GG: i think you are projecting your own attitude on to others […] GG: rose just sent me a code for a crystal ball, shes my friend and is basically the best! […] CA: its probably a trap i wwouldnt trust her CA: she is a cunnin and treacherous sort trust me i knoww her type GG: wait do you have a thing for her too??? GG: did she reject you or something?
Annihilate him, Jade. This would be a good time to unleash that rage you've been cultivating.
CA: all of her FRAUDULENT MAGICS cannot come close to posin threat to my mastery ovver the TRUEST SCIENCES CA: an wwith my empiricists wwand i servve as the righteous hope that wwill incinerate delusion and the deluded alike
This dude's on some Methods of Rationality type shit.
I'm not sure why Eridan is on a crusade against magic. He's been insisting it was fake since his original introduction page, and it's pretty clear he has some sort of complex about it. Is there some unseen history here that we're not yet privy to?
GG: wow what are you talking about CA: so really you should be honored to inherit my old callin CA: both my armaments and my feud
To be fair to Eridan, he is accomplishing something useful here, even if it's by accident. Jade needs to get that rifle in her pen-pal's hands in order to fulfil the Endgame Bunny's time loop.
Tumblr media
Recalling Eridan’s introduction reminds me that this is one of the most powerful riflekind weapons in existence. This should imply that top-tier weapons cost tens of millions of grist...
Tumblr media
...but we just saw a weapon that costs much, much more.
Maybe the Proton Cannon has the same damage as the Crosshairs, but it also has an incredibly broken non-combat use.
GG: i have seen this before […] GG: i am very sure its the same rifle included with johns present […] CA: probably a cheap imitation of the original […] GG: i did not provide the weapons! GG: my penpal did […] GG: we worked on it together but he supplied the bunnys weapons GG: im pretty sure hes from the future! CA: wwhy GG: because he said hes my grandson
Really?
I suppose being raised by a Sburb veteran would explain why he uses terms like 'boonbuck' in casual speech - but almost nothing else makes sense when viewed through this lens.
If Pen-Pal is Jade's grandson, then he should be from decades in the future - presumably long after the game has ended. This doesn't sound like a problem, until you remember some of the references he made.
Tumblr media
As much as it pains me to admit it, the Earth is probably gone for good - which means that any descendants of our Players will be raised somewhere else. Why would someone presumably raised in a completely different universe be so familiar with Earth's culture?
You could argue that he picked up his love of Earth movies from one of the surviving Earthlings, such as adult John - although that raises its own issues, because PP talks to John like he's never met him before. Maybe he died young, and passed his love of movies to PP posthumously - but as you can see, we're really having to stretch things to make this make sense.
Plus, there's an even bigger problem - namely, his 1920s 'accent'. None of the surviving Earthlings have it, and it's not like he just developed it spontaneously. If he was raised by Jade or her child, why does he talk like her grandfather would?
See, I'm still sure that PP is connected directly to Grandpa, and may well be the man himself - which means either PP is lying, or there's something more complicated going on here.
Tumblr media
We don't know anything about Grandpa's life after he fled the Crocker household. If he was somehow raised by an adult, post-Sburb Jade, then he could consider her his grandmother, while still talking and acting like the Grandpa Harley we know. Plus, it would explain why he acts like he's from the past, but knows about the future. He already has a history of time travelling - maybe he's been doing it since he was a kid.
Similar to my old theory about Spades Slick, this one is a little too convoluted to be 100% true - but still I think there's something to this idea. Being raised by Jade would neatly explain where he got the bunny's weapons...
Ugh, I don't know! This Pen-Pal really is the biggest curveball this comic has thrown at me. I need to think it over some more.

Hello I have a question on behalf of my friend who doesn't have tumblr. So, my friend has been working on her long story for about 2 years now when she found time after school. However, it was recently discovered that she has a tumour in her brain that she will have surgically removed within the coming months and while she told me the chances of anything happening is low, she is still worried and has expressed concern over her story. She told me that she has so much of the story planned out but not written down, so many details or plotpoints etc.... So her question is: how can one prepare for the worst case senario if you have an unfinished story? There are so many details and conversations that need to happen.
Friend Concerned About Surgery/Not Finishing Story
It's very nice of you to ask on her behalf. Just to clarify, though, I'm not a legal expert, so I can't give you or your friend legal advice. Just some ideas based on personal experience.
As much as I wish this would be an easy thing for your friend to address, it isn't. Our stories are copyrighted the moment they are written down in a tangible form, and if something happens to us, that manuscript and all of the pertinent documents and notes become part of our estate. That said, it would be up to the executor of the estate to determine what is done with the story based on the person's wishes as outlined in their will. If someone wanted another person to finish the story for them, they would be designated as this person in their will and the executor would contact them and give them any documents and instructions that were needed. But, ideally, this will have been arranged between the writer and other person long before. If there isn't time for those conversations, your friend could put as much of the detail and instructions as they can in a document and have it kept with their important documents.
If your friend doesn't have a will or an estate (if they're a minor, for example), this is just something that will have to be arranged between them and the person they want to finish their story, but they should also make sure to notify their parents/guardians that this permission has been given, and may even want to give the person a notarized document stating that they give the person permission to finish the story. Otherwise, the friend's family could potentially file for copyright infringement.
I worry a little because I remember getting a similar ask a while back about someone who had been reading a story in progress, and it looked like the writer had passed, and this person wanted to know if they could just finish the story since they'd talked to this person and knew where the story was going. And I'm hoping this ask isn't coming from the same person looking for some loophole that would allow them to go ahead and do this. So, just in case and to clarify: you can't finish someone else's story without their express written permission. It doesn't matter whether that story was posted online and abandoned, or whether they told you what was going to happen and you're the only one who can finish it, or even if you had a verbal agreement. The best anyone could do in that scenario would be to contact the family (who either hold the copyright or have a right to contest infringement) and ask for permission.
And, in the case of this ask specifically, if the friend wants you or someone else to finish their story if the worst happens, they need to make sure they have granted you written permission that is notarized or otherwise legally commissioned.
Ultimately, your friend probably will want to talk to a lawyer. Though, I am deeply hoping that they come through their surgery safely and successfully so they don't have to worry about it. ♥

no, Matty's not TTPD's muse - and neither is Joe
okay so in my previous post i said that i believe that taylor has a secret muse (or muses) she's been writing about and in this masterpost i'll further explain why.
alright so as many of you may have noticed, there are a few main themes in most of taylor's work: forbidden romances, being in love with your best friend - or someone so controversial that the world wouldn't accept, your parents wouldn't accept, you and your love being against the world, religious guilt - you know the stuff. i've always wondered why? because Taylor Swift the gorgeous gorgeous billionaire who's always been dating famous single men who's around her age (we're leaving Jack and John out here) - like why would her relationships would be so forbidden and unheard of and the world just turn against her if they knew? the obvious theory is, yeah because she's gay or at least bisexual. i think everyone has heard enough of this theory (and i think this is the theory that has the most evidence) but in this post i'm going to keep in neutral and try to explore it in a more broad way.
with the drop of TTPD, she put a face to this forbidden love - turns out it was Matty Healy all long. it was Matty whom she secretly dreamt about and it was Matty whom would make her fall from grace just to touch his face etcetera. i mean yeah, it could be - but honestly i feel like this doesn't hold enough evidence considering she had been writing about the same person before they even met (2014). that's why I think Matty is a red-herring (a clue or piece of information that is, or is intended to be, misleading or distracting). it holds even more evidence when she is the one who's been telling us that she lies and withholds informations from us if you've ever listened to her carefully. anyways i'm not good at summarising stuff, so i'll just share the examples (the files, if you will) and it's up to you to decide.
so Taylor wrote about forbidden love both in Fearless (Love Story) and Speak Now (Ours), but we won't get into much detail here considering she was still a kid so yep it makes sense her parents wouldn't let her date who she wants lmao.
file I. Red
"Put your lips close to mine As long as they don't touch"
i think the entirety of Treacherous is pretty self-explanatory. this was like 2-3 years before she met Matty.
file ii. 1989
"And you took a Polaroid of us Then discovered (Then discovered) The rest of the world was black and white But we were in screaming color"
the entirety of Out of the Woods explores the same old theme of your love being doomed from the beginning and it's you and your love against the world. this is supposed to about Harry Styles because of the bridge (Remember when you hit the brakes too soon?) (which I believe is an other red-herring) but I honestly do not understand why dating Harry Styles would feel like that lmao. "Baby, like we stood a chance / Two paper airplanes flying" i mean i don't know.
"Haven't you heard what becomes of curious minds? Ooh, didn't it all seem new and exciting?"
"Too in love to think straight All alone, or so it seemed But there were strangers watching And whispers turned to talking And talking turned to screams, oh"
the same theme in Wonderland (which i believe sounds extremely queer, but like i said it's for you to decide)
"I cannot be your friend, so I pay the price of what I lost"
"Truth is, I can't pretend it's Platonic, it's just ended, so"
"One night, he wakes, strange look on his face Pauses, then says, "You're my best friend" And you knew what it was, he is in love"
themes of being in love with your best friend. i think it's self-explanatory.
"I had the fantasy that maybe our mismatched star signs Would surprise the whole school"
"When you told me we'd get back together"
"You don't knock anymore, and my whole life's ruined"
another theme is high school lovers. which is interesting because none of Taylor's exes that we know about weren't in the same school with her, or neither were her childhood friends. this theme will make a huge comeback in later albums.
file iii. reputation
this album is FUCKED. okay,
"Something happened for the first time In the darkest little paradise Shaking, pacing, I just need you"
"For you I would cross the line I would waste my time I would lose my mind They say, "She's gone too far this time."
"Halo, hiding my obsession I once was poison ivy, but now I'm your daisy"
reputation is mostly supposed to be about Joe Alwyn and again, i don't know what is it about Joe that would make her questions her faith like that.
"Your love is a secret I'm hoping, dreaming, dying to keep"
?
"I, I loved you in secret First sight, yeah, we love without reason"
"Picture of your face in an invisible locket You said there was nothing in the world that could stop it I had a bad feeling"
"I, I loved you in spite of Deep fears that the world would divide us So, baby, can we dance Oh, through an avalanche?"
"I'd kiss you as the lights went out Swaying as the room burned down I'd hold you as the water rushes in"
again i really don't remember her and Joe ever being this secret and forbidden and the public wouldn't let them be together if they ever knew but, okay.
"Our secret moments in a crowded room They got no idea about me and you"
"All of this silence and patience, pining and anticipation My hands are shaking from holding back from you"
"I don't want you like a best friend"
"Inescapable, I'm not even gonna try And if I get burned, at least we were electrified"
"Everyone thinks that they know us But they know nothing about—"
TAYLOR WHAT'S GOING ON. alright we're moving on
file iv. Lover
"I don't wanna keep secrets just to keep you And I snuck in through the garden gate Every night that summer just to seal my fate (Oh) And I scream, "For whatever it's worth I love you, ain't that the worst thing you ever heard?"
again there's this romance that is so forbidden and not meant to happen but she can't help it etcetera. doesn't scream Joe Alwyn to me.
"We were crazy to think Crazy to think that this could work Remember how I said I'd die for you? We were stupid to jump In the ocean separating us Remember how I'd fly to you?"
"They all warned us about times like this They say the road gets hard and you get lost When you're led by blind faith, blind faith"
"But we might just get away with it Religion's in your lips Even if it's a false god We'd still worship We might just get away with it The altar is my hips Even if it's a false god"
"I know heaven's a thing I go there when you touch me, honey"
"Make confessions and we're begging for forgiveness"
again what's going on that would make her question her faith like that.
"School bell rings, walk me home"
"20 questions, we tell the truth You've been stressed out lately, yeah, me too Something gave you the nerve To touch my hand"
"Church bells ring, carry me home Rice on the ground looks like snow Call my bluff, call you "Babe" Have my back, yeah, every day Feels like home, stay in bed The whole weekend"
again being in love with your best friend and they get married at the end. honestly i just believe this is gay.
file v. Folklore
"I persist and resist the temptation to ask you If one thing had been different Would everything be different today?"
"In my defense, I have none For digging up the grave another time"
the entirety of The One is just about still thinking about your ex love. this theme will make a huge comeback in TTPD.
"I knew you Tried to change the ending Peter losing Wendy"
again she's reminiscing about her ex love. keep the Peter & Wendy theme in the back of your mind.
"You know I didn't want to Have to haunt you But what a ghostly scene You wear the same jewels That I gave you As you bury me"
another theme is ghosts, death and burials. also keep this one in mind.
"I still got love for you Your braids like a pattern Love you to the moon and to Saturn Passed down like folk songs The love lasts so long"
another childhood love song. it could be interpreted as platonic, but it sounds romantic to me. idk.
"Back when we were still changing for the better Wanting was enough For me, it was enough To live for the hope of it all"
"Cause you weren't mine to lose You weren't mine to lose"
she's still reminiscing about "The One" but here it also overlaps with the high school love muse. this is going to make more sense in Evermore.
"And that's the thing about illicit affairs And clandestine meetings And longing stares It's born from just one single glance But it dies and it dies and it dies"
i mean i don't think an explanation for Illicit Affairs is needed. here comes a new theme, the one whom she's having a forbidden affair turns out to be married.
"You showed me colors you know I can't see with anyone else"
"You taught me a secret language I can't speak with anyone else"
kinda screams Out of the Woods to me.
"My twisted knife My sleepless night My winless fight This has frozen my ground"
"You know I left a part of me back in New York You knew the hero died, so what's the movie for"
"You knew you won, so what's the point of keeping score?"
again this is supposed to be about Joe (the references to "blue", him being a pisces and having mental issues) but it really doesn't sound like it - i mean not in the narrative we know about.
"Take me to the Lakes where all the poets went to die I don't belong and, my beloved, neither do you"
"While I bathe in cliffside pools With my calamitous love and insurmountable grief"
again the feeling of being misunderstood by the whole public and she defines Joe as her "calamitous" (catastrophic) love. hmm.
file vi. evermore
"Every bait-and-switch was a work of art"
bait-and-switch in literature is explained as: "This occurs when the author guides and encourages readers to invest their attention in some suspenseful situation but then is substitute for a payoff that has little to do with what occurred before."
"So we could call it even You could call me "babe" for the weekend 'Tis the damn season, write this down I'm staying at my parents' house And the road not taken looks real good now And it always leads to you and my hometown"
"I parked my car Right between the Methodist and the school that used to be ours"
"So I'll go back to LA And the so-called friends who'll write books about me if I ever make it And wonder about the only soul who can tell which smiles I'm faking"
again the high school love.
"There'll be happiness after you But there was happiness because of you"
reminiscing The One again.
"Hey Dorothea Do you ever stop and think about me? When we were younger Down in the park Honey, making a lark of the misery"
this is the childhood friend muse we've seen before in It's Nice to Have a Friend and Seven (even in Mary's Song).
"And I'm sitting on a bench in Coney Island wondering where did my baby go? The fast times, the bright lights, the merry go"
"Will you forgive my soul When you're too wise to trust me and too old to care? 'Cause we were like the mall before the Internet It was the one place to be The mischief, the gift wrapped suburban dreams"
this kind of sounds to me like the muse in 'tis the Damn Season. it is clear that this was someone from her teenage years, could be the high school love. also a reference to Suburban Legends.
"Oh, goddamn My pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand Taking mine, but it's been promised to another"
the married muse.
"And the old widow goes to the stone every day But I don't, I just sit here and wait Grieving for the living"
"I wish to know The fatal flaw that makes you long to be Magnificently cursed"
the same cemetery and being haunted theme.
"It's been a long time And seeing the shape of your name Still spells out pain"
"I know I'm just a Wrinkle in your new life Staying "friends" Would iron it out so nice"
she's still reminiscing about her ex love and also a reference to being friends.
"Help, I'm still at the restaurant Still sitting in a corner I haunt"
right where you left me is like the song that has all the theories combined lmao. there's not getting over The One, there's her love getting married to someone else (Glass shattere on the white cloth / I'm sure that you got a wife out there / Kids and Christmas but I'm unaware cause I'm right where you left me), there's being haunted, there's queerness (Hairpin drop) - there's literally everything.
file vii. Midnights
"Laughing with my feet in your lap Like you were my closest friend"
the best friend theme and honestly i think this is just gay.
"'Cause I don't remember who I was before you Painted all my nights A color I have searched for since"
feels like a direct reference to Out of the Woods and, illicit affairs maybe?
"Oh, my, love is a lie Shit my friends say to get me by It hits different It hits different this time"
another breakup song that was written when she was with Joe.
"I used to switch out these Kens, I'd just ghost"
the Kens will make a comeback in TTPD.
"I find the artifacts, cried over a hat Cursed the space that I needed I trace the evidence, make it make some sense"
"artifacts" and "evidence" will also make a come back later.
"Bet I could still melt your world Argumentative, antithetical dream girl"
honestly i think this is just gay.
"Is it okay? Is it you? Or have they come to take me away? To take me away"
another reference to being locked up in an asylum lmao.
"We can plant a memory garden Say a solemn prayer Place a poppy in my hair"
another reference to graveyards and also battles, which comes back in You're Losing Me.
"Privacy sign on the door And on my page and on the whole world Romance is not dead if you keep it just yours"
keeping your love hidden which she didn't lmao
"I wanna transport you To somewhere the culture's clever Confess my truth In swooping, sloping, cursive letters"
she needs to take her love to somewhere the culture's clever so they could be... understood? i mean i wonder why... why would she need to confess her truth about Joe
"High infidelity Put on your records and regret me"
"Do you really want to know where I was April 29th? Do I really have to chart the constellations in his eyes?"
she's just cheating
"I'd pay, if you'd just know me"
another reference to taylor feeling like she's not being understood
"We were supposed to be just friends You don't live in my part of town but maybe I'll see you out some weekend"
friends alert
"Dear reader, if it feels like a trap You're already in one"
"Dear reader, burn all the files Desert all your past lives And if you don't recognize yourself That means you did it right"
"Never take advice from someone who's falling apart"
"Dear reader, you don't have to answer Just 'cause they asked you"
"Dear reader, the greatest of luxuries is your secrets"
i think Dear Reader is the song that made the making of TTPD possible because this is like the first song she directly confesses that her life is not what it seems and she keeps things hidden
"I prefer hiding in plain sight"
"Spilling out to you for free But darling, darling, please You wouldn't take my word for it if you knew who was talking If you knew where I was walking To a house, not a home, all alone 'cause nobody's there"
she's basically saying YOU WOULDN'T EVEN BELIEVE ME IF I TOLD YOU THE TRUTH. it cannot get more obvious.
"You should find another guiding light, guiding light But I shine so bright"
she knows that despite her efforts to tell us about her life and how it's very different from the narrative she tells us the public won't believe it cause she shines so bright
file viii. THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT
"I was supposed to be sent away, but they forgot to come and get me I was a functioning alcoholic till nobody noticed my new aesthetic"
she shockingly confesses to not actually being what she seemed to be - she's depressed and she's an alcoholic and the reference to being locked up in the psych ward (Hits Difference) (also Fortnight mv)
"You're in self-sabotage mode, throwing spikes down on the road"
"But you awaken with dread, pounding nails in your head"
kind of reminds me of the muse of Peace (if your cascade ocean blue waves come) and Hoax
"He was my best friend Down at the sandlot I felt more when we played pretend Than with all the Kens"
the best friend theme and the Kens?
"Did you take all my old clothes? Just to leave me here naked and alone In a field in my same old town"
"Down bad like I lost my twin"
honestly it sounds like she's singing about a woman here. (Karlie)
"I'll build you a fort on some planet Where they can all understand it"
the reference to Paris and all the other songs where she feels like her love cannot be understood
"I just learned these people only raise you to cage you Sarahs and Hannahs in their Sunday best Clutching their pearls, sighing, "What a mess" I just learned these people try and save you 'Cause they hate you"
i won't write the whole lyrics but the entirety of But Daddy I Love him is about forbidden love (like Love Story), not being understood, the whole world judging your love etc.
"Now, pretty baby, I'm runnin' back home to you Fresh out the slammer, I know who my first call will be to"
"Gray and blue and fights and tunnels Handcuffed to the spell I was under For just one hour of sunshine"
"My friends tried but I wouldn't hear it Watched me daily disappearing For just one glimpse of his smile"
i feel like Frest Out the Slammer is a direct reference to illicit affairs muse (Make sure nobody sees you leave / Hood over your head keeps your eyes down / Tell them you're out for a run / You'll be flushed when you return)
"At the park where we used to sit on children's swings Wearing imaginary rings"
again it sounds like the muse is somebody whom she's known since she was way younger
"Without ever touching his skin How can I be guilty as sin?"
yeah she wants to cheat so bad lmao. i think this is pre-illicit affairs.
"I keep these longings locked In lowercase, inside a vault Someone told me there's no such thing as bad thoughts Only your actions talk"
again religious guilt and keeping your desires hidden.
"What if I roll the stone away? They're gonna crucify me anyway What if the way you hold me is actually what's holy? If long-suffering propriety is what they want from me They don't know how you've haunted me so stunningly I choose you and me religiously"
wow. once again she's haunted.
"They shake their heads, saying, "God help her" when I Tell 'em he's my man But your good Lord doesn't need to lift a finger I can fix him, no really I can"
you know what i honestly believe this is the same muse from cowboy like me lmao. another dangerous forbidden love.
"Who's gonna stop us from waltzing back into rekindled flames If we know the steps anyway? We embroidered the memories of the time I was away Stitching, "We were just kids, babe" I said, "I don't mind, it takes time""
here comes the muse from the 1, the old flame. again the childhood / high school lovers trope.
"Still alive, killing time at the cemetery Never quite buried"
cemeteries again?
"It was unnecessary, should've let it stay buried"
i think this is after-the 1. (If one thing had been different / Would everything be different today?) i think they tried again but it didn't work.
"I can read your mind "She's having the time of her life" There in her glittering prime The lights refract sequin stars Off her silhouette every night I can show you lies"
i don't think i need to explain I Can Do it With a Broken Heart.
"And I don't even want you back, I just want to know If rusting my sparkling summer was the goal"
there's something about The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived that makes me think about it's related to August. i feel like it was written from August' POV.
"'Cause it wasn't sexy once it wasn't forbidden"
self-explanatory, huh?
"Now I want to sell my house and set fire to all my clothes And hire a priest to come and exorcise my demons"
again she's haunted but i think The Black Dog is honestly about Joe.
"I'm the albatross I swept in at the rescue The devil that you know Looks now more like an angel"
again more religious imagery that i'm too tired to explain right now lmao but you know the drill
"You turned me into an idea of sorts"
she's talking about the public's perception of her
"Say it once again with feeling How the death rattle breathing Silenced as the soul was leaving The deflation of our dreaming Leaving me bereft and reeling My beloved ghost and me Sitting in a tree D-Y-I-N-G"
?
"And so I changed your name and any real defining clues And one day Your kid comes home singing A song that only us two is gonna know is about you"
this is where the real deal comes in. in thanK you aIMee, it sounds like a direct reference to Kim Kardashian but she just throws this line here which makes you think... hmm. if she changed her name and any real defining clues how do we know it's about Kim? so maybe it isn't. i mean that's what she said anyways.
"I tried searching faces on streets What are the chances you'd be Downtown, downtown, downtown Does it feel alright to not know me? I'm addicted to the "if only"
feels like a reference to The One.
"I got cursed like Eve got bitten Oh, was it punishment?"
"Please I've been on my knees Change the prophecy Don't want money Just someone who wants my company Let it once be me"
"A greater woman stays cool But I howl like a wolf at the moon"
"A greater woman has faith But even statues crumble if they're made to wait I'm so afraid I sealed my fate No sign of soulmates"
another song where she feels doomed and cursed. honestly i think this is the saddest song from TTPD.
"You can mark my words that I said it first In a mourning warning no one heard
No one heard Not a single word was heard"
in Cassandra she once again sings about not being heard.
"Forgive me, Peter My lost fearless leader In closets like cedar Preserved from when we were just kids"
"You said you were gonna grow up Then you were gonna come find me"
in Peter she once again sings about the old flame, the 1, the childhood love. we're supposed to believe the muse in question is Matty. they were both 25 when they met so it's up to you to decide if this is the childhood love. idk.
"Started with a kiss "Oh, we must stop meeting like this" But it always ends up with a town car speeding Out the drive one evening Ended with the slam of a door Then he'll call her a whore"
illicit affairs alert
so, to sum it up -
chapter "hiding in plain sight"
i. dear reader, ii. thank you aimee, iii. fortnight, iv. i can do it with a broken heart
chapter "forbidden love"
i. love story, ii. ours, iii. treacherous, iv. illicit affairs, v. cowboy like me, vi. but daddy i love him, vii. guilty as sin
chapter "i loved you in secret"
i. king of my heart, ii. dress, iii. don't blame me, iv. paris, v. glitch
chapter "the 1"
i. the 1, ii. 'tis the damn season, iii. coney island, iv. suburban legends, v. loml, so many more i'm so tired at the moment lmao let me wrap it up
chapter "passed down like folk songs"
this is the childhood best friend chapter btw
i. seven, ii. dorothea, iii. mary's song, iv. it's nice to have a friend
chapter "suburban legends"
this is the high school love chapter which could also overlap with the 1 chapter
i. 'tis the damn season, ii. coney island, iii. loml
chapter "best friend" (which could also overlap the childhood best friend and high school love chapter, i know it's so complicated)
i. maroon, ii. you are in love, iii. dress, iv. mary's song, v. it's nice to have a friend
alright so i've probably left some songs out cause i'm on my period and my mind is so foggy, like i said i'm so tired so please let me know there's anything missing.
to sum it up in a shorter way,
muse i. the best friend (which can both be the childhood best friend or the high school lovers, the one from her hometown, also can be the 1)
muse ii. illicit affairs, the one that got married, it can also overlap the prior muse idk
muse iii. this one is clearly a woman in my opinion.
IN CONCLUSION
in conclusion, there seems to be at least one hidden muse throughout taylor's discography. i feel like there's at least three. by the way - i couldn't care less whom taylor writes about. i'm just interested in the story she has to tell. and lately it's been feeling like she has been begging for us to understand her. i think she uses a lot of red herrings to hide the true muses of her songs. when you carefully listen to her whole discography there are a few stories that instantly connect to each other that is out of the narrative taylor explicitly chose to tell us about. and this is not to say that she never had a relationship with Harry or Joe or whatever - it's just that I believe there is someone else (or others) that we don't yet know about. i think the one she's known from her hometown is the most obvious one.
anyways, i'm curious to hear about your thoughts in this.

I've been building up this post for quite a while so I think everything in this post is kinda out of order and looks like a bit of a big word vomit... So sorry in advance. Also since it is kinda longer than I realise, I am putting it under the cut. And I am open to any discussion.
(Personally think I may have gotten a few things wrong and if so, please correct me?)
I think the thing about Orym and grief is... A part of him has never let himself grieve his loss properly. He has accepted that they are dead and will never come back, yes. He makes it a point to live up to them everyday, yes. But acceptance is not the same as grief, it is a part of it but not the same.
And this was an interesting discussion I was having with my friends and I feel that it strikes so true here, is the fact that you remember the worst moments of your life more vividly than the happiest moments because in your happy moments, you don't question what happened to you as much as you question your worst moments in life.
And Orym has lived with that question for six years. Now, the same could be said to Ashton and Imogen and Fearne and the rest of the Bells Hells really but as pointed out in this post by @caeslxys. (a really good pot btw) Even though the others have had their questions as to why a particular bad incident happened, Orym has had the shortest time to actually cope with it while for the others, it has been years at this point and maybe they have sort of come to peace with most of their shit before it came back to hit them in their face. And for some, it just hit them recently.
And for Orym the question of "Why?" resurfaces again and again the more he seeks out answers and when he does get the answer... I don't think anyone would really love to learn that the two most important people in their lives were dead because "it was just collateral damage. They didn't really have to die but they did." Not when you were having a happy, peaceful life. They signed up for this, yes. But it is also not fair to have your whole life cut short just because a big shot wants to test a theory.
And I am not trying to say that Orym bringing up his losses every time they have a discussion about the Vanguard is right or wrong because he has every right to and may be wrong at the same time because he is biased. Because at this point, he is very biased.
Apart from what I mentioned above, Orym watched Otohan kill his husband and father. He fought Otohan again and this time lost his life, Fearne and Laudna. He fights Otohan again and nearly loses Keyleth. Fights Otohan again a fourth time and knows that there would've been more losses if FCG hadn't sacrificed themselves. Not to forget Otohan killing Eshteross, something I think Orym internally blames himself for because she read his mind for the information. And even if Otohan is now dead, the loss stays.
I also think that seeing Will when he died had more of a personal impact than he realised because I know while seeing the dead person can sometimes bring some comfort, at the same time, when you are trying to live up to them, trying to answer questions that are just beyond you when you really haven't had the chance to completely grieve and accept, the grief possibly just hits you more.
SO while the Hells have had their personal losses with the Vanguard and Otohan, I think Orym has had the longest beef with the group among them all. He didn't know about the Vanguard 6 years ago, yes. He discovered their name along with the rest of the Hells. But loss wise, Orym was the first of the lot to suffer due to the Vanguard.
This is not me trying to put an exact scale or measurement of the loss cuz it is intangible and stuff. But he's been dealing with it for 6 years. Maybe not for harbouring revenge, but the resentment hasn't completely gone but rather festered the more he seeked answers. So he is going to be extra jaded.
But not to forget the fact that up until Bordor, he did try to see the Vanguard's point too, still kinda does (the locket he took from a Vanguard member as a reminder) but I think by the time of Bordor's betrayal, he's had too many losses with the Vanguard to actually care of their point of view because all he's seen of their group is innocent people getting killed or almost killed for no reason at all.
Bordor's beef as a person from the Vanguard had been against Laudna, Orym and Ashton but he still nearly killed Prism and would've probably marked it off as collateral if she'd died. Dropping off the locket with Bordor doesn't mean that he left all his empathy but at the same time, like he mentions, they are at war. And war doesn't really discriminate amongst people. It just takes.
Like he said to Imogen, I think he still tries to believe the Vanguard can have some people who are good and not all of them are evil but all he's know from the Vanguard at this point is loss and Liliana's blind faith towards Ludinus or Predathos doesn't help.
So back to the recent episode.
Do I think that it is wrong for Orym to bring up to Liliana about his dead family as an answer to her response. No. Do I think it was a wrong time to bring it up? Maybe. Because Liliana was not being confrontational but Orym was turning confrontational the more the discussion happened.
But the thing about Orym saying it to her face is that... It is one thing to know that there have been deaths and even if Liliana didn't directly cause it, she was a part of the group that did and brush it off as collateral damage. And no one does a census or survey post the "collateral damage" on how it affects the other person because now, they have what they want to there is no use to go back there.
And Orym is kinda like that mirror which is like... "SO you had a loss because of the gods and now are going around leaving collateral damage you want to fix stuff? Guess what? Your collateral damage was my life that you just uprooted just like the gods/god people did yours, so are you really any different from the people you hate and the change you want to bring about?" (which is kinda the parallel between Orym and Bordor I find really interesting because this is a cycle that is never ending at the end of the day)
And did Orym need that outlet? Hells yeah. GIVE THAT MAN A HUG!

[oc x cannon rambles]
OKAY. Continuining from this.
New Au that originates from Royal AU -> Isekai Royal AU
Tumblr media
more rambles/lore/fic/explanation/art below (compiled it into one post so i dont spam yall's tl with my bs LMAO:
[wARNING: big sad, MCD(Raven), angst, death, violence, injuries]
In the ending of Royal AU, King!Price married another Queen and had a kid, Royal Guard!Raven got promoted to Commander, they go their separate ways for the sake of the nation
The kid, aka the Princess, has everything Price had, the exact blue eyes and all except she was blonde like her mother.
She was rather fond of Raven, and always sneaked out to find Commander Raven despite Raven warning her not to.
Raven's still a softie though, so in the end, she ended up growing soft for her.
Until it all falls apart.
First it was a scream, and before she could register it she was bolting towards the voice.
It was the lil girl's scream.
Tumblr media
She regretted not wearing armour that day, but somehow she managed to escape with the Princess in hand, stumbling down to the deeper part of the woods that was safe for now.
"Shhh...don't cry Princess....you're safe now"
Raven coos the trembling young Princess, her poor face pale from the shock and bruises on her delicate skin.
Lost count of how many arrows were on her back, she knew it was only a matter of time before it will take its full effect.
Poison arrows, the fletching bearing a black greenish gradient.
It was an assassination attempt on the young Princess.
"R-Raven...Raven I'm scared...."
"It's okay, it's okay...don't be scared....help's on their way..."
"Papa...I want Papa!!"
"......"
She sighs quietly, it stings, not from the arrows itself, but...from the weight of it all.
"I want your papa too....Princess"
She mumbled in a dazed, blood loss and her dizziness making it hard for her to decipher if she was thinking, or talking out loud, one thing she is certain was she can no longer hunched forward as she slumps to the ground.
"R-Raven? Raven!"
"....listen to me well...lil one..."
"...your papa....the Emperor...your majesty...is a great man..."
"he was a man who loved with all his heart...."
"your papa loves unconditionally....and the one thing he loves most in the world...is you"
More sniffles were heard from the lil girl, who were shaking worse than before, Raven reaches her hand out in an attempt to calm the young lady, only to smear some of her blood onto her pretty pink dress, she frowns at that...but...she was tired...
So so tired...but she kept going.
"....papa may be scary sometimes...and he scolds you...or punish you...but it's for your own good"
"....papa is also very kind...when he needs to...he bought you the tiara you really wanted...remember, Princess?"
"y-yes...I love it..."
"that's right...and you are a pretty girl...pretty eyes like your papa...yeah?"
Raven smiles, the pain subsiding into a blur
"and you have the brightest smile...don't cry...Princess...because a smile suits you better...please?"
She knows this is all wrong, that the poor princess will be traumatized forever because of this.
But the Princess was obedient, and smiles through the snort and tears.
Raven chuckles quietly, nodding weakly.
She'll be alright.
"...treasure your papa...Princess..."
Her eyes closed once, twice...and it was getting harder and harder to open them, or to hear anything else, not even the sound of horses gallop that was getting closer and closer
"...do it for me..."
And then she was swallowed by darkness
Tumblr media
In her last moment, she watched a couple sitting side by side, she knew this scene.
The last time they were allowed to be with each other.
Tumblr media
"Maybe in another life..." "I'll look for you in every single one of those lifetime" "yeah...you'd that for me, birdie?" "mhm..." "just remember...I love owls" "pretty vague if you ask me..." "you'll know it when you see me" "....that I can guarantee..."
The scene before her morphs into nothingness when she tried to reach out for it, a blinding light forces her vision to go white as she struggles to move.
When she does open her eyes again, she was heaving, sweating and....grabbing the air?
She blinks a few time, this doesn't feel like dying, wait-
She quickly sat up, and realise she was in a room, dimly lit but there were light at the balcony, she dash towards it, opening the windows only to be greeted with something she wouldn't expect.
She recognise this place...the ocean, the city, the flags, the castle- this castle-
How the hell did she end up in the Umbralis Citadel? [bear with me here i literally cannot come up with names of places LOL]
She quickly strolls back to her room, stopping before a mirror as she glanced at her reflection.
A Princess.
She has reincarnated as the Veil Princess.
=================
anywyas yeah thats sort of the fic SO the premise for the first art itself is moreso Princess Raven who managed to finally see King!Price after some careful planning and such, took the opportunity and meet him.
At first she gaze from afar, because she got emotional seeing him after...after everything they went through (she didn't even get to say good bye to him before she died).
Her attire choices was deliberate, although she was already rocking the modest, simple look since as the Veil Princess, no one really pay attention to her (she's the youngest in the royal family).
So she finally approaches him...AND THE STORY BEGINS-

Not hating but I really don't understand why some need NEED Astarion's original "corrupt magistrate" backstory to be canon so badly. I keep seeing posts trying to argue it's still canon based on interviews from all the way back in 2020 when the game was still in early access and the art book and it's like...okay but none of that is actually in the game. There are TONS of things in the official art book that never made it into the game. Lots of things about the game and story changed from 2020 - final release. Astarion's "corrupt" backstory isn't even alluded to in EA so technically it's not even cut content. It just was never in the game. You can headcanon whatever you want, obviously. But if Astarion was doing something as over-the-top evil as knowingly trafficking people to Cazador Larian would have made that revelation clear in the story. But Larian clearly cut that content with purpose.
If I had to hazard to guess I would say Astarion's original EA backstory involving trafficking victims directly to Cazador was probably changed and reworked into Astarion being compelled to kidnap the Gur children for Cazador. Which brings me to Astarion's evilness. I see some people complain that the changes made to Astarion's backstory ruined the only evil male companion by "toning down" his evilness. And while I can see why they would find his original backstory compelling for that reason, I'm a bit confused as to why these people don't consider current Astarion to be an evil companion. I absolutely love and adore him to pieces, but Astarion in the current game can still be plenty evil. Even before he learns about the ritual he approves of tons of evil actions and actively wants to control the cult of the Absolute to take over the world lol.
He may have been compelled to take the Gur children against his will but his reaction when you confront him about it is super telling: he immediately goes into self-defensive mode and his first instict is to throw them under the bus and sacrifice them to ascend. And unless you pass the speech check to talk him out of it, he WILL DO IT. Astarion still gets plenty of chances to be the evil male companion you want him to be in the current version of the game.
If anything it's more shocking to see him be so dismissive and callous towards the Gur children as the Astarion we've come to know and love rather than some abstract past version of Astarion that we've never known and that he barely remembers himself. But seeing him actually contemplate sacrificing all those people rather than just being told he sent some innocent people to their deaths 200 years ago is chilling, especially playing through the game first time and not knowing if you'll be able to persuade him out of it or not. I love that we CAN talk him out of it. And to me, that does show he's not pure evil or irredeemable. But the potential for evil is absolutely there.

Having played an ascended Astarion route I want to know your thoughts on why he doesn’t allow you to be with him if you choose to not be his spawn? He also has lines that make Tav/Durge feel guilty if you don’t say yes. There also isn’t really an option for “not right now, but later. I’m not ready” he calls you ungrateful and breaks it off with Tav/Durge. But as a Durge player I couldn’t see my Durge wanting to jump right into being a spawn after breaking away from Bhaal. It’s either you give yourself to him or nothing. Does Gale break it off with you if you tell him you’re not ready to marry? That to me seems controlling
If you've chosen to help Astarion ascend, he assumes - rightly, in fact - that you are willing to both kill and die for him. To him, it is powerfully romantic and a demonstration of your devotion to him as a partner and lover. Of course the next step is for him to consummate that devotion in the biggest act of service he can offer by making you his eternal consort.
But remember that Astarion does not take rejection well. His relationship with you is always fragile and very precious to him. Denying him is a rejection - and that, after everything you've done for him, is fairly cruel. Why help him ascend if you didn't want to stand by him afterward? He's still just as lost and alone as he was before, even if he's got the power now. As much as he's changed, he hasn't.
It was in the writer's hands to offer the option of delaying - not a matter of Astarion's character. But if you delay by force (don't take a long rest after letting him ascend), he stays with you regardless. He is nothing but earnestly delighted if you then bring it up yourself, later on.
If you do not want to become his spawn when he asks, you can pretty much either choose to break up with him first, or call him a hypocrite. Those aren't great options, and unfortunately do lead to negative reactions. This part is a game limitation. The writers very much favour good-aligned characters, and it is displayed here as well. Using game limitations to assert his character is unfair to the content, and so is comparing Astarion's proposal or reactions to Gale's. Gale has his own set of virtues and flaws, and bringing him into it at all is unnecessary.
Astarion, is an evil-aligned character and can be very cruel with his words, spawn or ascended. He will lash out if you're mean or disrespectful toward him at any point in the game. That Astarion lashes out when you compare him to Cazador, call him a hypocrite, or otherwise deny his affections toward you as being real is justified and completely in character.
It's possible that Astarion breaks off the romance not because you deny him so much as it is to protect himself. He's got a hugely inflated ego but also has an overactive inferiority complex. He loves control - he's always wanted it because it was taken away from him, and he likes having it. He loves having because he's never had anything. He doesn't act on these impulses in a healthy way, because he's hurt, and he wants you, and you're saying you don't want him back.
I do not consider your chosen example controlling, though. He gives you an ultimatum based on his own needs and desires, and you're absolutely free to choose what you want to do with that. Ultimatums aren't good - because Astarion is not good - but what Astarion is doing here is asking for your consent.
The significance of consent is more important to Astarion's character than his goodness.
Also, I think it's also fair to say that Astarion does not see himself as another Bhaal. He blatantly denies being anything like Cazador. He may be cruel, evil, possessive, and dominant - but he still absolutely, severely adores the player, and I genuinely don't think he wants to control you in the same way as Bhaal or Cazador did. He does not consider you his slave or his spawn - as I evidenced in my earlier post but will restate here: he considers himself as beholden to you as you are to him. He considers you more than a spawn, "his right hand," his "eternal lover," "by his side," "together for eternity." These are not terms Bhaal would call his servant-like bhaalspawn, nor are they terms Cazador used for his own spawn which were made to be consumed.
What Astarion wants is for you to want him back with the same intensity and devotion as he wants you -- fiery, obsessive, passionate and covetous. Is it healthy? That completely depends: this is a fantasy RPG world wherein characters are covered in the gore of their enemies 80% of the time and about which we're discussing a Dominant/submissive relationship in terms of a vampire master/spawn dynamic. I don't think we - in the real world - can rightfully judge whether or not this kind of relationship is "healthy" in these terms. But you do you.

you know. the term “gaslighting” is being misused so much that it's difficult to figure out if a person is referring to actual gaslighting, or if they're talking about any kind of manipulation or even just a white lie. with the rise of awareness for mental health, the unfortunate downside is that people label everything with psychological terms and spread misinformation. the term “gaslighting” has lost its original meaning and has turned into a sort of buzzword.
it's obvious that this happens in media analyses too, where people are quick to label any kind of undesirable behaviour as “gaslighting”. however, the only exception to this that i've seen so far is catra.
to refresh your memory (or lend you some new information), here's the definition of gaslighting, according to the APA:
To gaslight someone means to manipulate another person into doubting their own perceptions, experiences or understanding of events.
“I think of gaslighting as trying to associate someone with the label 'crazy',” says Paige Sweet, Ph.D., an assistant professor of sociology at the University of Michigan who studies gaslighting in relationships and in the workplace. “It’s making someone seem or feel unstable, irrational and not credible, making them feel like what they’re seeing or experiencing isn’t real, that they’re making it up, that no one else will believe them.”
when we say catra gaslit adora in the show, we mean it. we don't mean that catra just lied to adora or manipulated her (both of which she has done, to her credit).
some common phrases that gaslighters use are along the lines of:
“you're crazy”
“you're just imagining it”
“it's all in your head”
“you're just being dramatic”
“you're making things up”
this ensures that the victim believes that they are the problem and starts questioning their own sanity. if it continues for too long, the victim might actually be driven to a mentally unstable state.
let's see some of these examples with catra, shall we?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
she says all of this word for word. they don't even try to disguise it. and we already know that catra remembered everything or almost everything, at this point. she was not only playing dumb when adora questioned her about it, but further went on to make adora believe that she was going crazy and that she was making everything up.
she also attempts to gaslight scorpia later on, and make her admit that entrapta betrayed them when that is not what happened, and scorpia was there to witness what actually happened.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(i am a bit hesitant to call this “gaslighting” because catra doesn't call scorpia crazy or anything like that, however, she does imply that scorpia was making things up about entrapta trying to save them from the portal.)
and people still have the gall to say that catra never gaslit adora or worse„ that she only did it because she wanted adora to stay. there's no excuse to abuse, manipulation and gaslighting. you can't just woobify an abuser by saying “oh but she just wanted her crush to stay with her 🥺” that's just gross. catra fans say that they empathize with abuse victims but their empathy starts and ends with catra. adora's trauma doesn't matter to them in the slightest, which is why they keep romanticizing this shit.

[Start ID. A drawing of @mieczmaszyna 's character Izzy. In the words of its creator, Izzy is a humanoid robot with a white chassis, oval head, black headset, square green glasses, claws, and a tail resembling a cable plug. Ai wears a cowboy hat, vest decorated by a star and bottle cap, pants with tassels, spurred boots, and a red bandanna. He's viewed from the side, kicking up one leg and holding both arms out in front of itself to shoot finger guns, looking excited and rather jaunty. The background is a dull yellow-green, muddied by the warm reddish tone of the drawing, and in paler green are the words "BANG BANG!!" by ais arms. End ID]

Margaret of Anjou’s visit to Coventry [in 1456], which was part of her dower and that of her son, Edward of Lancaster, was much more elaborate. It essentially reasserted Lancastrian power. The presence of Henry and the infant Edward was recognised in the pageantry. The ceremonial route between the Bablake gate and the commercial centre was short, skirting the area controlled by the cathedral priory, but it made up for its brevity with no fewer than fourteen pageants. Since Coventry had an established cycle of mystery plays, there were presumably enough local resources and experience to mount an impressive display; but one John Wetherby was summoned from Leicester to compose verses and stage the scenes. As at Margaret’s coronation the iconography was elaborate, though it built upon earlier developments.
Starting at Bablake gate, next to the Trinity Guild church of St. Michael, Bablake, the party was welcomed with a Tree of Jesse, set up on the gate itself, with the prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah explaining the symbolism. Outside St. Michael’s church the party was greeted by Edward the Confessor and St. John the Evangelist; and proceeding to Smithford Street, they found on the conduit the four Cardinal Virtues—Righteousness (Justice?), Prudence, Temperance, and Fortitude. In Cross Cheaping wine flowed freely, as in London, and angels stood on the cross, censing Margaret as she passed. Beyond the cross was pitched a series of pageants, each displaying one of the Nine Worthies, who offered to serve Margaret. Finally, the queen was shown a pageant of her patron saint, Margaret, slaying the dragon [which 'turned out to be strictly an intercessor on the queen's behalf', as Helen Maurer points out].
The meanings here are complex and have been variously interpreted. An initial reading of the programme found a message of messianic kingship: the Jesse tree equating royal genealogy with that of Christ had been used at the welcome for Henry VI on his return from Paris in 1432. A more recent, feminist view is that the symbolism is essentially Marian, and to be associated with Margaret both as queen and mother of the heir rather than Henry himself. The theme is shared sovereignty, with Margaret equal to her husband and son. Ideal kingship was symbolised by the presence of Edward the Confessor, but Margaret was the person to whom the speeches were specifically addressed and she, not Henry, was seen as the saviour of the house of Lancaster. This reading tips the balance too far the other way: the tableau of Edward the Confessor and St. John was a direct reference to the legend of the Ring and the Pilgrim, one of Henry III’s favourite stories, which was illustrated in Westminster Abbey, several of his houses, and in manuscript. It symbolised royal largesse, and its message at Coventry would certainly have encompassed the reigning king. Again, the presence of allegorical figures, first used for Henry, seems to acknowledge his presence. Yet, while the message of the Coventry pageants was directed at contemporary events it emphasised Margaret’s motherhood and duties as queen; and it was expressed as a traditional spiritual journey from the Old Testament, via the incarnation represented by the cross, to the final triumph over evil, with the help of the Virgin, allegory, and the Worthies. The only true thematic innovation was the commentary by the prophets.
[...] The messages of the pageants firmly reminded the royal women of their place as mothers and mediators, honoured but subordinate. Yet, if passive, these young women were not without significance. It is clear from the pageantry of 1392 and 1426 in London and 1456 in Coventry that when a crisis needed to be resolved, the queen (or regent’s wife) was accorded extra recognition. Her duty as mediator—or the good aspect of a misdirected man—suddenly became more than a pious wish. At Coventry, Margaret of Anjou was even presented as the rock upon which the monarchy rested. [However,] a crisis had to be sensed in order to provoke such emphasis [...]."

#historicwomendaily#margaret of anjou#my post#henry vi#yeah I don't necessarily agree with Laynesmith's interpretation (that it was essentially Marian with an emphasis on shared sovereignty)#which she herself says is 'admittedly very speculative'#as this book points out that interpretation tips the balance too far on the other side and has a somewhat selective reading#It's also important to remember that this interpretation was not really reflected across wider Lancastrian propaganda at the time#which isn't really talked about - let alone emphasized - as much by historians but remained focused on the King#For example: look at the pro-Lancastrian poem 'The Ship of State' which hails Henry VI as a 'noble shyp made of good tree'#and emphasizes how he was widely supported and defended by many great Lancastrian lords and the crown prince#but not Margaret who was entirely absent#also look at the book 'Knyghthode and Bataile' (presented to Henry) and Fortescue's various pro-Lancastrian texts in the 1460s#even the recording of that Yorkist trial which was iirc reported in the 1459 attainder#all of these were entirely conventional and highlighted the presence and importance of the King. Margaret was not emphasized.#so either the Lancastrians were impossibly inconsistent about what message they actually wanted to convey about the role of their own queen#or the Coventry pageants were not actually meant to emphasize Margaret in the lieu of Laynesmith's interpretation#and would not have been viewed in such a manner by contemporaries#I think we should also keep in mind that we don't really know what Henry VI's condition was like at the time of MoA's entry to Coventry#we know he had been injured in St. Albans and had only just recovered from his second illness#this is especially important to consider since we know he had also arrived at Coventry before Margaret but much more discreetly#and was not welcomed by any pageants that we know of. This is VERY unusual and can be best explained if we consider the fact that he#may have simply not been in the right state (be it physical or state of mind) for it at the time#in which case the pageants for Margaret should be viewed as more of a improvisation/cover-up/temporary measure to bolster prestige#or Henry may have deliberately taken a more discreet role to emphasize the position of his heir - especially important after the long wait#imo I think Kipling's interpretation (ie: that they addressed Margaret but really referenced the prince & heir) makes a lot more sense:#'Coventry [...] regarded Margaret's entry as a kind of triumph-by-proxy: the Queen entered the city but Coventry received its Prince'#though I think he tends to view Margaret as more of a cipher (and has a very questionable view of Henry VI) which I also don't agree with.#The pageants very much DID focus on and reference her but they most prominently emphasized her 'motherhood and duties as queen'#ie: I think Kipling and Laynesmith tip too far on opposite sides and I think this interpretation takes the most realistic middle ground

I printed out DoS's 1st draft for editing and my plan was to read it like a novel first for the Experience(TM) and I just.
I lowkey hate it rn.
I know I don't actually hate it and it's just that I'm too "in" this WIP at the moment since I recognize my strengths in the writing, but I need to be physically restrained to stop myself from working on it. Reading this WIP is not a want, it is a NEED!!! But I also NEED to take a break from it!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
