Finally, the character listed as ‘Boy 1’ in PoA end credits gets some recognition…
Yup. Turns out the boy who dramatically delivers the most foreboding, ominous lines of the movie actually has a name!
May I present you Bem. Bem is a wizard of Nigerian descent. He attended Hogwarts the same year Harry did and was sorted in Gryffindor too.
He was also a resourceful member of Dumbelore’s Army during fifth year. Being very well read himself, he did not believe at all in the tyrannical so-called ‘pedagogy’ implanted by our - oh very dear - Dolores Umbridge.
By then, he appeared to have mysteriously switched houses by proudly displaying the Ravenclaw’s uniform. (A premiere in Hogwart’s history?!). A sudden change which - quite curiously - none of his peers seem to have acknowledged at the time.
He would be 42 or 43 years today (his precise date of birth remains unknown). Anyways, that is if he survived the War, which - of course - the story doesn’t tell.
I like to think he did survive by using mostly his mystical insight and other pacifist methods of mediation, in thus honoring the etymological roots of his first name meaning ‘peace’ in the Tiv language from Nigeria.
Although his few appearances (in PoA and OotP) remain non-canonical (his character is absent from the books), I hope Bem rests in peace, wherever he is.
Now, up to you, me - or should I say us - lore keepers and fan fics writers, to make sure Bem’s name remains above the ravenous waters of anonymity!

something shifts in hermione in prisoner of azkaban. the pink-sweater blue-jeans outfit brings out the fire in her and she’s suddenly way more than the brains-only-academic-scholar that everybody has come to know.
and it’s INCREDIBLE.
the fact that she’s been using the time-turner all year to make her classes, the so-deserved malfoy punch, her stepping between sirius and harry (while they still thought he was going to kill harry), the whole process of risking everything while on the rescue-buckbeak mission and throwing rocks to get their attention, luring a werewolf in their direction to get him away from harry and sirius, etc etc etc.
we obviously knew that she was wise and smart and stuff, but the bravery, courage and loyalty that landed her in gryffindor really came out in this movie and it was so refreshing to see.

The sheer fact that the writers involved with script to Prisoner of Azkaban included a line "Oh, you'd know everything about madness within, wouldn't you, Remus?" (or something to that extend) and not make Sirius "Padfruit" Black(TM) slip him a little tongue right there and there is, pun intended, CRIMINAL-

The HP movies committed many crimes, but one I still have a grudge over is putting Draco and his parents in all black. You can't tell me that family didn't bedazzle themselves in greens and purples.

12 YEARS LATER|S.O BLACK
Author’s note; will definitely be a part 2 to this.
Pairing; Young/POA!Sirius Black x Fem!wife!reader
Summary; 12 years after having your life ripped to pieces your godson walks into your home after returning home from Hogwarts and he’s invited someone else to come as well.
Warnings; Angst? Fluff.
HP/Marauders Master List
Tumblr media
You had tried keeping him out in the beginning, your heart would not be able to bear the pain that a playboy could cause. You had told him so, there would be no chance of you two ever happening, never thinking his womanising personality would change, especially not for someone like you.
But if Sirius Black was anything he was unrelenting, he was determined and genuine in his advances and soon you found your heart fluttering with each sparkling smile and cheeky wink he sent your way.
Each touch would send a spark of electricity shooting through your veins and each lingering stare would burn into your skin, each a reminder of him even when you were apart.
You were sixteen when the pair of you became official, a third of your way through your sixth year of Hogwarts and the pair of you were wrapped up in coats and scarfs, adorned with a heating charm to protect you both from the cool February air at the top of the Astronomy tower.
Who knew Sirius Orion Black could be a romantic?
In that moment as he held you under the night sky, holding your hand as he raised them both into the sky, directing you to where his namesake lay, how could you have said anything but yes to him.
You had spent the best years of your life with him, moving in together at seventeen, engaged at eighteen, married at nineteen, godparents at twenty and well, twenty one had left you and your godson alone.
All Hallows’ Eve of 1981 is a day you never want to remember but it’s a day that remains as a permanent scar on your brain.
Your closest friends had lost their lives, their son had lost their parents, Remus had disappeared without a trace, Peter was dead and your Sirius had been taken to Azkaban.
You didn’t have time to grieve, you had a child to raise and offer him the best life you could and you did.
You watched him adjust to walking by himself, learn how to confess his wants and needs with more than just childish babbles and each day you’d witness as he showed more and more qualities of his parents.
Not only did he share most of his features with James Potter but he also shared his father’s cheeky personality and charisma.
However, the times where you saw Lily in him shined bright; when he’d offer to share any treat with you or when he’d climb into your bed to protect you from the monsters (you knew it was for his own comfort but it still melted your heart).
Now, that little boy was a young man and whilst it was becoming common for him to give you near heart attacks, you couldn’t be more proud of how intelligent and brave he was.
You truly saw his maturity earlier in the year when you’d had to sit him down and tell him the news of Sirius Black, that his godfather had escaped the prison he was put into for the betrayal of James and Lily Potter.
He had been hurt, you had seen that but he had handled it with grace and was more concerned about how you felt than the possible danger he was in, because you were the most important person in his life.
It was now the end of June, you had allowed Harry to make his own way home from Platform nine and three quarters upon his own request, believing he was now old enough to have that extra freedom.
It left you at home to make his favourite meal for when he gets home alone with his favourite snacks, movie and blankets set up in the living room for a movie night after dinner.
It was around five in the evening when you heard the front door being thrown open followed by the dumping of his bags and trunk being dumped on the floor.
Then heavy footsteps pounded through the hallway, shortly followed by your vision being clouded by a mess of jet black hair as Harry launched himself into your arms.
"Merlin, Harry! You’re going to break one of my ribs if you keep growing," you exclaimed, wrapping your arms around him, he was growing far too quickly for your liking.
"I had the best year ever, Y/N!" He told you as he pulled out of your arms. "I think I passed all of my tests except divination but that’s a load of rubbish anyways, Hogsmeade was so much fun and Professor Lupin was actually a good teacher- oh, he told me to tell you he misses you by the way and that he’s sorry for leaving."
You smiled tightly, Harry had told you in his first letter about ‘Professor Lupin’ and whilst you were glad he had a good teacher, it was hard to ignore the pain that came with his name, he had left you and Harry alone in a time where you should’ve been able to rely on each other, you weren’t ready to see him or speak to him again.
"I’m glad you had a good year, Harry," you replied sincerely, turning back to watch the food as he continued speaking.
"Oh, and I met Sirius Black! He’s innocent so don’t worry about it, he’s actually amazing!"
You whipped your head around as the colour drained from your face. "You what?"
Harry couldn’t keep the smile from his face as he nodded "you’ll never believe it, I didn’t believe it in the beginning either but Sirius wasn’t mum and dad’s secret keeper, it was Peter Pettigrew that was secretly working for Voldemort and after my parents were murdered Sirius went to confront him but Pettigrew framed him, chopped off his finger and turned into a rat; can you believe he’s an Animagus!?"
He didn’t seem to realise how you weren’t matching his enthusiasm or how pale you’d gotten.
"Did you know Sirius could turn into a dog?"
"Harry…" you ignored his question. "You’ve seen Sirius? You’ve spoken to him?"
"Yeah!" He replied enthusiastically, not paying attention to the tone of your voice. "I wanted to talk to you about that actually, can he come and stay with us? I assumed it would be okay because the two of you are married and I thought we could be a proper family then."
You couldn’t even process what he was saying, it was as though you had completely disassociated, how could you even fathom seeing Sirius again?
The man you had loved and married all of those years ago, you hadn’t seen him in twelve years, you were two completely different people right now. He had been through unfathomable hell, hell that you couldn’t even begun to imagine and you had changed beyond belief, for Harry to believe you could just start over and pretend nothing happened was ridiculous.
And if Sirius believed that too then he was completely mad if not plain stupid.
A scratching at the door drew both your’s and Harry’s attention and the way his eyes lit up made you feel sick to your stomach. "Harry," you spoke faintly, "what is that?"
Harry titled his head at you curiously, "Well I told him where we lived so he could come and visit me, he was glad you hadn’t moved and well he wanted to see you as well."
You slowly shook your head, feeling completely overwhelmed at everything that had just been shot at you in such a small amount of time. "No no no no no, he can’t be here," you muttered frantically.
"What do you mean?" Your godson asked dumbly.
"I mean that he can’t just show up here out of the blue with absolutely no warning, we can’t just pretend that the past twelve years haven’t happened, Harry. It doesn’t work like that. We’ve both changed and we aren’t going to go back to being husband and wife. I’m happy you have your godfather back, Harry, I truly am but you need to give me some warning for this."
Harry slumped in his seat at the kitchen table. "What, so I tell him to leave? We have so much to catch up on."
The disappointed look on his face made your heart break, you had always struggled saying no to him and had probably spoilt him more than you should have but knowing that the man you had loved more than anything was on the opposite side of the door filled you with a sense of dread.
But how could you take this away from him?
You couldn’t, it was as simple as that.
You’d face your husband for the first time in over a decade if that made Harry happy because that’s all you had lived for the past twelve years, making your godson happy.
"Go and open the door," you regretfully nodded your head towards the front door, joy built up in Harry’s face as he jumped up and rushed for the front door whilst you simply stood alone in the kitchen waiting for your past to come and hit you in the face.
What were you even going to say to him?

Since you said POA is your fav book and film as well, I was wondering, do you think there was anything the film did better than the book?
Here's why Prisoner of Azkaban is the best HP movie:
The change in tone and color grading. The opening of this movie immediately tells you that something has changed.
Harry feels the most Harry in this movie. He's talking back, and we see him start to get frustrated with the Wizard World.
Alfonzo Cuaron's style bleeds into this movie. There's a reason it feels so fresh compared to the others in the series.
The one shot long-takes. (Mr. Weasley talking to Harry, Lupin and Harry on the bridge, Snape confronting Sirius and Remus, etc.)
The actors putting their own uniforms together. Ties done the wrong way, untucked shirts, sleeves rolled up - it all adds so much personality.
The action is maintained from beginning to end. The pacing in this movie is done the best (HBD is a close second).
Things I like that weren't in the books:
The Frog Choir scene. It honestly gives me chills. Makes me wish they had the Sorting Hat song in the first movie.
Harry joking around with the others about how the Fat Lady can't sing.
The boys goofing off in their dorm room and then the pan out to the water where the Dementors were watching.
Hermione appearing out of nowhere (because she was using the time turner) and scaring Ron.
The last shot with Harry on the broom.

9, 17, and 28 for the Snape asks!
Thank you for asking :) 9. One of your saddest [headcanons for Snape]? I like the idea that he got his Dark Mark for telling Voldie about the prophecy, the dark irony of receiving something he probably wanted for so long at the exact moment he wouldn't want it anymore. To be branded by his greatest regret. I also sometimes like to think that he was the one who invented the Dark Mark spell. I know canonically both Dumbledore and Voldemort invented things, but I don't buy it. They don't strike me as the hard-working types, but maybe that's not so much sad as twisted lol. 17. What rubs you the wrong way about how he’s portrayed in fanon/fan fiction? I don't read fan fiction so I don't know what goes on there, but like all snape fans I was always very irritated at mischaracterizations and/or exaggerations by snaters. In fact, that was the reason I made this snlog, to be able to look at the good stuff while avoiding the sh*t takes and insane nonsense. I'm slightly inured to it now though! But it was sad, seeing people misconstrue what is one of the best and nicest parts of HP which is Harry Potter choosing to honor the best of him and forgive the rest — part of growing up is realizing that adults were only human, but I guess that's something that a lot of people don't want to do 🙄 28. Did you make it through OotP, HBP, and DE not knowing what JKR had in store for Snape’s character? Or had those things been spoiled for you beforehand? I hated OOTP so much that I put HP away with childish things lol. I remember thinking, "Well we had a good run. I'll just pretend it ended with POA. I won't find out what's happening with and clearly that's going somewhere but oh well". So Snape killing Dumbledore was spoiled for me later, but I could not have cared less and I might even have forgotten it by the time I had nothing to do one day and picked up my sister's copy of HBP and ended up loving it so so much. I hadn't heard anything about DE by the time I read it so nothing was spoiled for me and I haaaaated it. Even some of the Snape scenes (I did not like the doe patronus, and there seems to me to be lots of inconsistencies or out-and-out errors in that book). Generally, I considered that it was obvious that Snape was going to be working on the good side because it would be a very boring twist for him to be bad, That is until HBP, when I thought there must be some third thing other than A) working for Voldemort or B) working for Dumbledore. Of course, I was wrong there but I did like most of the story especially after finally watching the last movie where I think his death scene is much improved from the book version.

heyyy
so i’ve been a part of the marauders fandom for like a year or two and i realised i have no idea how i got into it lol
i was wondering if you remember how you first got into the fandom? and if there’s any headcanons you have from when you first joined?
<3
Hi!
Here's the long story lol:
So I got into Harry Potter when I was in first grade. My father told me he wouldn't let me see the movie until I read the book. (He sucks in a lot of ways, but that decision was 10/10). I didn't really get OBSESSED with the books until after I read POA though.
I was obsessed with the original HP series all through school, and I used it as a coping mechanism through a relatively difficult childhood. I read a LOT of fanfic for canon couples, and even wrote a few, but I never really joined the fandom in a more extensive way because I had a lot of social anxiety. I also had no idea it really existed. At the time, I was very sheltered from queer culture and denying my identity to myself, so I thought the queer headcanons were weird. When I got to late high school, the hyperfixation faded but I was still known as a Harry Potter nerd and it held a soft spot in my heart.
Fastforward to a year ago, I'm now fully out and have been for years. All the Young Dudes randomly popped up on my TikTok feed and I thought wolfstar sounded interesting, I was bored, so I pulled it up. I had NO idea what I was getting into. AAAAAANNND now I'm here. So I've basically done a complete 180 from when I first was introduced to Harry Potter lol. Because now all my ships are gay.
I'm glad you're in the fandom! <3 <3 <3

I just read that when making the movie for Order of the Phoenix, that actors for Remus and Sirius were told their characters were gay, is that true?? I wasn't in the fandom when the movies were made
It was in Prisoner of Azkaban. After Dumbledore being gay was revealed, Remus’ actor David Thewlis said he was suprised because he played Remus as gay. The director Alfanso Cuaron described his character to him as a “gay junkie”. OOTP wasn’t out when they were filming so it was the directors interpretation.
Yeah, so think about Sirius’ “ you know the man you truly are, this heart is where you truly live” and Snape’s “quarrelling like an old married couple” lines in the light of that.
Though I’d like to say, the time between GOF and OOTP was long and after POA online HP communities were brimming with Wolfstar. People were convinced that R/S was intentional. JKR was aware of this, she even sent one ff site a cease and desist letter. She didn’t like people shipping Wolfstar and she didn’t like being asked if Sirius was gay. The abrupt Remus/Tonks and Sirius’ death in OOTP read differently in that context imo.

Rewatching the PoA movie as I do chores, and I gotta pause while I’m thinking about this.
People who know me even slightly understand that this is my least favorite HP movie. In my opinion, it totally misses the point of the book and tries to simply hit plot points without understand what ties them all together.
If this is YOUR movie and you LOVE IT, this post is NOT for you! Save yourself some grief and don’t click the ‘read more’ below.
Here’s what the film does right:
- Wise/playful Sirius. We get a wink and nice touchy moment with Harry, and I see a glimpse of the Sirius I love here. This is good! The quiet moments with Gary Oldman is Sirius are VERY good. As time goes on, I am much more confident that Oldman would’ve made a very good Sirius given the opportunity. That intimate scene with Harry and Sirius at the end is a good cinematic interpretation of the internal longing Harry expresses to the reader.
Okay, that’s it. That’s all I like.
Nitpicky bits:
- The editing is just. Weird. We see ONE dinner scene with Marge and it seems like Harry just blows up one night (or blows her up lol) as if he’s just got a short fuse. Harry is a quiet person. He watches, he listens, he puts up with shit until he breaks. This scene needed to be longer, it needed to have more tension. We needed to understand the deal between Uncle Vernon and Harry + signing the permission form for Hogsmeade. One way this could have been shot with Harry at the table with everyone and slooooooow down the conversation. Build the tension. Close-ups, shots of Harry trying to pretend he doesn’t hear her. The book scene is very tense because Harry is quiet as they are talking about him as if he’s not there. THEN, he quietly speaks, drawing their attention.
- Don’t get me started on the Firebolt scene.
- Sirius saying when Remus is transforming “OH NO HE DIDN’T TAKE HIS POTION” as if Remus regularly took Wolfsbane back in the day? And then Sirius pleading with Remus not to transform??? Like Sirius, I think you know werewolves don’t work like that.
- I hate the werewolf design. It doesn’t HAVE to look like the wolf in canon (which is nearly indistinguishable from a regular wolf), but damn, it just didn’t do it for me.
- When Harry sees Peter on the Map??? Dude that was so dumb.
- The scene with the animal noises? Why? I don’t care about the other boys in Gryffindor. Show me why the trio are close other than out of loyalty (something that the books honestly miss out on)
- Remus being so upfront with Harry that he knew his parents and then focussing on LILY??? And also, part of what we learn over time in the book is that Remus knew James but refuses to indulge Harry. He keeps all of that secret—the mystery of Remus is completely wasted in this movie. I would have personally played this up in the film. Build him up as the “cool” professor who holds back emotionally. The payoff when he shows up at the end at the Shrieking Shack would be like, “Oh shit! I knew there was something off about him!” when it seems like he’s helping Sirius. Then, he would have to earn back the audience’s trust just like he does with the trio.
- The Aesthetic: this movie relies on aesthetic so much more than “what makes sense narratively.” There is so much winking at the audience by the filmmakers it drives me bonkers. Anytime something weird happens, they’re like, “Haha this weird thing is NORMAL in the wizarding world! Look at how weird it is! But for them! It’s normal!” Like jfc we get it. I know the first two movies are like, “look at how beautiful magic and cool is” but GOD. This is the film where we need magic to be “normalized.” We get it. We’re three films in. This is a magical world. These cheesy, winking-at-the-camera moments aren’t even like…cute or fun. They’re boring and uncreative. “Oh, how about a maid opens a door and a monster screams at her and she’s bland about it.” Like. Is it supposed to be funny? Because…it’s boring.
When you’re focused on Vibes rather than Character, everyone turns into a cheap, bland caricature. The filmmakers do NOT understand who the characters are. Even in Sorcerer’s Stone, Ron is the comic relief but we understand that he is fiercely loyal. In PoA, he is pure comic relief. They don’t even understand Harry. Both his and Ron’s lines are given to Hermione in the Shack scene which is like…why????
But this is the problem. At the heart of every scene, it was as if the filmmakers didn’t understand why the scene was there. In the film, Harry is an angsty teenager and things happen TO him. Oh sure, they want to show that Harry feels something but…we don’t really, as an audience, FEEL it. They TRY to force that emotional tension by rushing events along and then showing Harry crying sometimes and yelling his feelings. yawn, honestly.
- There is SO MUCH SHOUTING in this film. Harry screams about killing Sirius when he hears the Minister/McGonagall/Rosmerta talking about the betrayal. This was so…poorly done. This boy needs to close himself off from his friends and stew in his hatred, not scream about it. We need to be angry with him, not feel sad for him. We need to want to kill Sirius too.
HOW THEY SHOULD’VE DONE THE BETRAYAL EXPLANATION SCENE:
Look, it would’ve been a boring movie scene if they’d done it like the book. This is not an adaptation-friendly book, and I’ll be the first to admit it. BUT. What they could have done was this: use flashbacks and montages. They do it in Sorcerer’s Stone when Hagrid explains how the Potters died and it’s effective—you see Lily panicking, dying, and then you see cute little Harry with a wand in his face. That’s emotional!
This scene in The Three Broomsticks should have been a flashback with voiceover from Fudge/McGonagall/Rosmerta/Hagrid. It should have shown us Sirius and James being best friends at Hogwarts. With them, we could see Peter and Remus (who we wouldn’t know was Lupin). Then, we should have seen Hagrid arguing with Sirius about who gets Harry (the little devil in me wants to hear Sirius’s voice break, but also, we should feel like Sirius is going to harm the baby Harry). Thennnnnnn we should have seen what the Muggle witnesses saw — Peter crying that Sirius betrayed Lily and James, a misleading explosion, and then Sirius laughing. Thennnnn a close-up of Peter’s finger. Back to present.
Why is this effective and why would it build tension? As the audience, we need to be presented with proof that Sirius is a bad guy. We need to understand why this guy’s gotta be caught!
Also, show us how scary Sirius is by reeeaaaallly playing it up with a scene with the Minister in Azkaban—quiet, sinister Sirius please. Again, give us the tension! (Sirius acting all crazy in the wanted posters instead of the book’s slow blinking, empty-eyed prisoner totally misses the mark for me.) Then, show us him sleeping and talking in his sleep.
This would have been effective becaaaaaaause you could have brought back this flashback in the Shrieking Shack scene.
Which brings me to: The Shrieking Shack scene.
The most disappointing part of the film, in my opinion.
This is supposed to be it—the built-up tension (which never actually happens) finally explodes here. But the movie holds no tension so this scene is reduced to a lot of yelling in the movie. And of course Hermione taking everyone’s lines for some reason.
As as audience, we can’t just be scared. We should be angry. Sirius needs to be quiet, softer. He’s lured Harry away from safety by kidnapping his friend. He needs to be grinning, taunting Harry (I mean, he’s not, but it sounds like it). We need to feel like Sirius is just fucking AWFUL. Sirius MUST compare Harry and Ron to James and himself. Stretch this out like a rubber band until it snaps—until Harry snaps. GOD THIS COULD HAVE BEEN SUCH A JUICY SCENE.
The explanation should have been all voiceover—Remus explaining what happened over shots of the Marauders’ time at Hogwarts. Otherwise, it’s weird that we don’t have an explanation of the Marauders…at all??
When Sirius explains what really happened November 1st, we would see shots that the original flashback didn’t show (Peter looking miffed/jealous/“suspicious” behind everyone’s backs, Peter becoming Secret Keeper, a shady glimpse Peter kneeling before a faceless Voldemort or some shit, and then finally—the missing shots from the explosion in the flashback from earlier in the film.) Then, let’s see Sirius wasting away in Azkaban, growing older and older. Give us the EMOTIONAL WEIGHT. Then, Sirius’s voice breaks and we cut back to the present. We see the trio fighting with their own interpretations with close-ups.
(I also wanna see Sirius seeing the photograph of Pettigrew when he’s explaining how he knew Peter was alive.)
Also, also. Peter needs to be the Gollum of this film. Gives us watery eyes, precious. There has to be a reason he isn’t dead, and it’s because he’s so pathetic, no one can kill him. As an audience, we need to be like, “GOD, he is SO PATHETIC and defenseless!” The idea of killing Peter should be like killing a really ugly puppy. Like…ughhhh, I just can’t do it! Show us why Harry saves him. We need to see gross begging, manipulative sobbing, and completely emotionless Sirius and Remus, watching and getting ready to kill him.
Why does the film miss the mark? Because it’s about friendship, and the filmmakers had no idea.
The subplot of the book is seemingly Hermione and Ron being on the outs because of Crookshanks and Scabbers, but like Peter does with the Marauders during the war, Scabbers drives a wedge between the trio. He seems so innocent and we think CROOKSHANKS is the problem, but it’s the quiet spy. (Sure, Hermione was a dick about her cat and if Scabbers hadn’t been Peter, it would’ve been different—I get that. Not excusing Hermione. But stick with me). Up until now, the trio’s friendship hasn’t been tested by personal problems, and now, we see how Harry and Ron respond to a challenging situation with a friend.
Which. I don’t think that’s the subplot. I think this is the crux of this book.
Harry and Ron fail very hard at friendship in this story. They fail Hermione who, while extremely flawed and misguided, has good intentions. Harry treats her with indifference and then ignores her; Ron treats her with outright antagonism. They fail Hagrid miserably when it comes to Buckbeak, and we find out that Hermione has been doing her best to help Hagrid despite being rejected by Harry and Ron. And this is important to the overall situation with Sirius Black because before we find out the truth, we think Sirius was a bad friend.
Okay, let me talk about the Firebolt now because the Firebolt was never really about Sirius.
The Firebolt plot was so crucial to the story that it’s outrageous they cut this out of the movie. (But the filmmakers had no idea PoA was about friendship so I guess whatever.) When Harry loses his Nimbus to the Whomping Willow, he expresses that it “felt like he had lost a friend” so when he gets a new broom that he really wants, he’s willing to sacrifice his true, human friend for it. He rejects Hermione because she told on him to McGonagall to keep him safe—not her best move but honestly, if Sirius had really wanted to kill Harry, it would have been very easy for him.
When you are making an adaptation of a book, you must ask essential questions. What is the POINT of this film? What is the lesson we are showing? Every part of that film should be building up to demonstrate that point. Trying to hit every plot point without knowing why is so lazy. “I want to make a Harry Potter film—but the tone has changed. It’s DARK now. You gotta know—he’s an ANGSTY TEEN!” Yeah, that does nothing for me, dude.
Harry’s willingness to sacrifice himself for his friends in the Shack is supposed to show that he is capable of growth and that friendship/love should come before all else. You need to be able to forgive (Snape subplot/Hermione subplot), and you should be willing to set aside petty quarrels/greed for your friends (Firebolt subplot/Peter subplot). Sure, the plot is that “a murderer breaks out of prison and wants to kill Harry Potter” but it’s not what the film is ABOUT.
If Sorcerer’s Stone is about making friends and building a friendship, Prisoner of Azkaban asks the question, “What happens when the honeymoon is over? What happens when my friends reveal glaring flaws? What happens when those flaws affect ME?”
Anyway, I really tried to give this movie another chance (I’ve seen it about 6-7 times since it came out), and it STILL does not do it for me. I’ve come around to Gary Oldman as Sirius (but not when he’s yelling or hysterical—does he EVER yell in the books?), but that’s it.

Ooooh my love, ive just had a devastatingly brilliant idea for a fic while reading another (i also had to do a little research on HP ghosts as well). Of course only if you have the time and feel like it x
What if slytherin!reader went to hogwarts with the marauders + lily and was wolfstar!Sirius' little sisters but she died tragically/mysteriously before graduating. Now shes one of the ghost at Hogwarts because she wasn't finished proving her brothers innocence. Skip to PoA, shes sooo excited about Remus (Remmy) being there and having a part of her family back. She'd missed him so much. So on the night with pettigrew, Remus made her wait in the castle for 'safety' (hes still 1 of her 4 older brothers) but if he wasnt back to come get him when the moon was nearly at its peak. And she does, appearring in the willow causing both Black siblings to pause. Reader because she finally found Sirius, but him because no one had bothered to tell him she was dead. But a happy ending where Remus stays professor, Sirius is pardoned and they both live on Hogwarts ground with reader and Harry (and maybe even Mattheo because technically he is just another child of Black suffering at his parents hands)
Side note: I also imagine her attending classes, being a pain in Snape's ass (especially when he's mean to Harry - she definetly favours him), standing up for the 🐍boys (taking them under her wing) and messing around with Peeves.
Anyway darling, love you lots and i hope your midterms go well!! Try not to stress over them too much and take care of yourself xx
Hi my lovely!! Let me tell you, I had SUCH a good time reading this over and over. I feel like it's already so fully fleshed that I wouldn't really have much to add, so I hope it's alright if I just share it like this? (The people need to see and left to my own devices it might sit in my inbox for months </3) I'm particularly obsessed with the idea of big brother Remus, I've always wanted an older brother (though I've been told repeatedly they're bullies) and I feel like he would be so soft and kind even if he does get annoyed with you sometimes. And thank you for giving our poor boys the happy ending they deserve :')
Love you so much sweetheart! My midterms did in fact go well and this week I'm rewarding myself with Halloween movies and coziness, hope you're taking care of yourself just as well (if not better, you deserve the world) <33
