For everyone who saw this post about the hurricane hitting California as a tropical storm this weekend, we got a room until Sunday morning. I still need to raise about $140 for one more night and some food. But we're going to be somewhere safe!

Hi y’all. Just letting you know there won’t be any updates for a while. I live in Puerto Rico and we got hit with a hurricane that left the whole island without water and power. Thankfully I live in an area that was mostly unfazed, but many in the island have lost their lives, their homes, and much more.
I urge everyone to read up on what’s happening in the Caribbean as hurricane Fiona rolls around. It’s a devastating loss.
I’ll leave a link of a Twitter thread if you feel inclined to donate anything to PR organizations that help those in need especially in times like this. Never, ever give to a gubernamental organization since time and time again they shown how corruptly they handle those funds. You do not have to feel obligated in any way to donate, but a simple share can help so many people.
Again, I urge y’all to read up on what’s happening and to share with others. This is the reality Puerto Rico faces as a colony of the United Stated of America. It’s been five years since the passing of one of the most devastating hurricanes, and a Cat 1 hurricane was able to destroy all the “repairs” that had been done in the island. The PuertoRican people are crying for help.
If you wanna stay up to date with what’s happening, reporter David Begnaud has been reporting on everything since it’s happened. He was a huge vocal person when Maria hit and he has been an advocate for Puerto Rico for years on end. He is currently in the island reporting on the state of it.

hi guys😭 my family and i have been really struggling financially recently and hurricane ian only made it worse. we didn’t get hit too badly yesterday but it’s projected we’ll get more storms later today and tomorrow possibly. the problem is that we’re unable to stay in our house since our yard is full of very unstable trees that could come down at any moment…. So we’ve been staying with family. point is tho we haven’t been able to hurricane prep at ALL bc we can’t afford it. we haven’t got any food to eat for a household comprised of 5 adults, 3 dogs, and 1 cat either
basically im just putting this out here in case anyone can & wants to help with necessities (specifically food) lol

in the wake of the hurricane scheduled to hit Florida, i will most likely have to ecvacuate or be in a bind afterwards. i started a new job very recently after a broke depressive episode (i have adhd, paranoia, anxiety and imposter syndrome) and have no money, and my boyfriend has been supporting us. the new job was also in an area that's already been evacuated so i don't know when they are re-opening. I wanted to drop some links in case anyone is willing to help a girl out. i know i have like two followers but whatever paypal kofi
money will be used for hotels.
last year during ian we got lucky because of the path it was directed towards, but this year it doesn't look so good. if it reaches CAT 3, we are screwed.
i hope anyone in FL is staying safe and continues to do so

Secular Pro-Life president Kelsey Hazzard here. As a resident of southwest Florida, I want to thank everyone on Twitter who sent encouraging messages during last week’s hurricane. I was very fortunate. My loved ones and I are all safe, and my house did not suffer any damage. Electricity in my neighborhood has been restored, the kids are back in school, and life is getting back to normal.
Not everyone has been so lucky. We have all seen the images of devastation on the news, and unfortunately, non-profit women’s clinics are no exception.
My local pregnancy resource center, Community Pregnancy Clinic, reports that it sustained $30,000 worth of damage to its Naples location. Community Pregnancy Clinic is a faith-based organization that serves pregnant mothers of all backgrounds. You can help those families by purchasing maternity and baby items from the clinic’s online gift registry. And in hard-hit Fort Myers, Hurricane Ian forced Verity Pregnancy and Medical Resource Center to postpone its annual fundraising dinner — just when the community it serves faces the greatest need.
I encourage you to donate if you are able. You can also give to United Way of Lee, Hendry and Glades County or United Way of Collier and the Keys, neither of which fund Planned Parenthood or other abortion groups. Thank you for your generous support.

While we’re of course saddened to see these beautiful cars destroyed, it’s imperative we don’t forget the real victims of Hurricane Ian. We were spared the worst of it, but our neighbors to the south of us weren’t so lucky. There are thousands of people devastated by this storm in Florida. Please help get the word out that you can donate here.
In addition to monetary donations, please consider donating:
Canned food
Bottled water
Generators and power banks
Pet food
Blankets and clothing

Donation links to help Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Fiona
I know I said this blog is dead, but it is still my blog with the most reach, so I'm gonna use it for good
For those of you who do not know, Hurricane Fiona has been devastating to Puerto Rico. People are left without homes, running water, or electricity. It's a desperate situation out there right now. You can find more detailed accounts Here (NPR), Here (NY Times), and Here (NBC).
My friend in Puerto Rico- who told me how bad things are down there and is the reason I am making this post- stressed the importance that, when donating, not to give charity to the government. The people in need will never see that money. With that in mind, here are some links to nonprofit organizations to help. A little goes a long way. My personal first choice is The Maria Fund - They work with grassroots organizations in Puerto Rico to collect donations and redistribute the funds to the exact organizations that need them. You can see the list of places/groups they help on this page of their website.
If you would rather have direct control over where your money goes, other reputable options include Casa Pueblo, Taller Sauld, and Techos Pa' Mi Gente. Anything helps, and if you cannot donate money, boosting so that those who have funds see this is also helpful. Thank you

It's late enough at night that I think I can post videos and pics to show everyone what happened to us through the hurricane.
Tumblr media
This was storm surge about to enter my house after Hurricane Ian hit. Each of us quickly packed our necessities, our memories, anything important to us into a bag and pushed through rising water into our cars to evacuate to higher ground. Keep in mind the wind is still going over 100mph when we went outside. We thought our house was going to flood. We were either going to die in the house or die in our cars outside. We managed to evacuate safely to a friend's house and slept there for the night. On Thursday morning we drove back to our house to make sure it was okay.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It flooded our garage but did not go inside our house by some miracle. The water must've stopped rising soon after we left. When we left it was already touching the front door so I thought for sure it would've flooded inside. You can see from the box, that it was about a foot or more of water creeping up to our house. Our house survived another hurricane. We just had to clean up the yard and survive however long it would take for utilities to turn back on.
The trauma and fear from this is unreal. I've lived in this house literally my entire life. We've never moved once. And I thought I was about to have lost everything I've ever known. I thought we were going to be homeless. I actually thought we were all going to die. I called my fiancé and literally gave him my final words. I told him how much I love him and that this may be the last time we talk ever again. I made a goodbye video so he could see me one last time. If anything happened to us or our cars while we were outside, I believed we would die. It is only by sheer luck did we survive and make it through this the way we did.
What I worry about now is that it's been a week since the hurricane hit but we still don't have power. One of my jobs doesn't have power. We struggled to get gas until recently. None of us can work and have income to pay our bills. And those bills are coming up at the end of the month. I work 2 jobs to help pay for things and only one of them has power. The one that is the furthest away, costing me more gas and more money.
At the end of this month I plan to visit my fiance. This was a pre-planned trip months in advance and already paid for. I'm not giving up this opportunity to see him and us hold each other and cry from almost losing each other forever. But while I'm gone, I worry about my family being able to take care of themselves. They still may not be back to work by the time I leave just because of how long it's taken to repair everything. I'm going to be leaving funds for them here while I'm away but I worry it's not enough. So I created a paypal link in case anyone wants to donate to help my family out.
If you want to know more about my family, my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in January 2021. This January makes 2 years since his diagnosis and it's scary for us all. We still have to continue paying for his treatment and lab work. He's been so stressed through this I'm worried it's going to affect his health. Because of his lung cancer, he's not able to work anymore and has retired. If he pushes himself too hard, he'll get really weak and wheeze. He struggles to catch his breath and almost collapses. He's already done this to himself a couple of times this week due to the stress and heat.
My mom and brother both work from home, but that requires an internet connection. We can get power back but still not have internet, so they still won't be able to work.
I have a 14 year old chihuahua named Taz who I love with all my heart. He's been stressed out since we evacuated suddenly on Thursday. He sleeps in front of a fan for half of the day cause the heat is too much for him in his age. We do our best to make him comfortable. Here he is sleeping in front of the fan:
Tumblr media
My brother's wife also lives with us so that makes 5 people in one house plus a small dog. Our food bill was like $250-$300 a week just on dinner meals and some snacks. We've tried our best to trim it down as much as possible but $200-$300 seems to be the range. We've stored some food in preparation for the hurricane, so we do have some stock for now, but we will have to buy more food at some point and that will cost money we don't really have right now. At the end of this month our bills are due. Literally 2-3 weeks from now. And no one other than me would have been working during that time. And I do not make even close to enough to pay for all of our bills. And since I will be gone, there's next month to worry about as well.
I don't know how long it will take the city to recover from this. I don't know how long it will take for my family to recover. But we are all heavily traumatized and stressed out. That's why any and all help is greatly appreciated. I have friends around me who can give me a place to shower or wash my clothes, but I wouldn't dare ask them for money during this. They are hurting too.
I created this paypal.me link a few days ago. If all you can send is $1, that's fine. I appreciate it nonetheless. I know things are tough on everyone.
If you have the ability to donate and wish to, my link is:
Paypal.me/fireyturtle
If this doesn't work for you, let me know and I will figure something out. Thank you if you've read this far. Please be safe and well.

I’ve never had to make a post like this.. I never thought I would ever have to.
My name is Brooklyn. I’m 24, non-binary, and have two partners, Colten and Olly.
Hurricane Ian hit our home in Fort Myers, Florida last week on Tuesday. We managed to escape with our 3 cats and are safe now. However, our home was flooded really bad. Almost all of our belongings have been destroyed, as well as both cars. We’ve been trying to go back every other day to try and scavenge clothes or anything else we can, but collectively there has been at least $18,000 worth of damages. Including all of our electronics aside from our phones, iPads, and my laptop. Almost all of my art and sentimental stuff is gone as well as all of our furniture.
My friends made a gofundme to help me out with getting back on my feet and replacing my lost items. Anything will help, even if it’s just $5 or $10. We spent 6 years building our home into our safe haven and it was all gone in the blink of an eye. The past week has been like a horror movie and we’re just traumatized and devastated.
You can check out the gofundme link through my recent post on Instagram @ baebiebrooklynxo
I’m also accepting donations via cashapp & venmo!!!!
Cashapp: bbdollll
Venmo: brookiexoxo
If you can’t donate, just a quick reblog could help me as well 😭😭
