Yeah I have more-

So. I said that he was made internally out of metal, which serves as a skeleton for him. It forms his body into a stiff form. Anyway, you get the idea. But what if the things that are connecting his limbs are magnets?

Like, you know those little circular magnets?

These things.

Here's a representation(warning, creepy ass face)

The little magnets bassicly connect his entire body. And the thing is that I can be pulled off. This means Lou's arms or legs can actually be pulled off. The factory placed magnets there on Lou's body to make it stronger, to not make him break easily?

Maybe back then, something happened to Lou, and that made the factory improve his inner state to not let it happen again? I'm not so sure.

Here's some more concepts I drew

Maybe from the multiple washer events after his dethronement, the magnets maybe went like, a bit off? I forgot the word, but I think the magnets would become dull? I googled that unless the water is super hot, it messes up a magnets' domains. So I don't think the dullness is gonna be happening.

I like to think Lou would try to fix his limbs and stuff, making sure that it hasn't rusted or something. He would causually pull off his arm out of nowhere. He would just, *pluck* a limb off and re adjust it. He would scare the shit out of everyone.

And when I was a kid, I played with a lot of magnets. I also liked the fact that when you stack a magnet on top of another, it twists without any fuss. You can just twist it in any direction whatsoever.

So imagine Lou jist spinning his hand around in many impossible ways, or he turns his entire head around. That would be so cool or it could be horryfing.

Bonus if it was in DBTAU.

General Simon brainrot sketch page :3, as per usual, explanations under a cut. Apologies if my posts tend to be kinda huge and difficult to scroll past, I try to do the cuts to make sure they do the least inconvenience to anyone! (>-< ;)

Expression practice! Simon is feeling the weight of his situation rn alas :(. I’ve always imagined him being panicked the whole game; the overarching entire game timer really gives a pretty good feeling of dread imo. The two doodles at the bottom were attempts at multiple ideas I’ve seen floating around about the curse, but they’re kinda bad in execution looking at them no tbh. But the first one is based on the idea that the curse gives some vampire traits like sharp teeth and would probably lead to proper vampirism if he were to die from it. The second was general attempt at like skull practice and comparing facial features to skull structure, but oh my god the page kept smudging and I tried making it look ok with some random blood on there but it just made it look even sillier 💀.

These next two are based on two random like liminal space images I ran into on Pinterest and I drew them mostly because I suck at backgrounds and idk Simon’s Quest itself is like Castlevania: Liminal Space Edition a lot of the time, so it fits X,,,,D. The first one I really liked the composition of the path on the far side contrasted to the trees. Imagine the water is the purple cursed swamp :3. Hopefully Simon has laurels just standin around in there.

This second liminal space for Simon to be in was this neat nighttime photo of a graveyard! Trees are HARD TO DRAW, especially just in pencil and a solid black background. There’s blood on the ground and stuff cause he was just fighting some monsters, probably those two headed lizard guys. It’s the awkward stillness after clearing out an area of enemies.

The pose for this one is based on the LOL~lots of laugh Miku figure lmao 💀💀💀

Simon is very fun to put in exaggerated poses! Especially cause you have to exaggerate them more to get the same ratio of pose to negative space because muscles and armor. I had no idea how to make metal belt armor thingies sit in a like legs up floating sort of pose like this so they kinda bend a little weird but eh he looks cute otherwise. The other doodles present are one that says “brainrot” which is kinda making fun of my own dedication to an NES character 💀 and also cause haha rot like the curse. Also, teeny tiny Simon with a heart!!! :3

Yippie! Simon posing again! I think the first pose was inspired by this like random old anime style angel figure??? Idk I think she was just an original character figure and the pose was pretty different, I just used the reference mostly for the arm position. Anyway, he’s vibin, just sitting curled up and momentarily comfy. Alas, the horrors persist in the second doodle that was an attempt at showing how the curse kinda deteriorates him but he just kinda ended up having a scarily snatched waist and it looks more stylized than like sick. Also the armor kinda bends around him in a way that makes it look like it shrunk with him which is so dumb lmaooooo (XwX). I’ll have to revisit the concept eventually idk, just look at his face for this one XD. Hahaha tiny doodle based on Larval Rin on the left there, nothing to see here—

The main doodle is just Simon looking into the distance bewildered and holding the whip, standard stuff. There’s also a side profile doodle and an attempt at drawing crying again cause I was getting kinda rusty at both of those things.

Simon Belmont but if he was 2000s anime lol. A fun little style experiment, I might keep this as like another secondary art style. There’s also some doodles of a hanged man skeleton, the eyes of Vlad, a skeleton hand, and a couple little chibi Simon’s of various expressions.

More 2000s anime Simon, but in a more silly way like the art style change for joke sections. One is him just goofily holding up Dracula’s head, but it’s contrasted immediately with a more gritty usual art style doodle of him with harsh shading lol. Get you a man who can do both I guess 💀

I gotta practice more on backgrounds and composition and stuff, probably also get some curse effects consistent augh. Lately I’ve been on and off working on random things or just staring into space tired, getting back to using social media is hard and an exhausting uphill battle unfortunately (_ _ ;). Sometimes I feel like I should probably split these up into multiple posts to make things more visible and to put more focus on specific drawings, but idk I don’t really want to, it just feels weird to me breaking up a doodle page like that, if that makes sense??? Eh idk.

I could be totally wrong with the instrument here but I’m having thoughts

In Just a Man immediately after Odysseus says “how could I hurt you?” the next couple notes that play sound like a trumpet to me - which leads me down the rabbit hole of “this is Odysseus being ruthless in order to protect his family and kingdom by killing an actual baby” and the whole Poseidon is represented by a trumpet and his theme of ruthlessness is mercy whICH JUST????????? THERE IS SO MUCH TO SAY ABOUT THAT

#epic the musical #personal #genuinely am not sure if that’s a trumpet it could be Ody’s neon guitar that plays when he’s being emotional/vulnerable?#but it sounds like a trumpet to me and I can’t stop thinking about what if it IS a trumpet and how that could relate Odysseus and his action #to Poseidon and ruthlessness being mercy #because that act is NOT a mercy to Odysseus it is something that actively haunts him with guilt #but it is ruthlessness being mercy to baby #Astyanax because it was a quick death that the baby will not suffer for #and that quick death COULD be viewed as Odysseus being merciful to himself in a twisted way as well #because the act itself was not something he would ever view as mercy for the impact it had on him #but HOW he decided to do it can be seen as mercy for both him and little Astyanax due to the lack of suffering #during the actual death #all Odysseus had to do was drop him and all Astyanax had to do was…… fall #by NO MEANS does that make it any easier of an act for him to do which is made very clear in Just a Man and later songs where he speaks of #his guilt for all that he has done in his life #but it is still ruthlessness AND mercy based on how you view the actions and the thought process and influence of those actions #so if that IS a trumpet or is another instrument that is meant to sound like a trumpet #then that’s fascinating to connect that act to Poseidon so early on before we ever hear the word ruthless in the music at all #although if it’s Ody’s guitar then that’s also brilliant bc the whole song is him being vulnerable and those few notes stand out #so strongly to me because it is near silent when they play

being a little avid nature lover and running a blog half dedicated to The Whole Thing versus my absolutely awful phobia of flowers

I hope this doesn't send off anon because that'd be embarrassing but as an ex-bookworm trying to get back into reading I wanted to ask you; do you have any advice for getting back into it? my problem is that I used to read a lot when I was a teenager and had a lot of free time so I could get in the mood for it and relax with a book. now I'm a grown woman with a 9 to 5 and because of that I just end up doing nothing but scrolling when I have free time, I feel like there's no point in reading if I can't actually relax... realistically I know that's not true though so I wondered if you might have some tips or tricks for me 😭 you seem like you have a busy life (uni, friends, projects) too and yet you don't seem to struggle with that. what's your secret?

i read literally any enjoyable book i can get my hands on. don't think because you're an adult woman you have to only read non-fiction or something "serious" or something dense and long. it's okay to pick up stuff that's really light-hearted and easy to read (like mdzs) or something fiction that's enthralling (cormorman strike). sometimes i press myself to only read super purposeful books that even though i love the topics, can make you feel a bit sick of reading bc of mental fatigue (so i have to take breaks from my sociology or feminist lit). gives me more breathing room between heavy serious topics with light hearted and fun and engaging fiction.

i would advise trying to find a book that is just. devour-able. even if it's not "high brow" or even adult, if you like YA read a YA, a lot of those books are usually very consumable and can help relight the spark but are also "easy" reads that you can zoom through. we can knock the idea of "tik tok books" and "booktok" but in one respect they got one thing right about motivating people to read: people love a devour-able book. something fun and engaging, whether that be romance or fantasy or whatever the girlies are reading over there lol. there is a benefit to sharing stuff that while on the surface may seem silly, can actually just be a fun read, and reading should be fun. if you're not having fun, why the heck would you sit down again with a more challenging book later on?

basically, i always return to what made me love reading in the first place. when i was little, i sucked at reading and was in remedial classes all through elementary. the summer before 6th grade, my friend let me borrow his sea of monsters book. both he and another girl i knew were voracious readers. and i quickly learned why. when you have the right books and learn what genres and "voices" you like reading, suddenly it's the most fun thing in the world to get sucked into a story. i love fantasy and sci-fi, so i always return home to them when i'm in a slump bc it's what i can consume all night without a care in the world. i always just try to find ways to connect back to those feelings towards reading :)

#key notes: don't worry about what you're reading or how others might look at you for reading what you like #have fun always and when a book stops being fun and feels more taxing to read than anything find another book #it's okay to read a little below what you actually can read if you want something quick and simple like a YA to reignite your spark #my all time favorite author is actually a YA author!#try and remember what made you love reading as a kid and what genres made you feel that the book was 'devourable' maybe even re-read them #also its okay to not read every single day don't pressure yourself #i sometimes have no time or energy to do it either #hence finding a book that does make you feel like time is going by in the blink of an eye bc you're so into it is important for relaxation

I know confession time isn't exactly for advice but at least hear me out: You might be putting too much pressure on yourself to be perfect. From one creative to another I know what that feels like- it's a sisyphusian problem of working up, up, up towards that ideal version of our vision only to look back and see we never left the starting line.

The thing is, that trying to create that ideal version of our creative idea just... It's not going to happen. It was like that with Heat's headcanon piece, sure it was perfect when I decided to publish it but you end up looking back with new experience and new knowledge that changes your creative thinking and suddenly it's not so perfect anymore. The thing about your Quick (and I don't want to try and exactly characterize him here, you know him better than I do) is that, to me hes an enigma, hes something completely disconnected from you or I and I think that's where the issues start to arise.

You said it here, that your portrayal is completely different from you making it so hard in practice to get that accurate interpretation. I think you should really reassess what you want out of having Quick as a muse- Do you want to have fun? Do you want to be strong? Why are you writing him in the first place?

The thing I've learned recently, with my more recent writing is that I'm not writing to be accurate to anything (you really can't, not with mega man oh NO) and as much as I try to educate myself on current and known science regarding the robotics field (I still need to finish that article)-

Sometimes something is just. Cool. It's badass, it hits that certain spot that makes you sit up in your chair or shift because the energy you just got thinking about that idea was too much to handle.

You were the one who told me that rp is all about fun, it's a game! It's art. I wanna return the favor and say maybe what you're trying to do is not make Quick accurate, but fun. Maybe then you'll find your ideal portrayal.

Yeah if you need an entire board of doctors and advocates to tell the difference between two things, then the distinctions between said things are not "obvious". If they were, you'd be able to tell the difference on your own, regardless of your knowledge base, as that is sort of what "obvious" means :/

If anyone is interested, Festival de Parintins is going on right now. It lasts three nights startig today.

I wanted to watch live this year but unfortunately I'm too tired and can't stay up, so I'm offering my comically small number of followers the chance to know a brazilian tradition other than carnival. Enjoy.

(I say as if I hadn't only known the festival tangentially until last year, just in time to miss the presentations... but I've seen some clips and became team Caprichoso since then.)

#quick rundown: Caprichoso is the black ox and its colors are blue and white #Garantido is the white ox and goes with red and white #they're rivals and each has a two-three hour long presentation each night #they're judged on a series of things that I don't know the specifics to talk about #but basically it's the story of an ox (the owners favorite as a matter of fact) that gets killed to satisfy the cravings of a pregnant woma #who was the wife of one of the workers #the owner is upset and calls a shaman to bring the ox back to life #in short it's a celebration of the ox's ressurection and the festivities happen all across brazil mostly in a street and popular fashion #but Parintins is the most famous for having the two emblematic oxes and an arena dedicated to them #all of that and I didn't cite the tale is known as Boi Bumbá or Bumba-meu-boi #and that the ox is represented by a person inside a 'costume'#anyway I'm beat and REALLY need to sleep so I hope it made at least some sense #gnight #p.s.: boi means ox. Right now I'm too tired to remember what bumba/bumbá means but I think it might have something to do with drums??#and meu is mine/my so boi bumbá is literally ox bumbá and bumba-meu-boi would be something like my bumba ox. explaining just in case #now I'm done for real bye #edit: or bumba my ox as in verbing the term in the imperative...I'm not actually sure how to translate. you know what just go with bumbá ox #have I said I need to sleep??
