god i don't even know... basically anything might get me if it satisfies like two point five requirements:

they actually like each other (incredibly low bar, and yet!)

they both have real personalities (INCREDIBLY LOW BAR.......... AND YET!)

BONUS: one or both of them goes off the shits to protect and care for the other

which i guess is to say it's about the best friends to lovers of it all. the bone-deep familiarity with each other. laughing over stupid jokes and being completely at ease in each other's spaces. little things that remind them of each other. shenanigans. but also DEEP deep devotion. this is all not really tropes but augh i don't know i like forgot every single trope on the planet the moment i saw this ask

Movie night

Captain Xenberin's 5th log:

Since captain Sted has allowed my ship and crew to join their fleet a few months ago, we've been invited to movie night. I've been putting off going until last night. The movie was a children's movie about self love and acceptance with good morals and subverted pre held Ideas of stereotypes. A question that I have is, 'how did the main character flush without plumbing in the first scene?'

This Shrek character, the main character of the movie, was one of my favorite characters, I have to admit. The soundtrack was lighthearted and jovial with most of both crews laughing and joking around. A phrase that was tossed around was, "Shrek is love, Shrek is Life."

The humans kept muttering this phrase to themselves and one another thorough the whole movie. This I learned later was a shared joke for most humans born before the pre-2015 era of the Human internet that survived the Earth's flooding.

Humans that joined made jokes after the movie's ending. I asked Captain Sted about the jokes and got a "You don't want to know".

Has anyone ever wondered what happened to Dragon after Donkey drank the happily ever after potion, I mean Shrek and Fiona became humans and Donkey turned into a stallion, but we didn't get to see what happened to her. Doesn't the potion affect them and their true love? This has been stuck in my brain since i was a kid.

Idk why but I just absolutely love Human!Shrek??? Like his design is just so good? He looks like a stereotypical handsome fairytale prince, but you can still tell it's him by his movements + facial expressions (And he still acts like his old self, straight-up mugging people)

Not to mention his role in the story: my man is literally willing to give up who he is just to make his wife happy and it mAKES ME SO

a dumb little headcanon:

He was REALLY weirded out by the fact he now had hair, and touched it/ran his fingers though it quite a bit after first transforming.

YOU GET ITTTT

They got his proportions SO RIGHT when they did his transformation, so it didn’t feel off or like they made him into a completely different person, which feels amazing. In my art book that talks about it, there’s a quote that says: “The magic did change his form dramatically, but look in those eyes and you can still see Shrek,” WHICH IS SO 😭

Also, the way he didn’t even have a second thought, either, about doing it for Fiona. He was like ‘I love her and if this is what I have to do to prove it I’ll do it.’ AND HE DID IT. He completely altered everything about himself/the way he knew how to live just for her and to keep her in his life.

ALSO, YOUR HAIR HC, YES. Going from being bald to a full head of hair had to be nuts, so I could see him tugging at it/running his hands through it a bunch. Especially when he rolls up to the castle about to see Fiona for the first time cause he wants to really show he’s made changes for her for the better. 🥺

i enjoy blank slate MCs in romance games cause it leaves room open for self-inserts and OCs and allows fans to be creative and fill in gaps! but outside of that it makes me go damn most of these characters only started liking MC cause of what they do for them huh :p
