A contrast I find really interesting between Off Broadway Heathers and UK Heathers is the difference in Veronica’s motivation in taking the bomb and her actions between DGW reprise and I Am Damaged.
In the Off Broadway version, Veronica is shown as actively suicidal. I mean she has the line “dear diary, the irony here is that I never got the chance to write my own suicide note” (which, side note, I am so mad that they cut). Her holding onto the bomb is painted less as something she has to do because she won’t make it back in time and more as her in that moment genuinely wanting to die. JD even points out that she’ll die if she keeps holding onto it but her response is “I don’t deserve to live”*, echoing her declaration in DGW reprise. Even when JD tries to take it off her, her only response is “get away from me” which doesn’t do anything to imply otherwise. In a weird way, the first few lines of I Am Damaged could almost be read as him talking her off the ledge, so to speak. It’s only when Veronica realises she can’t stop him that she lets him take it.
Meanwhile, the West End version portrays Veronica as dying for her beliefs, but not because she wants to die. She even says as much, “I guess that’s a belief I’m willing to die for”. Furthermore, they explicitly show her hurting her ankle in the fight in the boiler room and JD tells her “you’ll never make it, not on that ankle”. So her keeping holding the bomb is portrayed more as a tragic consequence of those circumstances rather than because she doesn’t want to live. Finally when JD tries to take it off her, she says no because she thinks he’s tricking her, not because she doesn’t want to live. 
If I had to summarise the difference, I’d say Off Bway!Veronica wanted to die because she hated herself, WE!Veronica wanted to die so that other people to live. Yes, the West End version still has the line “no-one here deserves to die, except for me and the monster I created”, but combined with the changed lines it again comes off more as dying for her beliefs than her being suicidal.
I think it’s an interesting contrast and I really want to know why they changed it. I personally prefer the Off Bway version, mainly because I feel like the changes contribute to the sanitising and Mary Sue-ification that the West End production did for Veronica. The West End makes her into an almost martyr, but in the Off Bway version, you see just what a messy and struggling character she really is. 
*And after she says this, JD replies “I respectfully... disagree”. Which I am very annoyed that they cut, because it’s a fantastic exchange.

I don’t know why but post-Scherzo Doctor and Charley content got me feeling like: 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫
STILL! It just won’t go away, bruh! Scherzo did things to my brain, man! I wouldn’t have it any other way, but this is getting ridiculous!
I feel like even pre-Scherzo would have me spiraling! Like Scherzo has seeped into all their vibes, there is no escape from the traumatic hell scape. It happened, and now it’ll never have not happened for me. Probably even in the stuff before it. I just can’t escape! 😂
