It has my heart it is everything. It’s my favorite. <3 11/10

Book 7: How To Ride A Dragon’s Storm: The “Space Apocalypse”

It was something else entirely. There was an axe struck by lightning. 11/10

Book 3: How To Speak Dragonese: The “Action Movie”

This one was so random but sooo entertaining!!! Romans, nano-dragons, Camicazi???? I’m here for it! 8/10

Book 8: How To Break A Dragon’s Heart: The “Horror Movie”

It was also something else, but in an entirely different way. It was funny, it was weird, it was hilarious, it was gruesome. Would not read again but 9/10.

Book 9: How To Steal A Dragon’s Sword: The “DnD Hero’s Quest”

what even in the. that was a very good book and crucial to the series. The cave below the well reminded me a lot of the ice cave in RttE where Hiccup finds the Bewilderbeast’s egg. I disliked the castle though. 8/10.

Book 2: How To Be A Pirate: The “Treasure Hunt”

Nice! Introduction to Alvin and Grimbeard, a treasure hunt, an octopus. 7/10.

Book 10: How To Seize A Dragon’s Jewel: The “Young Adult Revolution”

I can’t remember most of the book except Eggingarde and the Slavemark revolt. That was some good stuff. Oh wait, and the crystal cave in the red sands??? Waaaiiiiiiiiit........ no that was actually GOOD STUFF!! 6/10

Book 6: A Hero’s Guide To Deadly Dragons: The “Library Themed Book Because Every Passionate Author Has One”

because it was fun and harmless :)))) 6/10.

Book 11: How To Betray A Dragon’s Hero: The “Big Drama I”

meh....it’s the lead-up to the epic conclusion, I guess...? 5/10.

Book 12: How To Fight A Dragon’s Fury: The “Final Drama II”

mehh.....wasn’t worth it. Look, for 12 books and such a complex, hopeless situation, I expected more from the finale. I believe humans and animals are better than this in real life. 4/10.

Book 1: How To Train Your Dragon: The “Novel”

It sure was a novel, huh. 3 points for the dragon-selecting scene, for Hiccup talking to the Green Death, and for inspiring the movies. 3/10

Book 5: How To Twist A Dragon’s Tale: The “Musical Episode”

Yeah no. I didn’t like that one. It seemed pointless. Too much singing, and Humongously Hotshot the Hero was veeery annoying. Also everything about Alvin and the Exterminator Dragons was just disgusting. 1/10

It’s interesting how I seemed to like the middle books better than the start and end!!! O_O I guess I’m more into adventure than into angst. :)

This is both so sad and so cool. The story of every hiccup being best friends with dragons: the first ending the war, the second raised by dragons and tried to liberate them, the third needing to send them away. 

The green death was the one that tried to kill hiccup the first? Whoaaahhh. And I'm glad that Hiccup the first treated the dragons good and the promise was kept until he died, he wasn't evil. None of the hiccups were mean! That's very interesting! And makes this feel a lot better.

Hey Httyd Books fandom,

um I haven't forgotten about Book 11 and 12 that I still wanted to review and extensively talk with you about, but I gotta be honest with you...: I don't remember or relate to any of the quotes that were used in both books, and I know that they are famous for being amazing. And you guys probably wanted to talk about exactly that.

The thing is... a younger Me would have eaten those up. But I admit that I have stopped living by deep quotes, as too often they are idealistic and not realistic, thus leading to disappointment when dealing with real life. In a way, I have been disillusioned by life over the last couple years and great sayings just don't stick anymore. I'm just trying to make it through today and that's enough. I don't plan for great and future things anymore, as awesome quotes tend to inspire someone for.

And yet, the ending of the 12th book, as realistic and cautious as it is, is not hopeful enough for me lol. It's a paradox, I know. I just believe that there is one more ace people can pull out of their sleeves when trying to make peace with one another, and that is baring their hearts in front of God because they know they cannot do it on their own. It's God that changes mankind's hearts, not our own efforts. But the Httyd books - although Hiccup was confirmed as King by some mystical power or fate - keep relying on the character of special people til the end. And as I've just found in real life that even character is oftentimes not sufficient, the Httyd books have interestingly come to the same conclusion. Both Hiccup and Furious know that their peace treaty is a temporary joke in the passage of time, based on Hiccup's good intent. But Cressida offers no solution beyond that, and that's what makes this hard-won victory fall short of satisfaction.

Anywho, just my thoughts. This is why I have hesitated to review the last two books for you.
