First of all, Scotland, for passing the Scottish Hate Crime Act and trying to protect trans people, thank you. Thank you for treating us as humans, thank you for recognising our identities.
However....
Tumblr media Tumblr media
fuck you JK Rowling. fuck your TERF rants that endanger our lives. fuck your Nazi attitudes.
fuck you Police Scotland for proving that you're fucks and will not take this law seriously, even when someone intentionally, repeatedly, maliciously and gleefully breaks this law in a very, very public forum.
Tumblr media
fuck you Police Scotland for not only refusing to take action when someone is breaking this law intentionally, repeatedly, maliciously and gleefully, but also proving that 1) this new law will NOT be taken seriously by you 2) this tells every TERF and Tory out there that the law is NOT valid, and that the law does NOT include queer people, specifically in this case Trans people; and 3) this tells every queer/Trans/enby/multi-sex/hermaphrodite person that we are NOT actually protected as this new law promises, and you can and will continue abusing us and destroying our lives. Fucking thanks. Cos it wasn't obvious enough that every day gets more and more dangerous for us trans/enby people, so thanks for just making it clear to the fucking world that even when someone mocks this law openly, you don't fucking care because we are not fucking people. Got it. So fuck you Police Scotland, specifically, for doing NOTHING when someone blatantly flouts this law. Fuck every one of you ACAB fuckers.
fuck everyone who still works with you, Rowling and still even speaks to you after knowing what you are.
fuck everyone who still buys anything related to the Harry Potter franchise knowing the money is going into the pocket of someone like this. Because she sends that money back out to fucking Anti-Trans orgs that hurt us.
fuck you HP fans who plan to watch her new tv show. You cannot be a fan of a massive transphobe trying to destroy us, and an ally at the same time. so fuck you.
fuck harry potter fans who wear HP merchandise stuff knowing what she has said and done, yes I don't care if you bought it before she said it, fuck you because you know exactly what she represents. Not apologising. Yeah, I'm totally judging you if you're wearing HP merch, even if especially if you're queer. I don't care how much HP meant to you as a child. I don't care about fucking nostalgia. I care about the Trans lives that are in danger every day because of monsters like this fucking woman.
fuck you Rishi Sunak for backing and legitimising this horrible woman and her bigotry.
fuck you British politics, fuck you Tories. Fuck you all for destroying this country and making every day more dangerous for Queer people.
fuck you CEO David Zaslav. fuck you Warner Bros. for being willing and happy to work with this fucking woman for her fucking franchise so she can continue to fucking make millions and fucking fund anti-trans orgs.
fuck every single one of who who protects, excuses and funds this fucking behaviour. And fuck every one of you who doesn't give a fuck at everything that is happening.
fuck these fucking fucks. fuck you TERFs and transphobes and fuck every single one of you fucking fucks.
Tumblr media
Thank you for trying, Scotland. Thank you.
But please explain to the fucking POLICE and the fucking evil POLITICIANS that this new law means we are legally recognised as protected under the Scottish Hate Crime Act, so they all need to stop fucking about and treat it seriously.
and the fucking PRIME FUCKING MINISTER fucking backing this fucking TERF. I'm not surprised, just angry.
This is on you. so, fuck you if you are supporting these fuckery fucking fucks.
As is EVERY SINGLE FUCKING INCIDENT a trans person has in this fucking country. Every time someone fucking deadnames us, every time someone intentionally misgenders us, every time someone threatens our safety, every time someone fucking assaults us? every single incident is on your fucking head, you fucking fucks.

What is your Hogwarts house?
When I was a Child, in the times before JKR started a hate train and promoted genocide on trans people, in those times I would answer that I was a Hufflepuff.
Nowadays I prefer to boycot the series and donate/do something nice to the trans community every time someone mentions HP/JKR in my presence.

For the love of G-d, HP fans, we are begging, please read a different series.
The money you're giving her, that you're pretending is harmless and okay, is being used to fund movements to strip trans people of their legal rights. Period.
There is no more excuse.

Hey. I’m a trans nonbinary person who is a HP fan, and thanks for being transparent and acknowledging that JKR sucks while also still holding a space in your heart for what HP was to you in your youth. It feels so difficult to find people like that online? The common consensus has become to condemn entirely and while that’s understandable, there are people who still love this series because it helped them through tough times and made them feel less alone. I think that’s worth noticing. Not everyone who still likes HP is automatically transphobic, nor are they someone who condones JKR’s awfulness on the many other things she unfortunately has an opinion about, and it seems like people forget you can separate the art from the artist—yes, even if said artist is still alive and kicking. Sorry if this ask is a lot. I don’t mean to start or engage in discourse. I just wanted to thank you, so again, thank you. Love your art.
I really appreciate you sharing your feelings on it! :) you’re not the first one to send me something similar actually.
Social media really shrunk my worldview, and it wasn’t until I started having these conversations outside of the internet that I realised those condemning others are actually the smaller majority haha. They’re just loud, and therefore they’re scary.
I can go to a friends house right now and have this discussion without fear of them hurting me.
I think it’s important for people to be given the space to decide how they feel about these things. To set their own boundaries.
To be an adult and say “Jk did this. And I’m not okay with it. Therefore I won’t be consuming any more Harry Potter” or to say “Jk did this. And I’m not okay with it. But I grew up with these films and they’ll always mean a-lot to me”. These two things can co exist, and neither side is evil lol. It’s literally just about deciding what is and isn’t okay for you.
Adding on; I'm referring to enjoying the films from your youth, don't financially support her in any capacity. I would like to think this goes without saying, but just to make sure.

Would I be the asshole if I refused to go on a trip?
A family friend has a 6 year old who is in a harry potter phase. I used to have the phase, I grew up, I found stuff out, now I'm not a fan, but I still own some fan stuff from the time (the books, a wand, a card game). They're covered in dust now, so I didn't mind gifting them to him. After all, it was ages ago. The friend recently started vagualy talking about a trip to London (we're czech) to the HP museum for his upcoming birthday, and asked me whether I'd be up for joining them, as she doesn't speak english well and considering my past love for the series, she thinks I'd be the perfect person to go with them and translate. I've also already visited London, unlike her, so the thinks I have some valuable experience. She offers to mostly pay for it and promises me some great stuff, she's pretty much begging me to do it.
The thing is, I'm not a big fan of JKR, for publicly known reasons, and I'd hate to support her or her work in any way. My country is very outdated when it comes to queer people, same sex marriage isn't even legalised, let alone some ultra great rights for trans folks. I'm a teenager and I'm not even trans, if I spoke to the friend or my mom about it, they wouldn't support or respect my choice and call me out on overreacting. They for sure just wouldn't understand. The friend is always there for me, I love her a lot and it feels ungrateful to dissapoint her over the one thing she's asking from me. And I love London, I'd absolutely love to see it again, god knows when I get such an opportunity, but this feels wrong. Or I could try to make up a false excuse? Am I being an asshole?
What are these acronyms?

Genuine question:
Why do U hate Harry potter?
Like i hate jk Rowling too but why do U hate hp??
Going to answer this one in good faith and give y'all a chance to fix your shit, I won't recieve any further questions on it:
Harry Potter contains multitudes of bigotry, it is racist, antisemitic, fatphobic, and transphobic. All of these things are easily googleable. Furthermore if you are continuing to be a fan of Harry Potter as a series you are in tacit support of JKR. Continuing to keep the series popular and relevant by engaging in fandom (EVEN IF YOU DON'T SPEND MONEY ON HER SHIT-- THIS ISN'T A FUCKING GOTCHA) only stands to benefit her, both socially and financially, and she uses those benefits to lobby against trans rights. These are real fucking consequences, this is real life. When you support someone's work while they are currently alive and benefiting from that support, you are supporting that person no matter how much you say you don't. Not to mention the fandom nowadays is absolutely full of terfs and I'm not going to take my chances on some cunts who value being in a shitty children's book series fandom over the comfort of trans people.
Harry Potter blogs and defenders will be blocked on site. If you give a shit about trans people get the fucking Harry Potter house names out of your url and out of your bio.

Hello can you kinda explain the whole JK rolling thing and why people hate on her a lot cuz i seen ppl do nothing but hate on her and call her transphobic and i'm so confused on it as to why
Hi! Sorry I let this ask go ignored for a little while, it's a big topic so I wanted to answer it once I have some free time; I went looking for a post that could summarize the situation but, Tumblr being what it is, I couldn't find any. So here is a quick timeline, as I remember it, as someone who was a TRA on Twitter while most of it unfolded:
in 2019, Jo followed Magdalen Berns on Twitter (I also believe she liked one of her tweets and that's how Twitter users found out she was following her). Berns was a gender critical lesbian and YouTuber who was one of the first critic of TRA misogyny.
At the time, Jo was much, much more liked than she is now, obviously. This event caused some drama, it trended for a while, but it was quickly brushed aside and things went on. In my spheres (TRA Twitter), it was seen as kind of a bad look to follow Jo on Twitter following this, but you still could get away with it.
Jo has since explained that she uses the 'like' feature on Twitter to archive things she finds interesting and wants to have a closer look at. Many believe that she probably got interested in Berns' content while writing one of the Cormoran Strike novels, a crime novel series that often explores the themes of male violence and misogyny.
in december of 2019, Jo made a tweet in support of Maya Forstater, who lost her job after misgendering a non binary colleague.
Tumblr media
After this tweet, it became forbidden to follow her on Twitter if you were a TRA. Things got worse in June of 2020, when Jo reacted to an article talking about period poverty while referring to women as 'people who menstruate':
Tumblr media
Right afterwards, she made a thread going more in details about how transactivism harms women and LGB people:
Tumblr media
(I'm pretty sure there was another, longer thread but I can't find it)
After this, former HP actors like Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson accused her of transphobia, while other actors (namely Evanna Lynch and Robbie Coltrane) defended her. She got thousands and thousands of death and rape threats, was called sexist slurs, and was threatened with doxing.
A few weeks later, she published an essay on her website, explaining her views. It is a very well-written and insightful essay that I recommend to read:
And that's pretty much it. As you can see, her position is pretty tamed. She has never been rude to anyone, she just defended sex-based rights, lesbians' right not to sleep with men, and using language accordingly. She helped thousands of poor women with her charity work, funded a rape crisis center, uplifted Iranian women, supported LGB activists and helped a hundred Afghan women escape the Talibans, but because of a few Twitter threads she made, her entire political activism has been misconstructed and boiled down to "she is a fascist who hates trans people"

Read an article recently that had a quote I feel like all of the "well I support trans rights but I really love hp!" fans need to remember.
"Being an ally means being willing to give something up, and what's more, to stand up for those who are vulnerable."
If you're not willing to give up a single game that directly supports a massive TERF (who actively supports anti trans organizations, including a "women's only" help center SHE FOUNDED that refuses trans individuals), is filled with antisemitism, and has a load of other issues, what are you willing to give up? There's more to being an ally than just saying you support the communities you claim to want to fight for. I'm honestly scared to see what people are willing to overlook just to be selfish.

have you considered that maybe you projected a bunch of stuff on tonks that wasnt there and reading further into the books simply proved you wrong? (for example, the fact that you say she hates being called dora, when what she says she hates is her full name, nymphadora). not every woman has to want kids and be married, but why should tonks have been that woman when she wasnt intended to be so, your own sterotypes on her "type" of character aside? because you liked her?
ok first things first -- you're right about one thing -- Tonks wasn't written to be a queer character. Like at all. I don't think jkr intended anyone in the hp series to be queer,, not even dumbledore (that was definitely an afterthought lol). Any reading of queerness is subtextual no doubt.
That being said,, queerness in media, especially children's media, before 2010 is almost always subtextual. It is very difficult to find any canonical queer characters in 90s/2000s children's media. Queer ppl are still gonna read these books however. And a lot of us relate to a certain 'type' (as you put it) of character -- usually ones that are 'different', don't conform, etc, etc.
A lot of queer hp fans saw themselves in Remus (ostracized for his lycanthropy aids metaphor -- which is not a very well done metaphor but i digress) or Tonks, in her disregard for femininity, tomboyish ways and spunky nature.
Now the problem I have with people saying that we can't headcanon characters who have stereotypically queer traits is --- well who would u rather we headcanon as queer then? It's unrealistic that every single person in the harry potter universe is a raging cis heterosexual -- thats just not how life works lol. Sometimes people will say, 'hc some one as queer that's not a stereotype'. Ok would you rather me headcanon ron as trans? Hermione as a lesbian? because i can provide analysis' for those readings too. But then the argument would be,, 'there is nothing queer about these characters you're just making shit up'.
What I'm trying to say, is that these questions feel like a trap. If we headcanon characters who have traits that alot of queer ppl have the argument is 'you're just stereotyping!!!' If we headcanon people that have traits that aren't especially common with queer folk then the argument is that we're 'just grasping for straws'. The only correct answer in this scenario is to not headcanon anybody as queer for the sake of not hurting cishet ppl's feelings.
also i just wanna add that tonks is not the only tomboyish character in the series!! We have Ginny, the girls on the quidditch team and probably more that I'm forgetting -- plenty of str8 tomboyish characters to go around lol.
I think you'll find that queer ppl aren't as obsessed with queer headcanons as u think -- we just want representation. You'll find in a lot of fandoms that centre around queer shows like the owl house, heartstoppper, our flag means death,, people generally just accept the sexualities presented to them because there are already canonical queer characters in the show.
