RED, WHITE & ROYAL BLUE (2023) dir. Matthew Lopez
I want to talk about this. There are many great moments that Nicholas Galitzine acted to bring Henry to life. But this one, this is everything to me. It encompasses every word written about Henry in the novel and script. I cried a lot for many reasons during the movie. Most of the tears were because of happiness, happy to see these characters I loved for so long and so deeply in my mind- on a screen. But this moment, it took me back to a place many years ago, and instances that occur even today, of pains caused by societal pressures and standards and the invasion of my vulnerabilities.
While what Henry is experiencing here is much more complex than anything I have ever had to deal with, it is still such a perfect portrayal of anguished resilience that made me love him so much. There's a lot of praise for this movie, but with that, is a lot of people saying it's a silly rom-com, too. But this scene and many others, if you've ever "been" like Alex or Henry, you know it's not silly at all. It's amazing to me that we get to see a film like this, something I never would've guessed 20 years ago that I would ever see.
This movie doesn't end here, it is full of hope and love. Henry goes through Hell here in this scene, but he and Alex do get a happy ending. It's becoming less rare in Queer cinema now for that to occur, but I haven't seen it quite like this before. With moments like this one that rip your heart open, and still end happily with endless possibilities for the couple.

Bradley shifts for what feels like the fifth time, eyes darting to your frame every few seconds. You’re not paying much attention to him, like everyone else you’re actually trying to enjoy the movie Bob had figured out how to set up on the backyard projector.
Though it’s been several, several years, backyard movies were practically a Bradshaw tradition back when Bradley’s dad was alive. Nick had even gone so far as investing in those vintage popcorn machines, shoveling bags of it in those classic, pinstripe cartons for the neighborhood kids who swarmed his backyard. He always played the classics, insisting it was important for Bradley and Giselle to be cultured in cinema. And while Carole would argue that maybe Giselle was a little young for The Godfather, Nick always covered her eyes during the gory parts.
Bradley had missed those nights more than he realized, even now he misses them. He misses the taste of fresh, salted popcorn on his tongue—that vintage popcorn machine stopped working years ago so Admiral Simpson saw no reason to take it in the move, and the Bradshaw family has since resorted to microwave popcorn which tastes almost bitter in comparison. He misses locking eyes with his dad’s wiggling eyebrows, grin twitching under his mustache, whenever he understood a joke that wasn’t quite for kids. He misses the way his mom cried at everything sentimental and his dad would tease her a bit before pulling her into his side with a kiss to her temple.
Now his mom’s eyes get misty at an emotional scene and she wipes them with her fingers when she thinks no one’s looking.
All of it makes Bradley feel uncomfortable. It makes his throat thick and his hands tremble slightly. He doesn’t want to do any of this without his dad, it doesn’t feel right. It feels like they moved on too fast, like his mom got married, and his sister stopped crying every Father’s Day. Bradley’s not ready to move on, not from this. He wants his old vintage popcorn machine and the classic movies that everyone should watch.
He wants his dad.
You get up suddenly and Bradley can hear you quietly tell Giselle that you’re getting some water from the kitchen before you start making your way to the sliding glass door. Bradley watches the door close behind you, his fingers fidgeting as he tries to keep his concentration on the large projection of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Still in the back of his mind, he can’t stay focused and without you in front of him to flit his gaze to every few seconds, it’s harder and harder to sit still.
Unable to hold himself back from it any longer, Bradley gets up from his blanket on the grass, not even bothering to come up with an excuse to Javy as to why he was leaving. Not that the other boy even cared or noticed, Bradley was able to make it all the way to the kitchen without being questioned.
You’re getting water from the fridge filter, looking up in mild surprise when you hear the door slide open. Upon realizing it’s Bradley, you visibly relax and he watches a small smile take over your face. “Hey,” you greet quietly, even though you're quite a few feet away from the movie watchers.
Bradley nods. “Hey.”
“Just getting some water?” You question, gesturing to the fridge with your cup before you take a sip.
“Yeah, I—” Bradley clears his throat when his voice comes out weaker than intended. “I guess.”
Your brows furrow slightly and you purse your lips, setting your drink down as you take Bradley in with a much more analytical gaze. “Are you okay?”
And Bradley wants to say that yes, he is okay. Because he is, or he should be. Bradley doesn’t know why he can’t seem to move on like the rest of his family, why he feels like this from just watching a movie in his backyard. And he hates that you can see that so quickly, how you always sense what’s wrong with him like he’s that readable.
So he does what he does best, ignoring your question with another, sudden clear of his throat. “Do you wanna go to my room?”
Your eyes widen in surprise, lips parting slightly, and you look entirely caught off guard. Bradley watches your eyes drift to the backyard behind him, to all your friends sitting on lawn blankets watching a movie. It occurs to Bradley now that you might say no. And it also occurs to him that he really doesn’t want you to.
Finally you turn your attention back to him, something unreadable in your eyes, and you nod your head meekly. “Um,” you wet your lips, “okay.”
Bradley holds back his sigh of relief, instead running a hand through his curls just so he has something to do with his fingers.
Though you both seem to agree, neither of you make a move to leave the kitchen, both just watching the other like some confusing game of follow the leader where you’re not quite sure who’s following who. Finally Bradley can’t take the silence and he gestures to the pantry.
“Should I bring snacks?”
“If you want,” you offer shyly.
Again the conversation falls dead. Bradley doesn’t really know when it started that he started acting like a damn teenager, but he doesn’t like it. If only to save himself from blurting out something stupid, Bradley grabs a random bag of caramel and cheese popcorn from the pantry.
“After you,” he gestures towards the staircase, the bag of popcorn rattling in his grip.
He watches your shoulders lift and fall in a breath and then you’re making your way out of the kitchen, leaving your glass of water behind. Bradley follows after you with one last glance to the back door. Like he suspected, all your friends are still too distracted to realize you’re missing. Of course he knows they’ll realize eventually and he’ll never hear the end of it when they do, but Bradley can’t bring himself to care. He just doesn’t want to be alone.
Your feet still when they make it to Bradley’s door and you turn to face him like you want to check again that he’s even being serious. You seem to be too embarrassed to even ask because you shut your mouth quickly, avoiding his gaze to open the door with a bit of an almost frantic force.
Bradley watches with bated breath as you take in his childhood room. Part of him worries you’ll judge it - the football posters on the walls, the trophies from little league that shouldn’t be that impressive for a 22 year old. It’s so different from his bedroom back at the frat house, so much more vulnerable.
Without saying anything, you sit delicately on the edge of his bed, glancing at a framed photo of him, Giselle, and his dad on his nightstand. Bradley watches you roll your palms against the fabric of your shorts as you look up at him hesitantly.
“So… what do you want to do?”
The lights from his backyard and the surrounding houses cast in through the window, illuminating you in a soft glow against his navy bed sheets. Bradley can only suck in a breath, the sight of you striking a chord in him that he wasn’t expecting. Maybe it’s just the fact that he wants to forget about everything going on tonight, but Bradley can only take a step forward, his eyes glued to your frame.
Your lips look soft, he can see the waxy residue of your vanilla chapstick on them, shining faintly. Just enough that it’s almost teasing Bradley, who’s been finding himself thinking about your lips a lot more than he should recently. You’re still looking up at him expectantly and Bradley swallows down his nerves before you can manage to see right through his defenses again.
“Do you want to watch something?”
You snort lightly. “Weren’t we just doing that?”
“Yeah, but,” Bradley tries to relax himself with a breathy laugh. “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off?” He makes a face.
“What’s wrong with Ferris Bueller’s Day Off?” You cock your head teasingly.
And, really, Bradley doesn’t find anything wrong with Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. It’s the people in his backyard, and the fact that they’re watching a movie and there’s no old popcorn machine or classic, pinstripe cartons. It’s the fact that, any day now, Admiral Simpson is going to return and Bradley’s going to feel unwanted in his own house. Except it isn’t his house. This whole summer Bradley has just been reminded over and over that none of this is his.
Your features soften slightly—which is exactly what Bradley didn’t want to happen—when he doesn’t answer. “Bradley?”
And Bradley doesn’t want to think, or feel all of this, or explain to you what’s going on in his head, so instead he surges forward, forcibly swallowing down your concern as if that will make it go away. He reclines you gently onto his mattress, his eyes shut tight as he tries to overwhelm himself with you. He doesn’t want to think about his dad, or Admiral Simpson, or that stupid popcorn machine, so he kisses you in hopes he’ll forget his own name.
“Bradley.” It comes out a gasp, your back arching slightly as he moves his lips to your neck, inhaling the faint scent of butter, salt, and bug spray lingering on your skin. “Bradley—”
He noses at your jaw, tilting your head up and making room for himself along the expanse of your throat. Bradley nips at your skin gently, rolling it between his teeth before blowing on it gently. His hands paw at your shirt, running up and down your sides until he catches the waistband of your shorts.
And it’s all too easy to lose focus when he’s basically depriving himself of oxygen, getting lost in your subtle warmth. Bradley squeezes his eyes closed tighter, letting his hand fall to the meat of your thigh, feeling it between his fingers as he hikes your leg over his hip. He lets his hand run along the bare skin a couple times, tracing over your goosebumps as his lips make their rushed path back to your own.
With a force that teeters on desperation, Bradley kisses you, silently begging to feel your fingers tighten in his hair, your gasps against his skin. Instead, he feels the palm of your hand cupping his cheek as you pull him away from you gently.
“Bradley, wait,” you’re panting, looking up at him with wide eyes as your hand stays planted against his face.
“Sorry—” Bradley swallows thickly, everything coming to him all at once as he hovers over you. He takes in the ragged rise and fall of your chest, the slight deshevel of your clothes, the bite marks littering your neck. “I’m sorry, I didn’t—” He can’t even look at you, his eyes locking with the dip of your shoulder as he moves to get off of you.
You don’t say anything as you sit up slowly, looking at him like he’s some sort of feral animal. Even from his peripheral, Bradley can feel it.
“Are you okay?”
There was that stupid question again. The exact question Bradley had been hoping to forget in the first place. Because he is okay. He always has been. And he doesn’t understand why you almost seem to insist that he isn’t.
You wet your lips. “You don’t… If you don’t want to tell me, that’s fine.”
And Bradley knows a loaded sentence when he hears one, but the last thing he wants to do is snap at you. So he doesn’t say anything, looking down at his fingers as he tries to figure out when he started caring so much about old movies and good popcorn. And instead of getting mad at him like he thinks you will, you sit up some more, getting comfortable against his headboard.
“What’s your favorite movie?”
Bradley turns to look at you slowly. “What?”
“It just got me thinking,” you gesture towards his window that faces the backyard. “And I realized that I don’t know what your favorite movie is.”
Bradley thinks for a moment. “Back to the Future,” he says finally.
To Bradley’s surprise, you smile, biting down on your lip as if attempting to hide it.
“That’s the first movie your dad made us watch when we had those neighborhood movie nights.”
And Bradley doesn’t really know if he should be more surprised that you recalled that so quickly or that you remember those old, neighborhood movie nights at all. It’s not really weird that you remember, it was your childhood too, but it had never really occurred to Bradley that those movie nights would have mattered to anyone but himself.
“You know what I really miss?” You continue, seemingly not offended at how little Bradley is involving himself in your conversation. “Your dad’s popcorn.”
Bradley stills, his fingers no longer fidgeting, and he sucks in a breath, your words hitting him hard. “Really?”
“Don’t tell your mom, but whatever popcorn she’s buying at the store isn’t good,” you laugh lightly.
At the sound, Bradley relaxes, shifting slightly to better face you. “I know,” he lets out a soft chuckle. “Though, in fairness to her, I don’t think there’s any brand of popcorn that would be as good as my dad’s.”
You sit up suddenly, a buzz about you as you look at Bradley with a wide smile. “Do you have the Bronco keys?”
Bradley looks at you weirdly because of course he has them. It’s his car. “Yeah?”
“Good,” you hop up from his bed, grabbing his hand without thought as you stand excitedly in his room. “Come on, I want to show you something.”
That’s all the context you give Bradley as you drag him to his car. He doesn’t even know where he’s going, just following your directions like some easily excitable GPS. You’re giving nothing away though, even as Bradley argues that the place might not even be open, merely grinning in his face and then telling him to “take a left at that light”.
Bradley is thoroughly confused when you have him pull into the parking lot of one of the city's AMC theaters. It was the one you all used to go to as kids, a staple of the summer when all the big blockbuster came out. Back then, their reclining seats and surround sound system were the coolest things any of you could imagine and you all came up with things like dumping your Nerds into your popcorn so you could get in as much junk food as possible. It was the movie theater Bradley had his first date in, the first time he snuck into an R rated movie.
It’s still just the same as when you were kids, the large twinkling lights illuminating the whole parking lot as cars pull in and out. As soon as Bradley parks, you give him a look before hopping out of the car.
“Wait here.”
And so Bradley does.
For 20 minutes, Bradley switches between looking out the window for you, swiping through his phone, and wondering what the hell he’s doing here. Instagram reels only give him so much distraction, and then he switched to looking at all the large posters of upcoming movies to see if any looked interesting. They were mainly sequels, which he suspected, but there were a couple he noted to watch the trailers of later.
Finally you come out of the theater, sporting two large buckets of popcorn in your hands and a wide grin on your face. Bradley can only watch in confusion as you hop back into the car and hand one of the popcorn buckets to him.
“Enjoy,” you say dramatically before shoveling a handful of popcorn into your mouth.
Bradley looks down at the bucket of popcorn in his hands. The kernels are saturated with butter and it looks as though the golden yellow consistency seeps through each layer. He takes one between his fingers, placing it in his mouth hesitantly.
You’re looking at him expectantly as he bites down and his eyes widen slightly. The salty, buttery flavor explodes against his taste buds and the kernel doesn’t feel burnt or stale. Bradley didn’t think that he could care this much about popcorn, but everything about this night has proved that wrong and he looks up at you in thinly veiled shock.
“Good, right?” You smile, having some more of your own popcorn. “It’s the only popcorn I’ve found that’s as good as your dad’s.”
Bradley cocks his head in confusion, shoveling a handful of popcorn in his mouth with more confidence. “You got it from the movie theater?” He asks through a mouthful of kernels. “I didn’t know their popcorn could taste like that.”
You shrug. “I know a guy.”
“You know a guy?” Bradley scoffs teasingly at your answer, shifting in his seat to face you better.
“I do!” You stick your tongue out at him. “You’re not the only guy who knows people here, Mr. Quarterback.”
Bradley’s eyes crinkle as he laughs. “Yeah, alright, who’s your popcorn dealer then, sunshine?”
“Peter Binkley.”
Bradley nearly chokes on his popcorn. “Peter Binkley? No way you still talk to Peter Binkley.”
“He was my partner in chem and then he started working at the movie theater. He’d bring popcorn to our study sessions and we figured out the perfect butter to popcorn ratio,” you explain proudly. “We don’t talk a lot, but I still get free popcorn here.”
Bradley prods his cheek with his tongue thoughtfully. “He totally has a crush on you.”
“What? No, he doesn’t!” Your jaw drops, your voice raising a couple octaves.
Bradley grins. “Yes, he does. And as your boyfriend, I think I’m gonna need to shut that down immediately.”
“And how are you gonna do that?” You give him an unimpressed look.
Bradley’s eyes flit to the wall of movie posters before coming back to you. “Take you on a date to the movies, obviously.”
You seem caught off guard by that response, your fingers slipping slightly on your bucket of popcorn. Ducking your head down to avoid his gaze for a moment, you clear your throat. “How are we gonna get good popcorn if you're trying to beat Peter Binkley up in the back alley?”
Bradley pretends to think, tracing his tongue along his teeth. “You’re right,” he nods knowingly. “I guess I can put my masculine pride aside for the sake of good popcorn.”
You roll your eyes endearingly. “How courageous.”
Bradley laughs, his character breaking as he relaxes against the seat of his Bronco. You follow suit, still eating kernel after kernel of popcorn as the two of you sit in his parked car outside of an AMC theater. That itching feeling that had been consuming Bradley, that caused his thoughts to race and his heart to pound, fades away with every bite of buttery popcorn all while you’re sitting next to him with a smile on your face, the lights of the movie theater shining against your skin. Something settles in his chest and he sucks in a breath.
“Should we—” Without thinking Bradley wipes his buttery fingers against his shorts. “Should we head back?”
He feels your eyes on him. “We could… Or we could try to see how much popcorn we can throw into each other’s mouths.”
Bradley grins.

Valentine's Day Q&A
I want to get to know you a little better, and there's no better day for dirty questions than Valentine's Day! Choose which part of the question you want to answer and, of course, only do it if you feel like it! It will be perfectly fine if you skip answering some questions. 😌
The most painful love crush/disappointment in real life? 😵
Do you remember the scene in Glass Cuts Deepests when Wright tells Aemond about her ex boyfriend putting a flower behind other girl's ear? Well, that happened to me, just we weren't together, but I was completely in love with him before I met my husband and this scene was DEVASTATING to watch!
What was your first real date like/what do you imagine your first real date would be like? 😇
I went on my first date ever with my husband (although we both said it was just a friendly meeting). We went to the cinema together to see the movie Green Book. I kept shushing him because he wanted to talk to me during the show, haha.
What would be the most awkward situation for you on a date/has happened to you while dating? 😐
It's not really strange, but I burst out laughing because one of my husband's first compliments to me was "I can't stop looking at your socks" with Michelangelo's naked David on them.
What was your first kiss like/what do you imagine your first kiss would be like? 😚
My husband was suffering from a huge hangover after his friends birthday party which he had attended the day before. He felt sick and I asked if he wanted to take a nap (we were in the room he was renting) and he asked what I would do then. I said that I could fall asleep at any time of the day or night (it's true) and we ended up lying next to each other.
Of course, he suddenly didn't feel like sleeping, and my first kiss (with my consent, because what could I do? He would never have dared to do it if he was sober) tasted of vodka (of course, he was taking a shower etc. before I came, it's just that after so much alcohol, you actually sweat vodka). 😂
Do you have any sexual quirks that others would find strange/is there anything you would never do when it comes to sex? 😬
Neither I nor my husband are into oral sex at all. We've tried and we both can't concentrate, we both only think about the fact that someone will accidentally make the other person uncomfortable. We had a conversation about it and agreed that it simply wasn't for us. 😂
We both also abhor bodily fluids and often laugh about it after everything "blehhh take it away from me" is the order of the day. We are having a good time tho, haha!! 😂
What's the kinkiest thing you've ever done/could do with your partner? 🥵
I would let him spank my ass until I cried. 😇
The most romantic thing ever? 💕
My hubby giving me food and brushing my hair while laying next to me when I'm sad. 😭

Everyone in the Red Bull area knew the reason why Sylvie was often found crying in Daniel Ricciardo’s drivers room during her breaks. Well, everyone but Sylvie. She lived to blame herself for the downfall of what she thought was a great relationship.
They were reaching the sixth month and if it hadn’t been for Abel’s cheating, then maybe— MAYBE Sylvie would continue to pursue what she had with him.
Everyone thought Abel was a fool. Sylvie hadn’t done anything but be a good person, a loyal girlfriend. Why did he let another woman warm the bed that they shared?
Because she spent more time with Max than she had with him. That’s what he said. When she found him in his flat and asked what the hell was going on, Abel yelled at her for not going home. He screamed that she was doing it first with her “fucking best friend.” He didn’t even know the rough past between the two; he only knew Max’s name and had seen their childhood photos. So much for someone who had been dating her for five months.
Instead of fighting back, she cried. Her feet stood there as her sobs became a plea to let her inside once he kicked her out. She looked so pathetic.
It didn’t stop her from working, though, and Christian Horner couldn’t be more wrong when he previously said that she wasn’t emotionally prepared for work.
Her work kept her mind occupied throughout the Hungary race. From sending emails back and forth with her model agency to attending sponsor dinners, her mind never stopped running until she was able to get some sleep.
Because truthfully, she really wasn’t able to sleep. She only relied on chamomile tea then pretended that she was refreshed from the night before.
Her family had tried to get some word out of her about the break up, but she refused to say anymore. Toto did say that Abel had a bad aura within him, yet Sylvie knew that her in-law wasn’t about to tell her that “I told you so.” Stevie definitely called Abel out on his bullshit one night when she came across him at a bar in LA. Tilly merely comforted her without a word. Other than that, Sylvie never said anything about it— her eyes were focused on the racing team and the drivers.
The night before the race, she found Max standing in front of her hotel room. Her bloodshot eyes were evidence of her sadness and exhaustion, but it wasn’t as if she could easily close the door on him to hide it away. He was persistent and would most likely bring Lando here if it means that he would be able to get in.
The Dutchman stood there with a tray of macarons and another tray with cups of tea. “Chamomile,” it said on both tea bags. His accent was laced with concern as he spoke, “I know you haven’t had the greatest weekend yet. I had to beg my PR manager to find me a pastry shop for these.”
And so they sat on the love seat quietly, Easy A playing on the television while they both munched on the last two strawberry macaroons and sipped on their tea.
“He blamed me, you know?” Sylvie chuckled bitterly, her eyes still trained on Emma Stone’s makeover scene as the character continued ripping fabrics off in rage. I should do that, she told herself. She could see in her peripheral vision that Max looked at her, leaving her to say, “Said I spent too much time with you. That I slept with you first.”
“Blue—“ Max tried to speak, but she continued regardless.
“Which is kind of rich of him,” Sylvie shook her head, reaching out on the tray to eat the matcha flavoured macaron next. She bit on it and said, “Considering that I never had slept with anyone I spend my time with. Let alone sleep with anyone.”
“I don’t recall sleeping with anyone, too,” Max made things lighter as he joked, “I would have remembered otherwise.”
“Man,” Sylvie sighed and slumped against the loveseat, “had I known that men would be like that, then I would’ve ditched him immediately.”
Sylvie knew that whatever she did with Max the moment he came inside the hotel room made her realize her worth. What was it about her childhood friend that made her think the other way?
Everyone did say they were connected one way or another. She didn’t know how and he didn’t know either; but everyone insisted they were soulmates. One soul in two different bodies. She knew him as much as he knew her. She always had similar thoughts and feelings shared with him, and not once did he ever go against that idea. He pushed her, in fact.
“Not men,” Max laughed quietly, “boys. Men learn. Boys are still in the process of doing so.”
“Didn’t you just hit puberty two months ago?” She joked.
“Didn’t you?” He bit back with a smile.
She laughed along, shaking her head once more. They fell silent as Sylvie stared at his eyes. She couldn’t remember the last time she had seen it up close. But god, they sure looked prettier than they did before Abel had broken up with her.
“Would it be,” she stammered, leaving the man next to him scowling as he goaded her into speaking. She cleared her throat and sighed. “Would it be okay to ask… if I can… ah, shit. Never mind. It sounds bollocks if I continue on.”
“We don’t hide things anymore, Mustang,” he teased her, “remember? We agreed on it.”
“So if I were to ask if you want to… do… it…”
Now he was rendered silent. She wanted the world to swallow her the moment she found him staring at her. He was frozen, and she felt her body burning in embarrassment as she wished to leave the place. This was her bloody room, she couldn’t get out of here.
“I- I-“ he stuttered, his cheeks heating up as he asked, “You want to do it?”
“I’ve always wondered what it's like,” she murmured quietly. “I tried imagining doing it with him but… he never seemed to have that kind of intention to… I don’t know… pay attention to my wants.”
“Pretty foolish of that dickhead,” Max scoffed. “If he only wants to use you, then it’s a great thing that you knew better than that.”
“But seriously—“ he continued, “Sylvie, look at me in the eyes and tell me you want me to do it with you.”
“I do,” she admitted meekly, staring at him while she said so before she turned away. “I don’t think I can do it with someone else. If they’re the same as him then I don’t know… and you’re not him or anyone. So…”
“Okay,” he nodded understandingly. He backed away for a second before catching his breath and murmured, “Okay… I’ll make sure you and I aren’t hurt. And- and, I’ll make sure you have the best time.”
And the best time, it was. It was the first time Sylvie slept in a few days. It was also the first time she shared an intimate moment with someone. Someone being Max Emilian Verstappen.
Anyone experienced with two eyes would point out that everything that happened was done rather clumsily. It probably didn’t help that Max had to trip and knock on Dan’s door to ask for a condom, but it was better to be embarrassed than sorry, he supposed.
Sylvie could remember herself wiping the smudged mascara off her face and removing her top to put on the black corset top that she had on her suitcase, keeping her black wide legged sweatpants on while he went out to “say hi to Dan for a minute.” She didn’t need to put on a makeup. It wasn’t really that special, was it? No. It certainly was, she just didn’t want to spook Max especially when his eyes widened just as he walked in on her putting on a lip balm with nothing but her bra and sweatpants on.
He couldn’t deny anything that night, especially to himself. The moment his tongue swiped over her lips, he nearly groaned in satisfaction at the minty flavour of her chapstick. A hint of strawberry came with it, finding himself caging her against the marble sink as she desperately held him… by the arms and his mouth.
Both of them were clueless, not knowing how to maneuver around one another the moment Max settled her down to her (upgraded) king-sized bed. For a moment, he wondered how she had managed to get herself a large room — knowing that the hotel room booked for him and Danny were smaller than hers — but her wandering hands sent his thoughts away when her palm landed on his sweatpants, eliciting a sigh from him.
Too many questions of, “Is this okay” and “are you alright” were exchanged— both of them unsure if either of them were comfortable or smart enough to be doing this. But one thing that they knew for sure was they wouldn’t be able to forget that night. It wasn’t the just pleasure that made it too memorable— but rather their experience with one another that made it too… good to forget. Sylvie and Max could care less about reaching the highs and lows when all they could think about was that they’ve done it with one another.
She could remember waking up to him kissing her forehead as he spoke in Dutch, telling her that they would talk sometime during the day before he left the room. She pretended to be asleep, but the whisper of his voice made her heart beat faster as if he hadn’t just called her love.
For someone who “hated” Max, Sylvie trusted him for taking a part of her and allowed him to ruin other men for her. She was sure that Max was her standard now. She couldn’t imagine doing the most intimate things with someone who didn’t have the same values and personality as him.
God, Max ruined her. But it wasn’t as if Sylvie was complaining about it. She embraced that idea, in fact.

Went to watch the Baragaki Arc - Movie version yesterday~ also new info(?) For the Ginpachi-sensei anime👀✨
I got Toshi 🏀uniform keychain as a freebie~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bought the pamphlet and other goods at the theatre shop XD
Tumblr media
The movie felt nostalgic 🥹 but ngl I feel scammed... XD (well actually Kondo-san/Zaki shamelessly admitted that BNP are just scamming us 🤣🤣 that's sasuga Gintama for you!)
Anyway (maybe spoiler but not really) below...
'Bonus scenes' was just the still shot of Shinsengumi HQ gate with the Shinsengumi talking in the BG🤣 this was at the beginning and the end
At the start of the movie, Hijikata had a summary introduction of Shinsengumi charas, Isaburo, and Gin-chan
During Sabu-chan's intro, they already showed FS scenes in the prison island, like Kondo-san donning the Naraku outfit as well as Toshi vs Isaburo in the forest...
And then they played Wonderland!! I almost cried!!! I love that OP sm...??? It was so nostalgic 😭😭 and Nakama at the end of the movie 🥹🥹
And Baby Toshi! Ponytail Ginchan! Sabuchan!Nobutasu~ (Takasugi👀✨)
The '3z new content' after the movie is the same content included in the last page of the pamphlet (pic below)
When they showed this frame at the cinema, Toshi said 'thats it????' 😭
Tumblr media
Also, based on the non-Baragaki scenes that they included, are they planning to do a movie version of FS?👀✨
They showed some FS scenes (Toshi then said 'but that's another story')... including Utsuro at the end of the movie...
why do that if you don't plan on making a movie abt that 'other story' hmm?
Will we be able to see a re-animated version of FS!!! OMG!!!!???
But hey let's not forget about Ikkoku Keisei, Shinigami, *most importantly* SA?? Aren't those part of the overarching plot as well...
I'm so excited!!! What else is in store for us Gintama fans!! XD

・❥・here ya go!
・❥・diluc x gn!reader, can be read as platonic up until the end
・❥・0.6k
・❥・ scary movie, diluc and reader are childhood best friends, food (popcorn), very tiny mention of bullying, crying, reader hides their emotions, depictions of anxiety (vis a vis the movie lmao), teeny kiss at the very end
Tumblr media
diluc x 💛
Tumblr media
the movie wasn’t supposed to be this scary, but here the protagonist was, being chased around her house by some sort of demon. you wouldn’t have expected this sort of thing to scare you normally, but the prosthetic makeup was so realistic. the dark environment of the movie theatre proved to enhance the atmosphere of this film a lot too, which wasn’t helping. you swore you could feel your heart pounding in your chest, a grim feeling which you wouldn’t want to expose to anyone sitting near you, especially not him.
when diluc invited you to go see the movie with him, how could you refuse? it had been weeks since either of you had had time to hang out with each other, and how can two people be best friends if they never see one another? what with your work taking up your life, and with dilucs bar taking over his, you just hadn’t had time to spend.
he had been your best friend since childhood, always picking you up when you fell down, wiping your tears when you cried over boys, or bullies, or teachers. he was always there, he was stability itself. but it had been years, since you had been vulnerable around him. you always told yourself it was part of maturing, not to be so prone to emotional outbursts. to be more like him. and whilst he questioned it at first, he eventually accepted it.
but little did you know, he could see your hand shaking as you reached over to his lap for popcorn, grabbing a little handful as you tried to keep your grip. slowly munching it and trying to mask your fear.
he looked at you, questioning what he saw. as he turned his head to you, you looked to him too, figuring he probably had something important to say if he was willing to talk during such a tense, loaded scene.
“are you okay?” shit, could he really sense it? could he tell all that easily how creeped out you were?
“y-yeah, yeah, i’m fine!” you nervously giggled at him, whispering, until a jump scare appeared on the screen, which sent the popcorn which was previously in one of your hands flying. thankfully the cinema was relatively empty, so you didn’t have to worry about hitting someone in the eye with a kernel.
“you're scared, aren't you?” his voice was suddenly soft, calming. it brought you back to all those years ago, when you cried against him when you were kids, thinking there was a monster under your bed, and he said that same thing.
“fine, maybe a little bit. but wouldn’t you be? i mean, look at that thing!” you whisper shouted at him, referencing the creepy creature on the screen.
“huh? ah, no, i’m not scared, but if you are…” he reached his hand out to you, spreading his fingers as an invitation for you to intertwine yours “you can hold my hand”
the last time you held dilucs hand was six years ago, when the two of you climbed starsnatch cliff together, but you got scared of the height. instead of diluc laughing at you, he just held onto your hand, just as he was offering to now.
he waited for you to place your hand in his, before tightening his fingers around it, bringing both of your hands to rest on his lap. and although you didn't want to admit it, you could feel yourself becoming a little more at ease, just because he was there.
but this wasn’t a date, was it?
was it?
perhaps him kissing the back of your palm would indicate that it was...

Rewatching ML Season 4
Truth: Luka is fed up with Marinette lying to him. Ladybug is put under a truth spell and says that she appreciates Chat Noir’s courage, confidence and jokes. Chat Noir says he’s only that happy with her.
Lies: Marinette watches TV program about Adrien and says his life is awesome, even though sometimes he looks bored or sad. Adrigami scenes. Kagami wants to draw Adrien and says that neither his model poses nor Chat Noir pose is really him. She wants him to be more natural and vulnerable. A few times they almost kiss, but Adrien has to go to help Ladybug. Kagami is fed up with Adrien’s lies. More: Luka vs Adrien and Kagami vs Ladybug. Chat Noir sacrifices himself again.
Gang of Secrets: Ladybug and Chat Noir go to the cinema. Ladybug is frustrated with her love life and doesn’t want to talk about it neither with Chat Noir nor her friends. Marinette is fed up with lying and finally tells Alya that she’s Ladybug.
Mr Pigeon 72: Adrien brought Plagg a big bag full of cheese. He’s “lucky” his father is neglectful, otherwise he would take him to psychologist. Marinette, why are you so stupid (again). Adrien is turned into a pigeon. Adrien is so focused on Marinette that he hits his head when getting in the car.
Furious Fu: —
Sole Crusher: Hi, Zoé. Marinette is short with Chat Noir like Ladybug.
Queen Banana: Chloé wants to be a film star. Adrien wants her to apologise, but she refuses.
Guiltrip: Adrienette moment, Adrien makes googly eyes at Marinette. There’s a pink background, but it’s hard to say if it’s just Marinette who sees her friend this way—it looks like Adrien does too! He comforts Juleka. Chat Noir tries to kill himself. Adrien mocks Chloé.
Optigami: Marinette and Adrien are stuck together in the lift during Akuma attack and they almost reveal themselves.
Sentibubbler: —
Rocketear: Nino thinks Alya’s in love with Chat Noir. Nino tells Adrien that he and Alya are superheroes. Adrien is taken aback that Ladybug let them know their true identities and is worried that Ladybug doesn’t trust him. Nino says Ladybug thinks Chat Noir is disgusting. Adrien is sad during transformation.
Wishmaker: Adrien doesn’t know what he wants to do in the future and says he’s a model now just because his father asked told him to. Marinette and Luka notice Adrien is sad. Adrien again makes googly eyes at Marinette. Luka learns Ladybug and Chat Noir’s true identities. Adrien says that as a child he wanted only to fulfill his parents’ wishes.
Mega Leech: Adrien is shocked to see that his father lied to him about the advertisment. Gabriel treats Adrien’s image as his possession. Adrien is sad and angry. He takes Marinette’s hand during the protest. Chat Noir is possessed by the villain. Adrien notices Marinette is fascinated with the advertisment and isn’t sure what to make of it. Gabriel is angry at Adrien for joining the protest and sends him to his room, touching the wedding ring.
Simpleman: Adrien calls Marinette and asks her to fix a wing that he needs for a photo session. When I watched this for the first time, I thought he genuinely needed her help, but now I think he uses this as an excuse to see her (this isn’t his job to find somebody to fix the wing). Ladybug and Chat Noir almost give the villain their Miraculouses in exchange for sweets.
Dearest Family: Where did Gabriel get the amulet from? I guess my Disney+ has the wrong order of the episodes again. Tikki has an eating disorder. We can see a glimpse of her true form. Gabriel’s talking about destroying the old world and creating a new one, but I don’t think he’s the best source of information about how the wish works.
Crocoduel: Congratulations, Gabriel, Jagged Stone who abandoned his children for years is a better father than you. Chat Noir flirts with every new girl in the team.
Glaciator 2: Ladybug is angry at Chat Noir for his constant declarations of love and throws him in the garbage. Adrien decides to change. He’s sad and cries in the park. Marinette unsuccessfully tries to cheer him up. Gabriel almost sends an Akuma to Adrien, but when he notices it’s his son he stops the Akuma. Gabriel tries to talk to Adrien, but their conversation isn’t going anywhere. Chat Noir is destroying the billboards. How much cheese has he had to take with him? He doesn’t have any bag with him, does he have to go to a shop on every street? I love these Marichat scenes. I want to see Adrien being as sarcastic as Chat Noir here.
Hack-San: Marinette is in a hurry, but she should think about telling Chat Noir she’s leaving Paris. Chat Noir again feels that Ladybug doesn’t trust him. Sincere Ladynoir conversation.
Gabriel Agreste: Adrien brings ill Nathalie a meal and tries to talk to her about his problems. Adrien is compared to an imprisoned princess and Marinette—to a knight. Does Félix suspect that the wedding ring is Adrien’s Amok and try to protect him? Kagami and Félix don’t seem to like each other. Or this is how Félix reacts when he likes somebody. I thought Gabriel tried to kill Félix, but the Akuma goes to the fake wedding ring. OK, so this episode should be before Dearest Family. Félix is now sure that Gabriel created Senti-Gabriel and that he has the Peacock Miraculous.
Ephemeral: Gabriel’s touching his wedding ring when he’s telling Adrien to replace him at the conference. Su-Han tells Ladybug that she should know Chat Noir’s true identity. Marinette cannot believe that Chat Noir is really Adrien. It’s too early for the true reveal: Marinette needs to appreciate Chat Noir too. Marichat needs to happen. Again, neither the reveal nor Adrienette aren’t really problems, it’s the relationship between Adrien and Gabriel: Adrien loves him, but Gabriel is ready to hurt him to achieve his goal. Gabriel’s touching his wedding ring when he’s forcing Adrien to be Akumatised. More: The Reveal & Adrinette. OK, so the Kwamis confirm that the wish destroys the world and recreates it.
Psycomedian: The girls say there’s no love without friendship. Adrien again makes googly eyes at Marinette. Marinette, don’t listen to this clown. This time it’s Ladybug who falls victim to the villain and Chat Noir has to help her.
Qilin: —
Kuro Neko: Adrien feels left out by Ladybug. He gives up his ring and then changes his whole personality to be the Cat she wants him to be. But it’s not the Cat she needs. Plagg says Adrien can be serious around his father and Nathalie, so it’s sad that Ladybug wants him to be like that too. Ladybug says she knows Chat Noir very well while mistaking him for the Sentimonster. Plagg says Adrien is both Adrien and Chat Noir.
Penalteam: Adrien can’t play football.
Risk: Adrien says he doesn’t want to be a model and tells Lila he doesn’t want to listen to her lies. Gabriel wants to send Adrien away. Adrienette moment. Adrien says that it’s like an invisible force stopped him from telling his father he didn’t want to be a model. Félix says he wants to save Adrien.
Strike Back: Ladybug mistakes Félix for Adrien. If she knew Chat Noir’s true identity, she wouldn’t make that mistake. Or if Chat Noir intervened. Félix quietly says that he’s sorry and he betrays the heroes, but in the context of season 5 I can see he isn’t totally evil and selfish. Chat Noir stands by Ladybug and comforts her.

I just saw “Elvis” (2022, dir. Baz Luhrmann) and I’m not joking when I say that people in our cinema were crying and clapping - this NEVER happens in the UK. We don’t do that here. Sometimes if a film is amazing, people will clap when the credits roll but people were literally applauding, and full on crying and cheering, during the final scene. The only other time I’ve witnessed an audience reaction DURING the film like this is during NWH on opening night (today is also the opening day of Elvis)
My mum has been a lifelong Elvis Presley fan - she’s the same age as Elvis’ daughter Lisa Marie, and she was seven when he died. My mum is the biggest Elvis fan I know: she cried when he died and used to kiss her Elvis posters goodnight; once she gave me a locket once that she’d had when she was younger, and when I opened it she’d put a tiny cut out picture of Elvis’ face inside of it - and she’s going to Graceland this year, which has been a lifelong dream of hers. So yeah, to say my mum is an Elvis fan is a BIT of an understatement. Obviously, by the time I was born, Elvis had been dead for two decades - but I definitely grew up with his music because my mum had all her Elvis CDs, DVDs of his concerts, and so my sister and I obviously grew up hearing a lot of Elvis.
I was nervous about seeing it with my mum, because the last Baz Luhrmann film she saw was Great Gatsby and she despised it - she really doesn’t like his films (for the record, my sister and I both LOVE his films). However, she was full on crying at the end and she’s praising the FUCK out of the film as well as Austin Butler’s performance, which screams volumes to me about how amazing this film is. Obviously Tom Hanks is great as always but Austin Butler is undoubtedly the closest to Elvis there ever has been and ever will be, and I’m telling you that if he doesn’t even get nominated for an Oscar at LEAST, it will be a fucking fix.
Tumblr media
Even if you’re not an Elvis fan, I’m telling you all that you need to see this film. Like if you’re not an Elvis fan already, you will be by the end of the film.
We’ve actually got tickets for tomorrow night as well (we booked those last week but then my mum and sister had the whim to see it tonight and so we decided to do it on about 5 hours notice), but for now I’m going to go and listen to some more Elvis ✌️

Ed Harris has publicly refused to speak about his experiences working on "The Abyss" (1989), saying, "I'm not talking about 'The Abyss' and I never will." One of the few things he said about it was "Asking me how I was treated on 'The Abyss' is like asking a soldier how he was treated in Vietnam." Similarly, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio said, "'The Abyss' was a lot of things. Fun to make was not one of them."
Cast members had to become certified divers before filming began. The Deepcore crew started training together in the Caribbean one month before filming, in order to create a sense of camaraderie. Harris was not among them, as he was still filming another movie, so he got his certificate while training in a lake nearby. The actors playing the SEALs received a separate, military training. At the end of the shoot, Harris was the most accomplished diver (near-professional level) despite not having trained a single day in the actual ocean.
During underwater filming, Harris almost drowned a few times. One time was while filming the scene where he had to swim without a suit at the bottom of the submerged set, and the safety diver took very long to hand him a breathing regulator. However, the closest call came during the descent into the Abyss. Harris was wearing a helmet filled with liquid, and had to hold his breath while he was towed along a set. When he ran out of air, he gave the signal for oxygen, but his safety diver got hung up on a cable and could not get to him. Another crew member gave Harris a regulator, but it was upside down and caused him to suck in water. Underwater cinematographer Al Giddings saw what happened, ripped the upside down regulator, and gave him his own in the correct orientation. Later that evening, Ed broke down and cried.
The studio was considering Mel Gibson, Dennis Quaid, William Hurt, Harrison Ford, Kurt Russell and Patrick Swayze for the role of Virgil 'Bud' Brigman. Cameron suggested Ed Harris, but the studio was concerned about his lack of experience as leading man, as well as his receding hairline (something that Cameron felt added to his everyman appeal). Harris convinced the studio with a screen test where he wore a motorcycle helmet as a diving helmet. (IMDb)
Happy Birthday, Ed Harris!

qi ye reminds me of how i saw korean cinema described once (i think it was specifically bong joonho's the host)
where there's a funny scene amidst a tragic atmosphere and it feels so wrong to laugh, but it's there and u cant ignore that its funny. and it makes u feel on edge because what are you doing laughing.
i think the scene in question was during the daughter's funeral, where the family members start having sort of like a contest of who cries and suffers harder
u cant achieve the same with literature, unless the author really goes for it, but it wont be as subtle as having the audience realize it from what they see. when i was reading qi ye, i was eager to see how the plot developed so i just threw whatever i found funny to the back of my head. but afterwards, when all is said and done, i still try to recreate those scenes in my head the same way that funeral scene in the host was constructed lol

Random Movie Headcanons for the Phantom Troupe
Chrollo
I feel like he would like either critically acclaimed movies or extremely obscure films that are banned in like 20+ countries.
He would be a live movie critic but mostly silent during the film itself
He probably won’t choose the movie himself and let everyone else choose it if he’s watching with a group
The type to listen to movie osts
Nobunaga
Samurai movies
He makes a lot of commentary while watching films (to which some troupe members punch him for)
Probably has a guilty pleasure of watching romcoms
Cries when things get sad
Feitan
Horror movies or those obscure films that are banned for gore
Not scared of anything ~will force people to watch scary movies with him~
Silent during the film
He can’t stand musicals
Machi
Probably likes some form of action films or short films with hidden messages
Doesn't talk during the movies but will be doing something else while she watches
She barely gets emotional during sad scenes but it happened once and she will never admit it
Doesn't really like sci-fi films that much
Hisoka
I feel like he would want to watch movies in a cinema more than at home but idk
Probably likes slasher films or the horror genre in general
Mostly silent during films but if he’s with someone he likes he might play with their hair or try to scare them during a jump scare or so
I don’t think he has a genre he necessarily hates but can’t watch documentaries with interest
Phinks
Action films or sports films
Doesn’t talk during the film and will tell people to shut up
Secretly likes those happy-ending movies like Benji or so
Brings snacks to movie nights with the troupe all the time
Shalnark
He seems like someone who would watch animated films and horror films
Talks incessantly
He probably keeps movies on in the background while doing other kinds of work
I don’t see him liking historical films as much
Franklin
Though he’s fine with horror movies, I feel like he actually really likes wholesome films or mystery films
He’s like Chrollo in being a movie critic, noting things about the cinematography or music choices
Is silent during films and will tell people to be quiet by gently putting his hand on their head
Doesn’t really like comedy films
Shizuku
I feel like she and Shalnark have similar tastes in movies or will watch anything that’s even remotely interesting to her at the moment
She doesn’t talk in movies either but might be on her phone or doing something else while the movie plays
Falls asleep if the movie is boring and other troupe members when they notice this will lower the volume of the movie a bit and cover her in a blanket or so if they have one
Shizuku probably got lost once in a cinema and went into the wrong movie for free
Pakunoda
Film noirs or mystery films, or maybe those feel-good animal movies
She’s the type to get really deep into the movie but refuses to cry when she gets sad
Pakunoda if she’s with an s/o probably puts her arm around them or lays her head on their shoulder if they’re watching a film together in private
Likes rewatching movies a lot
Bonolenov
I feel like he would like musical films or music-related movies
He’s seen a film about his tribe before and kept pointing out the wrong things about the movie but other than that is mainly silent during films.
He won’t stop people from talking during the films though and sometimes likes hearing the commentary
He might enjoy silent films for their choice in relying on music in the background.
Uvogin
Likes action films or those films that have a lot of explosions in the background
Talks with Nobunaga a lot during movies
He also gets emotional during movies when things get sad but will punch someone if they point it out
He also brings snacks to movies if the troupe all decides to watch something together
Kortopi
He’s a kid so he’ll probably like childrens’ movies but for some reason is completely fine watching horror movies like The Ring or so.
Doesn’t make a single noise during movies (some people forget he’s even there)
He’s probably sold copies of movies one day just as a scam
Is the one the troupe allows to choose the movie during a movie night first

Flufftober 12 - Javi G
Javi x Reader
Tumblr media
It was no secret that Javi Gutierrez loved cinema.
Every kind of cinema. He inquired about absolutely all the films coming out in the world, and went to find the oldest ones, even those that hadn't had much success.
He could not, however, say that he knew horror movies well. Not because he didn't like them, there were classics with great actors, but those weren't really the style of films he enjoyed.
Well, if he was a little honest, Javi could admit that he didn't really like them. But not because he was scared, no.
On the opposite.
He wasn't afraid at all.
With the life he'd had, between his father's 'work' and his cousin's threats, he was used to scary things, real scary things. He had seen it all, the worst of the worst.
So monsters, ghosts, serial killers, that didn't bother him at all.
No reaction. Not even a small start. He knew that was fake. He looked for the direction and the acting, he sometimes laughed when it was not done well, he could appreciate certain stories, but he was not afraid.
And he didn't know if Y/N would understand that, or if she would think he was a dangerous soulless sociopath.
However, it was not easy to find a good excuse to refuse to watch horror movies with her on Halloween night. It was a normal custom for this holiday. A perfect moment with his lover, pressed against each other on the sofa, eating popcorn.
No doubt that if he explained to her, everything would be perfectly fine. Y/N was smart, it was one of the many reasons he loved her, and of course she would understand.
It was also possible that she found him very manly, a man who was not afraid of a ridiculous little film. She would cuddle up to him, knowing he would protect her no matter what.
But unlike her, Javi was not always very smart, and he was not brave when it came to talking about such things, so he dared not say anything, just as he dared not refuse this horror movie night.
So he had an idea.
Practicing all day remembering the few acting lessons Nick Cage had been kind enough to give him after he had begged him for hours, he practiced looking scared.
Not too scared, he had to be believable, and he didn't want Y/N to think that he was a coward, but enough to look more or less normal.
When the time came, he felt perfectly close, having worked well on his bursts of fear and his cries of surprise.
"Ready ?" Y/N asked with a big smile.
           "More than ever."
He was quite proud of himself during the first movie, not overdoing it, and only showing reactions when there was something that sensitive people might consider scary.
But as they were watching a second movie, Javi began to notice something.
Y/N wasn't jumping at all. She wasn't screaming, hiding her face in his neck, hugging him.
She wasn't scared at all.
Worse, she laughed, at times when he wanted to laugh. And above all, she laughed at him when he pretended to find a scene scary.
"Are you really afraid of this ?" she scoffed, touching his nose.
           "Of course not !"
Yes, you are afraid ! You're shaking and screaming like a little girl."
"This film is very badly directed, and the actors play awfully, that's the only scary thing."
           "Of course."
His pride being a little hurt, Javi suddenly wanted to tell her everything. To prove to her that he wasn't afraid of a movie at all, and that she had no reason to tease him like that.
But before he could speak, Y/N hugged him, kissing him on the cheek before laying her head on his shoulder.
"Don't worry, babe. I'm here. I won't let the evil demon hurt you."
           "... Really ? What if I'm a little scared tonight ?"
"I'll be in bed, on top of you, ready to push him away."
"Oh. I'm a little less scared now, thank you mi amor. But I'll probably need you to cuddle me for several days, these movies are going to give me terrible nightmares."
"I'll give you all the kisses and hugs you want."
Alright. It didn't matter if Y/N thought he wasn't very brave and was easily scared of a few bad special effects.
If she thought it was cute and he got her full attention, Javi wasn't going to say no.
But it was no secret that Javi loved Y/N, and spending time with her.

What are Amaelia’s favorite movies tho?
Ok I hope I’m not forgetting anything!! I’m pretty sure I’m gonna think of more movies but these are the ones that came to mind:
Ok I just gotta add that, as we’ve established Modern!Aemond as a cinephile™️ he was probably like: “MY daughter will be introduced to CINEMA from a young age! She’s gonna have TASTE.”
And then fast forward to when Amaelia is already 2 years old and he knows the dialogue of ‘The Swan Princess’ by heart because it’s all she watches during a period of her life lmao. By now his movie shelf filled with AUTEURS™️ is starting to get filled up with princess movies. He’s not even mad though.
Peter Pan is a favorite (the animated one and the live action one from 2003). She loves to see the pirates and mermaids and the dog! And she loves Wendy because of her love for telling adventure stories. But she’s a massive fan of pirates in general.
On that note about liking pirates, she loves Treasure Planet. It’s pirates in space™️ but also loves the Muppet Treasure Island with Tim Curry.
Uncle Daeron introduces her to the live action ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movies
A Bug’s Life, because it’s ‘Auntie Helaena’s movie’
For some reason, ‘Oliver and Company’ and the love action ‘The Cat In The Hat’ are Uncle Aegon’s’ movies ashshdjdksk
QUEST FOR CAMELOT! Need I explain this one? It has dragons and knights, it’s the perfect movie in her book. She loves anything with dragons and knights (dad’s influence).
Also because of knights and wizards, she loves disney’s The Sword In The Stone.
Going to self-indulge for a hot sec here and add The Black Cauldron because it’s a spooky one. Reader, seeing how much Amaelia enjoys knights and princesses, suggested this one. You were afraid she was gonna get scared but she ended up loving it.
Extra self-indulgence: reader also suggests to her ‘The Road to El Dorado’ because of all the adventure but also because of the big inspiration from Mayan cultures. Triple self-indulgence: reader and Amaelia sing the songs together every time they watch it.
Aemond really wanted Amaelia to enjoy these because they were his childhood faves, and he’s so thrilled when she does: 101 Dalmatians and Lady and The Tramp. Because, dogs! She lives in a household with two loving doggies, so of course these are amongst faves. She also loves the 101 & 102 Dalmatians movies with Glenn Close.
She has a love/hate relationship with The Land Before Time because she LOVES the dinosaurs in it but HATES the scene where Littlefoot loses his mom 😭 — she just cannot watch that. She’ll burst into tears every time and she has to be cuddled and kissed by her mom all day afterwards.
For this same reason, she can’t watch Finding Nemo, because she cries when Nemo gets separated from his dad.
I feel like she loves/is exposed to many old-school animated movies because her parents show her movies that they liked when they were kids and that want to share with her. And also, I’ve said before that Aemond loves analog media and he has a working VCR still. He must have gone to Alicent to scout for all the VHS tapes from his childhood to play Amaelia.

hi gina! i just watched mp and oh my god!!!!! i cried SO much. there was a specific point in the film that just made me bawl my eyes out because it hit so close to home. then from that point on, just constant tears. it was such a beautiful story. harry did so well, especially during the quieter scenes. towards the end, my friend and i were holding each other while sobbing. I WAS CRYING WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME TOO BECAUSE I WAS LISTENING TO REWRITE THE STARS 😭😭😭😭 it’s only in theaters for a week at my cinema, so i REALLY wanna go again. now, i need to to drink water because i have a headache from crying lol. i hugged rbb the entire time too. the story just flowed and fit together so well. it’s just so sad, what harry said about wasted time because that’s all i could think of while watching a lot of the movie. he’s so right, and it’s so sad that he’s right 😭 none of them deserved that, they were all victims of an unfortunate time. the end scene, i just cannot stop crying over it.

Aw, honey. I’m so glad it moved you so much. It sounds like it was super meaningful to a lot of people.
