I think Robin would find out that sometimes people call their queerplatonic partner "zucchinis" absolutely hilarious and never refer to Steve as anything else. He's her zucchini. Her sweet yam. Her pumpkin pie. Steve giggles at it and says "because we're fruity!"

They don't get divorced to get married to their romantic partners because that's a hassle and also they don't want to. What would happen to the children. To the cats. To the fish the cats long to eat that they are expressly forbidden from eating because their mother and father are cruel and deserve jail for a thousand years. They are each other's PERSON, no romantic relationship will change that. This causes some stir when it's revealed Steve is Eddie's partner and also Steve has a wife. Eddie Munson, beloved queer metalhead/rocker is a homewrecker?? They try to explain! They do!

Steve is like 'okay well we were best friends and soulmates and very queer in the 80's it was just easier to get married especially seeing as I wanted my parents to have nothing to do with anything incase I died, so no brainer. We already lived together, it didn't really change anything except we were able to adopt!" "But don't you want to marry someone you actually love?" "I love Robin more than anything else besides our children??" "Not...what about Eddie?" "Yeah I love him he's my partner. But I don't want to marry him I'm already married to Robin." "But you aren't in love with her" "not romantically no. We're what the kids call 'zucchinis'" "I'm sorry what" "zucchinis! It's what some people call a queerplatonic partner! Like, a life partner that isn't romantic but is still the most important person! Rob thinks it's a very funny name and I gotta say, with the unconventional nature of this type of relationship I agree it fits."

Steve gets on twitter and is like "sorry to everyone who doesn't understand platonically spending your whole life with someone but I'm different" and then logs tf off and lets people freak the hell out in the replies.

And Eddie is like yes my partner is married. No he's not cheating. Yes we were together when he got married. No I'm not jealous. Yes I knew he was getting married I know you know this I was the best man. No he's not getting a divorce to marry me now same sex marriage is legal. Yes I'm fine with it. No it's not a problem. Yes I understand ya'll don't get it. No I don't actually care you don't get it. Yes Robin and Steve are the most important person in each other's lives. No I'm not hurt by that they were like that when I met them. Yes I love him. No I'm not worried they're actually in a secret heterosexual relationship that's ridiculous and stupid this interview is over.

Lavender Vanilla Cake 🎂 💐

#erin bakes #OK SO! unfortunately the lavender torani syrup is not really a good way to get lavender flavor in the cake #HOWEVER I know that now! and I already have actual food grade lavender extract en route SO! I can revisit this experiment again #HOWEVER HOWEVER! the piping came out OK! the coloring was good! I'm happy I matched the cake & frosting like... perfect #the sugar pearls in the middle of the flowers look cute! #the flowers aren't perfect but I was using docotored store bought frosting so #they were never gonna look GREAT #although the sugar flowes I ordered to decorate with also were a bust. they were supposed to have sugar roses in the pack #but there were NO roses. ZERO. just flat little daisies. I was PISSED. $16 for nothing. so mad I left a review like rrrr 😠 #so I just decided to say fuck it! and do the whole thing with drop flowers and practice piping #and using the plating tweezers I got #the cake itself was good! like I said a little disappointing that there wasn't much actual lavender :( #I definitely noticed a difference in the crumb of the cake also cause of the torani syrup #which I was most worried about cause the sugar in the syrup I wasn't sure if it would make it mushy af #but idk it came out cute! so not a total bust!

the main problem I've had with trying to do 'your PC as other races' art is that when other people have done it, including ryoko kui's changeling comparisons, they always keep the character's original palette-- and that ends up being an immediate stumbling block for me when the first place I'd be inclined to start is with Elyss, whose main point of difference from an ordinary human is that she is green

#and with elyss like-- okay being an ordinary human would affect not only her bone structure and skin but even her eye color #because it's a pretty-close-to-natural sort of lavender grey BUT I already know human!elyss would have brown eyes #so does 'racebend your blorbo' human!elyss also look like theoretically canon human!elyss who looks like her mom? #in that case what about halfelf or gnome elyss-- am I basing those on human elyss or on canon elyss? #because elyss' light eyes are specifically part of her Water Themed Palette-- #-- but light eyes with dark skin and hair are really common naturally for gnomes and elves where they're more rare in humans #AND you start to run into the problem of 'here's a gnome with gnomish features and also a different palette' does it even look like her?? #and if I have to take 'what would be normal for this humanoid' into account for elyss whose race is such an unusual case-- #-- it gets me into the weeds with like... well specifically melliwyk who has dark skin white hair and bright turquoise eyes #that's not going to occur naturally in ANY other race except MAYBE a very unusual elf but like... #okay so do I just keep her palette anyway? but that feels kind of weird compared to how I have to handle elyss?? #ALSO I honestly feel like 'how does the hair color and texture translate' is just as valid as ear shape and bone structure for exploring-- #-- the different morphologies of dnd races- and just as interesting to me- but you run into the 'are they still recognizable' issue again #TL;DR MY BIG PROBLEM IS OVERTHINKING IT AS ALWAYS #about me #my OCs #elyss #melliwyk

I love Midnights and also she’s struggling so so much and I can hear the pain so clearly.

out of curiosity; in replies/tags, tell me what location in pokemon games is one that you "hang out" in, by which I mean visit and spend time in for reasons completely unrelated to gameplay or story. part 1

It's a bright May morning, and the commentators are discussing who the Indiana Pacers are going to select. It's a bit of a buzz, there's a rumour of a dark horse candidate. The Commissioner steps up and shakes out the paper, saying clearly into the mic "the Indiana Pacers select Steve Harrington, from Roane County Community College." His face makes it clear he has no goddamn clue who or what college this is. It's fine.

Steve stands, smiling. Robin kisses his cheek and Dustin throws his arms around him before he's shuttled off to get a Pacers ballcap and take a picture with the NBA commissioner, and then to the press room to answer questions.

The reporters have dozens for him, a buzz with the shock of a community college getting a player drafted. It's the first time they'll really be able to talk to him, and he's a bit nervous. He handles it all with as much grace as he can, until someone from the Chicago Sun-Times asks

"you're from Hawkins, a town that's seen its fair share of tragedy over the last number of years. Did that have any sway over your decision?"

Steve's smile turns softer as he answers "Oh, yes. I went to R-tripC because it was close. I've got friends and family in Hawkins still, and I wasn't planning on moving any farther than Chicago. It's...a hard place to leave, after everything." he can tell which reporters have no idea what Happened in Hawkins, the confused brows, scribbles in the margins of notebooks. The Chicago Sun-Times report simply nods. "My being here is just...the result of a few lucky circumstances. The Ospreys, we're a div-four team. Not even supposed to be in any competition for March Madness. But the NCAA decided to try letting non-div one teams on the bracket...not sure if they ever will again considering our loss." there are a few chuckles around the room. The RCCC Ospreys had lost pretty spectacularly in the first round. "But, that's the only reason a scout saw me play. And the fact that the scout was for the Pacers..." Here, he doesn't mention being approached by a representative of the Sacramento Kings as well. "That was something that worked. I've always loved playing ball, but if it hadn't been with the Pacers, I'd be content playing with small local leagues in Indy."

"Has this not been a dream of yours? Playing in the NBA?"

Steve chuckles. "I've played sports my whole life. Obviously when I daydreamed about winning the Championships, or swimming at the Olympics, who didn't? But. Ah, it really came out of left field, if you pardon the baseball analogy." he swallows some of the water in front of him. "I wasn't expecting to be approached by anyone about the NBA. I played on a college team that most people don't know exists, that barley qualified for march madness and got eliminated by the end of the third quarter. I was getting my teaching degree, with guys who were getting horticulture certificates or degrees in Art history or business to help their family Ma 'n Pop store or bio degrees to use to go to masters programs in Indy. We weren't playing for dreams or glory. We played because we love the game, and like each other enough to be a cohesive team." he shrugs. "I was going to move to Indianapolis or Chicago with my wife anyways. This is just...sprinkles. Y'know? I have what I need, my loved ones are happy and healthy and safe, this is just sprinkles on the sundae."

Steve leans back and sighs. He's being signalled to wrap it up. "I'm not taking this opportunity for granted, and I am looking forward to working with and getting to know my teammates. I'll be working hard to make my hometown proud. Thank you."

Happy Queer Media Monday!

Today: Badhai Do (2022) (Title translates to “Give the Good News”)

Badhaai Do is an Indian comedy movie about a gay police officer and a lesbian sports teacher, who get married in hopes of getting their families to stop nagging them about being single. Hijinks ensue, as they both pursue their own romantic relationships on the side, try to keep up the semblance of a good couple, and need to find an explanation about why after a year, they still don’t have any children.

It is a funny movie, that is clearly made with the aim to humanize queer people and champion equal rights, which it is really good at. It also has a very realistic feeling to it. I have no doubt that many queer people have lived, and are still living, this exact same life. It is especially nice that, all in all, it is a happy story. We as a community do tend to have a slight tendency to assume that the only way of being happy is to be 100% out, which is why we really need more stories like this or The Blue Caftan (2022), where gay people in more traditional societies live perfectly happy and fulfilled lives.

Badhaai Do is available on Netflix.
