Thorns (E), 18k, andreil // a post-canon fic where andrew and neil cope with doing a long distance relationship when u both have fatal levels of attachment issues lol. i spent a stupid long time on this fic for the word count, but there is love in every single word. i like this universe bc it's what i want for post-canon andreil. no one gave them the tools for this shit, but i love the idea that they will always figure out how to be together, even if its messy.

No Turning Back (E), 31k, andreil // this is perhaps recency bias, but i think this is the best thing ive ever written. i have a hard time summarizing it.. but it's an au where the conflict is almost entirely in andrew's head, which of course means he Causes Many Problems. i actually built this fic out from Andrew's fucked up internal journey, which was cool for me -- like, the main plot was developed to fit his character arc. i think that's probably not rocket science or unique but it was my first time doing it that way!

We Can Live Forever (T), 46k, andreil // i used to not like hs aus and then i wrote a huge one lol. its childhood best friends-lovers, and centered on this ridiculous lip sync serenade fundraiser ?? i made them all dance. a lot. sometimes its serious, but its mostly very silly. i wrote it w the intention of giving people that "read until 4am screaming into ur pillow bc cute aggression" feeling that so many fics have given me, and the feedback ive gotten implies ive succeeded, so im rly proud of that!!

Stoner AU (E), 21k, snowbaz // i'm cheating a bit because this is a series, but i almost consider this thing to be like a collection of sitcom episodes lol. it's a normal au, simon is a weed guy and baz buys from him and also falls in love w him. theres a lot of penny and shep and its all just very FUNNY imo. and they are all so fucking devoted to each other in kind of unhinged ways. i love rereading these fics.

I'll Come Back To You (T), 6.9k, andreil // ok, for 1: that's the exact word count. every time i fix typos on rereads i have to edit it to preserve the wc. but 2: this fic is Not Silly or Smutty LOL. it's probably my plottiest/most serious fic in some ways -- it deals w, like, multiple dimensions ?? and amnesia. and loneliness. i'm proud of the ambiguity, because i tend to be a writer that punches you in the face with The Theme. this one leaves a lot for the reader to figure out (to the dissatisfaction of some commenters lol), but i like that you have to think about it a bit.

flashes of intimacy (T), 7k // this is a series of fifteen <500 word fics that i add to pretty often, so it also makes sense that it's got a lot of readers! ive always been proud of my ability to write short, so it makes me happy that it's up here. it wld probs be #6 on my personal rating.

Inside Thoughts (T), 1.5k // andrew gets his wisdom teeth out and is a goober about it. one of my first aftg fics -- i think it's up here bc it's almost a year old. i am not passionate abt it tbh, i wrote it kind of as a joke one night while i was high lmfao

Do Not Disturb (T), 2k // another of my first aftg fics that i kind of dont care much about hahaha. it's another catnip situation, a post-canon moment where neil panics & unconsciously calls andrew, similarly to how he does in canon. and then they r soft <3

Tequila Sunrise (M), 4k // i know people love this one -- it's also my most bookmarked. it's fun!! drunk neil!! but i almost can't read it anymore lol. there's some prose im proud of in there, but there's also some lazy characterization choices i made bc i had no idea it would get so many hits. its hard for me as the Characterization Guy to reconcile that hahaha.

ok as usual that was long-winded as hell. i love 2 talk abt writing :) also i feel bad 4 the lack of snowbaz representation here lol, but i think that i'm 1. better at writing andreil and 2. have gotten a lot better at writing while i was unemployed the last few months. i think a lot abt taking snowbaz for another whirl now, but consider: then i wouldn't get to write abt Andrew Minyard :(

bear with me while I have some thoughts about two scenes/lines that they were absolutely INSANE to include in the same episode

I am, of course, talking about “his name is Blackbeard or Captain” VS “his name is Ed”

I’m sure tons of people have already talked about these two moments from episode 10 but I’m new to the fandom and having thoughts and am physically incapable of NOT writing this entire post <3

So firstly, Izzy’s aggressive tone VS Stede’s gentle one. This one tiny detail is literally making me insane. Because there’s Izzy, thinking he’s doing the right thing, building Ed up, keeping him in his position as a commander as always. He’s being harsh and aggressive because that’s what he’s like, that’s what the Ed he knows is like, that’s what he’s used to and he can’t accept that there has been a pretty dramatic change. I believe Izzy truly does care about Ed, but his way of showing that is through putting him on a pedestal, making him untouchable, putting down everyone else around him. He tries to show his care through his actions and his determination. He does not see Ed as his equal, only ever as his superior.

Then there’s Stede’s softness. Soft voice, soft expression, soft everything. He never once tries to put Ed in some godlike position of worship - sure, like the rest of the crew there’s admiration for the world’s greatest pirate, but he always treats Ed like an equal. He shows his love for Ed in this one sentence, through these few little words in a way that Izzy never could. It’s the equality Stede shows Ed that is the biggest sign of their love, and it’s this understanding of him that makes Stede’s “his name is…” so much more meaningful than Izzy’s. Izzy has respect for Ed, sure, and he loves him in one way or another - but he will never, could never, love and understand him the soft, subtle, equal way that Stede does.

It’s also about Stede knowing Ed better than Izzy does too, I suppose. It’s Stede’s understanding of Ed, even after such a short time of knowing him, that leads him to be so much softer, so much more personal, so much more human.

Then there’s what happens directly after each of these lines, and oh boy, this is where I lose my mind.

Directly after Izzy’s line, Ed says that he actually does want to be called Ed. Directly after Stede’s line, Ed pushes Lucius off the boat. Both of these are direct contradictions of what both of them think about Ed and they throw EVERYTHING into question.

Izzy’s line and Ed’s response are a clear indication of the change Stede’s departure has had on Ed. It shows this emotional side of him, out in full force unlike we’ve ever seen it before. It shows how willing and ready Ed was to move on, how much he wants to leave Blackbeard behind, how much was really resting on his relationship with Stede. It shows how vulnerable he’s become, dropping every act and pretence, being the Ed that only Stede knew in front of everyone. It’s this that gives Stede’s “his name is…” so much weight, because up until then we think the same - his name is Ed, that’s what he wants, that’s who he’s discovered himself as.

But then Stede says his line and the next shot is Ed pushing Lucius off the boat. A total u-turn. Because Stede’s recognition of what love is, his acceptance and readiness to be with Ed forever - it’s all come too late. Suddenly we have to question whether this understanding Stede has means anything at all, whether Izzy’s “his name is…” is actually more accurate, whether Edward Teach is really Stede’s version or Izzy’s version or someone neither of them truly know. So sure, “his name is Ed” means everything to Stede, but everything it meant to Ed is erased the very next moment.

Which is why they were absolutely insane to include these two lines so close because it’s so much to unpack and such a testament to Izzy, Stede, and even Ed himself. It showcases the most fundamental differences between Stede and Izzy, then Ed comes along and throws everything up in the air again. It writes and rewrites so much about what we already know about these characters and their stories in just a few moments and I am very much not okay (in the best way possible).

I'm wondering if you perhaps have any thoughts or headcanons on him, family, hobbies, his inner thoughts, cause I wanna flesh him out for my fic and stuff. I'll give you credit for the ideas of course

even though I'm not that active in the xs fandom currently you've surprisingly come to the right person bc I've rambled a bit about raimundo hcs before to my friends. I had to dig up some discord messages to find all my hcs

I hc raimundo to be white-passing and mixed race, which is like the majority of brazilian ppl tbh. side note: in brazil "race" is defined almost solely by skin color, so like if I left my country it's possible I'd be considered a person of color because of my features, but in brazil I'm considered white. raimundo would be in a similar situation

so in these discord messages past!lucas has said "the only mentions of his background is that he has 8 siblings with a lots of aunts and uncles" and "he mentions that the 'rough' part of rio is his 'element'". now, I, lucas of the present, barely rmr this bc it's been forever ago since I watched xs, but I'm trusting past!lucas on this I think he would never lie to me. based on that I'm a fan of the theory raimundo is an orphan and grew up as part of the lower class. I don't think I ever theorized what the fuck happened to his parents, but I like the idea of him acquiring abandonment issues because of it. since he grew up poor I think he'd also have a lot of survival skills, knowing how to make due with very little, etc.

I actually just thought abt this but it's very uncommon for latino people to only have two names. I myself have four, bc the family names just keep adding on top of each other when u marry instead of being absorbed into the husband's name. so realistically raimundo would probably has at least one other family name

not exactly a hc but something interesting to note about mundo is that he is a good example of something we call a "malandro" in brazil. a malandro is a brazilian concept of a cunning anti-hero who outsmarts, deceives and takes advantage of others, usually for personal gain. describing it like this makes it sound like a bad word, but it has a positive connotation. like culturally being malandro is considered a good thing. we even have a saying that goes like "every day a malandro (in this case a scammer) and a sucker (in this case the one who gets scammed) leave their houses.", implying that if you're not the one taking advantage of others, you're the one being taken advantage of. I don't think this was intentional on the xs writers' part to make raimundo embody these traits so perfectly that r culturally significant to brazil but and I find it interesting.

similar thing to above we also have something called "gambiarra", which is like achieving something through improvised means instead of the "correct" (and usually more expensive) way. also very important to brazilian culture and I think raimundo would be adept in it

So,, I feel like we can all recognise that teen stsg are complete and utter losers BUT there are quite a few scenes in the anime that make it obvious that the both of them are capable of being serious to protect people when it’s necessary.. and it made me think of how they would react if you got seriously injured hmmm HMMMMM (this totally isn’t yummy to me because I wanna see feral protective stsg…. Totally…..) or maybe it’s a lil like when Toji told sugu that he killed satoru hhhh … like ur all on a mission together and u get separated somehow and satoru is like “where tf did y/n go 🙁🙁” and whoever they’re fighting comes outta nowhere like “oh I killed th-“ 💥💥💥💥💥💥 ‘n it turns out you’re just a little injured 😭😭 but I feel like they’d be sooo dramatic and worried about you :( and satoru “jokes” that now they won’t be able to leave u alone incase u get injured again…he’s just gonna have to keep an eye on u and protect u forever and ever (he means it) and sugu js goes full mother mode like he’s forcing u to stay in bed, makes you soup, reminds u to take pain meds and listens to every word of advice the doctor gives to help u recover from the injury 💔💔 hrherh I know this wasn’t as long as my usual asks but I thought it was cute and I’ve been thinking about the stupid losers all day… can’t wait to see the sashisu thing uve been working on too !! i got carried away phfkdjkdkf BUT I LOVE YOUUU STSG ANON and i love this concept sm…….. they’re both papabears :((( i feel like satoru gets a lot more serious when you’re injured, while suguru gets more meek than usual…. it’s kind of a reversal of their usual roles but it’s great bc they balance each other out !! :3 like. in the scenario above i feel like satoru might get frustrated bc they told you to be careful not to slip on the ice or whatever but suguru is there to remind him that you’re in pain and that it was an accident :(( and when it’s a more minor injury i think suguru is the one to get slightly condescending bc why would you go out into the rain without a jacket?? /obviously/ you’d catch a cold, dummy. and satoru is there to defend your honour with his life LMAO…… they’re sooo so silly.

Ok, it's about time I talk about this blog for a little bit.

Don't look so scared! There's good news ahead!

Alright, so it's obvious by now that I've kind of fallen out of the Obey Me! fandom. Before Nightbringer came out, I just burned out with the constant events and the difficulty in progressing through the main story and levelling up cards. Plus, I had gotten pretty invested in Twisted Wonderland and Genshin Impact, so my attention just never stuck with Obey Me. Eventually I drifted away to other blogs for other fandoms, leaving this one in the dust. I may have said that I wasn't leaving for good, but inspiration never struck me, so it was kind of like I had given up anyway.

I've been playing Nightbringer casually since it came out, and I'll be honest...it has the same problems as OG Obey Me. However, I am still kind of interested in the main story, and my love for Solomon has been reinvigorated <3 (Not that I ever stopped, of course.) I was hoping I'd get at least a few ideas to toss into the void, but alas...that didn't happen either, and I'm not the kind of person who can or wants to force myself to write.

So, where's the good news?

Well, I'm not ready to say I'm done with Obey Me for good. I'll be honest with you right now: any Obey Me fics will probably be few and far between. This is due to a variety of factors, including but not limited to a general decrease in fixation and the simple fact that I'm older and have a lot more to focus on in my life. But I do still have a soft spot for these boys (mostly Solomon. It's like 99% Solomon.), and I miss you guys! I still get notifs every day and I'm honored and astounded that people still like my works. Even though I have a LONG list of complaints with Obey Me at this point, being in this fandom has never been boring or negative for me. I've genuinely missed the experiences and connections I made here that I lost with my dwindling presence in the fandom.

So, FINALLY, here's where the good news is: I don't think I'm finished with Obey Me. I will still be pretty absent on this blog for a while, but I've decided on a plan that will help me feel less stressed to write whatever I want.

Sometime in the future - so, not right now (and in fact it will probably be a while) - I plan on remaking my blogs. I'm going to start an all-new x reader blog, much like this one, but multifandom. That way, when I feel like writing for a fandom I'm not all that present in anymore, I won't feel guilty for resurrecting a dead account and potentially giving you all false hope.

When this time comes, I'll be a little annoying with the promo to ensure that you won't miss it. There's no guarantee, but I'm really hoping that this blog will be permanent for my reader insert writing, rather than my trend of making a new blog per fandom.

I don't expect you to follow it or even really care, of course. Even though I have built a healthy separation between myself and my online presence, I did still feel a little bad about leaving you all hanging. I'm sure it gets annoying when I'm constantly promoing blogs and changing my URLs, but......well, I apologize for the inconvenience ^u^

Before you leave, let me tell you two more things!

1.) My old NSFW blog, solomonish-afterdark, is no longer a NSFW-only blog. I haven't removed any of my fics, but I reblogged a lot of my old fics on various blogs to that account. It's now sort of a fanfic archive! I was originally planning to use that as my catch-all fandom writing acc, but I just didn't like the organization of that. I can't explain it lol but it was just STRESSING ME OUT. So I changed the url (it's now @/sampologist) and it'll probably stay as an archive forever. Sorry :(

I was hardcore dotaeist ..(i still am coz they gives me butterflies with their friendship).......I stan dy...he is my ultimate bias...even my bias wrecker too...I think I am in a state that I can't give his place to anyone...I love him as a singer,idol,smart and for a kind nd caring person etc....

How I get into shipping??..it is easy when u love someone u want the others to do the same thing....u knw dotae is a big ship...nd when I come to knw it they already have a couple ring...eventhough it is tom nd jerry relationship u will definitely knw how ty loves and adores his little brother ...so I cant just leave that fact out..I like the way dy loved..nd ty is the leader and everyone accept their dynamic even the membrs...it was when they had the link concert in japan when ty said there is someone in his life for the past 7 years and 127members all along said it is dy..ofcrs they were kidding...but dont knw why at that moment I fall for them entirely...

So I am going to be brutally honest.....so jaedo was a dead ship for me....but i come to knw the fact that it was very big ...and come to knw somany accnts in insta and Twitter. ..and who is jae he is the most popular among neos...dont get the wrong idea of me but it is the truth...I like the concept of dy got to shipped with the most popular and handsome member from nct...it got me really hooked...nd ofcrs u would knw when u want to follow something u need some evidence and proof to make ur opinion strong..so I watched all shipping vedeos of jaedo...ok there are already shippers who proved their theory and made the vedeos...so I got such little thing to follow jaedo as a ship....and there were lot of dotae moments in 127 concert the link...where tae posted dy in his story nd also they tried putoff dy's tshirt coz dy teased ty...and finally that happend the cindrella moment of jaedo....I was really shocked nd impressed by jaes daring action. ...the total strangers during concerts just did what...and jae was full on it..coz he kinda stopped dy and put the shoes and lifted the pants without even flinching.....I thought what was it....so I searched it again and again untill ur blog showed up before my eyes...and the name was totally interesting which is what I really needed....so iopend it....nd u can guess what is ur role in opening my eyes into the world of jaedo...not only for this moment but I got answers to almost everything that i dont even doubted before..after all this I dont have time to look for other ship...cos i like real things rather than imaginations...but i am still in the middle of the reading..so let me knw heifer u delete it...need time to complete. ..haha....

Could it be because TaeDo are so open about their relationship, so there is little room for imagination and pretense? (I very seldom see TaeDo shippers who believe they are real and not ship them because of their friendship, can't be said about JohnDo, JaeWoo, JaeYong). Or, perhaps, other ships with Tae are more attractive? (not a singing geek with an artsy dork)

Some new shippers also started to ask question after a particular moment. If my memory serves me right, there was Jaehyun taking a toy gun to reload out of Do's hands silently and TaeDoJae in one bed scene.

Many fans come late and don't get deep into the history of the group, get most of their information from social media. Get wrong impressions and continue to be active in the fandom very sure they know what's what and can now teach others. This is why either the "oldies" or the original material (shows, interviews) are the sources to believe, not what's easily seen on twitter. Not on the topic, but Jaehyun not being acknowledged as one of the 3 best vocals in NCT is such a case. Jaehyun and Haechan were elevated in 127 to main vocal position after a few years. Haechan was always the main vocal of Dream unit anyway, however, with Jaehyun the change never stuck with the crowd who only measure by official labels (not being specialists themselves). Plus in recent years he didn't have many prominent parts in A-sides.

ok so as a fandom we’ve kind of placed nesta into this box as a hot headed short tempered violent girl but as i reread acosf i’m wondering where that girl is?

obviously feyre and rhys in the intervention scene talk about nesta being completely out of control and it being impossible to speak to nesta and that nesta could never accept help

but … honestly other than throwing a pretty mild (in my opinion) temper tantrum when she was told about getting locked up in the house of wind, she pretty much accepts the help quite quick. she doesn’t train like a couple times. gets over her ‘alcohol addiction’ in like 2 days. starts eating right the very next day. doesn’t give any problems ever about working in the library. so i’m wondering where this vicious horrible nesta that refused help is, or maybe it’s just the ic leaving nesta to her issues and then blindsiding her with an intervention without actually trying to help her first?

after the first couple chapters, nesta is pretty much just snarky and not a verbal abusing bitch. even through all the times where amren insults her, nesta just stays quiet. same with rhys. everytime rhysands comes for and attacks nesta she doesn’t actually give the same energy back.

after sleeping with cassian for the first time she’s pretty much ready to be with him forever even though she spent two years doing her best to avoid him. she has literally NO qualms about being with him. she never insults him anymore. her only issue is the mating bond but she gets over that in like a day after nessian’s argument. nesta hates training initially but is ready to devote her life to being a warrior general in like two weeks.

nesta hates the inner circle? literally where. she never truly comes for them ever in the book. doesn’t actually come for them. never actually insults mor. just snarky comments to herself here and there. the worst she calls rhysand is an ‘arrogant prick’ like come on this is giving middle school beef not actual hate. and the way the inner circle talks about and treats nesta you’d think she murdered their children or something

my point is that nesta is described as this very difficult person to deal with (and she definitely has her moments) but she always does what they tell her to. they want her to train, she trains. to work in a library, she works in a library. scry and go on missions for them, she does it (even if she’s afraid of her powers) she literally spends the entire book doing everything they tell her to. down to wearing the clothes cassian tells her to. i feel like she doesn’t have much actual autonomy in her life, it makes me a little sad.

anyway obviously nesta has her moments where she makes u want to shake her but honestly when it actually comes down to it. the inner circle are able to very easily completely control every aspect of her life.

I think that when we look at Nesta's journey and then think about acosf in that context, her anger is still present, but the girl is Tired.

Nesta does refuse to train (I remember her refusing to listen to Cassian while knowing that she is undermining his authority in front of his men) and she gets mad about the food. The reason she and Amren got into that fight is because Feyre wanted her to train her powers, and Nesta refused. She had to be persuaded by Elain to let the queens use their house in the mortal lands.

I think that at the end of acofas, Nesta is at the end of her rope and knows that she needs help, but she is resistant almost by instinct. She can't help herself.

IMO Nesta doesn't hate the IC so much as she is... maybe jealous of their closeness? Imagine trying to break into that friend group, imagine knowing that your sister has integrated into them, and imagine knowing that these people have power, and that you basically have to hang out with them because you have no other options. (This is a similarity Nesta shares with Az, imo, because he is also feeling like an outsider in the IC, despite being welcomed and their friend.) Nesta has no choice but to hang around these people and she doesn't know if she likes them, they seem like smug, self-righteous fae who have no clue what she's going through (which is fair, they don't, but she doesn't give them a chance to find out either), and she's dealing with her own shit.

I don't think that the IC - or at least Feyre and Elain - did this at all. It was clear in acofas that Nesta was struggling. Feyre was enabling Nesta by paying her bills, they tried to help her integrate into the Night Court, Mor made friendly overtures, Amren was Nesta's friend. Other than Rhys, they all tried to welcome Nesta. I think that they were trying to help her, but weren't in a position to do so effectively. They tried to welcome her and make her comfortable, and then they enabled her, and then they left her to her own devices, and then they realized that none of those approaches were working.

Part of me wants to reread acosf, but part of me also needs a big ol' break from sjm. I feel like it's harder to talk about it accurately when it's been a year, but also everyone's perceptions have been altered by the fandom!
