i love when people make parallels between law and robin + their reaction to luffy.

this is. about the dialogue between Bonifacio and Rizal, the impact that one had on the other, the way Rizal's novels could spark desire for freedom like a wildfire that will not be tamed. there's an element of 'I would have gone through life half asleep if I never met you,' to it. the linked tragedies, the characters from the novels themselves seem to echo forward onto Bonifacio and Rizal in their own way as well.

i can’t explain why but one of the funniest things about jimmy and kim is the fact they have a queen size bed and not a king size bed. jimmy used to sleep on a fold out twin size bed so his standards are pathetically low, and Kim i think doesn’t feel the need to upgrade since she’s practical and jimmy doesn’t care. and it’s just so funny to me because they could easily afford a king size bed but they’re so codependent and focused on everything else they just never bother to upgrade. always sleeping right next to each other on that too-small queen size bed even when they’re fighting

One of my fav suggestions about Why Ravenous (1999) Flopped is that it's just an absolutely unholy mishmash of European and US film sensibilities in the 90s. I think that this could also be why it's gaining traction currently... compared to the 90s, I think the modern filmgoer picks up on both threads without trouble. Like. It's arty! It's gory!
