“Carewyn stayed close to Orion the entire time, her heart swelling to a size she could hardly contain. It didn’t matter how everyone in the room stared, or even how many women in the room like her cousins glared – all she could do was focus on Orion, both out of a desire to keep him safe and out of pure joy, being able to dance with him again. At the Festival, she’d expressed disbelief that they’d ever dance at a grand ball like this…oh, if she’d only known! If she’d only known how happy she would be, dancing in his arms in front of the whole world…”
~HPHM Cinderella AU Part 18: Saving Orion
x~x~x~x
Hahaha, guess this is how I manage to post some Masquerade-ish content for Carewyn in light of that recent sidequest! 😂
But yes! In the Cinderella AU, the ball where Orion and Carewyn end up is -- fittingly -- a masquerade...so in light of the masquerade event from HPHM’s canon, as well as Valentine’s Day, here’s some redone art of my babies dancing together, decked out in their ball costumes: a robin (for Carewyn) and a magpie (for Orion). There is symbolism involved with both of these choices, which I discussed in the notes for the AU, but on a more personal note, in my canon for these characters, Carewyn’s Animagus form is a robin, while Orion eventually works for the Montrose Magpies Quidditch team. 💚
My accompaniment while working on this included “Ten Minutes Ago” from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, “Secret Kingdom” from The Slipper and the Rose, and “Lavender’s Blue” from Cinderella (2015).
So i was wondering what inspired you to start the Artemis quote series ?
Also can we get some spoilers for year 6 🙈🙈I'm too excited for it
Thanks for the ask, little one! 💛
First question is easy to answer - I was watching a stand up comedy show on TV, and the comedian (Joe Lycett - he’s hilarious) was talking about how “inspirational quotes” annoy him, so he had made an Instagram account solely to make up and post really bad ones. They were funny, so I thought I’d give it a go with one-liners from some of my stories.
As for the second question, it’s a little harder to answer. As always, Y6 of the Saga will be an adaptation of the corresponding year of HPHM gameplay. I use the word “adaptation” because although I base the stories on the game plot, I alter a lot of details to make it a cohesive story.
Year six is probably the year that has been most altered from its original form so far, especially the second half of it. To give the story room to breathe, I have had to cut/move some plot points. A lot of year six gameplay you won’t be seeing at all, and some has been moved to the draft for year seven.
As always, I’ve tried to thread in some sidequests (or at least nods to them). In year 6, there are references to the Adventures in Curse-Breaking, Lone Wolf, Gift of Gratitude, Valentine’s Ball, and - completely accidentally, as these scenes were both written before the sidequests dropped - Burrow Party and Mirror of Erised.
Other than that you will just have to wait and see…
not particularly, it’s common to see me venting about it on here every february because That Day is just so... suffocating. that being said, if it’s cute enough in fiction then i can stan it in those particular circumstances, haha (like a particular episode of ml, or a certain sidequest of hphm, for example...)
14. best part of being aropec?
it feels very freeing! sometimes i see the pressure other people go through, dealing with romantic relationships, and to be able to come to terms with not needing or wanting to have one myself is like a huge weight off my mind. also, the best and coolest character in the universe aka alix kubdel is aro too so basically i win
33. how long have you been identifying as arospec?
i’ve considered myself at least somewhere on the aro spectrum (i think i called myself greyromantic) since i was a teenager, since i used to joke about being “forever alone” and cared less about real life romance than most people. it wasn’t until a few years ago that i started identifying as just aro. a few weeks before gigantitan aired, if i remember right, which was one hell of a coincidence tbh
Wait hi i just started hphm and im on year 2, can u date/romance multiple characters throughout the years?
Hey! Welcome aboard! You’re in for a great story. It’s a little slow to start off, but it gets really good the further in you get.
You very much can romance characters as the game goes on, through the time-limited sidequests (TLSQs) that occasionally load for your game. Maybe you’ve already encountered them before. But there are three to look out for - The Celestial Ball, The First Date, and Valentines Day. The first two start spawning in Fourth Year, and the third spawns in fifth year. I would advise completing them in that order if you can, because I believe they’re meant to take place in sequential order and I’m genuinely not sure if you might lock yourself out of say, getting the Celestial Ball, if you complete the First Date beforehand.
It is indeed possible to romance multiple characters over the course of the quests. Fair warning - you may even find you have to do that as some of the choices disappear. For whatever reason, you cannot fully commit to romancing Rowan, Ben, Ismelda, or Tulip, because by the third quest, they all get removed. (But Talbott gets added in the second one, so there’s that.) Nothing really happens if you switch who you romance, but you might find that it makes your previous choice sad that you didn’t stick to them...
