maybe an unpopular opinion(?) since i dont see a lot of people talk about it but im actually very glad htf stuck to their gore gimmick the entire show even if it got arguably repetitive later. its an adult animated cartoon and like. they had so many opportunities to start including sex jokes and swearing and (direct references to) drugs and generally crude constants present in other adult media AND it probably would've integrated fine anyway since its internet recognition at the time was "cutesy cartoon actually very violent" and tacking those on wouldnt have budged that definition very much. but they didnt and i am very happy about that. not saying i dislike any of those things in adult media but it wouldve been weird if they did it. its one of those things thats better when mostly fanon rather than canonly depicted. let ME draw porn of them and fanfics about them doing heroin instead

Can I just say I fucking love your interpretations of HTF characters, especially Petunia & Flaky. Those two were always my faves since childhood & you found a way to make them 10x more relatable to me

HEHE TY!! ive talked before about how petunia genuinely means a lot to me as a person with ocd, since shes the only (that i know of! i do not claim to be all-knowing) cartoon character with ocd that is written in a way to not be "they are neurotic and uncomfortable with germs" - its shown as a VERY BIG PROBLEM that is comparable to cuddles getting buried alive and lifty contracting 50 diseases via needles, and ended in her SUICIDE. cartoons (even most live action) NEVER take ocd that seriously and even though there were obviously jokes made it was never to trivialise it, just to show how much she struggles in her day to day life. and despite that, she still manages to be HAPPY. sure she has her bad days but she is making life her BITCH

and flaky, while not a character i talk about much is still one of my faves. i know the fandom is........ extremely saturated with flaky content which is why i kinda leave them alone unless i have a clear idea for them (especially since my flaky is Very Different from standard fanon flaky (i actually watch the show ysee)) but i still love them DEARLY. i love having a character with really bad anxiety who isnt helpless, they can and WILL kill you to save their own skin, theyre not some quivering shy little girl (no matter what the fandom will have you believe) theyre just Freaked Out. samesies!

The realization I came to today

I witnessed the Overwatch fandom drama of the fic “Hang the Fool” in 2016

Only again to see the same thing but in the CoD fandom with “Pattern Breaker” 2022

Why is this such a major case of deja vu for me? Here’s why.

Both fics are on top of their respective fic list on AO3

Both have the most popular ship of that fandom as it’s focus.

Both fics had massive amounts of art from reader base.

Both also generated a certain amount of controversy from said fandom for specific issues/ reasons. Incorrect character portrayal aka being ooc, fanon vs canon interactions, etc.

I have read both I will not comment on either for my own sake. (Also HtF was ages ago and I barely remember anything.) Simply interesting how I’m living through this again, what is this timeline.🫠

quick rambles. i think sonic going into the htf world would obviously be caused by eggman probably sonic X style. except they do fall in a world with animal only people and also specifically in a town where people die gruesomely would be. a lot LOL i think characters that would get along with each other would be obvious but. tails and toothy and sniffles. giggles and amy. rouge and shifty or lifty. sonic and splendid. itd be funny but flaky and knuckles they arent even similar but like theyre both red AND have quills i think. double i think but flaky is friends with people that are very different from them so in my mind knuckles could become a friend. cream cheese and lammy mr pickles. also i already said sonic and splendid but sonic could become friends with cuddles... like cuddles is KIND of sporty so. and flaky obviously counts theyre into soccer or like baseballlllluuguughgbfndml..  mole would HATE rouge like he in fanon hates shifty and lifty. she steals shit and he gets annoyed. also rouge is a spy so maybe thered be a bit of rivalry. also maybe sniffles would be really interested in how omega works and then is exposed to Eggman teck and it being fukcing weird. do i even ramble more im running out

Splendid with a reader that crushes hard for his civilian identity but turns down any affection from his hero identity because they just really like "this other guy"

-you’re one of his coworkers at the paper company. as far as you know, he’s just a geeky news reporter who tells jokes around the water cooler that you laugh just a little too hard at, who gets blushy and nervous when he catches you staring, and who you’re just generally head over heels for.

-he notices, of course. you’re not subtle. but his reactions don’t show it, so you figure he must not notice, or maybe he’s not even into you.

-he’s into you, though. he’s definitely into you. but he’d rather be in a relationship as the real splendid, not hiding behind a pair of chunky glasses and a work outfit.

-now, this is happy tree town. shit goes wrong. a lot. the next time you get caught up in an accident that would have probably killed you for the day, a flash of blue swoops in and saves you (probably wreaking havoc along the way and racking up a few fatalities; you’re the number one priority here, everyone else be damned). when your mysterious savior sets you down somewhere safe and you get a good look at his oddly familiar smile, he... flirts with you?? that seems very against superhero etiquette, doesnt it? (not that you know superhero etiquette.)

-“i, uh, already like someone, actually,” you tell him. disappointment crosses his features for a moment, but with an almost sly look on his face he asks, “who are they?” and against your better judgement, you find yourself gushing about your super cute coworker he’s a blue flying squirrel who wears these dorky glasses and the cutest little suit and tie and he has such a sweet smile and you could listen to his voice all day and- oh, crap, sorry for rambling! you’re... embarrassed, to say the least.

-but you look at splendid and he seems like he’s trying to hold down a humongous smile. “what’s so funny?” you ask. “nothing,” he replies curtly. “nothing at all. ...good luck. he sounds like a real catch.” and with that he vanishes just as quickly as he appeared.

-it’s upsetting and frustrating, yes, that he considers the hero identity to be the real splendid and the one you like to be an alter ego, but to listen to someone gush about you right to your face like that...

-the next day at work, a certain someone seems a little more receptive to your flirting than usual.
