Chalo khwaab mein milte hain, Aur isi khwaab mein ek naya khwaab bunte hain, Khwaab mein titliyaan hain Jugnu chaand aur taare hain, Khwaab mein tum mere ho, Aur ye sab tumhare hain, Khwaab mein hum bheegte hain jaise koi baarish ho, Khwaab ek dhundhli vaadi hai jaise baadlo ki saazish ho, Khwaab mein sab khwaab sa hai, Har ek chehra janaab sa hai, Khwaab jaise koi phoolnagar hai, Kuch motiyaan thoda gulab sa hai, To chalo Na uss khwaab mein chalte hain.

Noorpur Ki Rani!
I just saw that HumTV is uploading Noorpur Ki Rani in HD on their youtube channel. I'd most definitely recommend to check the show out. It was my first Haissam Hussain show and I have to admit the me in 2009 was completely enamored by the show. i don't know if it has aged well or not but I can say for sure that visually (and even narratively) the show is so much bolder than the content that gets made in 2023. It's not the most original story whatsoever (Noorie's story is heavily inspired by Anne of Green Gables) but it's a very fun, enjoyable watch especially the Salar-Rania-Anna angle. watch it without spoiling the story for you if you do plan on watching it, that makes it so much more fun!

youtube recently put "zindagi gulzar hai" back on my feed (or the humtv channel is re-uploading the videos and i'm subscribed to that channel). so i started watching here and there because i both read and watched the drama when it first came out and i remember quite enjoying it.
i'm not sure what's changed now, maybe this time around i'm only just noticing it outside of my romanticized view the first time around or what, but damn this drama seems so problematic to me now. or maybe i felt it back then too but let the overall love story take over.
whatever the case was back then, i'm just having a really hard time understanding how this drama was made. it...is not okay. a lot of these issues they've highlighted are kind of really triggering me.
i don't want to really dwell on this moment right now or the exact scenes i'm finding problematic. those will inevitably become loooong tangents and recently i'm finding none of my battles worth fighting or even speaking out loud.
it seems i'm at this point in my life (whether temporary or permanent, this is still tbd) where i'm finding a lot of comfort in complacency. a quiet kind of....i won't say defeat. when i'm choosing to stay quiet now, it's not because i've accepted defeat that my POV is inferior or incorrect. it's actually quite the opposite.
it's a quiet win. i will quietly let your opinion and your judgement live. because it doesn't bother me TRULY anymore what you feel or think of me.
i don't think i've ever said that statement more honestly than in this moment. i think it's a direct result of the quiet confidence that has been seeping into my life since turning 30/31. i'm complacent...i am what i am, i think what i do, i feel what i do. if something tugs at my brain, i'm usually able to quiet it down because my own voice is stronger and has been becoming stronger for some time now.
truly i'm starting to realize the power in accepting your own life and reality without putting importance on outside pressures.
i'll be clear here - i still value advice and outside input whether solicited by me or otherwise. when it comes from certain sources or when it resonates with me or makes me think. but i am so much more able to do the whole in one ear, out the other bit now.
confidence, knowing your worth, maybe accepting your worth and proving to yourself and yourself only that you're right in the decisions you make and you're right in the things you're doing....these things are so new and so welcome for me.
i'm still insecure about a lot. but i'm slowly finding that my insecurity can be combatted only by me. so i'm working on it.
and i am also finding that in some places where it might look like i'm insecure, i'm actually not. merely, i am accepting a reality or a truth about myself or my life.
IN ANY CASE.
there, i did it. went on a useless tangent. lol but i do so enjoy reading my own posts later on in life, so here's to putting something out there that someday i can come back and have a nice chuckle about.
much love,
-k

When Parizaad said, "darasal humaray ird gird logon mein hamari ghair-dilchaspi humein tanha kardeti hai" I felt that deep inside my heart.

I'm on episode 7 of Parizaad and my guy is terracotta!
Please I really like this drama but why could they not have spray tanned him? He's so endearing but I do find myself thinking about the foundation often...

did you read the aangan novel? i'm reading it before the drama starts to re-air since it'll be my first time actually watching the latter (the woes of living in the states..) and i'm really curious whether the ost is simply really misleading or if there are elements of the book they changed in the adaptation. for some reason i can't match what i'm reading of aliya and jameel's dynamic in the book - oppressive, miserable, and almost caged from aliya's perspective - to what i'm seeing in the ost and teasers - more tragic and painted over in mutual yearning. not to say aliya wasn't completely without care for jameel but in the book she seems way more in control of subduing even the smallest iota of affection she may have for him because her ideals and fears about love and marriage were so omnipresent in her mind. obv if you haven't read it you can feel free to ignore this lol
pls, i live in Pakistan and even *I* never watched Aangan. Humtv fucked up SO bad with that show.
if i am not wrong then the novel is completely Aliya's POV right? but the drama doesn't have a single narrator and all characters are allowed to be full characters on their own rather than have someone's interpretation define them. i don't remember the drama get like glowing reviews. ek toh it aired during PEAK Sahad time and the social media didn't give a shit about anyone other than SaHad (poor Mawra got the worst deal with the show like hers was the central character but treated by the audience as a jokey afterthought). i am curious to see how the show will be received NOW that the Sahad bhoot has been utaarofied from the staunch fangirls' minds.
a friend told me some bits from the novel have been shown as is in the drama while some are mercifully altered for the screen (the friend was a sahad fan and she only cared for Jameel Chammi and apparently the two had a very hormonal flirtationship going on in the middle of the night laced with innuendos). i don't know how well the Jameel Aliya relationship was translated onscreen because 1) didn't watch the show and 2) i doubt any of the reviews for their relationship/chemistry were coming from an unbiased audience.
i suppose it would've always been difficult to adapt a novel like Aangan for screen but that doesn't mean a shoddy job was done of it. tbh when it comes to novel adaptations in PakDramas, it's better to keep the source separate from the screen adaptation and treat them as two different things.
