You’re tucked up against him, your head resting on his pec and your leg thrown over his. 

A few days ago, Wonwoo took up tongue twisters in an effort to improve his enunciation. He said it would help with his rapping and with his occasional bedtime stories, and that was all you needed to hear to get on board. Now, he reads through a couple every night before bed while you listen and try to keep your dirty thoughts at bay. 

That’s the only drawback of Wonwoo’s new hobby, the ideas it brings to mind. Because enunciation has everything to do with how well your tongue moves, and you can think of something that also has everything to do with how well your tongue moves, and Wonwoo is already incredible at it. 

Both of you have been working long hours and practically falling into bed in your work clothes at the end of the day. He hasn’t eaten you out or fucked you since before he started practicing, and it’s taking everything in you not to offer him another way of strengthening his tonguing skills. 

He sounds off the last word, turning his phone off and placing it on the nightstand before grabbing the book he’d been reading with you and adjusting his glasses as he starts. 

It’s not long before the depth and warmth of his voice and the vibrations of his chest under your cheek are lulling you to sleep. 

Your thoughts follow you into your dreams. They’re not vivid, just flashes of heat and breathy sighs and wet warmth between your thighs, and that’s exactly what you wake up to. “Why’re you ‘wake, baby?” He mumbles into your hair, pressing a kiss to your crown and taking a surreptitious sniff before letting his head loll over to check the time. 

“Just a dream,” you respond, hoping he won’t question you further. Of course he does, the loving, caring bastard. 

“Bad?” He sounds concerned and you can’t lie to him, not when he’s so sweet and sleepy and gullible. 

“No, Woo, it was a good dream. You can go back to sleep, though, it’s okay,” you offer, starting to pull away so you can take care of yourself in the shower. 

“Nononononono,” he grasps at your shirt, pulling you back before you can get far, “Tell me.”

Fuck. 

“Please?” 

Well, shit, now you have to. 

“It’s the tongue twisters,” you moan in exasperation, covering your eyes and trying to curl away from him. 

“What do you mean?” He sounds so confused and so cute, and you just know his hair is all ruffled and his sleep shirt is rumpled and that he has to be squinting because he hasn’t reached for his glasses and-

“Your tongue twisters, it’s… they- I just think they’d make you even better at something else, is all. Something you’re already way too good at.” 

A few seconds pass before it clicks for him, but when it does, he stiffens beneath you in more ways than one. MAIN MASTERLIST

Shoulder shimmying had never been so hard, but Y/N seemed to have finally gotten down the choreo to ITZY's 'Wannabe', the members of Stray Kids seeming to think so too. They had just been looking around for a room to practice in when they came across their young trainee friend, who they hadn't seen for a while due to their busy schedule.

A small applause sounded from behind Y/N, making her jump as she saw the door open and Stray Kids clapping for her.

"Ah! Hello sunbaenims!" Y/N blushed and bowed politely. She wasn't expecting to see them there, so absorbed into practising for her next showcase.

"Hi there!"

"Annyeong!"

"Wow!"

They all let out greetings as they walked over excitedly to Y/N.

"How has everything been? It's been a while since we saw you," Jeongin smiled widely at Y/N, trying to ease the obvious nerves he saw from her.

"Have you been practicing regularly? Your dancing has improved a lot," Changbin nodded his head in approval.

"Ah, you really think I've improved?! Yeah I've been practising a lot these days..." Y/N bashfully admitted, rubbing her sweaty palms on her leggings. Was it from exercising or from nerves? She wasn't quite so sure herself.

"We can see that. You're better at dancing and freestyling than us now," Lee Know laughed, praising the younger girl jokingly, but there was still a hint of seriousness to it that showed Y/N he was proud of her, and that helped her relax more.

"Maybe one day even Jisung will be jealous of your dancing skills," Felix laughed, causing the quokka like man to look over at him with a mock appalled face.

"Haha maybe I'll take his place as the ace," Y/N smirked, feeling comfortable enough to joke around with them. It wasn't a regular occurrence that she saw the boys but everytime she did, she was soon able to fall back into a relaxed state where it felt like she had known them forever.

"No way! You will never be as talented as me!" Jisung smirked back, yet he couldn't help but goofily smile back at her as he ruffled her hair.

"Well, we're glad you're practicing so hard. Would you like to have some fried chicken with us?" Seungmin piped up, his eagle eyes noticing that she only seemed to have some water in the room with her. Plus, he remembered what it was like being a trainee, and an offer of fried chicken would not be one to be turned down.

"Oh sure! If there's enough to go around!" Y/N clasped her hands together excitedly.

"Of course there's enough food! We're so proud of all your progress by the way, we can tell how hard you've been working, Y/Nnie," Chan praised her, as they all sat down together on the floor.

"Here, eat up," Hyunjin passed over a box of fried chicken to Y/N from the bags of fast food they had.

"Just remember to take a lot of rest too," Jisung commented genuinely, yet anyone could tell he, as well as the other members were very much so enthralled with the heaven sent food in front of them.

"Don't worry I do!" Y/N rushed out, before taking a bite of the fried chicken and wiggling slightly as she did a happy dance.

"You're so cute when you're excited!" Felix giggled as he saw her.

"That's exactly what Channie hyung does," Seungmin laughed along.

There was a moment of peaceful eating before Chan kept up the conversation.

"Oh yeah, we wanted to ask you something! Are you good at rapping?" Chan wondered, wiping his hands on a napkin.

"Well, I don't want to brag but I think I'm pretty good," Y/N shrugged, she had practiced enough and knew she was at JYP for a reason, and her talents certainly didn't go to waste when it came to rapping.

"Oh yeah? You actually rap too? I had no idea. Have you tried writing your own lyrics before?" Changbin got excited at the prospect of hearing Y/N rap.

"I'm not as confident in writing rap lyrics as I am in singing them if that makes sense?" Y/N explained, hoping it was understandable.

"I get what you mean. You must be very talented though since you can sing so well," Lee Know wondered.

"Do you happen to write your own songs too or do you learn songs from other artists?" Chan asked, interested in what her identity as a future artist would be.

"Oh I like to write my own songs too!" Y/N beamed. Now that, was an area she was proud of herself for.

"Really? Can you play one of your original songs for us?" Hyunjin said in a shocked tone, head tilting slightly in disbelief but wanting to hear her sing nonetheless.

The boys all stared at her in anticipation.

"Oh, sure... If you really want me to," Y/N became nervous again, because this was Stray Kids! Yes they felt like her friends but to sing her own personal works in front of them was still nerve wracking.

"Yes, we really want you to!" Jeongin encouraged her, offering that same reassuring smile as he did earlier.

All of the members were now eagerly waiting for her.

"Ok, here's a chorus I wrote recently," Y/N finally nodded, making the boys even more excited as she began to sing.

"Oh it's in my bones.

Hereditarily alone.

Surrounded by people,

But that gives no meaning.

It's in my bones."

The boys stared in in wonder, thinking the words were so beautiful and they loved the emotion she put into it even for such a small snippet of the song.

"Her voice is amazing..." Hyunjin was in awe.

"Yeah, you have a really good vocal tone!" Jisung clapped.

"And you wrote that yourself?" Chan smiled like a proud dad.

"Can we hear more?" Changbin said hopefully, nudging Y/N playfully.

"Well, I think I should now that I've sang a teaser for you," Y/N beamed, and for the next couple of minutes she sang the rest of the song to the boys. She even played a small backing track which consisted of an acoustic guitar, simple but sweet, building up towards the end of the song.

"I can't wait to see you debut!" Felix clapped with the other boys.

"You really will steal everyone's hearts, Y/N, you'll go far," Chan said, a big smile adorning his face as everyone offered their comments and praises to Y/N.

"Just don't let it get to your head," Lee Know joked, causing his members to whack him playfully and tell Y/N to not listen to him anymore.

"Thank you guys, it really means a lot."

I got bored at work one day, thought about Svech, and this is the result.

Rivulets of sweat dripped down Andrei's chiseled chest as the bass of a Russian rap song boomed through his AirPods, encouraging him to go farther and faster.

It had been a long time since he could push this hard.

His physical therapist permitted him to run a few miles to assist with rehabilitation but stipulated that he kept the cardio light. But with the new season upcoming, Andrei wanted to test his new knee.

Growing up with little taught him that sometimes, man made his own fortune. There was always room for improvement, a new skill to learn.

He strived to incorporate that philosophy into his playing style since his mother, Elena, first put him on the ice as a toddler. He was used to taking control and paving his own path.

But when Dr. Bloom, the team's head physician, returned with an MRI that showed a visible ACL tear, apprehension washed over Andrei. He couldn't do anything but apologize for his broken body.

What was he apologizing for?

Did he feel worthless because he couldn't put the team on his back and carry them to victory?

Whatever it was, the malaise quickly disappeared whenever he saw your baby bump poking out from the shirt you "borrowed' from his side of the closet.

There were days were you would wake up from the sunlight hitting your face, nestled in the fluffy bamboo sheets. You could feel Andrei's gentle breaths hitting the back of your neck as he rested one of his strong hands over your son.

And if he had an early morning physical therapy appointment, he would return with Kochetkov's hands full of shopping bags so you two could make a nutritious breakfast and debate your list of baby names.

Eventually, the realization dawned on Andrei that maybe his injury happened for a reason.

He wouldn't be able to lead his team to the Stanley Cup, but he could stay home and care for his wife and infant son.

He could tell her how beautiful and proud he was of her and that he could not imagine a more perfect woman.

And when he first held his little baby boy, his little Alexei Andreyevich Svechnikov, closed to his bare chest, he had to fight back tears as he saw his son wrap a little hand around his finger.

None of that could have happened if his seasons extended into late April.

Suddenly, flashing lights in large mirror panels facing the equipment caught Andrei's eye. The baby monitor on the shelving unit picked up some activity in the nursery.

Andrei stopped the treadmill and took out his AirPod, smiling as he listened closely to his son's sounds. He could tell by the fussing that Alexei was getting hungry.

But his brown eyes soon widened as he realized that you two also had a baby monitor in the main bedroom and that you were likely getting out of bed to care for the baby.

Andrei took off running down the hall and up the wrought-iron stairs, nearly tripping over himself as he climbed to the second floor.

Sure enough, he found you out of bed and tieing your floral silk robe into a bow.

He rushed into the room and rested his hand on your elbows. "Let me care for him."

"Are you sure?" you asked sleepily.

Andrei chuckled quietly as he undid your robe and pushed it off your shoulders. He ran his fingers through your hair as he placed a few gentle kisses on your neck. "You can't even open your eyes, moya milaya. You have done enough and need rest. Go back to bed."

"Mmm, 'kay," you hummed as you climbed back into bed, cuddling a pillow and allowing Andrei to place the covers over you.

"I will bring some coffee after," he said, planting another kiss on your head.

He collected your bathrobe and draped it over the bed frame before heading toward the nursery.

Your son's crib at the far end of the room against a blue accent wall with his name spelled out in Cyrillic letters, contrasting nicely with the other grey walls. Andrei peeked over Alexei's crib, where Alexei smacked his lips and tried putting his hand in his mouth.

"Good morning, little one," Andrei cooed, gently brushing his finger along his son's cheek. "Are you hungry?

Alexei responded with an unintelligible groan.

"That would be yes."

Andrei fetched a bottle and a can of Enfamil from a cabinet in the corner of the room. After some water and vigorous shaking, he placed the bottle on the side table next to the rocking chair.

"Come here, my little man!" said Andrei as he lifted Alexei from the crib.

Alexei immediately took the bottle into his mouth and began drinking the formula.

A warmth filled Andrei's eyes as he watched his son. "Don't tell your mama," he said, "But you are the best gift. I love you so much, and you make me want to be a better man."

Unbeknownst to Andrei, the baby monitor in the main bedroom picked up saccharine words to his son and broadcasted them to you. Your eyes fluttered open as you listened to him pour his heart out.

You couldn't help but stare at the monotone "Morning After" photos you two took for your bedroom after you became Mrs. Svechnikov, thinking about the most crucial skill Andrei acquired over the past couple of months — how to be a loving husband and father.

if one helicopter mom of an older bro wasn’t enough then no worries, leader bang chan is here for backup. as the eldest in his own family chan was well equipped when it came to debuting as the oldest in the group, especially with the maknaes, jeongin and minseo.

and though he obviously took care of all of the members even to this day, leader chan specifically looked over the literal kids in the group who’d debuted at freshly-seventeen and fifteen, always making sure things such as choreo and fans were age appropriate for the minors.

of course now that inseo are both adults this strict censoring has mostly ceased but that won’t stop chan from still babying them!!! after all, he is still the oldest.

and this fact ^^^ would make him one of minseo’s favorite victims. surely, if he can still pinch her cheeks past the age of 20, she can call him strange and ancient, right?

to be completely honest these two act more like siblings than hoseo due to their playful jabs. chan is still and always will be a softie though, seo is the one that really barks — which is how you know she actually loves him.

this dynamic is distinct in the way they care for one another; which is so different but so noticeable. chan’s way is outwardly apparent, written in his tone and appearance, but minseo doesn’t even want him to be aware.

when handing out waters to the members babyseo will start with chan, or she’ll be the first to notice when he’s left out, or throw up a silly 🤨👍? whenever their eyes meet across the room.

basically just carl and russell from up (2009) but don’t tell chan cause he’ll cry and minseo can’t do all that today.

there is just something about changbin that brings out a never-before-seen overprotective side to minseo that does not stand for any binnie slander. you say one wrong thing and minpye is on your ass telling something like; “hey!! be nice to him!”

by now it’s fully automatic to the point that she doesn’t even think about it — give changbin 1 playful shove and now you’ve got yourself a wet willy.

on the contrary, younger brother changbin treats her nearly the same as he does his own sister, bugging her and pestering her just for the reaction that follows. no matter what it is — grimace, laugh, curse on his firstborn — changbin adores it.

and honestly, 90% of all non-laughs are fake. miso finds changbin not only hilarious but endearing to the point of actually enjoying his aegyo, making him the sole member who doesn’t receive her deadly stank face. can you blame her?

minseo also feels very inspired and encouraged by bin in a myriad of different ways, most notably her drive to improve her rapping skills as well as the ‘goal’ to be “as strong as binnie” one day. (wlw all around the world screamed)

all jokes aside though, minseo and changbin connected very quickly over their shared issues with their appearance and particularly others always assuming them to be intimidating and rude due to their resting face. a strong foundation of friendship subsequently formed due to their deeper understanding of the other and set up a great start for their long-lasting support of one another through each and every hardship.

imagine showing up to the biggest babygirl competition and these mfs show up

without han and soul kpop would have a true lack of lesbian/twink solidarity (joke!)

obviously han jisung has a thing for tsunderes (aka hoseo) because you just can’t keep this kid away from the scorpios! and thank god tbh because they can’t help but love him.

another one of the members miso is just always smiling around. while felix simply radiates warmth to those who care to get close, jisung is someone who lives for laughter, which makes him quite the comedian. not one of the stray kids members would tell you differently, either, not even minseo.

this would be one of the main reasons they immediately clicked in the beginning. although both shy and anxious around new people, jisung felt compelled to budge the serious-looking face on the younger girl by making her laugh, and after only a few failed attempts he would. jisung would be utterly shocked by the squeaky noise he’d later grow to know well.

this tactic enacted by the older boy helped minseo open up to him a lot quicker than some of the other members and would lead to their late-night talks of the worries keeping them up as both members have dealt with enough anxiety to have it publicized in relation to a hiatus.

and you’d best believe they are each other’s go-to with this specific issue. their respective returns after a health break is always marked by their proximity to one another in whatever event they’re attending, secretly noting all of the minuscule signs others don’t pick up on.

i completely agree with that anon on the fan service thing, i started liking enhypen since their debut and i've clearly seen a lot of changes. they're right about the heeseung thing, how people say stuff like he's a 'fuckboy' or a 'cheater' and while i understand that it might me alright to describe him as such in a fanfic, i don't think it's alright to think that he's actually like that. i remember seeing a post on pinterest, it was a clip of heeseung and i think he was talking about how he's changed since his debut, and the owner of the post had written about how they think he's become more mature and how he 'has definitely lost his virginity' now. and while it's alright to talk about and think how much your idols have changed since their debut, is it really necessary to make such comments about them like their virginity? And they've definitely upped their fanservice and while artists interactions with their fans do change overtime, their interactions have become drastically different and cater towards the fans more now. it's like they know that the fans want this from them, and that they think it's the only think which keeps their fans with them. It's honestly really sad if you think about it. And this might be a bit off topic, but I've come across so many posts on tumblr where there were like tarrot readings for the members. Like what kind of person they might date, their ideal type and stuff and i was just weirded out by such posts, because although i don't think tarrot readings are really reliable and stuff, it's still pretty weird to try to predict and assume stuff about someone who doesn't even know you. And you're definitely right about how jayhoon had the least fan service and as of now they've definitely started doing more. It wasn't even an overall growth in it, it was a drastic rise in the way they interact. This also comes to the fact that while enhypen might be known by many they're still quite underrated. I have seen so many people sleep on enha's skills and simply call them a 'visual group' like they are not just a visual group or just a group known for fanservice. Ni-ki is genuinely the one of the greatest dancers in kpop and despite the fact that people know him for his dance, his vocals and rap are improving day by day and they're also top tier. Yet people still sleep on them and are yet to acknowledge it. Lol sorry for the unrelated rant.

i agree !! i think just because we shouldn't assume that all idols are pure and don't date around doesn't mean we can jump to the other extreme and assume they fuck around 24/7. it's just degrading imo to assume such things when we don't know what they're like !!

-The K-pop group, BTS, have debuted years ago and they were highly successful.

-At first Bangtan was not on board with having a new member. They had worked so hard and had to deal with many hardships to get where they were now, it didn’t make sense for a new member to just come rolling in.

-Namjoon was hesitant at first, but he soon came to realize that it wasn’t really your fault. You didn’t choose to debut with them, it was the company’s decision. He still didn’t like the idea of getting a new member, but he’d give you a chance.

-Seokjin didn’t appreciate you at all. He didn’t like that you were younger and more good looking than him. Like how was that possible? Who could be better looking than him?

-Yoongi didn’t trust you. He thought you only wanted the fame and that you pulled some strings to get into BTS. He didn’t think that you were talented as a trainee and he knew that you weren’t going to be any good as an idol.

-Hoseok simply didn’t want to teach you every choreography or anything. He saw videos of your dancing when you were a trainee, he knew you were good. He didn’t want to compete with you, but if it meant that his position was threatened than he’d do whatever he could to keep it. Even if it meant sabotaging your career.

-Jimin was jealous. He liked getting all the attention from his members, he didn’t want to share attention with some new person. He didn’t like you, he hated that you were just waltzing in and not starting like a normal rookie. He wanted you to fail and get kicked out of the group.

-Taehyung always liked new people, but not you. Or at least the thought of you added to the group. He decided to ignore you, whenever you were officially introduced to them.

-Jungkook full on hated you. He was the Golden Maknae, not you. Now you were going to replace him as the maknae? Of course he’s going to hate you!

-You on the other hand, were excited about debuting in BTS. You’d always thought highly of their group. They were the reason why you became a trainee. They inspired you so much.

-The first day you met them, the Maknae line ignored you. You tried to talk to them, but eventually gave up. Seokjin and Hoseok gave you fake smiles and Yoongi just stared at you. Namjoon was the only one who seemed genuine.

-Over time, the group warmed up to you. They saw you were hard working, and goal oriented. Plus, Army loved and supported you from the start.

-Namjoon got closer to you and found out that you were also fluent in English. He liked that you both could communicate in English in front of the other members and they’d sometimes have no idea what you were talking about.

-Seokjin had bonded with you through your love of food. He’d cook for you sometimes but mostly you’d both get takeaway.

-Yoongi was the last member that warmed up to you. One day you came up to him, he started to walk away from you, but you grabbed his arm. You asked him to help improve your rap skills. Reluctantly, he agreed but over time you got closer.

-Yoongi was the member you were closest with, in fact. He was protective of you and helped you deal with the hate that a small amount of Army gave you.

-Hoseok had to help you with choreography one time and you’d been easy to teach. Hoseok liked your happy and positive attitude, and the two of you became friends easily.

-Jimin got over his jealously quite quickly. He found that you were quite fun to hang with. He formed a close bond to you, not as quite of a bond as he had with Taehyung, but still very close.

-Taehyung stopped ignoring you after seeing how Jimin trusted you. Just like Jimin, Taehyung also formed a close bond with you. The three of you together always hung out and got in some sort of trouble.

-Jungkook got over not being the Maknae anymore. He liked being a Hyung, it gave him a sense of power. The two of you would play Overwatch constantly, it’s how you both grew close. Not to mention that you both had an obsession with banana milk.

-Where BTS once had seven members, there were now eight. On stage performing together, only grew you guys closer. You achieved more together, more records were broken, and overall became more successful.

-The boys loved you and would do anything to protect their newest addition.

-"Oh! So you actually have guts.. I like it.." - he chuckled, breathing heavily after your rap session. He steps closer and leans to you with a grin. - "It's a pity we didn't meet each other earlier, baby.. I think we'd make a good rap duo, wouldn't we?"

-Samatoki is kinda overprotective in relationships, values you more than anything in this world.. But the fact that you actually can stand up for yourself makes him really proud. That's it, you're his partner, after all! You're a powerful couple that is gonna show this cruel world what you two are made of..!

-He really wants you to teach him more pro tips, as it not would help not only him, but his whole team to improve. Yet it's kinda hard for him to confess this, as Samatoki prefers to be the one on top.. So he would just tell you he wants to have some more practice with you, as you're a worthy opponent for him.

-"I noticed you were quite soft in our first fight, darling. So don't you dare to go easy with me this time.. Or I will take the opportunity and knock you down.." - your boyfriend smirks, taking his hypmic. - "You know I can absorb your attacks? So come on, don't be shy, I want to feel your whole strength on me today.."

Even now, when Japan was under the rules of 'Party of words', and there were no weapons, the streets weren't so safe. Police always dealt with accidents about some jerks fighting each other with illegal hypmics.. When Jyuto gets another tape from the security camera of the cafe, near which another fight took place, he notices a familiar figure..

-He was quite surprised. Huh, so his precious darling was able to trick him and hide something like that?

-"Oh, just how many secrets do you also have for me, mm?" - Jyuto chuckled, but without rancor. - "You know, I'm a cop, after all.. I can give you some spicy third degree.."

-But he doesn't worry. It's actually good, as it means you can fight for your safety when your boyfriend is not with you. After all, even if he wants to be around you 24/7, he can't, due to his work and rap practice, and the fact that you're so independent is soothing him.

-"Just don't get too carried away, okay?" - his hand wrapped around your waist as he patted your head a little. - "I have worked with several cases about people ganging up and using their hypmics for illegal things.. I don't want you to cross paths with them in any way.."

-Jyuto is even willing to have some little rap battles so you can improve each other's skills..!

-"Are you ready for my private lessons just for you..?" - he chuckled, taking your hand in his with a smug smirk. - "But you need to return a favor, okay? Your lips look like a great reward for me.."

He admires people who're improving themselves and wants you both to be the better version of yourself.

-He also has no envy for your power, only adoration. Of course you can try to tease him a little but honestly he's quite thick-headed.. For him this difference just means that he also should work better and harder to get such strength.

-But, despite you're so strong, your boyfriend doesn't want you to get into rap battles and form your team. As he is still trying to find ways to save his Commander, Rio starts to find more and more info about 'Party of Words' and he doesn't want you to play their dangerous game. Am sure he understands that there's something more behind this 'division rap battles' they make.

A huff left your lips as you waited for the elevator, a black bag lazily draped over your shoulder and a cup of iced latte in one of your hands. You took some time admiring once again your company's building — HYBE's building.

According to Eunjoo, the leader of your group, VOON, the members’ schedule for the day was finally cleaned up. Not that it made any difference, seeing that it was already past 11pm. The daily dance practice was finished, just like the recordings for the upcoming album. After weeks of hardwork, you started to see your efforts paying off.

Ding!

The elevator's door opened, and you pondered for a second if you really should stay behind on a Friday night when your other groupmates were leaving to your shared dorm. Your exhausted body moved without too much thinking, entering the small space.

As you pressed the button with a bright '8' written on it, you leaned back on the metal wall. Muttering a ‘thanks’ under your breath, you thanked no one in particular, eventually noticing that you were alone in the elevator and that nobody would see your dreadful looks.

At this point, you weren't planning on going back to your dorm. You didn't want to make your chauffeur wait for you. Another grateful remark escaped your lips when you remembered of some ‘spare rooms’ in the edifice where you could spend the night.

Mentally, you planned what you were going to do.

1. Pratice the choreo for the set tracks you were going to perform at Kpop Flex (a soon to come music festival). 2. Work on your rapping, since your producer said there was room for improvement. 3. What was number three again...?

Nevermind. You would remember it sooner or later.

Grabbing your phone, you decided on telling your members that you were sleeping at the building and assuring them that everything was alright. All of them replied with an ‘Okay, stay safe!’ — except for the maknae, Mingyu, who jokingly said that she didn't care.

The elevator stopped again, revealing the eighth floor. Your feet dragged you down the main hallway, shortly stopping for the face recognition. The glass door that divided a hall and another opened automatically as your body limped towards your dance room.

4-2 — DANCE STUDIO. 안무연습실. The room plate displayed those words far away, its artificial, yellowish light shining lowly, without drawing any attention.

The dance room could be easily mistaken by one of the janitor closets that surrounded it. There wasn't anything out of the ordinary outside, except for the plate on the wall indicating the space's purpose. Secluded, the spot was situated by the end of the corridor. Sometimes you wondered why the architect even put a dance studio, which, by the way, was minuscule, in the middle of nowhere.

I mean, there were other studios in the eighth floor, they just weren't as small — or distant from the others — as 4-2 was. But when you found it while exploring the gigantic edifice, it was like love at first sight.

After going back to the hidden place for only three times, you were already attached to it. You didn't have to switch rooms every practice because another group was using it. Your dance jam lives wouldn't be interrupted. Not even your personal dance time when you swayed awkwardly to your playlist would be discontinued. You had found heaven.

Two months in and you told your manager about 4-2. He was happy for your so-called “discover”. He noticed how much you improved your dance skills over the two months, and the explanation you gave him made all the dots connect.

Somehow, your manager got to make the studio yours. He had some chats with his bosses and they agreed on giving you the honor of having your own dance room in the building. They weren't giving away a big, overused place that everyone would fight for, so it was alright for them. Nobody would even realize that 4-2 was yours.

Boredly, you sipped your latte, expecting the considerable amount of sugar in it to give you some energy. However, shock consumed you as the straw touched your teeth.

An abusively loud sound boomed from inside your dance studio, the song's high notes ricocheting within the walls of the hall. Out of reflex, you jumped back, eyes wide and heart shaking. If it wasn't for the thin plastic lid holding the liquid back, you'd be completely soaked in it.

For a second, you stood there motionless and scared. Your bag finally slipped from your shoulder, seeing that it was already falling from your arms because of your jump.

“Fucking hell,” you mumbled angrily, crouching to grab your things, knees almost giving up from the intense practice you had earlier that day. Your shock got bigger with each word you uttered. “Is that ASAP?”

Thinking about who could be there playing STAYC at almost midnight, you prepared yourself to give that person a scolding. Your free hand went up to your ear, trying to ease the piercing pain you felt from the music's volume.

Sora, your group mate, came into your mind. She was an avid STAYC stan. Maybe she was using the spot? No... She already had gone home. Besides, she wouldn't use it if you didn't gave her permission.

Could it be TXT'S leader, Choi Soobin? Another girl group fan who also stayed behind to train at night? No, he wouldn't use such a small training room.

Stomping towards the end of the corridor, you rolled your eyes at the pre-chorus. You loved STAYC, yes, but Sieun's voice on maximum volume made you wish you could rip your earbuds off. If they started bleeding that moment it wouldn't be a surprise.

The sound of your firm steps (you gathered all your energy left to march like that) were cancelled by the noise being emitted by 4-2’s speakers.

“Who the fuck–!” You tried screaming at the crazy person as you arrived at the entrance, the door fully opened. A familiar silhouette appeared in your view through the studio's mirror.

Yang Jungwon, the one and only.

His dark green hoodie moved along his body movements, the color contrasting with his bright red hair. Dark jeans and a pair of beige sneakers (or what was supposed to be white sneakers) finishing his outfit. An expensive suitcase and a handbag were thrown away in a corner — he probably had arrived from a trip.

Walking backwards, your eyes widened again. “Crap...” You groaned, resting your forehead on the grey wall. Something bad really had to happen, didn't it?

“Yang Jungwon...” A hiss left your lips as the stone vibrated with the music that still didn't stop. Your mind replayed the boy's moves over and over, his focused face stuck like glue in your brain.

“...But in my dance room?”

I love you Already!!! The year is already almost over~ I really like the smell of fall but I like the smell of winter and the cold weather and first snow and everything..I don’t even remember last winter because this year has gone by so quickly..I was only Kim Namjoon when we first recorded A Typical Trainee’s Christmas so it’s hard to believe that I’ve been Rap Monster for over half a year now ah so amazing During 2 Cool 4 Skool promotions, everything was a blur and I couldn’t adapt and the smallest things were so fascinating to me but now, I’m starting to look for the cameras more and try harder to show cooler things on stage - I guess this is what people call experience. I’ve become skilled now, right? I can’t always show my sloppy self [on stage] so I’m thinking a lot about how to improve. What I think about a lot these days is this. It’s something that I’ve felt a lot after reading ARMYs’ letters and during fansigns also but you know how if you keep doing something you really like with a strong passion you eventually reach a slump at one point and wonder what you’re doing with your time, right? I personally have a problem because I think too much but nowadays, my new motto is Nike’s just do it. if you like. No matter what you like doing, I think you should push aside your worries about what will happen in the future because you’re going to gain experience from it anyways. I think it’s best to do what you like with dedication now instead of listening to what others say about it. Music is also best when it’s produced like that. A fragmentary example would be this: I didn’t dislike studying but if I had chosen to given up what I had liked the most back then - which was holding a microphone and performing - I would not be here right now.  I guess I’m slowly becoming an adult in this kind of way! Our second album promotions have already ended and it’s time to produce and practice hard but what I hope for the most is that you will always stay by our sides as we grow and develop~ We got the rookie award because of you all! These are happy times. I have a lot of questions but right now, I’m focusing on doing what I want and finding my own path. I hope you all can do the same! No matter what you want to do, I believe that you always need courage and generosity. We’ll come back energetically with our next album! Euhaha I love you ARMYs~~ I like ARMYs~~

genuine question, where would you recommend someone start with improving media literacy and critical thinking skills? :o

I love this question! Thank you - it really pushed me to figure out how to distill my own process, so it was very helpful for me too.

“Media literacy” is such a big topic that it can very easily get overwhelming, so I would recommend finding a specific type of media you want to practice these skills in first. This is handy because 1) it breaks the learning process up into a much more manageable goal 2) a lot of the mindsets you acquire here will be helpful once you start branching out into different media types, even if the specifics of that genre might be different.

For example, I’m a historian; I’m trained to read both historical documents and texts produced by other professional historians with an eye for particular characteristics. My personal specialty is the study of historical gender and medicine, which means that even when I’m reading texts from periods outside my own, or even modern media, I can pick up synergies of gender and/or medicine more intuitively than others. A really fun example of this is when I watched Blue Eye Samurai with a friend who is also a historian of the same period as I am, but with a focus on religion. A very obvious flag to me that Mizu is queer in some way is that they only realized they were attracted to [censored for spoilers] when they witnessed two men kissing. When I brought that up to my friend, he said he had completely missed that thread. He is, however, continually able to bring in sociological arguments that I miss, because he’s trained to see those patterns and I’m not.

A less intimidating way to approach these skills then, which are often very vaguely defined and have a reflexive anxiety about them because they feature so often in grading rubrics without being clearly defined, is pattern matching. Are you able to identify the patterns the authors are drawing on? And are you able to draw new connections between these texts that are unique to you?

Examples of specific specialties you might be interested as a way to get started could include political journalism, scientific reports, historical texts, or romance novels, to give you an example of the balance between specificity and generalization I usually find helpful. Once you have your set, start reading as many examples of that as you can. It’s more helpful to consume this material consistently, rather than amass a huge source base in a very short period of time. The goal here is to start picking up on patterns between the various examples you’re reading. Patterns of shared values, of similar ways of constructing an argument or a message, of different conversations going in between the authors of this shared space.

“Active reading” tends to get a bad rap because I think a lot of us have bad memories of being told simply to do it without ever being explained what it actually is or how to tell if we’re doing it. But it is a very useful tool. Instead of simply taking in information (that is, “passive” reading), we engage in a conversation with the information as we read. I find that the following is a handy checklist for me when I read material that’s new to me:

- What is the author’s message? How can I tell?

- Why are they presenting this message? Do their stated goals match their implicit goals, or is there a mismatch? How can I tell?

- Who is the message for? How can I tell?

- Do I agree with this message completely? With some parts of this message but not others? Not at all? Why? And how can I tell?

- If I don’t agree in part or entirely, what is my stance on the issue? (“I need more information to know my stance” is a perfectly good one to have)

(Note: this is biased towards my training as a historian. Someone trained in a different field, or even in a different method of doing history than I am, would likely have a different answer. But I find that this set is flexible enough to be used in many different contexts, not just academic ones.)

That “how can I tell” is, for me, the crux of the matter. Being able to answer that question pushes us to really pick apart the different strands of a text and helps us see the overall meaning of that text as something that is constructed, not inherent.

At first, you might need to consciously have this list next to you as a reminder whenever you’re reading your text of choice. You might even need to read a particular text multiple times, each time focusing on a single question from the list instead of juggling all five parts at the same time because it’s so hard to find those answers. That is totally fine! More than fine, it’s normal.

Eventually, as you get more and more comfortable with practicing this kind of thinking and reading, you’ll be able to do it in a way that’s less conscious and more like muscle memory. This also means that over time, it will get less tiring. Which is to say - at the start of this practice, it will be tiring, mentally and physically so. That doesn’t mean you’re lazy or stupid. It just means this is a part of your brain that’s starting a new exercise routine and is slowly building up endurance. “Learning things” is a skill in itself, and something that we can also practice and get better at. I know some very smart people who are terrible at learning new things and being beginners, because they’re so used to excelling at a very narrow sphere of activities.

This is such a long response already, but I hope it is helpful and makes sense! Just two more points for now, and please also feel free to jump back into my inbox or DMs if you have more questions about this.

Firstly, a very useful strategy I have found for getting more literate in genres and ways of thinking I am not familiar with is to ask an expert in that field to “check your work”. For me, this is scientific articles and @dr-dendritic-trees. Again, I’m a historian, I wasn’t trained to read science reports in any field, but I still want to parse the interesting science that comes my way. In the early stages of getting familiar with science writing, “checking my work” usually looked like me sending an article her way, asking her to translate it into layman’s terms, and then, armed with that prior explanation, reading the article myself to see if I could understand how she’d gotten there. As I got more familiar with the particular kinds of thinking that scientists are trained to do, I started reading the articles first, reaching a tentative conclusion, and then asking her if she agreed (example: “Their conclusion feels fishy to me but I can’t fully say why. Would you say that’s right?”). The goal here is not simply to acquire new scientific information. The goal is to practice thinking like a scientist.

(Incidentally, this approach is also why I encourage my students to use SparkNotes or Wikipedia if they’re really struggling with a particular text so they can get a summary of what’s happening. Once you know what’s happening, you can focus on the much more interesting and critical aspect: how the argument is constructed and how you can tell).

Secondly, Toulmin’s Method is another handy checklist for breaking down arguments that you can use as an alternative to or in conjunction with the checklist I provided above. I’ve taught it in my own classes and a particularly handy exercise I like to do with them is to practice going, “I agree with your X because ABC, and I disagree with your Y because DEF.” [example: “I agree with your claim because my own experience backs that up, but I disagree with your warrant because you’re falsely connecting these two elements.”]

This is so long! Thank you for asking the question and for reading all this! It’s probably pretty obvious that I care deeply about this topic*. This is a hard skill to pick up, especially if you haven’t consciously worked these mental muscles out in a while, but it’s also a profoundly valuable one, and one that greatly enriches our lives as people in a shared and communal world. EDIT: I said I only had two points left, posted this, and then immediately thought of two other exercises that are very helpful for practicing these skills! One, learn to write a précis, which is a very formal, four-sentence summary that is extremely helpful for organizing your thoughts. Two, learn to identify logical fallacies. A really central part of critical thinking is being able to recognize when others are not thinking critically and explain why.

interview: 82MAJOR Aspire to be the 'FIRST CLASS' Idol in Their Own Colour

82MAJOR, a six-member South Korean boy group under GREAT M Entertainment, has made their official debut with the release of their 1st single, ON. Their name was inspired by South Korea’s country code, 82, and the group’s aspirations to introduce a new direction to K-pop and establish themselves as a major presence globally. Let’s get to know more about the group and their music direction in the recent interview.

Q: Some of the members contributed to the song writing process for this debut single. Can you offer some insights to the song writing process and the messages that you wanted to convey through the lyrics?

Nam Seong Mo: When I first heard the melody of "SURE THING," it brought a positive, hopeful feeling. It inspired me to write lyrics as if directly communicating with our fans. Crafting these lyrics, a lot of beautiful words came to mind. In a section mentioning "a small firefly," I remembered being a child and witnessing a firefly, amazed at how something so small could emit such a bright light. I aimed to be a similar source of light, even if small, for our fans. That’s how the lyrics came together.

Hwang Seong Bin: While creating "FIRST CLASS," my focus was on the aspiration for 82MAJOR to reach a first-class status in the future. I aimed to express this ambition through the song's lyrics.

Yoon Ye Chan: When I was working on “FIRST CLASS,” I just realized that it was natural for us because we are confident with our writing and rapping skills. So, when it came down to writing process, with the ‘first class’ and ‘this is who we really are’ mindset, it was really easy to write the lyrics that match the song.

Q: Do you have any particular goals for this debut single?

Cho Seong Il: Even though we just made our debut, it is my goal to receive the Rookie of the Year award. It is the biggest goal that we have. After receiving the Rookie of the Year award, we will do our best to receive the grand award through our next album.

Nam Seong Mo: I really want to be first place on a music show.

Park Seok Joon: We aim to showcase our group's incredible presence to the public. With tracks like "FIRST CLASS" and "SURE THING" offering different vibes, our goal is to excel in expressing those diverse vibes through facial expressions and gestures, highlighting our capability to pull off such different concepts.

Q: On your journey to debut, did anything funny or memorable moment that you will remember forever?

Cho Seong Il: During the filming of the music video for "FIRST CLASS," the weather started out great but took a turn with sudden rain in the evening. We were concerned about continuing the shoot, but the director proposed capturing the current atmosphere, so we ended up filming the music video in rain. The director did a great job in bringing out the vibe even during when it was raining, and I think it came out better than what was originally intended.

Q: What is one thing that is very different between being a trainee and a rookie idol?

Cho Seong Il: I think our daily schedule changed a lot. Before as trainees, we would always practice here in the practice room. Now that we've made our debut, we have more opportunities to attend schedule elsewhere. Also, we get more time to interact with our fans, which I find to be great.

Park Seok Joon: For me, when I was a trainee, I did not have the confidence that I will debut for sure. Now that we've made our debut, I want to show a better side of us, and it motivates me to do well during practice sessions as well as lyrics writing.

Kim Do Gyun: I think I was able to gain new experiences, and it allowed us to come together more as a team and improve our teamwork.

Q: What is something that you really look forward to now that you've debuted?

Yoon Ye Chan: Personally for me, performing in front of other people and writing more songs. That’s what I look forward to.

Park Seok Joon: When our debut was confirmed as we received the songs for the album, I really look forward to finding out the songs that we will get to perform.

Hwang Seong Bin: I'm really excited for getting the opportunity to collaborate with other artists.

Q: What attracted you to have music as your career and what made you decide to be an idol?

Yoon Ye Chan: My family has a very long and extensive line in music; my brother is already an idol (P1Harmony’s KEEHO), my mother was a pianist while my uncles major in guitar and drums (respectively). Since our whole family has been working in the music industry, so I have always been surrounded by music and naturally compelled in doing music.

Cho Seong Il: As I was thinking about what career path I should take, I thought about how I loved singing and dancing. I decided to audition and eventually landed a spot in the company, leading me to debut as an idol.

Hwang Seong Bin: When I was 16, I was mesmerized Post Malone's stages, which eventually inspired me to take the path of an idol. I found solace in his music and it inspired me to pursue a path as an artist. I was deeply moved and wished to provide that comfort to others as well. That’s how I decide to have a career in music.

Q: What are your long-term goals as a group?

Hwang Seong Bin: With all six of us in the group, I want to leave a lasting impression that 82MAJOR is a cool group that others aspire to become.

Yoon Ye Chan: As a long-term goal, I wish to be our own producer for our albums, instead of receiving demos from other producers. We got two producers, the third one is on the way, so, I hope we can make our own albums soon.

Kim Do Gyun: Also, we want to create music that is distinctly our own colour and present it to the public.

Q: Do you have a message that you want to leave for your fans?

Hwang Seong Bin: Thank you so much for supporting us. You are the reason for our existence. We love you! ❤ ❤ ❤

hi, i'm the namjoon/leo sis anon 🫂🫧 but yeah it's odd because, despite being the foundation of the group, i also don't see as much of him.  it truly hurt me to see that, sometimes, when it comes to supporting him, army’s don't seem to be as invested in his artistic pursuits as much as the others (a fact confirmed by a chart showing that only six members had achieved one million streams with recent releases, with namjoon being the only member to not make the list). as you noted, i also have trouble understanding the resentment and criticism he experiences. i mean, he is the epitome of a virgo man aka minding the business that pays him unless provoked lol. like, there is a reason why he is regarded as the “father of k-pop." in other words, k-pop would not have been as successful as it is currently without namjoon and, of course, bts. honestly, his pluto is in the fifth house, which governs passion, creativity, and children, which i understand what is happening but damn can they let him catch a break? lol the man was destined to be a force to be reckoned with, whether or not that fact is accepted by others. his lyrical skill is well known, especially in the romance and rap genres, indicating that he is exceptionally good at what he does; his mannerisms and demeanor are extraordinary; and lastly, aside from a few minor flaws in his human nature, he is a true all-rounder. i looked at his birth chart again but this time including the singer and born asteroids and both fell into his midheaven, signifying that namjoon was literally destined to be an artist lmao like y'all it was written in the fucking stars and planets. like how about that? lmao but fifth house pluto has the power to produce an influencer who is fully authentic; as a result, they either inspire or seriously disrupt the world around them. so, the fact that he's able to evolve and adapt in the face of life's challenges and use that dark power to create and elevate his art, in spite of dealing with so many miserable people who love project on him, makes me happy because it eventually helps him realize his own inner reason and purpose in life. like his fellow virgo, he has nothing to prove to anyone at this point. but i digress lol but i can talk about namjoon all day because he is so fascinating to me –a man with many layers, so it's great to find more fans of him. like, yes, he is a man and he will exhibit such unbearable traits that just don't make any sense (because honestly when do men ever ????) the cancer rising saves him (i can’t even believe i'm sitting here writing this about a MAN like who am i fdjfskfhdjs).

This is a short introductory post for "how to be a triple thread" for @rowonlgc, @lgcbk and @lgcxmimi ! I'm sorry you got stuck with this nerd as a mentor :' ) He's a kind but very consistent and strict teacher, so be ready for your muses to work hard.

DESCRIPTION: max wants to help trainees find a good balance in their skills, should they be lost on what to focus on or simply want to master the art of being a jack of all trades. with a focus on performing he wants to teach the trainees about how to maintain a stable pitch or appropriate breath control for rap while dancing.

GENERAL STRUCTURE: at the beginning of the workshop the trainees will be asked to choose a performance they consider an ideal performance ( older than 2 years or a past lgc release, preferably solo performance ). during the time of the workshop max will include specified 1x1 time to let the trainees practice and perform the song and give pointers they can improve on specifically until for the final evaluation they are expected to be able to present their "ideal performance" with everything they have learned, while reflecting back upon the progress they have made.
