restraints to heighten your sense of touch and vulnerability.

Bagrah could be a great, fascinating character if Leigh Bardugo didn't try so hard to victimize her and portray her as some sort of hero... Seriously wtf ? The narration in relation to Bagrah always made me cringe. In another version of events, I would have liked a less ignorant Alina to tell her the truth about being a bad teacher, a bad mother (now I want a fanfiction where Alina defends Aleksander of Bagrah) and just a bad person.
⚠️TW: Suicide mention at some point⚠️
Bestie, you just decided to touch one of the most problematic things in that universe. The matter of "We consider toxic, problematic women innocent and heroic".
Just like Baghra, just like Ana Kuya. A world where if you're a woman and you're toxic, then you're okay!
My own feelings of Baghra is that I just can't help but find her interesting. I can't help but wanna re-read her scenes sometimes. I don't like her but she's intriguing. There are times when I remember how fucked up her life was. Her father neglected her and her mother despised her. And then they abandoned her. Which makes me feel sorry for her. But then I remember how she had numerous kids from loveless matches and abandoned them all except one. Because this boy was special like her: immortal and powerful. She willingly condemned another human being to the pain and loneliness of immortality (and it's very possible that she condemned her other children to immortality as well, just like Ulla). She raised Aleksander with no displays of love, didn't allow him to form bonds with others and used emotional, verbal (and, very possibly, physical) abuse on him. Taught him how to be prideful, to abandon love, to value power. But when Aleksander became prideful and valued power, she turned her back on him. When he found a potential match on Alina, she took her away from him. Because Baghra always wanted him to depend on her for company and love. All these make me feel disgust for her.
But still Baghra was a product of the fucked up life Grisha had that made her value self-preservation, just like Aleksander was. The only difference is that Aleksander cared about the fate of their people.
And when Aleksander entrusted her with the training of his Grisha, she used violent means to teach them how to develop and control their powers. Even used their own phobias against them ffs.
And despite all this, we have the good guys not only remembering her fondly but also defend her:
Tumblr media
This whole paragraph makes me sick.
Look, I naturally didn't expect the good gang remember the Darkling with love. No way that. But why on God's green earth do they make him seem like a lunatic with no feelings that was at fault for literally EVERYTHING?
“Did he love the girl he forced to commit those murders?”
Ah, yes, of course. Because if a person is a murderer then he's also incapable of feeling love. When you're a villain, you can't love. You can't have both. It's impossible, Aleksander! 😠🫵
“What about the girl he tossed into the old king's bed for his own purposes?”
Oh right. Because Aleksander gave Genya to the King not to the Queen's care. Jesus, I forgot that.
Oh yes! I also forgot how Genya decided to stay because she wanted to take revenge.
“then mutilated when she dared to challenge him”
Me if I was the editor of the book, saw that line and correcting it: "then punished when she dared to commit treason against him?"
Because isn't that what she did? She was his soldier and let the Sun Summoner escape. What do you think he would do to her? Give her a sympathetic pat on the shoulder and say: "I understand. She's your friend. Fuck Ravka."
“Or the woman he blinded for failing to offer him unswerving devotion?”
Didn't Baghra commit treason as well? Didn't she let the Sun Summoner go? Does Zoya realize that if the King had found out, he would behead Baghra on the spot?
Also why is she talking about him like he didn't regret what he did to his mother?
And am I the only one in this goddamn fandom that thinks that Baghra got away with it lightly?
So Zoya in a few words:
Tumblr media
‘Who would speak for Liliyana, for Genya and Alina and Baghra if she did not?’
In other words Zoya: "I'm the LAWYER IN HERE!!"
Instead of wanting to feel love for the good characters and side with them, I want to slap them across the face. The amount of stupidity and arrogance they have is truly admirable. Congratulations for being douchebags, my friends!!👌👌
This duology has me like:
Tumblr media
Instead of admitting that Baghra was problematic and made many serious mistakes (which I would much prefer to see from them) they're glorifying her. They're painting her as a frail, weak and innocent woman that did nothing wrong in her life. And being abusive is not against her! Of course not. Because she's a woman so we have to let her go of any charges and forgive her. ❤️
She was neither frail nor weak. She could easily use her powers if she could but Baghra loooved to play the victim. And she was definitely not innocent. She was one of the reasons Aleksander came out this way and contributed to his eventual downfall in R&R. Since her suicide made him lose his mind and become even more unhinged.
And, finally, yes I would have liked someone to tell her how shit of a mother she was to her son and how she sucks in general. But I don't think it would mind her much. She would be apathetic and sarcastic.

I think the fact that so many people want to label Leon/Ashley as canonically "sibling- coded" is because they feel threatened in the way they view other of Leon's relationships, they can tell Leon and Ashley have chemistry and they try to convince themselves that they have a familial bond going on (like Ellie/Joel) so that they can justify not shipping them and making people who ship it feel bad/weird.
Because nowadays so many people can't just dislike something, they have to make up a reason why it's morally wrong and unacceptable so that way they can bully people that think differently and feel like their own personal opinions are objective and right while everyone else is wrong smh. This is mostly the case with younger fans (tho a lot of people older than me does this too lmao) so that's why I don't really find it frustrating bc it's most likely they have limited real life experience. Plus they might not be that good at interpreting canon from contextual clues yet.
In my case though I think a lot of these people are actually doing the opposite tbh because to me it just shows that they recognize that Ashley's relationship with Leon is real and they can't even concede that they're friends in the canon because they know it could lead to something else if followed through in the story, they admit there's potential there subconsciously with how hard they try to make it seem otherwise with nonsense claims. It's like when insecure guys feel uncomfortable but try to seem tough by buying big trucks and having guns on them all the time lmao.
So, I've talked about this before -- about how the "sibling coded" or "problematic age gap" discourse is just modern-day fandom's way of slutshaming and engaging in casual misogyny in a societally acceptable way.
I'm pretty confident in saying that anyone in my generation who slaps "siblings" on Leon and Ashley are probably people who have another ship and have had it for a while and don't want Ashley getting in the way of it, tbh LMAO
Like.... my generation has co-opted the current generation's vernacular, but make no mistake about the kind of bitches we are. We're ship war bitches. That's all we've ever been AND WE ARE NOT GOING TO CHANGE OUR WAYS NOW fjdskfh
But if we're talking about the current generation...
Media illiteracy is a big factor in this. It's no secret to anyone that the US education system took a massive shit starting in the late aughts/early 2010s, and things like critical reading skills aren't being taught in schools anymore.
I graduated high school in 2007. Two years later, I went back to visit an old English teacher to get a letter of recommendation, and he was lamenting to me that he'd just given up. It wasn't worth trying to explain the deeper themes of Beowulf to kids who didn't care, because the only thing that mattered was getting them to pass standardized tests.
So, now, without an overt, explicit declaration of love or something visually concrete like a kiss, kids literally do not have the skills to parse through a text and pick out themes and tropes and use of symbolism and imagery. They were never taught how to do it.
But there's a more culture-based thing happening here, I think. It's this fucking mess of a cocktail of internalized misogyny paired with learned helplessness, social anxiety, intense sheltering possibly exacerbated by the pandemic shutdowns, peer pressure, and internet purity culture.
I think it's pretty safe to say that fandom is predominantly made up of women and teenage girls. That was true in the 60s in Star Trek fandom, it was true in my generation, and it's still true today. And what I've seen happening today is that young women are absolutely terrified of their own sexual agency -- because the internet keeps telling them that, if you're under 18, it is wrong and bad and unacceptable for you to engage with anything even remotely sexual and how dare you express your sexuality -- and you'd better not do it not just because it's wrong and bad, but also because you are GUARANTEED TO BE PREYED UPON IF YOU DO. SEX IS DANGEROUS ALL OF THE TIME AND YOU'RE LITERALLY TOO YOUNG AND TOO STUPID TO UNDERSTAND ANYTHING SO DON'T TRY TO EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. Because if you're 17 and he's 18, he's a pedophile!!!!!!!!
I just.
So, we've now basically turned an entire generation of young women into the same type of young women who created the BL genre in Japan. These are women who were too afraid to explore their sexuality on their own, and it felt safer to do it with two male characters, because it was always more "okay" for men to be sexual. This is happening here in the West, now.
Slash ships have always been a thing in the West, but not to the degree that they are today. In today's fandom, if you have an M/F ship at all, you are outnumbered by at least 3:1 -- because M/M just "feels" safer for a lot of the current generation.
So, I think young women look at the Remake portrayal of Ashley Graham, and they identify with her. A lot. They're probably around her age, and her personality is very relatable to the kind of girls who play video games. Ashley's clearly introverted, but she's a fast learner who just wants to help, and she's got a good heart and a weird, kind of awkward sense of humor.
And, not only do these girls identify with Ashley, they're probably thirsty as fuck for Leon.
But that's terrifying to them.
Because they have been taught to fear their own sexual agency. The idea that an attractive, traditionally masculine, older man would be romantically or sexually interested in them is immediately categorized in their brains as wrong and bad -- and they don't want to think of Leon in that way.
So... for them, it can't be romantic. It can't be sexual. But there's clearly something there, but Leon would never abuse or prey on anyone so... that bond must be a perfectly innocent familial affection. That's what it is. That's what it has to be, because anything else forces them to face the uncomfortable reality even young women like them go on dates and have sex -- and sometimes, it's with men like Leon.
So, they thirst over Leon at a safe distance through Luis, primarily. Or they self-indulge on reader fic, because that's so much easier to write off as "just a fantasy" and not a statement on who Leon actually is as a character.
And it's just kind of sad, man. It sucks to see this happen to an entire generation of young women.
That's why I don't really get mad when I see the "siblings" shit out in the wild. I just feel sad for those people -- because they can't just say "I don't like the ship." They're so insecure and neurotic that they have to think of a reason why the ship is literally impossible to ever happen so that they don't have to be worried about it.
One day, they'll finally suck a dick for themselves and learn that it's not that serious. It's really fuckin not. Dicks are stupid, and the boys that are attached to them are even dumber.

- Nettles is specifically stated as a brown girl in the book. Take it up with George RR martin. The speculated actress for Nettles is a brown woman. You think she's black? That's okay since she's clearly of mixed heritage. However, you weaponizing race isn't going to go over well since main point is most of us wocs don't want a woc to be given this treatment in the show.
- "She is an adult by westerosi standards"? That doesn't mean anything. Do you also count 14-yo Rhaenyra as grown woman in the book when Daemon was "educating" her about seduction and sex? Do you count the likes of Helaena who was forced to give birth at 13-14 and adult simply because she was married? This is the same excuse people use to excuse the grooming of young girls in what's clearly a patriarchal society.
- IT IS GROOMING!! You're making excuses for Daemon's behavior. I'll give it to OP last time who called out your "i can fix him" behavior when yous said "he isn't all bad". They're 100% right!! We literally have lines from the book where he is teaching her how to act, giving her gifts, etc. She's a lowborn teen girl and he's a middle-aged royal prince. There is no world this isn't grooming!
- Him letting her go does not mean he loves her. Ya'll just be romanticizing sh*t. This is a grown man of 50. He does not need saving from his depressed and paranoid wife who lost her children just because of your misogynoir and self-insert fantasies!
You have to look outside your little bubble and realize Nettles/Daemon isn't liked outside of your little circle because of all the problematic aspects and not because of some shipping war. Is this is how you want a woc to be treated? Do you want to see women being pitted against each other just because you hate the other one? Over some white man...seven help us then
Tumblr media
Her alleged actress and her first canon depiction back in 2015👆🏽 Black people have brown skin too dear(which is how Netty is described). She could be Blackish(never denied that just the insinuation she wasn't Black at all), but why should she even be Valyrian? I'm terribly afraid that the point keeps going over your head🙃
Daemon did groom Rhaenyra, but he isn’t the villain when it comes to Nettles. I’m sorry this isn’t a gotcha moment for you but she was a legal adult who he had a consensual relationship with. Him rescuing Nettles and put her, someone who wouldn’t be missed by anyone except him, above his own safety. That is nothing to sneeze about(and no, you can’t compare their relationship with Dumbnyra because it’s actually supposed to be romantic).
Instead of wanting her to have a rich character arc, you want to put Nettles into a box where she’s Rhaenyra’s Magical Negro/Mammy who helps her wake up and realize that she’s being groomed and wipe her tears away so that she can live another day.
You need to step outside of your bubble and acknowledge your misogynoir(which is a term created by and for Black women to describe our issues, not for whoever you are trying to hijack and use it for). Acknowledge that the sisterhood ends with racism. As a WOC you should know that.
Nettles is the victim of a woman who used racially charged language while ordering her to be murdered in her sleep. Rhaenyra isn’t just some poor unfortunate woman who lost her marbles(being mentally ill doesn’t excuse racism). She’s a queen who uses her power to punch down and she chooses Nettles as one of her many victims.
She chooses to try to make a Black woman(and potentially her baby) into victim(s) of a hate crime. I’m under no obligation to ignore that for the sake of the sisterhood(how dare you suggest I do).
I am under no obligation to sing a racist woman’s praises just because she’s a woman to stick it to the man. If that’s what you want from me or else you’ll accuse me of I’m pitting women against women, then sweetheart, you need to have several seats and take up your issues with GRRM (because he most certainly didn’t write your self-insert to be considered “a clear cut good person who you must worship or else,” which is why you are boiling over people like myself calling out your drivel).

Hi hi :D back again after asking for the free recs (thank you again!), to ask about you're recs on gagaoolala, or did you already do a break down per platform? (and yes I'm procrastinating again...xD)
Of course, I'd be delighted, since source is one of those things I track I can go straight to the spreadsheet for this. I should say I am based out of the USA so what they offer will depend on where you are based as well.
GaGaOOLaLa BL Rec List
In some kind of order, my favorites at the top.
Rate 9/10 - absolutely recommended, faithful to tropes, happy ending, good chemistry, only few flaws or pacing issues, some parts have rewatch potential
Tumblr media
Utsukushii Kare (Japan)
AKA My Beautiful Man
One of the best most Japanese BLs to release in the last decade, as weird and as messed up as any 2000′s yaoi: emo af and hella warped, entirely true to itself with no attempt made to modify its POV for modern sensibilities or current BL fandom. It used seriously old school problematic and kinky tropes, like whipping boy, for a truly uncompromising piece that also manages to hit up themes of communication, consent, and self acceptance. It’s a wonderful BL but uniquely dirty and harsh, in the best possible way - Japanese cinema, uncompromising.
Tumblr media
My Ride (Thai)
Thai BL grew up with this pulp - a truly lovely and special little show featuring the extremely rare pairing of sunshine/sunshine AKA a cinnamon roll couple. Mature explorations of relationships using one of the softest, sweetest and most innocent friends to lovers vehicles. Kindly, overworked doctor meets broken-hearted motorcycle taxi driver in an “other side of the tracks” slow burn romance. The support cast is excellent, making for great friendship groups and family dynamics. With honest queer rep that adds to, but doesn’t impede the story, and genuine conversation about the nature of class, wealth, and classism, not to mention communication, honesty, and respect for boundaries, you can’t go wrong with this show. In other news, I am a sucker for a single dimple.
Our Dining Table AKA Bokura no Shokutaku (Japan)
Lonely salaryman and talented cook gets accidentally adopted by a college kid and his little brother. It’s a quiet & cozy little parable of found family alleviating loneliness. Possibly too slow for some but definitely high up there for me with the best of what Japan can do, it’s only flaw (if I dare say such a thing) is that it is not really “romantic.” Lovely & sweet but the romance beats are being used to build a family relationship, not just couple intimacy, it’s OK with me, but not traditional BL.
Step By Step (Thai)
This was Thailand’s answer to The New Employee, and everything I loaved about that show I loved about this one. This was an office romance between stern boss and sweet subordinate that felt more authentic to an office environment than previous Thai BLs of this ilk. And that authenticity added tension to the narrative and character development (how novel).
Takara & Amagi AKA Takara-kun and Amagi-kun (Japan)
I gnawed on my knuckles and squealed a lot with this show. Reserved cool kid who must learn to communicate to keep the tiny disaster nugget he’s madly in love with. It is beyond charming: soft and gentle, packed with cuteness and high school angst, thirst, & yearning. Was there plot? Not really. Was it emotionally tense and paced well enough for me not to notice? Absolutely. Did I enjoy the hell out of it? Oh yes. Full review.
Minato's Laundromat AKA Minato Coin Laundry AKA Minato Shouji Koin Randorii AKA Minato Shouji Coin Laundry (Japan)
A classic age gap romance where a high school student pursues the man of his dreams (who runs a laundromat). This BL is so steeped in yaoi tropes and archetypes, not to mention a typical romance arc, that it will overload some, but those of who love this genre for its DNA will adore it. It made me very happy because it did everything I want a BL to do - there’s not much more I could ask of a BL than this. It’s the closest Japan has come to perfect live action yaoi since Seven Days (and I never make that comparison lightly). Squee watch-along here.
Rated 8/10
recommended, some concerns around tropes (like dub con) or story structure but still satisfies as solid BL
Tumblr media
Some More - Strongberry short (Korea)
One of my most favorite of Strongberry’s shorts, about a city boy on a bike tour who gets injured and rescued by a taciturn, but (as it turns out) very gay, farmer. Age gap, country mouse/city mouse, SO CUTE. Just too short.
Tumblr media
DNA Says Love You (Taiwan)
DNA deserves extra marks for an upbeat approach to a queer story arc that other shows have systemically mishandled with sadness (in the guise of realism). There is a twist, which I found predictable, but knowing what would happen didn't spoil this show. The leads are luminous and engaging, and it’s full of queer found family representation and an unexpected amount of domesticity, plus it’s Taiwan, so the kisses are great. The last few eps really are special and life/love affirming - and the ending is big-grin charming.
Tumblr media
Love Class (Korea)
This was a fast-moving, bloated, complicated little show with stronger than usual story structure, well-acted if lacking in chemistry, that managed to be very appealing and engaging despite itself. What it lacked in content it more than made up for in pacing. Both bingable and rewatchable.
Rated 7/10:
recommended with reservations i.e. isn’t quite BL, convoluted, not strictly HEA, too short/long, or chemistry issues.
Tumblr media
Red Balloon (Taiwan)
I should probubly do a rewatch, I’ve never done a elevator pitch for this one. It’s been a LONG while. I actually havent’ ever watched it on GaGa, I got is grey years ago.
Tumblr media
Papa & Daddy (Taiwan)
Cliff hanger ending, season 2 coming soon, recast one of the leads. No review because I’m waiting for the full series.
Tumblr media
My Esports Genius Brother (China)
A strangely cute, somewhat incomprehensible, censored magical realism BL micro series about fated mates who balance each other out and must find the courage to stay together.
Tumblr media
Long Time No See - Strongberry (Korea)
One of Strongberry’s few longer pieces and the rating takes into account the fact that I don’t think this is strictly BL. It’s about assassins on either side of a terf war who fall in love not knowing they are on opposite sides. Or do they? Good fight sequences, mature characters, high heat, very suspenseful, AND an HEA. If you like KinnPorsche you will LOVE this one.
Tumblr media
La Cuisine (Thai)
A sweet and kind of pure show, and like Thai desserts perhaps requires too much patience for a layperson. Because of the pacing and the focus on the bad girl character, I did dock it. But if you like stuff in the Oxygen vein, then this show is for you, and far better than most Thai BL pulps. That said, I suspect that I enjoyed it more than many would.
Tumblr media
Step For You -Strongberry short (Korea)
Microfilm from Strongberry about a reporter from the student newspaper who has to interview an older dancer and falls in love with him.
Tumblr media
Private Lessons - Strongberry (Korea)
Another one from Strongberry that I love and given it is age gap and teacher/student (catnip) it shoudl go higher. The chemistry is slightly off though, but stil I do love this one. Certainly world watching especially if this is your trope.
Naked Dinner AKA Zenra Meshi (Japan)
A civil servant and seemingly perfect man has a secret: he likes to eat completely naked. I have to be honest, I didn’t really like much about this show. The central premise was too odd and the main character too clumsy & slow on the uptake. I like the food, but there have been food-set BLs before that failed to meet expectations. Too many of them. This one joined that throng. Good ending tho.
Pure Vanilla (Singapore)
It’s very sweet. Bit awkward acting. I love seeing real tats. I wish Singapore would give us a full proper BL.
Rated 6/10: worth watching but seriously flawed probably around the ending or in narrative structure/cohesion or censorship. I don’t always have notes on these because many I have only watched once and don’t usually recommend.
Being Me (Korea)
River Knows Fish Heart (China) - this BL managed to sneak by the censors probably because it’s not very well acted and low budget. It’s also in Addicted territory, only this time with the jock who falls madly for the nerd and then just moves into his house to takes over his life. The tsundere uke is VERY tsundere and the seme is hella pushy so it goes right into dubcon territory but also it’s very teen angst about it.
Legend of Long Yang Rebirth (China) - whipping boy trope... literally, servant character takes the strap for the prince, who then makes him his bodyguard and lover when he becomes king. Low budget historical, comes off as kind of cosplay wuxia version of Irresistible Love, but we get (in the credits) an actual kiss, and they both live. So yay for small mercies.
Paint With Love (Thai) - For me the mains were unlikeable and the actors had poor chemistry. So while this offered a lot of what I thought I wanted from a Thai BL - mature characters, office setting, adult themes - I’m wasn’t wild about the execution. I suspect Thai pulps are better when they stick to university/high school. This one felt like a better version of Loveless Society (not hard). The side dishes (Yoon & Yacht) gave us more chemistry and a better kiss but had little screen time. It was interesting to see them portray BL actors being shipped and then confessing to actually dating each others. I’m not sure how I feel about the handling of it but it was different from Lovely Writer. In the end, this show was nicely grown up but boring and became a matter of endurance for me. I can’t ever see myself rewatching it.
As if You Whisper - Strongberry (Korea)
My Pistachio - Strongberry (Korea)
Sonnet 18 (Korea)
Sweet Curse - Strongberry (Korea) - low-gore atmospheric horror but with very high heat BL.
The End Of The World, With You AKA Bokura no Micro na Shuumatsu (Japan)
Rated 5/10: watch it if you have nothing better to do but don’t expect much, it’s a total hot mess. A lot of these are shorts.
Faded (Taiwan)
Meet Me Outside (Pinoy)
Suddenly Last Summer (Korea)
Fanatic Love (China)
Every Moment that I Think of You (China)
We Are Gamily (Taiwan)
Innocent (Taiwan)
Light (Taiwan)
Two Weddings and a Funeral (Korea)
Secret Roommate -Strongberry (Korea)
Love Stage!! AKA Rabu Suteiji (Japan) - the Thai version is heaps better
Top Secret Together (Thai)
My Personal Trainer - Strongberry (Korea)
One Last Order (Korea)
List current as of Oct 2023 only.
Some shows that ALSO air on Viki in the USA may not be present, since I prefer to watch on Viki's UX.

Big problems
Tumblr media
Ah, another Bagginshield before the month is out. This time for @sunnyrosewritesstuff...
Part II of Irvel's magic! -> Part I
AU Prompt: Shrunken (Tiny)
Dialogue Prompt: Everything went according to plan
Words: 1310
Characters: Thorin x Bilbo
Warnings: A potion gone wrong right!
Tumblr media
Trembling with trepidation, Ori led the king and his consort into the secluded, hidden cave in which the elusive sorceress abided.
“Irvel?” he called tentatively, wondering whether it was naïve of him to expect her to be in the same exact spot as the last time he had sought her out. “I have brought you new petitioners.”
A subtle chiming noise resounded, and then a hazy being—all wreathed in light—stepped out from behind a boulder.
“Ori, the ever-beautiful,” she cried joyously and rushed towards him. “I had barely dared hope that you’d come back. After all, you seemed rather displeased with my services the last time we’ve spoken.”
Grimacing, Ori waved a trembling hand at his companions. “This is Thorin II, the king of the Longbeards, and his consort, Bilbo Baggins from the Shire.”
Looming over them, Irvel bent at the hip to inspect her curious visitors more closely. “Indeed,” she hummed with vivid interest. “What can I do for you then?”
“I—we have come to ask you for a feat of magic,” Bilbo piped up bravely before any of the others could say anything. “As you can easily see, I am considerably shorter than my husband.”
“And that is problematic? Why?” Irvel inquired, her eyes drifting back to Ori pensively—apparently, she had never considered height differences to be a reason for strife or dissatisfaction. The thought seemed to intrigue and fascinate her, though, for she cocked her head and waved her hand, inviting Bilbo to continue his exposé.
“Yes,” the valiant Hobbit murmured, somewhat shamefaced. “In certain situations, it can be quite tedious! Anyway, if it is within your powers, I’d beseech you to make me grow beyond the natural size of my people so that I may be a worthy and imposing consort to my beloved king.”
For a while, Irvel merely regarded Ori dreamily as she was lost in deep thought.
“So be it,” she finally declared. “As you can imagine, there will be tasks and challenges for you to fulfil before I can—in good conscience—bend my mind and powers to your peculiar problem.”
Thorin nodded tersely—Ori had warned him that the services of the sorceress would not be free and that all the gold under the Mountain could not buy the favour of one who did not want for any material possession.
Thus, they all listened spell-bound to Irvel’s demands—Thorin and Bilbo were asked to ferret out old friends of Irvel’s who had been scared underground by the encroaching darkness, to find a hidden cave on the other side of the hill and depose a beautiful gem on a natural dais, and to root out an infestation of huge hornets in the nearby woods.
As soon as they tackled the first of their trials, they realised that they would have to work together to succeed—thankfully, they were by now so bonded in trust and love that they did not hesitate one moment before meeting the ambitious challenge head-on.
Undaunted by danger and potential death, they put their experience and their combined wits to good use.
When they finally returned to Irvel’s cave, they found the lady entertaining Ori with fascinating stories. Neither Bilbo nor Thorin truly appreciated the fact that their friend was being served sparkling wine and fed golden berries while they were covered in grime and hornet goo.
“My King,” Ori squeaked and sprang to his feet to bow, feeling instinctively that he had not made the best impression, idling around, and enjoying the enchanting company of a woman who didn’t stop telling him how utterly gorgeous he was.
“I see you have not failed,” Irvel purred, visibly pleased. “Come, sit and relax. I shall have the potion ready promptly.”
Without further ado, she retired into the bowels of the cave.
As Bilbo and Thorin partook in the lavish feast that had been laid before Ori, they heard distant rumbling and smelled the occasional whiff of something spicy and sweet filling the air.
Before long, Irvel returned, holding two tall glasses which she handed to her new guests. “Drink,” she encouraged.
Wary, Thorin gave the ominously bubbling beverage a sniff; as he looked over though, he saw that Bilbo was already throwing back his glass and—not wanting to be called a coward—the king promptly joined him.
Unlike after Ori’s wish, there was now a definite and rather immediate change—the air seemed to thrum and sing around them, and then, there was a loud rumble swelling into a sonorous bang.
When the dense fog of magic that had suddenly filled the cave cleared, Ori’s eyes bulged out of their sockets.
“Oh Irvel!” he cried in dismay. “You’ve made both of them smaller. This is not what we agreed upon!”
“Everything went according to plan,” Irvel replied calmly, a cryptical smile hovering on her sensual lips. “They’ve successfully—and rather quickly, if I may add—fulfilled tasks that might have stumped a giant. It seems to me that the change they need is entirely in their minds rather than in their bodies.”
The outraged exclamations of protest and anger from her customers were, unfortunately for them, changed into barely audible, irritated chirps on account of Thorin and Bilbo not being much bigger than young bunnies.
“Thorin?” a worried, flustered voice resounded from the mouth of the cave, far above them. “I do not think that this was such a good idea, and you have been gone for so long!”
“That is Balin,” Ori whispered nervously. “He’s certainly come to retrieve his king. How are we to explain this?”
By this time, he was seriously distressed. As a matter of fact, he was afraid that—as he had been the one to lead his king into this disastrous magical catastrophe—he would be held accountable for the results.
“Worry not,” Irvel smiled placidly. “The spell will only last until the next full moon. It seems to me that these two are highly strung and under a lot of pressure. Maybe, spending some time worrying about all the minute things they master so easily in their daily life will teach them more appreciation for the blessings they’ve got, instead of hankering after irrelevant alterations.”
Seeing the wisdom in her words, Ori bowed his head reverently, but his spine still tingled with discomfort and guilt as Balin burst into the inner chamber.
His eyes were wide and wild, and his hair was in total disarray.
“What has happened here?” he asked explosively as he took in the unusual scene. “What did you do to our king, witch?”
Shrugging, Irvel scooped up the two shrunken royals and handed them over to the old dwarf as if they were coins. “I’ve made sure that they got…a change of perspective, so to say.”
Seeing how distraught the newcomer was, her smile mellowed. “It’s not for long, I promise. Just keep them safe and warm. Give them a puzzle or something.”
“A puzzle? They are the rulers of our people…” Balin tore at his hair in despair. “What are we to do now?”
Letting her luminous, wise gaze sweep from Ori to Balin, Irvel let her head drop to the side in a quizzical expression of mild amusement. “They are not dead,” she commented dryly. “I am sure there are many competent dwarrows to convey their meaning and will to their people—moreover, this might teach you to truly listen to the words they speak rather than to be cowed or amused by their physical presence.”
“Witch!” Balin grunted, but his voice held a distinct undertone of humour and begrudging admiration. “Very well. May I remove them from your esteemed presence then?”
Nodding ponderously, Irvel rose to her feet and gave Thorin and Bilbo a fond pat on the head. “Be good,” she warned, “and do come visit me very soon!”

💔📝☯️💋 for the ask thing!
💋 : is there any ships out there you absolutely hate for genuinely no good reason at all. like its not problematic in the slightest, if anything it's one of the better ones, you just cannot bring yourself to enjoy it
any ship involving jayfeather or shadowsight honestly . . . in my head they will forever be aroace so whenever i see any ship art for either of them im just like . he would NOT be mates with them !! lol
as for specific ships, ive never been a fan of shadowsight and sunbeam or sunbeam and rootspring or leafpool and hawkfrost... to me with the sunbeam x shadow/root ships it just feels like people are shipping her with any tom she interacts with as a way to be like "look! this character would be a much better mate than nightheart!" and arent actually putting any thought into the ship outside of that. leafpool and hawkfrost just doesnt appeal 2 me though. im a mothpool truther <3 hehe
📝 : if commanded to, without warning, approximately how many paragraphs could you write about your favorite warrior cat before you ran out of things to say
i could write an entire essay on nightheart's character i think. probably 8 whole paragraphs until i start repeating myself haha
same goes for leafpool too as shes one of my other favs , i could probably write a whole essay about her as well :3
☯️ : what dynamic between two cats has got you up at night pacing for hours? (romantic, platonic, familial, etc)
the relationship between the three and squirrelflight/leafpool has always been interesting to me and god i wish it was explored more in canon... i feel like we never really get to see hollyleaf's true Road To Redemption and her coming to terms with everything and forgiving leafpool and squirrelflight until she dies. i really wish she wasnt killed off in the last hope btw that still makes me so mad grgargharhgar harghaarhgar hgarragh she could have been so cool and such a good character but rargh. rghrgrrrgh
honestly i love any dynamic between a cat and their parent bc thers so many rocky parent/kit relationships in wc and i love them all to death because i love projecting my own parental issues on to them . this also includes nightheart/sparkpelt and frostpaw/curlfeather and sunbeam/berryheart and the three/leafpool (and squirrelflight)... even rainflower/crookedstar and eventually crookedstar/silverstream, the ending of crookedstar's promise where he struggles to even spend time with silverkit after willowbreeze and minnowkit and willowkit's death is Heartbreaking, when he's still grieving and pushing away his one remaining kit who doesn't even know he's her father... gah. ghhra.a.rghgr hrg ahgr hahrhgh (positive) (i love relationships like this theyre so good)
💔 : have you ever lost friends over warriors related topics?
ill be real ive never actually had friends who like warrior cats. like i knew people in 5th grade who did but we never talked about the characters or discussed anything about the books we just roleplayed it during recess . . .
i do think that i probably turn a lot of Potential Friends away just because i dare to like a character that the majority of the fandom hates...which is unfortunate that the fandom has gotten to that point where liking/disliking a character will get you mass blocked by all the popular wc blogs but. oh well! at least i know im not alone in liking nightheart, there's at least a handful of nightheart fans out there <3

All these defenses of religion as "WELL PEOPLE CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT SO LONG AS THEY'RE NOT ANTI-SCIENCE SOCIOPATHS" would have more weight if it wasn't the equivalent of "pink" rich white girlboss feminism.
A lot of these arguments are coming from privileged white people who are back-handedly defending the regressive shitheads they are close to. Whatever their philosophy, the overarching point is, they want to sleep with / do business with people who advocate a problematic thing, and they want you to shut up and back off because they have no intention of turning on that world that feeds them. They demand the right to be closeted progressives who can reap all the rewards from unjust traditional systems while hiding who they are irl.
They know tradfems "topping from the bottom" and theism are both nonsensical excuses for rich white men to talk hip while maintaining the 1880s. They know both are irrational and exploitative and defended with violence. But they are happy and comfortable and successful in that world, and how dare you demand they abandon it! They mortgage property (on stolen land) there! So they hem and haw and ah shucks and end up bravely declaring that believing in Jesus is okay while you wear a hair bonnet, so long as you're kind about it.
And that had nothing to do with a considered philosophical position. It is entirely because they need that world as badly as the evil shits who actually think it's good.
Neoliberalism is 100% making deals with the Devil so he will keep paying you with ill-gotten goods. And this is why, when fascism arises, they are utterly powerless to stop it. Because they need all of the things it does, they just hope it can be "nicer." So they can feel better every time they pass the pile of (brown) bodies it creates.
If you know atheism and equality are right, then you have no justification for arguing for exceptions for jackasses who oppose them. You're only doing that because you're keeping a toe in that world.
And that makes you exactly as guilty and shit as they are, you white supremacist coward.
Regressive nonsense kills us. No one gets a pass because they're your brother.
If you think so, you are as much in the way of peace and us reaching our potential as the worst person on Earth.

The Umbrella Academy Season 3 was um... Well it was something I'll give them that. Spoilers warning.
I felt like all the Umbrellas became really annoying like they just become the worst versions of themselves. Luther feels like he got dumber or poorer at making decisions, Five got more egocentric, Klaus even more irresponsible. Also speaking of that, the amount of stupidity that they display is astounding. Like they kept asking Ben stuff that only their own Ben would know and expects him to get it, well of course he's gonna be mad. They also kinda provoked the Sparrows into the first fight by saying stuff like this was their house and whatever as if they don't understand that changing stuff in the pass changes things in the future. Don't get me started on how Allison still expected to find Claire and even how she managed to get in to Patrick's house in the first place. The cherry on top was also her downward spiral to villainy (yes, even as an Allison fan in the previous seasons, one has to admit that she is the Villain now and I'm guessing also the villain for season 4). She became extremely unlikeable. Not to mention *that* horrific moment.
Also the Sparrows were such a wasted potential. They were hyped up only to have half die off by episode 5 or 6. I don't get why people like Sloane so much. She's the most generic 'nice girl next door' with a Juliette complex ever. Her personality is mostly just being nice. At least she's really smart. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate her, I just don't live for her. And I find her and Luther's love story to be extremely rushed and two dimensional. But hey at least it's not as problematic or toxic as Allison and Luther. Jayme and Alphonso have cool concepts, but they also had problems. Idk if it's the acting but Jayme feels so robotic in any scenes that are not fight scenes. Alphonso is also pretty unlikable and his powers are inconsistent (but was never explained in the show why it's not consistent so it just makes it seem like plot armor). Marcus is... I don't even know what to do with this one since he got like 17 seconds of screen time. The only ones I actually like is Fei. She actually has a distinct personality; cold, calculating, smart, but underneath that veneer, someone who cares about her siblings. Also Christopher was alright, but cmon people, let's be real. He was a floating cube with no dialogues who got barely any screen time.
On top of that, I feel like most of the conflict in the series could easily be resolved by simply talking to each other. If Five told the family his plan, most of the fights would've never happened. Now don't get me wrong, I love me some dysfunctional family dynamics and I get that years of childhood trauma leaves a significant impact on your adult character, but it's been 3 seasons, at some point they gotta show some progress to character development. Why are they still so bad at communicating after 2 apocalypses?? Here they kinda feel like their Season 1 selves, slightly better or worst at that.
I love this series and I want to love this season but I just have so many gripes with it, well mostly just the annoying character regressions and a couple of 'this happened because it needed to happen don't ask questions' moments. Viktor Hargreaves being trans is like the least of the season's problem (also I don't get why people keep saying that the show makes a big deal of Viktor's transitioning when it was literally covered in like a couple minutes of dialogue). In fact Viktor's character is, dare I say, one of the ones that I actually like. He became reasonable but still compassionate. A perfect contrast to Allison's arc.
The season's not all bad. I think there were some touching moments and the Sparrows, as much of a disappointment they are, had awesome powers. Glad to know Reggie's motives and why he build the hotel etc. Idk I have mixed feelings about this season. Hopefully season 4 would be better.
Edit I can't believe I forgot arguably the best highlight of the season; the footloose dance sequence 👁👄👁
TL;DR season 3 was definitely *something*

Predictions about ch363(and the next chapters maybe)
1. We stay in the fortress and we see wtf is happening with Bakugou and everything in general
a) Bakugou dies, thus haters throughout the world celebrate about it, with many seeking to comfort his hot milf mother, quite possibly NTRing Masaru in the process
b) Bakugou meets with Tenko in the Vestige Realm somehow and they talk and/or Tenko helps him revive somehow
c) Bakugou is powered by Second’s Quirk from a distance
d) We get to see what is with this cloud and change of weather, if it is from Bakugou’s attack, a new Hero’s arrival or Inasa Yoarashi from Shiketsu along with several others to aid in the fight
e) Bakugou gets a Quirk awakening(if he hasn’t already) and just wakes up from death in the same position as Shigaraki did in the war arc(and then we cut off to another POV). Now Horikoshi will try to give Bakugou fans the satisfaction they deserve after giving the Bakugou haters what they wanted.
f) Hori just gives us a small sneak peek of a light shining brightly within Bakugou, before cutting off to another POV, thus blueballing many fans and causing an eruption in the fandom.
g) We immediately switch off to another fight immediately, leaving no context on what will happen next with Bakugou, thus causing utter chaos in the fandom, while Horikoshi is laughing maniacally from his home(which is the best and funniest option, thus the most probable one)
2. We go to the mountain fight with AFO, Endeavor, Hawks, Jirou and Tokoyami.
a) Horikoshi finally embraces his full potential in providing fanservice for problematic characters and provides us a full nude fully restored AFO. We get to see if he is buff or not, if he has a thicc or a flat ass, important, very important questions really.
b) Hori is a coward and just has AFO manifest a shadow quirk to cover himself or a quirk that can make him a new suit immediately so that we don’t see him nude for PG-13 reasons🙄.
c) We get to see AFO in full power, showing the same final villain energy he had in kamino and in the nana fight, terraforming the landscape at his will or showing more body horror from his body
d) We get to see wtf is happening inside the AFO Quirk and what the vestiges are doing
e) Idk Hawks and Endeavor do sth problematic and AFO just trolls with them
3. We go to the Ochako, Asui and Toga fight
a) We get to see both Toga and Ochako fighting and talking in very suggestive positions and words perspectively, with Asui being in a different panel looking offended at all of this. This will be a reference to the Live Slug Reaction meme from here that will then be called Live Tsuyu Reaction. This will indicate some things: 1. The meme has breached containment from here and Hori has seen it and liked it well enough to include it in the manga, 2. He has a secret tumblr account, thus not only he has seen it, but that also confirms that he is the same fandom trash like the rest of us, and brings on a hunt to see where is his account, 3. He just knows about tumblr and just lurks there to feed off of our suffering
b) Ochako reveals she is bisexual and in love with Toga and tries to calm her down by kissing her, with Live Tsuyu Reaction still in this, plus stopping all the conflict. This is obviously Hori’s redemption card to the fandom for daring to even imply even in subtext of the existence of Bisexual Mineta. A shipping war between izuochas and izutogas will erupt, but as a multishipper and a izutogachako shipper i will simply look upon the drama like a roman emperor sitting on my throne eating grapes while watching gladiator fights from the colosseum.
c) Gang Orca is very approving with wanting to save Toga and Ochako’s coming out, thus giving him more screentime, which he absolutely deserves.
4. We go to the Shouto and Dabi fight
a) We see wtf is happening with Dabi’s Quirk and if it’s Quirk awakening or sth else
b) Stain appears out of nowhere hysterically wailing and creeching about how the AM statue was ruined like the cringy failed AM fanboy he is and then goes berserk at all the Heroes around him for being fake heroes that couldn’t protect the statue until either Shouto or Dabi or Tenya beats him up
5. We are transported to the headquarters where AM and Naomasa are there and see what they are doing or if they are attacked by a villain there as well(maybe Gnasly or what his name is)
6. We are transported to the parking lot where the trap was laid and we see the fight of Aoyama, Fatgum and the Heroes against Kunieda, where Aoyama affirms his loyalty.
7. We go the Gigantomachia holding facility and we see the kids kicking ass and maybe Mina beating the shit out of the villain that killed Midnight
8. We are transported to the hospital with Spinner, Shoji and the rest
a) We try to see what is going on with Spinner
b) We get some Spinner and Shoji interaction and talk mid-fight
c) We get Shoji full face reveal
d) We see Stain appearing to confront Spinner for sth completely inane while talking derogatory words towards him, thus angering Spinner and causing to fight against Stain(and maybe beating his ass)
e) We see Kurogiri and what is going on in his head
f) We see more about Present Mic
g) MR COMPRESS APPEARING WITH A HOSPITAL GOWN SHOWING HIS SOLE ASSCHEEK TO THE WHOLE WORLD
9. We see what is going on with Izuku
a) He is shown STILL flying over to the mainland while it immediately cuts off to another POV
b) He is facing some nomus that appear to try and to stall him fom reaching the shore
c) He arrives either on his own or with help in the mountains and fights AFO as it was kinda teased in the shonen jump cover
d) he is fighting a bunch of seagulls or a villain that controls flocks of seagulls
e) He meets with Star’s friends and gets carried on in the jets to the location he needs to go (either the fortress or the mountains)
f) He meets with some international Heroes that decided to come forth regardless of their countries needing help or being prevented from and when he does try to tell them of his plan to save Tomura he gets bitchslapped a la Will Smith because how dare any show basic human empathy to Tomura and not try to kill him at any cost 🙄 (yes i am kinda salty about some stuff, sorry). Immediately after that we either have the chapter ending and then: 1. have Izuku prove the mass murder allegations from the 3rd movie right, 2. Turn the other cheek around when Shigaraki dusts them in the fight, 3. the chapter ending and then we cut off to another POV, or the slap was so hard that we change panels and the narrative moving straight up to the next POV and then not having to see Izuku again FOR 5-20 CHAPTERS ONCE AGAIN, thus showing that Horikoshi is self-aware of this and is just trolling with his fanbase and that he remembered that he had another favorite alongside Shigaraki to put through pain and angst.
(Anyways that is all i can think of. If any of this is true, feel free to hit me with the Apollo and the ball of prophecy meme pic. Also i wrote this at 16/8/2022 3:30am to see if i predicted it correctly)

That tweet is kinda pessimistic but insulting seems more than a bit much? She's just talking about how the book doesn't really have an interesting hook, and given how bad the super editions have been I get why she might think even people who voted for it wouldn't bother buying it if there wasnt any sign it was worth it. I don't really know what's insulting about that unless you somehow feel personally attacked by... her thinking it'll do poorly? It's not like the people voting on a poll where the only information you get is the names of a couple random character have anything to do with what warriors actually puts out. It's entirely on the erins to write good books and harper collins to advertise effectively, why would a fan feel insulted that she thinks they did the fans so dirty even they wouldn't be interested? Are they insulted at the implications of having standards? How dare she... assume youre not so blinded by affection as to spend money just because youre a fan of the character in the title? Was it supposed to be inherently interesting by the fact that it was a theoretically interesting character? This fandom really gets upset at the tamest steps out of line sometimes......
She doesn’t phrase it like the book concept itself is the problem, she phrases it like the character himself is the problem and I think that’s why people are upset, especially considering that Riverstar isn’t problematic or anything he’s just a chill and potentially interesting dude that a fair amount of people are attached to. Her tweet isn’t about how uninspired the book might be or the declining quality of super editions, it’s solely about it how she views Riverstar as too boring for anyone to want to buy a book about him, even those that like him. I know it’s just a small thing, but her wording has just left people a bit upset because Riverstar himself is the one being attacked with no given reason for it. I feel like if she worded things a bit differently then people wouldn’t get upset. I believe she did do a video on it that I haven’t seen yet so she probably explains her thoughts and reasoning a lot better there since there isn’t a character limit like on Twitter so there’s much less room for things to be misinterpreted or poorly worded, but for now we’re just talking in the vacuum of just this one tweet.

Night one rankings! Read if you dare:
Tumblr media
STAN STAN STAN
1. Blue (prev 1)- I knew I was right about her. She’s so cute and cool and I get the vibe that she’s gonna be good this season. I love her so much
2. Felicia (prev 4)- I am choosing to stan now because I think she’s gonna come in for the kill and I am so ready for it. Also good for her for not caring about her age! I’m a bit scared for her rn since she’s on the block but if she can get herself off of it I will be very happy :).
Good Vibes
3. Mecole (prev 6) - I’m binging her up because I think she’s gonna be a good player. She seems like a strategic queen and I could see her making it pretty far. She has good potential, maybe she’ll even be stan worthy if she keeps it up.
4. Jag (prev 2)- Not much has changed tbh. He only got booted down because others showed me more than he did, but I still have faith in him. May he continue to not disappoint me!
Give me a little more
5. Kirsten (prev 7)- She goes up a little bit after mentioning an all girls alliance, but the term girls girl gives me war flashbacks and she was being a little braggy. She’s giving me slightly off vibes but I think I could like her if she did a little more. Maybe we’ll get something since she’s on the block now.
6. Bowie (prev 3)- I just felt like she could have done more with her intro? I still think she’ll be fine as of now, but I didn’t get much other than she’s a lawyer who’s also a DJ.
Not as bad as I thought
7. Hisam (prev 11) - I actually really liked his intro a lot. He seems like a nicer version of Michael and kinda killed it in this competition, so maybe he’ll turn out to be lit. Sorry for misjudging you man.
8. Jared (prev 10)- He seems pretty chill and normal as of now. I know I was super wary of him before, but I will say that it’s super interesting to have him and his mom on the season together. Good luck to him moving forward. Hopefully he doesn’t stay on the block this week.
9. America (prev 14)- I actually don’t hate her.....yet. She seems a little boing and I didn’t get much from her, but she wasn’t horribly annoying or problematic like I thought she would be. Maybe she’ll totally surprise me.
10. Luke (prev 15)- I still don’t fucking trust this man, but I don’t hate him as much as I thought I would. His art is cool. I don’t think he’s going to do much though. Follower in a big alliance at most.
Boring
11. Reilly (prev13)- She moves up a little bit because she’s not as bitchy as I expected, but I just don’t see her being interesting at all. Maybe a little quirky, but all of that seemed super forced like she’s trying to be funny and different. I don’t think she realizes how basic she is.
12. Matt (prev 8)- He didn’t do anything wrong; he only moved down because others moved up. He just doesn’t seem interesting and I can’t bring myself to care about him. All I know is that he’s a deaf swimmer. Hopefully he does well though because the disability representation is super cool.
Please shut up
13. Izzy (prev 5)- I can’t explain how she went down other than she’s just fucking annoying. Just so incredibly cringe. Trying way too hard to be cool and liked, thinks she’s the shit for some reason, loud and obnoxious. She almost had me with the Tiffany and Da’Vonne stanning but then had to throw Kaycee’s name in there and ruin it. I want to like her so bad bc she’s a queer musician but goddamn she’s making it hard.
14. Cameron (prev 9)- He’s just annoying, sorry. I hate his hair, I hate his voice. He just bores me idk. Like.....they could have gotten anyone else. Why him.
15. Red (prev 12)- He went down because others went up and he somehow got even more annoying. I was ready for him to shut up as soon as he opened his mouth. I’m sick of the hillbillies!!!!
I hate you
16. Cory (prev 16)- He’s the only one other than Blue to not move, and that’s for a reason. The more he fucking talks the more I hate him. Smug ass 5′7 21 yo who thinks he has a really good chance at winning the game because ooooh......he’s so smart and athletic and is the most persuasive person ever! Literally stfu. I hope they torture him in the nether region (still laughing about that name). I literally screamed for joy when he got dragged.

Why is it thumbs up to feminize one character that you might prefer and not the other - besides Rules for thee, not for me? I'm genuinely confused by your explanation
I’m genuinely confused too—I said I do like omega/fem!Luke in many fics?? Especially ones where he has a backbone?
Idk why people are constantly trying to polarize me in this fandom. For the last time, I like both. BOTH. I’m the ultimate switch, okay? In any pairing I ship. My true character preference is just switching, but since it’s so rare in this ship I try to diversify my portfolio so to speak instead lol.
And I never gave a thumbs down to anyone!! Y’all read/write whatever filthy shit you want, I’ll probably join you! Does that mean I’m never allowed to take interest (by hitting the like button, how dare) in a reflection about potentially problematic parts of the media we consume or enjoy fandom critique even if I don’t agree with all of it? Should I not give my honest opinion on my own blog when asked? Yeesh, guys.
Here’s my final word for the night: I will consume media how I want to, be as selective as I do or don’t want to be, and you. can. too. And YES I may like another post in the future that talks about something else lucemond/another pairing may or may not reflect about our society (I don’t personally believe it can do much more besides maaaybe perpetuate, it’s just fiction in the end) bc this shit fascinates me, so if you’re going to take everything I like or reblog on here as my personal manifesto and/or as an attack on you personally then PLEASE unfollow me for your own sake.
I never want to hurt anyone but I also need you guys to calm down about this and either believe me when I say I wasn’t out here to shame anyone or just simply unfollow me and move on. Mkay?
