I love Steph's origin as told in the Secret Origins 80 page giant- I just overall think it strengthens her character by giving her a lot of pathos and adding to her heroism (which isn't something writers were focused on in her actual intro in detective comics #647 since she was just meant to act as a plot device back then) BUT there is one tiny detail in it i will begrudge, and that is the portrayal of her having a minor love at first sight moment for tim
Secret origins 80 page giant, ID in alt
(or well, technically this was their second meeting in that story (the brick was the first) so...love at second sight?)
Mostly because Stephanie showed no interest in her introduction and only showed romantic feelings towards Tim AFTER this moment here:
Robin (1993) #4, ID in alt
Straight up the progression here goes:
The adventure in 'tec where they first meet -> Tim investigating the same crime scene as Steph -> she beats him up not knowing it's him at first, apologizes but says he shouldn't have scared her -> he remembers her/the moniker she goes by -> they talk about plot for a few pages -> Stephanie starts flirting
Robin (1993) #4, ID in alt
Which...is so fascinating to me and says so much about Stephanie. She highlights the fact that Tim "remembered" her. Like. Steph. Girl. This is our bar? It's sweet but kind of speaks to how much Stephanie is ignored at home/how little and sporadically she's shown interacting with her peers (and rarely ever the same kids twice). Her idea of peak romance is just...being on someone's mind even when you're not there.
Kind of also adds layers to Steph's proclivity towards jealousy later on, a manifestation of her insecurity and loneliness (though don't get it twisted, she's not written this way bc Dixon and co think it's an interesting character flaw, they wrote it bc they think it's an inherent character flaw of (particularly young) women/girls, which is very apparent in how he approaches Ariana's character as well from what I've read)
Also the fact that Steph becomes so smitten for Tim almost immediately after this is (a few issues later she aggressively flirts with him during AN ACTIVE HOSTAGE SITUATION. WHERE SHE'S THE HOSTAGE) again is kind of a mixture of kind of funny and sad. One boy is nice to her once and she's fully ready to wife him. Girl you are deranged (affectionate) (concerned)

okay I keep seeing people talking about how bi-han slander takes the form of "he is evil beyond redemption, his actions can never be justified no matter what, he is a villain" but most of the gross misinterpretation I see on this site is more "he did absolutely nothing wrong and could never be mean to kuai liang and canon is wrong actually and if you disagree then you just don't Get Him like I do 💅". which I thought was a joke at first??? why are y'all trying to take away his teeth??? enough character analysis posts that are just bending him into the shape you want him to be. please. he's misguided, yes, he's also a bitch. sure he wants what's best for the clan but he's also so selfish that he thinks Everyone Else is wrong and refuses counsel. he's ambitious to a fault and made a stupid ass decision. OWN IT

Maybe this doesn’t need to be said, but Im feeling awful about it, so -- to any mutuals that might notice Im not following them anymore, I'm sorry about that. I've just seen too many posts on my dash that I have no way of blocking because they're not tagged in any way and they're distressing enough it's turning one of the only places I considered a safe space not safe for me anymore. So for my own mental health, I had to unfollow. I Will refollow in the future and I still love y'all, but I just-- I can’t. Ive been noticing some very worrying stuff about my mental and emotional state and it's just too much currently. I hope it's at least an understandable decision, and I wish y'all are having a good day out there 💗

I’ll see you guys very soon in the next chapter 💕💕
Feel free to let me know as well if you have a specific song in mind 🥰

I've hit this fun mental block where none of the books left on my 2023 TBR interest me very much, and I keep looking at aaaalllll my other books and going "why don't you just read one of them?" But my brain is like, "NO! new books are for good readers who finish their goals!!"

Idea for @bunnieswithknives two of us au which ive been thinking about for a while:
Red's been alone in the machine room for a long long while, but one day, Duck just shows up there. Idk how he got there (maybe he glitched in or something) but he chills with red for a bit and then leaves
Later, he comes back. They chat again and he leaves, and this becomes a consistent routine. It's the first person red's talked to since he last saw david, and the first person he can really call a true friend(because a certain person certainly isnt anymore)
Duck tells him about the world and what he thinks of it. Red already knows all about it, since he can see everything through the machine, but enjoys listening to him nonetheless.
Sometimes duck just explores the room and tells red about like what the backside of the machine looks like and sometimes duck climbs on top of red's head and just sits there looking into the dark horizon.
Not a lot happens in red's life, but this is the one thing he always looks forwards to, day to day
Eventually when they escape duck and Red stick together since they help each other do what the other cant (duck cant do a lot of things on account of being so small, and red's memory problems interfere with normal life a lot more than duck's do)
What yall think?
