yknow I was originally planning on doing an animatic of reaper!hypno and xb, all dramatic and such, but with the way demise is currently going, I think I might do a reaper!joel and xb animatic instead. mainly because hypno hasn’t actually had too many dramatic moments with xb so far (only 1 trap, and a cool trap, but quite a passive one and they just talked casually afterwards), joel on the other hand is constantly trying to kill xb and is going insane over him whilst xb is completely unaffected and avoids traps easily and now I’m obsessed with them

Coin's Personal Paradigms!

Aka “How magic works to me.”

Yesterday I posted "Paradigm Time! - What is a Paradigm?", today I'm going to share some of mine! They are subject to change as my #1 paradigm is "magic is fluid" lol.

Keep in mind that these are personal paradigms and I am not claiming that they’re universal. My experience is likely different than yours.

Energy can be used from within yourself or from outside of yourself. While using your own energy will tire you out sooner, ultimately doing enough of either will be exhausting. Like, you can blow up a balloon with your lungs or you can use a pump. Of course, you’ll tire out quicker using your lungs, but eventually holding the pump will be tiring too.

Gods and spirits are not good or evil, they hold moral codes but unless you’re literally asking them what it is you won’t know. Just like anything, morality differs based on culture, time, and beliefs.

Gods and spirits are not ingredients and shouldn’t be treated as such, but they likely won’t be mad if you pray to them once or twice to help you with a spell. Need help getting to sleep? Pray to Hypnos, leave an offering maybe, he’s not gunna smite you just cuz you don’t always work together.

Energy is the battery of magic. Magic is the change caused by whatever you’re doing but energy is what powers that change, be it a spell, prayer, whatever.

There are different types of energy, or rather everything that has energy may feel a bit different. Kinda like how everyone has different fingerprints. Yours may look similar to another person’s but ultimately they’re different.

Thinking or focusing on your intent in your head is fine, writing it down is better, speaking it aloud is best. This could just be due to my ADHD but I almost always have to say my intent aloud otherwise I can’t actually focus on it. Either way, I have more success time and time again when I say things out loud vs thinking them.

Inanimate objects don’t have spirits, they may however have “essence”.

Plants, fungi, and mosses don’t have spirits in the same way that animals and humans do. It’s more like there is one overarching archetypal “Big Spirit” that holds power and all of the versions of that thing are tied to it. For example, I don’t think every sprig of basil has a spirit, but I do think that there is some sort of spirit-like entity that reigns over all basil, though it’s not sentient in a way that I could comprehend.

There are multiple planes of existence (though I don’t have a set amount nor am I sure I believe there is a set amount), they overlap often but none lay perfectly on top of another. Like legos and Lincoln logs. There are areas where they will fit together, but you can’t perfectly align them cuz they’re made out of different stuff.

Spoilers: ( I couldn't find much about hypnos children's powers so I hc they shadow travel since their father is In the underworld . )

The three of us had gotten into a fight them fighting about how much lack of sun I gotbhow little I was eating due to sleep while I had to scream back i couldn't help it, I'm a child of hypnos were naturally lazy and not bothered to do anything.

Soon nico joined myside being he understood the fact I can't controll my powers like clovis or another half-blood.

"You're both being idiots! Y/n I'm worried, I haven't seen you eat anything for 3 days!" Will argued. "Will, I can't...help it..." I mutter holding my head. Tears floored my eyes as nico was torn between agreeing either me or Will.

"Will mabey we calm down I heard from clovis stress can cause-" "nico you looking away from the facts, y/n hasn't been out much only for lessons in fact and been sleeping through meal times"

Soon will land nico started to fight and the world around me started to ring. My vision blinking in and out I purse my lips together my eyes teared up.

Before I had realised I had shadowed traveled to a random location on a bunch of rocks, i couldnt tell but i was exhausted. I had landed with a grunt and probably a few grazes but i didn't care. They had started arguing because of me. I hadn't been fighting againt my nature to sleep to see I hadn't cared for myself for...God's know how long!

I curl lean onto my knees shivering at the cold. In a few hours they will stop arguing I kept in mind. I inhail deep the earthly sent and clench my eyes. God's I with I had wore more layers to bed a tank top and joggers arnt going go help with the cold.

It was late,very late. The only thing I could do is sleep even if it would start an argument... I clench my eyes shut ignoring the frosty nips at my skin.

When I woke up I was in a dark cave, covered in many pillows and stuffed toys. "Hello...?" I question my voice sounding more mature. A yawn came from inside the cave before a voice echoed back: 'hello...?'

"Where are we?" I ask wearily, "y/n?" I stay quiet for a few seconds "yes...?"

Meanwhile will and nico had seen searching for hours with the while camp trying to find their runaway lover. They checked, zeus fist, and all the building per chions request. while perxy and annabeth along with Grover checked: the stables, blackjacks stable, and the west woods the others searched everywhere else.

"Will, what If something bad happens to her...?" Nico asked quietly wrapping himself in his coat. "Nothing bad will happen in the camps perimeters" will reassured, not only nuco but himself. The doctor had been terrified when he notified his partner had completely vanished leaving a fragment of sleeping dust on nico's bed.

By now chion had to call of the search for the sake of the campers needing rest for the next days activities,yet he encouraged the couple to find their third peice and excused them from their activities if they find them. When the cabins pasted by the ares cabin gave each official member off the Hermis cabin a coin before grumvelign back to their bunk.

Of course they had set bets, probably: 'who won find the stupid lost girl who vanished into thin air?'

Will stood up from the front porch of the big house beofre stating:"Nico, you stay here just incase y/n was just wondering about the woods and finds their way back" "but will I want to go with you, their not on best terms with you right now" nico argued back, it was extremly rare for them to argue.

After climbing zeus's fist will looked over the edge to see his partner there, he scurried over the side and over to them.

will grazed his cold lovers face, "oh my sweet dear" he whispers. Wills medical mode kicked in and he sat the sleeping girl upright checking the pulse and for any injuries, only grazed hand and a small graze on the cheek.

The only problem was hiw he was going to get y/n down without endangering them.

With y/n she ventured into the cave keeping to the wall. Excripting of a man with wings and winged brow was carved into them but the colour had faded. The architecture was something annabeth would admire and praise. "Who is it?" They question.

"Pity you dont recognise you're father" the voice echoed. A clearing has been made where a fluffy bed had been layed in the center with many more comforters around. God's how big was that bed? King sized? Queen? No emperor size. "Dad?" She echoed back picking up the pace. The figure was sat upright with a blanket around them. "My child" he smiles before yawning.

It was y/n first experience seeing their dad in 14 years so they ran up and jumped onto him. Hugging him tightly. Warm arms hugged around them "my sweet child" he smiled. The pale man had wiped their fourhead of their hair before cupping their face. "The first girl ive had in century's, yet I couldn't meet you the day I claimed you"

Hypnos looked sad and looked lost in thought looking down at his child. Their hair had streaks of white in like how his hair was white, their face and eyes resembled their mother whom he loved dearly. You had been a miracle at birth, he has been their before hades had summoned himcback to the underworld before he could officially claim you as his demi-child.

It still upset red him how he couldn't see how you grew: you're achievements, acimplishemnts and fears. He had missed it for 14 years.

"I dont care, better late the never" they sob into his robes. Hypnos looks at their multi hair before running a pale scrawny hand through it. The father and daughter sat in a comfy silence her arms never leaning his body clinging as if he'll disappear when they let go.

" I fear you must go now, what was his name..? Will, would want you to wake up now and nico is probably worried sick" he sighed. His daughter sat up and nodded. "I'm happy to finally meet you" they croak their voice back to its normal volume.

"I'll see you in a few nights" he whispers kissing their fourhead, and quickly the fell back against him beofre their body disappeared onto sleeping dust.

Will had walked back to camp half blood with his jacket around y/n, by now the sun had risen and campers were cleaning up for cabin inspections. he held her close to his chest arms wrapped around their knees and back proudly walkign pas tthe cabinsaking those outside pause and start to cheer..

" will,you found them!" Nico yelled nearly falling of the porch and running towards them. He placed a hand on their head before jolt back "might aswell caught the dead their so cold" nico removed his iconic jumper and draped it on to his female partner.

Will kicked through hades cabin open and placed y/n to rest on nicos bed as the cabin owner started up the green-ish blue flamed fire. "I'm so glad their ok" will sighed sitting on the bed next to them. Nico knelt of the floor and held his hand to their cheek tracing it gently along their jaw line.

"I tried to tell you stressing and scaring a hypnos kid can cause them to enter a state of distress and sleep as a form of defence"

"I'm sorry for cutting you off" Will sighed finally admitting the fact y/n still needed to learn to controll their powers.

"Hmm...? Nico what's going on?" Both snapped their head at the awaking partner. "Oh y/n I'm sorry I scared you" Will managed out shifting up the bed and hugging their sleeping form. "It's fine...you're right, I need to start a storing out a schedule" "also one thst can fit woth natural sleeping habits" nico adds smiling

Him jumping off the stairs to dodge being trapped by 2 ravagers is just so cool. And then he enters level 3 and it’s pathetic tiny slime man again. “I wanna go homeeeee”. He’s so panicked in the dripstone it’s great. HOW DID HE DODGE BETWEEN THREE VEXES AND A RAVAGER AND EVOKER TEETH OH MY GOD. he can’t make the chain parkour when it’s not going LOL. and then he gets help from Pearl to do parkour! Everyone is an etho girl. All that and he dies to a vex.

The audacity to call Gem a chihuahua when he started it and the one who shakes like a little dog.

That’s an interesting strategy of also considering the slots the cards take up. Never thought of it that way before. That one should swap commons for rares makes sense obviously, but the way explained it! What a gamer.

Etho always has a Strat for the worst case scenario of being hazard block (a hard learned lesson right there lol), and he’s so happy when the way is actually cleared for once. Dodging that ravager and then MOMENT OF CLARITY RIGHT BEFORE HE EXITS!!! The dungeon is taunting him and wants him to stay so bad. AND THEN SWAGGER IN THE SHOP!!!

So he WAS a honey doper and sus stew slurper. Your barrel betrays you Etho. Oof that was rough. Ravager wrangling on level 1 is hard sometimes. He gives fair deals!! And calls out ripoffs! And it still doesn’t work lol. Infrequent runners giving out shards for cards makes sense because they aren’t going to use those shards anyways and having fun in dungeon with better cards matters more lol.

Remember when Tango said that people would never hit treasure limit on level 1? Especially without getting a key? Etho and Hypno and Gem are laughing at his redstone right now. Etho badmouthing Sprint before reluctantly buying it and now he loves it. Etho explores ONE time and immediately gets punished and he vows to never make that mistake again. HE GOT SANDWICHED BY THE LEVEL 2 DOORS LOL. HE ETHOWALLED HIMSELF. And of course the shop continues to torment him with bounding strides and nimble looting. I think he made the right choice there; especially since his deck has so much clank block.

How does he always get sprint right before entering level 3?? Rigged. HE ALREADY MEMORIZED LEVEL 3 AND LURES WARDENS AROUND!!? DARES TO UNSHIFT WHILE BLINDED AND ITS RIGHT THERE?!?! HOW?!! ETHO MY MAN HOW ARE YOU DOING THIS?!?! And then he misses Willie right there. AND HE MAKES IT!!! EVEN WITH A CAMPING RAVAGER!!!

Gem is absolutely right. Tango would hide an egg in the spiders den.

HE DOES IT AGAIN!!! Sprint right before level 3, in and out in roughly a minute, loot and scoot speeding his escape. And now Rusty!! 3 embers, 3 coins, and 3 crowns. That’s a lot. And he talks to Rusty like he’s telling his wild stories too. Sprint might be op, especially for level 3. Maybe tango should consider either nerfing it, making it more expensive, or limiting which level it can play at. He got 10 crowns. That’s insane. I don’t think anyone has ever left with 10 crowns without finding an egg / egg loot.

Etho: this is a deck building phase…. Here are three very good cards that I could buy. Hmmm…

I hate him so much why is he like this. I think sprint and a time would have been fine too. But yeah any of those cards would have been fantastic. AND HE CALLS GEM A TRYHARD IN THE CAKE ROOM. THIS LITTLE SHIT.

AND THEY ALL GANG UP TO BEAT HIM UP FOR TAKING SO LONG. HAHAHAHAAH. BEST MOMENT OF DECKED OUT RIGHT HERE. JUSTICE AND KARMA HAS BEEN SERVED. OH MY GOD. HE SEES GEM FIRST WITH HER SWORD BUT ITS BDUBS WHO PUNCHES HIM TO DEATH. YES. THIS IS SO SATISFYING. AND THEY STEAL HIS CROWNS AND CARDS.

Etho out here defending victims of scams and bad deals. First Cleo now Bdubs. And of course Bdubs voted armadillo when Etho specifically said not to. Gem’s a loyal ethogirl!!! That’s why she wants to beat him up so much. Etho on his rants. We love it. And then he just sets up Bdubs perfectly for Scar’s ravager jumpscare. Love that jump boost activated at the perfect time for that as well.

Wow that’s a lot of coins. Wished he didn’t cut him looping those ravagers though. And look he’s too scared to do the gem vine swing over the ravager in the spiders den. I’m really liking the crystal tings for level 3. It sounds so cool. Etho’s got level 3 down pat. Oh my god that bdubs track gave me a legit jumpscare. Was that tango messing around?? And I can’t believe that Etho maxed out the treasure for both levels. Of course he did. How does the shop always troll him with a card that literally just out of his reach.

That was a classic turn around the corner and BAM ravager jumpscare. Truly it is the spooky season this phase. Slime Etho!! Look at him go, looping wardens and finding the right spot somehow in all that blindness and tension. He got loot and scoot combined with bounding strides. And it got wasted because he was blinded and the warden was right there. The jump boost lasts for so long. The ravager wrangler is back at it! And he’s just there telling tales to Rusty as he waits for the loot to dispense. 2 coins, 4 embers, and 3 crowns!! Max Clank? We haven’t seen that for a while. YO THAT RAVAGER WAS RIGHT THERE HOW DID HE NOT SEE IT?!? HOW DID HE SURVIVE? Bro the redstone delay with the vexes saved his life right there. I CANNOT BELIEVE HE JUST CHARGED THROUGH RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE RAVAGER ON ONE HEART!!!! OH MY GOD. AND HE MAKES IT!!!! That shaky camera though.

Wait has Etho not died on level 3 yet? Omg he isn’t afraid to not perma-sneak. Look at him breaking the game again. The wild thing is that he found a parkour shortcut that many people had thought impossible previously. And of course jump boost occurs immediately after. His runs are just hilarious. I THOUGHT HE WAS ABOUT TO JUMP INTO LAVA HAHA. And what a perfect ending with the exact amount of frost embers needed to purchase suit up.

New Game!!! Hypno a Hypno! Two endings!

I got my Hermitcraft TCG cards today!

I ordered the game box and the booster box, and when I opened my second hermit pack I got a very funny, very Grumbo/waffle duo surprise, the first two cards were a mumbo and a grian! I ended up with 2 grians in total actually, a rare and a common.

The first hermit pack I opened had the common grian, as well as common Bdubs, Ijevin, Impulse, Iskall, and a rare Zedaph. The second one,the one with the grian and mumbo, had (of course) the rare grian and common mumbo, as well as common Keralis, common False, common Etho, and common Doc.

I haven't actually opened the other booster packs yet, since I was so excited about the Mumbo and Grian put together (as they should be) that I wanted to post about it.

My game box was also pretty cool, I love the TCG coin, it's heavy in your hand and just is pleasent to hold, I liked it so much I even showed it to my mom and am considering using it as a grounding object for my anxiety/ptsd.

My special collectors edition card was a Hypno, and funnily enough I also got the same Hypno in my starter deck.

the rest of my starter deck consisted of a holographic Rendog(!), a common (and very cute, with a guest appearance by her IRL dog) Geminitay, a common cleo, Stress, TFC, Iskall, and the man himself, Vintagebeef. The other cards in the deck are great too, just not as important to me as the hermit cards.

I seriously cannot understate how much I like this coin

I don't normally buy merch, or post about it, but I'm so excited about these cards. I don't think I'll get to play a game anytime soon, since I don't personally know any other hermit craft fans IRL, but just having the cards is cool. There was also cool creo sticker in the box which I'm thinking about sticking on my tablet case.

Wanted to sketch and paint something of what I imagine a pocket dimension Hypno can access through his hat and jacket looks like

This is where he keeps his rabbits and doves in my headcanon :]

Drew some New Zealand plants including: pōhutukawa trees, a kauri tree, and rārahu (ferns). There’s also bioluminescent mushrooms (not based on a specific species).

There’s stars reflected in the water but not in the sky. The water doesn’t always reflect what is visible. It can reflect the past or inner realities or illusions. Might want to play around with that idea if I draw this place again.

-- Hypno can use his mystic powers to recreate any magic trick from his old routines. Basically anything he could do with magic tricks (that he still remembers how to do), he can now do for real and sometimes at a grander scale. (For example: he could make small animals and objects disappear into his hats, now he can make people and buildings disappear into his hats and they would end up in his pocket dimension.) He could also add more to his repertoire if he learns how to do the magic trick practically first.

Judging by what I’ve seen in the show and what he says he can do, Hypno can: summon doves, rabbits, razor rings, wands that turn into knives?, and cards; transform physical objects into flowers; make objects and people disappear into his hats; presumably saw people in half and put them back together again; hypnotize people to follow a command; and teleport (going to headcanon that it’s just for short distances though.)

--It would be fun to add: never-ending rainbow handkerchiefs and maybe coins from behind people’s ears, and some more card tricks like cards going through things (also I really like Ollie’s idea that he uses cards as shields!) Maybe he can make people and objects float and predict what people write down or draw in a specific notebook too.

--The words he uses aren’t magic (except for when he had Houdini’s journals that is), they just help him focus and are a habit. Of course it’s for show too.

--The fashion montage illusion seems like something different than his usual powers. My headcanon is that it was the result of a spell he found instructions for (among mystic objects from the store Warren got that crystal from), and he created it using some water from the pocket dimension. However, after using the spell, and after the whole Battle Nexus New York happened, he returned to the pocket dimensions to find one of the islands (not one pictured above) was charred and damaged. He assumed that taking something from the pocket dimension to use in the spell had caused the destruction and decides to not try that again. He decides to stick with the abilities that come naturally to his mystic power. (I’m going with the idea that casting spells/manipulating magic comes with some kind of terrible cost or danger in the ROTTMNT universe. For example, Draxum’s spell taking them into Splinter’s mind was potentially dangerous.)

[I wanted to think about the limits to Hypno’s powers (since he really does seem to be potentially overpowered) so that's part of why I'm coming up with the headcanons that he has to know how to do the trick practically, and that he won't create a spell like the fashion montage illusion again (with him not wanting to risk damaging the pocket dimension again.) Of course, in the show what seems to keep him from being too overpowered and too much of a threat to the turtles is that he often gets his magic turned against him and isn't as malicious and focused as some of the other villains.]

Edit: (wanted to add another thought) I’m not sure who came up with this, but I’ve heard a theory that part of the reason why Mikey is so powerful with his mystic abilities is because he is open with his emotions. Mystic powers do seem to be connected to emotions in the show. What if that’s part of the reason Hypno is so powerful too? He does seem to be pretty open with his emotions (thinks back to when I was looking through screen shots to redraw, such a wide range of expressions: rage and terror and confusion and grief and guilt and joy etc. I mean what happened in Warren and Hypno Sitting in a Tree would be an emotional roller coaster for sure.)

We have Hypnos's white wings, Thanatos' black wings, Persephone's circlet with Asphodelus flowers and a short shroud over the eyes, a bunch of Poppies (Thanatos and Hypnos related), the iconic blue Hades Hair (Only related to Disney's Hades but alas and a general design inspired by a tunic or chiton :P.

And the grave has more Asphodelus and poppies, Honey Cakes, and a Libation (specifically honey wine, in the gold countainer), and of course, 2 coins for Charon u3u.
