We must stop interpreting Tuvok's rejection of spice as indicative of Vulcans as a whole and focus in on it as an individual failing that falls on his shoulders alone...

Humans are Vulcan catnip, I swear to Q.
Spock and Kirk: No need to explain. In any universe they are drawn together and Spock abandons any sense of rationality if his Captain is hurt or just looks at him sweetly.
Sarek and Amanda: Admitted he married Amanda for love, not logic. Then made Spock.
Solkar and Zefram: Ten seconds off the spaceship and Solkar decides to do the diplomatic thing and make out with this human.
Surak and Archer: Archer was given Surak's katra without his knowledge and when T'Pau attempted to extract him Surak clung to the mental doorframe because he was safer here and he liked it better here, despite the logic of being housed in a nice logical Vulcan mind instead.
Solok and Sisko: Solok abandoned all pretense of logic when he won a wrestling match with a young Sisko and became so obsessed with him that he taught an entire Vulcan Starfleet crew how to play baseball just so he could beat Sisko again.
T'Pol and Trip: T'Pol became so attached to the Enterprise crew that she gave up her military career with Vulcan to continue to serve as First Officer, and to keep close with her boyfriend.
Tuvok and Janeway: Tuvok is fiercely loyal to Janeway, to the point that he will go along with her illogical plans just because he has such great faith in her.
Soval and Forrest: Soval respected Forrest but when Forrest died saving Soval it uprooted what loyalty he had left to the Vulcan High Command (who he then realised was corrupt) and he went rogue trying to save Vulcan from itself. (Really watch for the nose flare when he talks to Archer next to Forrest's casket, that Vulcan is pissed.)

'fury' is easily the most fucked voyager episode like sorry. sorry,
you're trying to tell me kes. sweet, selfless kes, who was best friends with tom and tuvok and the doctor and who adored janeway and who was adored in return by janeway, kes who forgave neelix anything because she was just that kind - kes - returned after VOLUNTARILY leaving voyager (AGAINST janeway's wishes mind you!!!!!!!!) solely to send the entire crew to organ harvesters????? as revenge?????
putting aside the fact that she would never ever in one million years hurt these people - wouldn't she be better served times a thousand by going back further in time and TELLING young kes to stay on ocampa? what sort of bloodthirst requires anyone to sacrifice a ship full of their friends in order to rectify a mistake YOU made?????
and then they had janeway kill her. they made janeway, who cradled kes's face and who cried when she left KILL HER.
oh and janeway and tuvok have been hiding the secret that kes is going to go psycho in a few years from the rest of the crew, even from chakotay. and you're telling me they knew all about seven and the borg kids and naomi since s1 but secretly.
perish.

Again, cool response to the last question, so I'll let you pick from these options:
And there are things I have fan-fixed in my head to the point that I have to remind myself that the fix-it isn’t part of the actual canon: favourite one of these?
Or
Your/a favourite part of actual canon. Like, maybe something little but it's just so lovely and fitting to you and you're just happy that it exists?
I’ve been a little down on Trek lately, so I’m going to type as fast as I can to brain-dump, in show order, the first things that pop into my mind that I absolutely love in Trek canon:
Kirk calling Nomad his son, the doctor
Christine Chapel’s snark to Roger Korby about schtupping the androids
Mark Leonard’s performance in Balance of Terror
the Horta (a great mama)
“Edith Keeler must die.”
Captain John Christopher, United States Air Force. Serial number 4857932.
Tribbles
the lesson of The Cloud Minders that we must have empathy and listen to others when they tell us about their lived experience in an environment unlike our own
the cheap-ass animation of TAS
Q
Bynars and Minuet
Beverly Crusher’s frustration in Arsenal of Freedom (and the episode’s Good Ship Lollipop joke)
Picard shooting the other version of himself in Time Squared (to clarify: out of respect for those times when we have to stop ourselves from getting caught in loops/doing stupid stuff and we summon up the courage to break a bad cycle and move forward)
K'Ehleyr
Picard out-lawyering the Sheliak
Rachel Garrett; Yar and Castillo
Lal (but I can’t watch the end anymore, it hurts too much)
the Shakespeare and “Set a course for Betazed. Warp 9.” comedy in Ménage a Troi
Best of Both Worlds, I and II (Shelby inclusive)
every conference table discussion in all of TNG
Beverly’s jump in Remember Me (such a damn good episode)
the reveal in Future Imperfect (which one? all of them)
The Dancing Doctor tap dancing with Data
Darmok. And Jalad. At Tenagra.
Ro Laren
Troi saying, “You could have easily been right” to Ro in Disaster
Hugh, Third of Five
the fact that The Next Phase has so many plotholes and they’re forgivable because the episode is so fun and great
Scotty on the holodeck version of the TOS bridge and Picard joining him
Rascals!
Deanna’s “Ancient West” outfit
the Jefferies tube music and make out session in Lessons
Attached. Oh, my heart.
the Enterprise with three nacelles … and that absolutely perfect last shot of the series
“You exist here.”
Sisko’s casual, everyday affection for Jake
“Old Man”
Rejoined. Lenara Khan. The love. That kiss. The emotional stakes. All of it.
the three Ferengi hitting their own heads to try to fix their universal translators so the 20th century Earth military people mimic the movement to try to communicate
every second of Trials and Tribble-ations including Sisko working overtime to stop fuckmaster Dax, tossing the tribbles, Sisko meeting Kirk, “We do not discuss it with outsiders,” and so much more
Kira blaming Bashir for putting the baby inside her when … you know … behind the scenes
The Sons of Mogh helping with the harvest in Children of Time
Far Beyond the Stars — some of the best if not the best science fiction I have ever seen
the monster fakeout (and kindness) in The Sound of Her Voice, even though the end makes me cry
“Computer, erase that entire personal log.”
Solok
Sisko and Kassidy discussing their comfort levels about a simulation in which the reality was segregation
Janeway waterfalling off the sofa to be closer to Mark on the screen
“Warp particles!”
the lizard babies
the two Janeways in Deadlock
Remember (a painfully good Holocaust episode that doesn’t get enough credit and, yes, I know the path the script took and I’m glad it ended up as a B’Elanna episode)
“I don't know what I'm seeking.” “Then I believe you are ready to begin.”
“The child you spoke of, the girl. Her favorite color was red.” Also, Tuvok’s meditation lamp in the window for Kes.
hot damn, Counterpoint, yaaas
everything in Relativity
“The Yankees, in six games.”
Janeway going after Seven in The Voyager Conspiracy
“This is Lieutenant Reginald Barclay at Starfleet Command.” “It's good to hear your voice, Lieutenant. We've been waiting a long time for this moment.” “The feeling is mutual. Unfortunately, the micro-wormhole is collapsing. We have only a few moments.” “Understood. We are transmitting our ship's logs, crew reports, and navigational records to you now.” “Acknowledged. And we're sending you data on some new hyper-subspace technology. We're hoping eventually to use it to keep in regular contact, and we're including some recommended modifications for your comm system.” “We'll implement them as soon as possible.” “There's someone else here who would also like to say something.” “This is Admiral Paris.” “Hello, sir.” “How are your people holding up?” “Very well. They're an exemplary crew, your son included.” “Tell him, tell him I miss him. And I'm proud of him.” “He heard you, Admiral.” “The wormhole is collapsing.” “I want you all to know we're doing everything we can to bring you home.” “We appreciate it, sir. Keep a docking bay open for us.”
“Nice hair.” (Live Fast and Prosper)

Burnham and Georgiou forming the delta with their footsteps
the CGI on only the shields protecting Burnham from space
“Are we in session? Because I didn't know you were practicing again. Because if I have your undivided attention for fifty minutes, I can think of a whole bunch of other things we could be doing.”
“That's as depressing a trait as I've ever heard.” “I don't give a damn … I still don't give a damn.”
Cornwell beaming in, phaser aimed, taking command of Discovery
Cornwell phasering the fortune cookies
Cornwell’s voice breaking: “So my Gabriel is dead.”
Detmer’s little bounce when Emperor-as-Captain Georgiou takes command
Pike beaming aboard and instantly being all like MOJAVE to prove to the audience he’s the guy from The Cage
New Eden. Everything. Oh my God (pun intended). The visuals. Owo’s backstory. Pollard patching Pike up after he’s shot. The light at the end. Oh my God, yes. That episode. Yes.

“You cannot resign. The loss to Enterprise would be unimaginable. To me.”
“If you’re going to steal a starship, do it correctly.”
Neera Ketoul
La’an normalizing needing to eat all the time as a teenager (especially important for girls to hear)
Pike and Una visually checking in with each other so often that it’s in their cartoon versions (that whole episode, actually, including, “Riker!”)
That’s scrolling through episode titles and jotting down stuff I love off the top of my head, fam.✨
Thank you so much for this ask, anon! ❤️ I needed this positive energy in my life.

after seven exits her outer borg mechanisms theyre left with a body thats highly inorganic
seven keeps it relatively simple and original to how she left the borg with the exception of some android replacements and mods over time for whatever reason they may be necessary
Tumblr media Tumblr media
arm details at the end of the post and a lil story below!
Tumblr media
<<¿como se siente?>>
the question is so unexpected that it takes seven a moment to reply.
they were sitting on some stools at a side table that tuvok and chakotay had installed in the medbay. it wasnt uncommon to have a small droid maintenance station on a medbay in maquis ships so they figured it would only be a matter of time till it was needed.
b’elanna had been the one assigned to assist the emh. he had long gone back to doing his own thing and all that was left was sevens more mechanical parts which left the two alone.
“what does what feel like?”
b’elanna forgot she left half the sentence in her mind. she had been contemplating it the entire time she had been repairing sevens prosthetic arm.
“ay perdón. what does it feel like being touched on your synth skin? can you feel my touch even though your forearm isnt attached to you?”
a pause from seven.
b’elanna shifted in her seat and put the small dermal regenerator on the table. she was almost finished but suddenly felt shy at bringing up something so personal. “you dont have to answer if you dont want to of course-“
“it depends on what is being touched,” seven replied as she wiggled the fingers of her unattached arm, “and yes, i can feel your touch.”
the solitary forearm still having capacity of movement freaked b’elanna out just a bit. borg technology was a wonder and a horror to behold.
“what do you mean by depends?” b’elanna looked at her toolkit, examining the spanner she had used to losen seven’s elbow.
“the skin around my eye was grafted from a de- donor and the skin on the arm youre repairing is made up of tiny hexagonal shaped silicone cells.”
“amazing”
“indeed”
Tumblr media
b’elanna picked up a screwdriver and proceeded put the metal panel back where it belinged “does it feel different from real skin?”
“supposedly almost imperceptibly so.”
b’elanna brought the joints back together and with sevens help latched seven’s forearm back into place. she then grabbed the spanner to tighten the safety in place and looked at it carefully and back at sevens arm.
“will this hurt?” b’elanna’s curiosity amused seven.
“only if you do it too tight.”
“really??”
seven laughed. huh. that was a first.
“no. the metal bits take a bit more than a tight screw to feel pain.”
b’elanna finished but stood in place at sevens side with no intention of uncradling sevens hand.
“how does this feel?” b’elanna said it ever so softly that seven almost didnt catch it.
the touch felt tingly in a way it never had to seven before. her breath hitched (as she frantically ran a minor nerve diagnostic which ran merely a fraction of a second) ever so briefly that b’elanna didnt notice. nothing was wrong. but it was new and just a litle but scary.
“it feels… electric…”
“is that bad?”
“for me? no.”
the medbay scanned seven and beeped with confirmation that <<the patient is ready for release>> startling the two out of the moment.
b’elanna stepped back and gathered her supplies together. “bueno um- if you encounter any more bichos let me know. ill help ya out” she said as she twirled the dermal regenerator she was about to take and tucked it into her coat pocket.
“thankyou for your assistance, doctor torres.”
b’elanna snorted, “youre funny. i like it. see u around.”

Is Sarek abusive?
After a lengthy argument/discussion with my mother (og Trekkie, strangely unfamiliar with K/S culture), I seem to be at a stalemate. It's fascinating because there's a lot of points on both sides. I'll provide my own argument and my mother's argument under read more.
Mine:
-Sarek's behavior (and by proxy, many Vulcans) towards Spock's mixed genetics is a direct contradiction to IDIC (Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations) as Spock represents a small portion of that ideal: Mixed race, arguably queer, and neurodivergent.
-In the Star Trek 2009 deleted scene, Sarek calls him "so human," and from some theories it's believed Spock was surgically altered to appear more Vulcan
-Arguably, you could say this was so other Vulcans wouldn't bully him for looking so human, but we already know how that went.
-Amanda is passive in her parenting, and does little to engage Spock in human traditions along with Vulcan. She goes along with Sarek's beliefs, even if it hurts him.
-Sybok was exiled(?) for embracing emotion and encouraging others to do the same. Michael ran away and is a complete emotional mess (but probably the best out of the three). Spock has identity issues. See a pattern?
-Tuvok is seen to embody a healthier ideal of Vulcan: Permitting himself positive emotions, because it is illogical to deny himself of that. You could imply Sarek's family is just very dysfunctional.
-You can only go so far when excusing behavior with culture, but if someone is being hurt or caused harm, however indirect, it must be addressed by the society or a third perspective in order to improve.
Mom:
-everyone is abusive by modern standards / by human standards, everyone's abusive
-Sarek is an extreme outlier for marrying a human
-Most surgical procedures for Spock make sense, because they'd have to fix some conflicting issues (iron-blood/copper-blood, organ arrangement, etc.) but it is sad Sarek thought to change Spock's appearance when it didn't hinder him in any way.
-By Vulcan standards, Sarek isn't abusive because if anything he's less strict than other Vulcan parents.
-Sarek wasn't considered abusive when the show aired, and he isn't considered abusive now.
-You can't judge another culture by your own standards. (Side note: also believes you can't judge the cult in MidSommar for drugging someone, along with other things they did because it's "their culture.")
With all this in mind, I'm curious to know the general consensus around this topic. I'll leave some extra context below:
My mother comes from an extremely abusive family. Jack Stauber's Opal-level abusive. (I showed her the film and she cried with me) As such, it's understandable that we might have different definitions of abuse, given the generational difference (she's an older mom) and cultural difference (she's Mexican).
Because of this, I'm a pretty sheltered kid, but that also means I don't have a lot of exposure to difficult situations or significant abuse. I can acknowledge that I still have a lot to learn, and I'm trying to peel off my black-and-white mentality as well. I'd appreciate any feedback relating to this and the poll above so I can revise my perspective if I'm wrong!

expanding on prev post by assigning the voyager crew a kate bush song each. obviously the whole of the ninth wave is voyager-coded so it'll have to have its own post and be excluded for this one
janeway: all the love is a very janeway song it's literally about pushing away all the people who are deeply concerned about you - 'the first time i died it was in the arms of good friends of mine'. i'm very torn bc there's So many from the red shoes that are janeway coded but i have to say the wedding list is probably the only one that captures her level of unhinged violence like that's janeway when she's out for blood
chakotay: james and the cold gun is about begging the person you love not to sell their soul to an empty vendetta of violence (see above!). i also quite like reaching out as a chakotay song - 'see how the child reaches out instinctively, to feel how fire will feel, see how the man reaches out instinctively, for what he cannot have... the pull and the push of it all'
tuvok: leave it open! it's such a cerebral song but also kind of guttural at the same time? 'harm is in us, harm in us but power to arm' sounds like something he would say to kes about controlling her telepathy.
b'elanna: under the ivy as mentioned but also hounds of love but ALSO love and anger! i can't even quote a single lyric bc the whole thing is So her and specifically her relationship with tom
seven: immediately i think experiment iv but also mother stands for comfort seems very seven and the borg queen and/or seven and janeway. 'it breaks the cage and fear escapes and takes possession, just like a crowd rioting inside (make me do this make me do that)... am i the cat that takes the bird, to her the hunter, or the hunted?'. i also think suspended in gaffa may not be a seven song tonally but it works lyrically for her relationship to her humanity: 'i won't open boxes that i am told not to, i'm not a pandora, i'm much more like that girl in the mirror, between you and me, she don't stand a chance of getting anywhere at all' 'but sometimes it's hard to know if i'm doing it right, can i have it all now?'
harry: i think army dreamers is a brilliant harry song, it's literally about a golden boy dying young because he dreamed of being in the military. from the perspective of his beloved mother. 'give the kid the pick of pips, and give him all your stripes and ribbons, now he's sitting in his hole, he might as well have buttons and bows'. rocket's tail kind of works as a harry and janeway song - 'and it seemed to me, the saddest thing i'd ever seen and i thought you were crazy, wishing such a thing' (tries going out in a blaze of glory himself) '...was it me said you were crazy?'
tom: night of the swallow!! literally about a criminal pilot - 'oh let me fly, give me something to show for my miserable life, would you break even my wings, like a swallow?'
neelix: I actually quite like never be mine for Neelix, it feels like it could be about all the lives that he could've lived, if his family hadn't been killed, if he'd stayed with Voyager and gone to the alpha quadrant - 'this is where I wanna be, but I know that this will never be mine'. also moments of pleasure seems to capture his attitude to life I think - 'just being alive, it can really hurt sometimes, these moments given, are a gift from time'
the doctor: i want to say deeper understanding bc it is about an ambiguously sentient computer program but on a character level i think he's more sat in your lap, which is about wanting to understand everything and being limited by the capacities of your own mind - 'i must admit, just when i think i'm king, i just begin'
kes: I will admit I'm not a kes scholar but I quite like the big sky for her just for the line 'you never understood me, you never really tried' and this idea that she's always looking up for something larger than herself that other people might not pay attention to

So in Tsunkatse not!Weyoun told Seven that people hated the Borg and would pay big money just to see a Borg Drone hurt.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can only imagine xBs forced to fight in illegal underground fights.
Victimized by the Borg, hunted for parts, fighting in the illegal underground circuit.
Former Borg drone's lives suck.
Also, Seven has such an interesting relationship with the Hirogen. The third time Seven and Voyager encountered a Hirogen he was hunting Species 8472, the only entity to really give the Borg a run for their money.
And Seven and the Hirogen hunter had a brief moment of understanding, Seven feared Species 8472 because of that Seven deliberately disobeyed Janeway's order to save Species 8472.
Then this beauty:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seven: One day the Borg will assimilate your species despite your arrogance. When that moment arrives remember me.
Fast forward to Star Trek Picard, and in the Artifact there is indeed a Hirogen ex-Borg.
Uh... yay?
Also, there was that one Hirogen in Tsunkatse that took Seven in as a student to help her survive Tsunkatse.
I love how in Picard S3 Worf classified Raffi as a Warrior.
And, Hirogens look at Seven fight and call her a Hunter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love all through the episode, Seven is disturbed by this, and it's because she's afraid what the Hirogen says is true.
She already has a lot of blood on her hands. As one former Red Room assassin said, Seven of Nine has a lot of red in her ledger.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seven: The idea of killing someone for the entertainment of others is detestable. Tuvok: Is the idea of losing your own life for the entertainment of others more palatable?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tuvok: As a drone, you took many lives. Seven: I was acting as part of the Collective. Tuvok: You're worried you won't have the strength to accomplish the task on your own.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seven: I'm worried that I will.
In the end, Seven and the Hirogen mentor battled it out and it was a pretty even fight until Seven began to take the upper hand.
Before Seven would issue a killing blow they were both beamed out (Tuvok was the first who was beamed out).
The Hirogen hunter asks Seven if she would have killed him, Seven took a long pause before answering: "I don't know."
I love the ambiguity of that but also fast forward 20 years later:
Tumblr media
After 13 years, Seven of Nine finally found her quarry and killed Bjayzl.
The Hirogen fighter would have been proud.

Imagine Tuvok emotionally logically adopting you
Tuvok x son-like!male reader Star Trek: Voyager {IMAGINE}
Word count: 646 Trope: Father-son relationship, mentor vibes, reader has innocently clumsy and chaotic energy, found family, babyyyyy. Pronouns: He/him Context: You’re a relatively young and inexperienced security ensign (human) on Voyager. A/N: I like this concept, if you people want to see this as a oneshot, just tell me :)

Tumblr media
-----
Imagine Tuvok seeing you struggling after Voyager left their stop at Deep Space Nine in the early days. Struggling as in “trying to do your job, but you have absolutely no idea what you’re doing.” Tuvok would try to ignore your shenanigans as long as he could, but he’d crack at some point. He’d take you to one side and give you a short lecture and you would immediately emotionall attract yourself to him. He’s like a beacon of hope for you and your frank clulessness at your job. You’re trying to be a good security ensign, but it’s hard when you talk to everyone you pass and trip over your own feet. Tuvok offers to mentor you for a short while to make sure you knew what to do when something serious happened.
Your relationship would grow from mentor-mentee to more father-son, as much as Tuvok wouldn’t care to admit. You admire Tuvok, and it shows. You follow him around when you can and as much as Tuvok would look away sort of annoyed and act like you weren’t there, he admires your outlook on life. You think that Tuvok is an inspiration and you learn a lot from him. Sometimes your perspectives on the way to do things are different, but both of you soon got over those differences and instead used them to analyse situations together to get better outcomes.
Tuvok doesn’t want to admit it, but he sees you as a sort of son. Sure, he thinks you have a tendency to be annoying and clingy, but he knows that if he’s occupying you, you won’t accidentally get yourself locked in the brig. During missions, he always insists that you go with him. Tuvok always says it’s for your “work experience benefit”, but Janeway can see straight through this. She lets you go with Tuvok on away missions and such, but not because of this so-called “work experience”. Janeway knows, like everyone accepts you and Tuvok, that you are basically Tuvok’s emotional support human. No one’s judging, people are just glad to see Tuvok loosen up a little bit and you be occupied by someone who’s a good influence.
Tuvok takes care of you and you take care of him, not that either of you actually realises this. You both can often be seen walking around the halls together, Tuvok lecturing you as you listen intently. You sit with him in the Mess Hall and talk about whatever nonsense you can think about. Tuvok used to be slightly bothered by this, but he later realised that in order to teach you, he needed to know you as a person. So now, he listenes to your ramblings with the same attention you give him when he’s talking.
He’s secretly proud of how far you’ve come since the first time he saw you. He often responds to your actions with affirming words to make sure you know you’re doing alright. In return, you try your best to take every piece of advice he gives you to heart so you can improve.
If you’re ever hurt from either a mission or a minor accident, you can guarantee that Tuvok will be the first person to see you in the Sick Bay. If he’s hurt, you do the same and everyone notices because you won’t be as warm as usual, you’d be jittery. Frankly, if you’re hurt, Tuvok experiences the same sort of thing, maybe in a Vulcan way, but everyone can tell he’s stressed.
Tuvok is someone you can trust, someone who grounds you to the present and someone who will never betray you. You remind Tuvok that he is part of the Voyager family and you remind him of his children back in the Alpha Quadrant.
You are there for each other even if you don’t realise it.
Tuvok: Father of the year, everyone.
-----
I know I haven’t done the requests, I’m so sorry ;-;. I’m trying to get them done, I promise. I’ve just hit a point where I’m trying to get the plot to make sense. I’m giving you this shorter kind of content because I find it easy to write, it's still content for you and it’s fun for me.

Requesting “show me where it hurts” for j7!
prompt from here! thank u anon <3
the captain had the misfortune of still being confined to the sick bay. sitting still and a janeway never mixed well together. chakotay would come by to report and engage in light banter with her–tuvok had brought her one of his calming incense (much to the doctor’s protest). in the dead hours of the ship, b’elanna would make little passing comments—sometimes attempting to prod a little too much inside kathryn’s brain, and then falling asleep after one of kathryn’s lengthy answers, leaving kathryn in company with her light snoring.
the most notable visitor had to be seven of nine–who visits at 0600, 1200, 1800, and 2100 hours respectively. the pattern is lost to kathryn, however, she intends to inquire about it. in a few seconds now that the clock is about to hit 0600 hours.
like clockwork, the sickbay doors slide open and reveal kathryn’s earliest visitor, seven of nine– with a cup of coffee in hand. kathryn attempts to crane her neck to get a glimpse of her visitor—only to wince as she’d once again forgotten about the state of her spine and the stiff neck she now had. these sickbay beds are not merciful to her body at all.
“seven, how kind of you. i didn’t know it was you who brought me coffee.” usually by the time kathryn is up, she supposes that if seven does not see her awake, the ex-borg decides to not disturb her slumber.
there were several reasons that the captain does not know why it was seven of nine who were in charge of bringing her coffee. the most significant was that the replicator (the senior officers are convinced) is biased towards the ex-borg. they had all tested it in the past two days, someone would ask for a cup of coffee for the captain and it would not be in its perfect condition. paris had been convinced that voyager was becoming sentient.
seven’s lips quirk up at kathryn’s inquiry. “well, as i visit you early, i thought it would be prudent to suggest myself for this duty.”
“just the perfect temperature too.” kathryn, with every glee she could muster, takes the cup into her hands and as per her ritual, takes a breath of the aroma of the coffee first before taking a sip. as it turns out, it was too much glee as her stiff neck acts up when she’d shrugged her upper body and visibly winces in front of seven of nine.
“captain?”
she waves her off, putting the coffee down by the makeshift bedside table.
“only a stiff neck, seven. nothing that’ll terminate me.”
it does little to assuage seven’s worry, on the contrary, she seemed to be more persistent to do something about the problem that kathryn was experiencing.
“show me,” once the pain has subsided, kathryn finds herself making direct eye contact with the ex-borg—now hovering over her with those bright blue eyes.
“seven, it’s a stiff neck—”
“you are confined to the sickbay because your spine is still not well enough for you to report to duty, captain. tell me where it is stiff, so that i may fix it—please.”
kathryn had always thought an angry seven of nine was the bane of her existence—someone should remind her about today with the development of having seen an endearing seven of nine. she even said please, and when has kathryn ever been able to refuse her anything within her capacity?
she promptly opens her mouth–however, seven was not done yet.
“it is the least i could do to alleviate your discomfort.” the ex- borg’s gaze takes another focus, the cup of coffee on the bedside table or perhaps the computer beside it. kathryn should chalk it up to her delirious state but if her eyes were not fooling her she would swear that seven of nine is flustered–and for the lack of better words, feeling helpless towards her predicament.
kathryn beckons seven to come closer if it were possible, so she could reach and reassure her with a gentle caress. “seven, your company is enough to comfort me.”
“but my company won’t be enough to get rid of your stiff neck.”
leave it to seven of nine’s persistence, kathryn thinks before chuckling. who was she to refuse blessings anyway?
seven moves behind the bed. “here.” kathryn takes the other hand, with the cybernetic implants—feeling apprehensive as to how much it’ll do against her muscle problem. after much consideration, she places them on the nape of her neck. “and here.”
it would have been a tender moment—kathryn’s little stiff neck problem had gone away and seven was no longer breathing down her neck for refusing her care and concern. that was until in the middle of their light banter, the ship’s chief engineer coughed to make her presence known, eyes twinkling in an admission that she’d seen the entire exchange unfold. of course, seven considers this the best time to take her leave, remarking something about her overstaying and saying she’ll be back at 1200 hours.
“interesting, i did not know the sickbay had masseuse benefits and a cup of coffee delivered.”
“where is a binary pulsar when i need it?” kathryn remarks, rolling her eyes as her chief engineer keeps cackling to herself.
“it’s no harm, captain. im just saying, tom is not even doing any of those and we’re together.”
damned b’elanna and her klingon wits.
