jade: ran for vice president of the gsa while also being president of mathletes team and treasurer for art club. publicly apologized for the conflict of interest once she read in the official pledge that you can't be an elected official in more than two different clubs and then banned herself publicly at her inauguration. no one brought this up btw she just did this herself

jane: caught eating at chick-fil-a in someone's private story at 2 in the morning which also got her kicked out of theatre club for breaking the vegan pledge signed amongst the ensemble cast. is currently in shambles.

Heartstopper fandom, i hope you're fucking proud of yourselves.

I would have loved to see Kit's journey into accepting himself as bisexual, to see him flourish into being comfortable with who he is and to be able to proudly say hey, i'm bi!

Instead Kit and his rumored gf Maia were harassed to no end, people even rumoring how Kit will get her pregnant, got sent death threats. All because people say they wanted "authentic casting". People are literally saying they cast the wrong person bc he isn't blonde.

In my opinion, heartstopper has a beautiful and authentic cast. And even if Kit weren't bi, he's so passionate about heartstopper, about supporting the queer community and his queer friends (walking london pride w them, yelling at homophobes, knowing while even though he was there it was Joe, Bash and Cori who were the ones dancing closely and flipping off homophobes so he called out a journalist who said it was him). He's literally one of the kindest 18yr old actors i've ever had the pleasure of witnessing on tv. He deserves the absolute world, and yet he gets treated like absolute garbage.

I'm just so done with the hs fandom. You people don't deserve Kit, Joe or Bash. You don't deserve that lovely little show. Hope you feel miserable for the rest of your measly little life.

The other problem with applying power scaling to Scratch is that it ignores his modus operandi, and his personality. Cause Scratch is a smug prick who thinks that he's better than everyone else, up to and to a degree, including his boss. This extends to why he doesn't get involed directly with people, and "helps" some of the cast with their wishes, as well. (This is also why I find him narratively controlling MSPAR in FS to be a little lame). Because why dirty your hands with people beneath you, when you could both prove your superiority and genius by being the living embodiment of the phrase "give someone enough rope, and they'll hang themselves"?

His pride is also his main weakness, however. He is so assured that he has everything under control, that it allows things to slip through the cracks. See: Vriska with the cueball, and Slick making out with Snowman. Not only does this prove that he is still prone to "human" error, but both of those times it immediately destroys his facade. For as much as he tries to appear better than LE, the second something goes wrong, he starts shouting and getting violent, just like the idiot he calls a boss.

YEAH he's great. You're exactly right! Omnipotence, as seen from an angle, a perspective of being a 'God', a full-on Capital G God, the idea of a completely flawless being with ultimate power, just doesn't fit the narrative well. It's just more fun when the so-called Omnipotent Characters fuck up. Be it Hubris, be it a conceptual ability that gets to them... HS Powers are not a solid power scale that determines Who's Stronger and Unbeatable.

hunger games anon here and yes!!! so many connections and references it was so overwhelming when the dots connected. i loved lucy gray so much (and im a long time fan of rachel zegler (since she was a junior in hs making yt covers in her bedroom lol) so i am so excited to see her play lucy (and it feels like the PERFECT casting, even just reading the book she is who i pictured).

spoiler for the hanging scene as well but i thought there was absolutely nooo way snow would let it happen. but then again i also thought surely he wouldnt ever ACTUALLY record and send the audio off to the capitol, either. :/. and when he took advantage of the plinths and their money at the end???? ouchhhh.

and when sejanus cried out for his mom..... oh it basically killed me. i put my book down for a good 30 minutes and just processed it.

honestly tbosas might be my fave in the entire series (with catching fire being second). but arguably my favorite thing abt ballad is that we can see snows actual descent into evil, into the snow thats present in the main series.

the way it starts off with him as just a poor, scared kid trying to make his dead parents proud and him having to make sacrifices to get there, to the way he took such pride in his capitol and home without ever realizing it was the capitols fault he was poor and scared and without parents in the first place.

then the way it shifts to him realizing using people to get what he wants is the *only* way to get what he wants, and seeing him accept that, and seeing him use it to his advantage.... sickening.

maybe because its so realistic in the sense that i understand what his thought process was and it really shows that under correct circumstances, that type of thing could happen to anybody.

i actually meant the first hanging scene, the one the song is based on!! that connection was just, it overwhelmed me. but yes, i did not expect that for sejanus </3 snow taking advantage of his parents at the end really did sum up how far he had fallen. there was also a line about how he'd taken back the money he sent to tigris and the grandmama, which just summed it up for me. i'd honestly love just a whole book dedicated to tigris because her line about 'be kind coryo, try not to look down on people who had to choose between death and disgrace' hit really hard, and implied so much about her character. how did she go from his most beloved cousin, to helping the mockingjay? i would love that story.

I think the fact that Bash didn’t hang out with a single HS cast member post Pride was a bit of sign of where the cast stands on this. During Pride, especially Kit made sure to talk to both Joe and Bash, while others, like Tobie, stayed with Joe. I don’t think they hate Bash or would act unprofessionally towards him, but I’d say they are siding more with Joe. Which makes sense given the fact that they still have another season to film.

yeah exactly, and for me personally its not just about the fact that they’re still filming. It has always come off to me that joe has in depth friendships with people like kizzy and especially tobie, so i find it natural that they’ll go with joe. even will was being consoling at times, keeping close to him and kit and joes relationship definitely got closer over time, its so obvious how much more comfortable they are physically with each other :)

Emma title track from SN TV made me think of other possible things that were popular around that time 2000’s- Pride & Prejudice (2005) - KK was also in Love Actually. Emma name was a popular baby name because of Friends impact- wow those girls playing her are almost 20. Easy A (2010) w/ ES, PB & ST- she knows some cast member & it has nod to Say Anything (lol JC nod- like High Fidelity) & Scarlet Letter (classic book ref & New Romantics/Willow nod?). Tucci thought made me wonder which films of his HS enjoyed the most. Lol. Sometimes I wonder what the link is when they chose presenter of awards- because there usually is one.

I feel like When Emma Falls In Love probably has something to do with Jane Austin. Probably something like how she did Love Story.

Harry is a big fan of Stanley Tucci so that’s probably why he presented the award.

top five movies?

Thanks for the ask! I got this message right before I fell asleep last night so sorry for just now answering. In working through this list, it became pretty clear what I enjoy most about movies.

Knives Out (2019) Beautiful sets, fun script with biting social commentary, solid twisty mystery, excellent cast that's clearly having an absolute blast, and a great soundtrack? Yeah this is a winner. Really the only thing I would change is Marta's tell. I hated the vomit gag.

Pride and Prejudice (2005) Is the BBC 1995 miniseries more book accurate? Yes. But Joe Wright nails the aesthetic of the era even if he's not quite as "accurate." Gorgeous cinematography, another excellent ensemble cast, a script that distills the story to its best elements, and captivating music? You had me at hello.

The Lord of the Rings (2001-2003) I'm counting them as one and I'm referring to the extended editions. The ultimate medieval fantasy genre epic that needs no introduction. The books are great too, but idk for my enjoyment value you can't beat the movies. I really can't think of how to make them better. Yes, there's always additional lore to add and characters that get cut for time and clarity (sorry Tolkien, you know you ramble) but the choices that were made are excellent.

The Princess Bride (1987) I can't tell you how many times I watched this movie growing up because my mom loves it. This film didn't do great in theaters but exploded on VHS. I can practically quote the entire thing. Again, the snarky dialogue is 2/3 the fun. Another great cast. I love turning genre tropes on their head and having fun. More good music and a fun blend of good production choices mixed with intentionally campy elements. The comedy with a heart of gold that sneaks up on you.

Shrek 2 (2004) An oddball choice. Honestly I prefer this one to the original. Great animation for the era (honestly watch it again, it's almost 20 years old and it still looks good. RIP me noticing that it's that old), great original story, the jokes are sharp, the voice acting is fun, and every song is a banger. Seriously, the Holding Out For A Hero cover is unironically fantastic.

You come from my side blog, so you might be surprised by no Top Gun or Top Gun: Maverick. Honestly, TG:M is up there on the list and would make my top 10 because it's a fun watch. OG Top Gun is so very 80s and was my dad's favorite movie in the 90s so I saw it a lot. It gets points for soundtrack, cast, and cinematography but lacked in story and gets a heavy cringe ding imo. Honestly he might have watched Hot Shots just as much so sometimes I forget what was in TG and what was actually HS lol.

just finished htkgamf (is that the best way to abbreviate it, it looks like a keysmash lol) & i'm in LOVE with this book and every character in it (sam and mirai are just the sweetest omg). can't wait for the rest of the series to fuck me up the way bbac did :D i do have two very silly questions 👀 1. are there official ship names yet. danaviv? vividana? isaam? saisaac? emiline? chrismile? brynmark? markja? help. 2. if the cast of ylg were in a hs volleyball au, which positions would they play?

THAT SAID, emiline is the fucking cutest name.

isaac would be a very borderline lazy energy-conserving setter just because it's too fucking funny not to fall into that. he wouldn't trust anyone else to serve to him, anyway.

dana would be a manager and everyone would be like YOU ARE SO TALL WHY???? but she'd be too self-conscious and nervous to play since she'd be a newbie and everyone else is So Skilled (they're not). she'd be very good at organizational things, though. and pretty much soccer mom levels of enthusiasm and aggressive support during a match.

you thought tendou as the guess monster was bad, just imagine mark ito, clairvoyant extraordinaire, as a middle blocker who is set on ruining your life

natalie as a setter who you absolutely CANNOT READ. she has no tells. you won't know where she's setting until the ball's halfway to its target. the other players on her team won't know, either, but it somehow works out.

viv is........ very short. and not fast or has jump height like hinata, so i don't see her as playing any position well, but by god she would TRY and she'd be super aggressive about trash-talking the other team, though. probably a benchwarmer. i don't know what kind of role she'd play, i guess a wing spiker but she'd be very focused on receiving and defense. i'm not sure she could clear the net with her jump at all.

megan is also very short but probably has jump height out of pure spite or something. they'd make a good decoy bc of how talkative and cute they are, so they're very distracting when they want to be. psychological torture time.

hammond is the best wing spiker out there but too humble to take the ace title. (actual reason: does NOT want the extra pressure.) he's tall and moves his body very well so he'd be a GREAT and very dependable point-getter. probably also blows kisses and winks and gives pet names to the other team.

rory (alive mode) would also be a mean middle blocker, because he's decently tall and has aggressive tendencies. also blows kisses and winks and gives (mean) pet names to the other team.

christine (alive mode) is the shortest member of the cast so she's. just there. she's like a mascot or something and is glad that she's out of the spotlight and doesn't have the pressure of being a main player.

emil is probably one of those jack of all trades, master of none type players! he's gangly-tall but a little awkward with his limbs, but quick enough that he could fill most roles decently.

thomas is the ace, of course, because he's good at everything!! it's his role in life. i'm sure he's very happy and stable with it.

codi is also an ace and somehow even scarier/her reputation is more intimidating than thomas is, despite having a lower overall average points per match/lower win ratio.

mirai is a decoy through sheer virtue of still not 100% knowing how to play and thus bringing utter chaos onto the court.

sam is just there to have fun and support his friends :)
