As autistic coded as Illumi is, he is also EXTREMELY Bpd coded. Here's a thread abt why that would be, from a person with bpd. 🧵
Tumblr media
Everything about his character screams a person that feels so so much but forcefully tones his feelings down so hard to the point where they seem nonexistent.
On the exterior he seems like he couldn't care less about most things and is a very calm and controlled person. However, his emotions shine the brightest when the topic of interest is a person he cares about.
This is ESPECIALLY shown in the election arc where he reveals much of his emotions to the audience. He gets two whole bloodlust scenes this arc.
Tumblr media
One with extreme anger
Tumblr media
and one with extreme joy.
When Hisoka provoked him, it took absolutely zero transition for him to immediately spike his bloodlust and aura to GREAT amounts to the point of engulfing the entire MOUNTAIN and reaching Killua from SO far away.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And in the same exact second it happened, it ended just as quickly the moment he noticed Killua running away. That is a CLASSIC negative mood swing example if I've ever seen one. One extreme emotion in one second, gone in the other.
On the other hand, his second bloodlust had a small transition, one that still did not give you the expectation of what truly came after.
He is seen watching Killua on his phone and the moment Nanika healed gon, showing Killua can use her on command with no consequences and also showing her immense power, he was absolutely overjoyed. So much in fact that he exploded in maniac laughter and aura a second after merely giving it a small laugh.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We get a hint at his bloodlust incoming in that moment, but NEVER predict just how MUCH would actually come out. Classic euphoric mood swing number two.
When he encountera Killua with Hisoka in the background at the end, he is pretty much shown going through the five stages of grief in mere minutes the moment his own butlers turn on him and allow Nanika to come out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
denial, anger, depression...
Tumblr media
bargaining.......
Tumblr media
and finally, acceptance. acceptance that he was going to be traded by killua not only for a friend, but for the rest of the family's lives.
He was so very clearly unhappy about it at the beginning, yet came to acceptance in mere seconds the moment nanika came out. He bargained with himself, Killua shouldnt be able to wish twice, then accepted. even if he could, thats okay. go ahead, kill me!
and then theres also the way he just switches from a very :DDD to >:| mood in like one panel short hello he is so coded
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even more; Usually bpd is either caused through trauma or inherited. and you can definitely argue that illumi went through enough "training" for the former but. is his behavior not. familiar to yall. not at all???? im just saying......... I know someone else in the zoldyck family that has intense mood swings!
Tumblr media
if there is one person in the family that shows their unfiltered emotions and switches from being calm to screaming in distress in a single second, its going to be this woman. she gave birth to a son thats a literal copy of her. she ctrl c'd and ctrl v'd.
and i dont exactly know what this next one has to do with the thread but why was bro normal for one second then turned into this i mean im not complaining hes still hot and ill claim him as my bpd son regardless
Tumblr media
anyways yes this was the thread have fun with this interpretation slash analysis however u like 👍

Opinions and analysis of Illumi Zoldyck
Does he feel emotions, feelings and sensations?
A popular opinion in HxH community is that Illumi doesn’t feel any emotion because, as he says, in the Zoldyck family they are raised only as killing machines (even if they have other roles too: Illumi has an educational and training role and Killua is designed to be the future patriarch of the Zoldycks), but in the story he actually has a different behaviour.
Let’s just concentrate on his actions, not only on his facial espressions and on what he says.
We know that sometimes Illumi gives his victims the possibility to ask for a last wish. We know it because of the guy in the Hunter exam, Illumi’s target, that asked him to let him fight Hisoka before dying and Illumi accepted his wish, letting him go (and letting him try to fight him until the guy was about to hit Hisoka). Hisoka than says that Illumi of course accepted his last wish and the other says that it’s true because he had pity of him.
So Illumi feels pity.
Next he says, during his transformation from Gittarackur to his real appearance, that isn’t a nice sensation, but he’s glad Hisoka is enjoying it.
So he can actually feel discomfort and feeling glad that other people enjoy something about him.
He is proud of his brother reaching the last part of his exam and feeling annoyed because of his willingness to be with Gon instead of him and the family.
He can feel proud and annoyance.
He thinks that Hisoka is fully trustworthy or wouldn’t explain him the secret of Nanika (something that Zoldycks don’t want people to know outside the family) and, even if his family says Illumi never works with others, before doing anything on his own he usually asks Hisoka for help.
So Illumi feels trustful towards Hisoka.
He gets really angry when Killua doesn’t obey him because he thinks he’s doing the right thing to protect everyone in his family.
Illumi feels even anger.
And when Hisoka does his joke (joke? 🤨) about you-know Killua Illumi basically explodes in a homicidal rage and is about to kill Hisoka instantly.
So he has problems to control his emotions sometimes (angry issues?) and his homicidal instincts. He even cares a lot about Killua.
This is another point. Illumi acts against Killua, true, but because he thinks that what he’s doing is the best thing for Killua and the family. Even Bisky said that Illumi loves his younger brother a lot, a sick and perverse love, but still love.
Illumi even feels love.
That’s why i think that Illumi can actually feel anything like a normal person, but since he’s trained to be a machine has a tendency to not show emotions and ignore them if they goes against his goals and orders (but he still has problems to control anger when is about Killua) and experiences his emotions in an atypical way compared to ordinary people.
Anyway, that was my analysis and thank you for reading! I wish you all a nice day!

Why I find Chrollo Lucilfer more terrifying than most antagonists:
Young Chrollo has a creepy resemblance to Kurapika. Chrollo was driven by the goal of hunting down and killing the people who murdered his childhood friend. But he grew up to be one of the worst criminals of all.
Chrollo is a really confusing and unsettling character to me. Most vilains are portrayed as nothing more than a monster, incapable of feeling empathy for anyone. Or they are simply an insane madman. It would be easier to understand why he does all these abominable things if he was heartless and insane. But he seems very much sane and perfectly in control of his horrible actions. He is shown to care for his friends, he cries when he looses them. Yet, again and again he chooses to rip hundreds of lives apart, knowing exactly how it feels to be on the other end. This is what makes him the most terrifying to me.

Togashi planned different endings for HxH.
The fourth one surprised people.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Recently, there have been news regarding Togashi on his health and what would become of HxH in the near future, so he wrote his answers on a talk show for an interview. From the small leaks and sneak peeks that people were able to gather and collect from the ongoing interview, we got to know a bit more about Togashi’s thought process as well as what he had planned for some scenes to go about but later changed.
These sneak peeks and leaks were later translated by these same fans and got shown on Reddit. You can find some of the translated questions and answers HERE!
But while this was going on, what really caught the fans’ attention about this interview (that we got of for now), were the possible endings Togashi had in mind. Since his health and back weren’t doing so good, Togashi figured he could at least give us some information on the possible endings of HxH he had planned. Of course, his answer was in Japanese but thankfully, some fans (like @pewpiece on Twitter) were able to take some parts and pieces of the explanation and translate it for us.
Tumblr media
This is what Togashi said:
Tumblr media
According to what the translation is saying, Togashi has planned THREE possible endings for HxH and has also estimated how good the ending would impact the fans.
Ending A (the first one), seems to look rather fine. This ending is deemed to be satisfactory by 50% and unsatisfactory by 20%.
Ending B (the second one), looks like it’ll have an equally mixed reaction. This ending is deemed to be satisfactory by 50% and unsatisfactory by 50%.
Ending C (the third one), looks like it’ll have the worst reactions between them all. This ending is deemed to be satisfactory by only 10% and extremely unsatisfactory by 90%. (Ending C is very likely that it’ll receive negative remarks but Togashi kept that one possible ending around because he personally liked it.)
Despite the fact that he had made three ending possibilities for HxH, he still plans on keeping them on the side to think about a bigger ending that could be better and bigger than the three he had made up: “I want to think to the utmost extent about an ending to the point where I might not choose any of these three and create what I find most enjoyable, which is my ideal and goal.” -Togashi on paragraph 2.
He also mentioned, however, that if he doesn’t find a better ending than these three before his time runs out, he’ll resort using the fourth ending as the true ending.
Yes, there’s a fourth ending that he hasn’t estimated the satisfactory and unsatisfactory rate of. Apparently, he had planned a fourth ending but scrapped it. It’s called the “Ending D” (or the fourth ending) and was the reason why people are starting to talk about this interview (at least from my end).
Curiously, Ending D was the one that had been talked about more by Togashi. Since he didn’t give any estimation on the satisfactory and unsatisfactory rate, he decided to tell us a bit on what it would be about.
To summarize it, here’s what it’s about:
Gon ends up marrying Noko, the only other kid on Whale Island, and they end up having kids. Now, Gon and Noko are grandparents and we get introduced to their granddaughter named Jin who was currently following the Freecss tradition: taking out the Lake Lord fish and share it with the other Whale Island residents. She ends up catching the fish and proudly goes up to her mother to tell her that she will not leave the island to become a hunter (insinuating that this must be a requirement once you capture the Lake Lord fish) and she’d rather stay here to inherit her parents’ place instead. Jin then goes to the shop from Mito’s days to cut up the fish all while thinking about how her mother will never understand how she’s saddened by the fact that being a hunter meant making the people that you love worry for you. Jin complains about how grandpa Gon is unaware of how his hunter stories make grandma Noko sad which is why Jin has decided that she’ll never become a hunter. Then, just as she had finished thinking about her resolve, a chubby little boy (holding a plant for some reason) enters the shop to which Jin seems to act very comfortable with. She tells him that she had caught the Lake Lord fish and they are both happy as they begin cooking it together.
This ending is odd because of three major key points.
1) This ending sounds way too much like a shonen anime ending where it’s a childhood love story like so many main pairings have gone through in the past. Plenty of people would be complaining (and even stating) that this ending is fake since Togashi would never write something this basic but you have to understand that he DID write something like this back when he was working on his old work Yu Yu Hakusho. The main character Yusuke returns after his adventures to get married to his childhood friend Keiko.
2) The way Togashi worded the ending at the end of it.
“The son of one of them, the daughter of another, and the grandchild of another live in different places, exchanging smiles. They might be the children of that character and the grandchildren of that character.” - last paragraph
This specific chunk of paragraph sounds a bit confusing at first read since Togashi doesn’t name any of these people and doesn’t address or clarify who is who. All we know, is that the “children of that character” and “the grandchildren of that character” is Gon when Togashi says “that character” since it has been established that his granddaughter Jin, the little boy with the plant, and the two kids’ parents are aware of who Gon is. However, we get confused yet again once it says “the son of one of them” and “the daughter of another” implying that “one of them” and “another” is not just Gon. This all seems a bit confusing but Togashi does have a habit of remaining ambiguous and vague when he explains in interviews.
3) The last line of the translation ends with “In the background, a figure watches the scene.” Who’s the figure you ask? No one knows.
Nonetheless, what we do know now, is that Ending D should NOT be ignored.
Many fans have already concluded that it shouldn’t be taken seriously because Togashi ‘scrapped’ it out but you have to understand that he had kept it around and WILL use it if time runs out for him and he doesn’t manage to find a better ending than the three he already has.
This is why the Ending D, also known as the fourth ending, should also be known as the default ending.
So if Togashi can’t continue anymore, this could be the true ending for HxH.
Keep in mind that this is Gon’s ending too.
We have no idea what he has in store for Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio not to mention Hisoka and the Phantom Troupe.
———————————————————————
Btw I can’t believe I’m seeing this cuz I once talked about Noko like two years ago and said how I wished that she could have more scenes or anything remotely interesting about her AND NOW WE GET THIS!!!?!! Damn.
this is the post I was talking about her if ur wondering.
I’m sure other ppl must’ve wondered about her too at some point cuz why would Togashi include the fact that she’s also the only other kid on Whale Island if ur not gonna do anything about that fact???

Thinking about how Killua means "lightning"
Thinking about how Killua also means "big brother who loves his little sister"
Thinking about how, after locking his little sister away and burning him with lightning, they nickname him Kil
Thinking about how Kil means "cut"
Thinking about how Kil means "behead"
Thinking about how Kil means "cold"
Thinking about how he became all of those things, embodying the title he had been given
Thinking about how he immediately went back to Killua during the exam
Thinking about how Gon means "friendly"
Thinking about how he met Gon and decided he didn't have to be cold and behead anymore
Thinking about how he decided he could be lightning, how he could love his sister
Thinking about how he finally knew it was okay
And then thinking about how he had to go back home after finally knowing what it's like to be safe

"ENGAGEMENT RING" WAS NOT SOME WAYWARD TRANSLATION BUT AN ACTUAL LINE IN THE JP MANGA?????? I always thought the reason some translations said, "engagement (ring)," where others used, "prenup," for Illumi and Hisoka's contract was because it was one translator's whim to cause chaos???? Like. It could be read as either of those, but was not necessarily the whole definition.
Tumblr media
(x)
But no, I've input the kanji into every translator I could find and they all said roughly the same thing—prenuptial contract. Meanwhile, the furigana (AKA the reading aid consisting of smaller kana printed either above or next to kanji or other characters to indicate their pronunciation), spelled out engagement ring.
I know this might be old news to some but I was today years old when I found out it was so literal????? Togashi really spelled it out in a way ensures we can't misunderstand yet somehow the implications still fly over a few people's heads???????
Idk about y'all but if I was an assassin born and raised on the ideology that an assassin does not need friends and some powerful magician mf just dallies around, telling every person he fights that he's my friend—I'd have killed him by now. I wouldn't trust him with my family secrets. I wouldn't do him any favors.
Or if I was a power-hungry fighter always striving to grow stronger, who grew up in the literal slums and betrays people left and right, I wouldn't put my trust on this pretty assassin either. Even if it's all just manipulations in the end, I wouldn't have any reason to call him, and only him, a friend. I wouldn't give him many, if not all, of my earthly possessions if I were to pass away—even if he isn't the one to kill me.
That's the thing about the contract too, Illumi gets his, "engagement ring," regardless of who kills Hisoka. Illumi's insured, whatever the outcome of this fight may be, so long as Hisoka dies. The funny thing about prenups is it could also be treated as a will of sorts—should one person die, I think it's more commonplace for prenups to include that all valuable assets be given to the widow by default??
Hisoka really did not need to do that, in order to hire Illumi???? Does this mean Hisoka knows and accepts the inevitability of his death on the Black Whale??? Or did his touch with death after fighting Chrollo open his eyes to the fact that he still needed a beneficiary, someone to take his belongings when he dies???? Either way, it's telling that he chose Illumi, of all people, to uphold this extremely important contract...
Anyways. Whether you wanna acknowledge it or not, Hisoka and Illumi have grown to become a pair in the Hunter X Hunter universe, have become the most unlikely, if not terrifying, friends and while the, "engagement ring," or the, "prenup," may not be explicitly romantic, the connotations and the possibilities are still there.
In conclusion, these insane mfs are gay and married, good for them!! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈

Thinking about how at its core HxH is about Gon learning that the world isn't kind. That no matter how much he talks to people and no matter how much kindness and stubbornness he shows there are people he can't reason with and cruelty he can't get rid of how that crushes him.
There are so many kind people he meets and so many people he befriends despite all odds but at the end of the day, does that undo the damage and hurt of people he can't befriend?
He wants to believe there's kindness at the heart of even the worst people, and he's not ready to deal with the reality that that's not the case. He's given so much benefit of the doubt and eventually he has to confront that in some cases it was all for nothing.

hxh spoilers below :)
can we discuss how miserable killua (probably) is after leaving gon? even despise having a will to live for himself and gaining his sisters back
he broke out of a severely co-dependent relationship, with literally no long term goals, no one to blame, and years and YEARS of unresolved trauma. and thats not even bringing up the guilt still resting after the chimera ants, not being able to save gon and having to see him like that? yikes all the way
breaking out of a co-dependant relationship is painful, i think its the worst. gon was actually his everything, his light, for 2-3 years straight. this is after having nothing at all, nd now he has to leave that to b healthy. even js that knowledge is horrible, the one thing u want is whats bad for u? oh my god
killua also has nothing to look foward to, he has nanika and alluka, but thats so short term is it not? ☹️ hes 14-15 he has his entire life still waiting to be lived, what the hell is he gonna do.
and touching on the no one to blame, he has been shown to internalize a lot of faults even if they arent even within his control. he KNOWS its for the better to leave gon, but what do u think he thinks gons reason is? is he going to be logical and understand gons in the same boat, or is he going to stay stuck in this mindset that hes not enough and thats why gon allowed him to leave. i think the ladder is definitely more likely.
i dont think i need to comment on the trauma, but i will anyways :3 how is he gonna resolve this, he did a bit by proving he is capable of not only being loved but also just the action of loving someone. he also broke out of illumis control, huge step, but theres so much more. how is he gonna resolve this? this was an issue whether he was with or without gon, he does have his sisters to help luckily but yk its gonna b painful without ur best friend by ur side :/
and oh my god the guilt over gon overall, killua made it his like, life mission to protect gon, or else he deemed himself useless. then gon not only almost fucking dies, he looses his nen. of course guilt is gonna b an issue. but then they separate, oh god is killua gonna be worried. both gon and killua have made a lot of development, but theyre both still going to go back to the habits they had while they were together, thats why its so detrimental that they separate! healing is just as, if not more painful than being in that situation in the first place for killua. he has to deal with the worry over gons safety as well as push through instead of protecting him, because he cant.
i just hope we can see gon and killua together again, but healthier. they really do need eachother, but not in a codependent way more in a, the stars only allign when theyre with one another if theyre apart everything is at risk of crumbling, way :)

how destiny's child emotion and killugon are post-separation parallels; a very, very long analysis i wrote in 2h
hi! im danaë, an autistic person which sp-in is psychology and hxh, mainly killugon. i spent two hours yesterday writing about this topic instead of sleeping so enjoy it lol
WARNING!! if you didn't notice THEY'RE LOVE INTERESTS. this text isn't killugon-free, im proud of it AND im blocking everyone that cries about them being only besties. respectfully, no. thank you. (also, english isn't my first language. sorry for any eventual spelling mistakes!)
right on the first verse we hear "it's over and done / but the heartache lives on the inside / and who are you clinging to instead of me tonight?". this could apply to both gon and killua.
gon & "and who are you clinging to instead of me tonight?". killua left with alluka, he has someone to care about and protect. he has company. gon isn't the type to be jealous of a little girl (really, people need to wake up about it. he isn't), but he IS the type to be sad about not being cared even if he denies it. he's a kid; every kid likes to feel protected.
but the thing is, killua isn't happy about it neither. even if he loves to protect alluka, it's different. he loves her, of course, but there's the lack of the warmth of being mutually cared because gon ALSO cared about his well-being (and im fighting everyone who says he didn't). im not saying alluka won't care for killua, but she'll care like a little sister does, not how someone that love you romantically does — and that's good because killua would NOT be able to make it if anyone tried to be the tiniest bit of what gon was when they parted ways.
and then comes this: "and where are you now? / now that I need you? / tears on my pillow / wherever you go, go". oh, dude. this is so killugon i feel ashamed of trying to explain to hxh community /hj
they both were constantly hurting from being away, even though this was the best for them at the time. they wanted each other to be near, wanted and needed, but they couldn't. there is this thin and fragile veil of deep sorrow that would make them get so attached to the other that would be more sickening than the sadness of losing their "other piece" for a while. it's more worth crying over memories than losing their mind from being deadly (metaphorically and literally) codependent.
this links to the next phrase: "i'll cry me a river that leads to your ocean". crying alone is more safe than being next to each other. they'll cry over memories, as i said, and they'll cry about distance and they'll cry over everything that could've been different. they'll find the other in their tears, the hugs will come out of the bittersweet sorrow they carry around, but they'll be separated. they can cry rivers that lead to a valley of what it was and what could've been, but it'll be all. the sadness won't make them be together again.
there comes killua part: "you'll never see me fall apart". he needs to be the big brother now. he need to be alluka's point of safety so he can assure their existence, and for this killua needs to be strong as a rock, he needs alluka to look at him and think she can trust him with anything. he's the big brother, isn't he? emotions about a past that doesn't belong to him anymore aren't going to help with surviving. but he does break silently, while he is trying to sleep ("tears on my pillow"), when something looks to much like a typically gon thing, when memories crawl in. he's just a fragile boy needing to use the super strong hero facade again.
the first part of the next verse is "in the words of a broken heart / it's just emotions taking me over / caught up in sorrow, lost in the song / but if you don't come back / come home to me, darling". this is suffering. both of them are heartbroken, left "alone" to face worlds they feel they don't belong to anymore, wanting their partner in crime to make things less insufferable. they remember the other on daily little things — a song, a quote, a smell. but killua never comes to visit and gon isn't able to do it either — there's no home left besides each other's hearts, and they live there rent-free even if it hurts like hell. memories hurt, the past is like glass and salt being poured into an open wound to later be mixed with alcohol, but they aren't able to say goodbye to it because saying goodbye to the pain is like saying goodbye to the last tangible thing they've from each other — ironically, the pain of being separated —, and the last thing they want is to say goodbye again so they hold it close to their hearts like a trophy.
but as if they're bargaining, here comes "don't you know there's nobody left in this world to hold me tight? / and don't you know there's nobody left in this world kiss goodnight?". there's people, but there's nothing of what they need. they need someone that knows how to make them feel safe, loved, safe — nor alluka or mito can do this for neither gon or killua the way they need it to be done. they try to, but they can't because the type of sadness they're carrying is exclusively from a love that never had a true end; they parted ways, but never stopped loving each other even if their trust was a little bit weaker, and carrying a love that is technically in open hurts so much that no one can try to mimic how it was. a tight hug from mito or alluka won't be the same of a silly headpat from killua or a bright smile from gon because isn't about the act but who's doing it.
and then we've the last verse before the music repeats itself, that i truly believe that wraps up everything in killugon's love story: "i'm there at your side / a part of all the things you are / but you got a part of someone else / you gotta go find your shining star".
gon wanted to find ging and be back at whale's island; killua had to protect alluka. they felt so much love, but they had other people in their lives too that needed to be looked over. even if their story is forever intertwined at some point, both of them are mix of a lot of people and have small amounts of them inside themselves. this is what makes it a tiny little bit easier to go through not having each other near: other people. the tiny pieces of every person they've ever met that created their personality and their new horizons are what eventually make them heal from all the suffering and sorrow and finally be able to reunite again, friendship strong and a love so healthy like a daisy that just blossomed.
they're forever in love. the distance and the sadness was necessary for them to see that things can be hard to handle alone, but they're never alone as they have other people that care for them deeply and are willing to see them fully happy — just as in emotion's music video. when they learn to be complete by themselves, they can multiply together and form a relationship that adds up, not that is dangerously subtracting their mental health. they deserve to love each other when they're ready. ♡
end of the analysis. thx for reading this bible i wrote in 2h lol

hxh theory: is feitan a p3d0phile?
tw's: mentions of l0l1c0n, paraphilia, p3d0philia, sadism and torture because its fucking feitan, cp (debatable if you consider l0l1c0n cp), mentions of problematic hxh ships such as feitan x kalluto and hisoka x gon
just a note: before you come at me with your pitchforks leaving hate in my asks and dms, i am not a fan of l0l1c0n nor am i trying to defend it, this post is a simple theory i have gathered by evidence in the manga, no one is saying that you should believe this theory, it's more of a "do with this information what you will" kind of thing.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
so, you may be reading this title and you're thinking "what the actual fuck?" and you probably believe that i pulled this straight out of the deepest parts of my ass, but what if i told you i had some plausible evidence for this theory?
so, for starters, this thought actually came to me when i was reading a post by a user on here named @/cautionworks (i'm not going to tag them here because i don't know them nor do i want to seem like a bother) who made a post relating to their favorite ships (warning as the post does contain problematic ships such as hisogon and such, not saying in particular im against the ship, im just giving out a warning to anyone who is triggered by minor x adult ships) and there was a ship listed as feitan x kalluto.
in the passage it mentions that they found out that feitan may be into l0l1, which at first thought was a bit strange but once you think about it more, the concept isn't the most absurd for someone like him.
i haven't seen anyone actually talk about feitan possibly being into l0l1c0n, much less being a p3do, probably because of the anti's in the fandom.
so, lets get on with the actual evidence!
in the yorknew city arc, after he was done torturing the owl, he is seen reading a book by an author named trevor brown, and as stated on his hunterpedia page, trevor is a controversial artist who's work involves paraphilia; atypical sexual urges.
according to trevor's wikipedia page, "His work explores paraphilias, such as lolicon, ero guro, BDSM, and other fetish themes. Innocence, violence, misogyny, and Japanese popular culture all collide in Brown's art."
Tumblr media
there is also a reddit post relating to this topic as well, and according to said post the topic was popular on tik tok at a certain period in time (not very important but i thought it was kind of interesting since im a tik tok user and content creator kind of)
so, does this make feitan a p3d0phile? i can see why people would think so, and i can also see why people wouldn't.
why i would is simple; trevor brown's art speaks for itself, the usage of fictional little girls in... lets just say, VERY interesting situations would make one assume off rip that feitan may be a p3d0phile, or at least a l0l1con, not to mention, togashi isn't afraid of making a character like this especially since we have hisoka (not saying hisoka is a p3d0, but many do, and im just trying to prove a point and give an example as to why the concept of feitan being a p3d0 isn't something completely out of the ordinary, hxh does get pretty dark after all).
why i wouldn't: i've seen some arguments that feitan may not hold the same views as trevor despite him doing some questionable things, similar to how people may like a certain character or even person in real life but not agree with everything they say or do, not to mention he doesn't seem to act weird or overly charming with kids like hisoka, he certainly isn't afraid to hurt or torture one (gon) but theres no actual implications outside of him reading this book by a controversial artist that he is sexually attracted to them.
but in my personal opinion, unless specified by togashi himself, or given any more details about how he feels about such things i wouldn't go as far as to call feitan a p3d0 just because he's seen reading a book by someone known to create l0l1 art, hell, he might be reading a book that doesn't include anything relating to p3d0philia, since the cover art isn't explicitly shown.

Kalluto wants to become the next Zoldyck family leader
Remember this panel?
Tumblr media
When Kalluto said this, Alluka is still at home and had never left. Most likely he's talking about Killua.
But how does joining the spider helps bring back Killua exactly?
Well, this is probably Kalluto's train of thoughts:
Killua made it no secret that the reason he left is because he doesn't want to be the next family leader.
So, what would be the best way to bring Killua back? By taking on the responsibility himself!
My guess is, Kalluto wants to quickly rise in ranks within Phantom Troupe (who Silva acknowledge as powerful) and prove to Silva that he was just as capable of Killua to become the family leader.
Tumblr media
That way, Silva will choose Kalluto as the heir and Killua would be willing to come back home.
The plan seems so simple, but keep in mind the boy is only like, 10 years old.
This theory makes me really sad to be honest, it seems Kalluto loves Killua unconditionally but Killua didn't even notice him. I mean, just look at the relationship chart, there wasn't even a line between Kalluto and Killua.
Tumblr media
I hope they interact soon.

According to shalnark, manipulators are EXTREMELY VULNERABLE without their preferred weapon of choice, as they cannot use their nen abilities at all without it. As I quote, "Losing the preferred weapon is often FATAL"
Tumblr media
THEN WHY.
WHY.
Tumblr media
WHY???????????????????
Tumblr media
THE ONE TIME ILLUMI DOESNT HAVE ANY PINS ON HIM. HIS PREFERRED WEAPON OF CHOICE. THAT AS A MANIPULATOR HE SHOULD NEVER GO ANYWHERE WITHOUT. IS WHEN HE GOES ON A PRIVATE DATE WITH HISOKA.
HES COMPLETELY VULNERABLE. ZERO PINS. DO YOU REALIZE. DO YOU REALIZE!!!!!!!????!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?

(hxh and jjk spoilers ahead)
I can see the similarities, from their appearance (hair, eyes -in the scene where Chrollo is reading his fortune and his eyes illuminate purple, their earrings) but most importantly their character. Obviously I wouldn't go above and beyond stating they are identical but their deterministic and nihilistic approach to life is intriguing. Murderers, but for the "wrong" reasons, Chrollo to avenge his old friend, the Troupe being the only piece of identity he ever had and Suguru to find purpose, purpose in living in a way that doesn't consume and burden him. They both have people they care for but ultimately have selfish motives- to find themselves and understand the meaning of life, void from any emotions. Suguru kills a whole village, parents included with no remorse to save the 2 wronged girls and fulfill his promise to himself, an idea about exterminating the majority of the population, which I think he knows is logistically improbable, like Satoru reminds him in the KFC scene. Chrollo mutilates and brutally murders Kurapika's clan, his members leaving a vague note about revenge. Both growing up without much support really, in Meteor city, a literal junkyard and a random village with non sorcerers in a non sorcerer family. Both misunderstood and going through life without a reason. Chrollo finds that in the Troupe, Geto in killing the cause of his decline- the non sorcerers. They don't really hold much value over their lives either, Chrollo showing familiarity with death in his heartbeat, Suguru smiling and accepting his death, almost as if having expected his plan to fail him and calculating the time, after all it wasnt about his success but his liberation. Suguru didn't care really, he had his mind set on finding purpose, the way Chrollo did when creating the Troupe and caring deeply for them. Of course the incentives in each massacre differ- so one can't really justify either, but the point remains, that these two have come out of situations unscathed (or maybe not really) because ultimately they don't see a meaning in humans. Humans are very interesting, Chrollo remarks. I hate these monkeys are Suguru's words. Both stoically alienated from their surroundings.

List of ✨directorial decisions✨ HxH 1999 is insane for (hunter exam edition):
Episode 1:
- Baby Gon Baby Gon Baby Gon (and Konta)
- okay this is in-line with the manga but still: Mito hates Ging so much that she first lied about Gon’s parents dying in a car crash, then retracted that and told Gon to his face that Ging abandoned him, then admitted at the end of the episode that she forced Ging into a custody battle which. Is objectively the strangest scenario I can imagine.
Episode 2:
- Leorio stops Gon from getting kidnapped (by someone implied to be a child tr*fficker) in episode 2 like HWAT?
- Holy shit the knife he uses during the hunter exam is the same one he took from the kidnapper wow
- Also Gon then spends the rest of the episode following him around and being a Disney Princess so like. Good for him.
- Kurapika is just hanging around most of the episode giving off Main Character Vibes and nothing else.
Episode 3:
- 1999 Kurapika design is just *chef’s kiss*
- Seeing Kurapika now as opposed to Yorknew and Dark Continent hits me like a truck
Episode 4:
- Nothing much this episode except Kurapika adopting Gon and being so passive aggressive it’s funny
- Leorio threatening to beat up/kill an old women is… off putting
- They named the eavesdropper “Matthew” and made him even more of a douche.
Episode 5:
- I’m still confused about the needle mark lol. Like how did Leorio see it under all that fur? At least this version gives him more to do during the Kiriko escapade.
- Alright the fist bump between Kurapika and Leorio is cute
Episode 6:
- Killugon height difference my beloved
- KILLUA’S TINY SHORTS
- Gon asks Killua’s name and age first, when in the manga it was vice versa
- Hisoka having a high, playful voice as opposed to his usual moan-tone is strange to say the least
- Tonpa is even uglier than usual
Episode 7:
- Not only is 1999 pushing the gay agenda it is also pushing the Leorio agenda.
- Killua brought bombs to exam because why wouldn’t he
- “Kurapika would you stop looking at me like that”
Episode 8:
- *People getting brutally slaughtered by wildlife*
Kurapika: My goodness
- Hisoka’s first murder spree <3
Episode 9:
- One thing I do appreciate about the 1999 version is the additional focus on the side characters. Comedy like that between Hanzo and Pokkle during the Second Phase helps the world feel more alive and the characters more engaging.
- Hisoka catching fish.png
- Not Killua and Hisoka making the same dish 😭 Hisoka pouting by the river also deserves a mention
Episode 10:
- Gon is so nice like wow.
- I like Menchi! High-strung cooks are pretty normal from what I understand.
Episode 11:
- Tonpa continues to be an annoying dick, though he’s more useless than anything.
- Gon and Killua bonding!
- Killua is such a cocky little shit and Gon is polite even when making trouble and I love that for them
- The girl with a grudge against the Zoldycks is just. Laughable compared to what we know about them later. She’s lucky she ran into Killua out of the bunch.
Episode 12:
- Gon is straightforward and mischievous. Killua is calculating but cocky. It’s a great dynamic that evolves with the show.
- Idk if this is controversial or not but like,, Killua’s assassin mode is cool. Despite the history that comes with it. I like slightly unhinged!Killua a bit more even if soft!Killua is most people’s favorite.
- I love Gon’s hair physics in 1999. IMO It’s too tall in 2011 (most of the time) but 1999 has a nice balance of springyness and length.
- Killua’s character art is so good. I’m in love with the soft spikiness
- Ah yes, the Hunter exam. The time where Gon’s tendency to push himself to the absolute limit in order to demonstrate his worth as a person was just rearing its head and not as utterly self-destructive as it would later become.
- Not Kurapika throwing Leorio under the bus (Menchi) 💀✋
Episode 13:
- Trick Tower my beloathed. On one hand, character interactions and cute dynamics (Kurapika pushing Leorio). On the other, Tonpa and Leorio’s challenge with the prisoners.
- The expressions when Tonpa surrenders 😭
- “Gon is a sociopath” “Hisoka is a psychopath” incorrect and tired. TONPA is fucking crazy like Jesus Christ have you heard this guy monologue?
- Everytime I watch the manacles drop from the prisoner’s hands I always wonder how they avoid their toes being smushed
Episode 14:
- The candle trick challenge always cracks me up. Kurapika and Killua supporting Gon’s decision until they hear his reasoning 💀
- The sound effects they use for character movements KILLS ME. When Majitani cracks his knuckles it’s like a pile of rocks falling down. When he flexed it’s like rubber. I hate it sm even if I love everything else.
- The Scarlet Eyes in 1999 are the shit fr
- Cuarpickt’s ethics strike back
Episode 15:
- Leorio doing cool shit 😳
- “Kurapika, I’ve dealt with the consequences of your pride.” “Leorio…” PLEASE
- Hisoka and Illumi playing cards 😈
- Another shout-out for the little character interactions in 1999, I love them sm
Episode 16:
- Leorio doing uncool shit
- I don’t wanna talk about it
- I will say I like her design a lot better than 2011
- Killua taking the serial killer’s heart here is objectively cooler
Episode 17:
- I LOVE THE TRICK TOWER MONTAGE LMAO
- It’s amazing how much I want to fucking kill Tonpa. Exquisite feelings of hatred.
- Gon suggesting breaking through the wall is like. Defining character moment to me.
- RIP to Killua’s skateboard :(
- Kurapika’s fondness for Gon in this arc is so underrated
Episode 18, 19, & 20:
- YAS BEST FILLER ARC
- So many good character interactions. So many.
- ENGLAND IS CONFIRMED TO EXIST IN HXH?!!
- The ICONIC “what is going on in this hunter x hunter clip” response comment is from these episodes
- Illumi just indulges himself as Gittarackur huh
- The Kurta artifact :(
- LEOPIKA AGENDA IS REAL
- Gon and Killua put their beds together like a sleepover 😭
- Killua head pat Gon (also the ass smack in Heaven’s Arena… I think he’s just more physically affectionate in this version).
- Everyone working together really makes the next phase hit worse/better.
- My god even TONPA got something to do
- The music here was so good. Not that it usually isnt, but like wow
- LEOPIKA AGENDA IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE. Kurapika refuses to give the order to move despite everyone relying on him because he can’t bring himself to leave Leorio. Like holy shit the bait is real.
- POKKLE AND PONZU WERE SO GOOD 😭
- Captain Kurapika!
- Leorio and Gon take turns being unconscious and saving each other
- Not Killua lIterally SENSING Gon coming back up 😭
- Hisoka and Illumi stand around being useless for most of Phase 3.5 which is hilarious but ultimately save the day. I wonder if Illumi took his needles out as a teaser for manga readers or if he just. Couldn’t see well with them in.
Episode 21:
- Zevil Island time YIKES
- The second the announcement is made Hisoka already has murder in his eyes
- The sheer hatred between Leorio and Tonpa kills me
- Gon drew smiley faces on all of his practice dummies 😢
- He covered the hooks on the fishing rod so he wouldn’t hurt the birds 😭 I love him sm
- PLEASE HE HAS A LITTLE NIGHTLIGHT. I WANT TO ADOPT HIM SO BADLY
Episode 22:
- The only time the rubber skin sfx work for me is when Illumi is taking out his needles
- Alright I may get burned at the stake but I personally love the dub voices for everyone except Gon. Which is really sad, because if his voice sounded anything remotely similar to how it did in both 1999 and 2011 subbed (and maybe 2011 dubbed, though that’s a stretch) I would definitely watch 1999 dubbed all the way through.
- Illumi’s outfit and color scheme is kinda fire though.
Episode 23:
- Kurapika and Leorio fucking around on the forest floor
- Hisoka’s bloodlust run SENDS me
- Who else but Kurapika would negotiate with Hisoka on his own terms?
- The amazing soundtrack strikes again. I get chills when he begins to finally unsheathe his blades. Also Leorio pulling his out of his pocket like it’s gonna be a fucking knife fight lmao
- Hisoka practically creaming his pants while Gon is Right There is nothing new, but uh. This is first instance of it in the show so it deserves a mention.
- Bit of a rant here about Gon and HxH in relation to other shounen: https://bit.ly/3phcBB5
- I remember the Hisoka murder run being so terrifying as a kid 😭
- God Hisoka smiling at Gon after Gon took his badge is just so… eugh.
- Gon got the Leorio Uppercut Special. Talk about humiliating.
- Not the slurping noise when he licks the blood 🤢
Episode 24:
- Just an episode of Gon trying to recover after having his confidence broken. They didn’t shy away from the aftermath, which I’m grateful for. Really shows how much it damaged his pride and affected him. Gon has to think about why he came here, deal with homesickness amongst the most challenging days of his life, and somehow nurse himself back to health while barely being able to move.
- On another note: Baby Gon!
- Killua being adorable
- THE EXPRESSION ART ON HANZO LMAO
- Actually 1999 Hanzo is great I was so disappointed to see what he was in comparison in 2011
Episode 25:
- Gon’s absolute zero self-worth manifesting as a “I need to overcompensate when I’ve fucked up or else I’m worth nothing” rearing it’s head in the form of poisonous reptiles 💀
- Why tf Kurapika and Leorio always staring at each other like yeah Leopika agenda but also chill tf out
- I still wanna know how tf Gon carried three whole ass adults by himself. How does he do his strength training.
Episode 26:
- HAHA I LOVE THIS PART
- Expression art in 1999 is another level. The reactions when they think they’ve figured it out as a written exam are so fucking funny
- Kurapika’s theme is so nice. It’s kind of lonely, but also comforting.
- Kurapika and Gon’s conversation about Zevil Island is such a good moment that helps define their relationship
- Hanzo, Pokkle and Leorio “studying”
- Idiot trio asking HISOKA of all people for help
- Are you joking 😭 Not Leopika watching Killua and Gon play together my god the found family is real
Episode 27:
- Kurapika v Hisoka is great
- Horror-soka face strikes again. I know I praised the expressions but Yikes
- Leorio went from pleading with Kurapika to lose so he wouldn’t have to face Hisoka to not caring about that and just worrying endlessly the entire match. I love him
- I fuck w/ Kurapika
- Gon jumps into Leorio’s arms when Kurapika wins like holy shit that’s adorable (and then Leorio puts him on his shoulders like what a dad moment)
- Ok so interestingly, after Kurapika wins, he admits to Leorio that he should have surrendered. When Gon prepared to face Hanzo, he says, “I have to follow Kurapika’s lead and become the second to pass.” This can mean two things: one, he simply wants to pass, similarly to Kurapika. And/or it could also mean he’ll follow Kurapika’s lead by refusing to give up despite the danger, focusing on the goal of passing the exam. There are so many parallels between them GOD. At this point I just want them to call each other in the manga and just Talk (I know it won’t happen but still 😭)
Episode 28:
- At the beginning of the match, the proctors (namely Menchi) make it a point to talk about how outmatched Gon is, yet within a minute they’re all cheering for him and yelling at Hanzo for taking things too far.
- The sheer brutality of this version tops 2011 100%. I don’t think it’s controversial to say that 2011 sped through the Hunter Exam, which is unfortunate since a lot of impact was lost. This fight was hit particularly hard by that.
- The lighting, the choreography, the direction. All of it was phenomenal here.
- “If he keeps going, he’ll destroy himself,” said Cuararpickt, king of the hypocrites
- Kurapika and Leorio worrying about Gon 😭 Not to mention Killua going feral next to them
- Zevil Island really was a serious blow to his pride. Gon lets himself get beat to shit so his opponent will acknowledge him as worthy. He’s desperate to be ‘seen’. I love him sm but he’s genuinely unhinged (and it only gets worse). Fuck Ging, man.
- Kurapika says as much a second later oops
- HANZO IS ONLY 18???
- Gon is so fucking funny I love him. “Um no thank you I don’t want my legs chopped off. Can we keep brainstorming?”
- So when Hanzo asks, “Why won’t you give up?” Gon says, “I’m looking for my dad. And I feel like if I give up now, I’ll never see him again.” This isn’t ‘Ging will get so far ahead I’ll never catch up.’ This is ‘If I give up now, I’ll never be able to face myself or Ging.’ He reminds me of me when I was 12 :/
Episode 29:
- Killua’s face at Leorio and Kurapika 💀
- It’s an interesting decision for Togashi to do the rest of the battles in recap. I suppose it speeds things up.
- Gon sensed what had happened Killua right before Satotz said it, similarly to how Killua sensed Gon during the Treasure/Battleship phase. 1999 really like that kind of stuff haha
- The lighting, again, is fantastic. This time for Killua v Gittarackur (Illumi).
- The organ music is certainly… something
- Illumi’s color scheme here is better than the greens imo
- I forgot how hard Illumi projects onto/abuses Killua. Its difficult to watch.
- The animation on Killua’s face is incredible. You can see every micro expression as he tries to stand his ground :(
- Very nice visual effect here. Killua’s eyes are somewhat teal and rather dark in this version, as opposed to the bright blue of 2011. When Illumi defeats him, black bleeds onto the screen and Killua’s eyes are so dark they match Illumi.
- Hikari Ga Mienai plays when Killua kills Bodero :(
- Gon confronting Illumi is just short of cathartic.
Episode 31:
- THE LEGENDARY FALL OF 99
- The Hunter Exam after party looks kind of fun tbh
- Illumi when Hisoka catches him trying to kill Gon: ⚫️ 👄 ⚫️
- When they search the internet Togashi seems to imply that ‘cyberspace’ is coming from a human brain directly? Or is at least powered by one?
- Leorio: Gon wants his dad? We’ll find his dad *starts typing furiously*
- *Hisoka does something weird* *Illumi looks straight faced into the camera*
- LEOPIKA 1999 AGENDA IS REAL
- the final scene made me think of that radio drama where Leorio was like “yes Kurapika and I are like newlyweds and Gon is our child”. Unreasonably wholesome
END OF ARC
In conclusion stan the producers for clear skin
