Like, I understand that his actions are irrevocably immoral and cruel, but at the same time was it not cruel for him to constantly witness love and devotion, only for him to be hit and hurt and shunned when he begged for that same love? That since he could not have love, he would have fear and hate, and then went to exact his revenge on the one person, the ONE person, he thought would understand him and possibly love him, only for that person to prove his inner thoughts of "I AM a monster," by reacting with the same horror and fear of when he was created?

The fact that when that person, who then dedicated his life to hunting this creature after Adam murdered his dearest ones, died, the creature mourned over his loss and felt regret???? The way that he felt the deep cut and disgustingness of his actions, but could not change them??

Thinking about how most of the time when you have the option to stay quiet during a companion quest you get approval for letting them handle it and sometimes even get disaproval for talking over them

And then with Shadowheart's quest speaking up with Viconia not only gives a +5(while *keep silent* gives nothing) but also if you don't do that she will look genuinely scared when Viconia asks you to hand her over

#girl just wants someone to love her and stand up for her😭 #I've been choosing to stay silent for all my pt's since I'm so used to letting the companions handle their own quests #so I always get the scared look at Viconia's offer #which is heartbreaking but makes perfect sense #she's spent most of her life being used and abused by her caretakers whose love was so desperate for #of course when confronted with that trauma she's gonna have a moment of doubt in regards to the person she loves now #but turns out just standing up for her beforehand cuts that panic short! #anyway I just think it's a very interesting character detail that having someone vocally have her back #is more important than leading the confrontation herself #bg3 #shadowheart #also not to get overly self-indulgent #but you know that one poem about how to the author being butch means this feeling of chivalry towards other girls? #that feeling is part of why this romance works so well for me #Shadowheart isn't weak and she is the hero of her own story #but you do kinda get to be her knight in shining armor so to speak you know? #larian did a great job of balancing that with still making sure she has enough agency and stands on her own #and without ever making it feel like the romance is mainly geared towards men #I appreciate that

Having all of this happen so quickly and with so many flashbacks but not the taxi fear flashback is fascinating. Because I think a lot of this is Day's fear of the person he sees himself as in memories he has and how he can remember how he feels in those moments but it feels totally alien to him.

He loves Itt but he doesn't trust his own emotions and so he keeps fighting with his own feelings and that creates this dichotomy of how much he is remembering their relationship and his love but not remembering himself. And the fully clothed shower? Yeah. There's a lot going on as he slowly regains memories and bits and pieces of the person he became.

Right now, Day is in an inbetween, between who he was and who he became and who he is and that has turned him, in a lot of ways, into a monster. And he is awful and he is being awful on purpose because he looks at what he had, what he has, and he doesn't believe it because it doesn't make sense.

And the show isn't shying away from how awful he's being and how everyone else sees that and how the people around them are telling him he's wrong and are protecting Itt as much as he'll let them and it's an interesting examination of how far people will go for love even when it's actively hurting them.
