Thought #241
Hero walked into their apartment. They sighed as they dropped their keys in the bowl on their entry table.
"I told you to stop coming here."
Villain groaned. "I need your help."
Hero rolled their eyes, walking to their kitchen. They grabbed the first aid out of their cabinet. "Let me guess. You were practicing your teleporting, and you ran head first into a wall."
"No..." Villain dropped their head down. "I messed up my timing and ran head first into a bus."

Snippet #5 - I’m Right Here
Even though they had been told not to, Hero kept pace with the bed being wheeled rapidly through the sterile white corridors. The anxious voices of the nurses and doctors flowed and ebbed around them as they gripped the bed’s rail until their knuckles whitened, unable to keep their eyes off the listless villain that lay in it. Black eyes. Bruised and swollen face. Bloody cuts. And more they’d heard from the doctors: broken ribs, likely perforated lung. Anger flared through them. God, they’d make Supervillain pay.
They halted when a nurse put a gentle but firm hand on their shoulder.
‘I’m sorry Hero, but you can’t go any further,’ she said, her brow furrowed in sympathy as she took in Hero’s pale face and numb gaze. Poor thing.
‘Where are you taking them?’
‘We have to get a full-body CAT scan done on Villain to assess the extent of their internal damage, before we decide whether they undergo surgery or not,’ she explained. ‘You can sit here if you want to wait for them.’ She gestured to a row of chairs.
Hero was gazing over the nurse’s shoulder at the rapidly-receding gurney with longing and pain shining through their eyes. They tore their eyes away from Villain and looked the nurse in her eyes.
‘Promise me Villain will get the best care possible.’ The nurse opened her mouth but Hero went on, pleading. ‘I know how they’re seen by the public, but no one deserves to go through the torture they went through, so please, please do everything you can to make sure they live.’ Their voice cracked.
The nurse’s face softened. ‘You’re a good one. I promise I’ll tell the–’
A scream pierced the air.
Both of them rushed through the door. Hero cried out to see Villain writhing in the bed, thrashing against the hands and wrist ties restraining them as a doctor tried in vain to sedate them.
‘No no no no no NO!’ Villain shrieked, their eyes wild with terror as they stared at the needle. ‘Let me go! Let me go!’
‘Move!’ Hero pushed through the crowd around the gurney and grabbed Villain’s shoulders. ‘Villain!’
Villain gasped for air, their wide eyes landing on Hero’s teary ones. ‘Hero?’ they whispered hoarsely. Hero nodded, choking back a sob. ‘Yeah I’m right here,’ they whispered back.
Tears began dripping from Villain’s eyes, mirroring the ones running down Hero’s face. ‘They have to put you to sleep, love,’ Hero said quietly, sniffling. ‘So they can heal you.’
Villain shook their head vigorously, panic filling their eyes. ‘No!’ they rasped, trying to twist out of Hero’s grip. ‘Supervillain already—I can’t—not again!’
Hero whipped to the wide-eyed doctor, frozen with the syringe in his hand.
‘Do it, quickly!’ The doctor jumped into action. Villain struggled fruitlessly.
‘No Hero please! PLEASE don’t let them!’ they screamed.
‘I’m sorry, I’m so sorry!’ Hero sobbed, their hands on Villain’s shoulders and their foreheads pressed together. Villain cried out as the needle punctured their skin, and Hero rubbed their arms soothingly, murmuring words of comfort that went unheard as Villain finally slumped in their arms.
They pressed a soft kiss to Villain’s hair before straightening up and moving back, avoiding the puzzled and suspicious stares from the room’s occupants. They walked out the door and sat on a chair in the waiting area, crossing their legs with finality. They were going to be there when Villain woke up.

Hello there! Random tumblr user who came across your blog here you have marvelous and excellent writing!!! Could you write something about the villian reading the hero's diary?
Request #1
Weapons don't weep.
“That will never be what awaits people like us,” said Villain, trying so very hard to spit it out like venom, failing as their voice broke at the last word, leaving bitterness they always aimed to ignore, and they swallowed and continued “you and me both know already how everything ends, this…”
Hero’s notebook, well-loved and missing pages, hit the ground, pages wetted by the last drops of a calming storm, words they always wrote in pencil blurring with the water, vanishing from the paper. And, for a moment, they were tempted to plunge in and grab it, to save what they had written when time allowed, but they stood still from before the other, quiet and motionless, blinking back tears.
“Is a delusion you’d do well to start forgetting.” their eyes met in the middle, and Villain, just as Hero, pretended crying was not what they wanted, pretended that saving the words of what could have been was not what they wished, and Villain rasped, cleared their throat and straightened their posture “I went into your office for papers, for maps, whatever would save me some time figuring out what you team pretended to do this time, instead, I found you feeding your quite hyperactive imagination, you must understand how disappointed I am.”
It was obvious, of course, that Hero was not, nor should apologise for not having provided satisfactory evidence of their plans to their enemy, yet, the tone of reproach and discontent from the other had them almost saying sorry.
Hero was embarrassed, mortified, face burning under their surgical mask, heart beating fast as a child found misbehaving by their mother, and they wanted to run, to run inside the facility and never go back outside.
Yet, they stood.
“Are you not gonna say anything here?” Villain added after a moment of silence, louder, and Hero wished they didn’t have to.
“I was just daydreaming, I thought maybe, if this is sorted maybe we could…”
“Oh no, I know what we could, I could cook, perhaps, and you could bake and do the dishes, wasn’t that right?” the Villain mocked “You could come to understand how every human is prone, at the end, to kindness but never to perfection, and you could see that in every scar that you bare and every kiss you've ever felt. What kind of childish nonsense were you rambling about? You are a weapon Hero, as much as I am one, weapons don’t cook, we don’t garden, we don’t clean, we kill, we get the job done.”
Hero stayed silent this time.
Villain kicked the notebook towards them.
“I hope, for your own sake, that you can understand that.”
***
Villain let themselves fall on their sofa.
Hero had gotten too close, they had gotten too hopeful, sloppy on the battlefield, lenient with their enemies. Perhaps with that, Villain thought, they would place their distance, leverage against them was the last thing they wished to give Supervillain and Superhero both, lack of morality was something that very well united them, they were not to allow Hero to end in between.
The war would end, Villain promised themselves, and only once it was over they would apologise.
And alone, at last, they allowed themselves to cry.

I did want to make it like cheesy, flustered-hero, but what can I say, I love drama.
I hope you like it :), I'm sorry it took so long :(.
Btw I really need to decide on a format, how does it look better?

Embarrassed
Heroxvillain x sidekick
Warnings
Implied and referenced abuse/toture
Asking to be hurt/harmed & threats of harming for someone else
Nudity( no photos, this is a story)
Villain shoveled himself into hero’s base, his hands bleeding and covered in burns. He glanced towards the left, looking at his battered self in the mirror. Unsatisfied, he continued his trudging.
Hero paused down the hallway, watching as villain walked before him, his hands moving above his head in surrender before going out in-front of his face
Defeat.
Hero gulped, watching as villain bent down on his knees and folded his arms behind his back, bowing and breathing though the pain.
“ superhero was correct. Instead of trying to fight you…” villain glanced up, staring at hero’s tear filled eyes. “ I should be on my knees, begging you for forgiveness, for you to be merciful on me.”
Hero stepped backwards, stumbling on the rug and falling hastily on the ground.
Villain slumped, his knees bending at an akward angle as his forehead touched the carpet. “ he said that I should swallow my shame and ask for you to hurt me instead. I hurt you so I deserve it.”
“ villain. I don’t beat people while they’re already down. Yeah, you’ve done some… unforgivable shit but… clearly superhero’s already done the job…”
Hero gasped as he looked at villains blood droolen mouth. “ not implying that I would hurt you either way but… it seems as if you’ve learned your lesson mate.”
Sidekick barged through the doors, a snarl on his face. “ hero! Get up, don’t let this fool sit here and trick you!” He exclaimed, walking past hero to kick villain into his side. Villain only grunted, curling into a ball.
“ sidekick! He’s hurt already. Leave him be.” Sidekick stopped, eyes widening in sympathy as he took in villains form. “ no need to defend me hero. This is what I deserve, anything is better than superhero … anything…. Even, even death.”
Hero gasped, crawling towards villain and running a hand through his matted hair.
“ kill me if that’s what you want. Hurt me, torture me, anything… I deserve it. Use me as target practice, tie me up and starve me… superhero said all of those are good ideas and you should in fact use them all.” He coughed, ramblings exploding out of his mouth as hero and sidekick conversed about something he couldn’t hear.
“ villain… we’re not going to hurt you.” Hero said softly and cautiously, running a hand down his back. Villain only shook his head, tears streaming down his face. “ if you wont hurt me, then I will hurt myself for you. We can start now.” He suggested, not taking notice of the horror written in hero’s face.
“ how do we know that he’s not lying, hero?” Sidekick eventually asked, wary of the villain laying infront of them.
“ how do we know he’s not doing this to fool us or just to look pathetic so we have sympathy for him.” He continued, his hands on his sides. Villain hummed, slowly standing and undressing in front of the hero’s. He stood naked, every part of his body covered in bruises or blood, wounds deep enough to kill.
The hero’s stood in shock. “ a-aren’t you embarrassed to sit- stand in here j-naked?!” Sidekick nearly exclaimed in shock.
“Sometimes the embarrassment fades away.” Villain answered, sitting down and leaning against the wall, staring into nothingness.

Random prompt #57 TW: injury, blood
"Ow! That hurt!" Villain flinched away, mouth curling into a snarl as they glared at the person cleaning the wounds on their face. They did not expect Hero to bare their teeth back, merely scooting closer to continue cleaning the cut. But the villain wasn't going to back down that easily - they could take care of themself, thank you very much! "Villain," Hero warned as the other shied away once more, moving a hand to cup the villain's waist and drag them back. "What? I don't need your help!" "Maybe you should've thought about that before passing out on my porch covered in blood."

How does nooroo feel about Tom in your villian dad au?
After initial introductions, Tom basically thinks Nooroo is a figment of his imagination and a testament to his mind crumbling from the grief of losing Sabine. Nooroo gets an inside look on what really matters to tom, though
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tom uses the butterfly miraculous not for himself, but for the benefit of his daughter. The vengeance he's trying to take on "Hawkmoth" isn't quite as simple as "you're responsible for the death of my wife," it stems from a very, very different source - which makes Nooroo more sympathetic to helping him.
He's still not thrilled, but, Marinette and Tom are so kind to him, he really can't find it in himself to complain.

Imagine a spoiled royal, heir to the throne, part of a powerful bloodline that gives them "divine right to rule". They're raised to be cruel, and told their heritage puts them above everyone else.
And then one day, it's revealed before the entire court that it's all a lie. The royal was switched at birth with the child of a servant. The real heir has been serving in the palace all this time, unaware of their birthright. Maybe they're even someone the faux-royal had been particularly cruel to all their lives.
The ruling family is quick to push out the false heir---blood is more important to them than any illusion of family---and welcome the servant with open arms.
Maybe the false heir is banished from the kingdom they were raised to rule. Maybe they're imprisoned so the truth can never come out. Maybe they're made a servant, now at the beck and call of someone they'd thought beneath them.
Does the true heir take pity on them, or do they seek vengeance from years of abuse? Does the royal family have any regrets, or have they always been cold, only concerned with holding power? What do the servants and commoners do, now that the arrogant "heir" has lost all power and protection?

The hero was getting blood all over the villains nice jacket.
“I’m sorry about the blood—“ they murmured, and the villain hushed them.
“We’re almost there. Just—just stay still, okay?”
If the hero didn’t know better, they’d say the villain almost sounded afraid.
“It’s okay. M’fine.”
The villain breathed a harsh laugh, cradling the hero to their chest as they walked.
“Yes, you certainly look fine bleeding everywhere.”
There was that tone again. The hero frowned. The villain had never used that tone, especially not with them, and they had no idea what it was—
They barged into the villains apartment, as the hero realized the villain was concerned.
Oh.
The villain set them down on a couch, gently, but the hero still flinched. The villain apologized, soft and gentle, and ran their hand over the wound, assessing the damage.
The villains face went carefully blank.
The hero’s head spun, just a little, and they closed their eyes to fight it off. A moment later, they opened them to find the villain wrapping their side.
Their eyebrows crinkled.
“You—when did you get those?” Their voice cracked.
The villain looked up at them.
“Just a minute ago. You passed out,” they said calmly.
Their fingers continued deftly wrapping the bandage on the hero’s side.
“Wait. Why are you,” the hero grit their teeth as the villain brushed against the wound. “Why are you helping me.”
The villain laughed.
“For someone so observant, you miss a lot of things.”
“What is that supposed to mean?”
The villain shook their head.
“I knew you were a bit obtuse, but darling, really. Work with me.”
They tied off the bandages, helping the hero sit up against the arm of the couch. The villain held their gaze, cool and collected and concerned, all at once.
“Your powers stem from emotions, yes?”
The hero nodded, once.
“So positive emotions make you stronger. They can heal you, right?”
The hero had tried to keep that bit of information under wraps. Not only could they heal themselves if they were happy, they could heal anyone. They didn’t want to end up some tool to be used in some military stronghold. Still, they healed civilians when no one was looking.
If they were mad, though? They could destroy anything, tear concrete in half, send metal into dust.
The hero cleared their throat. “Yes. Positive emotions can heal me. Not feeling super happy right now, so I’ll get back to you on that—“
The villain sat back on their heels.
“Do you trust me?”
The hero blinked at them. They were ready to give them some bullshit answer about how they could never trust the villain and never would; but that wasn’t true. The villain had saved them, more times than they could count.
And between the agency and the villain? Well, the hero knew who they would choose.
“Yes,” they said hesitantly, and the villain kissed them.
Warmth flooded them, and they reached for the villain, tugging them closer, and the villain smiled against their mouth.
The wound on their side began to close, and the villain felt it. They smiled, pleased with themself, like a cat.
“I give you positive emotions, huh,” they said, still grinning.
“For someone so observant, you can be so obtuse—“ the villain kissed them, again, to get them to shut up. This time, the hero smiled.
The wound closed further.
“I didn’t know you liked me,” the hero murmured.”
“I tolerate you. I just happen to hate everyone else.”
The hero laughed, side twinging with pain.
The villain checked the half closed wound, then turned back to the hero.
“Kiss it better?”
The villain rolled their eyes.
This time, when the villain kissed them, the hero didn’t let them stop.

Thought #238
Hero walked to his apartment building, humming a soft tune.
He arrived at the door and pulled out his keys.
The window at the end of the hallway shattered and Villain tumbled through it.
"You took forever to get home." Villain stood and grabbed her side. "I need your help."
Villain collapsed.
Hero ran to them. He grabbed Villain's wrist and felt for her pulse.
"I'm still alive." Villain said softly. "I just need a few stitches and I'll get out of your hair."
Hero chuckled and swept Villain up in his arms. "You aren't going anywhere for a while."
Villain grabbed at his shirt and sighed. "Fine."
Hero opened his door and set Villain down softly on the couch.
"I'll only stay here if you provide some ice cream, a warm blanket, and all the pain medication you have."
Hero laughed and shut his door.
"How about we start with you telling me what happened, and I'll look at your wound." Hero took off his jacket and knealt by Villain's side.
She scoffed. "Ugh you're being so needy."
Hero chuckled and pulled up Villain's shirt. She winced and moved away from his hand.
"So what happened?" Hero asked softly.
Villain put her hands over her eyes. "I learned a secret about Supervillain. He decided he valued his secret over me, so he attacked." She winced as Hero touched the gash in her side.
"I got out by the skin of my teeth. Luckily, I'm pretty good at hiding and moving quickly. You're the first person I thought about. I don't have anyone else."
Hero sat back and ran his hand through his hair. "I can help you. It won't be easy and it won't be quick. But I can provide you a safe place to stay and recover. To hide out."
Villain sniffled. "Thank you." She whispered.
He nodded and stood. "I need to run to the store for some supplies. I'll be back soon."
Villain sat up and opened her mouth.
"And ice cream."

Despite being relatively well-liked amongst the villainous population of City, Hero hadn’t encountered this before: upon returning home, Villain, buried under their bed covers, chest rising and falling in listless sleep. Hero keeps the lights off as they shut the open window and change.
They lift the covers and slide underneath, filling the space beside Villain. Villain stirs, cracking an eye open.
“Well, well,” Hero whispers. “What’s a lovely little troublemaker like yourself doing in my bed?”
Curtain-filtered moonlight casts over their face. Villain’s lips quirk up in half a smirk. “Was looking for someone to hold. Somewhere to hide.”
“From Supervillain?”
“Yes.”
Locking legs and hands finding waists; rites of comfort. Affection and longing. Suddenly, they’re both so tired.
“Can we stay like this for a while? Before you arrest me?” Villain’s question is suspended between theirs and Hero’s lips.
“You kidding?” Hero replies. “I might keep you to myself all night.”
They never fail to make Villain smile. “Maybe I should be more afraid.”
“Absolutely. People say I’m terrifying, haven’t you heard?” They tug Villain close, soliciting a laugh.
Hero reads something unspeakable in Villain’s gaze. A singular love they’ll never need to define, for they’re the first to hold Hero’s heart this way.
After a minute, “For the record, no one says you’re terrifying.” They burrow into the embrace. “But this is.”
It breaks Hero. These moments when each passing second feels like a facture. When holding Villain isn’t enough and reality promises to tear them apart.
“I know.” They kiss the crown of their head. “But we have tonight.”
Hero plans on sleeping in and waking up alone.

Random prompt #16 TW: slight dehumanization ━━━━━━♥♠♥━━━━━━ "I think I can control my own damn dog." Supervillain scoffed, pushing past the henchman trying to warn them. They could hear the snarls and rattles of chains from across the hall, of course they didn't need to be told that Villain was angry! As they walked to the metal door, the master criminal brainstormed what exactly to do with the heroes. If the good-doers were lucky, Supervillain might not just let Villain go and hunt them down for revenge. With an aggressive shove and a blast of their power, the metal door had flung open for Supervillain and they marched inside. They glanced around the dimly lit room, immediately spotting Villain; chained, muzzled and furious. A rippling snarl came from Villain and their partner smiled, walking closer and placing a hand on the other criminal's cheek, unbothered by the threat of claws and muzzled but sharp teeth. "Calm down, pup. You can save all that aggression for when I get you out of here." ━━━━━━♥♠♥━━━━━━

Ring of Engagement
Villain locked the cuffs around Hero's wrists, "You're at fault for getting stuck in this situation." They sighed. Hero was on a terrible losing streak this month, and a part of Villain wanted to ask what was wrong; then again, what right did they have to ask those questions? They only ever met with them once a couple of weeks.
Their eyes had caught something they hadn't noticed as they secured the cuffs, "A ring?" They smirked, "I didn't know you were engaged."
Hero grumbled something and reluctantly let themselves be led away to the vehicle. For some reason, it hadn't occurred to Villain that Hero might've had a life outside their job, but the thought had disturbed them enough to grow slightly annoyed at the proposition. "I didn't take you for being a potential spouse." They off-handedly commented. They weren't entirely sure why they said it, maybe just to pass the time or to fill in the empty silence at Hero's refusal to banter.
They pushed them into the front seat before stepping to the driver's side and starting the ignition. It would take a while until they arrived at the lair, mainly because they had moved it outside of town to avoid the growing dangers surrounding the downtown area.
"How're you feeling?" They glanced to the right of them and caught Hero's annoyed stare.
"Are you going to keep talking, or are we gonna do this in peace?"
"A little grumpy today, huh?" They chuckled and pulled the car onto a highway. "Get used to me because we'll be stuck together."
"For fuck's sake..." They leaned back into the chair and fiddled with the metal, locking their hands together; a specialized handcuff prevented a person from using their powers.
"So what's up with the ring? You got a family?"
Hero scoffed lightly and stared out the window. "Why? Were you interested?"
Villain felt their ego shift a bit, "What? No. You're way in over your head, dear." They licked their teeth and stifled an uncontrolled laugh, "Besides, you're not even my type."
"Okay, well, you're not my type either."
The soft hum of the tires running along asphalt covered the few minutes of silence between them again as Villain wondered if engaging further would bring more harm than good. Still, their inability to keep their lips shut made them decide, "It's a cheap-looking ring anyway." They mumbled.
Their adversary laughed heartedly, "Are you seriously judging me for a ring? Just let it go already!"
"I'm not judging, it's just ugly."
"You're ugly."
"You would actually settle down with someone who can barely give you a proper ring? Wow."
Hero shrugged, "And you could do better?"
They clicked their tongue, almost too glad they had asked, "I sure as hell would."
Their rival smiled and looked in Villain's direction. "All this for a ring with no meaning..."
Villain spared a second to shoot a glare at Hero's smugness. Yet, somewhere inside, they'd gone through the stages of grief until swift recovery at the newfound information. Villain smiled pleasantly, and Hero had mistaken it for another challenge. Their eyes scanned them for another reaction besides the failed attempt to laugh with joy. They couldn't believe their luck. Hero wasn't engaged.
What a relief.
"What's so funny?" Hero asked.
"Nothing," they smirked again and continued focusing on the road.
"You've flamed me all day for my romantic decisions--"
Villain shrugged. "What? I already told you I'm not interested. You can do whatever you want with your love life. Go marry a hero for all I care." They rolled their eyes and tightened their grip on the steering wheel. Yet, Hero could see they kept that smile, a sense of satisfaction.
Hero crossed their legs and faced the window again, "Yeah, maybe I will. Better than someone with a criminal record."
Their eyes squinted, a flash of irritation and some bitter hurt stung through those words, and even though they had previously said very clearly that they weren't interested, the intense pain that arrived moments afterwards promised a different reality.
They took a deep breath, their brows furrowed, and without any warning, Villain pulled the car over abruptly, the car set on idle. "First of all, you have no reason to bring up my past."
"What's your deal anyways, Villain? Just keep driving."
"No. You're saying this, and you're saying that you better stay off of my back."
"Or what?" they smirked calmly. Their unbothered eyes hid another suppressed feeling they had only seen a few times previously. Villain unbuckled their seatbelt without much thought; they'd pushed their lips roughly against Hero's. Their hands pulled at their attire, and in response, Hero reciprocated with an equal amount of fierceness. Their lips locked in a battle for control, tugging and roughly pushing them back down again repeatedly.
Their eyes opened momentarily in a silent argument for domination. Unfortunately, Hero was always on a losing streak, and their bad luck had returned in the form of a small trickle of blood down their lip as Villain bit slightly harder than intended. It didn't have to come down to it, but Hero forced it upon themselves.
"Fucking idiot," Villain breathed heavily against their mouth and licked lightly at the cut, "Look what you made me do to you."
Hero winced, their breath bated and sharp. They patiently waited for Villain to undo their seatbelt, "That hurt, you animal."
"Shut up," Villain shoved Hero to the back of the car; they rechecked the vehicle to be left in park while busy only momentarily. Hero sat on the leather chair, still trying to understand their surroundings. Their enemy followed quickly behind with much more elegance than them, "What are you sitting around for? Get on your back."
"You're going to have to make me!"
______
The sun had already dipped below the horizon, leaving the streets dark. Long empty stretches of road were trapped between a suffocating line of pine trees. The sky was a dim blue, heavy with clouds as they began to roll in.
Hero woke up a little warmer than expected. Villain had left their coat lying on top of them, which kept them from the chilly temperatures of the season's end as they approached fall.
Hero could barely make out Villain's words through the dull sounds of the vehicle's engine. "Up already?" They glanced at the rearview mirror and adjusted it slightly.
They could only groan as they struggled to sit up from their position. It was much harder to do with the handcuffs still on their wrists. Villain would never let their guard down, even if they knew there wasn't any threat at their weakest state. "I'm starving."
"As I expected." They smirked, "Just give me a second, I know a place." They pulled the car over to what looked like a diner. Its bright light nearly burned their eyes if they hadn't squeezed them shut in time.
Villain stepped out of the car and opened the back door. "C'mon now, don't waste my time."
Hero took a deep breath and used what little strength was left to scoot to the edge.
"Wait."
Villain leaned into the car and looked them over, their hands reaching around their neck and pushing their hair to one side. Villain's hands were exponentially colder than theirs, and instinctively, Hero had goosebumps at the touch of their icy fingers along their neck and down their collarbone.
"You're freezing." They murmured.
"I know." They whispered back and straightened up again, "Stay here."
From the trunk of the car, Villain pulled out a scarf and stuck out a hand to help them out of the vehicle. They would have nearly collapsed on themselves if it hadn't been for Villain's quick catch. "Easy there." They helped them up and wrapped the scarf around their neck with careful focus. Next, they undid their cuffs; Hero was just glad they weren't going in with them still on. In place of the cuffs, however, Villain took it upon themselves to reach for their hand.
Even though they complained of the cold earlier, it felt nice. Villain's hands were comforting as they stayed secured onto them. Hopefully, they knew that; it would be a shame otherwise.
"Be good." Villain shut the door, and they walked inside the diner.
Villain insisted on sitting next to them rather than across, and it wasn't like they had a choice in the matter anyway since they were the prisoner. Whatever it was, it was probably out of fear of them escaping. They had Hero sit between the window and them. "What do you want?" They slid over the menu in their direction.
With heavy eyelids, they tapped on the sheet at whatever was closest. "This one."
"This one? You sure?"
They nodded. All Hero wanted to do was go back to sleep; they only woke up due to hunger. One of the employees walked over and took their order. Villain did the talking; they could only stare outside at the small shower of rain that began to pour from the sky. "How long until we get to your lair?"
"That's confidential." They said.
Hero narrowed their eyes at Villain's reflection, "Don't tell me you're trying to kill me and dump by body somewhere out here."
They heard their enemy laugh. "No, that's too cliche."
Hero adjusted themselves in their seat and felt a dull pain from there. They reached into their pocket, and it was the ring from earlier. They didn't recall placing it in their pocket. Hero took a deep breath and set it on the table, sliding it to Villain's side.
"Hm?" Villain's attention shifted to their hand on the table as they pulled it away to reveal the ring underneath. "Are you giving this to me now?" Villain mused.
They looked at Villain's expression, a mix of disbelief and a calm delight. "You can have it. I don't want it anymore."
They quietly picked up the band and lifted it to their eyes. The intricate details hidden in its sharp edges weren't noticeable from a distance, but they've come to appreciate its worth even if Hero deemed it meaningless. Without another word, Villain placed it back in its spot. "You can wear it."
Hero's head rose just enough to catch them looking their way. They tucked the ring back into their pocket and settled their hand atop Villain's.
