i’ve decided that post-canon Ed and Winry keep a little flock of chickens and it’s mostly a bunch of sweet hens that they and the kids dote on, but they also have a tiny yellow bantam rooster which Ed is in a FEUD with. they are NEMESES. this creature keeps escaping from the run and getting into things he shouldn’t and pecking at Ed’s ankles every chance he gets. the kids love him and ‘accidentally’ let him into the house where he causes utter chaos. Ed insists this is the most vile creature in the world. but of course everyone else who sees their altercations is just like “Ah. He has found a kindred spirit.”

probably not a lot of people on here know this but I'm like low key a scientology watcher. generally i'm very on and off with how closely I keep up with them, but I'm for sure the most knowledgable person about scientology that I know personally. which I say to illustrate that I know how badly scientology is doing currently from like a retention and recruiting standpoint

and I also know that the only somewhat notable scientology org in my area is in Baton Rouge, but even that I sort of assumed wasn't really doing great since I've caught them having to obscure the fact that they're scientology in some of their more recent ads. and in general scientology outside of Clearwater or LA is crumbling

but I was in a Barnes and Noble in Baton Rouge yesterday (the one in Citiplace if anyone is curious) and there were at least six scientologists there with Dianetics tables and e meters and everything offering "free stress tests."

the main things I'm surprised about is 1) that Barnes and Noble let them do that and 2) that they could wrangle enough local scientologists to do that in the first place. I'm suddenly very curious about the exact number of scientologists in the BR area

Let's talk about Ultima's Butt Curtains.

Leaving aside the obvious "blueberries the size of honeydew melons" issue going on here, I'm very interested in the massive rack o' antlers holding up those curtains.

FFXVI is heavy on Norse, Greek, Egyptian, Hindi mythologies/ traditions (among so, so much else), so this sort of symbolism is not likely wasted. Frustratingly, when I did variety of searches on the symbological significance of antlers and "great stag" creatures...I found out that pretty much all ancient cultures had or still have a note of...horniness, figuratively speaking. Without knowing exactly which mythos (😈) the writers had in mind, this is really a shot in the dark. That said, there were some repeating ideas around antlers across disparate traditions, including but not limited to:

>Renewal and/or the cycle of life/death

>Spiritual or cosmic authority

>Fertility

Those first two make sense on the surface without too much thought. Ultima is a god or godlike being bent on rebooting the world for him/themselves. The fertility part...you could probably squeeze in with being a Creator.
