Remus loves his friends, loves his boyfriend, loves them more than anything. But every time they go to Hogsmeade and one of them buys him something, it makes him jaw tense and stomach roll a little.

Remus has lived a life of quiet content and homely pleasures. He was always comfortable but the silent weight of money, of it always being so scarce, pressed down on his shoulders.

He wouldn’t ask his parents for anything more than books and jumpers for Christmas. He would understand when he was younger why his parents would have to say no to buying him toys and he saw how much it hurt them to have to say it so he stopped asking. When their toilet broke and they had to fill the back of it with a bucket for three months he never said anything in fear of upsetting his parents.

He loved his parents because they always tried and did their best.

And he loved his friends too. Loved James’ unlimited generosity but something in him convulsed slightly at the ease of which he could empty his pockets, especially for others.

He loved Sirius more than anyone else but the difference of how they were raised was startling. Sirius almost didn’t see money as a currency - he had far too much of it growing up to appreciate any small sum of cash.

To Sirius money was a key to get him things he already owned. Wanting something was not something that Sirius experienced growing up, at least not in the material sense. His parents kept their children’s hearts empty but their pockets full.

And even now, after leaving behind the rich legacy of his family, James’ parents gave and gave and gave to Sirius in a way that Remus’ parents never could for him.

So every time he picked something up off a shelf to briefly admire it and later be given it by James or Sirius, he would smile and thank them but flush in embarrassment and sit in shame on the way back to their dorm room.

He felt silly that sometimes he’d cry a bit before going to sleep, shoving the gifts from his friends under his bed because he could t bear to look at them. He felt different again, felt estranged and lacking. He felt jealous and uncomfortable.

The wolf inside him made him feel out of place in his skin and his second hand clothes were too small to cover it, long grown out of.

Remus knew that his friends didn’t think any differently of him. They’d support him no matter what. But he hated himself for having another fault, another vulnerability that they thought he needed help with in the first place.

Sometimes, Remus wished he had never been delivered that damn letter on his 11th birthday.

everytime I think about purple duo in season 3 in comparison to season 4 I go a little bit more crazy

vitalasy asking/making subz kill him because he was convinced his job was done, he saved the server and there was nothing left for him to do (in denial that lifesteal would not and could not be saved)

vs

subz asking/making vitalasy kill him because he had given up, and was convinced his life was only hurting the people he cared about

subz killed vitalasy very reluctantly but did it because he cared

vitalasy only killed subz after begging, bargaining and pleading for subz to promise to return to the server, return to him

subz was asked to do something he did not want to do both times (kill vitalasy, promise to return to the server) but agreed because he cared. because he knew what vitalasy is like as a person. he did not ask for anything in return, killing vitalasy was something he probably knew was coming. because that's just who vitalasy is.

vitalasy can't stand to lose people. he is selfish in the way that he wants to die first, so he doesn't have to bear living without the people he cares about

subz doesn't have grand goals or desires, he'll go along with whatever his teammates (vitalasy) wants because he cares about them more than anything. this, i think, stems from when subz tried to hold onto vitalasy's ideals after vitalasy's death in s3, but ultimately failed; ending the series in a truce and mass suicide pact. he learns that conflicts on the server are futile and will result in some semblance of peace at the end of the day. all that matters is that you have your allies by your side. something he lacked during the end of season 3. something he desperately wanted during season 4. he is selfish in the way that he'd rather look away than face conflict head on. dying in season 4 means he didn't have to look at the people he loved fight with each other, because what is the end of the server if he can't hold both his allies close to him. what is the end of a season if he can't hold their hands while they all plunge to their deaths.

the only way purple duo could get a happy ending is if they get banned side by side in a battle they both want to fight. vitalasy for the good of the server. subz for the good of vitalasy against a foe he does not care about.

It would maybe be easier if he'd been dropped in a little earlier. But that's no reason not to try.

Shen Yuan gets placed into Proud Immortal Demon Way in his own body once the plot is already well underway. Liu Qingge is dead, Shen Qingqiu is sealed in the water prison, that scum traitor Shang Qinghua has yet to be exposed for the scum he is, and Luo Binghe is four wives deep and already being corrupted by the Xin Mo sword.

And all of this is fine. It's not too late for Shen Yuan to make a difference, he just has to be smart about it.

Shen Yuan woke up. This was notable for a number of reasons, chief among them being that he was pretty sure he had never gone to sleep— but, rather, that he had died. Died from eating expired yogurt, which, as a way to go, just didn’t bear thinking about. But there he was. Awake. He was laid out on his back on what felt like bare stone. Congratulations! Congratulations! Congratulations! Important things must be said— [loading icon] [loading icon] error: unable to reach source drive system corrupted: unable to reconfigure shutdown in 3… 2… 1… And then the screen blinked out of existence, the only sign that it had ever been there the motes that its sudden absence left in Shen Yuan’s vision.
