Man, the song Whoops a Doodle by Buddy Weed (Funny) is a perfect example of how I think Rusame really works.

They only have such limited time to spend together before one has to handle a business trip or having to go home to deal with something. The fact that one has to always leave before they can spend deep and proper quality time drives the other insane for their attention. It has always driven both of them mad, especially during the cold war. They are starving for each other and cherish every moment with one another, even if they're beating one another in a fight.

The Tale of the Prince and the Merman. Chapter 7 (just published)

I didn’t manage to translate everything in mermay, but later is better than never.

Alfred almost choked with indignation – how dares he… Ros simply did not believe in his knowledge of the Sublunary world, in the knowledge of someone who was born there, grew up and lived his life – and he could not prove in any way that they were true without risking immediately rise to the surface with his belly up. He opened and closed his mouth, not understanding what to say at all – but when he was looking at Ros, who was again immersed in his dreams, an understanding began to slowly seep into his soul – that was not everything.

There was something else that made Ros think the Sublunary world was so amazing.

“This was the most amazing sight in my life” Ros answered him in a whisper, looking straight into his eyes, mesmerizing him. “Alfred… I don’t see how world that makes such wonderful things could be bad”

I need to talk about soft rusame or I am going to die

I talk about the more toxic side of rusame a lot with my friends, because every aspect of their dynamic is super intriguing to me, but I have neglected to show some love towards their more softer and tender moments that are possible.

Ivan and Alfred’s relationship has always been strange and rocky, interestingly unique. They have a lot of tension and resentment for one another, but they have an equal amount of respect for each other. They know that when they’re at their lowest, they could confide in each other.

Example: Ivan going through hardships, things that are unbearable to face alone. He’s at his breaking point, struggling and barely surviving. He feels as if he has no one, but he does know a certain golden boy that he knows he can confide in, even if he doesn’t want to admit it. He goes to Alfred’s house to seek some comfort— Not help, just comfort. Peaceful silence and distance, just being in each other’s presence, just knowing Ivan has Alfred in the same room is reassuring, he is so painfully used to being alone. It isn’t always them attending to their own things, if Ivan really needs it, Alfred offers physical comfort, such as hand holding and other grounding techniques, maybe even cuddling, always in silence. Their actions very much speak louder than their words, which is for the best.

Their definitions of love are strange, but even in times of tension, their stifled intimacy persists. They care for each other, albeit in an extremely complex way that only they would understand, and they’re content with that.

Their love is addictive, every kiss, hug, etc. is intoxicating, they can’t get enough of each other, despite claiming otherwise, they always find each other again. It always circles back to them. No matter how hard they try to forget each other, they’re so drawn to each other and cannot escape their feelings, they yearn, hard, desperate to put their hands on one another’s body and hungry for the feeling of their body warmth and skin coming into contact.
