the entire reason tart started adventuring was to be a hero, the biggest damn hero if possible, bc heroes don't get forgotten and cast aside. but there is a downside to this: the bigger you are, the less of a person you become to other people. youre not you anymore but Something Else. that something is free for other people to define, and suddenly it doesnt matter to them if you stand with good, if its convenient to them then youre evil now. people can just say you murdered the sultana for power and, well, of course thats true. but then. the good side applies this too? of course youd fight for them, youre the hero! and isnt it better to be assumed to be on the good guys side? theyre your friends, too. but this sure has stopped being about you, and instead about The Hero, huh?

because for all that tart has ceased to be a person before a hero to the world, the same doesnt apply to zenos. no shes not a person to him either, but "fellow warrior" is close enough.

tart genuinely likes zenos. knowing that he recognizes something in her thats the same as him, that rly lit a fire tart hasnt felt in a while. theyre very close matches: if anyone can survive zenos, its tart, if anyone can kill tart, its zenos. theyre equals! man it feels good to have an equal. when it feels like even your friends are using you, its nice to have something that feels real.

except its not. because its worse! tart isnt a person to zenos. shes not the hero either. "fellow warrior" doesnt mean friend. it means "a source of dopamine".

shinryu is such a betrayal. its not about them fighting as warriors anymore. zenos is a dragon now. and like, fuck, at this point tart the hero cant even be faced by a person anymore, its gotta be a dragon. youve moved so far from being a human!! she could shrug off thordans "what the fuck are you" accusation last expansion, but not anymore!! if even zenos has to become a dragon to fight her then tart is for real some kind of abomination of nature.

when zenos kills himself that is it. theres no chance for tart to go back being human now. its painfully clear already. thats why she cuts contact w the world afterwards. being a hero is the only thing that exists for you. dont bother trying to be a person when youre not one anymore

I kinda wonder, what could bakugou do (hori write bakugou to do) to make him less popular with the "anti" crowd. Like He was a horrid child no doubt and people who try to put blame on Deku or lessen the terrible shit bakugou did aren't great. But as we don't rly see it, we have to assume bakugous behaviour wasn't stopped, we only ever saw his mum "punishing" him when he was being rude after getting kiddnapped. Nothing will excuse what bakugou did, but he has stopped? He's overall a harsh person but he's not harrassing and bullying people anymore, specifically not deku, he's trying to attone for what he did to deku and has now apologised for it. His behaviour was never viewed as justified or good in the series, he's a scary figure in middle school, we're not meant to like his behaviour, so the series itself hasn't justified his actions.

As someone who relate to both bakugou and deku more than I'd like to admit (never told someone to jump tho, that's fucked lol) so I can 100% understand not liking or even hating bakugou but as someone who's not 15 anymore, looking back I also made a lot of really shitty decisions and like bakugou have tried to make up for it, and like deku I was 'friends' with people who hurt me.

Hey there, anon! I think I’ve spoken about this only tangentially and/or in my main Bakugo meta, which is too big for anyone sane to read. So yeah, let’s chat here!

For me personally—and that’s all I can ever do: speak personally. I think it’s important to keep in mind that there is no single solution to please the “anti” crowd. Each fan will be looking for something slightly different in Bakugo’s character, much of which might contradict what a “stan” is currently enjoying. Given how charged a character he is, I'm not sure it's possible to get the entire fandom to like him—what I’m looking for hinges on having a different reading of the story than you seem to. Meaning, I think the series does justify his behavior. Not in any overt, super obvious way like having all the characters go, “Wow, Bakugo! I sure do love how you threaten people all the time. That’s super cool and heroic!” Things are rarely that straightforward. Rather, it’s in a more subtle, but consistent manner that paints a rather conclusive picture across hundreds of chapters.

Simply put, Bakugo is continually rewarded for his actions. Or, if not outright rewarded, his actions are ignored in a way that implies silent acceptance. Characters may not always like what he does... but they're willing to let it slide because Bakugo's heroism was always treated as a given, not something he had to earn and prove.

With the ever necessary disclaimer that I’m not fully caught up yet, here’s a list of some of the things that stood out to me in the first half of the series:

Bakugo’s bullying made him the most popular kid in school.

Bakugo’s bullying was ignored by/outright supported by the teachers.

Bakugo’s bullying did not hinder him from getting into U.A., one of the most prestigious hero schools around.

Despite acting horribly throughout his time at U.A. too, this behavior was continually ignored by the teachers and other authority figures around him.

Bakugo’s struggle to realize that other people aren’t “trash” doesn’t hurt his achievements in any way. He still gets top scores, still wins the tournament, etc.

Bakugo’s behavior gets him special attention from All Might, the greatest hero and Bakugo’s personal idol.

His behavior doesn’t make others dislike him in any manner that’s taken seriously. Everybody is still willing to not just put up with Bakugo, but—in time—start treating his behavior as a quirk (no pun intended lol) that they’re secretly fond of, rather than something he should legitimately be striving to change. Kirishima is the most overt example of this.

This is compounded by his behavior constantly being framed as humorous. Much like with Mineta’s perverted actions, characters might superficially go, “No, that’s bad!” but the story never demands any significant development because then we’d lose the “joke” of Bakugo screaming in rage at the slightest inconvenience, threatening to murder someone over nothing, constantly belittling everyone around him in a “funny” manner, etc. When fans talk about development of a manga character as archetypal and extreme as Bakugo, most don’t really want to see significant change to his base personality. Because then that would result in someone who doesn’t look like the “real” Bakugo: someone nicer, more even-tempered, more mature, etc. But for those of us who were never drawn to that personality in the first place, the continued acceptance of his rude, egotistical, and violent behavior is discomforting. The easiest comparison I can draw is between this and Bakugo’s mother slapping him. That slap is meant to be another “joke”—we see it constantly in shonen anime, something "humorous" you shouldn’t take too seriously because haha, it's just an overprotective mother—but many fans do take it seriously, using it as the basis for a whole “Bakugo was abused and this explains his behavior” reading. Well, I take the “joke” of Bakugo’s threats and insults seriously, especially in a story that starts with something like telling Izuku to jump off the roof. In the same way that many fans want others to treat Bakugo’s mother as a serious topic that has had a negative influence on his development, I want the series to take Bakugo’s everyday actions seriously as a negative influence on… well, everyone around him. But it doesn’t. His base personality is grudgingly adored.

The above two points are seen most overtly in Izuku, who never wavers in his respect for Bakugo despite how Bakugo treats him. Not just prior to U.A., but during their training too. Izuku, as the protagonist, is the emotional heart of this tale, so when he talks about how inspiring Bakugo is, it encourages the reader to see his behavior as inspiring too. Rather than, as said, something that needs to change. Izuku's continued friendship with Bakugo, his adoration of him, and his acceptance of the way he's treated has severely warped how the entire story sees Bakugo's actions. After all, if #pure Izuku can see the good in Bakugo, why can't everyone else? He must not be that bad after all.

I could get into detailed analyses of all the above—like how Bakugo was the one comforted after attacking Izuku outside the dorms at night and how the messed up relationship he has with Izuku is upheld as something to nurture; how the remedial courses he had to take were made to be rather silly, thereby undermining their supposed importance to his development; how Bakugo’s kidnapping had nothing to do with his flaws, but much of the fandom uses it as a way to dismiss any appropriate consequences because, “Hasn’t he suffered enough?” etc.—but in the interest of keeping this within a readable length, I’ll leave it at that. The point is that Bakugo has always been privileged when it comes to his behavior, resulting in others either outright praising it, ignoring it, or demanding that he change a miniscule bit, which always keeps him far below the standards of both his peers and the expectations of a hero. Everyone in 1-A must learn to be even better than the good people they already are... Bakugo needs to learn that other people aren't dirt at the bottom of his shoes. It's never been a particularly impressive development when pit against the rest of the class. All of which can make something like an apology feel pretty hollow. Yes, he’s apologized and I say with all seriousness that that’s great! But how does that apology stack up against 300+ chapters of content? As Bakugo’s words highlight, he's been a really awful person up "until now": he was consumed by Izuku being “miles ahead of [him],” he “looked down on [him]” because he didn’t have a quirk, he “didn’t want to recognize that,” he “hated that,” “grew distant,” “tried to beat you down,” “opposed you and tried to show my superiority over you,” and ends it all with, “it probably doesn’t mean anything telling you all this” before finally getting to the “I’m sorry.” This is basically a laundry list of how horrible a person Bakugo has been for the entire series, with an acknowledgement that this apology is coming really, really late. This is the moment where I could START to like Bakugo, depending on how he acts form here on out, but that pivotal moment arrived after six years of content and in the final arc of the story. It’s too late. Bakugo needed this kind of self-reflection and positive action 250+ chapters ago so he could (hopefully) grow into a better person across the story, not at the story's end. What we got instead is 322 chapters of him being a really horrible person, but the story going out of its way to excuse or even praise that behavior the majority of the time.

As a quick comparison to end on, I think what Bakugo needed was what Soo Jin got in True Beauty. You don’t need to have seen the drama to follow along. The tl;dr is that she has a lot of the core qualities of Bakugo: an all-consuming drive to win that was created due to abusive parents with high expectations, resulting in her bullying a peer to a pretty horrific extent. The difference between them is how the story frames their actions. When Soo Jin becomes the bully she loses everything. Rather than succeeding academically, her grades plummet, making it clear that this anxiety and self-doubt (things the fandom keeps insisting Bakugo is struggling with, but that rarely ever show up in the text) is actually impacting her day-to-day life. Her best friend drops her because she’s not going to support her choices. The boy she likes rejects her. She’s eventually forced to start over somewhere new - which importantly separates her from the girl she was bullying - and get some distance from her parents, resulting in the growth needed to become a healthier, happier, good person again. So when Soo Jin apologizes to the girl she hurt, it feels earned. The story continually recognized how horrific her actions were and put her into a place where she either had to change, or continue losing at everything else that was important to her. Bakugo? Bakugo doesn’t lose. Oh, he claims he does because he’s comparing himself to Izuku constantly, but that’s just him thinking in extremes. He still wins academically. Still wins many battles. Still wins at having friends. Still wins by maintaining the prestige of being a U.A. student. Still wins by getting All Might’s attention. Still wins by receiving Izuku’s respect and an agreement to maintain this rivalry that Bakugo is so obsessed with. Bakugo comes out well 99% of the time, he just thinks he's "lost" because he can't stand not being the absolute best.

For me, the story needed to have Bakugo face consequences for his behavior, not receive rewards and/or have others ignore it, and that revelation/apology needed to come way, way sooner. For me the issue is not a specific action that Horikoshi can have Bakugo do in the next chapter and them bam, I like him now. The problem is Bakugo’s entire concept, how he’s received by the entire cast, and his run across this entire series. "Entire" is the key word there. Which is why the “But he’s apologized. What more do you antis want?” reactions don’t sit well. What we wanted is a better written redemption arc across those 300+ chapters, not a single scene that’s meant to have us forget all the other problems inherent in the story. At this point it’s a far more complicated situation than, “Bakugo just needs to do X, Y, and Z and then we’re golden.” At the end of the day, Horikoshi failed to make me like him as a person and I’m pretty sure he isn’t going to change Bakugo enough to make him likable to me. Bakugo was never the sort of character I’d be inclined towards without a serious, nuanced redemption arc, but sadly, a core, crucial part of that redemption arc took six years to arrive. At this point there’s no way to change the problems in Bakugo’s writing for that huge chunk of the series and not enough time left in the series, it seems, to do the work we should have seen across the entire run. Honestly, idk if the Bakugo we'll get going forward is someone I can just dislike as opposed to being really uncomfortable with, but my money is on there being too little story left and too much investment in upholding Bakugo's base personality for that to happen. I could absolutely be proven wrong! But I think the problems are structural and needed to be better dealt with from page one, not hastily patched over in the final hour.

Oh PLEASE go off about Annabelle in canon, I was actually considering writing a season 5 where annabelle joins Jon and Martin to put a stop to the entities. Like, it’s so weird to assume that only Jon would be actively fighting back against his monsterhood and putting Annabelle in a position where she utilizes her patrons knowledge to fight against it? Like.... *chefs kiss* but I wanna know what you think about her treatment in canon

so, firstly, yeah what you said!! i think more avatars should actively work against their patrons! and annabelle, as supposedly someone great at trickery and lies and manipulation? COULD DO THAT. like, tma p clearly sets up that you've gotta be rebelling to do good, but there's more than one way to rebel against a corrupt system! outright refusing to do things is one, but careful sabotage is another! annabelle could have been that. she was perfect! an unwilling avatar! forced into what she became! clever & tricksy! aware of the web's plans! come on.

secondly, like, she had all these parallels to jon. so many! so many parallels!! she was set up as a narrative foil for him! and did those parallels come into play when she finally confronted jon? did he have to see & understand her life as it was like his? did she reveal she'd been fighting battles like his as well? did she even have a villainous 'we're not so different you and i' moment?? no! she just delivered the web's message for it! damn!!

...it's also not necessarily bad treatment but i am just like. personally miffed abt how bad jonny is at writing effective manipulation. she got martin to go with her by telling him she had a solution? really?? and all her big buildup as someone terrifying & dangerous by jon, and... she's just a messenger. not even doing anything. rly took that 'make sure people either under or overestimate you' thing to heart huh.

and with the purely narrative issues out of the way. the thing abt her being a black woman. the thing abt her treatment as a black woman.

like, she was lied to when participating in a morally questionable medical experiment and wound up physically, mentally, and emotionally changed. she lost her place in society, her family, her education, because of that. and canon says 'yeah that's bad & scary' but does it truly address the specific horror of that happening to a black woman?

and then in her service to the web, she rly is reduced to like, its obedient servant. she is utterly controlled. her life is sacrificed to its whims. other avatars got some benefit from their avatarhood, but does annabelle? we never see it! and in the end she's still not exerting any will of her own, not even with her dreams of a spooky children's show. she exists to deliver a message to jon in order to serve the desires of her patron. she even mentions so casually that maybe she'll get to live or maybe she'll die, but as long as her patron's desires are fulfilled that's all that matters. like... jonny, this is what you choose to do with your one specifically-described black woman? without even acknowledging how specially horrific that is for her bcos of her identity?

add onto that that in the final confrontation she morphs into a huge, scary spider in order to... what? talk to jon? deliver a message to him?? in a situation where she does not need to fight, is not even TRYING to fight, is in fact calmly having a conversation, is it REALLY necessary to make her large & monstrous & physically intimidating? especially when a 'final form' reveal isn't something like... any other avatar has.

and then! in posts abt jon being written like a white man i touched on this, but the thing where he gets to decide if she lives or dies based on, lbr, how he's feeling? if he's mad enough abt her taking martin to kill her, or if he personally wants to stop killing enough to let her go? pls do not put your 'aracial' character (played by a white man) in that sort of position over your one black woman. come on.

and ultimately parts of this happened bcos jonny used race as an aesthetic in early seasons and did not consider the implications of some of what he was doing, did not realize the special horror for her (and for other poc!) in the stories he was telling. but by season five he'd had time to think, and to have some realizations, and he could have AT LEAST explored annabelle as a more complex character, instead of totally ignoring her complexities, her parallels to jon, and her agency so he could use her to wrap up his big scary web plan.

I have nerevoryn brainworms that torment me day and night, so I answered this ask game under the cut (I did this for myself not for anyone else, pls be nice and ignore it if u don’t like something you see here!)

(A lil clarification: I headcanon Voryn as nonbinary and I use they/them pronouns for them, also they’re ace and afab in my hc, pls look away if that makes u uncomfy) • How did they first meet? They met when Nerevar was hopping from House to House to ask to be supported as Hortator, he just kinda showed up at Voryn's home outta nowhere and was met with 38237 identical serious Dagoth siblings. I can’t think about it without laughing dgsfh

• What was their first impression of each other? Voryn thought Nerevar a fool at first, for coming all the way to Kogoruhn just to ask for political support and to justify /why/ he should be politically supported However, Voryn saw almost instantly that Nerevar was genuine and driven and had strong ambitions for Resdayn, and they ended up agreeing on a lot of things. Meanwhile, Nerevar's first impression of Voryn was...kinda non-existent? He didn't pay much attention to them and didn't differentiate much between Voryn and their siblings. They were all just a bunch of polite goths to him, so he liked them from the beginning 😹

• Did any of their friends or family want them to get together? Voryn's family was neutral and maybe a lil cautious, but ultimately didn't interfere at all and they quickly accepted Nerevar as part of their family Nerevar has no family, though I consider Vivec to be his family in some way. But no, Vivec didn't really want them to get together :') (he didn't like Voryn very much in the beginning, he thought they're boring, too serious, and has no sense of humor LOL but he warms up to them after a while.. he won’t stop messing with them tho, bc they’re rly easy to tease and that’s fun) • Who felt romantic feelings first? Voryn did. Nerevar's feelings only started ages later, he's not really the type to sit down and analyze/reflect on his feelings, so he didn't realize he had romantic feelings until they hit him full force LOL • Did either of them try to resist their feelings? Voryn tried, but gave up and opted for hiding their feelings instead of suppressing them 😔 • If you had told one of them that the other would be their soulmate, what would they think? They would believe it. Nerevar wouldn't immediately assume it means "romantic soulmate" though, he already sees Voryn as a very close friend so the news that they're soulmates makes perfect sense to him. On the other hand, Voryn wouldn't be surprised to find out they're soulmates, but they'd feel like it's a cruel thing to do to them both, since they can't be together openly and in the way that they want to be. It would be heartbreaking to them :’/ • What would their lives be like if they had never met? Voryn's life would've remained quiet and uneventful, most likely. And they wouldn’t have ended up the way they did in canon.  Nerevar is an unpredictable mystery though so I have no idea, maybe he'd go down a different path and take some impulsive bad decisions in his life 🤔 oh wait he already does that nvm • Who initiated the relationship, and how did it go? Nerevar initiated it. Voryn has had feelings for him for a very long time, but at first they didn't want to be in a relationship with Nerevar due to how complicated it would be, but yeah...they couldn't ignore their heart's call, and definitely couldn't refuse Nerevar when he started returning the feelings :') • Did they have an official first date? If so, what was it like? YEAH!! I have no idea though! It would've been secret but very nice and romantic :'D • What was their first kiss like? It was intimate, and heavy. It was packed full of years of suppressed feelings and wishes. Voryn may have teared up a bit lmao • Were they each other’s first anything (kiss, relationship, etc.)? Nerevar has already had relationships (though nothing long-term) and has had...experience with ppl, in all meanings Nerevar WAS Voryn's first everything though! Age difference? Nerevar is 6'1 and Voryn is 5′6-5'7, they're the same age though! • What’s their relationship with each other’s families? Nerevar likes the dagoths. They don’t pry into his business (ahem, affair*) with Voryn and they always welcome him to Kogoruhn with no problem (aka they tolerate his out-of-nowhere appearances and occassional odd behavior). Nerevar does, Voryn is really awkward at socializing and hates doing it too 😹 • Who gets jealous easier? They both do, but their jealousy manifests in different ways. Voryn said it first, but only after Nerevar had already confessed his feelings :’) they needed to be sure they wouldn’t get rejected bc that would just break their heart tbh • Who uses cheesy pick-up lines? Both do, but they mean it in all seriousness, and they believe every word the other says. • How often do they cuddle/engage in PDA? PDA is a big no-no for obvious reasons, unless it's only around trustworthy ppl like Alandro Sul and Voryn's family. Yes, Alan my boi is chill with all of this hehe • Who initiates kisses? Nerevar. He's very touchy uwu • Who’s the big and little spoon? Nere's the big spoon, usually. Having time to spend together is rare for them, so they treasure every little moment they have. They both prefer spending time completely alone with one another, somewhere far and secluded where they can’t see or hear any other people. Nerevar needs moments of quietness to recharge after dealing with so many ppl in his daily affairs, so he really appreciates Voryn’s company bc their energy is very calming and they’re just quiet and pleasant in general.... they’re the type to sit in comfortable silence and just lean on one another as the world fades around them :’) • Who’s better at comforting the other? They know each other very well, so they're both amazing at comforting each other, except it's a lot easier for Voryn to comfort Nerevar solely because Voryn isn't as open about their emotions as he is, and doesn't want to worry Nerevar with anything, so they keep their emotions/pain private much more than Nerevar does. Nere's more open about things that bother him and spills his soul out to Voryn often lol • Who’s more protective? Oh gosh they are both overprotective of one another, they live dangerous lives after all. However, Voryn's the type to get physically sick by worrying over Nerevar's well-being... Nerevar doesn't handle it any better tho, he would become very spooky and destructive if anything happened to Voryn 👀 • Do they prefer verbal or physical affection? Nerevar prefers verbal affection from Voryn, because he knows Voryn’s words are always truthful. Voryn prefers physical affection from Nerevar though, because they know he uses verbal affection with a lot of people, so the physical kind feels more personal and genuine to them u_u • What are some songs that apply to their relationship, in-universe or otherwise? ... How did they first meet?

Actually probably not in episode 1 - the presence of Mini Rei in the Leliel sequence suggests that maybe Shinji saw her during the nubulous “3 years ago” incident.

What was their first impression of each other?

On Shinji’s end: mysterious? slighty unnerving?

On Rei’s end: mild interest, since he’s Gendo’s kid & protecter her in ep 1, though I doubt she grasped the full implications. 

Did any of their friends or family want them to get together?

Rebuild! Gendo’s nefarious plot does NOT count. 

I’d presume Touji & Kensuke would be on board & Misato would tease & encourage any possible relationship that Shinji would get.

Who felt romantic feelings first?

It was probably more or less simultaneous, at the end of ep 6.

It’s possible that there was some mutual vague interest/fascination before that, but it’s hard to say how much of that is just of Shinji being Gendo’s kid & maybe feeling vaguely reminded of Yui, before he gets to know Rei properly.

Did either of them try to resist their feelings?

They got 99 problems but being tsuntsun isn’t one. 

Though Rei would perhaps at first feel that it’s futile/doomed since instrumentality is around the corner. 

If you had told one of them that the other would be their soulmate, what would they think? What would their lives be like if they had never met?

It’s possible that Rei would have met another friend and/or love interest, but it’s not likely. She might’ve still had her doubts, but she’d probably still have gone along with Gendo’s plan, causing him to “win”. I think she’d have looked at her existence as a quasi-human as only painful rather than something that was both good & bad. 

With Shinji it’s harder to say cause he has other people to possibly inspire him & more complicated reasons to stay. I’d say he would’ve been more resentful overall, though, because he’d only have ambivalent motivators (Gendo, wanting to be needed etc.), not anyone who had no agenda & would be affected as an innocent if he “left”, & maybe that resentment woudl’ve come out as an emotional outburst at an inoportune point.

Who initiated the relationship, and how did it go?

I strongly believe that it would definitely be Rei, she can be straightforward enough once she got her feelings figured out. 

Did they have an official first date? If so, what was it like?

I don’t think they’d be into the whole ‘date’ ritual, it would just be a nice moment like having tea or going for a walk in nature together

What was their first kiss like?

Well there was that discarded storyboard from the rebuilds where the angel having taken Rei’s form “pulls EVA 01 in an open-mouthed kiss”... with their luck it could be something fucked up like that ^^°°

If we assume some reasonable AU, it would defiitely be all soft & tender & emotional. 

Were they each other’s first anything (kiss, relationship, etc.)?

Shinji  would definitely be Rei’s. Her first friend even since she had none before :( 

As for Shinji, ovsly Asuka and/or Mana/Manga!Kaworu/Misato got to him first, but kissing someone on a whim & bc you rly like them would be very different. 

In my experience, it really matters a lot. Romantic kissing is something very different from just foreplay kissing & compatibility matters a lot.

None, at least physically.

Rei doesn’t have a family :(

It depends on the situation. Generally Shinji is friendlier & more conventional while Rei is braver. If it’s a garden party, it’s Shinji, if it’s comfronting someone about a problem, it’s Rei.

jed vs. women anon back again to yet again agree with everything you said. i also wouldve liked to see more farida, especially bc what we were left with was a quite damaging portrayal of a queer woc who seemed to be pretty toxic relationship-wise, which is not the positive representation that they thought it would be. i agree, steve is bland, and kate and ted have always been the more interesting of the trio. ive seen some people online arguing that the kate and jo storyline wasnt finished bc ultimately its steves story, not kates, but then why even bother to show kate at MIT in the first place?? if its steves story then surely we should have stayed at AC12 for the whole season, with kate only being relevant when steve visited the Hill? If its steves story why are we being shown kate and jo scenes directly intercut with scenes of this seasons ‘romance’ between him and steph? the fact that, because it was left so open, it almost feels like we should assume kate was just playing jo rly doesnt sit right with me (nor does it make sense bc we're led to believe they had some kind of relationship before jo is under investigation) and kinda feels like they deliberately never concluded it to escape backlash from both sides (avoiding the str8s being angry that kate was queer or vice versa). felt at times very much like pre-covid he was happy to go forward with some kind of relationship between them, but post-covid (possibly due to restrictions on intimacy idk) he floundered and decided that the best thing he could do if they couldnt kiss or hug was to just forget it ever happened.

I wish we were at the pub having these conversations, they’re too good and we could talk for hours about them. :( Thanks for your thoughtful words again. X 

I fully agree with your point about Farida. Jed portrayed her as a needy, possessive, jealous lesbian, who stalks her ex and cuts up her leather jacket that probably cost Jo at least £50. That is never a good look and it is quite a bitter portrayal of a queer character. It’s a horrible shame given Farida is one of the few ethnic minorities on the show and an open lesbian - she was clearly a good person with good intentions, who didn’t know how to love someone in a healthy way yet (given that Jo was dealing with her own trauma, this surely would've impacted their communication). It’s shite that Jed didn’t feel this aspect was important enough to explore further. However, I do also understand sometimes there are characters that are introduced only to drive plot. Ultimately, the storyline wasn’t about Farida, but she certainly fed into it and there was much more that could be said here. Maybe Farida will return in series 7 (if there is one)? 

The argument that Jo and Kate’s interactions were part of Steve’s wider story, and that is why they weren’t addressed in the finale, is kinda ridiculous. It’s an accusation that annoys me. What significance is Steve meant to have, right now? Steve had so much gusto and passion in series 1. He was angry about the Police corruption and innocent people getting killed. He wanted to make things right. Now he is tired and a slither of that man (he has gone through a lot of trauma, so this is unsurprising.) I would love for Steve to have a more significant story line in series 6, but unfortunately he didn’t. All we took from Steve this series is he had a bad back and erectile dysfunction - which is shite for him but it led to nothing, no break-throughs, no big announcements, no shock twists. All that build up about Steve ignoring his emails led to him having his firearm taken away, and even that didn’t play into anything. I thought perhaps Jed had included this scene to foreshadow that Steve would fear for his life at some point later in the episode, and he’d need his gun to protect himself (or else he’d die). But that never happened either, so why do we care if he has a bad back? Why do we care that his gun was taken away? Why introduce a theme if it doesn’t impact the overarching story? There’s red herrings and then there is plain baaad writing. 

I don’t know why Jed left Jo and Kate’s dynamic open, like he did. I don’t know. Personally, I wouldn’t even say he left it open - he completely disregarded it, as if the previous six episodes of interaction with Jo and Kate never happened. Saying it was left ‘open’ suggests it can still be explored, but with Jo in witness protection (with a new identity and an undisclosed address) and Kate firing into Steve, I don’t trust Jed considers any aspect of Kate’s relationship with Jo as open. He won’t even allow Kate to explore her feelings there, which were so clearly confused and hopeful and genuine towards Jo. This is awful, by the way. I’m not enjoying typing that, and I sincerely hope I’m wrong. As I mentioned before, I'm only watching series 7 if Kelly MacDonald returns.

I also feel like COVID and social distancing rules isn’t a good enough excuse to warrant dropping Jo and Kate’s storyline. I didn’t think Jo and Kate would’ve kissed, at least not on screen, and I don’t believe for one second Jed was ever planning to write this in. The physical limitations of COVID shouldn’t play into it. All it needed was one single sentence in the script. A single fleeting look when Kate rescued Jo from the van. It needed words or something. COVID doesn’t hold any relevance in concluding (or giving answers to) Jo and Kate’s relationship that they took great pains to include. So if he tries to say this, I’ll come for him. 

I thought I’d be a wee bit calmer today about what happened to Jo and Kate who would've been honestly perfect together but I’ve just realised that I’m not! Haha.

now for relationships, its the little things that matter the most to me. if they remembered a small detail i told them, or if they make sure to do something because they know i'll like it, it's just the small details that get me because that means they're really listening and really do care about me.more often than not you'll find me spaced out and find that ive slipped into my imagination again. i do love my little world of scenarios ive created in my head but thats cause i like it more than the present but i know i only do that cause i dont have someone who im reallllyyy close to and someone who i can talk to and be present with so i think once i get into a relationship ill want to spend most of my time with them because they make the present a little more bareable :)

TPN Vol 8 - Chapters 66-70 Thoughts

[we're already on vol 9 but I'm slow with compiling]

I know I always rag on the "cop out" deaths and it is true that no corpse no dead, and I am curious if there will be any more worldbuilding regarding Lucas' survival (hello deus ex machina person) but uh. Idk. I'm sure it has a point and it makes sense in universe (having him be the reason for the knowledge among GP kids is good) but it just feels a little. Eh. Like it feels like paddling back on a small part of geezers guilt and feelings. In part it also feels like a "reward" for choosing the heroes moral side and going to help save Emma (why ever that happened - ig bc Gilda would blow up the shelter if he doesn't so. YAY).

Obviously the development is still his, and he obviously isn't expecting to find anyone alive there, but ig i felt like he was leading up to... healing more through the kids and not one epic Emma speech and "oh your one friend is alive btw" reveal later on. It feels like a spark of hope and happiness for him that I'm not sure if was needed narratively. He already decided he wouldn't harm them.

Like maybe they handle it very differently so i might be jumping the gun here but idk. It just feels a little... weird to me. Probably in a similar way how speeches about Norman hurt but also kind of get that "well uh about that...." Air once you know. I feel for the characters and their separation but it doesn't have the same weight it could have anymore.

In theory it reminds me a bit of the whole gate reveal structure in s2. With a setup being built up or established and a reveal just going "nvm that's not what we're doing".

It makes sense, I'm just not a huge fan of what it does for me for previously established things.

But i guess writing wise it puts its cards on the table with small scale Lucas and then Norman haha.

I find it rly funny how much the arc sort of mirrors the s2 arc so far (character assumed dead is alive, new cast of demon kill children introduced, a plan to kill demons).

Ig that might be intentional, for all intents it's a good method of conveying character change. Or different specifics or how things might be judged differently with different specifics (like hunting for enjoyment vs. farming)

I'm totally jumping in on this too early but idk it's interesting to think about.

That and also our whole "There's someone I want you to meet" - "ITS NORMAN" jokes made me think, like you could probably ACTUALLY restructure some of this in a way that would allow Norman's return here instead lol. Could be a fun AU, esp since we have the seeds of a (small-scale) demon annihilation plan anyway.

I also just find it funny to think about Norman grumbling from his future self that Emma agreed to some random guy's plan so easily udkhjsd

Obviously the time is a bit of a mess -- it's only been 3 months? is Adam out bc Norman's escaped already or was Adam just shipped to GP? if he already escaped, our boy is quick - plus, why would he go to GP. the supporters in Lambda probably know it's been compromised, so aside from freeing the children, there isn't a lot of reason to go there and while that may have priority, I feel like 3 months is a bit of a short timeframe for Norman to settle in there well enough -- so it's more wonky than anything BUT IT'S FUN TO THINK ABOUT.

btw I find it so funny how Emma has that whole "intent to kill" thing going on now, considering her later moral stance - like it's fair but coming from s2 it's a bit of whiplash haha especially since she's so determined about it right from the start. (though I have no idea if she ever addressed killing demons before this, memory bad)

Though notably she said "she wants to shut down the hunting ground too", not "want to kill them too" - and it's good that she draws a line but IDK IT'S JUST INTERESTING because what bothers her is the toying / no respect for their lives, right? - "this kind of hunt", not hunting in general.

... so like, if you were hunted by a demon in the wild, who didn't toy with you, just killed and ate you, that would be fine then? Idk, it's a very fine line and I get it, but it's interesting to think about. A quick, suffer-less death is of course a valid thing to want if you will die anyway, but you're dead afterwards in both variants.

Of course maybe I'm reading it wrong and it's just her sort of realizing that between mass production farms and GP, they really did have it good, even if they died an early death, and how this is much more hate-worthy than GF's method. Which is true, I suppose, and might expand on the building blocks of her moral development down the line (as in "there's different stages of demon-badness").

Also a more funny thought but imagine if Lucas DID have the pen, would... Geezer-senpai just not find the way back? And even if he did would he even get into the bunker? That'd be one tragic ending pff. Tell the person to run away and they can't even go back inside sudhdjd

We know WM wasn't at the bunker in the last 13 years and we know that the books he supplied to GF, the newest one was 2015. What if he was discovered or had to limit his WM activity 30 years ago?

So 30 years ago, he still sent people to goldy pond.

I'm just realizing.... That totally sounds like a setup for minerva to actually be on the demons side or a demon himself sjdhjddj. Like he orchestrates escapees (who are likely to be smart) and then sends them to GP where he and his noble friends can hunt them.

But where i was actually going with this uh, what if GP 30 years ago (potentially longer depending on how long ago he was there last) wasn't actually a hunting a ground? Why would you send kids there without a warning otherwise? What if it WAS a small human community (tho that would likely have been passed around by the inhabitants) or it was at least WM supporter base like the bunker, intended for humans to live there. Not sure about mansion then but YKNOW.

If it was, i wonder if it being discovered was a huge part in WM cover being blown OR if the demons decided to keep it secret bc you know this place is rly convinient haha

When you first started to manifest your quirk, you didn’t realize it. You sat in front of a bonfire for some local festival you couldn’t even remember at this point. You couldn’t tear your eyes away from the blaze. It was beautiful. To you, that fire looked alive. It’s dancing form spoke to you, whispers and screams that told you of your power.

After that, you couldn’t look away from any flame. Even the scented candles around your home fascinated you. You swore they talked to you. You asked your mom if she heard the whispers too. She gave you a puzzled look.

Both your parents had heat related quirks. Your mother could produce fire, but only a small flame on the tip of her fingers. Your father could warm anything he touched. They dismissed you having any sort of fire power. With their weak quirks, they believed there was no way you could be powerful.

You proved them wrong when you sneezed and accidentally lit the kitchen table on fire. From there, they were constantly worried about your quirk. You promised never to use your quirk, but your parents would still fret over you.

It was enough to drive anyone mad. In fact, a part of you believed you were evil.

You ran away when you were sixteen. From there, you did odd jobs here and there to make enough money to get an awful apartment. They weren’t the most legal jobs, but you thought you were bad. What did a few more bad deeds do?

At twenty years old, you were a skilled fighter. You had to be since you had no idea how to use your quirk. Not only that, but you were intelligent enough to save your skin more than once. There was rumors that your quirk was “luck” since you always seemed a little too lucky with close calls. After years of this rumor, all your clients believed it.

You walked down an alley after blending in with the crowd long enough for the pro heroes to lose your scent. You smiled, feeling overjoyed at the weight of your backpack. You thought it was odd that someone had hired you for petty theft of a tech store, but money was money.

You pulled out your phone and called the number your client had given you. You heard another phone ring, before a burnt man walked out of the shadows. You smiled and turned off your phone.

“Finally, I get to meet my client face-to-face.” You said, taking off your backpack. “Got everything ya want here.”

“You’re pretty good at this. Your quirk is luck, right?” The burnt man asked. You winked.

“Something like that.” You said. You didn’t want to let people know you had a fire quirk, but saying you were quirkless would make you an easy target.

The burnt man opened the backpack and smiled before slinging it onto his back.

“We could use someone like you on our team.” The burnt man said.

“Thanks, but no thanks. I don’t do teams.” You said.

“Not even if the League of Villains wanted you?” The burnt man said. Your eyes widened and your smile dropped. “The name’s Dabi. We’re recruiting more people, and you’re one of the villains we want. What do you say?”

“I’m not looking for a team. Besides, what you guys do is above my paygrade. Thanks, though.” You said, backing up slowly. Dabi smiled.

“That’s too bad. But I can’t just let you walk either.” Dabi said. He raised his hand, before fire shot out. You moved out of the fire, narrowly avoiding it.

You mentally cursed. You had to get out of here, or else you’d be killed. You had known of the League and their offers. You had hoped they wouldn’t care about someone like you, but you were wrong.

Your eyes darted around the alleyway, looking for a way out. Unfortunately, there where no ladders and Dabi blocked one of the exits. You only choice was to turn tail and leave, hoping he wouldn’t be able to chase you into the crowd.

Dabi sent another blast of fire towards you. You rolled underneath it, before running towards the entrance of the alleyway. You felt the blast of fire before you saw it. You turned out of the way at the last second, hoping to avoid his blast. Unfortunately, you turned too sharply, causing you to fall to the ground.

You looked back to see Dabi right in front of you.

“Got you now.” He said, pointing his arm at you.

You brought your arms up to cover your face in a last stitch effort. As fire shot out of his hand, fire shot out of your hands and arms. Your flames stopped his from burning you alive. The force caused Dabi to fly back.

You pushed your shock asked and got up, using this opportunity to run away. You couldn’t worry about your secret getting out. You just had to get away.

After months of constant moving, you were sure that the League wasn’t pursuing you. You settled down on the other side of Japan in a busy city. You changed your name and everything.

You had just settled down when a knock came to your door. You figured it was your shady landlady coming by to ask for rent or something. You opened up the door.

“Ms. Mera, I told you that-“ You cut yourself off when you realized it wasn’t your landlady at the door, but Dabi. You moved to shut the door, but he grabbed it before you could.

“I don’t know who Ms. Mera is, but you and I have some unfinished business. Mind if I come in.” Dabi said, pushing the door open. Not much of a question.

He placed his hand on the small of your back and lead you into your apartment. He gestured to your couch. You sat down and watched as he took at seat on your coffee table.

“How can I help you?” You said.

“You so rudely denied my offer to join the League. So, I am with a different offer in mind.” Dabi said. Your eyebrows scrunched together.

“A-Another?” You said. Dabi nodded.

“I think you’ll find this more agreeable. I’m going to train you and your fire quirk, but only if you join the League afterwards.” Dabi said. You frowned.

“And if I disagree?” You asked. Dabi lit his hand.

“I don’t think you’ll need to worry about your security deposit.” He said.

You didn’t have a lot of options. You could refuse, which would only end in fire. The only reason you got away last time was because you had a secret up your sleeve. Your other option was to accept his offer. Eventually, you could get away. Plus, you might learn some secrets that would get you witness protection.

“I accept your offer.” You said, holding your hand out. Dabi smiled, putting out his hand before shaking yours.

You and Dabi decided to meet up in an abandoned warehouse on a shady side of town. Most people would ignore any fire coming from it, which was perfect. Neither of you wanted to get caught. You met up underneath the pale moonlight in the warehouse.

“So, I figure there must be a good reason you don’t use your quirk. I really don’t care why, but I need to know if you ever have used it before.” Dabi said. You shook your head. Anytime you had used it, it was an accident or a fluke. “Can you even summon it?” He asked. You shook your head.

“God. This is going to be a lonnnnggg night.” Dabi said, before asking towards you. You stepped back from him.

“Relax. If I wanted to fry you, I would’ve.” He said. You relaxed as he came towards you. He stood behind you, placing his hands on your shoulders.

“Listen, there’s a few things I’ve learned while on this miserable rock. First, all you have is your fire. Second, don’t you ever be afraid of your demons, but always keep them on a leash. It’s good to be a little afraid of your fire so you don’t hurt the people you want to keep alive, but you shouldn’t be afraid of it. It’s yours and it will always be yours. Tame it. Show the world why they should fear you.” Dabi said. You felt a shiver run down your spine. “Now, aim straight ahead. Feel it burning in your heart and release your fire.”

You took a deep breath, trying to coax fire out of you. After a few seconds of concentration, a flame shot foward. Unfortunately, grew much bigger than you meant for it too. You started to panic. Dabi ran his hands down your arms, gripping your wrists.

“Don’t. Be. Afraid.” He growled. You tried to control the flames and your shaking breath. Much to your surprise, you were able to control the flames. Maybe it was because Dabi was here or maybe it was because someone believed you, but that was the first time in a long time you felt like you could control your quirk.

“There you go, sweet thing. Now, focus on the flames. They’re yours. Make them dance.” Dabi said. You focused on slightly expanding the fire, before making it smaller, and then bigger again. You could feel Dabi grinning against your cheek.

“See? You’re a natural.” He said. “Does it hurt?”

“No... should it?” You asked.

“It doesn’t have to, but it could. Be careful. You have to learn your limits. You won’t be able to use fire as much as I can yet. You’re basically like a child in terms of quirk control. We’ll get you better though.” Dabi said. You frowned.

“Why are you being nice? And why do you want to teach me so bad?” You asked. Dabi pulled his hands away. You stopped producing flames and turned around to face him.

“I’m not being nice. I’m teaching you so that if anything happens to me, you’ll take down heroes for me. But don’t worry, doll. I’m not going anywhere yet. Not while Endeavor is still alive.” Dabi said, smiling.

You remembered being sixteen and smelling gasoline on your clothes. You assumed it meant something bad. It didn’t help that you always thought something related to your quirk would ruin you. As Dabi’s arms wrapped around you again, you realized that this would be the thing to ruin you.

IM SO GLAD U ASKED this game is probsbly my favorite game ever its been a special interest if mine since i was 7 and i dont think its a GOOD game per se bt i love it a lot and it impacted me a lot as a little kid w a mild interest in art :)

so basically the game is a little 2d adventure platformer where u get to draw and design the character u play as. its p clunky and the way ur character moves looks rlly silly bt again this game was released in like 2010 on the ds so its ok .. the game also gave u templates to go off of and use too just in case u didnt want to design a character from scratch

the story of the first game is abt this world that was drawn into existence by “the creator” in the book of life. u hav this little sequence where u get to draw the world, and the forrests and the creatures tht wld inhabit it. the creatures tht inhabit the world are callec raposa and they r little fox creature w funny ears :)

like this guy (his name is zsasha and hes a thief but hes like a bad one who ends up returning all of the stuff he steals and also watching over a little orphan girl who he basically adopts LOL)

in the universe if the game the “creator” eventually went silent and the raposa lost hope in them ever returning. the world was slowly shrouded in darkness and gradually all of the raposa inhabiting this little village were either lost or left on purpose bc it was slowly falling apart. the game starts when one of the remaining raposa, mari, prays to u, the creator, to come back and help restore her village, saying that everyone else has lost hope but she still believes you can return to her. u can answer, and either say that u will help or you wont, but either way u end up agreeing to help her and she goes to tell her dad, the mayor, abt it. you create a “hero” to be the vessel you will speak thru, and thats the character u end up designing and playing as. the game is abt going to various areas from the village and rescuing all of the raposa that are lost there, as well as restoring the village to what it used to be and drawing in bits of the landscape, like the sun and plants and stuff.

the villain of the story is a guy named wilfre, who was another villager in the town who ended up drawing in the book of life bc he wanted to create things the way the creator had. he ended up making these big inky monsters and got consumed by them, and when u meet him at the beginning of the game he tears up a bunch of pages in the book of life which get scattered across the land and you have to collect them in order to restore the village.

so u basically just go around saving villagers, collecting pages of the book of life, and redrawing bits of the town that were lost to wilfres shadows. eventually wilfre ends up like, killing maris dad (the mayor) and then after youve restored a majority of the village you enter his realm and kill him!! yay :)

throughout the game you also meet these two weird npcs called heather and mike. heather is a little raposa girl who has half of her face covered in shadows, and shes mostly mute. shes found early on in the game and is taken care of by another one of the main characters named jowee

mike is a character u end up rescuing later on in the game, hes p confused and doesnt know how he got where he is, and hes also different from the other raposa bc he doesnt have ears like they do and kind of just looks like a normal human (even tho none of the raposa know what that is and they just think he looks rlly weird)

in the first game heather is shown to take a liking to mike but it isnt explained why and she doesnt talk to its left unexplained

so yah the first game ends with you, the hero, defeating wilfre. mari takes on the role of her father and becomes mayor of the town, and all of the raposa (+ mike) live happily in the town youve restored. the hero goes dormant because theyre no longer needed and u get a scene at the end of the game w them sitting by the ghost of maris father.

the SECOND game takes place a while after the first game, in which wilfre returns and captures heather at the beginning of the game. he also kidnaps a bunch of the other villagers and transports them somewhere else, and he drains the color out of the village the raposa were in. they end up fleeing on a giant turtle with an abandoned town on its back that appears while the color is draining from the village. inside mari and jowee find another mannequin similar to the one the creator had drawn the hero on in the first game. they pray to the creator for help and thats when u draw the hero u get to play as for that game!! the hero doesnt seem to remember mari and jowee or any of the events of the first game, but they agree to help them rescue heather and all of the villagers wilfre stole.

jowee also has like, this magic pendant that belonged to heather that he found after wilfre took her, which seems to be leading them to where heather is. they use that to navigate the turtle thru the ocean to a bunch of other islands on the world. the second game is basically about traveling to different islands and helping them restore the color thats been drained out of them by wilfre. you also meet these two characters, salem

who is a villain in the first island u travel to, and sock

who is a villager on the first island u visit who ends up befriending jowee and traveling with them while they try to save heather.

so ur doing all of that but THEN, halfway thru the game mari is shown to be talking to wilfre, and then she dissapears. jowee assumes wilfre has captured her too, but shes later seen on the turtle again, and rips out a bunch of pages in the book of life the way wilfre did in the first game, and then wilfre appears to take her away and says that shes working with him now. jowee is heartbroken but resolves to get her back as well as heather

THEN, sock, jowees friend from the first island whos been tagging along and helping out, is ALSO revealed to be wilfre in disguise and he betrays jowee and steals heathers pendent, leaving jowee with basically no means of finding heather and wikfre and mari by extension.

so eventually they do end up finding where wilfre is and mari is like “jowee you dont understand wilfre has shown me the truth of our world and who the creator is and thats why im helping him” and jowee is like “i cant believe yoy are helping him how could you i cant believe you bla bla bla” and so wilfre is like “FINE ill show you the TRUTH of this world” and takes jowee and then the hero is kind of left ln their own for a bit to like wander around the world and try to keep rescuing ppl and such. and eventually jowee comes back and is like shaken up but kind of vague abt what wilfre showed him, but he still decides to side with the hero and the creator and eventually mari is convinced by him to join them again as well

so u fight wilfre again and EVENTUALLY wilfre reveals that if you defeat him basically the entire world will dissapear and thats what hes been trying to avoid by fucking w things and messing with the book of life. so all of the raposa have a bunch existential crisis abt them ceasing to exist if they go thru with this but then they decide to to it anyway bc the alternative is just as bad blah blah and u go and kill wilfre and he does this when he dies which is cool

and now heather is back!! and her and mari and jowee are all talking about mike and how important he is and meanwhile mike has no clue whats going on and is kind of freaked out by all of this, but theyre all like “mike you need to wake up” as theyre all fading out of existence and shit around him and eventually him and heather are the only ones left and they dissapear too

and THATS when you get the ending and find out it was all like a dream mike was having while he was in a coma after a car crash anx this plays while the credits role lol https://youtu.be/Kur0qaYM1jM

^ they ended up releasing different versions oft he game w a less dark (but still w the whole ‘it was all a dream twist’) and thats it!!

there was also another game released for the wii that like gave wilfre a girlfriend kind of but i never played it to completion bc it used the wii remotes motion controls to like draw and shit and it was rly janky and hard so i never finished it and most ppl did the same. i kind of rlly want to try playing it again tho bc it was a p cute looking game even if the controls were fucked up

AND YEA thats drawn to life its a weird silly little series tht i was obsessed w when i was a kid and it still holds a special place in my heart :) i basicaly just spoiled the entire series i guess but if u have a ds or a 3ds (bc the game is backwards complatible ! ) id still suggest like getting a cartidge off ebay or something and playing it bc its honestly a rlly sweet and beautiful looking game and i think a lot of it still homds up even if the controls r rlly janky now

My personality, positives, negatives and such: Around new people I'd say I'm much calmer, polite and quite closed off. Some of my friends say I come off as a bit aloof to certain people or strangely kind to others. To my surprise I've had some people say I'm intimidating (like bruh why??)  In all honesty my personality really differs with who I'm with. When I'm with my friends though I'm much more outgoing and loud, I really enjoy going out with just different small groups of friends even if its just for a small lunch or anything - I just really enjoy being around those who both make me laugh and who I can make laugh. I can be really sarcastic and not afraid to have some playful banter aka: who can have the most creative insults - even if they don't make sense. I'm smart in things I enjoy and can go on and on about things i'm passionate about. I'm always looking out for my friends, making sure they don't stuff up, praising their achievements and putting them before myself. I'm pretty open-minded and flexible, say if one of my friends has a friend I dislike I'll always act nice and rarely complain and I'm good at adapting to different environments. Although I am rarely happy with my looks and I don't like trying new things with a fear of stuffing up or failing ESPECIALLY with team sports bruh. I have a bad habit of staying up until ungodly hours of the morning and not waking up until the afternoon.

Appearance: I'm 5'2/5'3-ish, half Indonesian-half British/White/Whatever, I have shoulder length fluffy/messy dark brown hair, dark brown eyes, i have a beauty spot near my nose on the right side of my face, tan-olive ish skin.

Music taste: I typically listen to pop, indie pop and sometimes alternative rock. My favourite songs though would have to be Left to Right (Marteen), Act my Age (One direction) and Scrawny (Wallows). Two playlist names I have are "Solo survival in minecraft vibes" and "pain" - Theyre weird ik LMAO

In a partner: I look for someone who can take a joke and can handle my sudden chaotic decisions and mood swings. ok this is also kinda a case of opposites attract, or at least at first glance it definitely is. bokuto is so loud and extroverted and outgoing so it’s really appreciated how youre more calm and able to somewhat tame him down a bit. he actually got so interested in you because of that, just like with akaashi he was drawn to the opposite personality to him. hes also gonna try and open you up more instead of being so closed off, like its his own little personal challenge to make you more comfortable with opening up, and once you do he’s vv happy. he loves how kind you are as well because i don’t think this bby could handle someone mean, he just needs love and support and then he’s yours forever. of course he loves playful teasing (he denies that he likes it directed at him but he actually loves it) but he wants your kinda subtle niceness in a partner. the way you put others beofre yourself helps him a lot as well because he needs and wants a lot of care so the fact that you’ll provide that for him is amazing and basically ideal. however he makes SURE you take care of yourself too, like he will not let you forget about your own needs and will make you put yourself first sometimes any way he can. sure it might take him a while to figure out your doing that, but once he does he’s gonna look out for you even closer after that. he loves how open minded you are too because it would be difficult if you weren’t open to the things he likes, like he wouldn’t be able to survive without your support. the positivity you show for the things he’s passionate about just makes him fall in love and adore you a million times more, if that was even possible.

oh my gosh he LOVES how when youre with him your whole personality just switches. no not with everything about you switches but when you become outgoing and loud he just can’t stop swooning because he loves how much laughter and enthusiasm he can hear from you which he doesn’t usually hear. it’s just when you both are loud and outgoing it’s so chaotic for everyone else but for you two it’s just fun and carefree. he���s kinda drawn to your sarcastic side because that’s not really him, and he just thinks it’s so funny when your a little annoyed and end up throwing some sarcastic snapback to someone. like i said before he loves having playful banter with you because it’s really fun, but he denies that he likes it when it’s aimed towards him. however he definitely likes it he just pretends he doesn’t. oh my goodness i can’t even explain how much he adores it when you ramble on and on about something you’re passionate about. seriously like he absolutely loves it. he thinks it’s so adorable how you get so excited and peppy when he brings up a topic you love and you can just talk about it for days on end. especially when he can see that sparkle in your eyes and just the sound of your voice, it just makes him fall in love all over again. also, he would CRUSH any insecurity you ever had, especially if it’s about your looks. he’s ADORES any body type and body size, beaty marks, skin color, hair type, height, body proportions, anything about you he will completely love. he will support and compliment you to no end to make you see how perfect you are, he will make sure you know your beauty.

i feel like bokuto really fits the description of what you like as well. he LOVES to make you laugh and is always throwing jokes around and he’s a very goofy and laughy guy, so he will laugh at your jokes all the time. he values communication as well because he doesn’t really understand when people give him subtle signs or hints, like he just won’t figure it out unless you tell him upright. so he’ll do the same to you naturally because he just assumes that you value that as well. he’s very spontaneous and just kinda goes with the flow of everything so sudden chaotic decisions wouldnt bother him a bit, actually he lives for them. he also has mood swings as well so he would totally understand what your going through when you have one and you both would know how to help eachother. bokuto might get a little offended if you playfully insult things like how he’s doing in your relationship, his playing skills, or something like that, but once you reassure him that it’s completely a joke he warms up to it. mostly everything else he understands is just teasing and the only reason he ACTS offended is because he wants you to believe he doesn’t like it, but trust me you both are very aware that he in fact loves it since he’s very easy to read. lastly, he loves loves loves random touches of affection, he seriously can get enough affection. please randomly touch him, even if it’s holding pinkies or kissing his cheek for .2 seconds he will s w o o n. here comes blushy and flustered bokuto, have fun :)) 💕

scenarios with the two of you:

•you just waiting for bokuto home and when he does he literally tackles you in a bear hug. he rambles on and on about his day and asks you about yours while also complimenting you somehow and your just sitting there giggling at his normal energized antics. he doesn’t let you leave your spot either so you two just stay there cuddling for the rest of the night.

•it was around midnight and bokuto texted you asking you if you wanted to go on a walk, obviously you were tired and confused but you could just see his pout through the screen so you went. you went on a walk while talking, well mostly him talking, and going to a random destination you didn’t know of and i’m not sure he did either. when you got too tired he carried you too(and don’t worry he’s strong as shit already and thinks it’s super easy to carry you :)) i mean look at those biceps-)

•it was in the middle of summer and you were having a bad day so bokuto took you out to someplace you didn’t know of. it ended up being a field and so you two lyed on the grass while enjoying looking at the stars and the perfect summer night breeze paired with the heat. you were playing music like scrawny by wallows and can i call you tonight by dayglow and both of your were silent, a very rare thing for both of you, especially bokuto. he wasn’t really looking at the stars though, he was looking at you.

you ever have that one muse that’s just like . . . no matter how many characters you play , not matter how much time goes by , you will never get sick of writing that muse & they’re such a huge comfort character and mean the world to you ?? YES , that’s me with miss zelda here . i . . . love zelda ( the character and the series ) with every fiber of my being and after a lot of debate i finally decided i’d bring her here !! i’m doing leon’s intro next and will try to get to replies ( want to get down zel’s intro soon but i’d like to plot things first ) afterwards but pls pls pls here’s a detailed plotting call for my princess !! pls like / react if you’re interested - or let me know if we’re already plotting !!

IN A CANON NUTSHELL : so this zelda is the princess from the masterpiece known as breath of the wild - one hundred years before the events of the game , she was kind of the ‘leader’ of the champions , a group of people who were tasked to aid in protecting hyrule once calamity ganon rose again . link , who was also a champion , was assigned as her personal knight - in the beginning . . . she did not like him for the fact that he seemed to have everything under control and she didn’t . why ?? well , zelda , from birth , was told she had to unlock a power in herself that would potentially save hyrule from the calamity , and for some reason , no matter how hard she tried , she couldn’t do it . and she was mad at herself for feeling like a failure when she was put under an intense amount of pressure from her father & the prophecy - even called the heir to a throne of nothing because of how no results came from her ceaseless prayers . EVENTUALLY , her powers would reveal themselves . . . but only after the calamity arrived , all of the champions had been downed ( save for link , on the verge of death ) , and all seemed lost . but she would use her power to protect hyrule & keep the calamity contained inside hyrule castle until link would awaken and finish him off .

IN AN ALUCARD NUTSHELL : so zelda . daughter of a preacher ( father ) & a lawyer ( mother , now deceased ) , always expected to be the picture perfect child hence why she never got much of a chance to have a break from endless studying & extra things . she’s always been a straight-a student , has done fencing since she was a child , trilingual in english spanish & mandarin chinese , now a star college student majoring in biology ( her own choice , because she loves science ) and minoring in law ( because her father wants her to be a lawyer like her mother & she uhh hates it ! ) she’s seen as ‘little miss perfect’ because she can do so much and never seems to do any wrong but zelda is uhhh sick of that and is actually now trying to rebel against her father and throw herself into trouble . since lowkey all of this shit is killing her and she wants to breathe freely . she’s trying to do what she wants to do hence why she’s majoring in bio instead of law , working at the local florist instead of taking a law internship , actually trying to pursue a social life outside of the people her dad approves of . that stuff . she’s basically a genius who wants to say ‘fuck u’ to the people telling her what to do and go on her own path and i think that’s sexy .

BUT OHHHHHHHHHH YOU WANNA PLOT WITH ZELDA SO BAD OHHHHHHH

so zelda . given her situation ?? there is so much to work with . lemme spout off these ideas bc i’m so fucking excited .

firstly - people who know about her little miss perfect reputation and either dislike her or are intimidated by her for it . zelda isn’t a snob in the slightest but with someone who does as much as she does it’s only natural to assume she is . but she isn’t , i promise ; she hates that being her epithet .

kind of building off the idea of people knowing abt her whole ‘lmp’ thing - i’d love some folks who actually entertain zelda’s desires to break away from that and take her out to do rebellious shit or something like that !! because zelda wants to get the fuck out she hates it here .

some who encourage her and some who do the opposite - ‘you can do it, don’t be scared’ vs. ‘you really don’t belong here so go back to your books and pencils’

maybe ppl who hold zelda to some sort of pedestal bc of her reputation ?? which is equally as bad to her - she’s lowkey crumbling under all these expectations and she’s amazing but to be seen as someone . . . above other people , she doesn’t like that at all .

also those folks who in any grade of school rly have tried to exploit her need to get good grades & genius to their advantage aka if i pair up with the smart kid we’ll get an a guaranteed . can be anywhere - could’ve been in the past or could be now . 

CLASSMATES in general . from elementary , middle school , high school for the past , and now college classmates .

study buddies !! study buddies that zelda either vibes with immensely in terms of how she works or butts heads with them . her way of thinking is both incredibly organized but also all over the place . she can be either very easy or difficult to work with .

gimme some school rivals or equals aka ppl that zelda’s on par with in terms of intellect/grades and either they fucking hate each other or make a pretty good team . maybe both ! put the smart ppl in a room together and see what happens .

also want to clarify this can be on both the bio or law side for any of these college-based connections bc zelda is taking both she’s just . way more passionate about biology than she is law .

OLD FENCING TEAMMATES OR RIVALS PLEASE yes she is still fencing to this day and she’s awesome at it . she’s got a shitton of medals and she actually likes it but it’s another thing that was forced upon her since she was young .

her dad is a local preacher so by nature she’s always expected to be at church so ppl who know her as the preacher’s daughter/from church bc imma keep it real zelda ain’t that enthused abt that religion either but again . once again have to fill father’s expectations . one day tho she’s just gonna stop showing up .

i’d like maybe a social circle who zelda’s father approves of ?? like , friends who zelda has but they’re more so just bc that’s what mr. king wanted . i’d also like a partner/ex-partner to fit this description aka zelda’s not rly that into it or was into it bc it was again . kinda just ‘i’m just dating you bc my dad approves of you’ kinda deal and maybe she tried but overall . didn’t/doesn’t work .

i also , though , like the idea of a social circle who zelda’s father would never approve of and she hangs w/ them bc maybe she likes them or maybe she also just wants to prove a point . maybe she dated someone for this reason too - just the whole spectrum of ‘what dad wants vs. what dad wasn’t’ bc pissing off her dad is kind of a major goal at this point .

so maybe regular customers of the flower shop she works at - she just . zelda rly loves flowers & nature ( and again science as a whole , especially life science hence biology ) and she can go off on so many tangent about flowers please talk to her about flowers . maybe even bring her some flowers too jk unless

i’d rly find it awesome if zelda had some ppl who maybe liked her enough to follow her when she goes out just studying things and listen to her bc she loves to talk about her passions - she likes taking hikes and trips out into nature or the botanical gardens and stuff like that to do studies / experiments of her own . she likes museums , gardens , the outdoors - zelda loves knowledge and learning about things and if someone just kept her company while she did so that’d be awesome .

i’m a sucker for canon parallels with non-canon characters so . maybe a relationship that doesn’t rly have any specificity in what portion of zelda’s life ( school , father approved social circle , father disapproved social circle , night life etc etc ) but mirrors her relationship with link in breath of the wild - for whatever reason , zelda and this other character are around each other very frequently and the beginning for some reason she is very put off by it but then comes around and eventually this muse , they become extremely closer with her and important to her . in any way !! idk if it’s platonic or romantic but , in rps like this that’s lowkey my jam but it works the best with miss zelda

LOLOLOL I’M SO LATE TO GETTING TO THIS I’M SORRY ASJDASKDJASLD (I rly gotta clean up my asks/inbox sooner or later qwq)

Quintin is feeling pretty nervous!! It’s his first day after all, though luckily enough Seisear is in Heartslabyul too so he’s not feeling too much dread. Quin just wants to get through the entire school years by without anything drastic or problem happening…. (Well, he won’t exactly get his wish due to the dumbass group lol)

Seisear on the other hand is quite thrilled to be going back to school, since it means that it will be another year that he gets to “fulfil [his] wish”.… that, and he’s just generally excited seeing the school and being able to prank on his dorm mates again~. (And it’s another year again of being a thorn on Riddle’s side yet again, *sigh*)

Lala is NOT happy. Like. AT ALL. She’s pouting as Shir is trying to remind her about their deal that they made during their death match. Lala doesn’t wanna go to “this stuck-up school full of know-it-alls”…. But she IS a king of her word, and a deal was a deal. She just sighs and immediately sets a goal of taking down whoever is her dorm leader. (She actually did challenge Leona. It ended in a draw, of sorts.)

Ophiou is extremely anxious to the point he doesn’t wanna go to school at all, but he does anyways since he promised his mom he would do his best. Like Quin, he doesn’t want to get involved any trouble during this year, and/or the next, either… so his solution to that is to simply try his absolute best to blend into the crowd and draw as little attention as possible. (Again, with the dumbass group around, impossible :P)

Cirnu isn’t sure if she feel excited or something, but assumes that it’s like that. She can’t wait to see the same old faces, but even more so simply cannot wait to see the new junior students. Sure, they may test her patience every now and then, but she always forgives them in the end since that’s how children are~. (Once again, she ends up trying to remind everyone again about inviting Malleus to any occasion/party while Lilia is finding this amusing all over again)

Berebis is totally 100% neutral, well, to be specific… HE COULD NOT GIVE A SINGLE SHIT. Bel doesn’t expect this year to be exciting or thrilling or whatever in the slightest; it wasn’t last year, so why should he expect the same of this year? … well, the only thing he’s looking forward to is the Potions class and snoozing off in the library again, so that’s that. (His attitude quickly irritates Sebek despite being the latter’s senpai, to which Bel clearly doesn’t give a fuck about)

Fuyume… has no idea how to feel. I mean, sure it’s her first day at NRC, but she doesn’t feel anything at all… well, not entirely. There’s a tiny part of her that’s feeling… what she thinks is nervousness, though even then she’s largely detached from it. Fuyu just patiently deals with everything, unemotive as usual. (Though even she is quite surprised at how…. Many “unique” people there are; and by unique she means, loud, noisy, all over the place, etc.)

Viviane is super excited to be going back to school~! The amount of new faces she’ll see and meet, the old faces she’ll reunite with, the new and potentially exciting school activities… she simply cannot wait! Viv just wants to make friends with and get to know all the new students while also rekindling old friendships~. (MC interests her the most due to their unique circumstance)

Leviotan is being Leviotan as usual; he doesn’t care. Well, not entirely— Lev minds about whether or not the newbies/juniors will be either even slightly fun or a complete waste of time, and keeps a close eye on Viviane to ensure nothing bad happens to her. (He’s watching over MC and Grim like a hawk whenever they interact with Viv; he’s not the type of person to judge based on word of mouth, but he can’t help it when his sister’s involved somehow)

Orchis is… well… unknown. Though they can’t help BUT feel thrilled at being “back at school”. They do remember that they once attended NRC in the past, but Orchis can’t remember what their school life was like; was it exciting? was it depressing? Who knows. But at any rate, for Orchis, this is a second chance in of its own– a second chance to relive the time lost to them~! (They’re MC and Grim’s only other dorm mate, if only due to their circumstances)

Hokusai is, funnily enough, DREADING another year. Sure he’s already long gotten used to being a teacher at this point, but it still doesn’t mean that he can’t help but internally face palm whenever the students do something stupid. Hoku still thinks they’re all cute though, even the most headache-inducing ones, and will continue to genuinely watch over them… unlike in the past. (He takes GREAT INTEREST in the MC and Grim, since they’re unknown factors that Crowley let stay)

Shir is already graduated so he doesn’t have to go to school anymore, though he does remember his very first day and longingly looks back on it with a chuckle as he’s telling Lala about NRC and what she can expect from there. He occasionally visits the school whenever he’s not busy to check up on Lala and perhaps catch up with the Savanaclaw dormitory. (Leona jokes that Shir should attend again since he seems so attached to the school; he declines, saying it would be too embarrassing and he already has his responsibilities)
