first off, that's hilarious. second, the potential of Alfred and Mathias running into each other because they're both smuggling tea to sell in England is fucking incredible. and if it's before 1772, then both Alfred and Mathias are members of Arthur's own fucking household.

I was in Copenhagen in December and saw this comically tall bench and decided it’s there for Sweden and his comically long legs

I like to think Denmark would’ve put it there as a joke and gotten his shit rocked (before Sve started actually using it in visits)

Loved your post on universities! It reminded me of something I once read in a history book where the author cited a Danish student’s recollection of his time at Copenhagen University sometime in the late 1700s–early 1800s, and it was just this poor dude complaining about getting bullied by a group of overachieving Norwegian students who only socialised among themselves, always hogged the best seats in the auditorium and called the Danes “jyder” (derogatory). If I remember correctly there was also some throwing of paper wads involved. Just wanted to share cuz the original text was so funny, I’ve been trying to find it again but no luck yet 😭

Norwegian students in Copenhagen were definitely something else 😅 I think that culture that grew around those students def helped in promoting a Norwegian identity as something to be proud of in Denmark-Norway. And we still have some of the traditions they made up in use in Norwegian universities today! Like bullying Danes

Concept: Alfred in a mossy oak hat, orange camo tee shirt, dirty ripped jeans with tin of grizzly chew in his pocket, and a pair of steel toed work boots. Hopping on a four wheeler and riding through the woods till he reaches a creek with an old tractor tire that's hiding a jar of apple pie moonshine, and homemade fishing pole from God knows when. If he manages to get one he'll cook it over a campfire.

Alternatively: the same outfit + with an orange vest, but him sitting up in a deer stand, drinkin from a thermos of warm cocoa waiting quietly for that buck to waltz on by. Sometimes he sits there all day and gets nothing, sometimes he gets one. When he gets one he makes deer jerky and deer sausage pizza.

It's amazing how well you all did! I wouldn't consider Copenhagen's result that bad either, it's still 143/323! And your Fine particulate matter is soo close to being good instead of moderate like the rest of us!

I don't have that big of a population and aren't the biggest of cities but I still have one the biggest from 1-8th place so this is just great! And there are many other cities that are smaller than me.

I do wish Riga and Vilnius could be higher up like me, but they're doing okay too!
