The real question is where is Howie???

They couldve easily make him go to camp with Kourtney. And even if he didnt, remember back 2×07 (I think?) They couldnt stop texting each other.

It wouldve been so funny having them writing letters and then read them to the camera as if they were long lost lovers.

How do you think they're going to handle the harness this season? Or how do you want them to? Do you think Howie was a part of it? I liked him a lot but I think he was too suspicious to just be in awe of Kourtney.

Oh he was 100% in on it, I'm sure of it. Probably against his will, but still. It would be silly for him to be apologizing for like 4 episodes and then have him screw up with Lily in the last one. He was probably manipulated into being a part of it, and felt guilty about it afterwards.

I think that it's going to be a big storyline, or at least a big side plot with Ricky and Lily (the ship name sounds so gross to me it doesn't even have to do with them together, just the word licky sounds so gross), it'll probably be to show Ricky that Lily hasn't changed, and it was all a lie. Since Lily is probably featured only in a couple of episodes, I don't think they'll play off the typical card of "she had a change of heart at this point" because that would make it a bigger deal, so she probably will just say that she did what she had to do to win. Maybe this is when she tells the crew (and us) what the results of the Menkies were, leaving either satisfied bc she rubbed their win in the wildcats' faces, or leave angry wishing for revenge or smth.

How I want it to be handled, I'm not sure. I know most of this fandom hates Lily with everything they have, but I think she's a fascinating yet unlikable character. If it was me writing the season, even if it's cliché, I would try to give Lily a change of heart a little too late. I think it would be interesting to see her attitude towards competition change once she gets to know Ricky, and not see him as only a way to get in the competition's head. I think the writers aren't planning to keep Lily around long-term, but her arc could be very good if they do decide to keep her. I dare to say she could have one of those arcs where she becomes one of the favorite characters because she started out as an awful human being and ended up pretty decent because of her found family.

As for Howie, I do think they'll try to give him a redemption arc because he doesn't deserve to be hated on that much. I think he's weak before peer pressure, which is completely fine! When hating on Howie, many people overlook how difficult it actually is to stand against peer pressure. Unless you have a really strong character, it'll be hard to stand up to everyone. Howie grew up in an environment where everyone did everything in order to win, all the time, so it's only natural to think he would do the same. It doesn't make it right, but it does make us understand his character better. So when I say I think he will get a redemption arc, I think Kourtney might understand this, and possibly help him to not give into the peer pressure that drove him to be an accomplice in such a thing so easily. I don't think she will forgive him that quickly, which might be the reason for him not showing up this season, but I do hope he shows up in season 4.

I'm sorry if I made this longer than it should've been, it just excites me getting these types of asks bc i don't usually get them!

While I have no horse in the portwell v rina race, I will say, rina fans are much funnier than portwells. Like portwells are no fun in the way that it is no fun to watch a baby fall down a flight of stairs. They're whining, and you're worried for them and you wanna help. But rinas are like a grown man enthusiastically falling down the stairs for the third time. They're joking about how they're gonna throw themselves down next time and laughing maniacally as they fall. This is the slow burn they've wanted all along. They are psychotic. It's a hot mess but I enjoy it.

Okay, so just to clear a thing that people are saying in the fandom:

Yes EJ is older than Gina. Yes he will go to university at the end of the summer when Gina will be staying in High School.

People are saying than Portwell will break up because of Ricky, but also because this relationship can't continue if they are not in the same town.

Look at them, they are so cuuuute, how could people think about their breakup?!

But I have some arguments for the distance:

First: EJ is rich. If he could buy her a fly ticket, he could buy himself a fly ticket or just take his car to return to Salt Lake. Plus, knowing him, he won't let the distance distance them.

Oh and do we know the distance between Salt Lake and the university? Is this really that far?

My second argument is from the first episode of season 3. Kourtney said that Howie was busy preparing for university. That means Howie is older than Kourt, but also that Gina and Kourt are in the same situation: their boyfriends will move up when they will have to finish High School.

And did Kourtney seemed worry about Howie's going to the university? No, she seemed fine when she talked about him.

So my point is: If you think that Portwell will break up because EJ leaves the town, why aren't you thinking the same for Kowie?! What makes them different from Portwell?! If I had to choose the couple who can succeed to overcome the distance between Kowie and Portwell, I would pick Portwell.

Not that I don't believe in Kowie, but we didn't see them that much in season 2. Their relationship is very fresh, they met like three months ago.

Portwell on the other hand, knows each other since the start of the school year. They were friends first, we really saw them interact, and even if their relationship is still new, we know that EJ is very devoted to Gina.

So to all the Rina's fan: I respect your opinion, you can ship Rina and don't like Portwell if you want to. But when you are making a statement like that, don't forget that other characters could be in the same case of figure. If you want to think that Portwell will break up because of the university then you have to think the same for Kowie.

About what you said with EJ and Gina calling each other by their full name in their love confession. I think it’s likely Gina might be the one that reveals what E.J. is short for by calling him by his full name. Every time a character’s real name is revealed in HSMTMTS it’s by one of the characters love interests or they tell one of their love interests what their real name is. Nini, Ricky, Seb, Mike (Ricky’s father) and Howie’s real name were all revealed by one of their love interests. 1/2

Miss Jenn and Mr. Mazzara tell each other their real name in 1x03. I can totally picture Gina asking EJ what does E.J. stand for and he refuses to tell her what his real name is because he hates his real name. Then one day when Gina is hanging out with E.J. and his family. Then Gina overhears one of EJ’s relatives calls him by his full name and that is how she finds what E.J. is short for. 2/2

Great observation, anon! I hadn't even thought about the characters' full names being revealed by their love interests on the show.😅 And you're totally right! All those characters have had a name reveal by their love interest or potential love interest. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same for Portwell. Also, I've had the exact same scenario play out in my head, anon! I can totally picture either EJ's dad or Ashlyn just casually calling him by his full name (probably outta anger or seriousness) and Gina overhearing it. Then she teases him about being Elijah James Caswell (which is totally his name in my head 😂). I remember seeing an interview Matt did for S2 on YouTube and he said something along the lines of EJ's real name not being revealed yet because "there were some plans for that in the future" (according to a convo Matt had with Tim). I tried looking for that video, no luck LOL😭 But I'm pretty confident we're finally going to get a name reveal for him in S3. 😚

yes I’m glad to see Gina being a good friend to Kourtney yes in s1 the Nini-Kourtney friendship was pretty one-sided I’ll still go to my grave defending Nini Salazar-Roberts and her love for Kourtney Greene.

This episode was so funny because they carried over the absolute bare minimum from season 2 to season 3

#Jennzzara confession? Ignored #Howie Antoine and Jordan fisher? Vaguely remembered #Lily? Gone after 10 minutes #The only thing they kept are the romantic relationships and only barely. Like there's only one couple present this season #And seblos (not the present couple) is the only one with no threats to the relationship #Though I hope they don't actually break up redlyn bc they were one of the best from last season #Hsmtmts
