Hi, do you have any beginner tips for lifting/getting into the gym? I no longer want to be a scrawny waifish butch and instead wanna be able to pick up my gf and look like mid 80s Bruce… If you’re comfortable talking about it I’d love to hear if you have any tips… I’ve been researching and have learned that diet is a huge part in building muscle but as far as the gym goes I’m lost… I’m honestly mostly just nervous because I have no clue where to start and don’t want some dude to help me (nothing wrong honest help I’m just shy and get embarrassed)… Thank you!!!
hi king 🤝🏻
Tumblr media
im so happy 2 talk about this cos im in my musclebound era again
disclaimer what i know is a mix of what i learned from my dad and reddit threads LOL and my own trial and error. weightlifting really is the gayass journey of all time 💪🏼😋
first gonna keep it real with u ive lost a lot of muscle mass from stupid life events n being sad lol but im actually getting back into a routine for the first time in over a year. so i haven't properly lifted anything heavier than the 15lbs dumbells i got at home 😂 when i was once able to press more than my weight ✊🏼😔 BUT form is so much more important than lifting heavy. u will get better results lifting at a weight that you can control and build up lifting heavier over time 👍🏼 which i can go more in depth about how to do that. good form is so sexy and makes u feel and look so badass
u might find more eloquent lifters out there who talk about the mind and muscle connection and visualization. it's really cool stuff that connects practicing mindfulness as u workout which is what makes weightlifting so meditative to me. this will also help u maintain good form and i think nourishes a healthy mindset toward working out/yourself in general
n you are definitely right about diet playing a huge part. don't worry about bulking/cutting when ur first starting out, most important thing is making sure you're getting enough protein. if u are iron deficient i would look into taking a supplement! dont know all the science but iron keeps ur oxygen flowing better, so your stamina can be down if ur iron count is low. my mindset about diet is the simpler the better and u should never be miserable lol. i will never give up beer & pizza & a good time 🫡
second most important thing is sleep. make sure u get enough.
1. back/shoulders and biceps
going to the gym can be a little scary, but that's where having a routine helps so much 🧑‍💻doing one of those dynamic workout routines u find on an instagram reel every now and then can be fun and i recommend it. BUT doing a random workout Everytime u workout will make it difficult to see results. doing the same workouts is how u can see ur progression better and focus on good form. im talking about learning the basics of benching, squatting, and deadlifting. 😜✌🏼
if u can, i would aim a routine of 3-4 times a week. I kept it like this:
2. leg day and abs
3. chest and triceps
what helped in staying consistent w going to the gym was having a set time where i would go. ritualistic
4th extra day: fun cardio like interval training or boxing. OR if i was feeling like i just needed a chill day a slow incline walk on treadmill/outside😊 then do some really intense stretching/foam rolling
here is an example of a chest/tris day
Tumblr media
The 3 "T's" stand for tiers starting with the most difficult exercises, so I could use most of the energy I have on it.
To elaborate further on how to see progress: say this week you're able to bench press 60lbs. Next week you try 70lbs on your last rep and it's kinda hard. The third week, you bench 60lbs again, and it feels a little easier now. The fourth week, you're benching 70lbs on your last two sets. By the fifth week, you find you're able to do your entire workout with 70! Etc repeat etc
when i first started i kept one of those tiny composition books w different workouts and id also keep track of how much i was lifting when i reached a new pr/mile time/etc. u can also just keep this in ur notes app. but i found having the paper in front of me was more efficient than continuously looking at my phone and fighting the urge to check apps in between sets lol. also if i was getting texts id have No Idea which just helped me reinforce the gym was Me Time
before u buy into a gym membership tho, take advantage if they have a free trial. u can find what time is least busy/if the vibe fits for u.
another tip. put a photo 1985 bruce on ur wall trust me this will help.
I can go more indepth about specific workouts or if u got other questions, lmk!
U got this!

Cas has to get something out of the bottom out of the shoulder bag he's taken to carrying around and asks Dean to hold it for him. Dean is immediately straining with it bc it's massively massively heavy (but doesn't put down. Pride.) and gets out:
"Cas, what the fuck is in this?"
"Just things I find interesting."
"Like what? Dumbells?"
Cas, pissy, "No."
Then he pulls some things out including: a slab of concrete, a huge dinosaur tooth, a tiny, flimsy black box-
"What's in there?"
Cas shakes it. "The leftovers from an imploded universe. It's incredibly dense. If this box were opened it would likely destroy the earth."
"And you keep it in your bag?!"
"It's interesting."
"Dude, what if someone steals it?"
"I can look after my things, Dean."
"I don't want a ticking time bomb just swinging around willy nilly."
Snatching the bag back, "Where else would I put it? I can no longer reach into the ether. Everything could be taken from me at any second."
And Dean is like. Fuck he's right. He's completely untethered. The thought makes him nervous, for some reason. Like Cas might float away (even with the anchor of his slab of concrete).
"Well, what if I made a space for you?"
Suspicious Cas squint.
"In Baby, I mean. Bobby could make us up a cursebox, and maybe we could see about a spell to make the thing lighter. I don't see her hitting 80 with this thing in the trunk."
Confused Cas squint.
"But that's where you keep your weaponry. To keep you safe."
"Hell, what's safer than you? We can shuffle some things around. I'll bet Bobby has some storage ideas, you know how the old man loves a project."
Cas has stopped squinting and started staring, and Dean doesn't know if he's offended or touched.
"It's, you know," Dean falters, "you don't have to."
"You would do that for me?"
"You're -" he's not family, not yet, but every twist of the road seems to bump him up closer. Some other label keeps getting tangled in the back of Dean's throat, something between 'confidante' and 'mine forever', "You're my friend." He settles on, and he didn't even sound choked up, score 1 for Winchester.
"Thank you, Dean," Cas says, and there's almost a smile on his face, some subtle lift around the eyes and mouth. "If I could, I might put this moment in my bag."
"Dork. Anyway, did you find the blade we needed?"
"I did. It was under the sandwich toaster."
"The....okay whatever, Mary Poppins. Let's ice this thing."
...
When they make the box, Dean insists they leave one side free of sigils, despite Bobby's grumbling about needing to do extra math to make it work. He presses Cas’s hand onto the empty space, and tells him to make it burn in a print, which he does, with a question in his eyes.
"So that everyone knows it's yours."

The House We Built: Part 2 (Miles Miller x Reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: You didn’t think your hard work would pay off, but thanks to the coffee can and your father-in-law, it does.
“Can you please sign the ledger sir?” Miles asked the guest after handing him his room key for California.
The young man shakily signed the ledger in front of him before thanking Miles and heading to his room. Miles looked over his shoulder to find that Benny was still asleep on his little pillow pile, his puppy tucked under his arm and his crochet blanket covering his little form. Miles stooped low to the ground to brush away some of Benny’s blonde hairs from his forehead before returning to his place. Outside, a thunderstorm was starting to brew, the clouds darkening up to the west and the trees rustling furiously. Miles had just hoped his father had made it home safely and that at any minute, his mother would come walking through the door.
Miles tried to fiddle with the coffee can on the shelf under the counter. It had grown so heavy to the point where he could barely lift it up and it felt like lifting a fifty pound dumbell. A low rumble of thunder made the glass case behind the desk rattle a little before two women came rushing through the front door to ask for the last available rooms. Miles checked them both in before he looked over once again to find Benny just starting to wake up, lifting his sleepy little head with tufts of his blonde hair sticking up at all ends.
“Oh Benny,” Miles chuckled. “You look like you just stuck your finger in the electrical outlet.”
Miles tried to smooth out Benny’s hair before the bell on the desk rang. When Miles popped back up, there was his father, that same crooked, lopsided grin that ran in the family that just reeked of mischief.
“How was it out there, Dad?” Miles asked.
“Shitty,” Otis chuckled. “It’s gonna thunder all night and I had to go get your Mom from the hospital once her shift was done.”
Miles sighed. If anything, the thunderstorms made him a little nervous, but at least they would have water in the lake and in the reservoirs.
“Oh by the way,” Otis said, pulling an envelope out of the pocket on his yellow flannel shirt. “You’re welcome.”
He handed the envelope to Miles who opened it. Miles’s deep blue eyes went wide before they shot back to his father who started laughing. “What the fuck?!” Miles exclaimed under his breath.
“You like it?”
“This has to be six hundred dollars!” Miles hissed under his breath. “How the fuck did you get six hundred dollars?”
“Well, a rival pit boss on the track got a little in over his head,” Otis cackled. “I just helped him along.”
“He owed you money didn’t he?”
“Oh yeah,” Otis laughed.
Miles didn’t question it any further. He took the cash from the envelope and stuck it in the coffee can. That was it, no more money could fit in it.
“Sweetheart?” Miles called when he saw you coming around the corner. “Sweet Pea!”
You happily made your way to Miles before he swept you up in a hug and before you scooped Benny right up off his pillow pile. “You doin ok Miles?” you asked him.
“Guess what just went into the jar?”
You nearly gasped. “Was it?”
“It was,” Miles answered. “Dad gave me the last six hundred we need to cover it all.”
“What about your Mom and Dad?”
“Dad said he’d worry about repairs when the time comes,” Miles explained. “Right now, we just need to focus on getting everything packed up and moved up there.”
“But, what about the hotel?” you asked him.
“George offered to have me on as a partner so we can come and go as we please,” Miles told you. “Other than that we’ll be able to go up there and stay if we want, I’d just have to work out of a home office.”
You pulled Miles close to you and kissed him right on the lips. “I love you,” you whispered teasingly.
“I love you too (Y/N),” Miles whispered, nuzzling against your cheek.
The five of you were happy beyond words at dinner that night, laughing and chattering up a storm, excited that at long last, you, Miles and your family would finally be moving up to the land in Bozeman. At long last, yours and Miles’s dream was finally becoming a reality.

Douma's English voice actor is Stephen Fu!
Ok I don't have time to make a fancy little graphic with pictures of all the characters he's played. You'll just have to look up the rest 😅Some of his notable roles are:
Weather Report from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Stone Ocean
Naruzo Machio from How Heavy Are the Dumbells You Lift
Anti from SSSS Gridman
Kaname Sudo from Darwin's Game
+ more!

On the ask game 12... I actually ship Toga and redemption/sanity. And I was envisioning it happening after the Final War arc for added drama... But your take is good too.
And for other crossover asks... Do you know Beware of Chicken, Kengan Ashura, How Heavy Are the Dumbells You Lift?, Utena, or Konosuba? Because I have ideas for all of them. Also one for Kekko Kamen, but I think a crossover involving The Heroine That Hides Her Face But Not The Body (and that sobriquet means exactly what it sounds like. Blame Go Nagai) is something I should do myself.
Me 🤝 you
Giving child villains redemption arcs.
I... know some of the stuff you mentioned by name, but I never actually sat down and watched any of them.

Watching 309 rn and I paused the episode to 🗣📢 YELL about the difference in the opening scenes of sullivan/andy (idk their shipname and idc 🤷) and marina... like we have Andy sitting in his lap, and NOW I want to see 👏 carina 👏 in 👏 MAYA'S 👏 lap cmon people no what we get is carina speaking Italian- which is super hot of course gaddamn- with fucking subtitles *speaking Italian* wow thanks a bunch 👌 look I'm not picky I'll even take Maya in carinas lap can you imagine 🥴 Just really noticing these differences when you watch again yanno 🧐
Maya asking for the demotion in front of Andy made me feel all kinds of feels... like obvious she feels responsible for the way the team is falling apart when- bambina no that's not how it went,,,
Lmao andy with her 'we're gonna get through this as a family' hypocritical much??? Sure Jan 😒🙄
I liked seeing a bit of vic's background about her grandma and her singing ofc 🎤
Can't believe nothing else happened for 30 minutes to skip to having Maya and andy cook together in the last 2 minutes and them trying to work things out aka Maya doing all the heavy lifting (insert dumbell emoji here I can't find it 😭)
I don't know how I feel about this episode lololol overal feeling was meh 🤷🥱 needed more marina 3/10
The double standards with the ships drive me crazy and it's been happening for so long 😩 thankfully Marina got more this season like the shower scene and tongue was involved but it's still not nearly as much compared to the straight ships. Maya or Carina in the other's lap would be 😍🔥 we need it!
Ugh that scene is so frustrating...Maya absolutely deserved the job and the fact that she was ready to give it up to Andy after Andy was treating her like absolute shit...no. That whole patch of Season 3 is so tough to watch. Andy drives me nuts.
But yes overall that episode definitely needed more Marina and didn't really have much Maya either if I remember correctly lol

Women In the Gym
Many women avoid actively going to the gym because they feel as if they do not belong. If they do step into a gym, usually their go-to comfort machine is the treadmill. Let's face it, no one actually likes the treadmill. It is routine and it is boring. Me, I found my passion for heavy lifting by facing my fears and putting myself out there at the gym. When I first started my fitness journey, I believed that weight lifting was for men and my place in the gym was in the cardio room. If any other women feel like this, it is time to challenge the patriarchy and pick up some dumbells. I do understand how intimidating this is from first-hand experience, so here are some reminders to change your mindset about women in fitness.
You are there for you and only you.
Your fitness journey is yours and no one else's.
Muscles are beautiful.
You belong wherever you choose to place yourself.
These are the affirmations I wrote in my journal to remind myself that I do belong in a weight room full of men, and now I have no fear of benching next to well-experienced male lifters.
