cultural change is nice sometimes, actually. at my college, and many places, I notice, the men don't hold the doors for the women anymore. instead whoever is in front just holds it for whoever is right behind them. we don't hold the door because of gender roles, we just do it because we're all people and it's nice to have the door held for you. sometimes I like earth. sometimes I have hope we can treat each other well in other ways, too.

I would like to send a thank you to Lucille from Saskatoon, Saskatchawan, who noticed that I was having a panic attack after being denied boarding to my flight that I had sprinted across the entire Toronto airport to try and catch, and sat me down, got her husband to get me a bottle of water, helped me calm down, then walked me to customer service, and listened to make sure I wasn't getting stiffed on any benefits, then walked me to the exit of the terminal.
Thank you thank you thank you. It was a series of fairly small actions, but at the time it felt like you were an angel in disguise.

(ID: an old woman evacuated out of an active warzone in Gaza by 3 IDF soldiers. She's barefoot and one of the soldiers is pushing her wheelchair on unacceptable ground. Another wears medical gloves, which I think means he's the unit's medic. He also holds a bag in his hand that probably belongs to the old woman, as it is carried by hand and not on the shoulders)
Y, one of my friends' partner, sent her this message:
Yesterday we found an old lady in the middle of the warzone. Completely helpless, she was left to die. She told us she haven't seen anyone for 7 days, didn't eat or drink. We just evacuated her to the Red Cross.
This is our answer for this dammed war, the war over our humanity. Some soldiers said it would be wrong to put soldiers in danger for this whole Grandma-Op. Our Colonel* decided that keeping humanity** is more important.
*Og used the term MHT - commander of a brigade.
**og term - "Tzelem Enosh", lit. human figure.

there's something so special about used records.
my yellow submarine vinyl, its inter sleeve is awash in a child's scribbly drawings. this music was played for a child, & now i play it for my little sister while that kid is grown up somewhere. my monkees 45s i bought as a set, they've all got writing on their centers wishing Sammy a happy birthday. every time i play them i get to imagine Sammy felt the same as i do about the music. i have a springsteen record with a lyric sheet. the previous owner highlighted their favorite lyrics & drew little hearts next to them, & a lot of them are my favorites too. a local used record seller in my area prints out sheets of recommended music which he puts into every. single. record jacket.
it's just like...music is shared amongst all of humanity. music itself is so timeless & kind to us, & so are people to one another, ultimately. & maybe we'll be okay :)

okay tumblr let me take you into this staggeringly bizarre thing my life is right now as I am blessed with a scenario on my hands I will call “The Mysterious Stick note person!”
Okay so first things first I live in a collage dorm but we all have our own tiny apartments here right? And because I am kind of a pagan and also very queer  I decorated my door/name plate with
A sigil of protection
 A pride flag
And all is well and dandy, most people in the dorms keep to themself (especially since the pandemic) till one day...there is a stick note on my door...asking me about the symbol on my door (the sigil) with like a small space left for me to write an answer...and because there is no harm in that I do and its actually quite fun exchanging like two or three notes over the better part of a week where I explain it and we make a few jokes
I still have NO IDEA who this person is, but it dosnt seem to matter because the conversation comes to an end after a while
Cut to the day before june (aka pride month) because some dick ???? STOLE MY PRIDE FLAG, and I pretty much know its because of pride month and also because the thieve is an asshole
but luckily, I have another, much bigger flag I used as a room divider before but because Im petty I hang it on my door now right, and Im kind of expecting it to get defaced or stolen or something already
but instead !!! I get a stick note, on the same green paper as the last ones! COMPLIMENTING MY FLAG and asking if its for pride month, I fucking high of excitement right now so I gladly write back explain what happened and joke a bit about it, because it feels good to have someone on my side even if I dont know who they are.
And they get really defensive like “How dare they steal the Flag?!?!” I laugh it of at this point like the big flag has remained untouched and I will likely never find out who took it anyways, so I tell them to not let those guys get them down and wish them a happy pride
And I thought that was it, as there have been no more notes for two days, Expect!!! Today there was the slightest ring on my bell but when I got there no one was there...but there was a note...asking me to check my mail
YOU GUYS MYSTERY STICKY NOTE PERSON SEND ME A NEW RAINBOWFLAG!!! I dont know who they are and most importantly they dont know me besides a few sticky notes and that my flag was stolen and they decided they wanted to help out.
Thats an amazingly kind person who really touched me alright, this is just pure unsolicited kindness and I have basically no way of thanking them expect stick notes because...I dont even know what they look like, there are like 600 people living in this building
But I hope they know how great they are, because they really restored my faith in people today
Happy Pride
