Thank you so much @cactusblossom for tagging me!!! This was really fun to do. I tag anyone who sees this if they want to do it too!

What’s your favorite sims death? The ranting about death is hilarious, Grim basically says fuck around and find out for that one lmao. I haven't personally seen it in game but it would be wild. But I have to go with the classic delete the pool ladder from ts1 and locking sims in a room with fireworks :)

Alpha CC or Maxis Match? Maxis match! I like my game to be colorful and cartoony.

Do you cheat when your sims gain weight? Nope! I like body diversity and it's a part of their life. The only times I would cheat their weight is if it was glitched (like Madeline and Tabby at one point with the gain weight from pregnancy mod. My sliders weren't playing nice and their animations/arms were messed up)

Do you use move objects? I do, for deco objects. I don't like using it for functional objects though because sims are dumb and can't route/interact with them if they're not placed normally. I like having playable homes/lots than just aesthetically pretty ones

Favorite mod?

First expansion/game/stuff pack you got? I started playing sims with ts1 when I borrowed it and the Livin Large EP from my brother. I still have all the ts1 cds in my room (but sadly no disc drive to put them in lol rip) For ts2 I *think* it was Open for Business, I remember making bookstores with it. For ts3 I bought base game + seasons bundled at Gamestop randomly one day and uhhh oops lol. I don't play ts4, but I have the base game + cats & dogs.

Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing? I pronounce it like aLive

Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? Crystal Leblanc, my little kitty faerie doll! She's an oc of mine and I love watching her get excited over tiny things and her cute faces. I also really love Pewter Dusk, he started as just a random sim request from @shuckleberrysims but I started a save with him and he's so adorable and fun. I love awkward fish genie.

Have you made a simself? I did long ago, but I don't think I even have their sim file anymore lmao

What sim traits did you give yourself? Cat Person, Bookworm, Shy, Supernatural Fan, Natural Cook

What is your favorite EA hair color? I don't think I really have one? I despise the gross green-brown preset in ts3 though, it's SO UGLY... especially when random generated sims had it, uuugh. So glad there's a fix for that now.

Favorite EA hair? A few Uni Life hairs are cute but my recent favorite is one that Mignonette has as a teen/ya. It's a rly cute messy updo hair with a bandana bow. She aged up into it as a teen and it looked really cute on her so I kept it! It's from Master Suite stuff!

Favorite life stage? I think you can guess lmao

Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay? Gameplay, I cannot build to save my life, I make ugly boxes

Are you a CC creator? No, but I'm interested in learning more about it, I've been fiddling with ITUNs in s3pe and such. I've made mods for Skyrim but I'd like to make more sim downloads (I need to put the Dusks up for download if I track down their cc...)

Do you have any simblr friends/a sim squad? 2016 switter gang hi!!! It's been a long time and a few of them are no longer on simblr. but I like to think I have some friends on here, though I'm very shy and go on hiatuses a lot

What’s your favorite game? TS3! I wish I could play ts1 again though :(

Do you have any Sims merch? No but I should get some...

Do you have a YouTube for sims? No, I'm pretty self conscious of my voice and I'm afraid of my game error 12'ving or crashing while recording lol. I do stream in discord though

How has your “sim style” changed throughout your years of playing? When I started playing I had very minimal cc and was very vanilla. Then I got into berries after discovering simblr, and I really like all the different colors and fun designs. I just think they're neat.

Who’s your favorite CC creator? Oh gosh too many... too many slkdfjlf but to name a few off the top of my head, @sim-songs, @nectar-cellar, @poisonfireleafs hair, @xiasimla, @teekapoa

How long have you had a simblr? Since 2013! All of my older posts are gone now though when I deleted them years ago :( I wish I could look back on them. Wayback machine doesn't load the pictures and only has a few pages of my old blog.

How do you edit your pictures? I used edit with actions in photoshop before I got reshade. Now I just use @erasabledinosaur's wonderful presets 💗 I'm currently using Papercut and sometimes Strawberry Rhubarb!

What expansion/game/stuff pack is your favorite so far? Honestly, University Life will always have a place in my heart as it was the first EP I bought after base game + seasons. I have really fond memories of my simself running around the uni world exploring everything about ts3, everything was so new and exciting to me. and I love the uni townies! Especially Cid and Shea. I made ocs that are loosely based on them. (Very loosely since my Cid is nothing like EA Cid lmao)

What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next? Well since EA abandoned ts3 all I can ask for is the game magically becoming 64 bit 🙃

i am coming to despise the tuesday TS4 updates bc i stg they do not test them or smth. every single time they’re like “we solved soooo many annoying bugs in this patch!! look guys!!” they make the game unplayable. oops. I’d rather be able to play the game at all than holidays be fixed…sorry……..

I played TS3 from around release until about when City Living came out for TS4 but I think I never fully immersed myself in it because y’know my family never really owned the software necessary for it to not be horribly laggy so I don’t have the same kind of attachment to TS3 as I do to TS4 also as much as I love other aspects of TS3 I despise the CAS and it’s really hard for me to attached to sims that I don’t really love the look of one day I’ll most likely return to TS3 when I feel like setting all my mods up in it but I do enjoy TS4! I didn’t play it for a while after release cause I’ve done that with every sims game (it took me forever to switch from TS2) but I’ve come to enjoy what this community has done with it and that’s mostly why I keep playing :)

You know, on their own, TS3′s Traits (and TS4′s fusion of the two systems) were probably an improvement on TS2′s Aspirations in terms of how you could characterize your Sim...

...but I still miss TS2′s Aspirations, because I was really involved in TS2′s fan community, and there were some really interesting fan interpretations of the Aspirations.

I just talked about them in the long thing I wrote about Bella Goth’s disappearance since I felt like I should explain what a “knowledge sim” was, but here’s the explanation of the system again, a bit more in-depth.

Aspirations were a major part of how you characterized your Sim in TS2. They determined your Sim’s wants and fears, and how they’d react to having an emotional breakdown. There were eight: of the eight, one was only available to children and toddlers (and was the only Aspiration available to children and toddlers), and two weren’t part of the base game, instead being added in the Nightlife expansion pack, and one of those two was even further restricted because you couldn’t just make a Sim that Aspiration from the start, something had to happen to change the Sim’s Aspiration to get it, so it was kinda like a secret (more specifically, the main purpose of Wants and Fears was that fulfilling Wants would net you Aspiration Points, while fulfilling Fears would lose Aspiration Points, and you could spend those points on Aspiration Rewards, which would do cool things for you... unless your Sim was in a particularly bad mood, in which case it would backfire. One of these items was the ReNuYu SensoOrb, which you would normally use to change your Aspiration... and if you were in a bad mood, you’d instead get the secret Aspiration).

Anyways, here are the eight:

Grow Up: The one that’s for children and toddlers. Their wants and fears are all fairly childish things like playing with toys, as well as things that’d universally upset people like a fire.

Family: They care about their relatives. Their wants are things like having children, and their fears are things like their relatives dying.

Fortune: Capitalists. Their wants are to earn money and buy expensive things, and their fears are getting fired or losing money.

Romance: Thots. Their wants involve “Woohoo” (sex) and makeouts, and their fears involve commitment.

Popularity: They want ALL the friends. Their wants are things like making new friends.

Knowledge: Nerds. They crave new experiences and learning, and fear missing out on something.

Pleasure: One of the two introduced in Nightlife. They just wanna have fun.

Grilled Cheese: The one introduced in Nightlife that you can’t get normally. They’re obsessed with grilled cheese.

So, the fan interpretation that made things interesting. In the game itself, it’s just a “Game Logic” thing that you can use to categorize these Sims, and you could make the argument that their Aspiration just reflected who a Sim was more than anything else.

The Sims 2 fan community did not treat it that way.

The Sims 2 fan community made Aspirations, like, A Thing in-universe. Sims knew what Aspiration they were, and your Aspiration had an unconscious influence over your actions. While in-game Romance Sims all hated getting married, in fan stories you’d occasionally find a Romance Sim who didn’t actually mind that much even though their nature told them to despise it. And there were also stereotypes. Pleasure Sims were stereotyped as reckless idiots. Family Sims were stereotyped as soft and edgeless. Romance Sims were stereotyped as amoral and heartless.

It was really interesting and really dragged me into these stories, and I was honestly sad to see the worldbuilding the fandom had developed get pretty much wiped away in TS3, even if it made sense to get rid of it.

-Vladislaus Straud: literally… who? He sounds like a vampire, but I haven’t seen yet. I guess I don’t play enough TS3/TS4 XD

-Lolitha Goth: I’d say ugh, although I don’t despise her. I just think she’s one of those characters that EA could have avoid to pretend to relate to the Goths (from the ones they introduced in TS3 there’s just one SIm I like, let’s see if you guy guess :P)

yeah, okay, i bought all ts3 expansions as well. the thing is, while glitchy and sometimes fucked up, ts3 is still a great game, especially if you add mods like nraas overwatch. ts4, on the other hand? there's hardly anything good about this shit AND it's expensive as hell. in american currency it may not be that bad, but central europe? i have to work two whole days to get an expansion (and i have a full-time job!) and i enjoy the gameplay for like, five hours...

*cries in australian bc our currency is so shit and everything is expensive* i actually feel sick when i see how expensive all the ts4 expansions are and like,,,,,i don’t find ts4 to be as immersive so i can’t justify spending so much on a game. 

i love the graphics of ts4 and certain things like emotions. but i despise the closed world so like,,,,,  it rly ruined the game for me.

i played hundreds of hours of sims 3 (maybe even thousands) before i brought a mac and like,,,,,,,,, i probs have played less than 100 hours of sims 4 since it was released bc it’s just,,,,,, not my fave

1. Is Tumblr the first sims community you’ve gotten involved in? If not, what is?

No, it was The Sims Forums and the Fire Monkey’s forums for Sims Freeplay. 

2. What is your favorite skill in the game?

Hmmm. In TS3 I would have to say painting and spell casting. In TS4 the painting skill is still good, I like the gardening in this game and the vampire skills.

3. If you write a story, do you let your sims influence their characters? If you’re not a story writer, do you play with Free Will?

I’m not a writer but I have an idea what I want my digital dollies (aka “Sims”) to do but for the most part I let them do what they want. I play with free will on, I prefer the element of surprise.

4. Do you like rabbithole lots?

That really depends on what I am doing. If I want to get a sim out of my hair so I can take care of something else then “yes”. If I am trying to do something with the sim going into the rabbithole and want to actually see them while they are doing the “thing” in the rabbithole lot-then no.

5. What’s your oldest piece of cc?

In TS3 the first cc I downloaded and still use is the fixed hair by @buckleysims . I was a bit cc shy...you wouldn’t know that now. For TS4 the oldest stuff I have but don’t use is gholiad’s stuff. It doesn’t work in my game anymore but for what ever reason I have it stashed away on an external hard drive because I liked it.

6. What is your favorite simlish phrase? 

“Pixa dooba!!” or the one that sounds like “Dee-bow” which is a kind of greeting or acknowledgment.

7. What is an interaction or feature of the game you absolutely despise and modded out so quick you forget it exists?(example: shaka-bra)

TS3 “Berate ignorance”. OMG...how many friends and family my sims managed to insult with that one before I put the mod in. TS4 the constant state of smiling and “happy”. I modded that crap out. You will be miserable like everyone else and like it!!!

8. Have you bought an EP or SP just to get one thing?

No, there is usually more than one thing that I like in an EP or SP.

9. Many players create a simself, but have you created any family or friends? Did you play them?

Yes I have created a couple old friends but I don’t like playing them. I let them loose in the world to live out their sim lives happily. No simself.

10. Are you going to play sims today?

I do plan on it, I just need to do a couple things around the house....but I’m a grown up and can blow off my chores if I want ;-D. Of course I will have to deal with them later but that’s how it goes.
